It feels like I'm getting a peek inside
the part of history that excites me most
in, like, the 20th century.
There's like a kinship.
It's like a spiritual walk for me,
seeing all this stuff.
I keep on thinking couture is like
big, beautiful, ruffly dresses.
I go there, and I see
the most beautiful outerwear
I've seen in my life.
This seals the deal for me,
for my idea for this challenge.
I was inspired by the Louvre,
like the pyramid itself.
I will kind of create like a negative space
into brown.
I will then screen an insertion
into something, like a hole, kind of,
which is like a weird word, but a hole.
I mean, if I'm shaping the future
with my fashion,
I think it's important that I am part of
the young generation that I design for.
And I don't believe in, like,
waiting for, like, what,
until I'm 30, and I'm, like, all
no offense dusty and crusty,
and I have, like, a house
and a boyfriend and a dog,
and I don't want to give everything up now?
I think I'm the youngest in the competition.
I did my fashion studies,
my Bachelor and my Master,
in the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp.
It's one of the biggest fashion schools
in the world.
But now, I work at the hamburger place
to make extra money to fund my fashion.
I can sew a dress and make you a burger!
My brand's name is Sander Bos,
and, basically, it just started with me
having $200 in my bank account,
and I was like, look, I'm going to run it.
And it kind of went from there,
and it started growing and growing.
Yeah, and we're basically all over Europe.
I think my aesthetic is ba*ls to the wall.

and it's so funny that we just come here,
and seeing a young, beautiful couple

but that inspired me.
And the minute I took some pictures,
Josh, this cool guy with all these tattoos,
was crossing,
and it gave me a little, nice twist,
like mixing the very haute couture
with the edgy Berlin style.
It feels like being in the right moment
at the right spot.

and all I see are all of these, like,
little diamonds, creating it,
and I'm just obsessed.
For my brand, I think an haute couture look
would be, you know,
a bunch of sequins, a bunch of sparkle,
just a lot of embellishment,

so there's really no time
to just kind of spin in circles.
Working with sequins is my way
of pushing me harder,
because I think it's important
to show a development.

that you worked in a circus?

Stilt walker. Fire dancer.
That's how I learned how to sew.
We were traveling on tour,
and they were like,
"No one's gonna fix your costume."
Like, there was a machine,
a sewing machine on the bus.
I was never classically trained.
I never went to school.
I wish I did, you know?
But I actually started off in the circus.
On tour is where I learned how to sew.
And after that, I started my brand,
SKINGRAFT.
Born and raised in downtown Los Angeles.
I've been doing it for, like,
almost 15 years.
It's dark, it's directional,
it's kind of progressive streetwear.
I make everything in leather.
That's how I do it.
Leather, leather, leather.
It's strong, it's kind of freaky,
it's in your face.
And it used to just be for, like,
circus performers.
Now, watching celebrities
and taste makers wear my designs
has been so thrilling and has helped
to build SKINGRAF
into a recognized brand.
What I do is big.
I think big. I do collections. I do shows.
I do pop shops. I do campaigns.
This is how I've succeeded as a designer.
This is super exciting for me right now.
I feel like I'm at
this very pivotal moment in my life.

So, tell us about what you showed us today.
Well, we went for the inspiration
to the Louvre,
and I saw the new shape of the pyramid,
kind of like the modern-day had sculpted
into something
that was classical and traditional.
And I took the same approach
with my haute couture dress.
So, I worked with the positive silhouette,
and then, basically, the negative silhouette,
I wanted to highlight it
between the legs and between the two arms.
And then I rolled into
the more sellable look,
which kind of also translated the idea
of the distortion of the silhouette,
but then more in a kind of younger way
and a little more wearable.
For me, couture is about to be perfection.
I think with your dress, I talk the big one,
you make an entrance dress.
You cannot miss you. This is impossible.
But I don't like so much the noise
the dress makes when you are walking.
But this is a very French point of view.
I loved the couture one.
I thought it was really cool.

make one showstopper

That is so memorable.
I mean, I definitely will not forget this.
I also love how gutsy you were.

that you created.
Yeah, so, the two fabrics that I chose,
I got the second day,
because I chose different fabrics
and a whole different look originally.
- You hated it and you scrapped it?
- Yeah.

Last critique that y'all gave me,
y'all said really go for it and pump it up,
so I really wanted to switch it up
and go big or go home for this one.
So, once I found those two new fabrics,
I just wanted to make sure
that I could pin it and get it looking good
and kind of do my vision.

- Yes.
We saw that.

The first one. The first that came out.

the whole entire word and
and this assignment,
because we can all pin a wrap.
You really just kind of hid behind
choosing colorful fabrics, you know?
That's not what this competition is.
That's not why you're here.
That's not representative of the skill
and the capabilities
that we all know that you have.
And it doesn't really represent you well
as a businesswoman either.
I loved what I put out there,
because I was so happy that I just did it
and got it, and they ended up
looking so good on them,
and I was just very proud
that it came together
and I had something for them to walk in.

any insight with us?
Well, I don't believe I'm betraying
a confidence by saying
that Martha has
you have a lot of self-doubts.

And those self-doubts tend to derail you.
- And those derailments affect the outcome.

Clearly, you know how to dress yourself,
and you know what your style is,
and you know who your woman is.
And so, doubting yourself
and doubting who you are

Hi, there. So, Jonny,
tell us about your fashion show,
your two looks
that you sent down the runway today.
Uh, my first look, I wanted to take
the idea of a leather jacket
and transform it into my fantasy of what
that could look in a couture silhouette.
So, I draped this, like,
long silk cape in the back
and matched it with this, like,
very heavy jersey, fitted, draped skirt.
Once you walk, it kind of pssh open up.
And my second look
was an oversized cotton kimono, with,
like, a leather, fitted motorcycle pant.
I'm going to be
very honest here again.
I wasn't impressed with your outfits, both.
Start with the second.
That, for me, is like what I wear
when I go to the hairdresser.
And the same with the jacket.
It's just a bit too street for me.
It was not inspiring.
I think you don't understand
the word couture.
For me, it was not couture.
It's a respect towards the word couture.
You can envision it your way,
but you have to keep it at a certain level.
I think that my construction
definitely suffered today.
I kind of feel like that was
the plus point about yours.
I thought the construction actually was
pretty good.

And I think stepping into
