Help! Help! Help!
My daughter!
She hung herself!
Help!
Please help!
She hung herself!
-Victim is Yasemin Turanli.
-She's pregnant.
I need your help. Hold her steady.
The topic we're focused on.
Who is the father of Yasemin's baby?
Our suspects are Ozkan Yasin.
Fikret Şadoğlu.
His sons Tolga Şadoğlu.
Yaşar Şadoğlu.
-It's lividity.
-Exactly, livor mortis.
Same thing on her feet.
She was laid on her back for ten
to fifteen minutes after she died.
-Then she was hung.
-Almost like someone tried to make
this m*rder look like a suicide.
-Give me my fiancee!
-You can't!
Police, don't move!
Ozkan Yasin has a record of covering
for the corrupt Şadoğlu's.
Fikret Şadoğlu
r*ped Lale Cetin,
and then he k*lled her by pushing
her down twenty flights of stairs.
And you hid the evidence.
We think the same thing might
have happened to Yasemin.
Sir, are you in some kind of trouble?
You take care now.
Son.
You know I love you very much.
GRAVEYARD
SILENT DEVIL PART 2
What are you smiling about?
Everyone please take a look.
Take a good look at the chief
who you've all been praising.
He sold off his professional honor
and dignity and for what?
For a little bit of money, that's what.
DEAR: ÖZKAN YAŞİN
HE WROTE HIS NAME IN JUSTICE
Gunpowder residue.
He fired the g*n himself.
Önem.
The b*llet pierced his heart.
That's common in police suicides.
That's because they've
seen others who were
left crippled by a shot to the head.
Unit Seven to dispatch.
Haluk.
I'm so sorry.
You're only doing your job,
right Inspector?
You did what you had to.
Bravo.
Great job.
You did amazing work.
Dad!
-Dad! Dad!
-No, come on. Stop.
Dad!
-Come on.
-Dad!
Just for a second, one second.
-My dad!
-My dear, Ozkan!
Ozkan, Ozkan!
NAME: ALEV GÖLPINAR

NAME: NİLÜFER STELN
NAME: YASEMİN TURANLI
NAME: SUDE ÖZÜLKÜ
Eda!
Fired from close range.
A nine-millimeter b*llet tore through the
ribcage and became lodged in the heart.
Berk examined the b*llet as well.
It came from Chief Ozkan's service weapon.
The b*llet's trajectory…
gunpowder residue…
and everything else…
indicate a suicide.
But there's something fishy here.
If Chief Ozkan was going
to commit suicide,
why call me and act like
he was calling his son?
It's pretty weird.
I finished…
Yasemin's autopsy and I used ultraviolet
light to identify another mark on
her throat. See there?
-It looks like the second victim's mark.
-Exactly.
-Wait a minute, so someone choked her?
-That's right.
With a hanging,
there's vertical pressure on the throat.
But Yasemin's thyoid bone shows
only horizontal pressure.
And look here.
I found these on her neck.
Presumably from the m*rder weapon. See?
Gray fibers and glitter.
So it's fabric.
-Clothing.
-Exactly, I sent it to Berk.
Sounds good.
Inspector.
Selin checked all of the base stations
around the mountain house.
She found no evidence that any members
of the Şadoğlu family were there that day.
Same with the security footage.
Crazy.
Ozkan mentioned
something about an old
car when he phoned me,
Serdar.
What could that mean?
Well he did own two vehicles.
Maybe they searched each one thoroughly.
And found nothing.
Maybe.
Mr. Fikret?
Hey!
What are you doing? What are you doing?
-Okay, Serdar, take it easy.
-They have nothing to say to you.
I'm sorry.
Again, sorry for your loss.
Haluk.
Right before Ozkan died he…
That's it, Yusuf. Keep it up.
Good job, kid. Look, look, there's Tolga.
You see Tolga?
Good!
That's the way.
Let's go, Yusuf. Yes, kid. Hustle, hustle.
All right now.
Well done, that's the way.
Okay, come on let's finish it off.
It's all yours now.
Yusuf, keep it up.
Good work.
Okay, that's it, Tolga. Tolga, that's it.
Take it,
it's all yours. Look for the pass,
Firat. You got it. Go, go!
Bravo! Okay, bring it back.
-Azim!
-Keep it moving, move now.
Geliyor!
-Firat, use your size. Use your size.
-Oh, brother.
-Take the shot, take it.
-Rasit.
How are you?
-Good how about you?
-Eyes open, down the court.
Let's say I'm all right.
Come on. Be ready.
Pull up.
-That's the way.
-Good one, go, go. All the way.
Brother, what's up? Is something wrong?
Okay, bring it in.
Tomorrow it gets harder.
Rest up.
Okay?
You too.
Mert.
Hey, son.
You all right?
I am.
What's going on?
We're opening your sister's case again.
We need to talk to you about it.
No way.
Just what are you
expecting? A miracle, maybe?
-Hey, Mert.
-Rasit, I'm asking you…
don't interfere in this.
That day you lost a daughter but…
but I lost my entire family.
My name is Marcela.
I am the daughter of a cleaning woman
in a small village in Cadaques.
My fate and that of my descendants was
pre-determined hundreds of years ago.
Nevertheless,
I decided to confront this fate.
Ozkan.
Here's to you, brother.
Wherever you are.
If Ozkan could see you doing this.
He'd come down hard on you.
Yeah.
He'd sit at the table right there.
And he would say to us…
if I were to die before you do.
I don't want anyone to romanticize me,
because, God forbid, it could--
-Backfire and take you with me.
-Backfire and take you with me.
Sit.
Antonio was a knight who couldn't adapt
to the so-called modern world.
In fact, he was the heir to a pricipality
in Cordoba.
His father and brother
were terrible people.
But they were incredibly
wealthy and powerful.
Despite this,
Antonio chose to become a wandering
knight fighting against evil.
When Marcela asked him why, he said…
"To atone for my family's sins."
That can't be the end.

Nermin.
Can we talk a minute, please?
Yasemin.
The poor girl was trying
to tell us something but…
nobody listened.
What was she trying to communicate to you?
When they tried to marry her off to Rüştü,
she said she was pregnant.
Now they're trying to buy me off instead.
But then Murtaza wouldn't listen.
He just went crazy and he beat her.
Drink.
Okay.
Nermin.
Who do you think is the baby's father?
Probably Yaşar.
They were always together.
Yaşar didn't leave the house much.
He'd either be drinking all alone or else…
he'd be talking for hours with Yasemin.
But I tried to tell her…
not to be so close with him.
Why would Fikret's boy have
anything to do with Yasemin.
She didn't listen to me.
She said Yaşar wasn't like the
rest of them, that he was good.
He'd complain the minute we got here.
Every time.
The appetizers are terrible,
the fish is overcooked.
And we'd say,
"Okay smartass, then let's go somewhere
else."
And he'd say, "No, it's good here."
We've been coming here since high school.
I mean,
it's bad enough in this place just imagine
how they'd treat us anywhere else.
Do you know why he k*lled himself?
You're the detective, Haluk.
And you two were closer.
Yeah but for the last five years…
he was at your side every day.
You were inseparable.
Was something stressing him out?
I shouldn't mention this…
but he had an affair with Yasemin.
I think the baby's his.
DNA report says…
the baby isn't his.
Do they know?
The father of the baby?
I'm sorry, Fikret. I have to go now.
Already?
Where you going?
You know how our work is.
No day, no night.
And no funeral.
Let me get that.
Get it next time.
You remember what he would
say at this table?
You may have gone to
the cinema a lot more.
But I watched…
more movies.
I really should be going.
Yes, of course.
Nermin.
The doctors said the baby
will get discharged
from the hospital in a few weeks.
Thank you,
Önem, but I'm sure Murtaza won't
allow me to take the baby.
God bless you.
There's a darkness that has been tearing
at my soul for a long time.
Antonio inflicted an indescribable
pain on me when he r*ped me.
Good morning.
I made it but I haven't had any.
Thank you.
Selin, you stayed up all night?
Yes, Inspector.
Inspector.
The DNA results that Chief
Haluk took are ready.
Okay, is there a match?
A positive match.
It shows that the baby's father is
Fikret's biological descendant.
Hold on.
Slow down, slow down.
I haven't had my coffee yet.
Say it again, slowly.
From the top.
The paternity results
show that
Yasemin
baby's
father is Fikret's
biological descendant. His son.
Nermin said the same thing.
Yasemin's mother, that is.
She said Yasemin and Yaşar were close.
-Okay.
-So then…
Yasemin and Yaşar's
relationship resulted in her pregnancy?
Exactly.
It looks that way.
Well… maybe not.
Even after bathing several times,
she could still smell Antonio's alcohol
tainted breath all over her body.
The monster…
who got on top of her.
I can't keep reading this.
But to summarize,
the man who r*ped Yasemin or Marcela
in the story she wrote.
Is her good friend, Antonio.
It's Yaşar.
He r*ped her then k*lled her.
But…
if Yaşar was the one who r*ped her, then…
why wait seven months to k*ll her?
The answer is also in the story,
Inspector.
Go ahead.
Marcela
tells everything at the
family retreat in front of all the guests.
It seems likely…
Yasemin would do the same
but someone stopped her.
Well.
Hasan, please.
Let's inform the prosecutor.
Also, Berk. Can you put the DNA results,
autopsy report,
and all the rest of the
paperwork in some folder?
Thank you.
Selin?
Thank you.
Well done.
Inspector.
Serdar.
Police sergeant Selin Korkmaz.
Welcome to the Graveyard.
Mr. Prosecutor,
we have the DNA and autopsy reports and
all the other documents in addition
to Yasemin's story.
We have these gray fibers
and fragments of glitter.
All of which were found
on the victim's neck.
We suspect that the m*rder weapon
was a piece of clothing
belonging to the deceased.
I examined the crime scene over and
over but I didn't find any clothing… that
-matched these fibers.
-Unfortunately.
What you have…
won't allow us
to request a DNA test from Yaşar.
It's not enough.
-Why not?
-Fikret's DNA was
sampled illegally, Serdar.
But Counselor.
Yasemin wrote it all on paper.
Yeah.
They'll say…
she wrote a good story.
But in the end…
the work you did was excellent.
At least we know the truth.
And that is something.
Sir, wait.
Mr. Prosecutor.
My father…
Fikret Şadoğlu and…
Ozkan were…
Well they were close to each other
but we all know my father's gone.
Fikret's always been a wheeler-dealer
who placed value on money over brains.
But Ozkan wasn't like that.
Ozkan was always a smart police officer.
So what?
Serdar?
What I'm saying is…
Ozkan must've…
He would have left something that
would preserve his reputation.
O-Ozkan.
Before he died…
he called Önem.
Sir, exactly.
He spoke as if he was speaking to his son.
Something about an old car like he
was trying to explain something.
You thoroughly searched his automobiles?
Yes, sir.
I searched both vehicles thoroughly.
Every screw and bolt, sir.
There was nothing to be found
Once again, we're blocked by the system,
Aren't we?
Well done,
everyone. To the team, my thanks.
Sorry, Mister Prosecutor. I need some air.
Ahh!
I examined every screw, over and over.
It took over twelve hours.
In fact, it took even more.
It took twelve hours,
forty-two minutes and thirty-two seconds.
Chief Ozkan's oldest car
is a twenty-twenty.
But what is considered an old car?
I mean, how old is old?
A nineteen sixty-eight car is old,
but twenty-twenty?
How old is that?
And by whose standards? And based on what?
And this key is misleading
because it makes…
makes you think of much older car. Look.
Look.
Counselor.
Thank you, sir.
My pleasure.
Is that your son?
Name is Efe.
-He's so cute.
-Thanks.
-We adopted him.
-Oh.
Yeah.
Ten years ago.
His birth father…
was a hit man we arrested.
When we busted this man.
We never offered him any choice.
He could testify or…
say goodbye to his young son.
Spend…
a lot of years in a prison cell.
We shut down a criminal organization
thanks to that guy.
Then?
Later they found him in an alley where…
he was m*rder*d along with his wife.
Things will follow their own path.
But his wife was innocent.
Efe… uh.
He knows he was adopted.
But we never told him who
his real parents were.
I was new at this ten years ago.
I think I made a mistake.
But I'm afraid.
That if I'm put in this situation again…
that I would make the same choice.
Who is it?
What is it you want?
Okay if I come in?
You okay?
If you're asking me how I feel, I'm great.
Want something to drink,
you know where it is.
Look.
Come on look, take a look.
Look at it!
This might be…
the key to Ozkan's blackbox.
That means the one thing we need to do is…
find whatever this key opens.
Good luck with all that.
Hold on a minute.
That's all you brought here.
I mean, that's it?!
Hey, I'm trying.
I'm trying, what else do you want from me?
You want me to beg for your help?
To find out who's responsible
for k*lling your friend?
We all know they forced
Ozkan into suicide.
Help me.
What else can I do to make
you want to avenge him?
What is it you want from me now?
Don't keep silent.
I haven't been silent. I went everywhere.
I talked to everyone around
me about my doubts.
I knew my sister wouldn't k*ll herself.
Nobody listened to me.
And that's why…
our mother died from stress a month later.
Nothing ever happens to the powerful ones.
Nobody can do anything about it.
I don't believe that.
Please.
You're right.
That nobody wanted to help you.
And that they all turned their backs.
But…
if…
there was justice when…
when your sister was k*lled.
Maybe Yasemin wouldn't be dead today.
That's why…
I'm asking for help with this, please.
So that we can save other women's lives.
Fikret…
Şadoğlu's younger son, Yaşar.
When Lale first began her internship.
He was very attentive toward her.
He pressured her to be with him.
He always tried to make her
go out with him on dates.
Mm-hm.
All the while…
Lale resisted.
She tried to discourage him.
After…
Lale's case was declared
closed so quickly.
I…
found myself a g*n.
I found that monster Yaşar leaving
a club alone late one night.
But when I aimed at him.
I couldn't pull the trigger.
Then he grabbed the g*n.
He said that he r*ped her.
And that he took the life of my sister.
I thought…
he was going to k*ll me too.
He told me I had better watch out.
To keep all my doors locked up tight.
That he would…
he'd be seeing me again one day.
Should I park here?
This is the place.
It's been quite a while.
This is Ozkan's uncle's old car junkyard.
Let me guess.
You totaled the car.
No way. No.
No, my friend…
It had already been totaled.
Your father was a tough man.
Ozkan's father was even tougher.
Whatever he didn't want us to find,
like knives, cigarettes and so on.
Understand?
Yeah.
Wouldn't keep in the house.
But hide it right here.
I see. But then…
why doesn't Fikret,
the third Musketeer know
about any of this stuff?
Fikret's father was the most easy going
man that you'd ever want to meet.
Completely laid back.
In fact one day,
Fikret fell asleep smoking,
started a fire.
What did the old man say about it?
Not a word.
Fikret never had any idea
what his father was up to.
The yellow one?
Yep.
Oh my God.
-You were driving this taxi, huh?
-Yeah.
Go on, try the key.
Won't open, eh?
-Just hold on.
-You have to know how.
Yeah?
There's a method to this.
Watch this.
Well I guess there is.
Any dirty magazines?
I wish.
Whoa! Ha!
PD
CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION
I COULDN'T DO IT HALUK
YOU DO IT!
It's up to you now, Haluk.
I couldn't do it.
Huh?
Oh boy.
This is great.
Ozkan, our brother…
has packaged things up very nicely for us.
Three hard disks.
In an evidence case.
This is…
most likely…
the sweater Yasemin's
k*ller choked her with.
The dress that disappeared
in the case five years ago.
sh*t, what did you do Ozkan?
Damn it, man,
you really screwed this whole thing up!
sh*t!
Oh, sh*t, ohhh!
-You all right?
-Yeah.
Are you sure?
Yes!
Who are they?
Ah, f*ck this!
Requesting backup and it's urgent!
All units and an ambulance.
Police officer hit!
Atasehir salvage yard.
-I thought Fikret didn't know.
-He must've found out. Or
else maybe he was following us.
What's so funny?
-Why are you laughing?
-I spent twenty-nine years as a policeman.
First time I've been shot.
-All thanks to you, my friend.
-Is it my fault you got shot?
It's my fault?
This isn't on me.
The one time you leave
the office, you get shot.
Be quiet and get that mirror.
Let me see where they are.
Ooo-ahh!
sh**ter at two o'clock.
Wait for my order.
sh**t him!
-Go, go!
-Cover me now!
Will do.
It looked like you were
gonna start crying.
Huh?
When you were on the walkie-talkie.
-You okay?
-Yeah.
Just grazed.
So what do you think?
Should I give up the desk job, or what?
Better if you don't.
Leave one time and you get shot.
Ahh! He got me in the ribs.
I'll tell you what, kiddo.
We make a good team.
Yeah, right.
Inspector, they were Fikret's men.
In fact, we saw one of them before.
He was at Ozkan's funeral.
-He confronted us, remember?
-I sure do.
Okay.
Let's see what Pandora's box has inside.
Hey, I thought you were resting at home.
Haluk.
What are you doing here?
How are you?
-Feeling any better?
-If anybody asks me that
again, I'll sh**t myself.
All right. Sorry.
When I blamed you for Ozkan's death.
I just…
I want to say how sorry I am.
Okay, Inspector, your team is waiting.
All right.
I am very sorry.
Thanks.
Önem?
We can cancel the interview if you want.
No, sir.
No need to.
I'm fully aware that
it comes with the job.
Haluk.
I'll come see you.
What do we have, Selin?
Pandora's little box is a
lot deeper than we thought.
Starting with bribery
and money laundering,
all of Şadoğlu Holding's
dirty tricks are in here.
And that's not all.
What's that?
-Open it, please.
-Sure.
I request that…
Fikret Şadoğlu and his sons should not be
allowed to leave the country at this time.
Sure.
I'm on it now.
Thanks to all of you.
Good work.
We found the same color
glitter on the victim.
Also…
the stitching pattern is a match
with the design on her neck.
Same pattern.
Did you find the DNA?
Yasemin's DNA will most likely show up,
but…
the k*ller's?
Berk.
What's this?
This?
Proteins,
antibodies, and microscopic organisms,
sodium chloride, and hydrogen.
Tear drops.
Inspector.
These stains, here on the sweater.
Captain, if you would.
What?
Please, come here.
Please. Bend down.
Down.
This won't take long.
What? Am I some kind of lab rat now?
Head down, please.
Ready?
Hold on! Hey!
-Captain.
-What are you doing?
Hey, Berk,
Not so tight.
Considering the trajectory.
The teardrops that landed
on the sweater here…
belonged to the k*ller.
Unfortunately, it's not enough to get DNA.
That sounds like nonsense.
We know that tears would've
dried but these made stains.
How very true,
Captain.
Yes, but in this case,
our man was using prescription eye drops.
The kind you'd use after an operation.
You had eye surgery about one month ago
and you've been using prescription eye
drops since then, correct?
My client's not the only
person using eye drops.
If you have nothing further, I request
that my client be released, Inspector.
We can have this man's tears…
analyzed.
It's within our rights.
Berk?
Is it true?
Each person's eye fluid contains
specific enzymes.
And microbes.
A person's microbial profile…
won't match…
anyone else's.
Even in single-egg twins where
the DNA is identical.
The microbial fauna is different.
You understand?
Extend your hands, please.
The court order includes fingernail
residue as well.
The other one.
Glitter, which is made from microplastic…
can remain on the body for a long time.
No matter how many times
the hands are washed.
Is that it?
Eye drops and…
some plastic?
We can't wait to bring this to court.
We're certain that we're going to find
Yasemin's DNA in the residue of
your fingernails.
You're Nejdet Beydi, right?
Yes.
Finished, Berk? Take it to the lab.
Oh, yeah.
We have this.
Take a look.
What's this?
It's your company,
Şadoğlu Holding's last five years reports.
The company's value has
increased five-fold
since you took control. Right?
Right.
Oh, but.
Yasemin and Yaşar's,
little affair, could have ruined it all.
Isn't that right?
Yasemin was warned.
Over and over again.
To stay away from Yaşar, Inspector.
-But she didn't listen.
-Tolga, don't fall for
this. They don't have a thing.
We do.
Tolga, we have…
a solid stack of evidence
to charge you for this.
We have nothing on your father
or your brother so far.
But we can file charges against you,
right now.
What do you want?
Mr. Şadoğlu, you seem like an intelligent,
successful businessman.
So I'm quite sure that you understand…
exactly… what we're talking about here.
You will be our chief witness
against your father and Yaşar.
We will…
give you…
as much assistance as possible.
But.
On the condition you tell me everything.
Everything…
that took place on that day.
Tolga, they're lying to you.
-Aren't you Fikret Şadoğlu's attorney?
-That's right.
Tolga.
You believe that…
Fikret Şadoğlu's attorney.
Your father's attorney.
Is really concerned with your interests?
Necdet, please.
-Leave us now.
-Tolga, wait.
This way.
All right.
Why did you… want Yasemin to avoid Yaşar?
How about we start with that?
He's a psychopath, you understand?
He was like that as a kid.
As a boy I had a favorite dog.
Dobby.
One day, he disappeared.
In the forest, near our house.
I found his body.
He was mutilated.
I came back to the house with that dog.
Yaşar was there.
He was smiling and staring into my eyes.
I told my father then.
He didn't believe it.
Or maybe he just didn't want to.
I told him over and over.
This madman should be locked away.
I said that he needed treatment.
He didn't care.
Yeah.
The thing was,
Fikret Şadoğlu's son couldn't
be a psychopath, right Serdar?
He appointed Yaşar to the board.
Lale Cetin?
Tolga?
I thought he would learn after that.
I said we should go to the police.
But what did my father do?
He solved it by beating Yaşar to a pulp.
Locked him up at home.
Soon after that…
Yaşar began…
to bother Yasemin a lot.
She wasn't aware of it.
But Yaşar was just toying with her.
The way he always did.
Like he did with everybody.
Yasemin.
Yasemin.
Thought of him as a wounded
animal in a cage.
But my brother was a monster.
I warned her all the time.
She only understood it after
seeing who he truly was.
What made you k*ll her, then?
Yasemin.
Why did you k*ll her, Tolga?
She was going to expose
everything at the party.
She was going to show up there,
reveal her pregnancy to everyone
and accuse Yaşar of raping her.
I warned you so many times, didn't I?
If the truth came out,
everything the family
built would be ruined.
I tried to reason with her but…
she wouldn't listen.
I went totally crazy.
Well, but it was an accident.
When I took over.
You saw the condition Şadoğlu
Holding's was in.
All right?
I was on the job eighteen hours a day.
Me.
Hey, I mean she was just such a
stubborn girl. She just wouldn't listen to
-me.
-I'm referring this for prosecution.
-Hold on a minute. Hold on.
-Calm down. Shhh.
I did just what you asked me to, didn't I?
We're about to make a deal.
Serdar?
Hey, look at me.
We don't make deals with criminals.
Understand me?
Okay, sit down.
Sit down.
Sit.
Serdar.
You know you can't finish me, right?
It is not easy to face shame.
But there is something much harder.
Facing yourself.
How did you convince
Ozkan to k*ll himself?
Son, you know I love you very much.
You threatened him with his son.
Tayanc, right?
Huh?
Fikret Şadoğlu.
You are charged with…
causing the death of Ozkan Yasin.
Watch your head you prick!
You said prick, huh?
This is Sude Ozulku.
This is Can Uzun.
We'll see you for the next
episode of True Monsters.
It's so good to see you again.
So…
-are you ready for the interview?
-Yes, I am, thank you very much.
All right, everyone. Let's begin.
Ms. Ozulku.
-I want to thank you again.
-You're welcome.
And to welcome you to our program.
So, before we begin with our questions.
Would you please demonstrate
that help sign for me?
Sure.
Whenever we suspect that one of
our female friends might be in a
dangerous situation.
We hold up our hand and they do the same.
But even if we don't hold up a hand.
When we see…
this signal,
we know that this woman is in trouble.
And we will act on it immediately.
Mert.
How're you?
Papa.
Baran…
said he lived near where my sister
was k*lled four years ago.
And this is a miracle.
Baran told me he saw a guy covered in
blood very close to the crime scene
that night.
Here.
This way.
Take a look.
You think it could be any of these men?
It isn't any of them.
But I know the man.
A local dealer.
Bulent Tayinci.
Bulent?
Tayinci.
-Bulent Tayinci.
-I'm on it, Captain.
PERSONAL DETAILS
NAME: BÜLENT TAYINCI
As a woman, I'm…
well, I'm grateful for all that
you've accomplished here.
Special Crimes has
made great changes in--
Graveyard.
Special Crimes is located in
a graveyard of a certain kind.
To be clear, I don't mean to suggest that
we work in an actual cemetery.
But…
each morning,
every member of the Special Crimes
Unit has to pass through a hallway.
A hallway that is full
of folders containing
unsolved m*rder case files.
You talk about our successes.
We are not a success.
A year ago I said I believed
things would change.
And this confidence was enough for me.
And I believed maybe things
had changed somewhat.
I was certain.
Until…
until about seven days ago.
As I looked down at my hands
which were covered in blood.
I suddenly realized that…
nothing had changed at all.
My confidence and ambition were keeping
me from seeing what was obvious.
But it's clear.
From my perspective.
Deep inside the heart of our country.
There is a wound that can't be healed.
A darkness that is growing
and spreading like a virus.
We closed our eyes to this darkness.
And kept them closed.
Just because the problem wasn't ours.
But now.
We all must face the possibility that the
darkness hat we thought couldn't touch
us has set its sights on our
children and our future.
This darkness has no intention of leaving.
It will only grow bigger and bigger
until it devours everything.
Maybe you think there is nothing
we can do to fix this.
That it's too late for us
to bring about change.
Well then let me ask you all something.
If we're not going to stand
up and fight the darkness,
then what's the meaning of our existence?
Why are we even living?
It won't be a Special Crimes Unit.
Won't be some heroes like you see on
tv shows who will make things change.
It is you who will vanquish.
This darkness.
That's why I'm taking this
opportunity I was given.
To call on everyone listening
now to make it your mission to…
do what's right.
I don't know you.
Your names, your jobs.
Or even anything about your problems.
No, but…
What I do know is that you're individuals.
And devoted citizens.
So what I do know is what hurts you.
And I also know what gives you pride.
To those who choose to turn
their backs on the evil here.
On the injustice that…
takes place all around us.
All of you who look the other way.
Are just as guilty.
All that I ask is…
please…
be responsible for each other.
I know that so many people listening…
millions of you agree
with what I'm saying.
Please.
We can all be part of the solution
instead of the problem.
Do it.
We can only overcome the darkness
by all coming together.
Do it.
