on the continent of Africa.

Yadina: As he grew up, Kofi helped lots of people,

and entire countries, come together to solve disagreements.

Brad: Quick! Let's start the show.

Yadina: Wasn't that fun, Dr. Zoom?

Our first Nature Troop fund-raiser!

Xavier: We raised a lot of money for a really good cause.

Brad: Huh? Save the turtles?

But, we picked butterflies, Yadina.

I'm positive we picked turtles.

which animal to donate to.

Yadina: Uh excuse me, if you're trying to think up pet names,

Kofi: [chuckles] Actually,

my friend and I just convinced the school

to get better food in the cafeteria.

Brad: Ooh! That's great!

Kofi: Yes, but now, we can't decide

what snack to have on Fridays.

I think it should be bananas.

School Mate: And I say it should be peanuts.

Brad: Hm! Boy, that's a toughie.

Both tasty snacks.

Xavier: [nods] Mm-hmm. How are you gonna pick one?

Kofi: Hmm, maybe we don't have to pick one.

After all, finding a compromise can help everyone.

Yadina: "Compromise?"

Kofi: A compromise is when both sides agree

to make some changes to what they're asking for,

in a way that can help everyone.

Like... [snaps/gasp]

What if we have half a banana,

with crushed peanuts on top?!

School Mate: That sounds...fair.

Fairly delicious!

[laughter] Thanks, Kofi.

Xavier: Wow, Kofi.

You are good at solving problems.

So here's another one for you: which is better,

butterflies or turtles?

Kofi: Hmmm, butterflies or turtles?

I don't know.

I've always liked doves.

Xavier: Doves?

[thinking] Hm...

[gasps] That's it! Soccer!

Brad: Hmm, where did soccer come from?

Xavier: I dunno.

Yadina, Brad, you two could play a game of soccer,

and whoever wins gets to decide which animal we donate to!

Yadina: We can't play soccer with only two people.

Oh! Let's see who can kick the ball down the field first!

Brad: Ooor, who can bounce the ball higher!

Yadina: But, you're taller than me,

It wouldn't be fair.

Let's race!

Brad: Bounce.

Yadina: Race! Brad: Bounce!

Kofi: Whoa-whoa-whoa!

I think we need the palaver tree.

Yadina/Brad: Huh?

Kofi: It's a special spot, where people go

when they disagree on something and need to talk.

Xavier: A tree that can settle the argument for me?

Kofi: Well, that's not exactly how it--

Xavier: Let's go!

Kofi: The palaver tree is that way.

Xavier: Alright!

Xavier: Hey, this tree has leaves just like the ones

from the Secret Museum.

Yadina: Beautiful.

Nice and shady, too.

Brad: Is it true people come here to settle arguments?

Kofi: Oh, yes!

The palaver tree has heard it all.

So, what's your argument about?

Yadina: Well, we raised some money with our Nature Troop,

and I want to donate it to help turtles.

Kofi: Hm. Why turtles?

Yadina: Because they're the BEST!

And...sea turtles go through A LOT.

They hatch from little tiny eggs buried on the beach,

and have to crawl through the sand to reach the water.

But, there are hungry birds and crabs everywhere!

Then, waiting for them in the water... are sharks!!

Brad: I guess sharks don't like peanuts with bananas?

Yadina: Nope.

The turtles NEED our help.

Besides, how can you say 'no' to this turtley sweet face?

Xavier: Wow, I had no idea

sea turtles go through all that!

Maybe we should donate to them?

Kofi: But there's more than one side to every argument.

We should hear what Brad has to say.

Brad: Thank you. [clears throat]

I'd like to donate the money, to the sweetest,

flappiest creature of all.

The butterfly.

They also go through a lot.

They start off as caterpillars crawling around

in search of the perfect food, and the perfect safe place

to spin their cocoon,

so they can transform

and grow their wings!

And butterflies are very important.

They're pollinators!

Which means they help flowers and food grow.

And they're nice to look at.

Ah! Dah-da-da, dah da.

Dah-da-dah, da-da-da, duh da.

Aah! Whoof!

So that's why I think we should donate to the butterflies.

[clapping] Xavier: Boy,

Yadina and Brad BOTH made

really good points.

Yadina: I didn't realize all that stuff about butterflies.

Brad: And I didn't know how much sea turtles go through.

Xavier: [sigh] Now I really don't know which side to pick.

Kofi: Maybe you don't have to pick a side.

Finding a compromise can help everyone.

Remember when my friend and I couldn't decide

if we should have bananas or peanuts,

so we compromised and had a bit of both?

Xavier: Oh yeah! It doesn't have to be one or the other.

[gasps] We could give half the money we raised

to the turtle fund, and half to the butterfly fund!

Brad: The butterflies won't get all the money,

but, it's good they'll get some.

Yadina: And so do the turtles!

It's a win-win!

Kofi: Exactly.

That's what a compromise is all about!

Xavier: [happy sigh] Thank you, compromise.

Kofi: You're welcome. Bye!

Yadina: Bye Kofi! Brad: Bye!

Xavier: Berby, let's go home.

Berby: [bleep blarp]

Brad: [off screen] This, is for the turtle fund.

Xavier: [happy sigh] Music to my ears.

try performing as a team.

That's who we're going to meet!

Caroline: My brother is a musician.

It must be SO much fun to

play and write your own songs.

William: It is. I can teach you if you want.

Caroline: But, music is YOUR thing.

William: Sometimes, sharing things you like

can make them even more fun!

Caroline: Wonderful!

Yadina: [frustrated sigh]

Xavier: [whispering] What did I say?

Yadina: Where are we?

Brad: Uh- when are we?

Xavier: England! In the year .

And we're in the King's castle courtyard.

[owls howls] Brad: [startled] Aah!

William: Hello there!

Xavier/Brad: [relieved sigh]

Xavier: William! Caroline!

Do you have a concert here tonight?

Caroline: No. Actually,

William is the King's Court Astronomer now!

William: [giggles] We're both astronomers now.

[giggle] Yadina: Uh,

Dr. Zoom was wondering: what's an astronomer?

Brad: And why are you out here in the dark?

That question was mine.

William: [giggles] An astronomer is a scientist

who looks at everything in space.

The sun, the moon,

planets, and stars.

So they can learn about them!

Caroline: And we're not exactly in the dark...

Trio: [off screen] Woooow!

Brad: Do you see all those stars?

Xavier: Whoa!

Brad: That one looks like a sheep.

Caroline: This is so MUCH better

than looking at bubbles in a wash tub.

You should see the sky through the telescope William built.

Come here, here have a look!

It's pointing at something amazing!

Xavier: [off screen] Wow!

Caroline: William thought it was a comet.

William: But then we realized

it was actually an undiscovered planet!

Xavier: [gasps] Woaaah!!

So, you do astronomy together,

just like you did music together?

William: Yes! We can still enjoy music

or the stars by ourselves if we want.

But sometimes, sharing things you like

can make them even more fun!

Caroline: [gasps] I found something! Something new!

[off screen] Hmm...? It's not where any star

or planet should be.

[excited] Yes, THIS is a comet!

I discovered a comet!

William: Huh?

[off screen] Wooah, yes!

Yadina: Her own comet.

That's SO exciting!

William liked music and astronomy, and so did Caroline.

Sharing that with each other made it even better.

Yadina: Being part of the magic show was turtle-tastic!

Xavier: I can still do magic by myself when I want.

But sharing it with Yadina

Caroline Herschel was the first woman to become

a professional scientist!

She discovered eight comets and changed the way

astronomers looked at the sky.

Yadina: William Herschel discovered Uranus,

the second-farthest planet from the sun,

and built tons of telescopes.

Brad: And they did a lot of it together.
