And, and it just took off.

And then a few months after
that,

we got pregnant with our

I was struggling with
a drug addiction.

I had no friends left,

my family pretty much didn't
wanna be around me.

I lost my job.

I prayed, and somehow I got,

help,

and I went to rehab.

I wanna commend you on you
kind of making that decision,

because I work a program,
I have a sponsor.

-I know exactly how that goes.

Giselle walked into my life like
three years into my sobriety.

I had gotten sober,
I had Giselle,

I had a great job.

I met her family, we'd hang out.

I was friends with her friends.

And then I had my daughter
with Giselle,

and that's when everything
just started changing.

The trust issues started
happening.

There were trust issues?

Were those on Giselle's end?

Exactly, yeah.

I wasn't able to go to
my meetings.

And just, like, the fights
started piling up,

and it was just a huge stressor.

You couldn't go to your
meetings.

What does that,
what does that mean?

Like, leaving and comin' home
almost caused more of a fight

than if I just didn't go to
the meeting at all.

[Travis] Now...

Giselle obviously knows,
you know, your history.

Right, with what you've been
through and addiction.

Is she thinking that,
that you were going out and,

and you were using again?

Like, what, what did those
look like?

Not using, but just cheating
or, you know,

goin' to meetings and
meetin' people, and...

And goin' there to hang out
with friends,

in her words.

And if I'm not home in time,
like, she's, she'd be like,

"Why are you a half hour late?"

Like, you know, "You said you
would be home at seven."

And it'd be like, 7:30,
it's not like I was at a bar.

You know?

It started takin' a toll on
my sobriety.

I wasn't gettin' to meetings,
I wasn't workin' steps,

and it was one of those
decisions I had to make.

If I stayed in that environment
with the stress, like,

am I going to make it?

And I didn't think I was,
so I left.

Wow.

I can't imagine what
Giselle was goin' through.

Leavin' her with
the eight week old...

You know, is, is somethin'
I still feel horrible about.

But I was scared to trap myself
in that situation

where I would go back out and
use again.

If I start using again,
I can't be the dad I wanna be.

I can't be anything to anybody.

She was under a lot of stress
too,

-havin' the newborn baby, and...
-Yeah.

I didn't man up and, like,
have that

that talk that we should've had,

and I think that's what's led to
where we're at today.

[Rahne] Sure.

What was the dynamic like
between you and Giselle?

When I came back,
everything changed.

She no longer invited me to

hang out with her friends,
family.

On her social media,
I'm blocked.

I, I can't see anything.

Before, I was her profile pic,
and now I'm not even her friend.

concerns,

and if you have, like, what are
the excuses that she gives?

Every time I bring it up,
she shuts me down

and projects it back onto me.

But we're all human,
and we make mistakes,

I talk to more than friends that
I've had for,

It's the honesty, that is
facilitated in these rooms

where really, you can't talk
about it anywhere else.

Only another alcoholic or addict
would understand.

And no judgement, right?

But you know, I see her
at meetings.

She's always rootin' for him,
so, you know.

And I know that Gary would do
anything for her,

and I know vice versa.

So, to me, that's what's more
surprising about the situation.

is that she has this new

and they said that she was so
supportive that

she would go to meetings
with you.

But you distanced yourself,
you wouldn't talk to her,

and pretend like she almost
didn't exist.

involved with somebody

who is also going to
these meetings.

Well...

we were still livin' together,
we were still co-parenting.

And it was still very,
very shaky after the show.

digging into your life was to
figure out

why Giselle was hiding you.

Did you ever figure out

what that reason was on,
on your own?

Yeah, I'm really grateful that
I met you guys.

It brought a lot of clarity
on, on the situation

with Giselle and I.

Me leavin' and comin' back
so many times

kinda broke that trust.

Just, like, we never reconnectd
and worked on that enough

to where we could, you know,

show up to each other's
families,

to have our friends meet
