Orhun: Our goal for the final day is clearing the dungeon from floor to floor .

Orhun: Once we hit Floor , we'll use

Orhun: our teleportation crystals to head back and call it a day.

Sophia: Okay, we'll do our best!

Orhun: What is this feeling?

Orhun: The plan remains the same.

Orhun: We'll be dealing with the monsters the new recruits can't handle,

Orhun: and all of us chaperons will be joining in the boss fights.

Orhun: This should be doable.

Orhun: But for some reason, I sense something terrible from the Great Dungeon today.

Orhun: Is it because of the way he's looking at me?

Caroline: Hey, hey! Mister!

Caroline: What kind of monsters will we see today?

Caroline: I just can't wait to slaughter them! Can you?

Orhun: Caroline, you can't just rush at the monsters every time.

Orhun: You need to remember that you're a Defender.

Caroline: But then that means everybody else has to work extra hard!

Caroline: I want to be fighting on the front lines!

Caroline: So I'd like some more advice on fighting...

Orhun: There's a limit to what you can do as an individual.

Orhun: You should start thinking of yourself as part of a team while you're still new.

Caroline: You're no fun.

Logan: Orhun is being nice enough to give you advice.

Logan: Even the famous Albert said working together was important.

Orhun: By Albert, you mean Albert Sensible?

Logan: You know him?

Orhun: He was the undisputed ace of the Night Sky Silver Rabbits.

Orhun: Everyone knows him.

Orhun: I heard he died fighting the Black Dragon on Floor last year...

Logan: He's still a hero to everyone in the Silver Rabbits.

Caroline: But he died protecting one of his comrades.

Caroline: It was actually the Defender, who was supposed to protect him.

Logan: Hey...

Caroline: He knew that if he died, everyone's smile would disappear...

Caroline: That if he died, nothing would be left...

Caroline: So you just need to keep the people you're protecting far away from you.

Caroline: If I fight alone on the front lines,

Caroline: the others won't be in danger.

Sophia: Caroline...

Orhun: The look on her face...

Orhun: As an outsider, it looks like I'd better not get involved.

Orhun: Got it.

Orhun: We'll be counting on you today, Caroline.

Caroline: Yeah, leave it to me!

Sophia: Oh, Orhun!

Sophia: There was something I wanted you to tell me, too.

Sophia: What is it I lack?

Sophia: What do I need to get stronger?

Orhun: Hmm...

Logan: That's no fair, Sophia!

Logan: Orhun, tell me what I need to get stronger, too!

Orhun: Okay, okay!

Orhun: SOUTHERN GREAT DUNGEON FLOOR

Selma: Orhun!

Selma: Today's the last day.

Selma: Let's stay sharp.

Orhun: Yeah.

Selma: Looks like they've taken a liking to you.

Orhun: Yes.

Orhun: I was worried after that newspaper article,

Orhun: but it seems they've accepted me.

Selma: Logan and Caroline can both be a handful,

Selma: but they've got bright futures.

Selma: Look after them.

Selma: Oh, you were talking about Albert, right?

Orhun: Yeah.

Selma: His loss was a huge blow to us.

Selma: That's why the Heroes Party was able to take

Selma: the lead in conquering the Great Dungeon.

Orhun: The Black Dragon was tough for us, too.

Orhun: We might've lost someone easily, just like you lost him.

Selma: Albert was someone you could always count on.

Selma: We're still trying to fill the hole he left, but it's hard...

Orhun: I hope you find someone good!

Selma: You're playing dumb, huh?

Selma: Really, though, how about it?

Orhun: One party doesn't need two Enchanters.

Orhun: Especially if one of them is the best Enchanter on the continent.

Selma: Our clan leader said the same thing.

Selma: But you wanted to come with us as a swordsman.

Selma: I'll be watching during the floor boss battle to see what you can do.

Selma: SOUTHERN GREAT DUNGEON FLOOR

Selma: We'll be splitting into groups here.

Selma: We'll meet up just before the floor boss.

Selma: Groups One through Three, go with Bernard.

Selma: Groups Four through...

Sophia: It's kind of lonely that Group is all by ourselves.

Logan: It just shows how much they expect of us.

Sophia: But I am a little nervous, since it's just us.

Orhun: There are a lot of different paths through the dungeon.

Orhun: You're going to need to learn to split up and find the floor boss.

Logan: So this is training for that, huh?

Caroline: But I don't like the idea of getting lost here...

Orhun: That's why it's important to gather information in advance.

Orhun: All the adventurers make multiple expeditions to map the floor out,

Orhun: find the right path,

Orhun: and share that information with others.

Orhun: That's why the larger clans have an advantage.

Caroline: Then we'll have to have you share some information with us!

Caroline: You've been deeper into the Great Dungeon than anyone, after all!

Logan: That's right.

Logan: Tell us about the lower floors, and the deepest floors!

Logan: What are they like?

Orhun: Hmm, well, the lower floors start at Floor .

Orhun: They're like a snow-covered mountain.

Orhun: When you get deeper, a blizzard starts...

Caroline: What are the monsters like?

Caroline: Are they strong? Are they super strong?

Orhun: Well, there are ice lizards...

Sophia: The deepest floors start at floor !

Sophia: What are they like?

Orhun: A swamp. There's rotten...

Caroline: What are the monsters like?

Caroline: What about the floor bosses?

Orhun: One question per person!

Eleonora: Oh, Luna! What's the hurry?

Luna: Eleonora, bring theguild master here, now!

Eleonora: He's in a meeting. If you can wait a little—

Luna: There's no time!

Luna: We need to teleport everyone in the dungeon back to the surface, now!

Sophia: Something feels... off.

Logan: Yeah, we haven't seen any monsters.

Logan: With a room this big, there should be at least one...

Caroline: This is no fun at all.

Caroline: Come out, monsters!

Logan: Orhun, is floor usually like this?

Orhun: No, actually...

Orhun: It's the same nasty feeling I had since before I entered the dungeon...

Orhun: It's as if the monsters are afraid of something.

Sophia: It's creepy...

Caroline: Want to fight! Want to fight! Want to fight!

Caroline: There's one now!

Orhun: Wait, Caroline!

Orhun: Agility Down!

Caroline: Got it!

Orhun: I told you not to run off on your own.

Logan: Azure goblins are incredibly fast and strong.

Logan: If Orhun hadn't debuffed it...

Caroline: Who cares? I beat it!

Orhun: This time, you did.

Orhun: The Defender is the core of the party.

Orhun: If you're in danger,

Orhun: Logan and Sophia will do everything they can to save you.

Orhun: And you'll put your comrades in danger.

Caroline: Okay, you're right, but...

Caroline: Sorry, I didn't mean to.

Orhun: Oh, fine.

Orhun: Dodge-type Defenders have a type of defense called "active defense."

Orhun: I'll teach you.

Caroline: Really?

Orhun: I'm sure you won't listen if I just tell you to focus on defense, right?

Caroline: Yup, yup!

Caroline: So how does it work?

Caroline: Tell me, now!

Orhun: It's a method of drawing the enemy's attacks and then locking them down.

Caroline: Locking them down?

Orhun: Every living thing will physically prepare before launching an attack.

Orhun: For instance, by stepping forward before throwing a punch.

Orhun: If you slash at their legs at just that moment,

Orhun: they won't be able to step forward and attack.

Orhun: So if you can read their movements just before they attack,

Orhun: then hit the vital point they need for their strike,

Orhun: you can stop them from attacking.

Caroline: Wow!

Caroline: So now I can fight at the front, right?

Orhun: Your goal isn't to defeat them.

Orhun: You can't forget that you're a Defender whose job it is

Orhun: to draw the enemy's attention and stop them from attacking.

Caroline: Okay, got it!

Caroline: Thanks, mister!

Logan: Now teach me something!

Guildmaster: Exactly what happened, Oliver?

Luna: We want to ask you for a force teleport.

Guildmaster: Do you know what you're asking for?

Guildmaster: The mana cost of that teleport is incredible.

Guildmaster: We can't use it unless it's an emergency.

Guildmaster: Unless something really bad has happened...

Luna: The Black Dragon, the floor boss of floor ,

Luna: has very likely moved to somewhere in the higher, middle, or lower floors.

Guildmaster: Wh-What?

Guildmaster: The Black Dragon flew through a fickle gate?!

Luna: It's true.

Guildmaster: And you don't know where it went?

Luna: I'm sorry.

Luna: We had no idea a floor boss could even use magic items...

Luna: There's no way of telling when and where it could appear!

Luna: It's possible that someone has run into it already!

Luna: We'd like to ask you for a force teleport immediately! To save lives!

Eleonora: Guild master, the rules say we need to have a conference to discuss it first...

Luna: There's no time for that!

Luna: The people in the dungeon have no idea what's happened!

Orhun: You want some advice, huh, Logan?

Logan: I'd like to learn more about debuffs.

Orhun: Debuffs are tough.

Logan: So you won't tell me?

Orhun: Debuffs that weaken the enemy are an advanced type of support magic.

Orhun: As I'm sure you're aware,

Orhun: debuffs are influenced by the target's status more than buffs.

Orhun: You need to understand exactly what their magic resistance is

Orhun: and tune your spell accordingly.

Orhun: And floor bosses, as well as the powerful monsters

Orhun: you'll find in the deeper areas starting on floor ,

Orhun: aren't affected by them much.

Orhun: Even advanced adventurers who can use them usually don't,

Orhun: because they're not effective.

Orhun: You can use them,

Orhun: but you'll need to learn the exact magic resistance

Orhun: of every monster in the lower and deepest floors.

Logan: And I'm not ready...

Orhun: Your first priority needs to be learning to master the buffs you have,

Orhun: and gaining more experience.

Logan: All right.

Orhun: I'll teach you a fun way to use magic instead.

Orhun: Look behind you.

Logan: What was that?

Orhun: Trap magic. For trapping the enemy.

Logan: When did you set that?

Orhun: I didn't just use it now.

Orhun: I've been using it this whole time.

Logan: I had no idea.

Orhun: If you can reduce the risk of being attacked from behind,

Orhun: the party can focus just on the foes in front, right?

Logan: That's right.

Orhun: Using traps like I just did to restrict the enemy's avenues of attack

Orhun: and turn the b*ttlefield to your advantage

Orhun: is another part of an Enchanter's job.

Logan: An Enchanter's job is to turn the b*ttlefield to our advantage, huh?

Logan: Yes, I've got it!

Logan: Wow! He really is the kind of Enchanter I want to be!

Orhun: And lastly, Sophia.

Guildmaster: We'll begin preparing the force teleport.

Guildmaster: But this magic spell is big enough

Guildmaster: to teleport out every adventurer in the dungeon.

Guildmaster: It will take time to construct the spell and prepare the mana.

Man: Oliver, it's going to beyour responsibility

Man: for allowing this to happen.

Anneli: It's not our fault!

Derick: We did nothing wrong!

Man: And you call yourselves...

Guildmaster: Focus on the spell!

Guildmaster: Many lives are at stake...

Luna: Orhun...

Orhun: Hmm... what you need is Parallel Construction.

Sophia: Parallel Construction?

Orhun: The ability to construct two or more spells at once.

Orhun: Every advanced caster needs to be able to do it.

Sophia: That sounds very difficult.

Orhun: It's not. Once you're used to it, anybody can do two at once.

Orhun: Some people can do dozens at once.

Sophia: Dozens?!

Sophia: But why is Parallel Construction so important?

Sophia: I'd think that just being able to use

Sophia: special rank magic is enough for an advanced caster...

Orhun: When you get deep into the dungeon,

Orhun: a lot of monsters can't be defeated with a single special rank spell.

Orhun: And even if you fire them off in a chain, it takes time to prepare them.

Orhun: And while you're preparing them, you're powerless.

Orhun: That's where Parallel Construction comes in.

Orhun: If you can start on your second spell when the first is halfway ready,

Orhun: you can cast your spells more efficiently.

Sophia: That's true!

Sophia: I'd love to have less downtime.

Sophia: Are the monsters on the lower floors that strong?

Orhun: You can't beat them by just firing off a chain of powerful spells.

Sophia: Is that true?

Orhun: You can also choose to use weaker, mid-ranked spells in tandem

Orhun: with the rest of your party's attacks.

Orhun: Any magic can be useful depending on how you use it.

Sophia: That's great to know!

Orhun: You're already strong enough to fight on the middle floors.

Orhun: Have your elders in the Night Sky Silver Rabbits teach you.

Orhun: I'm sure Selma would be happy to.

Sophia: Y-Yeah.

Sophia: But I'd rather you teach me than my sister... maybe.

Orhun: Me?

Sophia: Is that not okay?

Orhun: I can teach you, I guess, but...

Selma: Orhun!

Orhun: If Selma says it's okay!

Sophia: Really?

Sophia: Thank you!

Sophia: My sister does whatever I ask her to, so it'll be fine!

Orhun: Of course.

Man: The spell's ready.

Woman: We'll begin empowering it with mana.

Guildmaster: As soon as it's charged, we'll begin the force teleport.

Guildmaster: I want the Heroes Party to defeat the Black Dragon.

Derick: Defeat?!

Anneli: Um, we still haven't recovered from fighting it the first time...

Anneli: Right?

Luna: All right.

Luna: We'll head out immediately.

Derick: Hey! You can't just...

Luna: Guild master... There is one request I'd like to make.

Selma: New recruits are to stay in the safe zone.

Selma: We chaperons will handle the floor boss alone.

Orhun: This is a good opportunity. Watch how we fight.

Bernard: Orhun, we'll be counting on you.

Orhun: I'll support you so you can concentrate on the fight.

Orhun: Let's take him down in just a few minutes.

Anthem: A few minutes, huh?

Caroline: That was what he was telling me about!

Logan: Active defense, huh?

Caroline: Wow!

Caroline: That's the kind of Defender I want to be!

Logan: He cut off its escape!

Logan: So he knew how the boss would move?

Sophia: Parallel Construction!

Sophia: So my sister can do five at once?

Sophia: It was over in an instant...

Caroline: I've never seen anyone lock down an enemy's movements like that...

Logan: So he's turning the battle to his advantage...

Logan: Okay, I get it.

Caroline: That's why the rest of the group was able to focus fully on attacking.

Logan: They really were working as a team.

Caroline: As a team, huh?

Sophia: Not a single movement was wasted...

Sophia: So that's what an advanced party looks like.

Sophia: I want to be an adventurer like them!

Oliver: Luna, why did you ask the guild master

Oliver: to pull out the people on floors through first?

Luna: Because Orhun's probably down there.

Anneli: What does that jack-of-all-trades have to do with this?

Luna: You still don't get it?

Luna: Right now, we're the weakest S-Rank party.

Luna: We can't possibly defeat the Black Dragon.

Derick: The weakest? How dare you?!

Luna: I'll be as clear as possible.

Luna: We can't fight without Orhun.

Luna: It's up to him whether we all survive this.

Luna: SOUTHERN GREAT DUNGEON FLOOR

Selma: Orhun, it's all you.

Selma: If we can cut off its claws,

Selma: all that's left is to break the shell.

Selma: Let's defeat it quickly and head home.

Selma: We'll have a party tonight.

Orhun: You make it sound easy.

Selma: For you, it is easy.

Orhun: Yeah, yeah...

Bernard: Sure you're okay?

Bernard: A Gigant Crab's shell is incredibly tough.

Orhun: Yes. Here I go.

Sophia: Orhun, be careful!

Caroline: You can do it, mister!

Orhun: Impact!

Anthem: How is he so strong?

Bernard: He really did cut off the claw in a single strike!

Orhun: "Impact."

Orhun: My original spell, that forcibly enhances your equipment's power and toughness,

Orhun: as well as your magic, for a single instant, up to one hundred times.

Orhun: Since it's kind of a cheat that I came up with by chance

Orhun: when trying to fix a problem with my magic, I do feel a bit guilty using it.

Orhun: But it's what I need to survive on the deepest floors.

Selma: Well done, Orhun!

Selma: We'll take it down now!

Selma: Everyone, attack!

Selma: Just as I'd hoped!

Selma: Good work these past three days!

Selma: We're heading home.

All: Okay!

Orhun: I guess my job's done.

Caroline: Mister!

Orhun: I'm glad nothing happened—

Orhun: The Black Dragon?!

Orhun: Impossible!
