[Pinecone] "The Harvest Spirit."

[townsfolk cheering]

[panting]

[smacks lips] Ooh.
Another great Harvest Festival dinner.

Thanks for hosting us, Gladys and Wren.

'Tis our pleasure.

And we cannot wait to show you the
Harvest Festival skit we have prepared.

-Sounds great.
-Awesome.

-Yes!
-Ooh.

Um, excuse me, Wren.

-Um, more pumpkin pudding?
-[neighs]

I octupled the recipe. It's way too much.

Sure.
But I was gonna say I love your outfit.

Thanks.

I was feeling particularly festive,
so I wanted to switch up my style.

Do you like the… [whooshes] …colors?

-Awesome.
-[neighs]

Aw. You two are as sweet
as my pumpkin pudding.

Speaking of which…

[whinnies]

Hey, Wren, why does everyone
lock their doors and shut their windows

on Harvest Festival night?

'Cause of the Harvest Spirit, of course.

[gasps]
Wren, you must regale us with the tale.

[gasps] They are an exemplary storyteller.

-Aw. You just love my spooky voice.
-[chuckles]

Many years ago,

after the first settlers of
Sturdystone harvested the first veggies,

the ghost of the crops
rose from the soil to mourn them.

It roamed the streets,

-moaning all night long.
-[townsfolk screaming]

[Wren] They called the ghost
"The Harvest Spirit."

And ever since, the people of Sturdystone

have stayed inside
on Harvest Festival night,

locking their doors
and closing their windows…

-[moaning]
-…until the spirit returns to the ground,

and the moaning comes to an end.

[both] Ooh.

-[Rowan, Hawthorn] Ooh.
-Oh.

[neighs]

Okay. But have any of you
actually seen the ghost?

-[Kimya] Nope.
-[Rowan] No way.

Has anyone?
What does it look like? Is it scary?

Has anyone tried talking to it?

This is just what we do, bud.

It's a tradition.
Like Rowan's famous beetroot pie.

Anyone want another slice?

-[Wren] I do.
-[Gladys] Indeed.

-[Magnolia] Please.
-[Arlo] Me too.

Okay, this doesn't make sense.

Why does everyone lock themselves inside

when they don't know anything
about this ghost?

The Harvest Spirit
might not be bad luck at all.

Or even real.

-[distant moan]
-[both gasp]

[Pony squeals]

But that creepy moaning sound
is definitely real.

And we're gonna find out what's making it.

You know what this means, right, Hawth?

-Please don't say a quest.
-A quest!

Listen, I'm all for quests, but at night?
To look for a ghost?

Did I hear you four wanna go on a quest?

-[chirps]
-[neighs]

I don't know. The Harvest Festival
tradition is to stay indoors.

But, as I always say,
good questin' makes for good digestin'.

[snoring]

Also, napping. Napping helps too.

[distant moaning]

Seeing the spirit
is supposed to be bad luck,

but how does anyone know that
if no one's ever seen it?

Maybe their luck was so bad they never
got a chance to tell anyone about it.

Okay, now I'm freaking myself out.

Don't worry. We'll have a quick look
around, see if we can spot the spirit,

and be back
in time for Gladys and Wren's skit.

-[both shriek]
-[neighs]

[both sigh]

-[distant moan]
-[neighs]

Hmm. If we follow the sound of
the moaning, it'll lead us to the ghost.

-Did I seriously just say that?
-[chirps]

Great idea, Hawth.

[moan]

This way.

Ghosty, here we come.

[door creaking]

-[gasps]
-[shudders]

[farts]

-Phew!
-[sighs]

-[person] Excuse you, Pony.
-[neighs]

[screams] The-- The Harvest Spirit?

Whoa, sorry. Did I scare you?
That mask makes my voice sound weird.

-The town crier. [sighs]
-[sighs]

Why are you dressed like that?

I dress up as the Harvest Spirit
every year

and walk through town
so people can catch a glimpse of me.

How'd I do?
I've been taking acting classes, you know.

[both chuckle]

Huh, wait. So, all that moaning
was coming from you?

Me? Nah. I don't make that sound.

I have to save my instrument
for town crying.

Hear ye, hear ye! You know, that stuff.

Well, we're on the quest
to find the real Harvest Spirit.

Have you ever seen it?

No. But that doesn't mean it's not real.

But if nobody's ever seen it,
why do people still believe in it?

Eh. It makes people happy
to believe in holiday traditions.

It's why I dress up.

But whatever the truth is
shouldn't make anyone less happy.

The truth might even be more exciting.

Yeah. Maybe the spirit is nice.

And everyone's been hiding indoors
for no reason.

Huh. You people think differently.

You know,
you might really enjoy my acting class.

Anyhoo, good luck with your quest.

If you need me,
I'll be here doing what I do third best.

First is town crying, obvi.
And second is real crying.

Allow me.

[inhales sharply, sniffling]

Wow.

Impressive.

My acting classes are paying off. See ya.

-So, where to next?
-[distant moan]

The moaning is still coming
from that direction.

[sniffing]

What's all this?

-[sniffing, coughs]
-Oh.

It smells like the swamp.

Wait, how did swamp water
get into the middle of town?

Maybe the spirit rises from the swamp
and tracks the water through the streets.

-[shudders]
-[neighs]

We should check it out.

The swamp in the middle of the night.
Sure, why not?

[sighs] There probably won't be
any pie left by the time we get back.

[Hawthorn] The moaning is louder,
we must be close.

-It's kind of creepy here at night.
-[growling]

[Pinecone] Oh, it's just a little dark.
Nothing to be scared--

[screams]

Weird. The water doesn't usually
come out this far.

Yeah.
It's like the swamp has been flooded.

Blaise's favorite sunning rock
is completely covered in water.

[chirps]

And the Jilly-toads
that Pony usually plays with are gone.

[Pony blusters]

Maybe the moaning of the Harvest Spirit
scared away all the animals too?

[neighs]

-[sniffing]
-Pony's got something. Let's go.

-[gasps]
-[distant moaning]

The sound of the moaning
is even louder in here.

[both gasp]

[moaning]

-[both yelp] The Harvest Spirit.
-[neighs]

Elements of sun and light,
make this darkness big and bright!

[chirping]

[Pinecone]
It's the Jilly-toads from the swamp.

[whinnies]

[jilly-toads chirping]

[chirping]

So, that's where the spooky moaning sound
was coming from.

It was just some toads in a log.

But what are they doing here?

Blaise, could you translate?

[chirping]

[jilly-toad, Blaise chirping]

Every year around this time,

the river rises,
pushing more water into the swamp.

[chirps]

-[chirping]
-[chirping]

The Jilly-toads have to flee to the forest
where they can hide in this log

till their home returns to normal.

So they're not just moaning,
they're calling out for help.

[chirp]

But why this time of year?

The only thing that changes
in the river is…

[gasps] …the Harvest Festival float!

You're right!

We put that big, heavy float
in the river every year.

Hawthorn, it's time we did things
a little differently.

[Pony neighs]

Hear ye, hear ye!

Open your windows and doors,
the Harvest Spirit commands you!

What is going on?

We were about to commence
our holiday skit.

The skit will have to wait.

[Wren, Gladys gasp]

Every year, our float floods the swamp,

forcing the Jilly-toads
to leave their homes.

-[townsfolk gasp, chatter]
-[gasps]

That's who's making the moaning sound,
not the Harvest Spirit.

No. Really?

This festival is about
taking care of the land

and spending time at home
with your loved ones,

but the Jilly-toads don't get to do that
because of us.

[Wren, townsfolk gasp]

Mm-mm. No, that's no good.

So now, there's only one thing left to do.

-[both] Move that float!
-[whinnies]

-Whoo!
-[all cheering]

-[chuckles]
-Think you might be onto something, son.

-Hear ye, hear ye.
-Move that float!

Let's move it.

All right, on the count of three.
One, two, three.

-[groans]
-[Rowan grunting]

-[Rowan] All right, we got it.
-Yes!

[jilly-toads chirping]

They said…

-[chirps]
-…thanks.

-Hear ye, hear ye! Whoo!
-Yeah. You guys did it!

-[townsfolk cheering]
-[sighs] We did it, Hawth.

We solved the mystery of
the Harvest Spirit.

And we didn't get k*lled by a ghost.

Not that I thought
that was a real possibility. [chuckles]

Oh.

Thank you for unearthing
the real tale behind the festival.

So you're not upset
that tradition has to change?

No way. We're proud of you two.

All those years,
we never knew we were harming anyone.

And now that we know, we won't put
the Harvest float in the river anymore.

Anyone feel like celebrating
with a slice of pie?

Or more pumpkin pudding.

There's seriously a lot of pudding.
Please, eat it.

-[neighs]
-Sounds great. [chuckles]

And we can watch Gladys and Wren's skit.

But the skit tells the legend of
the Harvest Spirit.

That's okay.

We can make up a new version.
An even better one.

[through puppet] This river seems like
a good spot for a float. [laughs]

[Pinecone, Hawthorn gasp]

[through puppet] Not our home.
Oh, great calamity!

-[imitates haunting noise]
-Uh-oh, it's a ghost!

Better go inside and shut the doors.

[all booing]

Hark! I am Pinecone.

Hawthorn, Pony,
and I shall seek the truth.

-[Pinecone, Kimya] Whoo!
-Oh, yeah.

[Pinecone chuckles]

[Annabelle] "Speak from the art."

-[grunting]
-[neighs]

-[screams]
-[neighs]

[farts]

-[crowd cheering]
-[Arlo] Whoo-hoo!

-[Kimya] Yeah!
-That's my kid!

-Pinecone!
-Yeah!

Thank you, Pinecone and Pony.

I trust you are enjoying
the Little Rumblers recital.

-[crowd applauding]
-Good luck, Annabelle.

Thanks, you two.

Hey, um, did you see
where my parents are sitting?

Front row, next to mine.

-Yeah! [chuckles]
-Whoo!

And now for our final act.

Our next Little Rumbler
needs no introduction.

[coughs]

It is Annabelle. Now clap.

-[applause]
-[sighs]

[exhales deeply]

[crowd applauding, cheering]

[gasps]

-Whoo!
-Yay!

That was amazing!

Pinecone,
your manticore style is much stronger.

And Pony, the timing on that toot.
Oh, baby! [kisses]

Seeing you both crush it out there
made me crave a warrior sandwich.

-[squeals]
-Oh.

-Okay, okay. [chuckles]
-[chuckles]

Hi, Banana-belle.
Congratulations on your Rumbling.

It's "Rumblers." Not "Rumbling."

Right. Well, what a show.

It was very-- [inhales sharply]
Um-- [inhales sharply] Uh--

Oh, oh, oh. Raucous. So much shouting.

Battle cries.

And those leg extensions you were doing,
they were so-- so high.

Because they were high kicks.

Mom, how about you?

their latest designs,

I'm debuting a new sculpture and
June's showing off her latest paintings.

One of which I must go finish.

When the muse calls…

You must respond.

Congratulations again, Banana-belle.

It was very interesting
to see the Rumbles.

Rumblers. [sighs]

[clears throat] Thank you for coming.

Today marks the end of
months of hard work,

which means it is time
to assign new hard work.

Little Rumblers,
gather for your next assignment.

It must be fun having so many
great artists in your family.

Are you doing anything for the big show?

I'll be much too busy working on
whatever token Gladys assigns next.

What is a warrior's greatest tool?

Oh, oh!

The SpitMaster Pro spitball launcher
with adjustable catapult.

Um, no. It is imagination.

Sure, but does it come with
an adjustable catapult?

To overcome obstacles,
you need more than physical skill.

You need creativity.

And what better way
to get the juices flowing

than by participating in an art show?

What?

Each of you must make something
for the art show tomorrow

in exchange for your crafting token.

I look forward to seeing what you create.

Looks like you're gonna have something
in the show after all.

Hey, Annabelle.
What are you making for the art show?

Do not say "giant papier-mâché model of
Sturdystone" 'cause we call dibs.

Oh, right. That.

Um, nothing.

-[grunts]
-What?

You're not doing an assignment
from Gladys?

Am I dreaming? Pony, pinch me.

[neighs]

It's just a crafting token.

It's not useful like a gymnastics token
or a unicorn petting token.

But a warrior gets all their tokens.

Right down to the token
for getting all your tokens.

Maybe your family could help you.

-[arrow lands]
-[Otto] Cool! Free arrow.

My family are the best artists
in the Greater Kingdom area, Pinecone.

They're much too busy to help me
with a silly project like this.

Well, my family's not.
You should come over for a crafternoon.

-Crafternoon?
-Yeah!

That's when Mom, Dad, Pony and me
spend an afternoon

making crafts and eating snacks.

Some of us mostly eat snacks.

[neighs]

Come on. It'll be great.

[sighs] I don't know, Pinecone.

Please.

[grunts]

[shouts] It's too cute. [gasps]

Okay, okay. Let's just get this over with.

-Yeah! That's the spirit. Kind of.
-[whinnies]

[all] Crafternoon! Crafternoon!
Crafternoon!

-Yay! [chuckles]
-[Kimya, Arlo] Whoo!

Welcome to your first crafternoon.

I bet you do stuff like this
with your family all the time, right?

It's really more their thing than mine.

So, how does this work?

Totally up to you.
We've got tons of supplies you can use.

Clay for sculpting, yarn for knitting

and if you're a welding kinda gal…
[muffled] …I'm happy to assist.

I guess I'll try painting.
That's the kind of thing my mom likes.

Sure, or you could do something
that you like.

Painting it is.

Okay, y'all.

-On your marks, get set, craft.

-Everyone ready to show your work of art?
-One more purl. Okay, done.

-Yeah. We're ready too.
-[whinnies]

Already? [chuckles]

But we've barely had any time
to work on these.

[neighs]

No worries. You don't have to show us
if you don't want to.

What? But she worked so hard.

And it's not like it has to be perfect.

Come on, Annabelle. You can do it.

Annabelle! Annabelle!

-Anna--
-I said no.

Hey, I was only trying to help.

Well, you're not.

I told you it wasn't good enough.
It's never good enough. [grunts]

Annabelle… [stammers] …wait.

[panting]

It's okay, Popcone. Give her some space.

-Do you think Annabelle's okay?
-[blusters]

I don't know why
she's being so hard on herself.

She has nothing to feel bad about.

Her stuff is so… good.

Whoa.

I guess I never realized
how good Annabelle's family is at art.

[imitates bird squawking]

[softly] Is Annabelle here?

Um, we haven't seen her.

Good. I don't want her to see this yet.
What do you think?

I think she'll love it.

Lil Rumblers, fall in.

Where is Annabelle?

Hmm, I bet I know where we can find her.

Hyah! [grunting]

I knew you'd be here.

Come on. You're gonna miss the show.

What does it matter?

I don't have anything to show anyway.
[grunts]

I wish you didn't rip it up.
I'm sure it was really good.

Not good enough for my family.

That can't be true.

What do you know?
Your parents are warriors.

There's no one in my family like me.
[sniffles]

[sighs] That must feel pretty lonely.

But you're not alone.
The Lil Rumblers are your family too.

[neighs]

[sighs] I know that.

[Pony grunts]

I just wish my family saw me
as clearly as you do.

I could get every token there is,
and they still wouldn't get me.

That's why I didn't wanna make anything.

I didn't wanna fail
at the only thing they care about.

I feel like there's something
you need to see.

Please.

[neigh]

[chuckles] The face.

-Okay, okay. [yelps]
-[whinnies]

[June] And now for my final piece.

This one came together very last minute.

When I watched the Lil Rumblers' recital,
I was baffled, bewildered.

I had no idea what to say.

This is what you wanted me to see?

Seeing Annabelle in her element
so full of joy and fire,

I had to race home to get it all down.

-My daughter, a living work of art.
-[crowd applauding]

Thank you, June, for delivering
a crushing blow to my mighty heart.

[clears throat] And now, the Lil Rumblers
shall present their artworks.

Starting with Annabelle.

[gasps] So fluid.

[sniffles] Oh, Banana-belle.

Dad. [chuckles]

[gasps]

The next crafting token goes to Oatcake
for her marvelous living sculpture.

Hmm. Hmm.

And finally,

Annabelle, who creatively showed us that
being a warrior is itself a form of art.

Thanks, Gladys.
I'm glad I got this after all.

[whinnies]

I think this is our best show yet.

I know you're busy with warrior pursuits

but if you ever have time,
we'd love more of your work.

You know, Pinecone's family
does this thing called crafternoon.

Maybe we could do
something like that sometime.

[gasps] That would be very nice,
and after you could teach us some rumbles.
