that element of utility, so,
you can snap these off, and then it becomes
like, her casual basketball shorts.
And then it's gonna have a sweatshirt on top
with this element also,
just like for the sleeves.
With these toggles of sorts to incorporate
that same element into the top,

Welcome to our fashion show at Tokyo Plaza.
We are in the heart of Harajuku.
And, appropriately, this is
a streetwear fashion show.
The models will descend the escalator
and pose here on the street.
And streetwear is a huge part
of Tokyo fashion.
And we're excited to kick off
the first part of our journey right here,
with street style.
I'll say.
Streetwear is a billion-dollar business.
Heidi and I thought it was very important
for our designers
to experience this very robust market.
So, for this fashion show, each designer
created a two-look streetwear collection.
And the winner will get the opportunity
to create a co-branded look with Puma!
How amazing is that?

And I have to say, I had
a little sneak peek already up there,
and it's looking very good.

Tell us about your collection.
For my first look, I was inspired
by the Japanese construction worker.
And then when I went to Cat Street,
I saw, like, all these different shirts
with stripes going different directions
mixed with tie dye, mixed with plaid
and all, like, chains coming down.
It was a very, like,
anti-fashion statement for me.
Really expressing themselves to the fullest
and not caring what other people think.
I love both of your looks.
- I love them too.
- Yeah.
I love how they were
very masculine but tomboyish,
and they are super cool.
My brand is gender-free,
so I make clothes for any gender,
any body type.
And this is my this is like my first time
in a long time using color.
I really went out of my comfort zone,
and it feels good.
The only thing I have to say,
I don't know if I could tell
that that was you necessarily.
I'm still trying to figure out who you are.
- Like most people.
- And what your brand is all about.
I think that's going to be difficult.
Heidi, we told her last week
that she had to step it up.

Jonny, please tell us about your collection.
I'm kind of, like, dressing them
like little Jonny Cotas.
I was just like, I'm just going to make them
like little versions of me,
'cause this is my dream of coming here
and wearing streetwear in Tokyo.
I love the first outfit. I'd wear it.
The sheer jacket.
It's black, but then you love
the colors coming through.
Proportions of the pants,
the jacket, the underneath,
the tattoos everything worked.
And yet it was so simple.
- Did you make the print underneath?
- I did make the print.
I love the print,
because it kind of made it sweet, in a way.
- Yeah.
- -Which I like,
because, otherwise,
everything is hard, hard, hard.
I was really impressed
with your looks.
The idea was there.
It was such a modern take on streetwear.
I love these looks.
I like both of them so much.
I loved the head piece.
It was really smart.
All of my friends will wear them.
My followers, most of them,
I think, will really wear them.
It's definitely tough, because
both of you did such a great job.
Yeah, I feel that, like, you guys asked to do
Harajuku-inspired assignments,
and I feel like I really took in
the assignment
and applied what you guys asked for
into that,
instead of sticking with the dark colors
that I'm used to staying with.
You know, I, like, went through so much
in my life to get to where I am right now,
and I'm so appreciative just to be here
and speak with you guys.
I took a risk, and it feels good.
I came here to hopefully get the exposure
to work with a brand like Puma.
I was inspired by Puma.
I was inspired by showing them
a strong voice
that they thought would be the perfect brand
to partner up with for collaboration.

I loved yours too.
But I just loved hers a little bit more.
I actually want to pick Jonny.
You get such a strong sense of who Jonny is
and what his brand is about.

I didn't know, like, your past creations,
but these ones were super eye catchy.

Hi!
Alright, Esther, tell us
about your collection.
So, I took the advantage of this assignment
to discover if I would be able to break down
my very significant style language
into a sportswear collection,
because I haven't done this before.
And as an inspiration, they made me go
to this, uh, monster cafe.
- So, they put
- Who? What do you mean? Them?
Yeah. And I said okay.
So, I went in this very colorful
monster cafe.
Monster cafe.
I took a lot of pictures and turned
what I saw into my universe,
so I switched all the pictures
into black and white.
I wanted to see how a sportswear collection
by Esther would look like.
This idea of strange things happening here
made me do this top
where the sleeve's coming out of a place.
Usually a sleeve doesn't come off.
So, this twisting, playing, but then
still very architectural, very squared,
which is a signature of me.
That's the result what we saw.
I find it very interesting that you go
to one of the most colorful places in Tokyo
but you still bring it back to black.
- You know, there is
- Yeah.
I wish you would have kind of branched out
into the color just a little bit,
or with a print, you know, that you guys
were able to create this time,
so I'm a little sad that you didn't use
that opportunity.
But I have to say, I did love
the pieces that you made.
I loved the flat-front pant, but, you know,
you have it singed in the back,
so, I thought that was really smart.
I just wish there was some color in there!
I do agree with Heidi
that there should be some color,
because you've got to think
of your customer first.
You limit yourself.
Just showing black doesn't work
for everybody.
Especially when
you are shopping now online,
where I feel like black is always harder
to see and understand.
There is gonna come a point
as you grow, for all of you,
when you're going to be faced with,
"Do I compromise my vision
to grow my business?"
And sometimes the right answer is yes,
and sometimes the right answer is no.
I'm not rejecting color.
I just feel like that needs to be
my decision.

I sort of expected
that it would happen today,
because the last two days, I was
forced to defend my black universe.
But I didn't come here to change
the DNA of my brand.
Okay. Sabato.
It's been an incredibly challenging
assignment.
Also because for me to come back to Japan,
it opened a lot of emotion.
Because I'd been living here. I missed Japan.
I didn't come for over 18 years.
All this emotion come out.
And, um
It's where I started as a designer.
I really struggled. I really struggled.
So, I made this dress that Tim loved it.
- And, uh
- A dress that we did not see?
- Yes. And Tim loved it.
- And why did we not see it?
- It did not look good, so, you know
- Tim, do you think it didn't look good?
In many ways, regarding that look,
the message to me was,
"This is an additional dimension
of vision that I have,"
and for me, it was profound.
Profound.
And I understand what happened,
but I really am saying this more
to the judges.
There's so much here.

From the very first day when I met you,
when you showed us, you know,
- your pieces that you brought
- I remember.
I fell in love with you immediately
with your clothes, with you as a person.
But I have to say, today, I was like,
"Boy, oh boy, what is he sending
down the runway today?"
It was this goth girl
that was like I'm like, "Who are you?"
"What is happening all of a sudden?"
You know?
This black mouth and, like
- It was not good today, Sabato.
- I know.
It wasn't up to what we expect of you.
It felt like you were really in your head.
They did not flow naturally.
It felt inauthentic,
and it didn't feel like
the best of what you've done.

The whole situation is sad to me.

I didn't like either dress.
Streetwear is not for everyone.
This one, this assignment was not for you.
And it's I'm just sad,
