of the Masters Eight Tournament semifinals

features Cynthia, the Sinnoh Champion

versus Ash, the first Alola Champion,
in a six-on-six Full Battle.

For his first Pokémon,
Ash chose Dragonite,

but it couldn't keep up
with Cynthia's tactic

of switching out Pokémon,
and it was defeated.

And soon after, Gengar went down as well.

With his ace, Pikachu,
Ash held onto the hope of a comeback.

However,

because of Spiritomb's Destiny Bond,

Pikachu was unexpectedly eliminated.

Next, with counterattacks
from Dracovish and Sirfetch'd,

Roserade and Milotic
were forced out of the match.

At this point, Ash is left
with only one Pokémon, Lucario.

And with that, Cynthia makes her call...

Togekiss! Soar with wide wings!

Now, Dynamax, let's go!

[suspenseful music]

Togekiss.

[soft gasp]

Pi... ka.

[growls]

[announcer] Look! It's Dynamax Togekiss!

With its wings spread out
the way they are,

Togekiss appears to take up
most of the b*ttlefield!

What a surprise!

Who'd have guessed
that Cynthia would use Dynamax?

[Jessie quivers]
Big smile puts its creep factor way up!

Now that Pikachu is out of the match,
who will take it down?

is feeling the effects
of Max Airstream's speed boost!

Garchomp took quite a bit of damage.

While Mega Lucario has seen
battle after battle,

they're in similar shape.

Looking at Ash brings back memories

of all the wonderful times
that you and I had together.

We actually battled
against Cynthia and won!

He's gonna battle Lee in the finals!

[Goh and Hop] It's gonna be
the most incredible thing ever!

That little Twerp won!

Defeating both the Hoenn
and Sinnoh Champions means one thing.
