Well, my dad always said the

most valuable thing we have is time,

so I like to give a little

My grandpa got me hooked.

He was an amazing photographer.

He could see completely different things

through his lens

than I could through mine.

Now picture a beautiful scene

of snow-covered mountains,

flurries lightly falling over pine trees,

pine trees that are so tall

they look like they're touching a gray sky,

which even though it's nighttime,

still looks like it's glowing.

when you take that picture?

- Yeah, yeah, open... open your eyes.

Um, I see snow-covered mountains.

- Mm-hmm.

- The dark sky and pine trees.

- Okay, nice.

- Why?

Well, my grandfather would have

seen the spotted baby deer

with its mother in between those trees

eating brush

that wasn't covered by snow.

- That's beautiful.

- That's photography.

But it's not always beautiful.

I mean, I got my start

in commercial photography.

It pays well, you get to travel a lot,

but there's not a lot
