Um, are you sure I shouldn't
just stay in the dorm?
Norman is good company,
but if you want to practice
being creative, you can't miss Color Lab.
Yeah, it is the most creative lab
there is. You're gonna do great.
Don't worry about those silly posters,
Seth. You're with us.
-No, I need…
-I need more glue!
Wow! What are they all doing?
Making colors.
Whenever a human finds themselves
pausing to enjoy
a particularly beautiful landscape,
that means the color sprytes have
just been there to touch up the scene.
Whoa. I didn't know that.
Add it to the list.
They seem really busy.
Oh, yeah.
It's a full-time job because…
well…
Because what?
Because the disarrays are constantly
fading the colors from the world.
I wonder what's going on.
They look more frantic than usual.
Excuse me. What's happening?
It's the disarrays.
They're out of control.
It usually takes them weeks
to fade our colors,
but lately, we just can't keep up
with the damage.
Oh, dear. Where's Professor Pigment?
That's a very good question.
She's shut herself in her studio again.
Says she has creative block.
But it's come at the worst time.
Professor Pigment? We're ready for class.
[sighs]
Professor?
Alas, I don't think I can teach today.
You'll have to come back another time.
Is something wrong, Professor?
Oh, I've lost my spark, my inspiration.
Maybe we can help you find it. Let's see.
If I were a spark, where would I hide?
[laughs] Listen to you.
So young and full of hope.
Hold on to that, my dear.
Wow. Did you paint all of these?
In my youth.
[sighs] I was so alive back then.
[whimpers] I was naive.
They're so beautiful.
Are they? Oh, I can't tell anymore.
It's all become an endless,
unoriginal blur.
The disarrays fade the colors out.
We put the paint in.
Fade, paint.
Fade, paint. Fade…
Paint?
We're just repeating ourselves!
So what's the point?
But y-you're not just repeating yourself.
No two sunsets are the same.
When the disarrays fade the color,
it gives you a blank slate.
It's a chance to do something new!
You speak as if… [chuckles] …the disarrays
were providing us a service.
Well, yeah, kind of.
There's only so many times you could
painstakingly create a masterpiece
and then watch it be destroyed.
And the humans,
they don't appreciate our work anyway.
[groans]
Aw.
It seems like the color sprytes out there
really need you, Professor.
I'm sorry, but it's useless.
I'm in a creative rut, my dears,
and it is deep.
I fear I may never paint again.
[sobs]
-[Antler] All right, class is canceled.
-[cheering]
Hey, who wants to go play
Antler in the Middle?
[sighs] How sad.
I was going to suggest
a dreamier color for dirt.
Sorry, Seth. I guess
we'll have to come back another time.
Hey, wait. Just because class is canceled
doesn't mean we can't learn about colors.
Uh, e-e-excuse me.
Uh, do you need any help?
[sighs] It's highly irregular.
But we're dealing with
a bit of an emergency.
A swarm of disarrays have just drained
the color from this valley.
[Sprout] Oh, that's so pretty!
It was pretty. Just wait till you see
what they've done to it.
Now, before we go to the surface
to repaint, we'll need the right colors.
Can I trust you all to mix them?
Yes!
We'll need, uh, emerald green,
lavender, cadmium yellow,
crimson red and cobalt blue.
You can use the mixing stations over there
and the recipes are in the handbooks.
Now be quick.
There's a sunset I need to check on,
but I'll be back soon
and then we'll head up to the valley.
This is so cool.
So, uh, how do we make colors?
Just follow the recipe.
I'll show you. I'm going to make green,
the best color there is!
Let's see.
I just need a dollop of sap
from a florabora tree,
a pinch of dehydrated birch.
Okay. Ooh!
Then we mix it all up,
and add a few wisps. Voilà!
-The greenest green you've ever seen.
-[others gasp]
Whoa. It's so pretty.
We need to make lots of colors if
we're going to repaint the whole valley.
Sprout, you've got green and yellow.
Xandra, you take red and purple.
Seth and I will make the blue.
Ready?
[laughing]
[squealing]
[groans]
And now for the bluest blue
that's ever been blue.
[gasps]
[Wolfboy] Interesting.
I must have messed it up somehow.
[chuckling] No way.
I think it's kinda cool.
We were supposed to be making blue.
[chuckles]
These are better than plain old blue.
I'm gonna call this one
Lolliganza Extravaganza.
And this one is Polkadotty Delight.
Okay, you sprytelings ready?
You just have to be, 'cause
we're heading up to the surface now.
Grab your colors and let's go.
You got the blue?
Uh, sort of.
This is so exciting.
I can't wait to get up there and create,
just like a real spryte.
[groans]
Oh. I-- I can't go through.
It's a spryte portal.
I guess I can't really change what I am.
I'll just wait here.
Let me know how it goes on the surface.
No way. I'll fix this.
Okay.
And then some wisps.
There. A special portal just for you.
[sighs] Where are they?
We've got painting to do.
-Whoa!
-[gasps] What?
Did you make another portal?
How are you doing that?
I couldn't leave Seth behind.
Now come on. Let's paint this valley.
[all] Whoa.
-[all] Ew!
-[color spryte sighs]
I've never seen anything like this before.
They usually don't attack one place
in such large numbers.
It's like they're more coordinated
or something.
We've got a lot of work to do,
so best get started.
Spread out, follow the blueprint,
and make sure to paint inside the lines.
Cool. Your turn, Seth.
[chuckles]
[groans] I messed it up again.
No, you didn't.
You don't need to stay inside the lines.
Here, look.
There's no right way to be creative.
You just have to do what inspires you.
I find a little chaos
can be good for creativity.
What are you doing? What color is that?
Isn't it amazing?
Ooh, that's beautiful.
I'm going to get Professor Pigment.
Hmm. If we have to paint these flowers
one at a time,
it'll take forever to do this whole field.
There. It's a color chucker.
This will be much faster. Look!
Seeing something like this
will inspire humans even more.
Come on! Try it! It's fun!
Oh, no, you didn't.
[laughing]
[laughs]
[blows raspberry]
-[laughing]
-You shouldn't be using that color.
-It's not right.
-Ooh, that's gonna leave a mark.
[laughing]
[yawns]
[gasps]
[all laughing, breathing heavily]
Look, Professor. I told you.
Look what they've done!
[giggles]
I-- I've never seen anything like it.
I can't believe it!
It's exquisite. [chuckles]
-[gasps] Such chaos. Such flair.
-Hmm.
But it's not the same as the blueprint.
No. It's much, much better.
It's the most inspiring thing
I've seen in years.
You know,
I think I might be ready to paint again.
Thank you.
Geetha?
[chuckles] That's beautiful.
[Professor Pigment] Surround yourselves
with beauty, sprytelings.
Inspiration's not so hard to find,
if you take the time to see it.
Ooh. This is a good one.
No, wait. [gasps] This is a good one.
Ah, Wolfboy, I'm so jealous
-you get to read these for the first time.
-[chuckles]
They tell the legend
of real guardian spryte heroes.
And each volume is filled
with ancient spryte lore.
[squeals] They could really help us
learn more about your prophecy.
You two look rather dashing.
We're visiting Norman Jr
in the Dinosaur Lab.
-Sneakily. Look! [laughs]
-[Seth chuckles]
Oh, I'm bad. Just rotten. [chuckles]
Wanna join? There's room for one more.
Oh, that sounds like fun. I'd love to.
You can't go, Wolfboy.
We're supposed to be researching,
remember?
Oh, yeah. Silly me. [sighs]
You two have fun, then!
We'll give Norman Jr a big hug for you.
[door closes]
I'm convinced
if we study the legends in here,
we might be able to learn
about your prophecy.
There must be something to explain what
you're supposed to do with your powers.
Xandra, is there anything
in these comics about a human?
Well, no.
Whoa.
You've read all these legends
hundreds of times.
If you haven't found anything yet,
then maybe there's nothing to find.
I know we haven't found any answers yet,
but there may be one more place to look.
Maybe.
But you have to swear
never to tell anyone.
Uh, okay. I swear.
Swear on Floof.
[gasps, purrs]
I need to know you're serious.
Swear on Floof.
I swear.
What is this?
How does Guhulan take his mash?
In a tanzanite bowl with a side of skulls.
-[lock clicking]
-[bolt sliding]
Sneffton?
Frip frop. Welcome back, Xandra.
The society has missed you.
Frip frop.
Good to be back, Keeper of the Lore.
Uh, cheers, Sneffton.
[scoffs]
You may know me as Sneffton out there,
but within these hallowed dwellings,
every second Tuesday of the month,
I'm Keeper of the Lore.
Is this a comic book club?
Comic books are for fake human stuff.
This is the Legends Society.
If there's anything to know
about your prophecy, they'll know it.
[chuckles]
[groans]
[Xandra]
It's important you figure this out.
Yeah, I guess.
Now, at the end of our last meeting,
Scrumpf made a rather clever connection.
In every volume featuring
the Guardian Livinia as a spryteling,
someone spills a vat of inklings.
Thus proving…
the sprytelings of yore were
far more mischievous than today's crop.
Wow.
-Miscreants.
-Hooligans.
For today's session,
I have a rather delicious theory
I'd like to share.
I noticed in issue three of 178,
Dudagon's shield is facing backwards,
which, we all know,
means that the warrior's fated to lose.
-[Xandra] Keeper…
-[screams]
…in any of the comics,
is there ever any mention of a prophecy?
It's just… I've heard a theory
that a prophecy exists.
It tells of a hero
who will save the world from darkness.
But I've read all the volumes and, well,
I've never found a volume
that mentions a prophecy.
Well, dear Xandra, you haven't read
all the issues. [chuckles]
I present to you, the Lost Volume.
-Ooh.
-Oh.
Look with your eyes, Tammy!
-The first and most coveted issue…
-Ah.
…in the Legends and Lore series,
the long-forgotten epic of Astralynx.
Who's Astralynx?
[Sneffton] It's a mystery.
Most of the pages are missing.
But from the pages I do have,
it appears that Astralynx is talking
about some sort of prophecy.
[gasps] What's the prophecy say?
Uh… y-you know, prophecy stuff.
Uh, something about
the fate of the world, I believe.
So, there might be a prophecy
in the Lost Volume, but is there a human?
-A human? That's-- [laughs]
-Humans.
-Miscreants [laughs].
-[laughs] Yeah, right.
-[Scrumpf] Humans can't be heroes.
-[Tammy chuckles]
[Scrumpf laughs]
Keeper, what do you know
about this symbol?
Hmm. It's not ancient spryte script.
I'm not sure what that is.
Hey, this symbol looks an awful lot
like the one on Luxcraft's pendant.
I told you we'd find something.
I've never heard
of this Astralynx character.
But if they have
a connection to the prophecy,
then that symbol must too.
You're a hero without a legend,
but not for long.
[Wolfboy] Uh, Sneff-- Uh…
[stammers] Keeper of the stuff, uh--
Uh, w-w-what if the heroes just,
you know, don't follow their destiny?
Oh, like Tempestuous Tabbart.
She refused her calling and was conjured
into a pile of, wait for it, space dust!
[all laughing]
Space dust?
That was thrilling! I can't believe
I got to touch the Lost Volume.
Everyone was so dismissive about humans,
like they couldn't be capable of anything.
They haven't seen what you can do.
Your powers are incredible.
But we still have so much to learn.
I think we're onto something
with this symbol,
but we need more information.
I'm going to go look through more records.
-You go talk to Luxcraft.
-Luxcraft?
If the symbol is on Luxcraft's pendant,
he's bound to know what it means
and how it connects to the prophecy.
But I've been dodging training for ages,
and he's gonna want an explanation.
And besides, we can't trust him.
I know. But any intel we can get
is better than the nothing we have now.
You don't have to tell him
about your time in the Disarray Realm.
You're allowed to keep secrets too.
-But, Xandra, I don't think I'm ready to--
-Exactly.
We need you to get ready.
So I'll meet you
back at Luxcraft's office,
and we can compare notes.
[babbles]
I know, I know. Here goes nothing.
[sprytelings laughing]
Oh, my gosh. Do you think your uncle
will open Gem Lab for us again?
[chuckles] He better.
Last time was so fun!
A bit of fun would be nice.
It would be rude
not to at least say hello to them.
Tali! Yoo-hoo!
Did I hear you were off to Gem Lab?
Uh, is this a trick?
[shudders] We're being ambushed!
It's not a trick, I promise.
Gem Lab sounds quite fun!
I could use a bit of that.
So can I come along?
Uh, I guess.
[purrs, babbles]
I will talk to him. Later.
To the Gem Lab!
I have no idea where it is.
[scoffs]
Come on, Wolfboy.
Find out what old purple-beard is hiding.
[singsongy] Thanks, Uncle Silton.
-[chuckles]
-Whoa. This is amazing.
So, this whole time,
you guys have been fun?
Oh, my gosh.
Does this thing go any faster?
On it.
[grunting]
[cheering]
-[chuckles]
-Yeah!
Wait. Antler, hop back in.
I've got an idea.
Cool. What's that?
Um, well, it's a--
a spinamabob, obviously.
Oh, yeah. [scoffs] I knew that.
You might wanna hold onto something.
-[Tali] Ah!
-Yahoo!
-[cheering]
-Oh, my gosh.
Thanks, Wolfboy!
This is so adventurey.
How can there be so many words here,
and none of them are helpful?
Hope you're having better luck than I am,
Wolfboy.
I bet if I had those missing pages
from the Lost Volume,
I could figure out who this Astralynx is,
and maybe what they know
about the prophecy. [scoffs]
Then I could be asking them questions
instead of just talking to myself.
As soon as Wolfboy's out of there,
we're coming for you, Astralynx.
We're gonna find out who you are.
Wolfboy? [gasps]
Has the boy finally come to see me?
You haven't talked to him yet?
No. And I'm starting
to get the feeling he's avoiding me.
[groans]
I get that feeling, too, sir.
Hmm.
-That was so fun. I had the best time.
-That was so fun.
This is why you weren't at Luxcraft's?
You were with them?
Wait! Xandra, I-- I can explain!
Xandra, I'm sorry.
I meant to come back, but I--
I was having so much fun and--
Why don't you care about the prophecy?
About your destiny?
It's not that I don't care.
It's just that I'm-- I'm…
-You're what?
-I'm scared! All right?
I'm scared.
[sniffles, sighs]
It feels like everything is riding on me.
What if I fail?
What if I'm not what everyone thinks I am?
[sighs] I'm sorry for pushing
this prophecy thing so hard.
It's okay to be scared
if you're not ready to face it.
But when you are ready
to look for answers, I'll be here.
Thanks, Xandra.
-[door opens]
-[panting]
-We forgot Norman Jr's birthday!
-[pants] Oh, dear. Oh, dear.
It's Norman Jr's birthday? Since when?
Since today, when we decided
to throw him a smashing party!
We need a present, quickly!
I know you're not ready
to look for answers,
but we could look for
a birthday present for a dinosaur.
