02x08 - A'Whora

Post by bunniefuu »

- [Tia] Perfect.

- [Show Guest] Backstage.

- Only five shows in and every outfit

is soiled, pissed in, sweated in.

It's just all happening.

- [Tia] But we had a good
night didn't we, A'Whora?

- Without you, yeah.

(laughing)

- I was present,

I was the one who slipped
in the other finger.

- [A'Whora] You was present?

What did she say?

- [Producer] I was the one
that slipped in the other...

- Slipped in the other?

Oh, those fingers...

(anticipating synth music)

- [Emcee] Welcome, everyone,

to the RuPaul's Drag
Race UK Season Two Tour.

(audience cheering)

- It's show time. (laughing)

- We probably won't ever
all be together again.

This is the only time
we can say thank you.

- Oh my God.

I so balled.

- We're selling out every place we go

and they're getting to
see drag at the finest.

(cheering)

- It's gonna be a wild show.

- [Drag Queen] It's amazing.

- Do you feel like Tommy Lee?

- I've never been involved in
a production this big before.

The best drag show you're gonna see.

- I want to go full out,

so my body doesn't know
how to handle stuff,

and then like an idiot,

pulled out my knee.

- God Shave The Queens! (cheering)

- Is this thing on? (growly run)

So this is my pole.

Because "Jimini Don-Doulash" isn't here,

so it's gonna be me now,

Jenny from the block.

Giving you a little 1,
2, 3, and just walk away.

- [Producer] All right guys,
we're gonna do A'Whora's

one more time, and then we'll go-

- Uh.

- Click click, b*tch.

There really is no place like home.

- Oh.

- Okay.

- Oh no, she k*lled Toto.

(queens laughing)

- I'm A'Whora.

I'm a Northern queen of the
fashion scene living in London.

- [Drag Queen] She's
not in Kansas anymore.

- When the VT plays the start,
I always just like cringe.

As much as that entrance
is really sentimental,

to me as being Dorothy,

I still cringe it just like-

I can see a person walking in

trying to be what they've seen before.

So like, me trying to be

like this bubble of what
I thought everyone loved

which was this fashion villain,

like, I don't actually need to be like

I can actually be like,

I can actually be like
gorgeously fashionable

but also like completely goofy
and a bit of an introvert

and it's still cool, like,

it was just learning how to
be George as well as A'Whora

not just like, A'Whora.

It's amazing to know that
you had an impact in a moment

like the "Bing Bang Bong,"

and the "Sister Sister
more like copy copy," like.

But yeah, but that, those sleeves

will definitely go down in history

as, I think one of the best design looks.

I will happily take that over winning

or going home on a
stand-up comedy challenge.

Who needs comedy when you look great?

- All right, let's try this amazing lift.

Remember, a*s out, t*ts out.

- Yeah.

- [Dancer] Pat it.

- [Dancer] Plie in second.

(all talking)

- 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 1.

- All right.

- [Choreographer] Then,
and that's beautiful.

- So my set, like I just
wanted like growing up

I was always into like
my music's like Clubland,

and I was into like
all the hardcore music.

So I was just, I wanna bring that energy

that vibe.

There's still little tweaky tweaks to do

but I think we're gonna get there.

Yeah, had to bring back
the iconic sleeves.

Let's just hope these ones
actually are just as iconic,

cause I feel they might flop and not flap,

so let's pray.

- A'Whora is very perfectionist based.

She loves being perfect.

And I think she's pretty near
perfect with how she looks,

the effort she puts into her performances.

- I love her because
she's such a stupid b*tch.

She's so stupid.

I love her.

She's mad.

- She's so confident,

and she really knows who she is.

She can be a diva though.

Jesus Christ.

But so can like Mariah, Mariah,
do you know what I mean?

Yeah, but could be a diva.

(cheering)

- Yes girl, yes girl.

- A'Whora, your knee is bleeding.

- Babe, your knee.

- Your knee is bleeding.

- You need some, need-

- Oh my God, through my costume

- Yeah.

- Yeah, You always get bloody
knees when you do that move.

- You know, being the dancing diva I am

there's always an injury
in the scene babe,

so, she's caught bruised and
blood, but you know what?

Sweat and tears have gone into this.

And I guess a little bandaid
is just fashion baby.

(techno-funk music)

- So A'Whora actually was just like

I think it's something
that I've always had in me.

Like, I always thought drag
had to be a certain thing

but then the more you do it

and the more people that you meet

you realize drag can be
so much more and it's

it's really doesn't have a limit.

I think I just hadn't realized like

how to find my my own
self and find my own brand

and understand like also
just drag in general.

I think without realizing I'd told myself

I could never do it.

So that's why every time I performed

I performed as someone.

So my first trial was Freddie Mercury.

And then I did a Christina Aguilera

for like all my summer gigs.

So I just never believed I
could perform as A'Whora.

So this is actually the first
time ever I'm performing

as me.

I want to go full out.

And I think because I'm not trained dancer

so my body doesn't know
how to handle stuff.

And then like an idiot pulled out my knee.

- [Speaker] Good bit.

- [A'Whora] Happened again.

- [Drag Queen] Oh, sh*t, are you bleeding?

- I do it every f*cking night.

- Oh my God.

- Every night, baby,
dedicated to the drag.

- [Drag Queen] This is drag.

- Oh

- [Speaker] I thought your
knee should be reinforced.

- I thought I wouldn't have
anything left on me knees,

by now.

(laughing)

- [Drag Queen] It went well?

- Yeah, it went well.

Well usually, it's pouring,

so I'm gonna get these up

before it stains the costume again.

- [Producer] What bit is
it that makes your knee-

- It's the, the knee
drop, but today's stage is

so short I bashed it
on the, the, the step.

So like sliced it a bit.

- [Drag Queen] Staple of any UK queen.

(upbeat techno music)

- Oh no, what's happened?

- She died.

- She died?

Carly. She's dead.

No, but is she right?

- Yeah, she's fine, she
just busted her knee.

- Doing what?

- Too many death drops on past five shows.

She's gonna have a break.

- Ginny?

- Yeah babe?

- Have you seen A'Whora's
not in the show tonight?

- Yeah. Have you not heard the news?

- No, what's happened?

- A'Whora's dead. (screaming)

- Giving the people what they want.

- But one more thing I just want to say.

One of us couldn't make it along tonight.

Sadly, A'Whora has injured her knees.

I would've thought she'd been used to,

you know,

going on her knees quite a lot.

It's in the name in it.

I thought she'd gone to
board with gardens later on.

(screaming)

- Is A'Whora watching?

- What?

- Is she watching the show?

- [Drag Queen] Is she dead?

- [Cherry] I hope so.

- How camp would it be
if she sat in the crowd

in sunglasses, headscarf...

- Yeah. Just like...

(jazz music)

- I knew I'd caught my
knee on the last show,

which was New Castle.

I think the impact

of like doing the stunt

caused like a fracture.

So went to hospital, took myself there.

It came through as a minor sprain.

And they said just don't perform

or go any strain on it for three weeks,

which is not possible.

I have a mortgage to buy.

(upbeat dance music)

- So today cause I'm outta business

with this peg leg of mine.

I've decided to do a bit

of charity work and help out Tia here,

and give her a make over.

- I'm excited.

- No.

No she's been asking for me
and Tayce to do her makeup

but obviously we haven't ever had the time

because we're always
getting ready ourselves.

- This is like, we're
really swapping roles here

because like I'm gonna look pretty

and you are exhibiting human kindness.

So it's like a real difference.

- It's a real revelation.

- It's mad isn't it?

Is this cute?

- [Producer] How is the knee feeling?

- Not too bad. I was
sat in this hotel room

what they bought me just to like rest in,

and I was just like going insane.

Like when you see the videos and like,

today's even harder

because today's like the one
year of the "Bing Bang Bong,"

and so I really wanted to like come out

and do the "Bing Bang
Bong" with the girls,

like celebrate one year so it's like,

it just sucks.

Like I really just want to do it.

I'm gonna do a run through later

and see what, what is doable

because I really wanna
do the show tomorrow

because I've got family coming,

so I wanna see if there's
anything I can just do

to the lowest mediocre of it.

Do the show a whole of it,

and just see what's doable, so...

But then at the same time I'm like,

I'd rather give it more when
I know I've got like my family

and that there so, yeah,

it's all just a day by day process.

Gorge..

- Clicky d*ck.

- Right, I think you've got
enough because I need to focus

all right?

- Yes.

- Some working process is
some magic happening guys.

- Oh wait, can we do like a
TikTok transition, but like,

but like on the camera?

- [Producer] What about time lapse?

(driving techno music)

Oh no no, too early.

- What is, the weather?

Beautiful for Sheffield.

Welcome home, m*therf*ckers.

It's just what we call
Northern weather. (laughing)

Where is the door to get in?

- It's wild to be in Sheffield tonight.

I mean the last time I
came to this exact theater

I think I was like afraid.

So it's very wild to come back

and like go back to your roots.

Especially like performing here

and so many of my friends have come in,

but also like my families.

Both my nans haven't seen me perform,

so them being here tonight
will be an eye open experience,

I'm sure.

- A'Whora, love, how are you feeling?

- I feel fine.

I think like the exhaustion
of like the last few days

it's like taking it out on me a bit

and then today I'm just like,
feel like I'm proper lagging

but then I also have never
felt like that before.

So I'm just wondering

if it probably is just
because I'm in Sheffield.

I'm at my hometown.

That I probably have like a
subconscious like, anxiety.

- Yes, honey you-

I mean, how excited are you
to perform in your hometown?

Cause all your family's
coming today, right?

- Yeah. Um, I'm excited.

Nervous as well.

Cause I'm like still not
like fully recovered and

at where I'd want to be,
to like give them the show

I'd want to deliver.

Get those Ibuprofen loaded back
up and those paracetamol in.

- Get them prescription drugs in you, girl

- And just try to rock and roll

and give it what I can give it, so.

- Yeah, today's your day honey.

- I have to give Sheffield what they want.

- Give Sheffield all the A'Whora.

- Yeah, give them the A'Whora experience,

so fingers crossed.

I would hate to leave this
tour thinking I didn't do

my hometown or leave this tour thinking

like my family didn't get to see me.

- [Ginny] Right darling, when are you on?

- Uh, after Sister,
it's a break right now.

- [Drag Queen] Oh my.

- [Ginny] It's a break right now

and then the Sister and then you?

- Yeah.

- Okay I wanna watch both of
you cause it's your hometown.

- [Drag Queen] Oh, I almost broke my a*s.

- [Ginny] How are you feeling?

- Nervous, but it'll be fine.

- You will be fine.

- Always fine.

- As bad as it is of like,

you could do enough injury

and it could like ruin your career

but I'm like,

in that moment it doesn't matter

when you're on a stage

Cause the adrenaline and the rush you get

like, you just your whole body's numb.

- Oh, I get so nervous.

I always feel like I could I could vomit.

Always feel like I could
vomit before the show.

- Well, before we go on the
stage like I stand there

with that cape on and I'm like, oh God.

I sit there like I just wanna vomit

and I just can't breathe.

And then the track starts
and it's like right, go.

- [Emcee] Make some noise for
the fashion queen A'Whora.

(audience cheering)

- When I was a kid, like my
mom was always like obsessed

with Clubland, like mega mix albums.

It was the music like

I think without knowing
I was growing up with.

So I was like, okay, I wanna
kinda like live a night out

but like take it back
to what I would imagine

my mom would've been like,

so heads are swinging,

hands are swinging.

And then before you know it I'm tripping,

and then we're having a dance off.

And then before you know it
and I drop and I collapse

but then I'm still pumping on the floor

and going through the night

and then I get lifted into
the air cause I'm like, high.

And I'm up there like this swinging,

like me eyes are going.

And then at the end I'm like
ready to leave the club,

I have to make an impression

so I pop the sleeves, pay
a homage to my tribute

on drag race, go out with
nine men in my pocket,

Oh yes.

(audience cheering)

- [Crew Member] Enjoy yourself?

- Out of breath.

- (cheering) That was amazing.

You smashed it.

- Oh God.

- Sweet.

- Babe.

- That was amazing.

- Did you watch it?

- Yeah, course it did.

You did amazing.

- Thank you baby.

Oh, and that one was for the family.

- [Speaker] How was it?

- Great, all went well.

Everyone's smooth, fine.

So now it's time to get changed

and have a k*ller finale

so get my bra and get out, b*tch.

It's been a journey it's been
very bumpy and it's been wild

because it's probably
been the best response

like I could have ever had.

- [Emcee] Make some noise for
the fashion queen A'Whora.

(cheering)

(techno music)

- We probably won't ever all
be together again like this.

So this is the only time
really we can say thank you

to everyone that has
made this show successful

and give back to what people
have realistically given to us.

And it's nice,

cause like first time
you could actually not

only just hear what people is saying,

but actually feel it.

- [A'Whora] Did you love it?

- Yeah.

- Did you cry again?

- I'm gonna cry now.

- No, don't cry.

- [Family Member] I can't
believe them four dancers they-

- [A'Whora] Aw, thank you.

- We were dancing.

You were amazing.

- Thank you so much.

- Can I just let everyone
know that like secretly

I know we weren't friends
on the show but like

A'Whora's really kind.

- I think I will miss
the tour when it ends.

You know, I think in life

the best things are always missed.

So live it, love it, breathe it.

And then, you know,

look back at it as one
of the best memories

and the best times I've ever had.

(upbeat techno music)
