Lookout Weekend: Cruel Summer IV (2025)

Post by bunniefuu »

(logo whooshing)

(victim screaming)

(transition clacking)

(pensive music)

(upbeat music)

(driver laughing)

Oh.

Oh Lord.

(bottle clinking)

(driver laughing)

Happiness and serenity

from the Holy Spirit.

(inhaling) It's home time. (Laughing)

(grunting) Okay.

All right. (Muttering)

(upbeat ominous music)

Boy, did that suck.

Can't even make it through the credits.

So glad I streamed it

instead of bothering to set up the reels.

(apple crunching)

"When do you get off from?"

(sighing) Really?

I already told you,

another 45 minutes.

Idiot. (Sighing)

"Cruel Summer 3,"

another winner, no doubt.

(scoffing) I can't believe they made it

more than one of these crap fests.

I don't know how this place plans

to stay in business much longer

streaming garbage like this.

Oh wow.

"Sequel: Cruel Summer 2." (laughing)

They actually named the second

one "Sequel?" (laughing)

They really put a lot of thought

into this franchise. (Laughing)

f*ck. (Laughing)

Oh my God.

The only thing I could

do to make this worth it

is you, baby.

Miss Mary Jane, hello. (Laughing)

I've been thinking about you all day.

(mysterious banging)

(pensive music)

Hey, who's in there?

Hello?

Knock it off, huh?

No one's supposed to be up here.

(mysterious banging)

I mean it, as*h*le.

I'm not playing around.

Come on out.

God, they don't pay me

e-f*cking-nough to work here.

(sighing) I hate this place.

(light switch clicking)

(employee panting)

(mysterious crashing)

(punch smacking)

(employee grunting)

No.

No.

(blade scratching)

Please.

No, no.

I have a wife and two daughters.

(blade zinging)

(employee gasping)

(employee screaming)

Have a heart.

(flesh tearing)

(blood spraying)

(flesh tearing)

(upbeat ominous music)

(transitions whirring,

crackling and hissing)

Hey, honey, you left

your gloves in the house.

Did you want me to go grab 'em for you?

Yeah, um, I was just too

lazy to go get 'em myself.

Okay. How's it going out here?

[Wife] Whew.

Well, it's brutally hot,

but other than that, pretty good.

I don't know why you'd choose

the hottest part of the day to do this.

(sighing) It's Florida, babe,

it's always going to be

the hottest time of day.

I know, but I told

you I would handle this.

But you insisted on doing it yourself, so.

I know, but I'm just

trying to make it my thing.

We agreed when we got this place

that I was gonna be the one

who did all the garden work

and you were gonna do all the kitchen,

cleaning, cooking stuff.

Speaking of kitchen stuff,

I made you something.

[Wife] Ooh, what is it?

Arnold Palmer.

Mm, that is so good.

Could've used a little

bit more ice though.

(laughing) It melted on the way over.

That's how hot it is.

(wife laughing)

But don't worry, I made extra for you.

I froze some in the fridge for later too.

Oh, perfect. Great.

(husband laughing)

By the way, I grabbed the mail.

Something came for you.

[Wife] Oh, what is it?

I'm not sure, it says,

"Los Bastardz Productions."

Interesting.

- Uh-huh.

- They usually don't send

anything as formal as mail.

Usually Scott just emails or messages us.

Well, it was sent priority mail,

so maybe it's important.

Huh.

Well, they haven't spoken

to us since the premiere.

Wonder what it could be.

Do you think he reconsidered,

wants to sh**t the fourth film?

No, he said that that

franchise was done.

He wanted to move on to other things.

Hmm, well, we're never

gonna know what it is

unless you open it.

So give it a shot.

All right.

"Hey, guys, it's Scott."

Hope you guys are doing well.

Been a while, missing you both.

Jason and I are hosting

a special press event

that may finally give

the "Cruel Summer" films

some big exposure,

and I'm hoping you both can make it.

What kind of event?

Hang on, there's, there's more.

- Okay.

- Um,

"A Cruel Summer k*ll-a-thon."

(laughing) k*ll-a-thon?

I like that, it sounds pretty cool.

(laughing) "On September

13th, 14th and 15th",

join us for a triple feature screening

of the entire "Cruel

Summer film franchise",

with new added footage,

behind-the-scenes videos,

live music performances, a Q&A,

"and a wild after party."

Mm.

"All being held at

the Pavilion Theater."

Um, "Cast and crew will be in attendance",

along with many news reporters

and local celebrities.

Hope to see you there.

"RSVP," blah, blah, blah.

Huh.

- Oh.

"Cruel Summer" marathon. (Laughing)

That's awesome.

Yeah, I mean, you're always saying

those films are overlooked.

Overlooked, yeah, but

(sighing) three days.

Uh, I don't know if I can

get the time off work and...

Babe, what else are we gonna do?

This could finally be

the chance everybody gets

to get the exposure,

the credit they deserve.

[Wife] I wonder if the extra footage

that he's talking about

is that really long speech

I made in the first film.

That was some of my best work.

Well, one way to find out, we gotta go.

(sighing) Okay, okay.

Um, but before we commit to anything,

maybe we should see if anybody else

is all-in for it, you know?

All right, look,

we haven't done anything

since the wedding,

we do have plenty of vacation days to use,

so why not?

Okay.

Um, I left my phone inside.

Could I borrow yours?

Yeah, yeah, here.

What for?

Just hold on.

Hey, Hannah.

Yeah. (Laughing)

Wait, you just got it in the mail too?

No way.

Three days.

Yeah, I don't know, it could be fun.

Jonah really wants to go.

What does Nick say?

Wait, wait, wait.

You both already RSVP'd?

- Hmm.

- Okay, okay, okay.

We'll do that right now.

Definitely.

(laughing) All right, see ya then.

Okay, bye.

So we're going?

We're going.

Look out, weekend, here we come.

All right. (Laughing)

(wife laughing)

I need a new dress.

Wait, right, right now?

Can we get lunch first?

(traffic faintly whizzing)

No, no, no. Debbie, y-you need to emote.

You need to show much more emotion.

You've just gambled away your savings.

Now you have to tell your husband.

You should be panicking,

y-you should be remorseful.

But instead,

it's like you're dragging a*s

getting ready to work on

a Monday morning, okay?

So show us some emotion.

Show us some feeling, okay?

Now, take it from the top.

All alone in the moon

Oh, stop, okay?

Just, just stop.

Take a break.

Have a seat, Meryl Streep.

God, did that suck?

(attendees laughing)

Nelson.

- Yes, sir.

You're up.

Show us how to act.

Yes, sir.

Dr. Horton, I'm sorry to interrupt.

There's a call for you.

[Attendees] No cellphones

during rehearsal.

Yeah, and who taught you all that?

Using my own words against

me, you little monsters.

Can't this not wait?

We're in the middle of

an important lesson.

It's Scott Tepperman.

He says it's very important.

Scotty, huh?

Okay, I-I-I'll take it.

Will you take over for me?

- Of course, sir.

- Okay.

Debbie can show you where we left off.

We started off over here.

Okay, so what we need

to do is we need to start.

Scotty boy.

Yeah, it has been a while.

How's it going?

You know, it's going pretty well here too.

I had three new students sign up and...

Invitation?

No, I don't believe I did.

Two weeks ago.

Huh, I'll ask Ally.

You know, maybe it got

mixed in with the bills.

Triple feature marathon weekend?

You know, that sounds great.

When?

Okay, yeah, right.

It's all on the invite.

Okay, I'll ask her.

Send me the details anyway, just in case.

Okay, great.

You know, maybe this

will spark some interest

in the franchise again.

Good.

Well, if you need

anything else before then,

you know how to get in touch with me.

Okay, see ya soon, brother.

I think you got it,

but I really do think

you need to put a little

more feeling into it.

What do you think?

I definitely agree.

That didn't take very long.

Is, is everything okay?

Yeah, Scott and Jason are

hosting a "Cruel Summer" weekend

with a triple feature

overnight marathon. (Laughing)

And they called me for an RSVP,

but I don't remember

getting an invitation,

but he swore he mailed

it like two weeks ago.

You didn't by chance put it on my desk

when I was out sick last week, did you?

No, I don't remember that.

I overheard you guys talking.

Are you trying to find that invite?

Yes.

Why?

(laughing) 'Cause I have it.

It's in my bag.

Hold on.

Why does Emilio have our mail?

I don't know.

You know, we have to be

careful with that stuff.

I give special rates to students

who have special issues,

and I don't want that

information leaking out.

It's private, it, it

could get a bit awkward.

[Ally] Yes, sir.

Here you go.

Oh, thanks.

- Mm.

- Uh, give us a second,

okay, Ally?

Huh, and I see you, uh,

you opened it too.

(Emilio laughing)

May I ask why you keep grabbing our mail

addressed to this company

and to me in particular?

I thought it was important, sir.

Nevermind.

You saw "Los Bastardz"

on the return address,

you couldn't help yourself.

Is that it?

Look, Emilio, you need to stop

obsessing over Los Bastardz.

They're not casting you

in any of their films,

especially the "Cruel Summer" franchise.

That franchise is over, dead, all right?

We've moved on.

Besides, you have a long way,

a long way to go

before you're ready for a feature film.

Huh, sorry, I thought you had an in, no?

Yeah, I,

not we.

And you're not gonna bother them

for one of their films, okay?

They're my connection, not yours.

Besides, you're not

ready for a feature film,

you need to keep working

on stage productions, okay?

Do you understand?

Hmm, fine.

Uh, and Emilio,

just take the rest of the day off

to decompress and refocus, right?

And I'll see you next class.

- Mm.

- And Emilio,

if I have to talk to you

again about this mail,

you're outta here.

as*h*le.

(Dr. Horton sighing)

Egomaniac.

(Emilio sighing)

(glass smashing)

(door creaking)

[Announcer] Hey, guys,

we're Smoke Mountain.

Thanks for coming out

to the Cruel Summer Weekend k*ll-a-thon.

You guys probably remember this one.

It's called "Death Proof."

(attendees cheering)

[Singer] One, two, three, four.

(upbeat heavy music)

(attendees faintly speaking)

Hey, guys, guys.

Guys, hey, first of all,

thank y'all for coming out.

This is gonna be a great weekend.

Uh, Scott and I are extremely

happy everybody's here.

A lot of cast, a lot of crew.

Uh, there is some media here,

so they're gonna be doing some questions.

If you guys give them some

time over the weekend,

we'd appreciate it.

But this wouldn't happen

if it wasn't for all of you guys.

So we really do appreciate you guys.

Thank you.

(attendees clapping)

Thank you.

All right, we do have a lot of,

and I've been yelling all day

so my voice is shot,

so bear with me.

(attendees laughing)

But we've been dealing, uh, with everybody

and talking to everybody for

a while leading up to this.

But, uh, we do have some OGs

from the original film in the house.

Let me see your hands.

- Right.

Hell yeah.

(attendees clapping)

And, uh, yeah, we're gonna

get ready for the first film.

We're gonna head down

the hallway, make a left,

go up the steps, theater's there.

Shut the phones off, mute 'em,

because good people in theaters suck a*s.

(attendees laughing)

You guys ready?

- Yeah.

- Let's go.

(attendees clapping and cheering)

Yay, so excited.

[Attendee] This is gonna be great.

Yeah.

Mm, this is gonna be great.

(attendee laughing)

(ominous music)

(attendees laughing)

(attendees clapping and cheering)

So, Harold, how do you like

working with Scott, Jim, Jason,

and the rest of the Los Bastardz crew?

Oh, they're a great group of guys.

I worked with them about 10 years ago

on a film in Tennessee,

and then about a year later,

they called me for another film.

So when they called me

about "Cruel Summer,"

I definitely had to be a part of it.

Yes, and you have a

fairly significant role

in that one, if I'm not mistaken.

Yes, I play Tobin, one

of the main characters.

And I have to admit,

I've yet to see part two,

but I hear you return

in that film as well?

You haven't seen part two yet?

(laughing) Now, there's no excuses.

You know, you definitely

have to support indie films.

Well, there you have it,

supporting indie films and physical media

seems to be the message of the evening.

Once again, we're coming to you

live from this unique event,

a rare sight for a city of this

magnitude to say the least.

(attendees faintly speaking and laughing)

- You got this.

- Thank you.

So Mattie Ward, is it?

- Yep, yep.

- Yeah.

How'd you become a part

of the "Crew Summer" franchise series?

Um, I saw a self-tape audition,

sent it to Scott, and,

uh, and he liked it,

and I've been here ever since.

And you've been a

part of all three films?

Yeah, yeah.

Oh, okay.

Can you tell me,

what was the most difficult

part about filming this film?

Um, well, I don't like cursing

and I never really cursed before,

but, um, so Scott wanted

me to help find that.

- Mm-hmm.

- Scott and I are both

from New York, so cursing

was like foreign to us.

So anyway, we really worked on that

and was able to find that voice.

Got you, got you.

Can you please tell me,

what's the deal with those meatballs?

Ah, (laughing) the meatballs.

You're liking the meatballs-

Yes,

I do. (Laughing)

- huh?

Yeah, I got some in the car if you want.

No, I'm just kidding.

- Aw, mm.

- But yeah,

no, uh, yeah, it started off as a gag,

and then it just carried

through to all the other, uh,

to all the other films,

which was great 'cause I

got to eat the meatballs

on the scene,

so yeah, yeah.

- Okay.

But don't worry, don't worry.

- Okay.

- There's no more meatballs

in this.

- (laughing) That sounds cool.

Thank you, I won't keep your time.

I know you gotta make your rounds.

I haven't actually had the chance

to see any of the films yet,

so I'll definitely check

'em out this weekend.

All right, sweet,

you're gonna love 'em.

- Great, thank you so much.

- Yeah, you're welcome.

- Thank you.

Thank you.

- Thank you.

Excuse me, uh,

how many hot dogs are

you gonna eat tonight?

(upbeat heavy music)

'Til I die

(text whooshing)

Scott, Jason.

Please, can I have a moment with you guys?

- Yeah, sure.

- Yeah, sure.

What's going on?

Um, I wanted to touch upon the films

and this franchise.

Uh, what is it that you guys

think make your movies you?

We don't, we don't have any mold.

We just do our own thing.

I usually make movies for

movies that I wanna see.

We, we, we, we do a family style here.

It's, um, we build a lot of friendships

and we treat everybody like family.

So everybody keeps coming back.

And it's, it's a close-knit group.

We've been working with

the same people for ages.

Hey, John.

- Sorry.

Hey, John.

No problem at all.

I didn't get a chance

to catch up to you.

- How's it going, man?

- How you doing?

Guy's losing his voice already.

- Yeah, I've been busy, man.

- How you doing?

So, uh, who are you?

Uh, I have no idea.

No, John Masiac.

I was "Cruel 2," but.

And these crazy guys right

here bring me the cocaine.

You know, cocaine's a hell of a drug,

hell of a drug.

But you gotta see the scenes

to really get an idea.

He, he had hilarious scenes.

We really did.

We, we, um, there was

a place where I work,

but we used the office

and we laid down a bunch of baking powder.

- Right.

- And he came in

and we're like, "Go ahead,"

and, you know, you're

snorting the cocaine,

you're looking around,

you're doing whatever.

(laughing) So we're filming him,

he drops down, comes up,

got a little dot of the stuff on his.

Like, it's funny, but

it didn't work at all.

Like, "No, you gotta make it,

you have to really make it register."

So like, "All right, gimme a minute."

We go, we do another take.

And like, "Action,"

he disappears, he comes up,

it's all over his face.

He's wilding.

- His whole sh*t was covered.

He's like, "Whoo."

It's a good turnout, man.

Dude, this is badass.

This is awesome.

I mean, all the cast, all the crew,

everybody here, man.

Tons of people.

Many more than I thought.

Great turnout.

- Man, this is awesome.

- Media.

- Awesome.

Media was great.

What, what's up with the one guy, Derrick?

- That Derrick guy?

- Yeah.

I never even saw him.

He had, I know,

they said he had this weird old camera,

but I didn't see anybody like that at all.

I don't know,

I know he was supposed to

interview us after the sequel.

- Right.

- Part two.

This is the end of the sequel. (Laughing)

- Right.

- I don't know where he is.

Yeah, I don't know.

I just, it's...

- Hey, guys.

- Hey, what's going on?

Hey, Hannah, how you doing?

Hey, good, how are you?

Did a great job.

- Great to see you.

- Did a great job.

Great job.

- Thank you.

- Good to see you again.

- Thank you.

Good to see you.

- Awesome.

What's up, Nick, how you doing?

What's up with that guy?

It's nothing.

Nothing?

It sure as hell didn't look like nothing.

It's just that he's still kind of upset

that he never got cast

in any of the films.

He's still pissed about that stuff?

[Hannah] Yeah, kinda.

Uh, it's a little petty.

- Yeah, it's very petty.

- I mean...

I mean, it's like a family reunion

every time we're on set.

But he feels like he's never invited.

Well, it is a family reunion.

We just don't have a role for him.

We're not gonna put him in anything.

If we have something for him,

give him a roll.

- Right.

That's what I keep telling him,

but he's still a bit sore over it.

I even had to twist his arm

just to get him here this weekend.

- Wow.

- I just, that,

I mean, that seems a little silly,

but I mean, whatever.

- Yeah.

He's coming back.

- Yeah, yeah, no.

- Just please don't tell him

I said anything, okay?

- No, no problem.

Line was too long,

let's go.

- Oh, okay.

See you guys later.

All right, man, see ya, Nick.

I'd hate to be on that guy's bad side.

I think we already are, brother.

(attendees faintly speaking)

- Hey, how are you?

- Uh,

I was hoping to run into you, Jason.

How's, how's, uh, how'd you think,

what did you think of the second movie?

The second one was fantastic.

That, that usually gets

a lot of people going

from the first one.

Uh, the third one is,

is fantastic as well.

I can't wait for you guys to see it all.

Yeah, you, you seem to be

working on a lot of projects.

Anything outside of

"Cruel Summer" recently?

Well, um, yeah, we do.

We actually, we have a network,

uh, Dark Round TV,

uh, streaming on a couple

of big platforms right now.

It's, um, all crypted,

uh, UFO, urban legend, thrill seeking.

Um, and we're building

subscribers by the day.

We got new content coming

and constantly building that.

So yeah, thanks for asking.

Yeah, there's some

great content right here.

(laughing) Award-winning

social media content,

if I do say so myself.

Time to monetize this f*ck.

(door knocking)

Occupied, try the next one, buddy.

(door knocking)

I said try the next one, damn.

(door banging)

What the f*ck?

(reporter grunting)

(blood spatting)

(attendees faintly speaking)

Excuse me.

Excuse me.

- Yes.

- Are you Chris?

- Yes, I am.

Uh, can I ask you a

few questions, Chris?

- Yes, you may.

- Awesome.

So I hear you were fairly involved

in "Cruel Summer" movies one and two,

so wanted to hear a little bit

about what your role in all of that was.

Um, basically just helped

them get the locations.

There was the theater in two

and then we did the hotel in part three.

And I just was affiliated with them

and had a good relationship

through the paranormal and

everything else that I do,

and, um, and then my fiance Alex too,

helped us get it and

was part of everything.

So, um, just doing my part to help

and get the films rolling.

Awesome, and what was

it about those places

that really stood out to you,

that made you choose them?

Basically the history

and what Scott had asked

that he wanted for the film itself,

to get exactly what he wanted.

Awesome, awesome.

Um, were any of the references

that you guys incorporated

from other films,

were they present in the settings?

Um, somewhat, to some extent, yes.

Got you, thank you

so much for your time.

I really appreciate that.

Thank you.

(pensive music)

- Hey, Anastasia.

- Oh, hi.

What's going on?

- Good.

- Good to see you.

- Anastasia, how you doing?

- Hi, I'm doing good.

- Good to see you.

- Sorry we haven't caught up

with you, been hectic this weekend.

- Yeah.

- It's been too busy.

How's everything going for you?

It's going good, I've

been hearing feedback

about my performance

and how good I did.

You know, that's what

we've been hearing too.

- Yeah.

- They said they loved you.

- Yeah.

- And again,

we can't thank you enough for being here,

and, you know, we love

having you on board.

You did an amazing job.

- Thank you.

- As always.

And also, if you guys

have anything that you need

or any other bookings,

I'm, I would love to do anything.

Oh, we always said

we're gonna work with you.

- Yeah.

- Yeah.

- Yeah, absolutely.

- Absolutely.

Hopefully we'll see

you this weekend though.

- Yeah, of course.

- We gotta get up.

But, um, yeah, you did a great job.

- Thank you.

- Yeah, sorry.

- Thank you.

- Have a good one, thank you.

- You too.

- Take care.

What's up with the

f*cking guy in the corner

with the hot dogs?

I thought he came here with you.

He's not a friend of mine.

I think he's a friend of Lisa's,

but.

- Who the f*ck is he?

I don't know. He's

just been sitting around.

He followed us around all

damn day eating hot dogs.

That's all he's been doing

the entire time.

Eating that same f*cking hot dog.

The entire f*cking time.

I mean, look at him.

He looks like he talks to

f*cking ghosts and crazy sh*t.

What a loser.

Brother, I'm telling you,

this is the one that's

gonna get us noticed.

It was awesome.

Again, I didn't think

part three was my favorite,

but, you know, it's growing on me

definitely after this weekend.

Great turnout, so that's

a good thing, right?

- It was.

- Mm.

- It was a good one.

- Are,

are you kidding?

Cam, part three was the best.

Well, I usually get that.

Um, I think two,

I think "Cruel 2" is the best,

but three was the most fun.

But being an indie film,

you always get that type

of sh*t all the time, so.

Oh, hey, you guys, I think I'm this way,

so I'm gonna split off.

Um, I have pictures for you.

No rush, Lisa, I'm not gonna be able

to get those for a few days.

Okay, okay.

But I'll let you know when I get home.

I love you, I miss you already.

Bye, guys, see ya.

- All right, see ya, Lisa.

Bye, Lisa.

I'm spent, I'm so tired.

Jesus, where the f*ck did you park?

It's just right up here.

Hey, guys, look, I'm gonna head out.

I'm gonna head back to the hotel.

I'm gonna get a shower, change,

and I'll meet you guys in the lobby,

what, like 90 minutes or so?

- Yeah.

- Yeah, that works.

We'll grab some food or something.

Brother, I could use a bourbon, man.

Yeah, the hotel probably has that too.

We'll, we'll grab some stuff.

All right, sounds good.

Kim.

- Bye.

- We'll see you.

- See ya.

Cameron, we'll see you, brother.

- All right, man.

- See ya, bro.

See ya.

Hey, Cam, it's really

good to see you, man.

Yeah, definitely, it's

great catching up this weekend

for a little bit anyways.

It's really good when we

don't have a time schedule,

you know, that we have

to be so stringent with.

It's just cool to lounge.

Yeah, roger that.

I'm really digging the laid-back vibe

of this weekend. (Laughing)

Cool.

Oh, hey, by the way,

where the hell did you park?

Oh, a ways up there.

The lot was full, man.

Uh, next to some fancy Italian joint.

Oh yeah, that's right up the road.

It's about two blocks away.

Two more blocks?

Jesus.

- Yeah,

it's not that big a deal.

I mean, the doc said I could use

a little bit of exercise anyway.

Definitely couldn't hurt.

It couldn't hurt,

but our car's literally

right there. (Laughing)

Like we'll drive you over to your car.

- Yeah, okay.

- Yeah, yeah.

All right.

Got any change?

[Cam] I, I ain't got

any cash on me, man.

Hate those f*cking people.

Good Lord.

What about you, buddy?

Can you help a m-man out?

Got any change?

Wait, what, what are you doing?

That's, that's mine.

That's mine.

Ah.

(glass smashing)

Ooh, looks like somebody left us a gift.

f*ck is this?

- Huh.

- I, I don't know.

You tell me, it was here when we got in.

(upbeat music)

[Scott] I have no idea.

You know, maybe somebody

left it as a gift,

you know, somebody from

the film cast or crew.

I mean, I got a few anonymous gifts

when I had the premiere

for "Postmortem America" a while back.

Open it.

- Yeah, open it.

[Scott] What the f*ck?

What is it?

[Scott] Damn, I have no idea.

I, I, I don't know. It

[Scott] It, it, it looks like a hand.

A what?

[Cam] Yeah, that looks,

that's a human f*cking hand.

Is it real?

It's real, it looks real to me.

I don't know if I've ever seen one

in real life like that before,

but what do I know?

I mean, I've never seen one

like this up close before,

so I, I, I have no clue.

(traffic faintly whizzing)

(doors clacking)

Let me see.

(paper rustling)

Oh my God.

Are you sure that's not fake?

I mean, I, I certainly

don't think it's fake,

but what the f*ck do I know?

Hey, hey, what's up, guys?

- Hey, man.

- I was,

we didn't get a chance to

chat much this weekend,

but I was wanting to tell you and Jason,

uh, good job on everything,

but I guess Jason bounced out early,

so good job, Scott.

Cool, thank you, appreciate it.

Also, I thought it

was a really cool idea

we based the whole weekend around, uh,

the, the "Cruel Summer" trilogy.

It was, uh, really cool

to be able to watch

all the movies back to back.

It was also real sweet

seeing Smoke Mountain

perform "Death Proof" live.

That was awesome.

- Yeah.

- Yeah, those guys

are f*cking awesome, man.

Thanks, cool, thank you.

Well, I guess we'll

catch you later, man.

- All right, guys, thanks.

- Have a good one.

- Yeah, man.

- Hey, guys, hold up a minute.

- Yeah, what's up?

- Uh,

I, I know we don't know

each other, we haven't met,

but Scott's told me a lot about you.

You guys know a little

bit about special effects?

- Yeah.

- Yeah, we make

the best special effects.

Uh, been trying to get Jason and Scott

to, to get us to do one of

their, uh, their movies,

but just, uh, hadn't

done it yet. (Laughing)

Mind taking a look at something for us

to keep it on the hush-hush quiet?

- Yeah, no problem.

- Guys,

please don't say anything.

Just really...

- Yeah, man.

All right.

Take a peek.

(paper rustling)

(laughing) That's a hand, man.

(laughing) What the?

Uh, that's a f*cking hand, bro.

Hey, hand me, hand

me one of those sticks.

Here, man.

Looks pretty g*dd*mn real to me.

Where'd you find it?

[Kim] It was in our car.

In your car?

Yeah, wrapped up in a

gift box just like that.

Yeah, we thought it was a joke at first,

but apparently not.

Man, y'all need to contact

the authorities for sure.

Yeah, definitely gonna do that.

Well, uh, all right, man,

uh, I think, uh, we're gonna head out.

We got a long drive ahead of us

to get to this gig next weekend.

Uh, so you guys need us to

hang around for anything?

I think you guys are good.

Think you guys are good.

- All right, man.

All right, well, we'll catch you

later then, dude.

- All right, appreciate it,

guys, thank you.

- All right, man.

We really need to call the cops.

This is like no joke.

- It's a f*cking hand.

- I'm not getting arrested

for this, I'm not prison material.

What about the, the

security guard at the theater?

He might've seen who

dropped it off in the car.

You know, it might be a

clue or, or something,

I mean...

It's better than nothing, we can check.

- Yeah.

- Yeah, it's worth a shot.

All right, all right,

let's check it out.

- Okay.

- All right.

Hey, yo, buddy.

Hey, man.

Hello?

I think his name was William.

Uh, we were talking to

him in between the films.

Hey, William, William?

Yo, William?

I don't think...

- Now, what is all this?

Oh, hi, Mr. Tepperman.

What can I do for you?

Well, we were on our way

back to the parking lot

behind Vista,

and, uh, we found a hand.

You, you, you did?

A, a human hand?

[Kim] It's a hand, what

other type could there be?

Yeah, we thought we

should bring it to you.

Yeah, that's a good idea.

Let me take a look.

That is a human handout, all right.

Where'd you find it?

Back of our car.

(laughing) Well, that's not good, is it?

Duh, no.

What are we supposed to do?

You want us to call the cops,

can you call the cops for us,

or what should we do?

Let me take care of it.

You guys go on home.

We, we know where to

find you if we need you.

Okay.

(door clacking)

Well, that was awkward.

I don't know if it was awkward,

that guy was just a little weird.

Yeah, weird security guard,

mysterious severed f*cking hand.

This is some "Blue Velvet"

level type sh*t, dude.

I, I can't be a part of this.

I've gotta bolt.

Oh man, listen, this is gonna blow over.

No, no, no, it's not gonna blow over.

I'm sorry, brother.

I, I don't do this David

Lynch sh*t very well.

You know that.

So if you need me to talk to the cops,

if need be, I can do that for you.

But I gotta go, I gotta bolt.

Appreciate you coming out, man.

Sorry about this, but

have a good trip back.

- Yeah.

- Yeah, tell Patty we said hi.

Yeah, will do.

You guys be safe?

- Okay, thanks, you too.

[Dispatch] Detective Vincenzo, dispatch.

Detective Vincenzo, dispatch.

(door knocking)

(paper rustling)

[Chief] Sorry to bring

you in on your days off.

Oh, no, problem, sir.

I'm used to it, but, uh, what's up?

Body part at a film screening.

You up for it?

Body part at a film screening.

What's that supposed to be?

Exactly that.

Apparently some guy went to

a horror-themed film festival

or something like that.

Went to his car after the event

and found a severed hand

in a box on his dashboard.

Nicely wrapped up in a

box, bow and everything.

And this was at a horror film screening?

Did anyone stop to think it

might be a fake hand or a gag?

I mean, these things are

typically freak shows

on any normal day.

Yeah, we thought that too.

But the one who found it

brought it to the theater security guard.

He said it checked out,

so he brought it in this morning.

This morning, huh?

When did they first find it?

About 9:00 p.m. last night,

about the same time we started our sting.

Unfortunately that whole

operation's tied up

all our available officers

and that's why I had to bring you in.

So where's the hand now?

It's down on ice at the evidence lab,

along with the information

of those who found it.

You may wanna reach out to them first.

Okay, gotcha, I'll check it out.

Great.

And I have an officer

on loan from the 44th

to assist you.

She'll be here at noon.

I really appreciate that, sir,

but I really don't mind

handling this case alone.

I know, it wasn't a request,

it came from the higher-ups.

They figure where there's a hand,

there's probably a body,

and they want this thing wrapped up quick

before it gets any bigger

than it already is.

Okay, so who are they

pairing me up with this time?

Detective Cagney.

- Oh, I don't think...

- I know,

you two had issues

working together before.

But she's a solid detective,

and I'm confident that you two

can make a dent on this case early on.

But you're both headstrong,

so you need to tone it

down a notch or two.

And remember, teamwork

makes the dream work.

Oh, so now (laughing) we're doing

inspirational poster quotes

now, right?

- Hey, couldn't hurt.

Yes, sir.

Great, so I'll brief her on the case,

I'll have a little talk about cooperation,

and I'll send her your way.

Keep in touch.

Lemme know what you find.

You know I will, sir.

This should be fun.

(birds singing)

(phone buzzing)

(cup clattering)

Yeah?

I've literally had three hours sleep

in the last 72 hours.

Where's Victor?

He's on call today.

(sighing) So they finally decided

to go through with the sting.

(sighing) Of course it

would be on my two days off.

All right, just gimme like 30 minutes.

Okay, fine, make it 20.

I'll be there in 20.

Okay, see ya then.

No, I, no, dude, no,

I'll make coffee here.

That disgusting excuse

for coffee in the station

is not gonna cut it today.

Yeah, see ya soon.

(phone clacking)

Leo. (Calling)

Come on, kitty, I have your breakfast.

Leo, where are you?

Where are you, you darn cat?

Ah, all right, well, you

know where to find your food

when you need it.

(door knocking)

(door squeaking)

- Hey, guys.

- Sir, Detective Cagney,

Detective Leonard.

We're looking for a Mr. Tepperman.

Heard he might be here.

Scott, yeah, he's in the dining room

with our production manager.

Why don't you guys come on in?

Hey, guys.

This is Detective Cagney

and that's Detective Leonard.

- How you doing?

- Thank you guys

so much for coming.

We really appreciate this.

Um, you wanna have a seat?

No? Okay.

Can I get you coffee, water, tea,

a sandwich, anything?

- No, thank you, ma'am.

Okay.

No, so obviously we're

here about the hand.

Can you tell me how it came

in your possession exactly?

Yeah, uh, basically my wife and I,

we, we got in the car,

and we...

- So he's the one

who filed the report.

Yeah, I, I'm aware.

Just call me Scott.

And this is Lisa, our production manager.

Hey, uh, are you sure I

can't make you a sandwich?

I mean, I've got turkey and mayo,

I've got multi-grain bread,

I've got...

- Lisa, Lisa, Lisa,

please, enough with the

damn sandwich already.

Jason, I am coping in the

best way I know how right now,

trying not to lose my sh*t.

So can you back the f*ck off of me?

I'm sorry, guys.

Another time, ma'am.

So, the hand.

Oh, it was the weirdest thing.

Uh, my wife, my friend, Cameron, myself,

we were walking outta my car and...

[Leonard] This was at the film festival.

I, I've been briefed,

you know that, right?

It wasn't really a film festival,

it was more of a marathon weekend.

We have a new film, and

it's a new slasher film.

And so we were figuring out

we would do a triple,

triple marathon screening

of these films.

I'm a local filmmaker

and I have an independent

film production company.

I see.

And what's the name of that company?

It's, uh, Los Bastardz Productions.

Have you been briefed?

(footsteps stomping)

What the f*ck are you guys doing?

Look, I come home from work,

after a long f*cking day I might add,

just to sit down with

my food and my phone,

and see our company's name

spread all across social media,

and for all the wrong f*cking reasons too.

I mean, f*cking hell.

Sir, I'm gonna need

to have you deescalate

and, uh, please, refrain

from the profanity.

(mockingly imitating)

Who the f*ck are you, CIA?

That's Detective Leonard,

Detective Cagney.

They're the ones that

are assigned to our case.

A case?

(laughing) Oh, it's a case now, is it?

Well, that's just f*cking great.

That's all I need is for

this to blow up in our faces

and, and just drag our

name through the shitter.

Sir, please, the language.

And it's already blown up.

Now, I assume your Jim O'Rear?

[Jim] In the flesh, cupcake.

That's detective.

Yeah, tomato, tomato.

Look, you guys, now,

I gave you my blessing

to make these little films together, okay?

And, and Jason, you know I like you,

and I am so glad that you have

been able to work with Scott

to get these things

successfully out there.

But what I don't like

is all the negative publicity

Los Bastardz is getting

for what happened the other night.

I mean, what was this cluster f*ck, huh?

This, this big circle jerk?

I mean, cramming a bunch of people

into a small, little

theater for three days

with one unarmed guard,

what the f*ck were you guys thinking?

(sighing) Brother, look, man,

I'm, I'm, I'm sorry about that.

I, I tried to get some guys from my unit

to help with security,

but with scheduling and

availability and all that sh*t,

it, it just didn't work out.

Yeah, well, I appreciate that.

But you guys really f*cked this one up.

It wasn't our intention.

We, we didn't mean to do that at all.

I mean, you know that.

Yeah, but you did do it.

So now fix it.

Call me later after all of

this sh*t is worked out.

f*ck.

- See ya, brother.

- Bye, Jim, I'll call you.

All right, bye, Jim.

(door slamming)

Well, now, that's quite the

excitable little character.

Okay, let's all just calm down.

Lisa, is it?

- Yes, ma'am.

Okay, can you just stay here?

I'm gonna need you two

to come with me into the living room,

go over your statement,

just get any information

that really you have about this,

'cause like we're dead

in the water right now.

Sure.

(car engine rumbling)

(car doors slamming)

(car horn honking)

(door clacking)

(door squeaking and clacking)

Oh, dude, this is serious.

Missing body parts?

No clues?

Dude, this sh*t's gonna get messy.

It's gonna be all over

the f*cking the news

if it isn't already.

What the f*ck is wrong with people?

I don't understand people

and what goes through their minds.

Sick f*ck.

Exactly, that's what I've

been trying to tell you.

No MO, no clues?

These cases are next

to impossible to solve.

I just hope it's not that

way this f*cking time around.

Well, what about helping 'em out?

I mean, you're a cop.

(laughing) Those guys

don't want my f*cking help.

(phone ringing)

Besides, I'm too closely

involved in this case anyways

to f*cking do anything.

Uh.

Beatrice.

- Popley?

- Mm-hmm.

Hey, Beatrice?

Yeah, I'm good, how are you doing?

Yo, he's actually here with me now.

What, what's going on?

You okay?

Yeah, yeah, no, we, we

can come meet you, sure.

Where, where are you?

You're home?

All right, yeah, gimme a couple minutes

and, uh, Jason and I will head out.

All right.

All right, bye.

What's up with Beatrice?

I mean,

she seemed pretty cryptic on the phone,

didn't really say anything,

other than she needed to see us now.

Even she found out about

what happened at the theater.

Now she wants to talk to us.

She's gonna look for some sort

of validation or something.

Validation? For what?

We don't know anything,

But look, I don't know what

to f*cking tell you, man.

I, I, we have to tell her the truth.

I mean, none of us f*cking

know what's going on.

Look, man, I, (sighing)

I'm gonna use your bathroom.

I gotta call Tanya.

I gotta let her know what's going on.

I'm gonna call Cam too.

All right, I'll meet you outside.

- Yeah, I'll drive.

- All right.

All right.

(birds singing)

(door knocking)

(sighing) Hey, guys, thanks for coming.

Hey, Beatrice.

Good to see you.

- Aw, man.

Oh, good to see you.

It's been too long, huh?

- Yes, definitely.

- Always good to see you.

- Mm.

Come on in, guys.

Yeah, this way.

Come on in.

Santiago, hey.

What's up, fellas?

(Beatrice laughing)

What's up? How you doing, man?

- All right, man.

- sh*t, brother,

I didn't even think-

Good to see you, dude.

See you here, man.

Yeah, please, have a seat.

All right.

It's great to see you guys.

Um, I have a quick question, Beatrice.

We had a, uh, a very cryptic

phone call from you though.

Everything okay?

Um, (sighing) guys,

look, we want you to know,

we really, really enjoy working with you

the past couple years.

And I mean, your whole

crew's been so accommodating,

and your sets are always

so much fun to be on,

seriously, um,

and you've really made

Santi and I feel like part of the family.

- Yeah.

- We love working

with you guys.

- Same here, man.

We love working with you guys,

we have a good time.

Well, I can tell you,

it's been an honor working

with both of you guys

on a professional level

and the friendships that we've made.

It's, it's just been amazing.

Same here, bro, um, (laughing)

It's been a great ride, huh?

Yeah.

- Yeah, it sure has.

Oh, and again, we're really sorry

we couldn't make it to that,

uh, "Cruel Summer" weekend,

but it sounds like you guys

had a great time anyway, right?

We had a great time.

Everybody asked for you guys though.

You guys were definitely missed.

We were able to go move forward

and it was a great success.

But yeah, you guys were missed for sure.

- For sure.

- Nice.

Definitely, you know,

we could've made it there

if it was a week before

or after, you know,

we had this Horror Con on the West Coast,

and Beatrice and I have the same agents

and they had to get a bunch of

us all together that weekend.

It's always great seeing you guys.

But I mean, seriously,

this impromptu meeting,

like, is everything all right or what?

All right, it's...

What's going on with this

whole fricking hand thing?

Is it for real?

You guys heard about that, huh?

Yeah, we've, uh,

we've been trying to

keep it on the down low.

Dude, it's, it's been

like in all the news,

and not just local either.

- sh*t.

- Yeah.

Yeah, I, I was afraid

this was gonna happen

sooner or later.

Well, that's, that's why

we asked you to come here.

You know, we just...

(door slamming)

And I'm not interested in it.

No, I'm not interested.

I don't give two shits

about your bottom line.

Well, let me talk with everyone

and I'll get back to you in about an hour.

An hour.

Sorry, guys.

Um, Bobby...

- What the hell

kinda racket are you guys playing?

I'm, I'm sorry?

Read my lips, what kind

of inept production team

are you running?

My clients are being questioned, hassled,

and thrown into a negative light

due to the irresponsible behavior

of your tiny so-called production company.

Hey, f*ck you, pal.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.

Let's just, let's just calm down,

sit down and, and let's

talk this rationally.

There's nothing to discuss.

You two are never to

appear in any projects

by either of these filmmakers anymore,

ever, do you understand?

- Hey.

Better check your attitude,

as*h*le.

- Guys, please, please, stop.

Come on, seriously?

Subtle, geez.

Look, we're all under

a lot of stress here.

The last thing we need to be

is at each other's throats.

And Bobby, look, I'm your oldest client,

I've been with you since the start,

Santiago's been with you for years.

I think we've both earned the right

to make our own decisions

about what projects we do

or don't wanna be part of, okay?

I want 30% from now on.

This is bullshit.

It's not worth the energy.

(scoffing) Yo, 30%?

Are you crazy, Bobby?

You get 10% for our appearances,

and then you get 15% for any film gig.

Got it?

Don't make demands with me, Santiago.

I'm your boss.

Yeah, and I'm best friends with yours.

Don't forget that.

Geez.

Okay, now let's all take

this temperature down,

sit back down,

and have a decent conversation

about what's been going on.

I see what you're doing here.

It's g*ng Up On Bobby Day, huh?

Well, forget it, I'm leaving.

I want this situation

taken care of quickly.

Whatever that means,

just get it done.

About time.

(door slamming)

f*cking prick.

What a d*ck.

It's Bobby, I just, I'm sorry. (Sighing)

[Cagney] So you two don't know anything

about what's going on?

You can't tell me anything?

Nope.

Yeah, look, uh, Detective, I'm sorry.

I mean, I wish there's

more we could give you,

but, uh, I mean, we, we had

nothing to do with this.

I, I know for a fact that, uh,

Scott, Jim, Jason, those guys,

I mean, they had absolutely

nothing to do with this.

They're good, honest guys.

Nothing to do with it?

What about the hand?

The hand?

sh*t, f*ck no.

- Yo.

- Damn.

[Cagney] Watch the language in here.

Uh, look, they, they had nothing to do

with that either, okay?

They're, they're not,

they're not the guilty ones here.

Trust me.

I never said they were.

What are you getting at?

Yo, if you think we had

anything to do with this,

you're barking up the

wrong f*cking tree, lady.

Jesus.

You know, you two are the only two

in the whole casting crew

that don't have an alibi.

Look, I told you, I was at work.

But no one can confirm that, right?

Listen, uh, ma'am,

he works the night shift alone.

There's, there's literally nobody there.

Uh, I, I know he's a little

bit rough around the edges,

but, but, but he's my brother.

(brother laughing)

Okay? I, he, there's no way.

There's just no, there's no way he did it.

Fine.

I've told you time and time again.

I don't know how many times

we have f*cking gone over this.

I gotta go, man.

I don't, I don't know

anything about this sh*t.

- You will leave when I say

you can leave.

(car engine rumbling)

(car doors slamming)

Dispatch said this guy

was a big B movie star.

B movies, huh?

- Yeah, I think...

- Wannabe actor?

Yeah, I think he, uh,

was a big name in horror.

Some old chainsaw flick or something.

(laughing) Yeah, sounds

like a real winner.

Oh, hi, miss,

I, I'm so sorry.

We must have the wrong address.

Don't be silly.

I called you.

And forgive me, Officers,

I was just getting outta the pool.

Please, come in.

(door clacking)

Ooh, we'll have it in here.

You're Miss Dugan?

Sure am.

What seems to be the problem, ma'am?

Well, my husband and I

have been getting strange phone calls

for the past three days.

And today we got this package in the mail.

Go get it.

Gloves.

So this just came to you in the mail?

Yes.

Interesting.

See what we got here.

(box rustling)

It' just a video cassette.

And this was the only thing in the box?

No, that was it.

What actually is on

the tape, Miss Dugan?

John and I watched it several times

and we still don't really know.

(laughing) I mean, like,

who even has a VHS player nowadays?

You mean a VCR.

Sure, let's go with that.

Well, we have one here.

Well, I should say my husband

is the one who has it.

He's from the old school, of course.

[John] Ah, f*ck.

f*ck.

Excuse me, sir?

My foot.

My husband has Tourette's.

Diagnosed years ago

and has been on medication

to help suppress the outbursts,

but he hasn't been taking it lately.

Hey, honey.

- sh*t.

These are the police who

are responding to our call.

Really? Who cares?

Um.

Good afternoon, gentlemen.

Good day, sir.

And to you as well, Mr. Dugan.

What can I do it for you?

Honey, I showed the officers that tape.

They'd like to use our VCR for a minute.

Certainly.

Use a glove, sir.

We've been handling it

for a couple days, you know?

Well, please, sir, uh,

uh, uh, this is evidence.

- All right.

- And we just don't wanna

get it contaminated any more.

All right, all right.

Ah.

(tape rattling)

Vaseline, Vaseline.

Ah.

(buttons clicking)

(mysterious laughing)

[Leonard] So is there

anything else on this tape?

That's it, laughter.

The hell?

That's exactly what we thought as well.

Pretty weird stuff, huh?

Definitely pretty weird, ma'am.

And the phone calls,

what exactly does the caller say?

Nothing, just laughing,

exactly like it is on the tape.

And that's it?

That's it.

Now, if you boys will excuse me,

I have a nail appointment in town.

Of course, miss, thank

you so much for your time.

Nine inches.

Nine inches.

Nine inches, Vaseline.

Now, Mr. Dugan, we heard

about your phone calls

and obviously just watched the tape.

Is there anyone you can think of

who could be involved in this?

Oh, not really.

Hmm.

Could be a, maybe one of

my wackadoo super fans.

Or maybe a fan of those

"Cruel Summer" films

you've been a part of lately?

Oh, no, no.

I don't think anybody's even seen

any of those things.

At least not to the point

where they'd wanna track me down,

or hurt me, or anything.

You, you never know, sir.

It might be worth looking into just a bit.

It won't do much good for evidence.

My wife and I have been

handling this thing,

our prints are all over it.

We know that, sir.

Mainly, we wanna watch it a few more times

down at the station

in case there's something we missed.

Okay.

Have you been fingerprinted in the past?

Ever?

Ever, ever?

Well,

maybe.

Well, I mean,

I guess we'll just run

you through the system

and see if anything comes up.

It was way back in my, uh, drug days,

or, or years as I should probably say.

Of course, sir, understood.

And, and, uh, your wife,

has she ever been arrested, detained,

anything we need to know?

- No.

No, no, no.

We'll check.

May need to get you both in the system

for elimination prints.

That'll help us out a

great deal during testing.

(tape clacking)

[John] You fellas knock yourselves out.

Also, we'll send

someone over later today

to set up a tracer on your phone.

Okay, have at it,

but kinda keep my name out of it.

I like, I wanna be, I try

to keep a low profile,

it, uh, if you guys catch

what I'm throwing down, man.

(John laughing)

And if you would.

Thank you, sir.

Thank you very much, sir.

Right foot, turd yanker, turd yanker.

"Catch what I'm throwing down?"

Well, he's old.

Damn, hippie.

One thing's for sure,

this is getting a little crazy.

(door clacking)

(car door slamming)

All right, Pop.

So police are canvassing the area

and doing everything they can,

but they don't seem to have

any leads at this time.

Man, I knew it.

Act in nearly 100 Hollywood film projects,

from Oscar and Emmy Award-winning

writers and directors,

and this, this little crappy film

is gonna be the one that derails it all.

Why couldn't we have just done

another one of those, you know,

those rock band films?

Bah, bah, bah, bah, bah

No, instead, I'm goodbye, Charlie.

Check, please.

You know, goodnight, nurse.

No, no, Pop, you've got to relax.

We don't know what's going on.

The police don't have any leads.

It's so new.

I'd say it's way too fresh.

Too fresh?

Too fresh?

A hand shows up.

That was fresh,

unannounced, unattached and fresh.

Police have no leads.

And I've received no less

than four tests and emails

from other "Cruel Summer"

cast and crew members

telling me all about

things they've been experiencing.

High jinks, Tom foolery,

even shenanigans of late.

Oh, no, I'm telling you,

I'm gonna be skin and gutted and filleted,

just like that winning

catch I made up at, uh,

when we went up to Lake Kokomochotski.

No, Pop, I'm worried you're

being a bit, you know...

A bit what, huh?

Look, I'm not fish fry material, Braden.

That's all I'm saying.

You're not fish fry, Pop.

What are you talking about?

Yeah, uh, yeah.

Forget it, Son, all right?

No time to explain.

You're the man of the house now.

- All right.

- Take care of your mother.

- Mm.

- Oh, and remember

what I told you about, you know,

the land down under?

Mm.

(phone ringing)

Oh no.

More misery, I gotta take this.

Talk to me, Goose.

Uh-huh.

Yeah, what?

When?

Nah, huh?

Yeah, what?

Wait, okay, yeah, I'll

be over there shortly.

All right.

Yeah, tell me about it, right?

All right, talk to you soon.

Uh, what, what was that about, Pop?

It was Mattie.

Apparently, uh, some more threats

being made against our little

"Cruel Summer" community.

Mm.

[Pop] And we're gonna have a meeting,

try to figure this whole thing out

once and for all.

Oh, uh, do you want

me to go with you, Pop?

Oh, no, no, no.

I wonder if there'll be snacks there?

(son laughing)

Anyway, no, no.

I don't want you to, uh, come by,

I don't wanna drag our

family more than this

than they already are.

Sit tight and I'll let you

know when I'm, I'm back.

All right, Pop.

Please, be careful.

(bowl clinking)

I warned you time and again, B,

messing with those

low-budget indie productions

is more trouble than they're worth.

These guys are different.

I told you that before.

I mean, Scott and Jason,

they've got a really tight crew.

They're good guys.

Says you, you're just inviting problems

when you do these crappy

films if you ask me.

Yeah, well, I didn't ask you, did I?

Oh, look, I'm sorry.

It's just, look, I know these guys,

and there's just no way they'd

be involved in this stuff.

Trust me.

Trust isn't the point here, B.

You've been harassed by the neighbors,

weird phone calls at night.

You told me this yourself, right?

I don't know about you,

but I'm over this already.

(sighing) Look, I, I appreciate you

looking out for your big sister,

I really do.

But, Dax, sweetie,

I, I like working with

these guys, I really do.

Doesn't that count for anything?

You know it does.

Okay.

So we will get through this together,

like we get through everything, okay?

No one f*ck with our family.

Got it? Okay?

- Okay.

- Good.

So why don't you head on home?

I'll finish up these dishes.

You sure?

You know I am.

Okay.

Good.

Mm, mm.

Drive careful now.

Okay.

Okay.

(attendees faintly speaking)

And there's a hand apparently.

What the f*ck is going

on with this hand thing?

And I got this detective psycho b*tch

whacking me in the head-

Disgusting.

Accusing us of k*lling somebody.

My, my wife can't go to sleep.

She's scared to death.

My boy, I don't know what

the hell's going on with him.

Hey, you guys, one at a time.

Braden.

- Yeah.

Why are you here?

My dad told me to stay

put, but I could not.

I had to get here.

He's drunk, he's a mess.

(attendees faintly speaking)

- Of course he's a mess.

- Great.

That's great.

Braden, you shouldn't be here, man.

- Wait, wait.

- None of us should be here.

Does he have a strong six?

- I don't know.

- And I should've never been

in part two.

- No, no.

(attendees faintly speaking)

Just stay put.

- One was enough,

one was enough.

- I've had it.

- Two was pushing it.

Listen, listen.

All right, listen.

- When is lunch?

He's losing the plot

a little bit, I think.

- Everybody here's

been threatened, am I right?

- Yes.

- Everybody's been threatened

Everybody crew and casting.

Verbally, written,

phone calls, all of it,

we've all been threatened.

Our families have been threatened,

our f*cking pets have been threatened.

And I'm not going for that.

They threatened to k*ll my dog.

And that is not gonna stand.

- Oh.

- No.

- If I find the m*therf*cker

before the police do

- Yeah.

- He's gonna wish

he was dead.

- Oh yeah.

(attendees clapping and cheering)

Listen, shh, listen, listen.

I'm gonna talk to Scott

and I'm gonna talk to Jason,

because that m*therf*cker,

you know he knows more

than he's telling us too.

- For sure.

- So we're talking

to both of them,

we're gonna find out.

- Do we even know

if the hand's real?

- Yeah.

- Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Okay, okay, I don't,

I haven't heard and I haven't seen it,

but the police are acting

like it is a real hand.

- Oh, the police.

(attendees faintly speaking)

- What does the police know?

- They're gonna keep,

they just wanna keep this

franchise going no matter what.

That's all they care about.

- Yeah.

- Yeah.

They don't care if every last one of us,

we're all replaceable, they don't care.

(attendees faintly speaking)

Scott, Scott,

if everyone on this cast died,

Scott would make part five,

he'd make part six.

- 25.

- Yeah.

Come on, no, come on.

He's a good guy.

- He needs us.

- They're good guys.

It's just...

- They don't care

about our safety.

- Who's next?

- No.

- Oh, you guys.

- They're f*cking with you.

- Oh, this is so f*cked up.

This is so f*cked up.

- No, no.

How are we gonna fix it?

I, I, I, I don't know what to do,

but, but we will talk to him.

We'll find out what's going on

and they better have a good

f*cking answer, right?

- Hopefully he'll listen.

- Yeah.

- They better have

a good f*cking answer.

(Scott sighing)

(door knocking)

(attendees faintly speaking)

Scott, thank God you're here.

Thanks for coming so fast.

Where's Jason?

Man, sh*t's been hitting the fan.

Uh, this is crazy.

Jason's on the phone putting out,

stop with the f*cking meatballs.

Jason's been on the

phone putting out fires

with other people.

Things have been going to sh*t

since this whole "Cruel Summer" weekend.

Yeah, I know something about that.

Yeah, I'm sure, what have you heard?

Yeah, you guys found a body part

in your car after the show?

- Yeah.

- Yeah.

The whole cast, they know about it.

They know about everything,

and they're freaking out about everything.

I can't even imagine.

It's crazy times right now.

This is just nuts, all this is crazy.

Yeah, dude, that's why I called you,

'cause, uh, I kinda have like

a sort of a situation going on.

What kinda situation?

Yeah, come in, lemme show you.

- (sighing) Great.

- Come in.

Oh, m*therf*cker.

(attendees laughing)

What the f*ck?

(attendees faintly speaking)

Okay, so, so...

Did it have painted nails?

Okay, shh, shh, shh, shh.

You guys, you guys.

Okay, listen, shh.

Shh, shh, hey, hey, hey.

- Hey, buddy.

- Hey.

- Hey.

- Hey.

I'm sorry.

Hey.

- Ooh.

- About g*dd*mn time

you showed up.

- What was that for?

- Oh.

- Oh.

- What the f*ck was that for?

- Aren't we mad at Scott?

Okay, okay, okay, guys,

you guys, you guys,

shh, shh.

- (laughing) He deserved it.

I know, I know, he did.

But one at a time

'cause, you know, he needs to let us know.

- Hey.

- No.

You listen to me.

I have had it with this.

Every person in here has been threatened.

My dog, Scott,

they're gonna k*ll my dog.

- The dog.

- We are going to back away

from you and this whole production.

I have been threatened too.

How you guys act like I

haven't been threatened?

There's been a lot of

sh*t coming down on us.

Jason's not here right now

- You've gotta...

- 'cause he's handling

all these f*cking calls.

There's a lot of f*cking

fires we're putting out.

I don't know what's going on.

- Yeah, sure.

I know what you guys know.

- For reals?

- Yes.

Jason too?

- Yes.

- He's got no ins

with the cops?

- He has no idea.

I asked him to get involved

'cause he is f*cking law enforcement.

- Right.

- They do not wanna deal

with other departments.

They will not work with him.

- What do we do?

- I don't know,

but this is not it.

You don't get here and start a mob,

f*cking smack me.

Like, what the f*ck is that sh*t?

You deserved it.

I did not deserve,

I didn't do anything.

- You probably deserved it

a little bit.

- Yep.

Scott, you gotta take

some responsibility

at some point.

- You dragged us

all into this.

- Can't just walk away

from it.

- Hey, Rachel,

how's it going?

I haven't talked to you in a while.

Oh, cut the sh*t, Jason,

(scoffing) all right?

You know why I'm calling.

What, is it about

the whole "Cruel Summer"

weekend marathon thing?

You're g*dd*mn right it is.

All right, well, I,

well, what can I do for you?

What do you mean

what can you do for me?

Okay, I am being threatened, man.

I'm being harassed.

Why would you be

threatened and harassed?

You weren't even in any of the films.

Oh yeah.

Well, my photo was, okay?

And apparently that is enough

for me to get put in the crosshairs.

What do you mean crosshairs?

The crosshairs of whatever bullshit

you guys have going on down there.

(scoffing) I mean,

someone clearly has it out for you, man,

to the point to where I'm

on their radar now too.

Look, look, o-okay,

all right, all right.

Do you, do you have any

idea who it could be?

No, no.

I, I mean, I've been talking

to the cast and the crew,

but it, it seems like you guys

don't have any idea what's

going on down there either, huh?

Honestly, I, no, we don't.

Yeah, well, it sucks, okay?

Even if it was just my photo,

I regret ever being a part

of your stupid f*cking movie.

Rachel, Rachel, look, I, I,

look, I, I'm, I'm sorry.

Scott's sorry, I... (sighing)

Look, I gotta get going here.

Uh, if, if, if you hear

anything, let us know.

And if Scott or I hear anything,

we'll definitely reach out to you, okay?

Whatever, dude.

What's up, man? Who's that, Rachel?

Yeah, it was Rachel, man.

She's all fired up.

What about, uh,

did you talk to Skip

General or Jonathan Hodges?

They, I got voice messages from him,

but I, I haven't been able

to call him back yet, man.

I guess we gotta go.

We just gotta move.

- Let's go.

- All right.

- Yeah, we gotta go.

(door clacking)

(mysterious creaking)

Babe?

You in early?

(mysterious thudding)

Yo, babe?

(mysterious thudding)

(pensive music)

Who's there?

Come on out, I had a

freaking stressful day.

I aint got time for this sh*t.

Have you seen my dog?

Don't take one step, m*therf*cker.

(panting) I really need to find my dog.

I know he's here.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

You can, you can find it by

explaining it to the cops.

f*ck.

- Are you sure

you haven't seen my dog?

You're in my f*cking house.

(intruder giggling)

The, the f*ck are you on, pal?

(intruder giggling and clapping)

Are you sure you haven't seen my dog?

There's no f*cking dog, sh*t.

Move out.

(door creaking and clacking)

g*dd*mn, I gotta change them locks.

f*cking weirdos all

over this neighborhood.

Mr. Lilly, this is Detective Cagney.

Um, Precinct 44, ID number 7492.

I, I just wanna have a

little talk with you briefly.

I think you already spoke

to Detective Leonard.

Um, it's just mainly about

Mr. Tepperman, Mr. Schneider.

Just like, uh, how long

you've been friends with them,

how well you know them.

I've known 'em a long time, yes.

Uh, and are Mr. Conti and

Mr. Fetts with you today?

Yeah, we're here.

We're here, hello.

Okay, and you both know Scott and Jason

for a while as well?

Yes, long while.

Long, long-time friends.

And you can attest to their characters?

Both standup citizens

like as long as you've known them?

Oh, without a doubt.

Oh, great guys,

great guys.

- Wouldn't hurt a fly.

Probably I would even call

them like church-like guys,

you know, that's at least me.

Are you sure about that?

I can't believe they would

have anything to do with this.

No, not at all.

And you're 100% sure about that, right?

Like think very carefully

because I'd hate to have

somebody implicate themselves.

Well, I guess, I

guess no matter how long

you think you know somebody,

you know, it's still kind of subjective.

Yeah, does anybody actually know anyone?

And we haven't known 'em that long.

I mean, (sighing) maybe

they could've did it.

You know, now that you say it,

I think they did it.

You know, dude, I'm with you, Rob.

f*ck those guys.

Okay, well, I see we're not

(laughing) getting anywhere with this, uh,

line of questioning,

um, but we'll be in touch

if we need anything else.

I, I really appreciate your help.

Hey, back the blue.

I hope you nail them.

Geez, you think you know people.

(call dinging)

(sighing) Idiots.

Hey, Captain.

I just dropped McGarity off.

I wanted to give you an

update on that house call

at Mr. Dugan's.

Mm-hmm.

Aside from the anonymous phone calls,

they received a video cassette

with the number four on it.

Number four?

The hell does that mean?

Uh, well, I don't know.

Think he might be an obsessed fan

trying to send a warning

to the cast and crew.

Maybe since the, the "Cruel

Summer" trilogy is over,

he's trying to do his like own sequel.

Yeah, I definitely wanna see that.

Bring it on in.

I'll have, uh, Sergeant

Kramer set up a VCR

in one of the rooms.

Expect to see you in an hour.

Right.

(phone clacking)

Crazy.

(glasses clacking)

(cicadas chirping)

- Hey, girl.

- Hey.

Oh.

Here I am.

The night.

Mm, what about it.

It's dark,

but also bright.

It'll blind you.

Yeah, I guess.

Listen.

Listen to what?

To the night.

It's deafening.

Yeah, I guess.

But did you hear about

the, the "Cruel Summer" weekend drama?

Girl, that is some crazy sh*t going on.

Yeah, I'm glad we're not a part of that.

We kinda are though, you know?

Like, just because we

haven't been targeted

like the other guys in the cast and crew

doesn't mean we're exactly immune.

Kinda like guilty-by-association thing.

Exactly.

Not cool.

[Friend] It's not f*cking cool at all.

Did you hear about the blowup

at Mattie's the other night?

I was there and witnessed

this whole thing go down.

Girl, I've been trying so hard

to get these freelance jobs (laughing)

That I've been so out of the loop.

What happened?

Okay, so that guy, Paul.

Paul van Scott?

Yeah, I think that's his name.

The, the tall guy?

- Yeah.

- Apparently he had

a breakdown on video call with his son.

Apparently he had a mutiny

with the cast and crew

Against Scott and Jason.

(laughing) What?

Scott and...

They, they weren't, they

weren't responsible.

None of us were responsible.

Yet everybody gathered at

Mattie's to discuss that,

and he never even showed up.

But his son did.

I guess he was pretty drunk,

and he never made it,

which is probably for the best.

No sh*t, are you kidding me?

Wish I was.

(sighing) It gets so

crazy so fast out there.

Here, it's so peaceful

and (laughing) so serene.

Thank you for coming by.

I, I wasn't feeling well,

I really need somebody.

Anytime, glad I could help.

So, uh, the light's beautiful tonight.

Do you wanna, uh, take some pictures?

Now?

Yeah.

Kelly will be home soon

and I like to see him

before he goes to bed.

Come on, you know the

cats won't model for me.

Well, I guess.

- Yay.

- But then I have to go.

That's what friends do.

Come on.

(cicadas chirping)

(camera flash clicking)

All right, awesome.

Are you done yet?

I'd really like to get going.

All right, fine.

Come on.

I'm sorry.

It's okay.

It's all right.

- It's a really pretty

night though.

- It is nice.

- Mm.

- It is nice, thank you.

I appreciate it.

Watch out for the sticks and sh*t.

Yeah, I wouldn't wanna trip.

Yeah, uh, or something worse.

(pensive music)

What's up, bro?

Looking a little weird there.

This is my f*cking house.

The road's 100 yards to the left.

Just head on out that way.

Who are you looking for?

(cicadas chirping)

(dagger whooshing)

(friend gasping)

(friend thudding)

(friend gasping)

(k*ller grunting)

(friend straining and groaning)

(friend thudding)

(friend choking)

(friend thudding)

(brick smacking)

(dog owner grunting)

(dog owner thudding)

[Dog Owner] You sure

you haven't seen my dog?

(brick smacking)

(car engine rumbling)

(door clacking)

(keys jangling)

(car door slamming)

(wind blowing)

Hello?

Nick?

(light switch clcking)

(sighing) Great, not again.

Are you home, babe?

Hello?

Any luck with the job search today?

Nick, wake up and come out here.

The power's out.

I need you to check the

breaker again. (Sighing)

Aw, what the f*ck? (Sighing)

Oh my God, Nick.

How did this happen?

Who did this to you?

Hey, hey, stay with me.

(pensive music)

(flesh splatting)

(both grunting)

Nick, come on.

We've gotta get to a hospital. (Crying)

(door clacking)

(phone ringing)

Aw, f*ck.

Hello?

[Leonard] Mr. Tepperman,

this is Detective Leonard.

Yes, sir.

[Leonard] We received

anonymous phone calls.

We may have tracked down

your mysterious K*llers

to a shed nearby.

I'm headed there now.

No sh*t, where?

Can I come meet you?

[Leonard] Yeah, bring whomever you want

and I'll text message you

the address here in a second.

Yeah, yeah, t-text it to me.

I'm, I'm gonna get a hold of a couple guys,

we'll meet you there.

[Leonard] Hopefully

we nail him this time.

(car door slamming)

(car door slamming)

(door knocking)

(sighing) Jesus.

Who is it? (Sighing)

(door knocking)

Damn it.

Probably those damn subversives next door

just all hopped up on hooch again.

f*ck. (Sighing)

(door knocking)

Knock it off, you f*cking inbreds.

Jesus Christ.

(door knocking)

(razor clattering)

(light switch clicking)

(door creaking)

All right, I'm in no mood for

any of this bullshit tonight.

You got it?

(dog barking)

(cicadas chirping)

(traffic faintly whizzing)

(paper rustling)

(paper crumpling)

(brush rattling)

Yeah, where is Jonah anyway?

He's out of town on a business trip.

Huh.

Perfect timing, huh?

Yeah, some guys just have that luck.

Hey, guys.

Detective Cagney, where are you?

Wait, who is this?

This is Detective Cagney's phone, right?

Oh wow.

Okay.

Is she gonna be all right?

Okay.

Okay, thank you.

What's going on?

Uh, well, I tried calling

Detective Cagney's phone

to see where she's at,

and a nurse from Briggs Memorial

Hospital picked up instead.

And she's been in a car accident

and is in surgery right now.

What the f*ck?

Is she gonna be okay?

I mean, she'll be okay,

but she's obviously not

gonna be able to join us.

Do we need to call for backup?

Nope, I am backup.

[Horton] Aw, is that

your service weapon?

I never leave home without it anymore.

We gotta move.

Let's go.

sh*t.

(phone ringing)

- Crap.

Guys, what the f*ck?

Can we at least try not

to scare this guy off?

I know.

I'm sorry, it's Hannah.

I've really gotta take this.

Hello?

You're where?

Wait, what happened?

Do you know who he is?

Okay.

(sighing) Just keep me

posted on Nick, okay?

Okay, bye.

Keep you posted on Nick?

What is going on?

Hannah and Nick just got

attacked at their house.

- Attacked?

- What the f*ck?

Attacked by who?

I don't know, some weird

guy with a scar down his face.

She said he's really tall

and she stabbed him with her car key.

She thinks she might've k*lled him.

[Leonard] When did this happen?

Like, just a few moments ago.

They're on their way to

the hospital right now.

The hospital?

How far does she live from there?

Like, she's all the way across town.

That's impossible.

We just saw this guy move

in here a few minutes ago.

Yeah, uh, wait, a, a tall guy?

We had a guy in the acting class

who wanted to get into

the "Cruel Summer" series,

uh, Emilio.

He was real aggressive

and he, he didn't take no very well

when I said it wouldn't happen.

That's why I wanted to come here

and tell you guys and

see if I could be a help.

- Wonderful.

- Do you think it's possible

we're being targeted by

more than one person?

- sh*t, anything's possible.

- I have no f*cking idea.

[Horton] Yeah.

We gotta move.

- Let's go.

- We'll go that way.

(branches snapping)

(cicadas chirping)

Hey, brother, look,

man, I didn't see anything

over there at all.

No, but when they were talking earlier

about some guy with a scar on his face

- Mm.

- That sounded like,

what was his name, Amos?

That weird guy from the theater.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

- Right.

- Well, would you let me in

on the conversation?

You know, give me a little

something to go on here.

Look, yeah, sure, sure.

Sure, look.

Scott and I talked to

the owner of the theater

when we were planning the whole,

uh, "Cruel Summer" weekend.

So you're saying we'll

have two projectionists

dedicated to our event

this entire weekend?

That's correct.

And an on site security guard as well.

That's really good to hear.

We're hoping for a big turnout.

You can never tell.

So it's good to know that

we have ample security

if we need it.

That's amazing, and

William has been doing

all my security for many years now.

- Nice.

- He's one of the best.

- Great.

- Sounds good.

Sounds good.

- Ah, this is Isaac.

He's one of the projectionists

who'll be handling your event.

- How you doing, man?

- Good to see you guys.

- Yeah, thanks.

- Honored to have you here.

- Thank you, man.

- Yeah, yeah.

And the other is Amos.

I'm not sure where he is right now.

Is he around?

Who knows?

He's supposed to be.

I don't know what he's

doing half the time.

Well, I'm sure he'll be here shortly.

Now, you both said you'll be needing

a folding table for the event?

If you have one, uh, we could use it,

but I mean, if not,

we could find something to...

- Oh, no, no, no.

That's no problem at all.

Absolutely no problem at all.

- Cool, great.

- Ah.

This is Amos.

Hey, man, how's it going?

- Amos, how you doing?

- Can I be in your movie?

Um.

Look, we, we just,

we don't have anything

on the radar right now.

Amos, we've talked about

this type of behavior before.

There's to be no soliciting

our paying clients

for any business opportunities whatsoever.

I do apologize about this.

He's a little on the slow side.

A little bit, huh?

I wanna be in your movie.

I-I'm sorry, man.

We just don't have anything

going on right now, pal.

Amos, I won't tell you again.

These are paying clients

who do not wish to be hassled.

No, no, no, look, look,

look, it's all right.

Hey, man, we're just, we're

not making a film right now.

I-If we got something,

maybe in the future,

we'll get you in one.

See?

Now, we had a new delivery in

the back room this morning.

Go back there and break down those boxes.

I truly apologize.

[Jason] All right.

Get back there and

break down those boxes.

(reels clattering)

Amos, I kindly ask you

for your keys to the service entrance.

You are no longer in our employment.

He means you're fired, freak.

Isaac, please.

I...

Now, I won't bother

with security this time.

I'll call the police if need be.

I just wanted to be in your movie.

Yeah, "The Elephant Man," you gimp.

Isaac.

- What?

- Listen, if this

is gonna be a problem,

we can...

- No, no,

I truly apologize about this.

Amos has been working

here for a few months,

and obviously he has some

developmental issues.

This is not his, his first outburst.

But his father was a stellar

employee for many years,

so we also looked the other way.

Well, that's understood.

Yeah, no problem with that.

Now, I'll do my best to find

a replacement projectionist

as short notice.

It's not gonna be easy though.

These reel-to-reels are a dying format.

Not too many projectionists

know how to handle them anymore.

But if the worst come to the worst,

I will personally come

in and revise it myself.

I mean, I know Isaac

wouldn't mind doubling up

on a few hours as well.

Would you, Isaac?

Sure, boss. (Laughing)

I think we're, we're good?

- Sounds good to me.

- Yeah.

All right, man.

- All right, guys.

- Looking forward to it.

- Appreciate it.

- Appreciate it.

- Thank you.

Appreciate it, thanks.

- Thank you, thank you, guys.

Could be that guy,

but, uh, we really have no idea

who we're dealing with here.

(cicadas chirping)

So, here's what we're gonna do.

You guys fall in line behind me,

keep your guard up,

and, uh, just be very careful.

All right, let's move on.

(tripwire straining)

- Don't move, man.

That's a tripwire.

(suspenseful music)

(tripwire snapping)

Holy sh*t.

- Ah.

Hey, get back, hey,

you guys, stay behind me.

Stay calm and stay together

if you wanna f*cking survive

this sh*t.

- Go, go.

He only wanted to be in your movie.

(dramatic music)

(g*n blasting)

Once the final girl,

always the final girl.

Look, follow me.

Stay close and stay calm

if you wanna make it

out this f*cking place.

f*ck.

[Boss] Amos has been

working here for a few months.

He has some developmental issues,

but his father was a stellar

employee for many years.

- Dead?

- Yeah, he's gone.

Man, William was related to Amos?

He worked at the theater and

he was with us all weekend

for that marathon.

No clue.

We even brought him a hand to help us out,

and he seemed very eager to help.

I, I had no idea about him.

Yeah, family, family just

does some weird sh*t, brother.

I, I didn't see this

one coming though, man.

No.

Look, you guys gotta stay back.

I, I gotta call this one in.

(traffic faintly whizzing)

(door knocking)

- Yep?

- Got a package for you, sir.

What's this?

I have no clue.

Just got my name on

it, no mailing address?

Yeah, somebody just dropped it off

a few minutes ago in person.

- Mm.

- I think it's just

some of that political bullshit that, um,

been going around here lately.

But y'all been getting it.

I've had enough of that crap.

They really overdid it this year.

All right, thanks, Sergeant,

that'll be all.

- Thank you, appreciate you,

sir.

(ominous music)

The hell?

(trash rustling)

(laptop clacking)

(suspenseful music)

(mysterious laughing)

Hi, Mr. Rossi.

What time are you and

Mrs. Rossi coming home?

(birds singing)

He's here.

I picked him up from school

I just gave him a snack

and he went to his room.

Grab him and get outta the house now.

Mr. Rossi, what's wrong?

(flesh splatting)

Hello, Captain.

Leave her alone.

Can't do that, I'm afraid.

Please, stop.

Buckle up, Captain.

We're just getting started.

Everything okay, Captain?

Get every available car.

Get 'em to my house now.

Possible 134 in progress.

Hurry.

- On it, sir.

Now, where's that

beautiful child of yours?

He's not there.

Now, now.

I waited all day in the closet for this.

I really want you to remember this moment.

Oh, Michael.

Listen, m*therf*cker,

if you touch a hair on his head,

I swear to God, I'll f*cking

hunt you to the gates the hell.

You hear me?

Save your breath, as*h*le.

Someone wants to talk to you, Captain.

[Michael] Daddy.

Hey, Mikey.

Listen to me, Son.

I need you to do exactly

as I'm telling you.

When you hand that man back the phone,

you run outta the house

as fast as you can

down to the McKinseys'

and I'll meet you there, okay?

[Michael] I'm scared.

Listen, Son, I need you

to do this for me, please.

You hand the man the phone,

you run and you do not look back.

You understand?

Mikey.

- Now, what I'm gonna need

you to do...

- Run, Mikey.

- Hey,

get over here.

- Run, Mikey.

Run.

Run.

He's got my f*cking son.

Are they there yet?

g*dd*mn it.

g*dd*mn it.

Hey, hey, Heather.

How you feeling?

Jason?

What are you doing in my room?

And why are you calling me, Heather?

Because that's your name.

You, you do remember your name, don't you?

Yeah, of course I do.

Good, your parents and I

were concerned about you,

and they, they were the

ones that let me in.

My parents?

Where are they?

Well, your dad went

to get your prescription

and your mom's in the kitchen

making you something to eat.

She should be in here shortly.

(grunting) What, what happened?

Well, it sounds like

you took a nasty fall

in the living room

and you hit your head pretty damn bad.

Dad called an ambulance

and they got you to the hospital.

We just got home a short while ago.

Couple of guys from my old unit called me

and told me what was going on.

I was in the area,

so I figured I'd stop and check on you.

But you, you seem confused.

My name's Jake

and you called me Jason,

and you really never called

me anything other than Fasano.

That's, it's a little weird.

Fasano?

Yeah.

I don't, I don't understand.

Where is Scott?

- Scott who?

- Scott Tepperman.

Uh, look, kiddo.

I don't know Scott Tepperman.

I, see, maybe, maybe

he's a friend of yours?

You know, Scott Tepperman?

He, he created the

"Cruel Summer" franchise.

You helped him produce it.

You know, Jason Schneider?

Jason Schneider,

Scott Tepperman,

"Cruel Summer."

I'm, I'm sorry, I don't

know what any of that is.

You, your Jason Schneider.

Okay, um, I think you

need to relax a little bit.

Maybe, um, get to feeling a little better.

You, you seem, just you seem real tired.

Are you sure you're okay?

Is this a joke?

Jason, you and I have been

working on "Cruel Summer" movies

for over five years together.

Okay, o-okay, Ms. Miles.

Um, look,

I'm gonna let you get some rest.

I'll let your mom know you're awake, okay?

"Cruel Summer?"

(upbeat ominous music)
