Junior/Alma: Huh!?

Junior/Tia Gloria/Alma: [laugh]

Uncle Nestor: Hey-hey! [bicycle bell]

Junior: Whoa. Uncle Nestor, is that yours?!

Uncle Nestor: It is now, sobrino!

Mr. Huda was giving it away.

And I couldn't say no.

Is this my lucky day or what?!

Tia Gloria: Hold up, hold up!

Amorcito, I've never seen you ride a bike before.

Uncle Nestor: That's because I don't know how to.

But that all changes today!

Junior: Um, excuse me.

So you're going to learn to ride a bike today?

Uncle Nestor: But of course!

I am an actor!

So I can act, like someone who knows how to ride a bicycle!

Besides, how hard can it be?

Tia Gloria/Junior/Alma: [gasp]

Uncle Nestor: I'm going down!

Tia Gloria: Careful, mi amor!

Uncle Nestor: No te preocupes, mi amor!

I am very careful.

Eee!

Tia Gloria: Mhm.

Alma: Uncle Nestor, to ride a bike, you gotta learn to balance and pedal.

Uncle Nestor: Impressive! You must be some kind of bicycle expert.

Alma: I am.

Junior: Me too!

Alma: [gasp] Hey!

We can teach you how to ride a bike!

Junior: Yeah!

Uncle Nestor: Well, every good actor needs good teachers.

And an audience!

[bicycle bell]

Tia Gloria: Okay, have fun, mi vida!

Mwah!

Uncle Nestor: Before you know it, I'll be able to ride my bike just like that.

I want to feel the wind in my mustache.

Alma/Junior: [giggle]

Alma: Here we are!

Uncle Nestor: So, shall I get on my bike?

Alma: First, let's pretend to ride a bike.

Uncle Nestor: Brilliant!

No one should take to the stage without rehearsing first.

Alma: Okay, hold your arms out, like this.

Like you're holding handlebars.

Now, sit up straight.

Keep your eyes forward.

Then pedal!

Junior: You're doing it!

Uncle Nestor: I am, aren't I?!

Rising a bicycle is much easier than I thought.

♪ I'm peddling my feet,

♪ Riding down the street,

♪ Gliding to the beat.

Alma/Uncle Nestor: And it's sa-weet!

Alma/Junior/Uncle Nestor: ♪ I'm peddling my feet,

Woman: [chuckle]

Alma/Uncle Nestor/Junior: [laugh]

Alma: Okay, I think we're done rehearsing.

And now, you're ready to ride your real bike!

Uncle Nestor: Today, you will be tamed, my two-wheeled stallion!

Junior: Yeah!

Uncle Nestor: I'm ready to ride!

So sit up straight, look forward and pedal, right?

Alma: Yep! But first, push with your feet.

Now sit up straight, keep your eyes forward.

Balance, and when you're ready, pedal!

Uncle Nestor: Got it.

Sit up straight.

Eyes forward.

Balance.

Junior: You're doing it! You're balancing!

Uncle Nestor: I think I'm ready to pedal!

Alma: Yeah, but remember: sit up straight, eyes forward, and keep balancing.

Uncle Nestor: Ahh-ah!

Alma: [gasp] Oh! Junior: Yikes!

Alma/Junior: [effort]}

Junior: I ran into that bush when I learned how to ride, too.

Uncle Nestor: Not nice, Señor Bush!

Alma: Are you okay, Uncle Nestor?

Uncle Nestor: Not only am I okay, I'm ready to try again! [blows]

Junior: You can do it, Uncle Nestor!

Uncle Nestor: Should I pedal now?

Alma: Uh-huh!

Put one foot on.

Then the other.

Then pedal!

Uncle Nestor: Ooh! [gasp]

Junior: That's it! Woohoo!

Uncle Nestor: Ohh, look at me. I am one with the bike!

Junior: I don't know what that means, but yeah!

Uncle Nestor: Ha-ha!

Alma: Push the pedal!

Uncle Nestor: Uh-oh.

Alma: Now push the other one!

Now the first one again!

Uncle Nestor: Ahh! Oo-ah!

Alma: The other one!

Uncle Nestor: Huh? Ooo!

Alma: No, the other, other one!

Uncle Nestor: Which is the other, other one?

Alma: Your left foot!

Ohh! Keep looking forward, Uncle Nestor!

Junior: Go, Uncle Nestor, go!

Alma: And don't forget to sit up straight and balance and pedal!

Uncle Nestor: Balance, pedal, look forward, sit up, uh, got it.

[bird chirps]

Alma/Junior: [gasp]

Uncle Nestor: Don't got it!

[bird chirps]

Uncle Nestor: Critics.

Alma/Junior: [effort]

Junior: You kinda did it, Uncle Nestor!

Uncle Nestor: I certainly did, didn't I?

Which means I must try it again!

I, Nestor, am riding a bicycle!

I can almost feel the wind in my mustache!

Junior: Ride, Uncle Nestor, ride!

Alma: Just remember, sit up straight, look forward, balance, pedal!

Uncle Nestor: [nervous stammer] Look up, pedal forward, balance, pedal.

Alma: It's sit up straight, look forward, balance, and pedal.

Alma/Uncle Nestor: Sit up straight, look forward, balance, pedal!

Junior: Looking good, Uncle Nestor!

Alma: Oh!

I just thought of another important step!

Uncle Nestor: What's that?

Alma: Remember not to fall!

Uncle Nestor: Whaa?!

Alma: [gasp] Turn!

Uncle Nestor: i¡No entiendo! Is that a new, new step?!

Alma: Yes! Turn, now! But look forward!

Uncle Nestor: Aaah!

Alma/Junior: [exhale]

Uncle Nestor: i¡Adiós, Señor Bush!

You won't get me again!

Alma: Keep looking forward!

Uncle Nestor: Right! And sit up straight!

Uh-um-um, balance and, uh-uh.

What was the other one?

Alma: Uncle Nestor, watch where you're going!

Uncle Nestor: That wasn't it.

Alma: Uncle Nestor, look forward!

Uncle Nestor: Now I remember, it's '‘pedal'!

Alma: And turn!

Uncle Nestor: Ahh! I gotta turn!

Alma: No, the other way!

Uncle Nestor: Ohh. Oh-oh, O -uh!

Whew!

Hola, Señor Bush!

Alma: Wow, you didn't fall this time!

Uncle Nestor: Yes! Oh, woah, I'm going down!

Alma: Oh! Junior: Ooh!

Junior/Alma: [effort]

Junior: Not nice, Señor Bush!

Uncle Nestor: Bueno, shall we continue with my bicycle lessons tomorrow?

I always give a better performance the day after the first rehearsal.

Junior: Okay. Let's go home and get you a juice box.

Uncle Nestor: Ooh! Do you have cherry?

Alma: I was sure I could teach Uncle Nestor how to ride a bike.

But nothing I did helped him.

What went wrong?

I gotta think about this.

Uncle Nestor: Balance, pedal, look forward, sit up, uh, got it.

Oo-hoo!

Alma: He remembered all the steps.

So, how come he kept falling?

Junior: That's it! Wahoo!

Go, Uncle Nestor, go!

Uncle Nestor: Look at me! I am one with the bike!

Alma: Huh. He didn't fall when Junior cheered for him.

Under, grab, turn, pull.

Sa-weet! I did it!

Junior: Me too!

I did it my style. Junior style!

Alma: Wait a minute.

Junior and I both learned how to crochet, but in different ways.

Alma: Oh, that's it!

I know what to do!

Alma: Wait!

Uncle Nestor, will you try riding the bike again one more time, ¿por favor?

Alma: I have a new idea!

Uncle Nestor: Ooh, I love new ideas!

Alma: You already know what to do.

So now, don't think about the steps, just feel '‘em!

Uncle Nestor: Marvelous!

Anything else I need to know?

Alma: Mm-mm. Junior: Nope.

Uncle Nestor: [deep breath] Alright, here I go!

Alma: You're doing great!

Junior: You're doing greater than great!

Uncle Nestor: Ah-hoo! I am! I am!

My mustache is so happy!

Alma/Junior: [cheering]

Junior: Let's go!

Uncle Nestor: Uh-oh!

You again.

Alma: You can do it!

Junior: You're doing it!

Uncle Nestor: I won't be paying you any more visits, Señor Bush!

Junior: Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Alma: i¡Wepa!

Alma: Yes, Uncle Nestor!

Uncle Nestor: Uh, one question. [nervous chuckle]

How do I stop?!

Alma: Squeeze the brakes!

Uncle Nestor: Thank you, lady and gentleman!

And now, I'm going to give you what you all want!

[rings bicycle bell] An encore!

Junior: Oh yea!

Papi: Got any...

Sharks?

Alma: Go fish!

Papi: Mhm.

Alma: Do you have a clownfish?

Papi: Sí, here you go.

[fish swimming sounds]

Alma: Another match. I win again!

Papi: Nice!

Alma: Am I good or what?

Papi: In honor of Alma, the Go Fish Champion!

I'm making my famous tuna surprise sandwiches for lunch.

[chef's kiss]

Fresh from the can!

Alma: Yum!

Hey, Becka! Whatcha up to?

Becka: Hi, Alma! I'm mailing some letters for my mom.

Alma: Where is your mom?

Becka: At home.

She's letting me go to the mailbox all by myself!

Pretty cool, huh?

Alma: Yeah, sa-weet! Have fun!

Becka: Bye, Alma!

Papi: [humming]

Alma: What happened to the tuna surprise?

Papi: The surprise is...

We're out of tuna.

And pretty much everything else we need for lunch.

So I'm going to the grocery store.

Alma: [gasp] Papi, can I go to the store for you? Like all by myself?

Papi: ¿De veras? You want to?

Alma: Uh-huh!

I promise to be really careful.

Papi: Hmm, I guess you wouldn't need to cross the street.

And I could keep an eye on you from here to the corner.

Alma: Could someone watch me from there?

Papi: Oh, sí, Mami's at the café.

She can make sure you get to the store.

So, I say...

Alma: I hope he says, '‘Yes!'

Papi: Yes.

Alma: Yes?!

Papi: Yes!

Alma: Yes!

♪ Dee-de, dee-de-de-dee!

Alma: i¡Gracias, Papi!

Papi: Uh, Alma?

Don't you want to know what to get at the store?

Alma: Oh right.

Papi: [chuckle]

We need milk, a can of tuna, lettuce and multigrain bread.

Alma: Milk, tuna, lettuce, bread with seeds.

Easy peasy!

Papi: That's it! Here's some money.

I'll text Mami to watch you when you get to the corner.

[Papi's phone beeps]

Papi: Mami's in position.

All set for your first solo trip to the store?!

Alma: Okay!

Papi: Uh, where are you going?

Alma: To get ready!

So what do I need?

It's pretty sunny so I'd better take this.

Oh, and-

[Captain Banana voice] Captain Banana, to keep me company!

There. All packed!

Junior: Super Junior and Super Tina, to the rescue!

Junior: Ahh! Alma: Whoops!

Alma: Hey, guess where I'm going?!

To the grocery store!

By myself!

Junior: For real?!

Can I come too?

Alma: Sorry, Junior, this is my first time going by myself.

But maybe someday I could take you somewhere.

Junior: Awesome!

Alma: [giggle]

Junior: We'll be ready!

Abuelo: [humming]

Alma: Abuelo! Need anything from the grocery store?

I can get it '‘cause I'm going there.

Ah, and it looks like you're all packed for a big trip.

Alma: Gotta be ready for anything!

Alma: I can't play right now, Chacho,

I gotta get to the store. By myself!

Papi: ¿Lista, Almita?

Alma: Mhm!

Papi: This should hold everything you're getting.

Alma: Thanks, Papi!

What am I getting again?

Papi: [chuckle] Milk, a can of tuna, lettuce.

Alma: Bread with seeds.

Papi: That's it!

Alma: No, thanks. I remember now.

Here we go!

Don't worry. I got this!

Papi: Hola, mi vida.

The eagle has left the nest.

Mami: This mama bird is watching and waiting.

Alma: [humming]

Alma: Last time I got distracted along the way.

Papi: Okay, Alma.

Alma: Sa-weet! i¡Gracias, Papi!

Papi: Of course.

Alma: Milk, can of tuna, lettuce. Got it!

You can tell Mami this eagle is ready to fly!

Papi: [chuckle]

André: Hey Alma, what do you think a space hippo eats?

Alma/Papi: [laugh]
