when he was four years old.

The first ten years
were really, really hard.

He always probably was feeling stress
and frustration from me

because I was
constantly trying to fix him,

to find the right therapy,
to find the right teacher,

to find the right school.

When I finally started to realize
what he really needed from me

was just to love him
and just to support him

and let him just be who he was,

he just made this complete turnaround,

and all this personality
that we had not seen prior to that

just started coming out.

And to think about him even being able
to conceptualize going on a date

is just so far beyond anything
we ever thought he could do.

-I think I look great. I look great.
-[Nikki] I do too!

So I'm excited to watch him
continue to go on into early adulthood

and see what happens.
