That's all we can do,
is just do the best we can, yeah.

Losing the first job

humbled us and
beat our egos down

a little bit,
so I think it's really important

for us to come away with a
win today just for team morale.

But we have to communicate,
we have

to make a plan, stick to it,

and assist each other
however ways we can.

- Hopefully, our best is better than their best.
- Yep.

And we got our
two welders in here,

so I think we got the advantage.

I want to win for the
lady in the middle seats.

Overtime sucked,

because I had to go
against my own teammate.

But even though Linnett's out
of the individual competition,

we're focused again,
and it's all about the team today.

We're all pushing for that.

I lost out on the individual.

I gave it all that I had...

and Young won.

It was disappointing,
but if I'm tough as nails,

the goal is to finish
strong as a team,

and to continue to do my best
to win money for my children.

Life goes on,
and this isn't the end of my story.

This is my territory.

I graduated
from automotive school,

I'm good at
dismantling car engine,

transmission,
all that stuff, so...

This is one of my
specialties. I do this every day.

Okay, everybody,

Got a lot of heavy

thousand Americans

working at recycling auto parts.

$25 billion industry. So
we figured maybe you

could lend your hand
at doing that today.

So let me tell you a little bit

about today's challenge.

The first team who can use
the tools laid out before you

to cut up a car,
move it into a box,

will win... quite
a bit of money.

I work at a metal recycling
company every day,

- with these tools.

it's all about planning
and working together,

rather than just
relying on pure strength.

I want to win
for Linnett today really bad,

especially after
she was eliminated

from the individual challenge.

Now the only source

of income for her

is from the team challenges,
so we want

to keep her spirit high.

That's so the reciprocating

My preferred
mode of transportation

is a... tractor.

I have not a lick of experience
working with any sort of cars.

I am extremely
nervous right now.

Lee delegates who does what.

Right away he gives me
the job of the tool man,

because I'm familiar
with these tools.

After I get the
tools put together,

we have people
starting on the hood.

I go into the doors. Callie's
working on the doors.

- Lee's starting on the top of the cab.
- Let's go.

I have never taken a car apart,
but in my trade,

which is scaffolding,

I use a lot of those tools.

You know,
I'm good with my hands.

- You good? - Yeah.

We know that
Lee has dismantled cars.

He knows how to do
this; he's got a strategy.

- Okay, Myles, get the windows.
- You got it.

They've divided up the work.

My role in today's job is...

finally being able
to break something.

In the fire department,

you hit the corner
of the windows,

'cause the whole
glass will shatter.

Once the windows are out,

we can start cutting.

Notice Young's technique.

Figure that Young knows
all about this as a fireman.

Look how cleanly Young
has got the glass out of his car.

- He's ahead right now.

use that grinder while
I put another one on.

And it's just
the windshield left for Young.

As a welder,
I have used a grinder,

so I am choosing the grinder

instead of the saw,

'cause I am comfortable with it,

but I need to put cutting
wheels on all of them,

because we're trying
to cut through the metal,

not trying to shine it up.

Whoa, whoa, watch yourself.

- Where's the power?
- Where's the other cord? -LEE: On the table.

Time to start cutting the cars.

Those grinders,
they take too much time.

Sawzall... That's
what I definitely need.

Myles, I need the grinder.

Savage Crew
strugglinga wee bit with the power cords,

- trying to get them untangled.
- No, there's no power.

But Lee is taking control,

cutting through that car
like a hot knife through butter,

so Dirty Hands
can remove the roof.

Oh, you can tell this man
knowshow to use a Sawzall.

- It should be on.
- The cables are becoming a problem.

My job was to
get those laid out.

I'm a little frustrated.

I might be costing my team time.

- Plug it. - It's so tangled.

It doesn't fit. It doesn't fit.

My team has a lot of type A's,

which can be a good thing,
and also a really bad thing.

And I think for the
railroad challenge,

it hindered us.

So if we communicate and we
can bring our teamwork together,

we'll be unstoppable.

Oh,
you can smell burning metal right now.

If I had to pick it,
I would say that

- Savage Crew is ahead.

All right, we got a hood off.

Looks like the first
piece is going in the bin.

I'm seeing the team

that I was excited about
when we first came together.

- Back up.
- Danny's being a great support to Lee right now,

we're really working as a team

and everybody's
carrying their weight.

while Dirty Hands
working on the hood.

Linda gets the hood in,

look at that car just disappearing

in the blink of an eye!

Lee's plan is
beginning to pay off.

I'm working on
the passenger side rear door.

But then, all of a sudden,

we start stepping
on the power cords.

Power tools are
coming disconnected.

It's starting to become
a little bit panicky

because instead of worrying
about what we're doing,

we're worrying about
the other team's progress

and how fast they're moving.

It's costing my team time,

and none of us
can afford to lose.

- Watch out, Michelle, Michelle.

we got to take a car apart.

Linnett's our crew boss,
but she's a little quiet.

They're getting
outthe jacks to roll over the car,

I'm just not sure that
the way that they're

one of my first skills.

- I was a machinist, and then I went to roofing.

I like Lee. He
has a good work ethic.

He's 61 years old,
but he works very hard.

I'm glad I got the
opportunity to get to know Lee

a little bit better.

And what about you, Murph?

I was a Marine for 22 years.

- What did the Marines teach
you?-I guess the biggest challenges

happened real
early in my career.

I worked on helicopter
night maintenance.

So we worked till the aircraft

were ready for the next
day's flight schedule.

When I was coming to work,
some of my friends met me outside,

said, "Hey, Murph,
the aircraft crashed,

um, about two hours ago
and k*lled all four people."

Wow. Ah, man.

The first thing that
goes through my mind is,

"Man, is what I did... did that
cause that aircraft to crash?"

Turned out that it was
not due to maintenance,

but two of my friends
were on that aircraft.

Facing the loss of life,
or the loss of a friend that early,

like,
it-it makes you grow up really fast.

One of the hardest times I
ever had as a young Marine

was dealing with that
loss for the first time.

- Life gets hard and... - Right.

...when you learn how
to push through that,

I mean,
it does make you more mentally tough.

Life experience,
it's every partof who you are.

So,
going into this individual challenge,

I'm gonna bust my a*s to win.

than what I am today.

As you know, Lee,
most alternators

have two to four bolts
holding them in place.

Some alternators are easy
to get to; other alternators,

you almost have to dismantle
the whole engine to get to it.

Some alternators are
on the very bottom.

You don't want to
get that alternator.

You want the one
on the very top.

I know which car got the
easy alternator to take off.

Don't give away any hints
aboutwhat you're going for, Lee,

'cause you're competing
against everybody else.

In this job,
you will all be put to the test

and the last two of
you to finish this job

and bring the alternators
here will be going into overtime

an alternator looked like,

but, you know,
it was nice and clean,

so when you open that thing,

everything's dirty,
everything looks a little the same.

Trying to find that
alternator so they don't

I don't want to waste
my time trying to figure out

what kind of car; my goal is to

find one that I
never have to leave.

I search three or four cars

and then boom,
there's an alternator,

like cherry on an ice cream.

I have never
taken an alternator out,

but I spend a lot
of time in Alaska

keeping my boat running.

I know my wrenches
and I know my sockets.

I'm pretty confident.

Tara, you got your eyes on one?

I was 28.

But my experience
with cars is limited

to just some basic maintenance,

so I'm looking for an alternator

that's easy to get to.

only has one bolt on it.

This is my second
time going into overtime,

and I'm feeling better
about overtime today,

only 'cause when
we're at a fire,

when there's so much going on,
usually I'm just calm.

It's like game seven
in any kind of sport.

I like the pressure. Just,
you know,

me and the finish line.

Going up against
someone from Savage Crew

feels a little bit
better than going up

against someone from our team.

Young will be
difficult competition,

but I'm just ready to do it.

Young and Melissa,

since you finished the
individual competition last,

you both have to work overtime.

By the end of this challenge,

one of you will stayin
contention for the $200,000,

the other one will be cutfrom
the individual competition

and punch out.

Here at this Pick-A-Part,

if you want to take
rubber off the rim,

then all you need is
a machine like this.

But that's not how
you're doing it today.

You're doing it the
old-fashioned way.

As you can see,
there's some tools out on the workbench.

You have to take
the tires off three rims

and then stack them
on the racks over there.

I'm gonna give
you two key factors

in being able to
complete this job.

One is,
you want to take off the tread.

The second thing is,
you need to break the bead on the tire

to get it off the rim.

got the box cutter out.

My parents,

off a rim before in my life.

The only thing I've ever
done with tires was shine them

or change them on my cars.

Working on the bead;

that bead is a band of steel

that goes all the
way around the rim,

and somehow,
you got to figure out

how to cut through it.

so I don't have to
change the blade out.

I'm starting to
panic at this point.

cutting now on his bead.
