Most little girls grow up

playing dress up as princesses

and beauty queens, but few

ever get to live that dream out.

For Lacey Vincent, though, it

was a dream that came true.

She was crowned Miss Illinois

while studying to be a

doctor at the university.

But with her newfound fame

came some unwanted attention

she wasn't ready for, nor could anyone be.

On a regular stroll through campus,

after studying with friends one night,

Lacey's life was forever

changed by an as*ault.

How does one get over

such a traumatic event?

For Lacey it meant

moving across the country.

So her and her husband Sullivan packed up

and moved to California

hoping to leave her haunted

pass behind, or so they thought.

(car humming)

I think I'm gonna throw

those steaks on the grill for us.

Oh, that sounds good.

Can you also throw some

veggies on the grill as well?

And I'll, I'll make my

sweet mashed potatoes.

Only meat on my grill, babe.

Ugh.

(Sullivan chuckles)

Do you think that place is haunted?

Seriously?

I mean, it's been vacant for so long,

and we never met the people that moved out.

Well, yeah, but it's a huge property.

I imagine it's too expensive

to buy or rent for most people.

Okay, Mr. Logical. (Chuckles)

(Sullivan chuckles)

(crickets chirping)

I'm gonna grab a drink.

(door clicks)

(glass shattering)

Did you hear that? (Slow tense music)

[Lacey] What?

Something outside.

(slow tense music continues)

(glass clinks)

[Lacey] Babe, no, just stay inside.

It's alright, let me look.

(Lacey sighs) (latch clicks)

(slow tense music

continues) (crickets chirping)

(door thuds)

What was it?

Just a broken pot.

Must be a raccoon or

something knocked it off.

Not the one I got in Mexico?

Yeah, I hope not either,

but it's dark out, so I can't really tell.

But I'll clean it up in the morning.

Welcome to country life.

Guess so. (Chuckles and sighs)

(dramatic music)

(moves to tense foreboding music)

(moves to tense dramatic music)

(Lacey groaning and whimpering)

(slow tense music)

(Lacey panting and grunting)

(eerie dramatic music)

(Lacey screaming)

Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.

(Lacey panting and gasping)

It's a nightmare It's just a nightmare.

- It's a nightmare.

- Oh God!

I'm right here.

I'm right here. I'm right here.

I'm right here. (Lacey panting)

Breathe. Breathe. (Lacey panting)

Breathe. I'm right here.

Okay. (Panting) - It's

just a nightmare, baby.

It's just a nightmare. I got you.

- I got you.

- They're back.

- No, it's okay.

- They're back.

It's okay. It's all

right. (Lacey panting)

I got you. Breathe.

(image whooshes)

(birds chirping)

(Lacey sighs)

Hey babe. Morning.

Oh, good morning.

How you feeling today?

Sorry about the nightmares.

I guess they're back.

It's all right. You

don't have to be sorry.

Maybe it's a stress.

You've been working a lot.

We're working on this house.

Maybe. (Sighs)

I love you so much.

But I am late to get to the office,

so if I could just have that apple

Oh!

That would be awesome.

More bacon for me.

I love you.

See you later.

I love you too. (Lips smack)

- See you this afternoon.

- Okay. (Chuckles)

(car humming)

Ooh, "For Rent" sign's gone.

I wonder if somebody's moved in.

Can't wait to tell Sullivan.

I wonder if it's a family.

Maybe I should bake

something and take it over. Hm.

(car whooshes)

I can't wait to meet them.

[Sullivan] Maybe we give

'em a chance to settle in

before you go pouncing on 'em.

I know, I'm just excited

that somebody's moved in.

I mean, I love being out of the city,

but it's nice to know

that somebody's close by.

[Sullivan] Yeah, of course.

Maybe we can go over there this weekend

and introduce ourselves.

That's a great idea.

[Sullivan] Lacey, keep

your eyes on the road,

not the neighbor.

I love you.

Love you too. Bye. (Chuckles)

(waves lapping) (gentle music)

(footsteps pattering) (birds chirping)

(knuckles rapping)

Can I help y'all?

(Lacey sighs)

- Hey, I'm Sullivan.

- This is my wife Lacey.

- Hey, ya.

We live right down the road from you.

Nice to meet y'all. I'm Charles.

Nice to meet you, Charles.

Hey, Charles, nice

to meet you. I'm Lacey.

It's nice to know I

have friendly neighbors

all the way out here.

It's just a shepherd's pie,

but thought you might

want something hearty.

(Charles chuckles)

Oh, thank you. Thank you y'all.

And we'd love to have you

and your wife over for dinner

if you're available.

(Charles sighs)

No wife. She died 10 years ago. Cancer.

I am so sorry.

No, thank you. It's all right.

But I would love to take

you up on that offer for dinner.

Well, he makes a mean steak. (Chuckles)

You'll have to twist my arm.

Yeah, well, if you're

available this weekend,

we got some free time.

We'd love to have you over.

That's all I got these

days is free time. I can't wait.

Great. I guess we'll see

you this weekend. (Chuckles)

You better believe it.

Nice meeting you, Charles.

Nice meeting you.

(footsteps pattering)

(Charles chuckles)

(car humming)

Well, he looks like a nice old man.

Yeah. Reminds me of someone, though.

Well, he does have a little

Robert Redford thing going on.

Robert Redford was

covered in prison tats.

What? Seriously, Sully? (Chuckling)

You make a good point.

I-I wasn't expecting

those tattoos for sure.

Definitely got some stories to tell.

Well, at least we got neighbors.

[Lacey] That's true.

So 22 years, I worked

for the postal service.

It was a great gig.

I had a buddy did 15 years

in Boston, talk about brutal.

(Charles chuckles)

Hm, that's why we pay

the sunshine tax here.

I'm so happy if we moved

out here. It's so peaceful.

You can even see the stars at night.

Yeah, me too.

I don't remember the last

time I even heard a siren.

You know, I haven't had a steak this good

since I was back in Chicago years ago.

Is that where you're from?

I was born there.

Spent part of my

childhood till we moved here.

Hmm, Lacey went to

the University of Illinois.

Did she? That is a great school.

[Lacey] I love Chicago.

What brought you here?

We just needed a change of pace.

And Sullivan got a great

offer from a firm out here, so.

You know what? Here's to change.

[Sullivan] To change and new friends.

Change and new friends.

Cheers to that.

(chuckles) (bottles clinking)

Cheers and cheers.

(chuckles) (bottles clink)

(glass taps)

(Charles sighing)

Oh, my back.

Ah, yeah. Thank you.

(birds chirping)

So what brought you out here, Charles?

Same thing as you, I suppose.

Little peace and quiet.

Yeah.

Me and Lacey were in

the city for years and years,

and I'm originally from the country,

so it was nice to get back

to that peace and quiet.

I bet.

Pretty little young wife like yours

gets a lot more of attention in the city.

(birds chirping continues)

I guess so.

Look, I'm sorry, I, I just meant

there's a heck a lot

more creeps in the city

than out here with a simple folk.

I can't disagree with you there, Charles.

Ah, this place can be boring,

but money and the hours are pretty good.

You know, I never trusted anyone enough

to just manage my money like that.

Hm, you should let me give it a try.

I can make you some good

money for them golden years.

(Charles chuckles)

I'd like that.

Same.

sh*t. I need to get going, Charles.

I need to get back to Lacey.

Hey, thank you for everything today

and give my love to Miss Illinois.

How do you know she was Miss Illinois?

What?! She was?!

I had no idea. I just

thought I was being clever.

I mean, it's been a long time since that,

but she don't really like talking about it.

(Charles chuckles)

(birds chirping continues)

Hey, and thank you. Thank you again.

I appreciate the beers too.

(bottles clink)

See you soon, Charles.

See you, son.

How was helping Charles today?

It was good,

but the tenants left all

the furniture in the house.

Really? That's weird.

Wanna know what's really weird, though?

Huh?

When I was leaving Charles's today,

he called you Miss Illinois.

(gentle ominous music)

What? Why?

He said he was just trying to be funny.

I mean, I'm sure he didn't know

you were really Miss Illinois.

Why would he say that then?

I mean, we did tell him

that you went to U of I,

and he was trying to be funny.

He's a horny old man

trying to get off, I mean.

That's disgusting.

Let's find out who you are, Charles.

(birds chirping)

(Lacey sighs)

Charles, Charles Parker.

(keyboard typing)

Who are you?

(Lacey murmurs)

I bet Charles isn't even your name.

Parker.

(Lacey sighs)

(gentle ominous music)

(Lacey sighs)

Why would the state just

sell it again so quickly?

(gentle ominous music continues)

(image whooshes)

(Lacey groaning and whimpering)

- Oh, hm, sorry.

- It's just a dream.

Did you see all this, though?

What exactly am I looking at?

Charles Parker exists,

but our neighbor is not Charles Parker.

Then who is he?

So 10 years ago,

the state was awarded the

property from the former owner,

Harry Richmond.

(gentle ominous music)

- Okay.

Okay, so I did some

research on Harry Richmond,

and I found this.

(gentle ominous music continues)

Well, Harry Richmond

sounds like a real standup guy.

But what's he got to do with Charles?

Charles Parker is Harry Richmond.

You think we have a

r*pist for a neighbor?

(gentle ominous continues)

I think it's him.

Who Harry?

He's the one who r*ped me.

Lacey, there is no way

that's the guy that r*ped you.

You don't know that!

They never caught the guy!

(tense dramatic music)

That was 20 years ago.

He don't even have the

same last name anymore.

They never caught the guy!

How do you know?! (sighs)

Lacey, I love you so much.

I'm here for whatever you need. I got you.

We just need proof that it's him.

Why don't we start by

going to the police tomorrow

and showing 'em what you found?

All right? It's gonna be okay, I promise.

(gentle pensive music) (birds chirping)

Hey, good morning, guys.

Robert.

How are you doing, Sully?

So good to see you again.

Likewise, man.

Hey, Lacey.

Hey, nice to see you.

Have a seat, guys.

Thank you. (Breathes deeply)

(Lacey sighs)

So guys, I know this

all looks really, really solid

and has led you to all these conclusions

that you've told me about, but,

but there's really no

proof in any of this here.

Harry Richmond was a r*pist.

He was, but even if he changed

his name to Charles Parker,

it's not against the law

to change your name.

And honestly, he may well

have just moved back to his old house

because they took it from him

during the settlement

with all of his victims.

Also, I can't find any record

of him ever being a noise

at the time of your as*ault.

I'm telling you it was

him. (Breathes deeply)

(gentle ominous music)

Lisa, I understand

that you're looking for

closure in this, I really do.

The unfortunate fact

is that the last 20 years

may have to be that closure for you.

I'm sorry.

(gentle ominous music continues)

It's good seeing you again, Robert.

[Robert] Likewise, Sullivan.

I really appreciate all your help.

[Robert] I really wish I

could have been more help.

And I promise if anything comes up,

I will give you guys a call.

[Sullivan] We'd appreciate

that too. Thank you.

Thanks.

When does obsession take over logic?

Sometimes we want

something to be true so badly

we start putting a puzzle

together with pieces

that just don't fit.

Could Lacey and Sullivan's

new neighbor, Charles,

really be the man who r*ped her years ago?

It's hard to fully dismiss her concern,

given his newly exposed past.

And no one wants to live next to an ex-con.

And one can only imagine

the trauma stirred up in Lacey

knowing she's a victim

of the exact same crimes

he was convicted of.

What would you do

if you thought your

neighbor was your r*pist?

Do you really think

that was a raccoon again

that made that mess on our porch?

I mean, I don't know what it was.

I mean, what do you think it was?

I don't know.

[Sullivan] I mean, it

could have been a bear

or some other kind of animal too.

I don't think so.

All right, how about I

stop by Charles's house

and see if he heard anything?

[Lacey] Yeah. Yeah, that's a good idea.

One benefit of having

neighbors these days.

[Lacey] Hm.

(birds chirping)

Oh, nice g*n, Charles.

(Charles chuckles)

Yeah, she's a beaut.

Still fires the same way

as the first day I bought her.

How can I help you?

I know this is a long shot,

but you hear anything down

at our house the other night?

Well, I can't say that I did.

Hearing it's not the same

as it used to be, though.

We came home, back porch

destroyed, planters broke,

screen door ripped.

You know, sounds like a bear to me.

Probably smelled the grill, came looking.

I thought it could be a bear too,

but didn't see any fresh bear tracks.

(Charles chuckles)

Now bears could be sneaky little things,

even though they're way over 600 pound.

Yeah, I guess it could have been a bear.

Ah, wanted to ask you

something kind of personal,

get it off my chest.

[Charles] Huh, sounds serious.

I hope not.

Spit it out.

So, you know, my wife's had

some time on her hands lately,

and she started looking

into this place and you.

[Charles] May I ask why?

I told her about that Miss

Illinois comment you made,

kind of sent her down a rabbit hole.

Lemme stop you right there, son.

My real name is Harry Richmond.

And I did time for r*pe.

Now, the person who accused

me was my ex-girlfriend.

We got in a fight.

She, see now I'm charged with r*pe

and a couple other things.

(gentle ambient music) (birds chirping)

So Lacey was right.

No, I am not proud of it.

And I know I didn't r*pe that woman,

but I had to sell this place

to pay for the civil judgment she got.

All I wanted to do was to come back here,

even if I couldn't afford to own it again.

(gentle ambient music continues)

(birds continue chirping)

Sorry for bringing it up.

I can see it brings up

some bad feelings for you.

I didn't figure her for a

detective. She did good work.

Lacey's a driven and

determined woman, that's for sure.

I appreciate your honesty, Charles.

Well, you can only hide

from your past for so long.

Thank you.

(gentle ominous music)

Hey, Charles, did you

ever go back to Chicago?

No, I never made it

back. (Heart throbbing)

All right, see you around Charles.

(heart throbbing continues)

(gentle ambient music)

(g*n taps)

So just like that, it's over.

He says "no," and you believe him?

(Sullivan sighs)

He admitted to being

Harry before I even asked him.

Why would he lie about Illinois?

Because it puts him in the

city where r*pes were happening

and, and he just admitted

that he r*ped someone.

Yeah, but his side of

the story is way different.

Oh, I bet it is.

Honey, I just...

(Sullivan sighs)

Maybe Detective Taylor can

help now that he's confessed

to being a r*pist.

All right, I promise

I'll call Detective Taylor

in the morning on the way to work.

Okay. (Sighs)

But for now, we need to stay

away from Charles and Harry.

I'm not going anywhere near him.

I just want you to be

safe. I love you so much.

(lips smack)

Mm.

Hey, Sully.

Thank you so much for

looking into this again, detective.

Sure.

I will crosscheck both the names again

around the time of the r*pe,

see if anything new hits, okay?

I really appreciate it. Thank you.

No problem. I'll be in touch.

(phone taps)

(gentle ominous music) (birds chirping)

(gentle ominous music continues)

(birds continue chirping)

(footsteps pattering)

(gentle ominous music continues)

(birds continue chirping)

(Lacey grunts)

(gentle ominous music continues)

(knob clicks)

(door thuds)

(footsteps padding)

(gentle ominous music continues)

It is not breaking and

entering. It's just looking around.

(exhales sharply)

DNA.

(Lacey sighs)

(toothbrush taps)

(Lacey gasps)

Bingo.

(bag rustling)

(door squeaking)

(tense menacing music)

Oh sh*t.

(door thuds)

(Casey panting)

(tense menacing music continues)

Lacey!

(g*n bangs)

I know you were in my house!

(tense menacing music continues)

Don't you worry, I'll come visit you soon!

(door thuds)

(footsteps pattering)

Hey babe, how are you?

What's this?

It's his hair.

Whose hair?! Charles's?!

Lacey, what the hell were you thinking?

You can't be breaking into people's houses.

You're a criminal now.

It was the only way

to prove he's my r*pist.

What if he finds out

you were in his house?

Lacey, does he know you were in his house?

I thought he'd be gone longer.

And I guess he came back for something.

He didn't actually see me, though.

He just yelled my name and he chased me.

He chased you?!

Well, he didn't...

(Lacey sighs)

He ran outside.

He just chased after

me, and he shot his g*n.

He shot at you?!

It was just to scare

me, but it, it worked.

[Sullivan] What the

hell were you thinking?!

What are we gonna do with him now?

We're gonna take

this to Detective Taylor,

and we're gonna get it tested.

You can't, you got this illegally.

He doesn't have to know that, does he?

[Sullivan] Lacey.

[Detective Taylor] So

he left this at your house

on your couch?

Yes. You know, we

had him over for drinks.

I saw those and thought, "Why not?"

Why didn't you just bring me the glass

that he was drinking out of?

I'm, I'm not a detective.

I just thought that hair

might be better for testing.

Guys, you're asking me to do something

that is completely against protocol,

not to mention borderline ill*gal.

Please, I need to put this behind me.

We'd really appreciate it.

I'll see what I can do, okay?

[Both] Thank you.

Thank you. (Sighs)

[Detective Taylor] Your welcome.

(gentle solemn music)

(car humming)

Hey, babe, I'm on my way home.

I'll see you soon. I love you.

(crickets chirping)

(glass shattering)

(tense menacing music)

(fist pounding)

[Lacey] Get the g*n! The g*n! The g*n!

I told you I'd come

looking forward to you!

Oh, a chase gets me going the most!

(tense menacing music continues)

(Lacey cries and gasps)

(door thuds)

(latch clicks)

(Lacey panting)

(g*n thuds) (Lacey screams and cries)

Calm yourself. (Lacey panting)

You'll ruin that pretty little face.

(Lacey crying) (Charles laughing)

(Lacey panting)

[Lacey] Are you gonna hurt me?

[Charles] Do you really want

to know the answer to that?

(tense menacing music continues)

(Charles laughing)

[Lacey] Are you gonna hurt me?

Please don't hurt me! (Cries)

[Charles] It only hurts

if you fight it, remember?

(Lacey crying and screaming)

(Lacey thumps)

(kick thumps) (Lacy and Charles grunt)

(Lacey yelling and panting)

[Lacey] Oh God!

(Charles coughs and

laughs) (gentle eerie music)

b*tch broke my nose! (Sighs)

(Lacey panting and gasping)

(tense menacing music) (Charles laughing)

(indistinct)

(indistinct)

Don't run away. (Lacey continues panting)

(knife scraping)

[Lacey] Stay the f*ck away (fist thumps)

From me!

(Lacey yells)

(menacing music continues)

(Lacey cries and pants)

[Charles] (indistinct) (Lacey screaming)

(Lacey gasps and cries)

Now, it's just me and you, sweetheart.

(fist thumping) (Lacey screaming)

(Charles grunting) (fist continue thumping)

(menacing music continues)

f*ck you!

(fist thumps)

(Charles laughing)

(fist thumps)

(Lacey panting and moaning)

(knife clinks)

(menacing music continues)

Who are you gonna save?!

You're not saving anybody!

(knife thwacking) (Lacey screaming)

(Charles grunting) (knife thwacking)

(body thumps)

(knife clinking)

(eerie dramatic music)

[Lacey] Oh, baby. (Gasps)

Baby, (gasps) are you okay?

Are you okay? (Cries)

[Sullivan] Where is he? (Lacey panting)

[Lacey] He's dead. He's dead.

Oh, baby, are you okay? (Cries)

(Sullivan moans)

(gentle melancholic music)

[Detective Taylor] You

guys are lucky to be alive.

Hell, we know, Robert. We know.

(paper swishes)

Is that what I think it is?

(paper rustling)

(gentle melancholic music continues)

(tense dramatic music)

(Lacey gasping and whimpering)

(gentle melancholic music)

(paper rustling)

It wasn't him.

(Lacy gasping)

- It's gonna be all right,

Lacey.

It's all right.

(Lacey exhales sharply)

(gentle melancholic music continues)

(Lacey breathes deeply)

(tense dramatic music)

It turns out neither Charles

or Harry were good guys,

but neither were Lacey's r*pist.

Her obsession nearly cost

her and Sullivan their lives.

Lacey's desire to get

closure from her past trauma

leads her to yet another

and even more traumatic

experience for her and Sullivan.

Sometimes holding onto our past

can misguide and hide the truth from us.

Victims want and demand

an answer as to "why me?"

The fact is, they'll probably

never get that answer.

Violence can be planned and calculated,

yet most of the times it's random,

wrong place, wrong time.

(gentle somber music)

(car whooshes)

(birds chirping)

(car whooshes)

Second, chances may not

be something we all deserve,

but there are some people who truly do.

And Bailey Baker was one

of those who deserved one.

And that's all she was

asking for, a fresh start.

Making up for lost time with her father.

Getting her life back on track.

Sometimes going home

isn't as easy as they say.

And not everyone feels the

same about second chances.

Baby! What did they do to my baby?!

(Wanda crying)

No, I did, I didn't. (Cries)

You know, I can't, I can't describe

how long a waited for this day to come.

Look, they didn't even

break you, beautiful woman.

You know, you get that from your mother.

Get your height from me.

- Hm, a little bit.

- Hey Riley,

this is my daughter.

(Bailey huffs)

Nothing like a warm welcome

back to the neighborhood.

Hey, listen, listen, listen to me.

Don't worry about these

people and what they think,

all right?

'Cause what matters is that you're home.

You're out that spot

and you're here with me.

You understand?

[Bailey] Yeah.

Look, I'm telling you the truth.

All right? What matters

is that you're home.

You're out. In that first doorway.

Look, I know we gotta deal with a lot,

but again, you're home.

Everything is over. All right?

- Yeah.

- Okay.

Dad, I've loved what

you've done with the place.

(Dad sighs)

There's that sarcasm.

After all these years still there, huh?

(Bailey chuckles)

Well, yeah. I admit, I admit,

could use a little

woman's touch, a little TLC.

Think. (Chuckles)

Hey, well look, let the

place air out a little bit.

Get you something to drink, okay?

Okay.

(Bailey huffs)

Ew. (Paper rustling)

(gentle serene music) (birds chirping)

(lips smack)

(gentle serene music continues)

(footsteps padding)

(door thuds)

(Bailey moans and sighs)

(paper rustling)

(Bailey chuckles)

(traffic humming)

All right, all right.

What did you make me? What did you make me?

(paper rustling)

(Dad chuckles)

Peanut butter and chips. No jelly.

(Dad chuckles)

(hands smacking)

Okay. That's cute.

(Bailey chuckling)

Hello?

Now I have the chips in

my sandwich without the jelly.

(Dad chuckling)

[Bailey] I'm sorry, Dad.

I could have sworn that was your favorite.

No, that's your favorite growing up.

But just call and check on you,

see how everything is going.

How you doing?

I'm okay. I'm doing okay.

I am just sitting here watching TV,

hanging out, chilling. (Chuckles)

Okay, well, if you get a chance,

why don't you go out into

the neighborhood, you know,

just get some scenery,

walk around, all right?

Okay, I hear you, Dad. Oh,

and yes, a pizza and a movie.

(Dad chuckles)

All right, well, it's a

date. Okay. I love you.

I love you. Bye

Bye.

(latch clicks)

(door thuds)

No, I didn't!

Malik!

No, I didn't!

(gentle menacing music)

(Bailey gasps)

- Whoa, whoa, whoa!

It's Daddy, it's Daddy, it's Daddy.

Sorry, you scared me.

Oh, I'm sorry,

I should have thought

first before touching you.

I was just trying to

put the blanket on you.

Hey, listen, listen, I know it's

gonna take some time, okay?

But you don't have to be on

defense here at your home.

I'm sorry, Daddy. It was awful.

I know, I know, I know.

And look, I'm not gonna

let anything happen to you.

You hear me? (Lips smack)

I promise you that.

I promise you that.

(birds chirping) (traffic humming)

Bailey, the nerve of you to show up here!

You're not welcome here ever!

You better watch your back!

Just because you did your

time doesn't mean I'm satisfied

with the punishment!

[Bailey] Ms. Wanda, I'm

Shut up! I don't wanna hear

a damn word you have to say!

(image whooshes) (gentle ominous music)

- Hurry up! Hurry up!

- What are we gonna do?

We cannot let them

know what we were up to

or we'll get in f*cking trouble.

No! The cops are coming.

Come on, come on. Come on.

[Bailey] Help. Please! No!

Malik.

Hey, Bails, I'm home.

Hey, Dad.

[Dad] Hey, what you doing, huh?

Hey.

[Bailey] Hey.

How was your day?

It was good.

Um, I'm just chilling, relaxing.

Just chilling and relaxing.

[Bailey] Mm-hm.

I'm gonna let that answer

slide for right now, young lady,

but I wanna hear some details.

I wanna hear about your day.

Okay.

Okay, well, I'm gonna

go clean up, prep for dinner.

Start cooking, all right?

Okay, I'll be out soon.

Okay.

There you go.

(hands smacking)

So I know you didn't want

to, but did you get out today?

Yeah, I took a little walk

around the neighborhood.

- Okay.

- And people watch.

People watch.

Well, you see anything

interesting or anyone?

Nope. But I did see

that that diner is gone.

Yeah, closed down a couple years ago.

But you know those

pancakes you like as a child?

Mm-hmm.

I got the recipe for you.

Seriously?

Yeah, it's the last thing you

had before you went away.

So I'll make 'em this weekend for you.

Oh, I used to dream about those pancakes.

Well, hopefully I make

that dream come true.

(both chuckle)

(image whooshes)

(traffic humming)

If that little b*tch thinks

she can just come strolling

back here like nothing happened,

I'll show her!

I think you've had

enough tonight, Ms. Jones.

I'm just getting started with that b*tch!

- You see the girl?

- Her daddy walks around

like she's a little princess!

I know, your mom's here.

Yeah, she's tying one on real good.

All right, see you soon.

(bottle taps)

We'll fill you another shot.

(Wanda chuckles)

(traffic humming) (gentle serene music)

(moves to gentle menacing music)

Mom, what did I tell you?

- Malcolm, baby!

- How you doing?

How you doing? You good?

What are you doing here?

Sit, sit, sit. Have a,

have a drink with me.

Jimmy, no.

Two shots and two beers.

You go home.

(Wanda chuckles)

You ready? Mm-hmm.

Mm-hmm, come on.

You're such a good son. You

always take good care of me.

- Of course, Mommy.

- Always.

- Yes, sure.

- Always.

Y-You know who's back in the neighborhood?

[Malcolm] Who, Mommy?

That little b*tch, Bailey!

That b*tch Bailey back in town. (Cries)

Okay, okay, come on. Come

on now, let's get you home.

Come on. You'll be okay.

Come on, get you some water.

- You're such a good boy.

You should let me beat her a*s.

Mom, you cannot do that.

They will press charges on you.

Let them!

Your brother will be rolling in his grave

with you defending her!

Mom, I am not defending

her. I'm trying to protect you.

Like you protect Malik?

I'm sorry, Malcolm. I don't mean that.

(Malcolm sighs)

She took my baby,

(tense dramatic music)

your little brother, from us!

I miss him so much.

I-I know, Mom. I miss him.

But I'm here, and I need you, okay?

Okay. Come on, let's get you home.

(tense ominous music) (Bailey panting)

Malik!

No, I didn't!

I didn't! (Cries)

Malik!

(tense ominous music continues)

Malik! No! (Gasps)

I'm sorry! I don't...

(tense dramatic music)

Hey, you okay?

Yeah.

[Dad] Yeah? Easy.

Yeah, it was just a bad, a bad nightmare.

Okay, all right. Now look,

you're home now, okay?

And you're safe. All right

you want some water?

I don't, yeah, maybe.

[Dad] All right, come

here, come here, come here.

I love you, all right?

Me too.

You home.

(Bailey panting)

You know what? I'm gonna take it back.

You know I'm gonna get

you? Some chocolate milk.

(Bailey chuckles)

Gotta get some chocolate milk, baby girl.

- Okay.

- I got you.

(gentle somber music)

(car whooshing)

(Bailey chuckling)

You know what I was just thinking about?

Just having a flashback.

Do you remember when

your mother cut your hair?

Oh my god, Dad. No, please. (Chuckles)

Oh, you were so mad.

You know, I have a picture of that still.

No, please burn it. (Dad chuckles)

It's probably so hideous.

Mama, I love you, but she cannot cut hair.

No, she couldn't. And it was hideous.

But I'll be right back.

What was going through your her head?

(Dad chuckles)

Your Mama.

Can I get you anything else?

Oh, no, I think we're good.

Okay, well I'll just leave

the check with you then,

and you can take your time with that.

Thanks.

Welcome back, Bailey.

It's me, Miranda from

ninth grade math class.

Oh, of course, yeah. How have you been?

Um, I'm good. I'm working here.

But it could always be worse.

I'm sure you know what I mean?

Yeah, of course. Yeah,

I know what you mean.

Things could always be worse.

And they usually are

for toxic people like you.

Excuse me?

You heard me.

Hey, so, want dessert?

You ready?

Oh, I thought you wanted dessert. Okay.

Hm. (Gulping)

Bailey, wait!

(gentle pensive music)

Bailey. (People chattering)

(traffic humming) (cars beeping)

(gentle pensive music continues)

(footsteps pattering)

(tense dramatic music)

- [Wanda] b*tch!

- Come here, you b*tch!

- Stop, Ms. Wanda!

(Bailey screams)

Get off of me!

[Wanda] You're gonna pay

what you did to my son! (Bailey screams)

[Bailey] Crazy! Get off of me!

Stop!

[Malcolm] Mom, stop!

- You crazy b*tch!

- Crazy a*s b*tch!

[Malcolm] I'm so sorry.

(Bailey sighs)

Wounds that haven't

healed become infected.

And in the case of Wanda,

her old wounds are full of infection.

But how can a mother be expected

to forgive someone who k*lled her son?

It's a tall ask for anyone,

in my opinion. (Sniffs)

And it's clear, Wanda isn't

ready to forgive or forget.

A fire left unattended

can turn into a raging one

with just a spark.

And for Wanda, her spark

was Bailey coming home.

Her fire was outta control

with revenge, her only goal.

(latch clicks)

[Dad] Hey.

(door thuds)

- Hey.

[Dad] You okay?

(door thuds)

Yeah.

And now look, I want

you to talk to me now, okay?

So is she the reason

why you didn't wanna talk the other night?

(Bailey sighs)

So out by the steps, she went off on me.

And then when I was coming

home from the coffee shop,

she attacked me.

What you mean attacked?

She put her hands on you too?

I see, this puts the spin.

She's gone too far with this.

Dad, stop. It's fine.

We already have enough attention on us.

Okay.

Okay,

so you wanna move?

Oh, hell no! I'm not

gonna let her scare us away!

No, no, but think

about it, a fresh start.

People don't know us.

It might be good for us.

Yeah, but I just got home.

[Dad] I know, I know.

I love being in my room. (Chuckles)

- Dad, I just...

- I know.

No.

Home team, home team.

They won't run us away.

But look, well, the offer is on the table

you ready to go?

(lips smack)

All right?

- Okay.

- Yeah?

Yeah.

You hungry?

(Bailey chuckles)

Yeah.

Let me get you something.

I made some of that

Kool-Aid you like, though.

- Oh my goodness.

- I just poured

like half a bag of sugar.

(birds chirping) (gentle pensive music)

[Malcolm] Mr. Baker?

Malcolm. Malcolm, Malcolm.

What you doing here, man?

My mom told me Bailey was back in town,

and I know she's been on kind of a bender

since she's been back.

Now your mother has lost her damn mind.

Of course, she did.

She put her hands on my

daughter. She pushed her down.

Then last night she spit on her.

I wanna apologize for my mom's mistake.

She's, she, she just can't get over Malik.

Yeah, I understand. No, I do.

I truly do. I understand.

But just like I can't

get over losing my wife,

that does not give her the

right to treat Bailey like sh*t

and spit on her.

You know what it is to

spit on another human?

What that means, huh?

Yeah, yes, sir.

I just wanted to come down here

and let you know that I'm

gonna talk to her truthfully.

Alright. Hey, I appreciate that.

All right, man.

No! (Gentle somber music)

Malik! What did they do to him?!

- Malik!

- f*ck!

Malcolm, what do we do?!

(Wanda crying)

[Malcolm] Just, just, just,

just grab the bottles and um...

Come on, come on, come on. (Wanda crying)

(Bailey crying)

(gentle somber music continues)

(cars beeping) (birds chirping)

(footsteps pattering)

(latch clicks)

(latch clicks)

(Dad sighs)

(door thuds)

Hey, Bailey!

(door thuds)

Bails, thanks for the bag,

but everybody made fun of me at work today.

(bag plops)

Hey!

(tools jangling)

Get off me.

[Dad] Bail? (Bailey moaning)

- Hey, hey, hey!

- No!

[Dad] Daddy's here. Daddy's here.

You're home, you're home.

- Get off me! (Panting)

Breathe, breathe, you're okay.

Okay, wait, wait, wait.

Breathe. Breathe. (Bailey panting)

Okay, alright. What happened?

I wanna move.

Okay.

- I wanna move.

- Okay,

we'll start looking tomorrow.

Okay? All right? (Bailey continues panting)

Yeah. (Breathes deeply)

[Dad] Wait, wait. Where'd

you, wait, let me see.

Where, where, where'd you get these?

Just don't wanna talk

about it. I just wanna move.

- I don't wanna talk about it.

- Okay,

I'm gonna give you a moment.

We're gonna talk about this later, okay?

Yeah.

I'll get you some tea.

(Bailey cries)

(birds chirping)

(footsteps pattering)

Hey thanks. Thanks

for coming to talk to me.

I-I really appreciate it. You look good.

(Bailey huffs)

That's not what I mean, meant to say.

I, things just been downhill after Malik

with my mom and everything.

Yeah, it seems like

we all did, except you.

(Bailey huffs)

Look, it's fine. (Huffs)

We're moving so she won't be

bothering us anymore anyway.

I'm sorry. Where are you moving to?

Somewhere far away from your mom

and this place, everything.

And don't worry,

I'm not gonna press charges against her.

That's what you really

wanted to ask me, right?

Yeah.

Lucky for you,

at least one of us knows

how to keep their word.

Bailey, you know it wasn't

supposed to go down like that.

Yeah, I know. And so do you.

(Malcolm huffs)

(gentle pensive music)

Malik could have been a star.

He was talented.

He was gonna get me

outta this sh*t h*le place!

I'm gonna k*ll that b*tch!

Ms. Jones, you're done for the night.

Don't you be taking

my drink away from me.

- Come on. How about a water?

- I'm just gettin' started.

Yeah. Eh, no, she's here. But hurry.

Who are you talking

to?! Telling on me again?!

Come on, lemme give you a water.

I want one of those now.

I'll tell you what,

last one on the house.

(people chattering)

(glass taps)

He was such a sweetie.

[Jim] Where you going, Ms. Jones?

Wouldn't you like to know?

Hey, why don't you have a seat?

Your son's coming

right over to pick you up.

Sure, sure he is.

(plates clinking and clattering)

(gentle somber music)

Hey, Jim, have you seen my mom?

Dude, I'm so sorry.

Tried to keep here, but

she wouldn't listen to me.

How long ago? She left

around 15 minutes ago.

15?

- Yeah.

- Okay.

All right, good luck.

You know that pool is heated.

I'm so excited to have a pool, Dad.

Like, I really thought

that I wasn't gonna be

excited about moving,

but so ready.

(door pounding)

[Wanda] Open the damn door b*tch!

(Dad sighs)

This lady is crazy.

- She will not leave us alone.

- Bailey,

I know you're in there.

I just wanna talk to you.

- Well, you gonna be talkin'-

- Open this

- to the police.

- Damn door!

[Dad] Get away from my door now!

(gentle serene music)

(door thudding)

Bailey, I just wanna talk to you!

I know you're in there!

[Bailey] Wanda, you won, we're moving!

- You won!

- Bailey,

you're still in there.

I just wanna talk to you.

I'm getting

a restraining order now.

- Open this damn door!

[Dad] Get away from my door.

[Wanda] You think they scare me?

[Bailey] Should we

just call the cops, Dad?

What should we do?

[Dad] I think she's gone.

(Bailey sighs)

Yeah.

(bat thwacks) (Bailey gasps)

(intense suspense music)

I'm gonna k*ll you tonight, b*tch!

[Bailey] Wanda!

- I'm gonna k*ll you tonight.

- No! No!

(Bailey and Wanda grunting)

Wanda!

- You k*lled my baby!

- You're crazy!

(Bailey and Wanda grunting)

(intense suspense music continues)

Wanda! (Dad moaning)

[Wanda] I'm gonna k*ll you! No!

(knife thwacks) (intense dramatic music)

(Dad grunting)

Wanda!

(Bailey and Wanda grunting)

[Wanda] b*tch!

(knife whooshes) (intense dramatic music)

(Bailey grunts)

(Wanda grunts)

(intense suspense music)

(Wanda crying)

Mom, what did you do?!

She k*lled my baby!

And I couldn't stand for her to be here!

- She k*lled my baby.

- Mom.

I couldn't, I couldn't

stand to have her living here.

Mom, Mom, she didn't k*ll Malik.

He fell when we was up there drinking.

We... What?

[Malcolm] I lied to you.

- I'm sorry.

- What? (Crying)

Why didn't you tell me this?

- Mom, we were just kids.

- After all this time.

[Malcolm] We were just, I was scared.

(Wanda screaming)

Malik!

(Malik gasps)

Malik!

What they do to my baby?!

What'd they do to my baby?!

- Malik!

- f*ck!

[Bailey] Malcolm, what do we do?!

(Wanda crying)

[Malcolm] Just, just,

just, grab the bottles,

- and um...

- Malik!

[Malcolm] Come on, come on, come on!

Stand up! Come on! (Crying)

(gentle somber music)

(tense dramatic music)

(Dad moaning) (gentle melancholic music)

I'm sorry. I'm supposed protect you.

(melancholic music continues)

Sorry.

(camera clicks)

We've all told a lie here and there,

so it might be hard to imagine

one of them coming to light

after years of burying it.

Truth is, lies live on until

the truth is finally exhumed.

Sadly, this one cost more

lives than it should have.

What if Malcolm had the

courage to tell the truth years ago?

What would everyone's lives

look like? We'll never know.

But what we do know are the facts.

Three dead people, one

life ruined behind bars,

and one man left standing, Malcolm,

the one who could have prevented it all.

(gentle somber music)

Losing a lifelong love is devastating.

The pain of grieving is one

that only one who has gone

through it can truly empathize

with the mourning.

The pain and the hurt,

the loneliness and sadness takes over.

It holds you so tight, it

can be hard to breathe.

And all you want is an escape from it.

Frank wanted this and needed this,

a way to move on from

his dead wife, Olivia,

and start living life again.

Oftentimes in grief, we're

so desperate to find a way,

we overlook and miss

things we wouldn't normally.

So when his coworker, Anne,

offers to help him get him back out there,

he reluctantly accepts.

(gentle somber music)

(keyboard clicking)

(traffic humming)

(door thuds)

(wine gurgling)

(bottle taps)

(Frank sighs)

(phone ringing) (printer whirring)

- Good morning, Frank.

- Oh damn.

(Frank gasps) (frame clatters)

Sorry. I'm really sorry.

It wasn't your fault.

Just on edge with it,

being the anniversary of losing her.

Sorry, I don't know what I would do

if I lost someone I love that much.

She was my world.

Yeah, well, you were hers

too. She was a sweet woman.

I know she would hate to see you like this,

always so down, so sad.

It hurts my heart, Frank.

Thank you. I appreciate that.

(Frank sighs)

I just don't know how to move on.

(Anne huffs)

You let me worry about that, Mr.

We'll get you outta that funk

just like Olivia would've wanted.

(traffic humming) (gentle

melancholic music)

(gentle melancholic music continues)

(bag thuds)

(wine gurgles)

(gentle melancholic music continues)

(gentle melancholic music continues)

(traffic humming)

(liquid splashing) (machine whirring)

- Hi.

- Whoa!

Ah!

Oh, I'm so sorry.

Oh, no, you know,

you don't... Forgive me.

You don't have to do that.

This is... No, I want to.

- I'm such a clutz.

- Ah, look, I'm so sorry,

I got it all over you.

It's okay.

I can get this out myself.

- I'm, I'm gonna,

I'm gonna go change.

I gotta clean shirt in my office drawer.

Well, you remember

how I said we were gonna

get you out of the funk?

I was thinking we could go out

and do something this weekend.

You and me?

You and I, we're gonna go out,

and we're gonna do something like fun.

I don't know if I'm ready

Nope. Yes, you are.

I'm not taking no for an answer.

Come on, come on.

(Frank sighs)

Wow. (Chuckles) Best enchiladas ever.

Hmm. (People chattering)

Margaritas aren't that bad either.

Mm. Those are good.

(Anne chuckling)

(Frank chuckles)

(Anne humming)

What are you humming?

Well, I just hum when

I'm happy. (Chuckles)

- [Frank] Oh yeah?

- Yeah.

That's, that's cool. That's cool.

Maybe we should do some shots.

- Shots?

- Yeah.

That sounds good.

Do you like Froyo?

I love Froyo.

Let's get some Froyo. Shots and Froyo.

[Anne] Okay.

All right. (Chuckles)

I love Froyo. What's

your favorite flavor?

Chocolate.

Gotta go with chocolate.

- I'll have chocolate.

Fancy Dutch chocolate?

You like chocolate?

Yeah. What other flavors do you like?

Um, I'll mix in like

some vanilla with that too.

I like vanilla too. (Chuckles)

What toppings do you like?

Just like chopped nuts.

I like chopped nuts as well.

Cookie dough.

[Anne] Cookie dough I like too.

We have a lot in common, Frank?

(Frank huffs)

Yeah.

(traffic humming) (gentle

melancholic music)

(keyboard clicking) (phone ringing)

(gentle melancholic music)

(footsteps padding)

(Anne gasps)

Oh my goodness. Frank,

you're scared me near to death.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean

to sneak up on you like that.

It's okay. It's usually

me scaring you, silly.

(both chuckle)

You owe me a couple.

So what brought you all

the way here to my cubicle?

Oh yeah, right, um...

Well, I was thinking since you've been

so good about getting me

back out into the real world,

maybe I could cook you dinner.

You cook?

Yeah.

Well, it's been a while,

but I used to cook all the time for Olivia.

In that case. I'm flattered. I, I accept.

Great.

Ah, so does Friday

around 8:00... Yes!

Nice.

Forgot to ask, any food allergies?

[Anne] No.

Amazing.

Thanks. Amazing. (Frank chuckles)

(gentle melancholic music)

(cars whooshing)

(food sizzling)

Mmm, so sweet of you.

[Frank] Ah, actually

feels good to cook again.

See, all my pushiness is paying off.

I think so.

(glasses clinking)

Please make yourself at home.

I can take your bag

- and hang that up.

- Okay.

Ah, actually, I'm sorry.

Can I get something out

of it before you put it away?

- Sure. It's okay, yeah.

- Okay.

I need to finish getting

dinner ready anyways, so.

[Anne] Okay, do you need any help?

Ah, no, thanks. Ah, actually,

do you want some wine?

I'd love some.

All right, I'll give you this.

I'll pour it. You go

concentrate on the food.

[Frank] Thanks.

(wine gurgles)

[Anne] It smells so good.

(wine gurgles)

(bottle taps)

Yeah, we'll see how this turns out.

Frank, I had no idea

you could cook like this.

Bobby Flay who?

(both chuckling)

Thank you, but it's, it's

been a while. Pretty rusty, so.

Well, it goes to show how good you are.

(both chuckle)

Hmm, I'll come clean this up before I go.

Oh, leave it please.

I'll, I'll take care of it later, yes.

Um, to you for helping me to see

I can start to live life without Olivia.

You've been such a great

friend these past few months.

(glasses clink)

So yeah, we've had quite

a bit of fun, haven't we?

Mm-hmm.

(Frank sighs)

Frank, um, I've wanted

to tell you something.

Oh, okay. Ah, is, ah, what is it?

Is everything okay?

Yeah, everything's great.

At least, um, at least I hope it will be.

Oh yeah.

Hey, it's...

Whoa! Oh, no, no, no!

I'm sorry, I...

Uh, you know what? I can't hide it anymore.

I like you as more than a friend.

Oh, oh, uh, I didn't, I didn't mean to...

Did I lead you on? (Huffs)

No, I'm just falling for you being you.

And I think we'd be a great match.

Um, no, I, I think we should stop.

I think you should stop.

Frank, I could be... I think we're friends

- the woman for you.

- And we work together.

Your woman.

No, I, I think you should leave.

Frank, gimme a chance. Give us a chance.

I know Olivia would approve.

Okay, get out now!

Frank, I'm sorry if I was too strong.

I'm falling in love with you.

- Y-You need to leave now.

(glass shattering)

(shoes clacking) (gentle suspense music)

(door thuds)

Cute, charming, caring, yet volatile.

If ever there was a wolf in

sheep's clothing, it was Anne.

Obsessing over Frank for months,

all the while plotting

for him to fall in love

and sheer her infatuation.

But when Frank rejects

Anne, her true colors come out.

And unfortunately for Frank,

he can't just wash his hands

of her and forget about her.

He has to see her in the

office on Monday morning.

And something tells me

she's not giving up that easily.

(cars whooshing)

(gentle suspense music)

(crane whirring)

(traffic humming)

Hm, so if Frank could

help me out on this one,

I think he'd be great. (Chuckles)

Agreed. I think Frank

would be great on this.

(phone ringing)

This is Frank. Can you hold please?

Frank, it's Sharon.

Sorry, Mrs. Killian,

Can you come into my office for a second?

I wanna run something by you.

Yeah, sure. I'll be right there.

(gentle suspense music)

(Anne chuckles)

(Frank sighs)

(knuckles rapping)

Come in. Take a seat, Frank.

Anne was just telling me

about one of her projects,

and we both agree,

we think you could be

of immense help to her.

(gentle suspense music continues)

Oh, I mean, I'm flattered,

but I have a pretty heavy workload

with my projects right now.

That's why I'm going to give Gabby two

of your smaller projects.

I'm really excited to work

with you on this, Frank.

(Frank huffing)

You know, I hate not

closing out my own projects.

I know, but this is

great practice for Gabby,

since she's so green.

And Anne's project is more important.

Karen, thank you.

Frank, let me know when

you wanna get started.

Sure thing.

(gentle suspense music continues)

(shoes clacking)

Everything okay? You two

always seem to get along.

Yeah, yeah. I mean,

we're work friends. (Huffs)

[Karen] You two let me know

if you need anything else for this one.

It's one we need done right?

Of course. (Sighs)

(Frank exhales sharply)

(gentle suspense music)

(car humming)

(gentle suspense music continues)

(phone ringing)

Hey, are you mad I asked

you to help me out on this?

It's a little odd given

the circumstances,

don't you think?

I wanted the best man

for the job. And that's you.

(Frank huffs)

Thank you. Appreciate that.

Mm-hmm.

(phone ringing)

(footsteps pattering)

(coffee machine whirring)

(Frank exhales sharply)

No, no, no. Wait,

Frank. Frank, don't leave.

I just wanted to talk to you for a second.

I know we're a touch behind,

but we can make it up over the weekend.

Uh, yeah, this isn't

about the project, Frank.

(Frank sniffs)

I just wanted to say I'm

really sorry for everything.

I shouldn't have tried

to take advantage of you

and get you to fall in love with me.

You didn't take advantage of me.

I'm just not into you like that.

I thought we were greatest friends, though.

No, I know, me too.

Sorry, I ruined it for the both of us.

(Frank huffs)

Don't beat yourself up over it.

Maybe we can get back there, just friends.

Yeah, I'd like that.

(Anne sighs)

- Me too.

Oh, awkward. (Frank chuckles)

Now that that's over with,

what are we getting

about that accounting error?

Right?

(bag thuds)

(tense dramatic music)

Oh God! Got me again.

(both chuckling)

Well, sorry, I should

put a bell around my neck

just so you could hear me coming.

Great.

Well, anyways, I was

thinking I could return the favor

and cook for you this weekend.

No, you don't, you don't have to do that.

I want to. I may not be

as good as you, but I'll try.

(Frank chuckles)

I was thinking we could go to your house,

and if it looks like I need

help, you could step in.

Okay, sure. Yeah, let's

see what kitchen skills you got.

Uh, Saturday night okay?

Perfect.

Great. See you then.

Yeah.

(gentle suspense music)

(traffic humming)

(paper rustling)

(cabinet thuds)

So what's on the menu for tomorrow night?

Uh, still got a couple things

floating around in my head,

but probably end up going

with my signature dish.

Which is?

A surprise.

No allergies, right?

I try to stay away from

pork unless it's bacon, but.

Uh, no pork, I promise.

(Both chuckle)

Can I walk you out?

I'd be honored.

(Anne chuckles)

Is that a new bag?

[Anne] Yeah.

- Yeah, I like that.

- Thanks for noticing.

[Frank] Yeah.

(Anne sighs)

(wine gurgling)

Want some wine?

[Frank] Ooh, yeah! That sounds great.

[Anne] Here.

Thanks. (Anne chuckles)

Cheers.

Cheers.

(glasses clink)

It's really good, drink up.

All right, I might use some of that salt.

Can I grab some of that.

- Yeah, sure go ahead.

[Frank] Thanks. (Anne chuckles)

It smells good!

Yeah, can you just help

me out for a second over here?

Yeah. What's, what's going on? Whoa!

You wanna take this?

And I'll get that?

- Yeah, yeah, sounds good.

Thank you.

Just keep drinking 'cause it's really good.

All right, I can do that. (Anne chuckles)

Oh, thank you.

(both chuckle)

You know what my

nickname was in high school?

What's that?

Animal. (Chuckles)

Again.

- Again. That's good.

- Mm-hmm.

That's good.

So I heard they might audit us.

Uh, yeah, I heard they might be looking

to sell the company.

[Anne] Really?

Mm.

(gentle suspense music)

[Anne] You okay?

(Frank breathes deeply)

It's um...

(fork clattering)

Want me to call for help, Frank?

I don't, I don't feel good.

- I'm just gonna go.

- Okay.

Frank, do you want me

- to call someone?

- Wait a second.

(Frank thumps and grunts)

Well, that took longer than I thought.

Way to stick the landing, Frankie boy.

(ambient creepy music)

(fork clatters)

(Anne humming)

(ambient creepy music continues)

Hi, I finally get to touch you. (Chuckles)

Still pumping?

(ambient creepy music continues)

(Anne humming)

(Anne giggling)

(phone buzzing and chiming)

Oh my God, seriously?

(ambient creepy music continues)

Mom! I'm on a date right now.

(ambient creepy music continues)

Very important date. Love of my life.

(ambient creepy music continues)

[Frank] What did you give me?

Frank, Frank, Frank, Frank, Frank.

Go back to sleep. Go sleepy, Frank.

(Frank thumps) There you go.

There you go. You're okay.

All I wanted was for you to love me, Frank.

But your obsession

with that dead b*tch Olivia was exhausting.

(Anne sighs)

Finally, we can get to know each other.

Mm, where's my knife?

(ambient creepy music continues)

(knife clinks)

Okay.

(knife thwacks) (intense dramatic music)

(blood squelching)

(knife clanking)

(intense sinister music)

(heart sizzling) (Anne humming)

(ambient creepy music continues)

(lips smacking)

Mm.

(Anne continues humming)

(heart continues sizzling)

(intense sinister music continues)

(Kitchen utensil clacking)

(spices crunching)

(intense sinister music continues)

(heart continues sizzling)

Frank, it didn't have to be like this.

All I wanted was your heart,

but you didn't wanna give it to me,

so just had to take it from you.

(intense sinister music continues)

Oh,

(cutlery clinks)

Frank.

It's the best one yet.

(intense sinister music continues)

Rejection, we've all been there,

and it's never fun,

especially when matters

of the heart are concerned,

no pun intended, it can get even uglier.

And for Anne,

it was just enough to push

her off the edge of sanity.

Her obsession drove her to drive a knife

through Frank's chest

And she made sure

that no one could have

Frank's heart if she couldn't.
