03x06 - Cake on Fire

Post by bunniefuu »

[upbeat music playing]

[indistinct chattering]

-Oh my God. What's it gonna be?
-Oh yeah.

-[Julie] What's it gonna be?
-[Grace] Oh no.

-[Henderson] Oh!
-Oh my God.

[laughs]

Uh-oh.

[Julie] I still don't know.

-Is it gonna blow up?
-I'm scared. Yeah.

-[siren wails]
-Oh my God!

-Okay, it got me.
-Oh!

[Mikey] Everyone, stand back. I got this.

Let's go. Move! Make a hole.

-Make a hole, Grace!
-[dramatic music playing]

Thank you! I got this.

-Oh!
-[Grace] Oh my God.

This is quite a blaze. I got it.

Oh, the heat!

Oh, look at those flames!
Everybody, stand back.

[group exclaiming and laughing]

[Mikey pants]

Oh, it's still going! It's a fighter.

[Grace laughing] Wait, it's not out.

[laughing]

Not today, flames.

[dramatic music continues]

-[panting]
-[Grace] Wow.

-[Jujhar] Wow.
-Wow.

-Whoo!
-[chuckling]

Thank God I was here!

-[laughter]
-[Mikey] Oh.

Well, as you can tell,
we're going to the fire station!

-Whoo-hoo!
-[siren wailing]

[Mikey] All right, let's get to it.

It's time to play Find That...
[singsong] ...Ca-ake.

[siren wailing]

-Ready?
-Whoo-hoo!

-Cake wall...
-[Grace] Oh my God.

...spin!

-As you can see...
-Oh my God. There are things on it.

[Mikey] ...there are six podiums up there,

each with an object
you might find at a fire station.

What...

[Mikey] Five of the objects are real,
and one is really cake.

You will have 20 seconds to find the cake
and lock in your answer.

The fastest to find it

will have first pick of the object
they want to turn into a cake.

-Got it?
-Yes.

{\an8}Good, because your time starts now!

{\an8}-[tense music playing]
-[timer beeping]

-Holy cow.
-I don't even know.

-[Jujhar] My stomach's hurting.
-[laughter]

[Mikey] Fifteen seconds.

[tense music continues]

[Mikey] Ten seconds. Don't make me
get the fire extinguisher.

Oh God.

Three, two, one.

-Lock it in!
-[bell dings]

Time's up.

So stressful.

All right. [sighs]

-Oh.
-[laughter]

Jujhar, you picked Number One.

What looks like cake about Number One?

{\an8}Something about the brown part
at the bottom caught my eye.

-[Mikey] Something cake-like about it?
-Yeah, from here.

Let's see if you're right, friend.
Is it cake?

[suspenseful music playing]

-Nope. That is a rubber boot.
-[laughter]

It's a strong boot.

It's a bouncy little boot too.
It was cute.

It was so cute.

{\an8}Grace. What did you pick?

{\an8}I chose Number Five.

-[Mikey] The helmet.
-[Grace] Yes.

[Mikey] Do tell.

The face where the number is
looks fondant-y.

-[Jujhar] Yeah.
-Base where the number is looks fondant-y.

[Grace] Mm-hmm.

Julie, what'd you pick?

{\an8}I also picked Number Five.

-[Mikey] You did?!
-[Julie] Yeah.

[Mikey] Why?

-The rim looked cake-ish.
-[Mikey] The rim?

-[Julie] Yeah.
-[Jujhar] Yeah.

-Fondant or modeling chocolate?
-[laughter]

Isomalt? Gum paste?

All of the above.

{\an8}Guess what question I'm going to ask.

Is it cake?

{\an8}Wow! Good.

Those who didn't say anything,

{\an8}you were unclear about what question
I was gonna ask right now?

Well, the ladies chose Five. Let's see...

-[suspenseful music playing]
-...if they were right.

Oh gosh.

Let's find out.

Is it cake?

-Oh-h*-h*!
-[upbeat music playing]

I believe that is cake!

[Timmy] It is cake.

-[Mikey] Congratulations, Julie, Grace.
-Yay.

You were correct,
but one of you was faster,

and that person is

Grace!

[cheering and applause]

Yay!

Grace, you were the fastest
to lock in your answer,

so you'll have first pick of the object
you want to cake-ify...

-Whoo-hoo!
-...when we play Is It Cake?

[siren wailing]

Each of you will choose
one of these fire station objects

to make into a cake.

Grace, you were our winner.

So, what are you thinking?

I'm gonna go with Number Six.

{\an8}What about this hose?
You just think you can crush this?

I'm thinking in terms of decoys.

I can change around the structure,
whereas the other ones, I can't do that.

-She's reverse engineering from the decoy.
-Yes.

-The neuroscientist at work.
-[Grace laughs]

Julie, you were second fastest.
What would you like to bake?

{\an8}-Going glove.
-[Mikey] Okay, the glove.

{\an8}What about the glove?

Fewer straight edges.

-Straight edges. They're difficult.
-[Grace] Yeah.

And finally, Jujhar.

I'm gonna go for the boot.

{\an8}-[Mikey] The boot?
-[laughter]

Your old friend?

You're making peace?
What a heartwarming tale.

[laughter]

Now, at this point in the competition,
there's no room for error.

One of you will win
a cash prize of up to $10,000,

and one of you will be eliminated.

Every decision could be the difference
between moving on to the semifinals

or a ticket outta here.

-God.
-I'm just reminding you of the stakes.

Hoo!

{\an8}You'll have eight hours
to complete your cakes.

{\an8}-It's time... [echoing] ...to bake!
-[bell rings]

{\an8}-Go!
-[Grace] Whoo-hoo!

{\an8}[applause]

The heat is on.

Get my apron on.

[fast-paced music playing]

[Mikey] Ah, the flour.

The eggs.
It all starts with eggs and flour.

-Jujhar.
-Oh my God, Jujhar.

-[Julie] What's up with the balancing act?
-Just take the whole pantry with you.

Jujhar, are you doomsday prepping?

What does that mean?

[laughing] "What does that mean?"

-I gotta go sleeves up for this.
-[Grace] All righty. Let's go.

Last time I won, it was a team challenge
with Henderson, and it was so amazing,

{\an8}but this time, I wanna show
that I can do it by myself too. [laughs]

Hey, Grace, what flavor
are you going with?

I'm gonna make a vanilla cake
with a rum soak

and gingerbread Swiss meringue buttercream

{\an8}with white-chocolate pearls.

That sounds just like
a drunken gingerbread cookie that I do.

My husband is a volunteer firefighter,

and whenever I have extra cakes,
I bring them all to the firehouse,

and their favorite flavor is this cake,

minus the rum, 'cause I'm not
getting them drunk on their shift.

[Grace laughs]

I feel like I'm gonna end up
needing more cake...

-[Julie] Oh, yeah.
-...than I think I need.

Yours is so deceivingly big.

It doesn't seem like it is,
but then you're like, "Wait a minute."

[Grace] I've never made
a fire hose before,

and I'm going into this a little nervous
because I have to bake a lot of cake.

I need to color match, figure out
what I'm going to use as texture,

sculpt the nozzles.

I need to paint the letters,
I need to make it look dirty,

and coil it all around
and make it look natural,

and drop it and curl it and curve it,
and oh my God, I'm tired already. [laughs]

How's it going?

[Julie sighs]

It's going.
Just trying to get my batter in the oven,

which I feel like
is always the biggest hang-up.

You forget to factor in time
about actually making your cakes.

You get so focused on the design.

{\an8}I am a little wary
about making this glove.

{\an8}I have never made any type of hand before,

so I'm not really sure
how to go about doing it.

And the reflector is something
I've never even remotely made before.

I don't even know if you can create
reflective neon fondant

or modeling chocolate,
but I'm excited to find out.

Hey, Julie.

-Hey, hey.
-Can you tell me about your flavors?

[Julie] I'm doing a cookies-and-cream cake
with a light Nutella buttercream

{\an8}and toasted hazelnuts
in between the layers.

Why?

Honestly, because I was craving it,
and I wanted to eat the extra pieces.

-[Henderson and Timmy laugh]
-Can you save some for us?

[Julie] It would mean the world
to go to the semifinals.

My husband and I, we need a new fridge.
We need new gutters.

But I also really, really want
to expand my business.

Like, winning this money would give me
the opportunity to finally hire someone

and start growing my business
the way I want to.

Ooh, that looks so good.
That looks like ice cream.

[Julie] So good, right?

Oh God, please don't burn.
Please don't burn.

Jujhar, have you ever made a boot before?

-[laughs] I haven't made a boot before.
-But he said that about that face.

-I know.
-I think it's all just a long con.

-I'll take that as a compliment!
-[Julie] You should.

{\an8}I chose the rubber boot because
it's tall and ambitious, just like me.

I'm 24 years old.

I started making hyperrealistic cakes

so I didn't think I was gonna make it
this far, and it feels amazing.

I have a lot of big goals,
a lot of big dreams.

I just really hope I can do it.

I'm just nervous, 'cause it's really tall
and skinny again, like the flour bag,

so I hope it doesn't tip over.

-It's even taller than the flour bag.
-Yeah. It's taller.

[Jujhar] I really want
to push my boundaries

because ultimately, I do wanna win,

but I'm also here to challenge myself
and show growth

and learn from this opportunity.

Tell me about
the cake flavor you're making.

I'm calling this
the firehouse fusion cake,

so I'm doing, like, a zesty lemon cake

with a jalapeño-caramel buttercream

{\an8}and an almond crunch.

-Ooh, that sounds amazing.
-[Jujhar] Thank you.

Have you ever made
a jalapeño flavor before?

I haven't, but I'm pretty good
with balancing flavors,

and I feel like it's a "fire" house theme.

Wow, I'm excited
to try this picante jalapeño.

[bell rings]

{\an8}Oh my gosh.

[both] Ooh. He's coming.

Guess who has a megaphone!

That's not gonna be good.

-Uh-oh.
-[Grace laughs]

Bakers, it's your fire chief speaking.

I have your decoys.

[upbeat music playing]

Come up and get 'em.

-[Henderson] Grace, you need help?
-Yes.

-[Henderson] Let me help you.
-[Grace] Yay!

-Look at that. That is a gentleman.
-[Grace] Thank you.

Alert, alert. We have a gentleman.

Aren't they heavy? Not for you?

Grace, you look... you look very legit.

-[imitates hose spraying]
-[laughter]

-[energetic music playing]
-[bell ringing, siren wailing]

[radio chatter]

[siren continues wailing]

[horn honking]

[radio chatter]

[siren wailing]

[horn honking]

[siren continues wailing]

{\an8}-[air horn blares]
-[timer beeping]

{\an8}[focused music playing]

Julie, what are you working on?

The internal wire structure
that's gonna go inside my hand.

The armature is so important,

because I can't just sculpt cake
bottom to top

and sculpt cake out of fingers
with no internal support,

because once I start adding ganache
and modeling chocolate,

the fingers would fall off immediately

without having something
internally to attach to.

[Grace] That looks great.

-[laughing] No, it doesn't.
-Yeah, it does!

He's like the skeleton.
We're working on the skeleton.

Once I have my armature ready to go,

I adhere just a tiny bit
of modeling chocolate

to make a surface
that I can stick my cake-pop dough to,

which is essentially
just my cookies-and-cream cake

and chocolate buttercream.

I just keep packing it around

to build out the palm
and the back of the hand

until it looks pretty spot on
to the actual glove.

Then I ganache coat the entire thing
so it sets as one hard shell.

Julie, what do you have left to do?

-I have everything, Jujhar.
-Honestly, same.

[Julie laughs]

[dramatic music playing]

[Jujhar] Oh my God. I'm stressed.

I start carving my cake,

and I notice that my cake
is a little, like, "ehhh..." crooked.

Oh, this is not good.

So I take my whole cake apart

because this is
such a tall and skinny cake.

I decide to layer a lot of boards

to make sure that my cake
is nice and stable throughout.

It's stressful.
It's such a tall and narrow cake,

and, obviously, no one wants
to go home at this point.

My parents are immigrants from India,
so they had the typical mindset of,

"Hey, go to university,
become a doctor or lawyer."

But now, after opening a bakery,
my family is so, so involved.

Whenever I need anything,
they're always there,

so I wanna show my family that,

"You made the right decision
in supporting me."

We're so close to the semifinals,
and I really wanna be there.

-Yay, my boot's standing!
-[Julie] Yay, boot!

[Jujhar] Let's hope it doesn't fall again.

{\an8}[echoing computerized voice] I am AI.
Three hours left.

{\an8}Humans are inherently weak.

[laughing]

[upbeat electronic music playing]

-Grace, how's the sheeting going?
-I need so much modeling chocolate.

-I'm so impressed.
-It's so much, and I still need more.

[both laugh]

To make the coil of the hose
on top of the cake,

I'm rolling out modeling chocolate,
measuring it,

and then I'm also texturing it
with a burlap-texture rolling pin,

and then folding each edge
so it looks like it's a flattened hose.

So it's a multistep process
that I need to do ten million times

to really get that coil
on top of the cake.

I feel like I have a lot left to do.

-I think, once I get everything done...
...Uh-huh.

...and then get that done
and then get that done,

I'll feel better. [laughs]

As much as I wanna
win the competition for money,

I'm doing this, really, for myself,

because I've changed my careers,
went against my parents.

{\an8}They do not support what I do,

but I really want to show them
that I am really happy doing what I love.

So hopefully winning this competition
will change their mind.

How's your boot coming along?

There's so much sculpting involved.

I literally carved this cake
five times already.

I thought I was ready to move on.

I'm just worried about time
because I still have a lot to do.

[Grace] Yeah.

[Jujhar] Ugh, I feel like I'm behind.

I spent most of my time
focusing on my shape and structure,

and I feel like I'm very short of time
to finish the details of the boot.

I'm covering my cake
with primarily modeling chocolate,

but I also add
a little bit of black fondant.

This looks cool.

You got it so perfectly.

Thank you.

It is really strong, and I feel like
it'll have that perfect rubbery look.

I'm also going to add in
cornstarch and dust

because if my boot is perfectly clean,
it's gonna look like the cake,

so I wanna make it kind of worn and loved.

-Looks okay, right?
-Looks perfect.

Okay.

{\an8}Comin' up on two hours, bakers.

{\an8}Two hours left.

You can do it, bakers.

[Mikey's voice] You can do it, bakers.

-[group] Whoa!
-[Grace] Wow.

-That was good.
-[Mikey's voice] You can do it, bakers.

You can do it, bakers.

[laughter]

-I'm gonna hear this in my sleep tonight.
-[Mikey's voice] You can do it, bakers.

[laughter]

-I am feeling the burn.
-Yeah.

I'm trying to get the bottom decorated

so then I could go back
to focusing on the top.

I really want to be able to say that
I fooled the judges three times in a row,

so I have that pressure
in the back of my mind.

But I know that if I'm not able
to get this neon band,

the cake is essentially
going to be worthless

because that's the one piece
that makes it a firefighter's glove.

Are you worried
about the reflector part, Julie?

Absolutely, I am worried.

I've used some
pretty bright colors before,

but I have never actually used
a neon surface before,

so I'm just gonna have to wing it
and kind of figure it out as I go.

The first thing I'm gonna do is take
a bit of really bright yellow fondant

and combine it with the tiniest drop
of neon-green food coloring,

and it's starting to look
like a pretty close comparison

to the reflector on the glove.

Jujhar, look.

-[Jujhar, Oh, close.
-[Julie] And then I'll dust on top of it.

I think it'll lighten it up enough.

How'd you get that color?
That's a hard color to get, Julie.

-That's coming from the color master?
-Neon is so hard.

But the issue is
that it needs that reflective touch.

So there's actually
a glow-in-the-dark neon petal dust.

And so I put the dust
on top of my fondant base color,

and it actually looks pretty spot-on.

Who knew that you could actually
make fluorescent neon fondant?

{\an8}-One hour left, bakers. One hour.
-[Grace exclaims]

[Grace] This is crazy.

[rock music playing]

[Jujhar] Finally, I can move on
to the details.

[Mikey's voice] You got this, Julie.

-Can that be my ringtone?
-[laughter]

[softly] Oh, man.

One hour left, and I still have
a lot of details to put in,

and I'm kinda freakin' out.

Eee!

The tricky part of this hose
is the coupling,

which is at the end of the hose.

And I need a perfect circle,
because if it squishes even a little bit,

it's going to be a dead giveaway.

To achieve this perfect circle,
I'm going to use tempered chocolate

and pour it inside a ring mold
lined with acetate,

because I know
that's going to hold its shape perfectly.

♪ Whoo-hoo ♪

I think it'll be good.

[focused music playing]

Stick it to this side.

I'm really stressing.

[exhales sharply]

I'm just rushing myself
to get everything done.

I'm not giving as much attention
to every detail as I want to,

but I have to have a finished cake.

Oh, man.

[siren wails]

{\an8}Oh my God!

{\an8}-Thirty minutes.
-[laughter]

[energetic music playing]

Just one more side.

I'm still working on covering my boot
with modeling chocolate

and blending all the seams in.

I still have a lot of details I hope I can
push through and get done in time.

[singsong] I don't think
I have time to do this.

I opened my bakery,
I didn't have any funds to do so,

and I'm in a lot of debt, you can say,
so I need to win!

-[all] Yeah!
-[Mikey] Let's do it.

-I'm shook.
-Let's give it up for Julie!

[Sherry] Julie!

-[Mikey] Julie!
-[Storm] Hello, Julie!

Cake wall, spin.

[tense music playing]

Here we go, judges.

Julie made a firefighter's glove.

Ooh.

Oh, man. Okay.

[Mikey] And you are trying to find it.

Oh boy. Good luck, judges.

{\an8}Your time starts

{\an8}now!

{\an8}-[tense music playing]
-[timer beeping]

{\an8}-[Adam] Oh boy!
-[Sherry] What?

-Oh my gosh!
-Okay. The fing...

Look at the fingers. One is really shiny.

-They have sass.
-[laughter]

[Adam] Two, I feel like it's sort of dull.

I feel like Two
is intentionally fake wrinkled.

-[Mikey] Ten seconds.
-[Sherry] Number Three is the least shiny.

Three's fingers are sort of falling down.

I don't know
if that means it's cake or not.

What about Four? The material
on the bottom is wrinkly on Four.

-[Adam] Yep.
-Five seconds, judges.

I think it's Two! I don't know.

-What do you think?
-[Sherry] Storm... I trust Storm.

[Mikey] Three, two, one. Lock it in!

[bell dings]

-Time's up.
-Whoo! Whoo!

[applause]

{\an8}[Mikey] Just under the wire.

{\an8}[Adam] Man!

-Whoo!
-[Jujhar] Wow.

How are y'all feeling? Sherry?

-You all right?
-I'm just shook.

-Do you see how dropped my jaw is?
-[laughter]

[Mikey] Let's see how you did.
You chose Number Two.

What looks cakey about Two?

The bottom. The str... It's too square.

-[Sherry] It has a boxy bottom.
-It... Like a... Like a wedding cake.

So is it just the bottom?

The bottom, and then the hand, again,
it's like a "come here" gesture.

[Adam] Yeah, it is.

-[Sherry] Right.
-Pick me.

[laughs]

Okay, let's see if you were right.

Julie, if this is cake,
you'll be up for elimination,

{\an8}but if it's not,
you could win up to $10,000.

{\an8}-This is a big cut here.
-[suspenseful music playing]

{\an8}Do you know what I'm gonna ask?

Is it cake?

{\an8}Let's find out.

{\an8}Is it cake?

-No! Not cake!
-Oh my God.

-Not cake. Julie!
-[upbeat music playing]

Congratulations, you tricked our judges,

and you might be walking away
with up to $10,000.

-Well done.
-[Adam] Julie.

-Yes, Julie!
-Well done.

Thank you, guys.

When they turned around,
I immediately was like,

"Number One's a real glove."

So let's just say Number One's cake

and then I can get
a better sort of barometer

on how bad I am at this game.

-Going the opposite of your instincts?
-Yes.

Actually, now that I notice,
the fingers are shorter in Number One.

Well, let's find out
what's goin' on with this one. Shall we?

-[Adam] Oh-h*-h*!
-[all exclaiming]

[Sherry] Yeah.

-Yeah.
-Jeez Louise!

[Sherry] Yeah.

So this is good to know. Whatever I think
is real right off the bat is cake.

-Is cake.
-You have a new strategy.

I have a new strategy.

We still got another spin to do,
so let's not waste any time.

Cake wall... Do you want to do it, Jujhar?

Spin!

-Mikey] Wow.
-[laughter]

[Mikey] Coming around,
Jujhar made a firefighter's boot.

-Oh!
-Okay. They're bigger than I expected.

Wow, it looks good.

[Mikey] Let's see
if you can find it, judges.

-Oh man. Okay.
-[nervous chuckling]

{\an8}You're time starts... now!

{\an8}-[Adam] Oh boy!
-[Sherry] Okay, I was hoping to see laces.

-There are no laces.
-There's one that doesn't have handles.

[Sherry] Ah! This is so stressful.

[Adam] One is sort of
pointing away from us.

-[Sherry] Yeah.
-It's too, like, placed.

Like they want us to pick that one.

-[Sherry] Two doesn't have the handles.
-[Storm] Okay.

[Mikey] Ten seconds.

[Sherry] Okay, Three has
a very realistic roundness at the toe.

Yes, that is definitely a real boot.

[Sherry] Four, it's like
it's been through some stuff. Weather.

Like some dirt.

Three, I think, is the realest,
so it could be three.

Number Two. No handles.
Let's go no handles.

[Mikey] Five seconds, judges.

Weird if he chose to be
the only one with no handles.

-But also maybe he ran out of time.
-[Storm] Two!

-[Mikey] Lock it in!
-Two!

-[bell dings]
-[Mikey] Time is up.

-[Sherry] No handles.
-[Adam] They all look so much like boots.

{\an8}-[Storm] I have no idea.
-[Adam] We just went with the no handles.

{\an8}[Mikey] Cutting it close.

Let's see how you did.

You decided on Number Two.

I heard a lot about handles.

It would be, like, not safe
to make a fire boot without handles,

'cause it's all about...

-Oh, quickness.
-"Quick! Get into the fire."

-[Sherry] Right.
-The fire needs to be attended to.

-[Storm] Exactly.
-[laughter]

[Mikey] Jujhar.

There's a lot riding on this one.

If this is cake, you will be automatically
eliminated from the competition.

Oh jeez.

But if it's not cake, then you'll be
up for the win along with Grace and Julie.

[suspenseful music playing]

Is it cake?

-Nope! Not cake!
-[upbeat music playing]

[Storm] Oh.

[Mikey] Jujhar, congratulations!
You fooled our judges.

I'm so proud.

[Mikey] Judges, last chance
to redeem yourselves here.

-Where do you think the cake is?
-Now I'm thinkin' it's Number One.

I refuse to believe
they put another winning cake at One.

I just refuse to believe.

All right, let's see this cake.
This gorgeous cake.

[suspenseful music playing]

Ooh, we got some... Ooh, look at that.

-Wow.
-[Mikey] Ooh, nice and pretty.

[applause]

Wow, that's wild to me.

[applause continues]

[Mikey] Wow. Ooh.

Jujhar, this is an amazing cake.

-Well done. Nice work.
-[woman] Whoo!

Bakers, congrats.
For the first time this season,

all three of our bakers fooled our judges.

-[woman] Whoo!
-[Mikey] Which means...

[suspenseful music playing]

Wait for it.

-No one is getting eliminated today!
-[all gasp]

[all cheer]

[Mikey] I'm goin' crazy!

-No one's getting eliminated!
-Oh my...

-I feel like we should be eliminated.
-[laughing] Yeah, yeah, yeah.

-We lost.
-[Mikey] All right.

All three of you are up for the win,

and one of you will walk away
with a lotta money.

And, judges, it is up to you to decide.

It's time to taste some cakes!

-Yeah!
-Whoo!

-Yes!
-[Storm] Exciting!

Cake wall, spin.

[tense music playing]

Come on up. The taste
and the details of these cakes

will help you determine
who will be today's winner.

We'll start with Grace and the hose.

-Okay.
-[laughter]

[Mikey] Please tell the judges
about your cake.

[Grace] I have for you
a vanilla cake with a rum soak

and gingerbread Swiss meringue buttercream
with white-chocolate pearls.

This is real good.

[Adam] You think that there's water
running through this,

and what's really running through it
is just delicious cake.

-[Sherry] Yes.
-[laughter]

What did you use to create the dirt?

-[Grace] Edible dust.
-[Storm] I think that's what fooled me.

I had edible dust in college once.

[laughter]

Y'all ready to move on?

-Can I pry you?
-I am. I don't think they are.

[laughter]

Julie, can you please tell the judges
about your cake?

[Julie] It's a cookies-and-cream cake
with a Nutella buttercream,

topped with toasted hazelnuts
in between the layers.

Oh, hazelnut. This is really good.

-This is poetic.
-[laughter]

That buttercream acts as the cement
in the foundation...

of life.

-[laughter]
-[Adam] Yes, this is true.

The piping on the outside
of the leather of the gloves.

This one, I was like,
"Definitely not cake."

The attention to detail is amazing.

[chuckles]

We can move on to Jujhar's cake.

Tell them about the flavors in your cake.

[Jujhar] It's a lemon-ginger cake
with a lemonade syrup.

It has a jalapeño-caramel buttercream
to add some fieriness

and a almond-and-caramel crunch.

-[Storm] Wow.
-Oh, I just got a jalapeño spice.

I'm feeling the heat
in the back of my throat.

-[Sherry] Yeah.
-No, it's spicy.

-No.
-Are you okay?

-[Adam] Is it...
-He's being a jokester.

-Good. I needed water.
-[laughs]

This is, I think for you,
gonna be a real foot in the door.

-[laughter]
-[Adam] Because it's impressive.

No, you have a real "shoe-in"
in the industry here.

-Thanks. [laughs]
-[laughter]

Okay, judges, you've tasted all the cakes.

Please take a moment,
deliberate amongst yourselves,

and decide today's winner.

[tense music playing]

What do we think?

Jujhar's presentation was phenomenal.

-[Adam] Jujhar crushed.
-[Storm] Jujhar did the dang thing.

But there's a lot of flavors there,
and each one is great,

but how do you feel
about all of them together?

[Storm] Yeah.

[Adam] Let's move up the body
to the hands.

I think the glove is the one I was most
sad about having to move on from eating.

-[Sherry] I understand.
-Okay.

The texture on the outside,
that was impressive.

-Yeah, very.
-We really thought it was a used glove.

The only thing
that I would have done different,

maybe making the fingers a little longer.

The hose, I feel like the way it falls,
the way it bends,

it just sold me in the texture,
sold me in the structure.

And the taste.

The taste blew me away.

Okay, judges, have you reached a decision?

[Adam] We have.

The three of you guys
made it super-duper hard for us today.

Y'all's cakes just blew us away.

There was one cake
that was the full package,

and we decided that
that cake is our winner.

Yes.

[Adam] The winner is...

[suspenseful music playing]

[all] Grace!

-Yay!
-[Mikey] Gra-hey-heyce!

Thank you!

{\an8}Congratulations! You just won $5,000

{\an8}and you'll continue on
to our Cake Or Cash? round

where you could win an additional $5,000.

Well done, Grace!

-Thank you. Thank you.
-[applause]

Julie and Jujhar, excellent job today.

You're both safe,

and you can return to the gallery.

-Congrats, guys.
-Julie and Jujhar, phenomenal.

Judges, sadly our time has come to an end.

We had some fun. We ate some cake.

-Goodbye.
-Oh, it's moving!

-Bye, y'all!
-So bittersweet.

-[Mikey] Sherry...
-Keep in touch.

-[Mikey] ...Adam, and Storm, everybody!
-Whoo! Is It Cake?

Call me!

-What's your number?
-[Sherry] Can you do my wedding?

[laughter]

Grace, you know what I just realized?

It's time to play Cake Or Cash?

-[cheering]
-[Mikey] Yes!

[dramatic rhythmic music plays]

Grace, you already won $5,000.

Now is your chance for $5,000 more.

[cheering and applause]

All you gotta do, Grace, is find the cake.

It's so hard.

Last time you were up here,
it was with Henderson.

Y'all won some money.

Then Henderson came up here,
did not find the cake.

So if you now win and find the cake,
you not only will win money,

you will embarrass Henderson.

-Oh.
-[laughter]

-[Mikey] Are you ready?
-Yes!

All right. Cake wall, spin.

Okay, Grace, on the other side
of the cake wall are two fire hydrants...

-[group exclaiming]
-[Mikey] ...sprayin' cash.

One of them is real.
The other is, yep, cake.

-If you guess the cake, you get the cash.
-[Henderson] Oh, wow.

Here we go.

{\an8}You have 15 seconds, Grace.
Your time starts now!

{\an8}-[tense music playing]
-[timer beeping]

-Oh my God.
-[Julie] What?

[Mikey] Ten seconds, Grace.

-[timer beeping]
-[Julie, softly] What?

-[Mikey] Five seconds.
-[Grace] I don't... I...

[Mikey] Three, two, one.
Lock one in, Grace!

-[bell dings]
-[applause]

-[Mikey] How you feelin'?
-I have no idea.

{\an8}[Mikey] You locked in Two.

{\an8}-[ding]
-[Grace] Full guess. Hundred percent.

[Mikey] Let's see how you did.

Now I think it's One, but I don't know.

-I don't know.
-[Mikey] Stick with your instinct!

-Believe in your choice!
-Okay.

Grace, you've already won $5,000.
Did you just double it?

And just for you, Grace...

Why am I so nervous?

-We're busting out the double handler.
-[Grace] Oh my God.

-Ooh-hoo.
-Fancy.

Here we go. [exhales]
Grace, I hope you got it right.

[suspenseful music playing]

[Julie] Oh.

Oh my God. Oh my God!

-Yes!
-[applause]

[screams]

-It's cake!
-[cheering and applause]

-[Timmy] Wow.
-[Mikey] Grace.

{\an8}You just won another $5,000...

{\an8}-Yes!
...for a grand total of $10,000, Grace!

{\an8}-Whoo!
-[applause]

-[Julie] Whoo-hoo!
-[Mikey] Congrats. I'm so excited.

Julie, Henderson, Timmy, Jujhar,
get over here and join us.

-[Grace] Oh my God!
-[Mikey] Come on.

-I can't believe it.
-Congratulations.

The five of you are headed...

[suspenseful music playing]

...to the semifinals, baby!

[Grace] Yay! Yes!

-[Mikey] The semifinals!
-[upbeat music playing]

-I have to call my mom. I'm so sorry.
-Why is he calling his mom?

Can you believe it? Yeah, all five of 'em
are going to the semifinals.

I know.

No, Henderson has sleeves right now.
He's not...

-He's not sleeveless.
-[laughter]

[ding]

[upbeat music continues]
