Post by bunniefuu »

[pilot announcement] Ladies and gentlemen,

we have commenced our descent.

Weather in Eden is, suffice to say,

glorious,

though we do have a couple of

storms forecast for the coming days.

[stewardess] Welcome to Eden.

Thank you.

[distant airport announcements]

[girl] Daddy!

[man] Hello, sweetheart.

[woman] That's the only car that you

have? It sucks!

As I said, it's

[man 2] Come on, it's fine. Come on.

Hey, Mum, um, I'm here.

My uh, my flight got delayed so just checking you didn't come

and then leave again,

or something.

[phone pings]

[car beeping]

Scout! Hey!

[upbeat funky music]

We're super amped that you made it

back for the summer.

Are you OK?

Um, I'm sort of sensing

that you're a bit upset

that it's me here and not your mother.

I mean, we just thought it'd be nice

for you and I

to spend some together, you know,

before the baby comes--

We know each other, Huckleberry.

[reflective music plays]

[ethereal choral singing]

[bird cawing]

[female voice] Imagine that ball.

Now feel that energy!

It's a beautiful game.

No winners, no losers.

Score's always zero-zero.

Love-love.

[bell chimes]

[birds tweeting]

I put your bag over here.

What do you want, a tip?

You weren't going to say hello?

Oh, Huck was supposed to move this.

Scout.

Scout.

[Scout] Don't worry about it.

Sweetie, I know we should've told you

earlier, but you're home now.

Talk to me.

This isn't going to

affect how I love you.

Huck and I just want a family--

-Oh, you want a family, do you, Mum?

-I didn't mean it like that--

No, no, no, no, it's fine.

Have your family.

Have your second chance or whatever

but keep me out of it.

You're too old for this.

And with Huck, I mean, come on, Mum.

He's a good person.

He's constantly trying with you--

So what do you think he wants you for?

It's pretty f*cking obvious.

[Scout's mum] Sometimes, Scout,

you're unkind.

[cat meows]

[Scout] Leslie!

Oh, hey baby. Come here!

Hmm? Hey, baby.

Hey, where's your Mama?

Hey!

Hello, Beastie!

Oh, I missed you.

Me too.

Nice chat with Mum.

Who could blame her for wanting another

adorable little child like you?

Thanks!

You look different.

How?

[Scout] I don't know. Just different.

Only for a moment.

You're back now.

Give me your wrist.

[girl] Ah, becoming sentimental

in your old age, Scout.

[Scout] Ahh.

Thanks. I love it.

So what's been happening?

Been pretty sh*t at writing back

to my emails.

I love your emails.

They make me miss New York, weirdly,

even though I've never been.

[Scout] Because I'm there?

Or maybe because I'm stuck here.

[Scout] Trust me, you appreciate it

when you're gone.

Yeah?

Well, I'm still stuck here, aren't I?

Wearing your hand-me-downs.

[sighs]

I am wiped.

Let's go to the beach.

I'm going to take a nap first.

I've had a late night.

And then you can tell me all about

the Juilliard Conservatoire.

You should go check on your Mum.

-[bell ringing] -[birds cawing]

[sighs]

[determined music plays]

[officers chuckling]

Excuse me. Is Superintendent Gracie here?

Katz?

Yeah.

I'm honoured, mate.

You guys realise how lucky we are,

just to be, you know,

in the presence of

of an internet sensation?

Play it again.

[male voice] Happy birthday dear Rocky--

[yelling]

-[crashing]

-[car beeping]

[male voice] Oh, you pisshead!

[police officers] You pisshead!

[cackling]

Oi! Get it off.

Hey, mate. You made it.

Mate, thanks so much. Thanks so much.

Everyone, this is

Detective Constable Ezra Katz.

-Come in.

-Thanks.

Bit of respect, please.

[cackling]

What happened?

Spectacular fall from grace

is probably the best description.

You were doing OK,

cracking that big Lorimer case.

Yeah. Yeah, I ah I wasn't well.

And then there was the drinking and

I'm just glad I didn't I'm just glad

I didn't hurt anyone, you know.

You're lucky you didn't hurt yourself.

That's arguable.

You can't blow this, Ezra.

I'm out on a limb.

I won't let you down.

Our um archives are in a bit of a mess.

I thought we could start you off there.

I'm sorry, mate.

I know you're over-qualified.

It is what it is.

We'll have you over for dinner soon.

I know Octavia and the girls

would love to see you.

That'd be wonderful.

[pensive music plays]

Oh, Jesus f*ck' Christ.

Hey Mum.

Let's come inside now. Come on.

Come here, come here.

Mardi, what the f*ck?

She gets very upset when I dress her.

[Ezra's mum] I gotta go.

[Ezra] Just stay here for one minute, please.

[Ezra's mum] Oh! Ohh

I'll be back in one sec, OK? Alright?

[Ezra's mum] Oh, they're coming!

[woman groaning]

[female choral singing]

Why are you sad?

Maybe because you're leaving me.

[whispers] I'm sorry.

[girl] I had a dream last night.

I woke up and I was pregnant.

Tight, shiny little belly.

And then it just slid out.

Didn't hurt, but it wasn't a baby.

It was like a dark, slimy slug.

My mother's spawn!

Maybe.

Hey!

Ms Van der Linden!

Hey, Scout. You're looking well.

So, how's Juilliard?

You know, your mother tells me

you won a prize.

Did she? God, she is so full of sh*t, hey?

But I'm OK.

Hello, Hedwig.

Well, I'm going to leave you girls

in peace.

Hey, I really hope to see you

before you go back to New York, Scout.

Yeah, for sure. I'll see you.

Why did you do that?

Hedwig, hey!

[man] Cooee!

-[woman] Scouty!

-[man] Oh, she's back!

Hey!

-[Scout] Hey honey.

-Hello, Hedwig.

Aloof as ever.

[Scout] Hey Freddy.

Sorry I didn't call yesterday.

Jetlag.

I really missed you.

[man 2] Hey Scouty,

how's it going mixing with the greatest

musical prodigies in all the universe?

[Scout] Fun.

How's Melbourne?

[man 2] I don't remember, really. We were

like drunk the whole time. Right, Freddy?

Yeah.

[woman] Hedwig.

I've been texting you.

Sorry, mate. I've been sh*t with my phone.

[man 2] How's life been here, baby?

[Hedwig] Good. Just working.

Where?

Around.

[woman] Did you audition

for acting school?

Yeah. I got in.

What? Why didn't you say something?

[woman 2] Hey, show us your audition

piece.

I don't work without a fee these days,

so

-Oh!

-OK, well I'll give you twenty.

[man 2] I'll match that and I'll even

raise you thirty.

[woman] Fred? Scout? Come on, support

the arts.

[woman 2] Set the scene for us first.

-Is it day or night?

-[woman] What's your backstory?

[woman 2] Go on, Hedwig.

Don't be nervous--

Put your f*cking money away, Scout.

I'm not a charity.

[woman 2] Jesus, Hedwig. Relax!

[Scout] I'll call you.

[man 2] Ugh, she's totally psycho.

[Scout] Hedwig, wait!

Will you just slow down?

They were only mucking around!

What's the matter?

Don't you find them exhausting?

Or are your New York friends the same?

Are you angry with me about something?

I'm angry with every single human being

on this planet, Scout.

The world's on fire. The ocean's choking.

Is it true about acting school?

So there's a party tonight

at Andy Dolan's house.
