Waneek:
Here we go!
Nikki vo:
We've turned canada into one...
Let's go!
Nikki vo:
Giant...
Come on o!
Nikki vo:
Obstacle course.
[cheering]
Nikki vo:
Teams of canadians,
Coached by legendary
sports heroes
Are facing off on the
most incredible physical
And mental challenges
across our country.
You got it.
Craig vo:
In our thrilling first round,
Coach waneek's warriors
were dominant.
Go em!
[cheering]
Craig vo:
And team gilmore...
Let 'em go juls!
Craig vo:
Soared above the competition.
[cheering]
Craig vo:
They were only seconds apart
in our first two challenges...
[groaning]
[cheering]
Craig vo:
And are now tied
Atop the
leaderboard.
Nikki vo:
But team clara had
a devastating start
When cheerleader mitchell
Couldn't get over the
very first obstacle.
I didn't come here for this.
- It's okay, it's okay.
Craig vo:
And super bowl champ,
coach luke,
Made a costly error
putting the wrong player
On the high rope.
I made some
mistakes as a coach.
Nikki vo:
And now as the competition
moves to hinton, alberta,
Three more extraordinary
obstacles await.
Can teams waneek and
gilmore continue to roll
Or can the other teams rise
to the challenges ahead?
Catch the orange team!
Nikki vo:
Canada's ultimate challenge
starts right now.
Vinny:
Let's go!
[energetic music]
[tense dramatic music]
Craig vo:
An hour north of jasper,
Hinton is known
as the gateway
To the northern alberta rockies
And the traditional lands of
the aseniwuche winewak nation.
Glacial-rolling farmland
and dense forests all collide
To make this the perfect
location for the next stop
On our cross-country
obstacle course.
[teams chanting]
Waneek:
I take every
single competition
Like I wanna
win the gold
of that.
We're here to rock and roll.
[in unison] team sunrise!
[in unison] red!
Who's crew?
Hughes' crew.
Clara:
The champion that lives in
each and every one of us,
We're going to
find that person
In each and every
one of them.
Craig vo:
As the teams
arrive in hinton,
Coach luke is sitting at the
bottom of the leaderboard.
He's looking to stir things
up by any means necessary.
Come on now!
It's go time!
I don't think
people are ready
For what I'm
gonna bring to
this competition.
There's six coaches here,
Five of them are olympians.
I came up in a very
different atmosphere.
I'm gonna be
extremely high energy.
Come on now!
Very loud.
Kish, you cold?
You look a little cold.
I'm not cold, bro.
And I'm hoping to make
other coaches uncomfortable.
Whose got the
ammonium inhalants?
You can't afford to lose
any of those brain cells.
Hey, I can't argue
with that waneek.
I wanna make the coaches
question their own philosophies
And I think if I can
win that mental game,
It's a big advantage for me.
Showtime!
Nikki:
Welcome teams and coaches
to wild rose country.
As you may have noticed,
Team kish is
down two players
Who tested positive
for covid-19.
Kish:
That's devastating
for a team.
There's only two
players left.
There's not a lot
to choose from
And so the coaching tactics
have to change because of that.
Behind me is the longest
river in alberta,
The mighty athabasca.
This 1200 kilometre tributary
Was an important part
Of canada's first
transcontinental trade route,
But they couldn't always
traverse the river.
In winter, traders often would
stash supplies on the riverbank
Until spring when it
was safe to move them.
That's exactly what two players
from each team will be doing
In our first ever
tandem challenge.
Nikki:
This is canada's ultimate
river raft supply dash.
[high tensity music]
Craig vo:
In an inlet of
the athabasca
There are four areas where
we've stashed 24 supply caches.
Two players from each team
must launch their boat
Onto the freezing waters,
Locate and retrieve
the four supply caches
Stamped with their
team colour.
Any caches they miss
Will result in a crushing
90 second time penalty.
Once they strategically pack
their caches into their boat,
They must paddle from the inlet
onto the fast moving river.
Each tandem must
transport their caches
To the final landing spot
And hit the big red
button to stop the clock.
The fastest team wins
the most points.
Coaches, it's strategy time.
You have five minutes to
decide which two players
You think have what it takes
To collect your team's
caches and paddle down
The fierce athabasca.
The clock starts now.
Gilmore:
The keys are gonna be
Some strength
for the paddling
'cause it's gonna
be about speed.
It's all me baby.
-Yeah.
So we're gonna go obie,
and who wants to go with him?
I'm gonna go with obie.
-Okay.
Communication in the boat,
super clear.
Kish:
Obviously you guys
are the tandem.
Yeah.
You're gonna be
pulling the boat to
getting one thing.
You're gonna be going
around collecting
'cause you can carry
all that weight.
A huge part of my strategy
Is because I believe that
the two people that I pick
Are gonna figure this out
And understand what
their task is,
And they're gonna
get it done.
I don't feel that I
need to walk you through
Every single thing.
I think that chris and
lori crush this thing.
Get it done.
[cheering]
We got this.
-Yeah.
I'm picking cuddly
and victoria
Because I need
that upper body.
Victoria, do you know
more about steering?
Yeah? Okay.
You go in the front
for all the power,
You go in the back, okay?
Okay.
-I like that.
Yeah.
Alana,
You said you're
part of the water
rescue program.
This is gonna be
right up your alley.
You're rolling today.
Okay. Woo!
I'm very confident
doing this right now.
I operate watercrafts at work
As part of the water rescue at
the winnipeg fire department,
So I'm very comfortable
on the water.
Bradley swam the
english channel.
What haven't you
done on a river?
How do you feel about
this challenge?
Oh dude,
I got this challenge.
This is team blue's
challenge.
This is water.
We are the salmon
swimming up stream,
Except today,
We're going with the flow.
I don't know how how
big these caches are,
But I can definitely, like,
run through the woods
And run with a lot of weight,
so I can do this for sure.
Yeah?
-Oh yeah.
Okay. So, who is
feeling the water?
Yeah, I can do it.
I'm comfortable paddling.
-You feel comfortable?
Clara:
Jesse is just a grounding
calm for our team.
And skylar,
he's always energized
And she finds a calm for him.
I'm a mother of four
And I've recently
started pow wow dancing.
It's really high intensity,
But it's also spiritually
healing as well.
Whether you're a mom,
Whether you're a
woman in your forties,
Or you're indigenous,
Hopefully people look
and say if she did it,
Then they can do it too.
[chanting] salmon swimming.
Salmon swimming.
With the flow.
With the flow.
Who's crew?
-Hughes crew!
Nikki:
Coaches, time's up.
Send your tandems to
the starting line.
[cheering]
[high tensity music]
Craig vo:
Because they won the last
challenge in squamish,
Team donovan is up first.
Apparently the caches
are very easy to find,
So use your instinct.
It's game time!
[air horn blaring]
Come on.
Craig:
So a little bit
of a slower start.
Christian jumped in
a little bit early,
So they were kind
of grounded.
It's shallow so if you're
trying to get into your boat
And drag it along,
it's just not gonna work.
There's a cache right here.
Craig:
They've already found
their first supply cache.
Donovan:
Go, go, go!
Right, that's the one.
Oh, come on, lori.
Come on. Come on.
Let's go, right here.
Alright, lori, yeah, yeah.
Craig:
Lori muscling down that
second supply cache.
We're going left side?
Yeah, left side.
Just keep a straight line,
now let's go.
Stay with the boat,
stay with the boat, yeah.
We got it lori!
We got it, baby. Let's go!
Craig vo:
She's hauling those last two
caches back at the same time,
But it looks like
she's tiring out.
Donovan:
Alright, guys.
Come on team bailey.
Let's go!
Tell me when you think I
should start turning us.
Craig vo:
At nearly 12 minutes,
Chris and lori now have
to make the tough turn
From the calm inlet
To the fast flowing
athabasca river.
Help with that
steering, lori. Yep.
It takes a
tremendous amount
Of willpower
and strength
To be able to overcome this
force of mother nature.
Come on lori,
crush it.
Craig:
They're nearing
the finish line.
Team. Team.
[cheering]
Yes yes baby,
hit that thing.
[cheering]
Craig:
Clocking in at 16 minutes
and 13 seconds,
Chris and lori set
the time to beat.
Nikki:
Currently in first
place overall,
Team waneek is up next.
It's really important for us
to win this competition today
And keep the lead.
It's game time!
-Go, go, go!
Let's go guys!
Right here!
Right there,
right there.
Craig vo:
Team waneek locating
that first cache quickly.
Right here, right here,
right here. This one.
Craig:
A faster pace than
team donovan so far.
Right in the middle.
Get in, get in.
Right here. Right here.
Okay, you're good.
You're good.
[high tensity music]
Craig vo:
Victoria grabbing
the blue cache
And coach waneek
hasn't noticed.
That's gonna cost 'em
a 90 second penalty.
Okay, go.
Go, go, go.
Waneek:
That way, right there!
Craig vo:
Fitness trainer,
chris cuddly,
Sprints to the next
set of caches.
Waneek:
The next one's right
there, victoria!
Look up!
There's another
one over there.
There's another one?
Here. Row out there.
Meet me.
Victoria:
'kay.
Craig vo:
Cuddly has to go back
and get the last cache
Costing them time before
they take to the river.
Okay victoria,
let's go baby.
Right there.
Alright, remember,
Hug left, then go right.
Craig vo:
Victoria and cuddly are
on pace with team donovan,
But they have that
90 second time penalty.
Do they have the paddle
power to make up for it?
[grunting]
Keep going! Go!
[cheering]
Wooo!
Nikki:
Team waneek,
You managed to
recover four caches.
Unfortunately,
One of them
was not yours.
[waneek gasps]
So your team has
been assessed a
90 second penalty
That will be added
to your time.
Oh, man.
Oh no.
Victoria:
I could have prevented
that time penalty.
I think as a team
We're disappointed that
we're set back a little
After this loss.
Craig vo:
Team waneek's
cache mishap
Puts them behind
team donovan.
Team gilmore can take
sole possession of first
With a big performance
by obie and vinny.
I believe in you.
-Believe in you too, man.
Let's go, bruh.
It's game time!
[air horn blaring]
I'll find the caches.
First one here.
First one here.
Left, left, left, left, left!
Next one's over there.
Craig vo:
These guys are flying,
Grabbing their second cache
quicker than any team so far.
Gilmore:
One person on the boat.
Make sure.
Go.
Organize the caches.
Craig vo:
Third cache secured with the
fastest time we've seen yet.
Throw it in.
Okay, ready?
-Okay.
Craig vo:
The fourth is on
the same bank
But it seems like
no one's noticed.
Get her going, boys.
Get her going.
Craig vo:
They're taking off with
only three in the boat.
Hard right.
Chris:
Stay left, stay left.
Vinny:
Yeah, we got this.
Gilmore:
Let's go!
All the way!
Here! Quick!
Gilmore:
Let's go boys!
Come on, come on!
All the way! All the way!
Through the line!
Come on! Come on!
Hit that button!
-Yes!
Wooo!
Yesss!
Nikki:
Team gil,
90 seconds has been
added to your time,
'cause you only
recovered three caches.
But despite that mistake,
You're still in first place.
[cheering]
Craig vo:
Skylar and jesse from
team clara are up next.
Hughes crew!
Who's crew?
Hughes crew!
Craig vo:
They're currently in last place
on the overall leaderboard.
Can they deliver a big
run to pick up points?
I do have quite a bit of
experience on the water
Just growing up.
Done lots of paddling,
canoes, kayaks,
That sort of thing.
So, I'm gonna be
bringing that for sure.
You are so ready.
It's game time!
[air horn blaring]
Clara:
Let's go team! Let's go!
Come on jesse,
go, go, go.
Clara:
There it is.
Craig vo:
This is something
we haven't seen.
Skylar's scooping up the first
cache and continuing on land.
Now he's picked up
the second cache
Faster than any other team.
You got this!
Keep pushing, jesse.
Keep pushing.
Craig vo:
Skylar charging through the
water towards the third cache.
Clara:
Look how strong you are!
Look how fast you are!
Craig vo:
These two are k*lling it.
Skylar and jesse
are the fastest
At collecting all four
caches that we have seen yet.
Wanna hop in?
Jesse:
Yeah, get in.
You're salmon in that water!
Let the river take you!
Go with the flow!
Craig vo:
Jesse and skylar
are in first place
At the halfway mark.
Can they keep up the pace
And get a much needed
win for team clara?
Skylar:
There we go.
Great work, jesse!
[high tensity music]
Craig vo:
Jesse and skylar are trying
to pick up much needed points
For team clara in
river raft supply dash.
They're looking strong.
Skylar:
Come on.
A little faster.
[team cheering]
Clara:
Come on jesse!
Mitchell:
Come on. Come on.
[cheering]
You're so strong.
You're so strong.
[cheering]
Let's go!
Craig vo:
Jesse and skylar with
an incredible run,
Taking first place by
nearly three minutes.
That's gonna be tough to beat.
But...
-Let's go, guys.
Craig vo:
Dustin and rachel from
team kish are gonna try.
It's game time!
-Go, go, go, go, go!
In, in, in, in, in, in!
Craig vo:
Dustin and rachel split up.
Rachel takes the
boat in the water.
Dustin stays on shore.
He quickly grabs two caches
Faster than skylar
from team clara.
Kish:
Right over there! Cross!
Pull the boat.
They're doing
really, really good.
Dustin:
You go get the other one.
Come on dustin, move!
Craig vo:
Dustin and rachel
grabbing their fourth cache
With first place in reach.
Let's go!
Craig vo:
They're within striking distance
of the time set by team clara,
But it looks like they
aren't paddling in sync
And it's slowing them down.
Keep paddling that side.
Get that paddle deeper, babe.
Kish:
All the way. All the way.
Come on! Let's go!
You gotta bring
those packages up!
[cheering]
Come on rachel, push!
Craig vo:
Dustin and rachel
hit the button
With a time of 14 minutes
and 43 seconds.
That puts team kish in
a solid second place
With only team luke
left to compete.
Kish:
Oh my god.
Believe in yourselves,
trust each other,
Go get this done.
Let's go!
-Let's go do this!
Alana:
Finishing at the bottom
of the last challenge,
We need this boost.
We need to get up
in the standings.
It's game time!
[air horn blaring]
Okay, stop, stop,
stop, stop.
I see a couple of
the caches already,
So I just start bolting
down the trail.
Luke:
He's grabbing his second one.
We're good.
Oh, no, no, no, wrong...No!
Alana:
The wrong colour!
Get the right colour.
Picked the wrong one
but we're good now.
Hey, on the left,
on the left!
Both of them!
Make sure you pick
up the black one.
Bradley:
Yeah, I got another.
Luke:
Go, good, good!
Craig vo:
Alana heading for
the last two caches
At a pretty close pace to the
top time set by team clara.
Luke:
Good!
Hey, finish the job!
Work together!
Craig vo:
To catch team clara,
Bradley and alana
Are going to have to
paddle to the finish
In under two minutes
But it looks like
alana is struggling.
Bradley:
Just keep pushing.
Alana:
My forearms were dying.
Like I literally couldn't
even feel myself gripping.
Luke:
Alana, keep it going!
Let's go!
[cheering]
Luke:
Last one!
Let's go, let's go,
let's go, let's go,
let's go!
[dramatic music]
Nikki vo:
Bradley and alana's
time lands them in third,
Team luke's best
finish yet,
But it's jesse
and skylar for
team clara
Who deliver a
huge first
place finish
And six much
needed points.
[cheering]
[dramatic music]
Skylar:
I love winning
And it feels so good to get
that number one on the board.
We are so proud of you!
We've accomplished
what we set out to do,
Which feels amazing.
Craig vo:
Team gilmore is now in sole
possession of first place.
Team waneek's mistake drops
them into a tie for second
With team kish
And team clara's win moves
them out of last place.
Clara:
I'm so proud of team blue.
I witnessed teamwork,
communication.
It was brilliant.
Skylar:
Who's crew?
[in unison] hughes crew!
[shouting]
[dramatic music]
Craig vo:
Up next, teams go way up,
Putting their climbing and
balance skills to the test.
[high tensity music]
That's a big tree.
[high tensity music]
[train whistle blaring]
[cheering]
Craig vo:
Welcome back to canada's
ultimate challenge.
It's the next stop
in the second round.
Our teams are back on the
banks of the athabasca river.
But now they're moving
out of the water
And into the treetops.
Nikki:
Welcome teams and coaches.
As the gateway to
alberta's northern rockies,
The wilderness that
surrounds hinton
Boasts spectacular trails
And pristine,
untapped alpine forests.
What better way to see
this breathtaking place
Than by climbing
these majestic trees
In this solo challenge.
Kish:
Let's go. Let's go.
Let's go baby.
Kish:
Who's coming up
with this [beep]?
Because
it's wild.
It is so wild.
Craig vo:
Welcome to canada's ultimate
towering tree challenge!
[cheers and applause]
[upbeat music]
Nikki vo:
In this solo challenge,
One player from each team must
use their upper body strength
To climb 100 feet
up this tree.
Then they have to
calm their nerves,
Transfer to the thin and
very flexible slackline
And summon their balance
and core strength
To cross 200 feet
to ring the bell.
The fastest player brings
home the most points
For their team.
Coaches, it's strategy time.
You now have five minutes
to select which solo player
You think has
the best balance
And nerves to compete
in the treetops.
You cannot use a solo
player who has competed
In a previous solo challenge.
Your clock starts now.
Okay, so who's
afraid of heights?
You're gonna do it.
Let's go!
Just kidding.
So dustin,
that leaves you.
I think-I think if you were
to put your feet like this...
Rachel:
Oh.
Kish:
Sideways,
opposed to straight,
You're gonna cover
more ground.
Waneek:
I think this requires some
good upper body strength.
My gut says vic. Yeah.
Obviously zalie
you did your solo
So it's between
the three of you.
Heights is not...
Like that's my
probably weak point.
We've all seen me
climb already
So this is all you.
[laughing]
All you.
Clara:
The tree is a good
metaphor for going up
And our team
motto is it goes
up from here.
We go up from here.
Just look ahead.
Look where you're going.
Trust your feet.
Donovan:
Dil, what are your
thoughts on climbing?
I like climbing.
-On mountain climbing?
Yeah, climbing,
rock climbing.
You're up.
Donovan:
She's the lightest
And I think that
she'll have
incredible balance
Going across
the tightrope.
Luke:
Devon, I do think it's gonna
be a nice upper body pull
And I know you said that
you like doing chin ups,
You're a good pull-up person.
I feel like this is
right up your alley.
Devon:
Okay, I'm terrified
But my whole life is literally
about getting uncomfortable
And taking those lessons
and growing from it.
Vinny:
Me and meaux are, like,
pretty much on a weekly basis,
We go bouldering.
Okay.
So it's something I'm used to
or I'm comfortable with it.
Gilmore:
Okay. Meaux...
I'm a boulderer.
I'm a climber.
I don't mind the climb.
I don't mind the slackline.
I'm not afraid of heights.
Gilmore:
I'm leaning towards meaux.
I think there's gonna
be more challenges
Maybe suited for
you in the future-
I'm just saying that I'm
really used to calisthenics.
I know how to manipulate
my body quite easily.
My votes on meaux but
I want you guys to-
Vinny:
I hate to be that guy,
but I want it.
I feel like you want this
more than I do but I mean...
Vinny:
I want it. I want it.
Okay, vinny really
wants this one.
Make me feel bad now.
No, it's okay. It's okay.
I really wanted to do it.
I-I know my skillset,
But I also haven't
done anything yet
Other than our
team challenge.
So I need more faith
from my teammates.
Luke:
So it's our second
solo challenge
And I'm playing
some mental games.
Kish down a couple players
So I'm gonna maybe prod
and poke a little bit
And see if I can get in
a couple people's heads.
Go in last place
where you belong.
You know what's tough,
Is when you come out when
you have a great performance,
And you're a little drained
and you're a little tired,
Then you gotta wake
up and do it again.
No, that's what I
was built for.
I love it.
-It's what I was built for.
Anyone can have one
good performance.
Kish:
So are you telling me-
We're waiting for
you to have yours.
Ahhhhhhh. Yo
-no, see, we're crescendoing.
Kish:
I know luke is
highly competitive
But you talk the talk,
you gotta walk the walk.
Craig:
Coaches, time is up.
Please send your solo players
to the base of the tree.
[cheering]
[high tensity music]
Dustin:
That's a big tree.
Devon:
My legs are shaking.
I feel those
butterflies in
my stomach.
Skylar, you're up first.
[cheering]
It's gonna be a
lot of upper
body strength
I'm assuming,
And that's kind
of my forte.
Nikki:
Skylar from team clara,
Ready to climb the pine tree.
Craig:
Coach clara are you ready?
Ready.
Skylar, are you ready?
-Ready.
It's game time!
[air horn blaring]
[contestants shouting]
Nikki vo:
Skylar using the strength
in his arms and legs
To quickly pull
himself up the tree.
Look at you go up that tree!
You're so strong!
You're so smooth!
One step at a time, buddy!
[contestants shouting]
Skylar making his way
across the slackline
Will now have to shift
his focus to balance.
Activate your core!
Skylar:
When it comes to heights,
Half of me is thinking,
This is great
And then the other
half is saying,
Why are you up
here right now?
You got this!
Keep that core tight!
Keep looking forward!
Keep looking forward!
Nikki:
You can see the care
that skylar is taking
With each and every step.
His quads just popping out.
Skylar:
Of course your instinct
is to look down,
But just keeping
it straight ahead
And feeling the line
instead of seeing it,
It just it brought calmness.
Look at you go!
Okay, quiet guys,
quiet! Quiet!
[bell ringing]
[cheering]
Nikki vo:
Skylar with a great
time of 1:51.
That's gonna be
tough to beat.
[cheering]
Nikki vo:
Dilpreet from
team donovan is up next.
Yeah, yeah!
It's game time!
[air horn blaring]
[cheering]
[suspenseful music]
Dilpreet is a fitness and
bodybuilder competitor
Using that upper body
strength right now.
Really coming in handy
As she makes her way
up this massive tree.
Donovan:
That's it.
Let's go!
Nikki vo:
Now she's side-shuffling
across the slackline.
She's fighting to stay upright
and taking baby side steps
As opposed to going one
foot in front of the other
Like skylar.
Steady does it.
That's fine.
Nikki vo:
Not moving fast enough.
[bell ringing]
[contestants shouting]
Nikki vo:
A disappointing
run from dilpreet.
She's more than
30 seconds slower
than skylar.
Team waneek,
victoria, you're up.
[high tensity music]
[cheering]
It's game time!
[air horn blaring]
[cheering]
Up! Up!
-Keep going!
Victoria:
I was pretty upset
about the outcome
Of the last challenge.
It was really hard to just
deal with how it went.
So I'm fired
up right now
And I have some
redemption to do today.
Keeping calm.
Keeping calm.
Nikki vo:
Victoria, stepping
carefully on the slackline.
Oh, struggling
with her balance.
Nice recovery.
Now she's moving
side-to-side like dilpreet.
You've got your groove!
Nikki vo:
But she's doing
it much better.
[bell ringing]
[cheering]
Nikki vo:
Victoria finishes with
a time of two minutes,
Putting her in second place.
Victoria:
I think today I
made my team proud,
Made myself proud.
Let's go!
Nikki vo:
Devon is up next
for team luke.
She's under a lot of pressure
As they're dead last
on the leaderboard.
It's game time!
[air horn blaring]
[cheering]
There it is.
I like it, yeah!
Nikki vo:
Oh, devon slips on a branch.
Woman:
Take your time.
Luke:
Go! Get those
feet on there.
Nikki vo:
Now she's moving much slower.
Devon:
You wanna go fast
but at the same time
You gotta think about
not falling back.
Nikki vo:
Devon is the slowest to
reach the slackline.
She's gotta move fast
to make up time now.
Luke:
Devon's really taking
her time with this.
A little shakey,
I'm getting a little nervous,
Clock's ticking.
[timer beeping]
[suspenseful music]
[bell ringing]
[cheering]
Nikki vo:
Devon finishes with
the slowest time yet.
Craig:
Vinny, you're up.
We believe in you.
Craig vo:
Coming up,
Vinny fought to take
on this solo challenge.
Now all the
pressure's on him
To defend his team's
top overall spot.
Gilmore:
Here we go!
It's your time now,
your time right now.
Nikki vo:
Vinny from team gilmore
Is getting ready to
defend his team's top spot
In the overall standings,
With skylar currently
holding the time to beat.
Vinny, are you ready?
-Yep.
It's game time!
Gilmore:
Let's go, vinny!
Come on! Come on!
Juls:
Let's go!
Quick, quick, quick, quick!
Gotta keep moving.
Let's go, vinny.
Explode up, explode up!
Let's go!
Vinny making some good
time climbing up the tree.
Now here we go onto
the slackline.
If he can keep
this pace up
Vinny's got a shot at
taking first place.
There we go.
Remember, move quickly.
Move quickly there.
Nikki vo:
Vinny activating those quads,
Activating those glutes.
Gilmore:
Keep momentum going.
Meaux:
If you slow down
you'll lose your balance.
Oh yes!
[loud acclamation]
Nikki vo:
Vinny, almost there.
Gil: Home stretch! Home stretch!
- Keep going! Keep going!
Keep going!
[bell ringing]
Nikki vo:
He kicks the bell
to beat skylar's
time by 20 seconds.
What a run!
He's in first place!
[cheering]
Christian:
You stepped up!
You wanted this!
You wanted this
and you showed up!
Nikki vo:
There's one final competitor
for this obstacle.
Team kish, dustin,
you're up now.
Let's go, buddy. Let's go.
-Let's go.
[cheering]
Kish:
I'm confident in dustin
doing the challenge
Because he
gets excited
For this type of adrenaline
junkie type stuff.
[high tensity music]
I think I've always
been competitive.
I was competitive from
a very young age.
I like to win.
[contestants shouting]
Dustin:
In the g*y dodgeball league,
I was asked not
to come back
Because I was
too competitive.
I know that there's
gonna be adversity
And I just want to
grow as a person
In my physical abilities,
My emotional abilities.
I think that that would
be really special.
It's game time!
[air horn blaring]
Go, dustin! Woo!
Kish:
Come on, buddy!
Tree, tree, tree!
Nikki vo:
Look at dustin,
He is flying up the tree.
Dustin, twenty seconds!
Keep going! Keep going! Yes!
Nikki vo:
Wow. Dustin making
his way up that tree.
To the slackline with
the fastest time yet.
Oh, he's determined
to take first place.
Oh, oh, oh, oh!
Oh!
Nikki vo:
He's struggling to
stay on the line.
You got this! You got this!
Kish:
Stand up straight, dustin.
Stand up straight.
Keep going, keep going.
You got this.
Kish:
You gotta take your time!
There you go!
Take your time!
Feet out! Toe out!
-Rachel: You're still good.
You're still good.
Kish:
There you go, toes out!
[high tensity music]
Yes, nice!
[high tensity music]
Nikki vo:
Oof, down again.
[dustin groaning]
[high tensity music]
Three seconds!
You're good! You're good!
[bell ringing]
[cheering]
Nikki vo:
That's a disappointing
fourth place finish
For dustin and
team kish.
Dustin:
Yeah, I was quite
hard on myself.
I was really the only one that
was, like, chaotic up there.
Kish:
He's embarrassed by
his performance.
I can see that clearly.
You're-you're safe
with me, okay?
And you will know what you're
worth at the end of this.
I promise you.
Dustin:
I think that jen is
going to help me a lot
In not being so
hard on myself.
She showed me a kind
of compassion, care
And love that I haven't
received in a really long time,
If ever.
Come here, come here,
come here.
You're okay. You're okay.
You're okay.
Craig vo:
After two
exhausting challenges
Team gilmore continues
to hold first place
On the ozempic
leaderboard.
Team clara has
pulled from six
All the way up to
a tie for third,
While team luke
falls
Even further behind
in last place.
[high tensity music]
Nikki vo:
And now our teams
are moving on
To their fifth challenge
And the final one
of this round.
Luke:
I do feel responsible
for where we're at.
I think I've just allowed an
environment that is too loose.
[high tensity music]
Gilmore:
Holy.
It is coming down now.
Coaches, players,
This is one of the oldest
working ranches in the area.
Welcome to
horseback adventure ranch.
Team kish,
because of covid-19,
You've held down the fort
with only two players.
That changes now!
Welcome back up players,
mina and louis!
[cheering]
Kish:
Welcome to the rodeo!
Louis:
Yeah, I'm a very calm person
So hopefully I'm gonna
bring that to the team,
And just bring
everyone together
And tie
everyone together
And be the heart and
soul of the team.
Farming and ranching are
ingrained in alberta's culture.
This is a working horse
and cattle ranch
That has been part of
hinton's heritage since 1908.
A ranch often requires many
hands to work together as a team
In order for it
to run smoothly.
Perfect inspiration for
today's team challenge.
Nikki:
You see those massive
bales of hay behind you?
Each one weighs
over 1,200 pounds.
Now usually they're moved
around using machinery.
Today, you guys are gonna
be using brute strength
To push those bad boys.
Welcome to canada's ultimate
roll in the hay.
[high tensity music]
Craig vo:
In this challenge, teamwork
and communication are key,
As all four players must
coordinate their strength
To push a 1,200 pound
bale of hay
Through this winding,
uneven and sloped course.
Along the course there are three
strategically placed gates.
Each gate that the team decides
to push their bale through
Takes 20 seconds off
their overall time.
Once teams roll their bale
completely through the course,
Their hard work
isn't over yet.
All four members of
the team must go up
And over that haystack to
hit the big red button.
The fastest team wins
the most points.
Coaches, it's strategy time.
You have five minutes
to prepare your team
For the most physically
demanding challenge
Of the competition yet.
The clock starts now.
Kish:
Alright, okay.
First, welcome
mina and louis.
'kay, it's amazing
to have full
strength team now.
Um, I want you to skip one
and two through the gates.
Don't hit them.
Just keep going and I want
you to hit the last gate.
These gates,
There's gonna be a lot of people
jocking around for them I think.
It might be strategic
In order to
pass that first
checkpoint
Because everyone's
gonna be gunning
for it.
I think we blast
out of the gate.
Clara:
That first gate,
what do you think?
If the path takes us,
we go for it.
If not, don't worry about.
Waneek:
I think I'm gonna put
kate in the middle
With em for that solid push.
You two on either side
helping with the steering.
We are here to
help each other.
We're here to
work as a team.
Chris, pick a side.
Dil, you're beside chris.
Okay.
Lori, you're beside dil.
You are on the other
end of wherever he's on.
I want chris and
franz to be
steering the bale
On each side
of the bale.
I think just communication
will be vital,
So whoever's on the outsides-
- extremely important.
If they think like we're
going another way, just yell.
When it comes to raw power,
we're not the strongest team.
And this is a
raw power event.
Y'all are gonna
have to dig deeper
Than you've probably ever,
Ever even imagined
you could go.
We all know our back's
against the wall here.
We're in dead last
place by a lot, okay?
Somebody's going to go
home in seven challenges.
You have to push through,
embrace the pain.
By the end of this thing
you should be blurred vision,
Like borderline blackout,
coughing up a lung.
Time's up!
Coaches, send your teams
to the starting line.
[cheering]
[high tensity music]
Luke:
We need to show up to
the start line possessed.
Today will be a big day and I
hope they show me something.
[high tensity music]
[high tensity music]
Coaches, are you ready?
Yep!
-Ready!
Nikki:
Players, are you ready?
[shouting affirmations]
Nikki:
It's game time!
[air horn blaring]
Let's go, guys!
[contestants shouting]
Go! Go!
-Watch out! Watch out!
Turn! Turn!
Keep going!
Keep going!
Right! Right!
Luke:
Talk to him, kenny!
Talk to him, kenny!
Good! Good!
Gilmore:
Let's go, orange!
Clear! Clear! Clear!
Team gilmore is in
the lead right now.
They look to be coming
towards this gate.
The first opportunity to
shave off twenty seconds
Of your overall time.
Safe! Safe.
It looks like
team luke is gaining
And they have the
inside position.
They might get through
the gate first.
Get outta the way!
Craig:
A bit of a log
jam at the back.
Gotta back up first.
Gotta back it up!
Gotta back it up!
Okay, straight! Straight!
Craig:
Coach gilmore
Opting out to not
hit the first gate.
Get it in there!
Get in there!
Let's go!
No breaks!
Now pivot it!
Now pivot it!
Craig vo:
Team luke takes 20 seconds
off their time with that gate.
Let's get in there!
Let's get in there!
Kish:
First one!
Push guys, push!
Right side, right side,
right side, guys!
Yeah dustin,
stay on the side!
[contestants shouting]
Donovan:
Turn it!
Craig vo:
Now team donovan takes
20 seconds off their time.
Go for the gate and
then pass them!
Push right, dustin!
Craig vo:
There's a traffic
jam at gate one
And currently
in last place,
Team waneek has fallen
off the course.
Come on!
There's no giving up!
Went right outta
the field of play
And then you
have to back up
And then you
have to start
going again.
And it's so hard to keep
focus when you're behind.
Gilmore:
You leave this 20 second gap,
They all hit the gates!
Hit this one!
Coach gilmore choosing to
attempt the second gate.
That means they'll be
able to cut off 20 seconds
From their overall time
if they pass through it.
Donovan:
Go lower! Go lower!
Go lower!
Franz, go lower!
Chris:
Why are you pushing?
Franz:
Turn it! Turn it!
Chris:
We're trying to.
You're pushing!
Craig vo:
Some communication
issues from team donovan.
They're trying to turn
the heavy hay bale,
But it sounds like
franz is pushing.
He should be pulling.
Gilmore:
Pull this.
Come on, come on!
There we go!
We got a hill here.
Okay, we're downhill!
Come on!
Speed! Go!
We need 20 seconds!
Come on!
Get through the gate!
Get it straight!
[contestants grunting]
Luke:
Straight, let's go!
Catch the orange team!
Start turning.
Get on your side.
Hey franz,
go behind the bale!
I wanted chris and franz,
The two strongest players
on each side of the bale.
[contestants shouting]
Donovan:
Let's go!
Go right past them now!
Hey, franz!
Franz started essentially
moving around trying to help
And trying to do
a lot of things,
Which reduced momentum
totally for us.
Hey...[sighs], man.
Catch 'em! Catch 'em!
Team gilmore is only
slightly ahead of team luke.
Team luke however,
has gone through two gates.
Will team gilmore
choose that third gate
Or will they go
for the finish?
Gilmore:
We need twenty seconds!
You guys gotta get the 20!
You guys gotta
get the 20 here!
You're gonna pass 'em.
Go, go, go!
Let's go for the gate.
Let's go for the gate, guys.
Okay.
Start turning!
Start turning!
They're going
for the gate.
We need the gap.
Come on!
All the gas, let's go!
All the gas.
Craig vo:
Team gilmore has just
gone through the third
And final gate.
Remember, they
skipped the first one
But they got two and three.
Team luke has now
chosen the third gate,
So they have gone
through all three gates
Meaning they get to take 60
seconds off their official time.
Remember, once you
cross that finish line,
You have to abandon
your hay bale,
Get up and over
the haystack
And touch the button.
Let's go there now.
Go right!
Go, go, go!
Right, right, right!
Right!
-Go!
You need twenty!
We need twenty!
All the way up!
Don't leave anyone behind!
Help out!
Help out if you need!
Luke:
All the way through!
All the way through!
No more!
[contestants shouting]
Luke:
It's good! Go!
Gilmore:
We need the gap!
Come on!
All the way!
All the way!
Together, let's go!
Let's go! Let's go!
Come on, twenty seconds!
Twenty seconds!
Hit that obie!
[cheering]
Craig:
Team gilmore is
up and over,
But team luke is
right behind them.
Remember, team luke has
a 20 second advantage
On team gilmore
So they can come
away with the win
If they can get all
four members over.
Luke:
Alana, get down!
Get down!
Okay.
Craig:
Team donovan in third
place currently.
They still need to
get all four members
Over the haystack as well.
Come on team red,
come on now!
Get it.
Devon, hit it!
And now we're back!
And just like that,
we're back.
Kenny, we're back.
Yeah! Yeah!
Donovan:
Come on in now, red!
Come on, come on,
come on, come on!
Donovan:
Come on in now!
Yeah!
Okay, you got it.
It's alright.
You gotta listen, man.
You gotta listen.
Communication.
Communication, guys.
Communication.
Where were you
supposed to be?
Right?
Dilpreet:
Stay on your side, man.
Franz:
I was yelling where
everyone to be.
They're mine, they're mine.
No, no, no, wait.
You don't...
You don't say that.
-No I know.
No [stammers] you
don't do that.
It is team kish,
team waneek and team clara
Still on the course.
Clara:
Come on you guys!
You got this!
Okay, go! Go!
Help me over!
Kish:
Get going! Yes!
Push her up!
Push her up!
Come on, boys! Let's go!
Good job, rach!
Good job dustin!
Rachel:
Come on, come on,
come on!
Everybody touch! Go!
Kish:
There you go.
[cheering]
Kish: Good job, guys!
-We got this!
Chris:
This is the thing buddy.
It all started with our team-
[unintelligible arguing]
No, I'm not talking-
I'm talking!
-You're not my coach!
Please. I'm talking.
This is a team!
Yeah, but you're not making-
you're not letting me talk.
No, because you're
interrupting me,
I was in the midpoint!
I'm kind of done with it,
all right?
It's not working
right now. Sorry.
Donovan:
Well, what's happening?
You going home?
No, I'm going over here.
Donovan:
Well, we're having
a conversation.
You ain't going nowhere.
No it's not a conversation.
-You ain't going nowhere!
That's how a team works.
You ain't going nowhere!
You ain't going nowhere
'cause if you're
going you just go!
[dramatic music]
Donovan:
Managing athletes is
absolutely not new to me.
I'm the anchor for the greatest
team in canadian history,
Our relay team.
And I personally
have to manage
All of those personalities
While they're all trying to beat
me in the 100 metres individual.
I don't want any
internal strife.
I do not want any
negative energy.
What I'm saying is that
if you guys can agree
That you could have done
something better out there.
Franz:
Yeah, I agree.
I shouldn't have
lost my temper.
I did.
I apologize for that.
It's sport,
heat of battle.
As a team collectively,
we have to do this
Because if you
lose as a team,
You go home as a team.
We're gonna just
put it behind us.
The goal is to come together
and find a way to win.
Waneek:
Go!
All the power in
the push together.
Craig vo:
Team waneek and team clara
are still on course
In a race to not
finish last.
Find it together.
-One, two, three.
Zalie!
Medic! Medic!
Medic!
[gentle music]
Hi. How you doing?
[gentle music]
I'm so sorry.
No, uh-uh.
Zalie:
Let's finish. Let's finish.
Clara:
Seeing zalie push herself
like this is terrifying,
But I'm also in awe.
Zalie is somebody who is
truly giving everything.
Your blood pressure's good.
Yay.
I think we just gotta
calm down a little.
We're gonna cross that
finish line, okay?
Medic:
Yeah, you can do it.
Zalie:
When I got up all I
wanted was to finish.
I want the team to finish
the challenge no matter what.
Nikki vo:
Even though they
hit the button...
[clapping]
Mitchell:
I love you guys.
Nikki vo:
Team clara did not push
their bale to the end.
So it's another
heartbreaking finish
As they fail to complete
their second team challenge.
Coaches, players,
We've tallied up the overall
times for roll in the hay.
After the gate deductions,
Only four seconds separated
the top two teams,
Luke and gilmore.
Woo hoo hoo hoo!
Craig:
In first place
earning six points...
[suspenseful music]
Team gilmore.
Yes, boy! Yes!
Yes! Yes!
Good job!
Gilmore:
To see how much effort
they're putting in,
You know, that's what I
was proud of the most
Is just seeing the effort,
seeing the passion,
Seeing them stick
to that game plan
And we all brought our
strengths together today.
Nikki:
After two rounds
of competition,
It's time to take a look at
the ozempic leaderboard.
In first place is
none other than
team gilmore
With 25 points.
And now tied for
fifth are teams
luke and clara.
Today I brought
nfl version of
coaching out.
A little more in your face,
a little more aggressive,
And, uh, my team
responded to that.
So, nfl mean guy in your
face coach might have to stay.
Nikki:
But remember...
There are only
two rounds left
Before the team with the lowest
score will be eliminated.
So every point counts.
See you in round three.
[clapping]
[high tensity music]
[high tensity music]
Craig vo:
Next time on
canada's ultimate challenge,
The competition heads
to the mighty yukon.
There we go! There we go!
Donovan:
Come on now!
Let's go!
Nikki vo:
Where the teams face
some of the most diverse
And unforgiving terrain
in the entire country.
Waneek:
Nice and light on your feet.
Light on your feet.
No! For [beep] sakes.
Craig vo:
And an incredible twist
changes everything.
We will shake things up.
[donovan gasps]
Craig vo:
We have places to go.
Nikki vo:
And obstacles to conquer on
canada's ultimate challenge.
Come on!
[cheering]
