the exact form of Jonas Vingegaard.

is fighting to avoid being knocked off

the podium by his
former teammate, Primož Roglič.

being back in the bunch was really scary.

It was quite some time for me
to trust my… my bike again.

have to do to get back physically.

You go to the physio, and you have
good people around you who support you,

and mentally it's something you have to,
in the end, solve yourself.

-And that's way, way more complicated.

it was quite a question mark

if we would make it or… or not.

I also had a hard crash.

We had such a rough season
with so many bad luck and injuries

that it's, uh…
a miracle that we are still here.

So, now, it will be

I'm really happy to be here again
to help Jonas.

I think, on the long term,
you're still worried a bit,

like, "Do I get ever
back on my good level?"

For sure, struggling a bit
with these questions sometimes, but…

The timing of our crashes
was so close to each other that,

at least I felt like, we're both
in the same situation a bit and…

Yeah, I have to say that
it felt supportive that we…

we had the same struggles
coming into the Tour.

to talk with and to… Yeah.

Yeah, it felt good to have
someone going through the same…

same sh*t.

Before the Tour, we believed
that I still had a chance

of fighting for the victory, at least.

But now I'm not really so optimistic.

I'm just going to take it day by day,

and we'll see what happens.

But I think I also lost
a bit of muscle on the legs.

it's really frustrating.

We had a lot of bad luck.

But on the other hand, it's also
just something you have to cope with.

We need to win races
because that's what our sponsors pay for.

So, uh, that's what we're here for.

Big brands want to see their cyclists
winning races in their kits.

And without the sponsors' money,

we don't have a team.

But, uh…
it is very, very complicated this year.

After the crash,
Jonas is not in his best ever shape,

and also this year,

Primož Roglič,
one of our best riders, left us.

So, we have no plan B.

With Jonas, right before the Tour,

obviously, he had a really big,
serious crash.

Maybe we are seeing a fragile,
scared, Jonas Vingegaard.

But, you know, for your own mind, you say,
"Well, look, there's opportunities".

Because if there's anything that
Primož does not really feel, it's fear.

Can you tell us more about how to

beat those three candidates above you?

Have the strongest legs.
That's for sure the key.

It's just pushing, I mean,
to the limit, all the time.

Tomorrow is one of the hardest stages,
and we have more of those to come,

but he has shown super strength,
and he is here to win.

So far, out of the big four,

only Tadej Pogačar and Remco Evenepoel

have stage wins under their belt.

If Jonas Vingegaard or Primož Roglič

are to really stand a chance
of challenging for that yellow jersey,

they need to start crossing the line ahead
of the other two frontrunners.

The climbs are steep, they're sharp.

The descents are twisty,

they're fraught with danger,

Main goal for today, a GC day.

Jonas stays with Pogačar.

It will be a very hard stage,

so one thing to be clear,
from the second-last line,

we want to have somebody with Jonas
really, really in the final, huh?

The best stages for him

are always the… the long,
hard mountain stages.

We hope we will achieve some things here,

but we know that physically,

Jonas is not on the level
he had, uh, 12 months ago.

[Vingegaard] I'll try to communicate
how I feel as well,

and how the stress,
if it gets to me or not.

Like, if I get scared,

then really try to get me to focus again.

I think that's how I get out of it.

I'm third and he's fourth.

We've been racing together for five years,

and then to be the opponent
rather than teammates,

So, it's now a tight battle.

So I think today is
gonna be pretty intense. Erm…

Nothing really easy about it.

It's just nasty.

And you know what it gets like.
Hanging on, hanging in there.

You know, like, Primož, for sure,
you want to save at the start.

In the ideal scenario,
if the legs are there,

if you can gap Jonas by five seconds,

with the 11-kilometre downhill,

it would be our first prize of the day.

Because like what
we have seen on Galibier,

their descending is still limited.

I would think with that shape,
it's doable.

Jonas Vingegaard is

The big victim of the day
was Primož Roglič, who lost a lot of time.

it's been a struggle.

Definitely not an easy situation to start,

but yeah, in the end, I think
all of us were even more proud of Jonas.

I can say for us it feels like the season,

And especially, I think it's a big blow
for Primož as an athlete,

when, uh, I think he showed
a great fighting spirit

when he was
really taking it on with Vingegaard,

and was giving everything.

And a day later,
everything looks completely upside down.

I have on my back part,

so, yeah, we took a decision all together.

Obviously, I, uh… I don't feel good.

And, uh, yeah, need to move on.

I still feel it, that's for sure,

as good a fight as possible.
