I was very emotional,

really, on behalf of the kids
and the coaching staff,

that everybody said
that we couldn't do it.

point spread upset

in the sport this year.

than we've ever seen.

in the Associated Press poll

for the first time since 2020.

is basically transformation.

like Colorado from the dead.

when it was against all odds,

it was a phenomenal feeling.

It far surpassed
any personal accolades

I accomplished that

with a team that we established.

where African Americans
are not the majority

he symbolizes
a type of power and energy.

It has nothing to do with football.

When one Black person does well,
the entire population does well.

And I've learned the severity,
the serious nature of this rivalry.

Nebraska fans did find a way.

and tradition was really started

when Coach McCartney was here.

He made them a red-letter game.

You know, unfortunately, it went away

when Nebraska left for the Big Ten

and CU kind of disappeared
for a couple decades.

Now it's back.

[Ryan] This is the first home game
of the Coach Prime Era,

and you bring in the team

that Colorado fans
want to beat more than anything.

{\an8}You can't even wear red on campus.
Like, they take it that serious.

{\an8}Ooh. Red is my favorite color.

{\an8}Don't hold that against me,
but it is my favorite color.

Black and gold is my favorite color now.

It pays me.

[Ryan] As a transfer,
it's gotta be interesting

because you get here
and all of a sudden

everyone's telling you,
"Hey, you gotta hate Nebraska."

All these guys have no idea.

didn't come from Colorado,

That's where Coach Prime,
though, is so good.

He understands this stuff
at such a high level.

He gets it on every level,
to teach these guys, "Hey, this is real.

We have to take this
very, very seriously."

for like 15 plays, bro.

when we were getting the first down,

We lived to survive another down."

Nah, it was the last drive

when we was trying to close the game.

I was like, "Come on, bro,
we gotta get this first down."

[Shedeur] First game of the season,
I feel like the O-line,

we really understood each other out there
during the game at TCU.

It was our first time playing together

and really being in the foxhole
with the guys

and really understanding
I could count on this guy,

I could count on the guys around me,

I could count on the O-line
to be there for me.

I don't know who it was,
but he fell. It was a tackle.

{\an8}Oh, yeah, when Mikey broke that tackle?

{\an8}Yeah, when Mikey got that first down.

I said, "Mikey, I needed that, bro.
I needed it."

That's how I knew it was over with.

Like, when he got that first down,

I'm like, "Okay, yeah,
we're gonna beat them."

Hundred percent.

[Shedeur] As a team, I feel like
everybody believes in me now.

They see I'm able to do this
on a FBS level.

So, with the game this week,
all it is is game two for us.

I seen the pictures
from the last time Nebraska came here.

The stadiums were full of red.

They did so many great things against TCU,
but they did get gashed a little bit.

Nebraska, on the other hand,

in their first game,
and that was run the ball.

So, it's an easy answer.

you might win this game by a lot.

I mean, it was a sh**t-out,

{\an8}in all honesty, and that wasn't

and an average mentality.

that unbelievable athletic ability

He's always been gifted

or have money in your pocket or whatever,

I think the Colorado State coach,

actually, like, complimented Deion.

And then this morning we wake up
and we start to see

he came out and said something about Deion
rocking his hat and shades.

I said, "What I hear" is wonderful.

"I haven't met this gentleman," gentlemen,
so I'm giving him love,

"but I hear he's a good man,
I know he's a great coach."

This is what he says the next day.

When I talk to grown-ups,

That's what my mother taught me.

always find something to make it personal,

and it brings out the best in them.

This Buffs team, however,
has taken it to a new level.

Early in the year,
they were just the darlings.

This was the Cinderella story
of college football.

It was maybe a little hard
to make it personal,

but they found ways
because there were still doubters.

The irony in that
is that what this team does

is they take that
and they use it to fuel them.

So, the people who think that they're
gonna negatively affect this team

are actually helping them out.

[whistle blows]

We got a whole season left, full of wins.

a challenge on us up front

When he was born,
it was from day one,

His father has always been a believer.

he really wanted Jimmy to come to us

out of high school at Jackson,

but we promised his father
that we would look out for him.

and we would do the things

because he is a great father,

a great man that made a mistake in life.

It's a huge step up,
obviously, from last year.
