03x05 - Episode 5

Post by bunniefuu »

[in Spanish]: sh*t.

[Claire]: We're going to need to
speak with that compliance manager.

[Luka]: Bruno!

[Claire]: He's making a run for it!

[Jon, in Spanish]: On the ground!

[Claire]: Bruno, no!

If you want us to keep Diego safe,
you need to tell us the truth.

You think Nick was involved
with one of these men?

I can't tell you that.

[Norah]: Nick's listed as a
signatory of the Tar Le bank accounts.

So he could have used the charity
to move the 27 million?

Now is not the time
to start investigating Tar Le.

And stay away
from Alice Heaslip and her sister.

[in Spanish]: Are you involved
in human trafficking, yes or no?

[Claire]: Who are you
afraid of, Bruno?

-[Jon, in Spanish]: Give us a name.
-Tomas.

[Norah]: I understand it's a delicate
situation, but we can't ignore this.

You have to be damned
sure about this, Norah.

[Sean]: This isn't Tomas.

[Claire]: So Bruno was lying.

We need to speak to Idoia,

have her confirm if Tomas
was the person who shot her family.

[Jon, in Spanish]: Lock down
the hospital, right now!

[Idoia whimpers.]

[security guard]: Hide!

[Miren, in Spanish]: Where is she?

Where is Idoia?

-[Claire]: Police! Stop!
-[car alarm]

Let her go.

[O'Neill grunts.]

[police sirens]

[man, in Spanish]:
They've got the sh**ter!

Backup,
to the underground car park.

[phone buzzing]

[Byrne]: The cops have O'Neill.

[Pearse sighs]

Stop the shipments.

I can make the calls,
but there's one already en route.

[Pearse]: f*ck.

[Byrne]: Do you want me
back at the restaurant?

No, no, no...

Keep your eyes on O'Neill.

[Sean]: Do we have a still
of the university CCTV?

In here, with the crime scene
photos of the woods

and Adama Seidu's autopsy photo.

-[phone rings]
-Claire.

[Claire]: There's a delay
in processing.

We're stuck outside with the sh**ter.

Did anything come in on Rafa Carlos?

[Sean]: Still no sign.

Work records are spotty.
Mostly cash payments.

[Claire]: Did you get
everything I asked for?

Ready to go. Are you OK?

-Add a photo of Alice.
-I want to see if he recognises her.

This guy hasn't said a word. We need
to find something that'll make him talk.

No problem.

Jon.

Hey, wake up!

-[Jon, in English]: I got him.
-I got him. Easy.

Easy.

[Claire]: Stay with us.

sh*t, we need him alive.

He's breathing.

[sirens]

[woman, in Spanish]:
The ambulance is almost here.

[Sean]: Jesus, is he going to be
okay?

[shutter clicks]

[phone alert]

[Jon]: So, what's next?

We go back to Bruno.

With what?

Well, proof that everything he told
us was a pack of lies.

Tomas didn't k*ll Olatz
and her family. He did.

[woman, in Spanish]: OK, let's go.

[Claire]: Wait.

[shutter clicks]

[Liam]: Dr Bennett.

This is Bureau Forensics Officer 19.

[Niamh]: Tell me what you need.

If something is going on,
I need to get ahead of it.

Right.

All bank accounts and financial
records, receipts, invoices,

a list of your employees,
clients, and suppliers,

contact details for your donors
and funding partners.

We will be discreet,

but we need to confirm
the origins of all donations

to determine whether they're
legitimate.

Or whether my brother-in-law

was laundering money
through our accounts.

Follow me.

[lawyer]: Why are we here?

[Jon]: Bruno.

[in Spanish]: We've got him.

You don't have to be afraid anymore.

Tomas Torres is in custody?

[Claire]: We know
Tomas didn't k*ll anyone.

This man did.

We know this is the k*ller.

Who is he?

Unless you're offering a deal,
my client's saying nothing.

Torres recognised him.

But this isn't the man he's afraid
of.

Bruno, Tomas, even this guy.

They're all pawns.

This level of control through fear.

It fits with how
organised crime gangs operate.

-[in English]: Agreed.
-But who's in charge?

-Anthony Pearse.
-No.

Anthony was just a low-level driver.

I don't buy his
reformed-and-rehabilitated act.

But you're buying that he's
running an international crime g*ng.

Waited his time, kept his mouth
shut.

That kind of reputation,
maybe he built on that.

Pearse is involved.

Say he is. What's the next step?

First thing tomorrow,
we push Bruno to his limit.

Tell him we found Tomas
and he's talking.

You saw Bruno's face
when his solicitor mentioned Tomas.

I don't think we're going to find
him.

At least, not alive.

These people don't leave loose ends.

We tell Bruno we're pulling
protection from his son.

I'm not saying we actually do it.
[phone notification]

-[Claire]: sh*t.
-I need to update Dunlop.

[phone buzzes]

You making a habit of keeping me
waiting, DS Wallace?

No, sir.

Sorry, sir.

[Dunlop]: Norah and Boylan
have made a start on Tar Le.

I need you on it as soon
as you get back.

Sir, while I agree
that the Tar Le lead is important,

and I understand the urgency,

I feel that Norah is more than
capable.

Of course she is.

But, given the urgency,
I want the full team on this.

I don't think our work here
in Bilbao is done.

[Dunlop]: Oh? You've a new lead?

Concrete evidence
connecting Heaslip

to the man who k*lled
Olatz Alzola and her family?

No, sir.

We're still waiting on an ID for him.

Well, you can just as easily
wait here as over there.

[call end tone]

Claire...

[Norah sighs]

[door opens]

Oh, Dr Bennett,
you being here is...

[Niamh]: I know.

But I've just been notified
of a diphtheria outbreak

in one of our border camps.

I need to coordinate
with my people on the ground.

I can't do that from home.

[Norah]: Of course.

Our IT department
is logged into your system remotely.

So, we will know if you attempt
to access any financial records

or if anything is deleted.

[Sean]: Yeah, we're just
waiting on the taxi now.

OK, love, if you're sure.

Yeah, see you then.

Love you, too.

She has this thing about
meeting me at the airport.

[Jon]: Claire!

What happened?

Idoia's attacker
has been moved to isolation.

He's critical.

Are you coming?

Are you kidding me?

This could be our
only chance to talk to him.

We've been ordered home!

Look, I get it, going home

means you have to deal with
what happened at the Heaslip...

Sean, that is not
what this is about.

But you can't keep ignoring it.

The longer you leave it,
the worse it'll get.

And I don't just
mean your promotion.

If the situation was reversed,

you'd tell me to cop myself on
and start thinking logically.

I am.

Here's my logic, Sean.

The k*ller is the connection:
to Heaslip, the murders, everything.

That's why I'm staying.

[heart monitor beeping]

[doctor]: His liver is failing.

Because of the stab wound?

No, but his immune system is
through the floor and we don't know why.

If he was involved in the
trafficking,

he might've picked something
up on one of the trips.

We can send you some notes.

Research that might help
with the diagnosis.

Can we talk to him?

No, we just managed
to stabilise him.

Then I need to
take his fingerprints.

[heart monitor beeping]

[doctor]: Give him space, please.

Oficial Beitia, you can start now,
but please, be careful.

This clearly isn't his
first stab wound.

Look, he tried to treat this
himself.

[O'Neill mumbles]

[doctor]: You need to step back.

-[O'Neill mumbles.]
-[doctor]: Give him space.

Step back now.

[Claire]: That was an Irish accent.

[doctor]: Sir, can you hear me?

Is it the last of that batch?

We still have a few
to get through yet.

[phone rings]

Claire?

[Claire]: Liam, I need you
to run some fingerprints.

They're from the guy
who shot Olatz Alzola.

-I think he's Irish.
-I'm on it.

They've got prints from the
k*ller of Olatz and her family.

Claire thinks he's Irish.

These need a follow up.

Mmm.

[Norah sighs]

Yes. I do understand
it's becoming time-sensitive.

Unfortunately Tar Le can't
commit to that date just yet.

Look, I'll call you this
evening with an update.

OK?

[Niamh sighs] God.

[phone rings]

Liam?

You're right. Your John
Doe's name is Brian O'Neill

of Drumcondra Dublin 9.

In and out of foster care
until he was 18.

He has a record?

[Liam]: A few convictions
for petty stuff as a minor.

Prints were taken then, but
he hasn't been picked up since.

Send me everything you've
got, and keep digging.

-Top priority.
-[Liam]: Will do.

[Jon]: I will run a priority
search of our records.

[phone buzzes]

[Dunlop]: Claire.

You've landed already.

No, sir. I'm still in Bilbao.

This better be good, Claire.

Sir, we've IDed the man who k*lled
Olatz Alzola and her family.

He's Irish.

-Any links to Nick Heaslip?
-Not yet, sir.

We only just got the ID.

But I'd like your approval
to look into that here, in Bilbao.

OK. You've got it.

-[Dunlop]: And Claire?
-Yes, sir?

When did you learn he was Irish?

About an hour after I decided
not to get the flight to Dublin.

I'll need a full explanation
and justification.

But it can wait until you get back.

Yes, sir.

[call end tone]

No home address yet,
but we have his workplace.

OK.

[in Spanish]: José Estévez?

[man, in Spanish]: In the office.

Thanks.

[receptionist, in Spanish]:
Good morning.

[Jon]: José Estévez?

[José, in Spanish]: Yes?

My colleague and I have some
questions about one of your employees.

Brian O'Neill.

What do you need to know?

When did you last see him?

A few weeks ago.

[in English]: He hasn't
been here for weeks.

So he just stopped
showing up for work?

-[in English]: No, he called me.
-Just a family matter, but...

Why? Is he all right?

He's in hospital.

Oh my God.

We're looking for his next of kin.

Let me check.

Sorry, there is no
next of kin listed.

-What about a home address?
-Yes, of course.

-The other drivers...
-Would any of them know his family?

[José]: I don't think so,
but I will ask.

O'Neill's boss just happens
to play golf with Anthony Pearse.

I don't believe in coincidence.

Claire.

If Pearse is behind all this,

we need to bring Estévez in before
he tells Pearse we IDed O'Neill.

-Bring him in for what?
-Hiring a guy?

Pearse has been careful.

He's always operating at arm's
length, working through other people.

We've no real evidence against him.

Maybe if we put a tap
on Estévez's phone?

Pearse might say
something incriminating.

[Jon, in Spanish]: Lore. I need a
wiretap on José Estévez's phone...

[muted]: ...and a surveillance
team at this location.

[phone rings]

-Detective Liam Boylan.
-[Claire]: Liam.

I need you to look for connections

between Brian O'Neill
and Anthony Pearse or Nick Heaslip.

Start with KYV Transport.

See if anything links that company
to Pearse or Heaslip.

OK. On it.

OK.

[Sean]: If you start
connecting them with thread,

I'll know you've really lost it.

Welcome back.

Red for you.

As soon as this case is over.

-Where's Claire?
-Still in Bilbao.

Right so.

[Sean]: No Liam?

[breathes heavily]: Something
he had to do for Claire.

There's your luck.

Nothing we can do.

How are you getting on? Hopefully
quicker now that you're here.

I'm all yours.

-You all right?
-Yeah, I just...

I haven't found anything yet.

If I was wrong...

Still a lot to get through, Norah.

Let's get stuck in.

Yeah.

Start with this supplier.

[Niamh]: Grace.

Didn't you get my email
about working from home?

Yeah, but that's easier said than
done with no notice.

And no explanation.

I know. It's a temporary measure.

What with the protestors
and the interview

and all the rest with Nick,

anyone else looking
for a headline...

Waste of time doorstepping
an empty office.

Yes.

And you said we could do
without negative press right now.

Closing the office isn't a
decision you get to make without me.

I know. I'm sorry.

I spent so much time on the ground
making decisions on my own.

Well, you're not on your own now.

You don't have to do it all.

Tar Le's more than just you.

Exactly.

Come on. Let's grab a bite.

And we can reopen
if I've made a mistake.

No, it makes sense.

[Sean]: You all right?

I'm looking for my notes
on Heaslip's investors.

I want to compare it
to these company owners.

-This it?
-No, it's in my personal notes.

Must have left it at my desk.

I'll run back and grab it.

And I'll get you a sandwich.

-I just need the notes.
-Yeah?

When did you last eat?

Thank you, Sean.

Should be in the top drawer.

You're back.

Norah needed something.

Remember her?

This tall. Often seen at
a white board.

Yeah, Claire had a lead. I followed
up and we IDed the m*rder suspect.

[in Irish]: Jesus,
what's your problem?

[in Irish]: You leaving Norah
with no help on her lead.

Claire's lead had
to take priority.

You were looking for any
excuse to get out of there.

You've no respect for Norah
or the work she does.

You said I should
have Claire's back.

-What do you mean by that?
-Nothing.

It's just...

Well, she's in Bilbao on her own.

If you got your head
out of your a*s,

you'd learn more from Norah in one
day than you have your entire career.

[door opens]

You dote.

This will make it easier to know
which companies to eliminate.

You all right?

-Just had a run-in with Liam.
-Oh.

Just...

Something he said.

Hit a nerve.

[Norah sighs heavily]

[investigator]: We found this
laptop and some files.

Anything financial should be
scanned and sent to CAB ASAP.

-[in Spanish]: Thanks.
-No problem.

{\an8}[Claire]: He was going home.

But this boarding pass
was for yesterday afternoon.

If he was planning
on making a run for it,

what made him change his
mind and go back for Idoia?

I doubt it was his choice.

There's a search here for Dr Romero

one day before
the attack at the university.

No doubt he's our guy.

[investigator, in Spanish]:
Oficial?

[in Spanish]: Yes?

-We found this.
-OK.

[in English]:
Those look like bite marks.

[in Spanish]: Take this to the lab.
[phone alert]

Update on Estévez's surveillance?

[in English]: No calls to Pearse
and he hasn't moved from his office.

If our visit made him nervous,
he isn't showing it.

Or maybe he doesn't know anything.

We're wasting our time.

[Norah sighs]

I was so sure.

Dunlop warned me, but I had a hunch.

It was the right call.

If it gets out we were here...

We did everything we could to keep
the investigation under the radar.

And if everything we
could do wasn't enough?

Instead of all this,

the first thing people will
think of when they hear Tar Le

is fraud and corruption.

Norah.

You can't.

I'd better let Dunlop know.

[phone buzzing]

[Dunlop]: Norah.

Sir...

I've exhausted all avenues, but...

every company's legit.

And there's no indication

they're paying for any service
that's not being delivered.

No links to Heaslip's clients,

his business accounts,
Lichtenstein, nothing.

I see.

Well, let's hope this
stays out of the press.

-Yes, sir.
-[Dunlop]: Norah.

It needed to be done.

You were right to check it out.

[Norah]: Thanks.

[call end tone]

[phone clatters]

[phone rings]

[Alice]: Is it...

-Hello?
-[Dunlop]: Dr Bennett.

It's CPO Dunlop.

Yes?

We've concluded our investigation

and, as far as we've
been able to ascertain,

it doesn't appear
that your brother-in-law

was using Tar Le as part
of his criminal activities.

Thank you for letting me know.

[Dunlop]: Of course.

We appreciate your cooperation.

They've cleared Tar Le.

Nick didn't go near it.

[Niamh exhales shakily]

[Alice]: Thank god.

Norah, would
you take a look at something?

Liam...

I've had a total of 10 minutes
at home in the last 24 hours.

I'd be slow to ask me
a favour right now.

It's just I've hit a
dead end and...

well, I thought with your experience,
you might see something I've missed.

What is it?

O'Neill's employer
in Bilbao, KYV.

I'm looking for connections between
Anthony Pearse and Nick Heaslip,

but I've found nothing.

-[Norah]: I was right.
-Nick Heaslip was using Tar Le.

[Jon]: Maybe we should have waited
for Estévez to call Pearse.

[Claire]: The link to Heaslip
was enough for a warrant. Why wait?

[Jon]: Because if there's no
evidence of trafficking in there,

we have nothing.

[radio, in Spanish]:
We're moving in.

Go, go, go!

[officer, in Spanish]:
Hands where I can see them!

Hands in the air! Go, go!

[radio]: All clear, Oficial Beitia.

-[in Spanish]: Understood.
-We're coming.

[in English]: Let's go.

[man, in Spanish]:
Boss, what the hell is this?

There's no obvious evidence

of human trafficking
in any of the trucks.

Forensics are going to check
for DNA and fingerprints, but...

We just need one print

to match the ones we found
in Adama's questionnaires.

-Anything here?
-It's too early to tell.

Estévez is old-school.
Most of his records are on paper.

It's going to take some time
to go through all this.

We cannot hold
him without evidence.

We just need the right
leverage to make him talk.

I think we might have found it.

Rafa Carlos, our missing driver.

What is your relationship
to this man?

[José]: Tony?

He's my friend.
We play golf together.

Has Tony ever asked
you for any favours?

No. If anything,
it was the other way around.

Tony did you favours?

Tony's a good guy.

He'd recommend my company.

[Jon]: Without ever asking you
for anything in return?

He'd send new drivers
my way sometimes.

Was Brian O'Neill
one of those drivers?

[José assents]

And Rafa Carlos?

[Claire]: We found a number
of these receipts.

[Jon]: Paying drivers under the
table

isn't compliant with regulations,
Mr Estévez.

If you are hiding anything else,

you will be charged as an accessory.

[José]: To what?

What are you talking about?
[knock]

There's an update from your team.

I need my solicitor.

[Claire]: According to Norah,

Tar Le contracted KYV after
Nick Heaslip joined their board.

We know that O'Neill,
a KYV driver, was k*lling anyone

who knew about the Torres
human trafficking operation.

He used a house that Heaslip
had access to for one of the murders,

confirmed by Adama's DNA
on O'Neill's glove.

We know that...

Pearse got O'Neill the job at KYV

and we know that Heaslip and Pearse

had a meeting
that ended in a confrontation.

But Pearse
had an explanation for that.

Yeah, but whatever happened here
scared Nick Heaslip so badly

that he went straight out
and stole a g*n.

So, you think that Pearse
had Heaslip under pressure

and he forced him
to get Tar Le to hire KYV?

-Yeah, exactly.
-Like he had Estévez hire O'Neill.

But that's all circumstantial,
Claire.

And, if it goes before a judge...

Pearse could say that Nick asked him

to get O'Neill the job with KYV.

Say it was Nick whose house
Adama's body was found in.

That's not enough.

What would be enough?

To show
how any of this benefits Pearse.

And why he would want
access to Tar Le.

Well, we know that KYV

offers haulage services
to Tar Le clinics.

What if they also remove items?

This Estévez guy's records are a
mess.

Hazardous and biological waste.

[Lore]: Sanihaz?

Pearse's connection to
KYV and Tar Le

gave him access to
hundreds of desperate people.

And a way to move them.

But you could say the same
thing for Nick Heaslip.

Yeah, but the operation's here.

Pearse is here.

Yeah, you can't run
that operation from a distance.

[Jon]: A setup that complex
doesn't match with the scale

of the trafficking operation
Bruno described.

It doesn't make sense.

So... Bruno lied.

Told us just enough
to keep Pearse out of it.

-Ah, he's right.
-The money we've traced, 252K,

matches what Bruno's done.

Nothing else.

We're still missing something.

O'Neill's doctor.

[In Basque]: Yes?

What? You're sure?

[José]: No. Brian is driver. He
doesn't go in the back of the truck.

And he doesn't handle containers.

But he was
in the back of those trucks.

His symptoms prove it.

Only he wasn't loading containers.

He was loading and unloading people.

People trafficking.

-It's a serious crime.
-There is no trafficking.

Brian, if he goes
in the back of the truck,

he couldn't have been
exposed to anything.

Those containers are sealed.

One last thing, Mr Estévez.

Every driver
referred to you by Tony Pearse,

we're going to need their names,
their schedules, and their routes.

Sean was right
about the people trafficking.

It was a cottage industry,
small scale.

But you still think
Pearse is involved.

Pearse is how he got the idea.

Bruno knew that customs
avoided those trucks.

And that's why Pearse used them.
Just not to move people.

Would you dig through needles and
bloody swabs if you didn't have to?

So you think Pearse is transporting
something in the waste containers.

[Claire]: You heard Estévez.

In order to be exposed,
O'Neill had to have opened them.

With a setup like this, the quantity
of drugs or g*ns he could move...

would be worth millions.

This theory could persuade a judge.

A theory is all it'll stay

unless we can get
hard evidence on Pearse.

[phone rings]

-Dunlop.
-This is Niamh Bennett.

-Dr Bennett.
-I've been in touch with our funders

to confirm the date of the launch.

[Dunlop]: I was about to...

But just in case it comes out,
I'd like an official statement

that Tar Le has been excluded
from your investigations.

That's not something I can do.

[Niamh]: I understand
it's not the usual practice.

Dr Bennett,
I was about to call you

to let you know that the
investigation is still ongoing.

Into Nick, I know.

You mean into Tar Le.

But I thought you said there was
no indication of money laundering.

Yes, but until the
investigation is complete...

Can you tell me what
you did find out?

I'm sorry, Dr Bennett.

Goodbye.

[Sean]: Tar Le currently operates
seven camps in three countries.

KYV services routes
to those sites. But...

When Tar Le announces
their partnership deal,

they'll be expanding
into these sites.

Jesus Christ.

An international smuggling
network disguised as a charity.

And we're sure
this lad isn't a part of it?

Estévez may dress
like he runs a cartel,

but so far his financials check out.

According to Claire,

there's no indication he knew his trucks
were being used for anything ill*gal.

Why would Nick Heaslip
go along with this?

The money it would
bring in for Pearse.

I doubt he gave him a choice.

So, Pearse must have had
some leverage over him.

Heaslip lost his clients' money.

What if Pearse was one of them?

I doubt Pearse would be the type
to stop at an angry email.

Maybe that's what
the meeting was about.

That's what had Heaslip terrified.

The 27 million.

If Pearse is who he
owed that money to,

he knew it would come out
once we started digging.

O'Neill was originally
scheduled for this route,

but when he took his time off,

he was replaced by
another of Pearse's drivers.

We need to know when it's due in.

I can check what time
it stopped at the last waste station

and get an ETA.

Might take a few minutes.

Even if we find
something on that truck,

there's no guarantee
we can link it to Pearse.

Once he finds out the truck's
been raided, he'll be gone.

But I have my people watching him.

If he runs, we'll know.

OK.

I'll place a surveillance team

to follow the contents
once the truck's unloaded.

It might lead to Pearse.
What do you think?

sh*t.

The truck's due in tomorrow morning,

{\an8}so it will arrive
in Bilbao just after dawn.

[Alice]: I'm so tired of this.

I thought I'd feel better
going back to work.

But half the clinic waiting room
was just people there to gawk at me.

I'm not even seeing patients.

[Alice sighs]

What's wrong, Niamh?

Tell me.

CAB are back investigating Tar Le.

[Alice]: But they said
Nick didn't go near it.

They've changed their minds.

It's bad enough already,
but when this gets out...

Are you f*cking kidding me?

What?

Do you ever think
of anyone but yourself?

Of course I do!

-Ollie.
-Oh, yes.

Your child.

What about all the children
that are going to die

because of what your husband's done?

-That's not fair, Niamh.
-Grow up, Alice.

Nick destroyed Tar Le.

And, no matter what happens,

I'm always going to
be tainted by him.

If you step down,
maybe Tar Le would recover.

Step down?

There is no Tar Le without me.

And, without Tar Le...

You'll find something else.

My clinic could use...

[Niamh laughs]

You really think
I'd trade saving lives

for treating the exaggerated
ailments of rich, white women?

Niamh, what can I do?

You?

Absolutely nothing.

-[Jon, in Spanish]: Look.
-Here. The team list.

[phone rings]

Do you have something new?

No, just... just seeing
if there's anything you need.

No, I have to go.

[Sean]: O'Neill was the key.

You were right.

Boss.

Aren't I always?

Thanks, Sean.

[phone rings]

[in Basque]: Yes?

When?

OK. OK, thanks.

[in English]: O'Neill is dead.

Christ.

-KYV team are in lockdown?
-Yes.

There's no way
they can tip Pearse off?

No. No calls, no solicitor visits,
no contact with the outside world.

Getting everything in place
is going to be tight.

Yeah.

But we will get it done.

There are some beds, Claire.
You should get some rest.

I'd rest easier if I knew
exactly how Pearse's system works.

[door opens]

[in Spanish]: Where's Galardi?

We thought you might feel safer
if it was just the three of us.

[in Spanish]: Take a seat.

We know you speak English, Bruno.

You'd have to.

Given who you work for.

[in English]: Typical expat,
eh, Brunito?

Anthony Pearse.
They never learn the language.

You work for Pearse,

unloading the goods
that he hides in the medical waste

that KYV transports for Tar Le.

And you had an idea.

Why not do something similar?

You knew the truck drivers.

Tomas had connections to migrants.

For a while, it went well.

But then, Adama worked out
what was happening.

And he told Olatz.

[Claire]: Tipping Pearse off.

I imagine he wasn't happy
you bringing a reporter to his door.

[Jon]: He eliminated that threat.

But Pearse is a careful man.

And he told you if anyone else
started asking questions,

you had to lead them away
from what he was doing, eh?

[Claire]: If he thinks
there's a chance you could talk,

you and your son
will never be safe from him.

Well, he k*lled one family.

What's one more?

-[in English]: I can't.
-Please, I can't.

[Claire]: If we tell Pearse
everything we just told you,

do you think
he'll believe you didn't talk?

No, no, no, we have a deal.

The deal was the truth
in exchange for their protection.

And everything you
told us was a lie.

It's not too late, Bruno.

Help us lock him up.
Take his money, his power.

It's the only way
you can keep your family safe.

I want a new deal. No prison time.

[in Basque]: No way in hell.

-But you need me.
-Not that badly.

You preyed on desperate people.

You threw them in the back of trucks
with open containers of biological waste.

You knew how dangerous that was.

Protection for your son.

And your ex-wife.

That's all.

What do I have to do?

There's a truck arriving
at Sanihaz at dawn.

We're going to be there to meet it

and you're coming with us

to show us how Pearse's system works.

[calling tone]

The Niamh Bennett,
giving me a call.

CAB are investigating Tar Le.

OK.

And what's that got to do with me?

[Niamh]: Did you have Nick do
something with Tar Le's accounts?

If Nick did something
with your accounts,

I knew nothing about it.

So you can f*ck off, blaming me.

Then what is it, Tony?

Why are they asking about you?

[Pearse]: Don't worry about it.

You just focus on keeping
that mouth shut.

Or what?

What happened to the man in the villa
or what almost happened to my sister,

will happen to me?

I'd never have let her go there
if you'd told me...

Told you what?

Who the f*ck do you
think you're talking to?

I need to know, Tony.

Don't start asking questions
that you don't want the answer to.

You knew full well who you
were getting into bed with.

You just thought it was worth it.

[Niamh grunts angrily]

[Niamh lets out muffled sob]
