[Heidi Klum]
Previously on Making the Cut...
For your next assignment, we want you
to create social media content
and a two-look collection
to be featured in your video.
[♪ inspiring music plays]
One, two, three. Action.
[Heidi]
Georgia.
[Nicole]
I loved your showpiece.
It was '60s and Mod
and dreamy and perfect.
I'm so proud of you.
Oh, my God, I'm gonna cry.
- You are the winner!
- What?
[applause and laughter]
[Heidi] Markantoine,
I didn't love your looks today.
I'm sorry, but you're not making the cut.
Jeanette and Rafael...
I didn't find it to be
your best work tonight.
We are divided
on which one of you should stay.
So... you're both making the cut.
Congratulations.
[applause and happy laughter]
[♪ music plays]
Well, it's my favorite time of the season:
finale time!
[cheers]
[Heidi chuckles]
I cannot believe we're down
to our final four.
It's fantastic.
One of you is going to get
one million dollars!
Are you realizing this yet?
No.
Not really.
[laughter]
You have two assignments left.
First, each of you will have the chance
to bring your brand to life
by designing your very own concept store.
[Heidi]
They have to be the perfect mix
of product and experience
to pull the customer into the world.
You will work with
our production design team
to turn your vision into a reality.
[happy reactions]
Wow.
I am extremely excited about it.
I cannot wait to start working on it.
We want you to create a minimum
of four new looks for your store,
and all of those looks
should be accessible.
But that's not the only thing
standing in the way of you
and that one million dollars.
We want you to create
a ten-look collection
that is representative of your brand.
And this is your chance to show us,
the judges,
Amazon, and the world
what your brand is all about.
Oh. My. God.
I wait a lot for this moment.
And after the judges
see your concept stores,
one or more of you...
[clicks tongue, sighs]
...may be going home.
And you will not be showing
your final collection.
Your concept store is four weeks from now.
[Georgia gasps]
You will have a very busy month
ahead of you.
- [Jeanette] Oh, yes.
- [soft laughter]
The good news is
you're all gonna do it right here.
We've rented each of you
your own apartment,
and you will be
right in the fashion district.
- Wow!
- That's crazy!
- [Tim] Fantastic.
- [cheers]
Oh, my God.
Get some sleep,
and then it's time to work.
We'll see you in a month.
Good luck, everyone.
[Georgia]
We'll make you proud.
[exaggerated kisses]
They're leaving us this time.
[Georgia]
Whoo!
[♪ expectant music plays]
[Georgia]
I'm excited.
Don't we just feel that it's
close to us, though, right?
Someone here will be millionaire.
That will create a new future for us.
Imagine.
For me,
one million is six million in Brazil.
[laughter]
This makes me feel sometimes nervous,
sometimes crazy, and sometimes happy.
I need to say, it's a lot of emotions.
This will change my life.
It will be a sad day.
One of us will have to leave.
Oh, my God.
[Yannik] We've worked so hard to be here,
and so intense to be here.
It's one step away.
It's one step away, and obviously,
you want to take that step.
...that you have been, like, rushing,
working like crazy.
Other brands do a collection,
half a year.
Yes. Yes.
[Jeanette]
I saw the show on the TV.
And then, just to think
that now that's me,
it's a dream come true.
I am very proud to say that,
since I decide that I wanted
to be a fashion designer,
I have focused that into just one thing.
I know exactly what I want for my career.
Exactly.
I just need the opportunity.
[♪ vocalists sing energizing song]
We are in downtown L.A.!
This is the view of my apartment.
Look at how beautiful it is out here.
Wow.
Doing laundry.
I'm so excited about this opportunity
to work here.
[Yannik]
Hey, guys, I'm gonna tell you
what I have planned in the concept store.
I like imperfect and broken,
but also, like, very well-designed stuff,
and even if they look
minimalistic or simple.
I also wanted the mannequins
aged and cracked.
[Rafael]
For my concept store,
the concept is very near
to my store in Brazil.
Black or white and chrome and mirrors.
Like, uh, futuristic-y,
but cozy in the same time.
I'm creating an art gallery-style store
that has no walls.
I'm inspired by Richard Serra,
who does these incredible sculptures,
and it makes you have an emotion.
And that's exactly what I want
for my concept store,
is to create that emotion
for the customer--
an experience, basically.
Look at that. That's amazing.
It looks like my drapes.
That should be the front of my store,
something like that. That's pretty cool.
When I design something,
it has to look elegant.
That's what I love, I love classy.
I want you to walk in and say, "Wow."
[♪ techno music plays]
...and wait for my techno music.
[♪ techno music continues]
Look at my mascot, Chowie.
Look at her coat.
For the concept store collection.
Since the beginning,
always a little bit scared
that I'm going to be judged
only using white,
and I want to showcase that
I can work with color.
[♪ upbeat music plays]
[Rafael] Look at this print, guys.
I'm so, so, so proud.
This clock... is that clock.
I need to plan for each piece
how much I will expand,
and how much that piece
is important for me in the collection.
My concept store collection
is totally inspired by L.A.
I'm inspired by my experience here.
The city's so big. Oh, my God.
I see fashion all the place.
And I create print inspired there.
Santa Monica birds...
I had the glamour
from Hollywood Boulevard.
It's like different situations,
and also it's my DNA.
[♪ music plays]
So, for the concept store collection,
it's gonna be inspired on the sunset.
And I'm gonna be using those colors.
And then, for the final collection,
it's gonna be based on the sunrise.
This is where I'm gonna be making my bags.
I wanted to do bags for my concept store.
It would be a dream of mine
to have a bag with my logo on it.
[softly]
Oh, my God.
I cannot tell you guys how hard
my heart is beating right now.
Tah-dah!
This is a jersey print
for my shop collection.
Ooh, look at that!
For my last assignment,
I translated a winning look
into a two-dimensional, wearable piece.
I'm gonna go with that
in my concept store collection.
Work in progress here.
It's the last collection.
I talk with my mother.
Say hi, Moms.
[speaking Portuguese]
[Rafael laughs]
Beautiful day.
My mother is... she's not so good
in her health because she fight cancer
the last three years.
I really work not just for prize
or for money.
This all for me is for her.
[voice breaking]
And... the person
with my love in my entire life
is not so good.
But... I work a lot to be here,
and I know she's very happy if I be here,
and I will fight to stay here
until the final.
[♪ vocalist sings hopeful song]
[Rafael]
The last week before the show...
[groans]
Oh, my God.
[♪ hopeful song continues]
This dress is either gonna be
really good or really bad.
That's what I always say.
[laughs]
[♪ hopeful song continues]
I'm pretty close to the million dollars,
I have to say,
so it kind of gives you the perspective
that you are nearly there.
Oh. My. God.
Last day on this final dress.
I work with all my soul,
with all my heart.
I can't believe this moment.
Hey, guys, welcome
to another night session.
I work crazy-late hours
because my brand is my baby,
and I for sure have never been
so close to one million dollars.
[Jeanette]
Tomorrow...
they're gonna come and pick up
our pieces.
I think I'm gonna go to bed
and wake up at four a.m. in the morning.
But I cannot keep sewing because,
um, I cannot think.
The sun is coming up... again!
Almost done.
[♪ vocalist sings defiant song]
[Georgia sings]
I'm excited.
[Yannik]
So excited!
[Georgia]
I'm excited for the concept store.
[♪ defiant song continues]
- [Jeanette] Hello!
- [Georgia] Hello!
[Yannik]
And we are back!
[Georgia]
Hi, Jeanette!
After four weeks alone, it's actually
nice to be back with the others.
Oh. My. Goodness.
- [Georgia] Hey, Raf! Hi!
- [Rafael] Hi!
- You ready?
- Yes, I am.
[Yannik cries out]
- Exciting!
- I know!
I'm nervous.
[Georgia]
No one's getting their pieces out.
- I want to see!
- [Yannik] You will, you will!
I obviously want to show
my final collection.
I would hate to go home right now
and not--
Do all this work. Imagine.
Magical.
[overlapping happy reactions]
The print went well.
- Right?
- It's pretty.
Hey, everybody!
- Hi, Tim!
- Hi, Tim!
- [Tim] Welcome back!
- [Rafael] We miss you!
[laughter]
[Georgia]
We miss you, exactly.
So, we have been apart for four weeks,
and during those four weeks,
you have been charged with creating
at least four accessible looks
for your concept store.
Then you have your 10-look
finale collection.
I have not seen any of your
concept store looks yet,
but I want to break the rules.
I want to give you the choice
of including up to three
of those runway looks
in the concept store.
Not instead of accessible looks,
but in addition to.
The purpose is
to give the judges a taste
of what those runway looks look like.
So, think about it.
Because someone, or more than one,
will be eliminated in this process.
[Georgia laughs nervously]
This is a great opportunity to show
one or two looks from my final collection,
'cause I have to show them
what I can do.
I'm going to meet you individually
to see your concept store.
[exhales forcefully]
I will meet you there.
- [Tim] Okay?
- [Georgia] Yay! Thanks, Tim.
- [Rafael] See you.
- [Tim] Thank you.
[Yannik]
Thanks. Bye, Tim.
I think we should all put something
from our runway.
I'm not going to put...
It's a risk. I'm too scared
to take the risk.
I'm taking the risk.
[Yannik] I'm not gonna show
any of my runway looks
in the concept store.
I want to tease the judges.
If they want to see the final runway,
they have to get me there.
Good luck!
[Yannik chuckles]
I'm really excited for my concept store.
To see it in real life,
not only on pictures.
They did it. Oh, my God.
Love it.
This is so surreal.
It's so beautiful to see
everything I actually wanted.
I don't have to change anything.
Love it.
The floor is exactly how I imagined it.
The walls as well.
Mannequins are so beautiful.
The cracked color on their surface.
Oh, my God, it's amazing.
Wow.
This is a dream come true!
It's exactly what I wanted.
Super stylish. Minimalism
is very in at the moment.
This is so exciting, I can't believe it.
[Rafael, softly]
Wow.
Looks so good.
I really, really love my concept store.
Looks pretty and cool.
It's like expl*si*n of emotion.
[sighs]
Wow, this is so cool.
I cannot tell you for how long...
[voice breaking]
for...
for how long I have been wanting
to have my own store.
It's even better than
what I thought it would be.
[sniffles]
Yannik, these mannequins are fantastic.
Right?
I told them I want that they look like
kind of old-age.
- And guess what.
- What?
The collection is colored.
Are you serious?
You wanna see?
Neon green.
What happened to you?
[Tim laughs]
- I felt it's interesting.
- Oh, this is a beautiful textile.
It's like kind of a terry.
Raw edges.
It's fitting to the store.
Yeah, it fits in with your brand.
- Yeah.
- Knock me over with a feather.
Wow.
The idea is to have
a neon capsule collection,
which you can't buy it online.
You have to go to the concept store...
- ...to buy this collection.
- Smart.
- And it's what would motivate you to go.
- Yeah.
I'm crazy about this print.
- Yes.
- Yeah.
Thank you so much.
- Jeanette!
- Hi!
Talk to me about the concept store.
Do you know, it's organic, it's simple.
I didn't want the store to be the drama.
I wanted my clothes to be the drama.
Okay.
So, that's why I keep it white,
and the collection has a lot of green,
a lot of red.
The collection is colorful.
Being perfectly blunt,
can you inject more of Jeanette
into the aura of the space?
I need to see it, Tim.
I need to see the models and be like,
"Uh, maybe it's not working."
Well, I just want you to be able
to project as many of your ideas
as possible, from in your head...
- Mm-hmm.
- ...before it's too late to do something.
Yeah.
- Rafael!
- Hi, Tim!
I'm so happy to see you. Hi.
I'm so happy to see you again.
I start the collection.
It's inspired in downtown L.A.
I made the prints.
This print is yours?
- Yes, I made the print.
- Oh, fantastic.
I have my pet look.
So, you're going to put it on this dog?
- Yes.
- All right.
How many total looks do you have?
I have five for here.
[Tim]
Five looks for the concept store.
So... are you putting things
on the mannequin?
Yes.
And what's happening with the ceiling?
This is will be like
if I try with the client
and hang the hanger here.
- Oh, it's for... hanging clothes?
- Hangers. Yes.
You don't have enough to hang. I mean,
you have two looks on the mannequin.
Yes.
Then you're going to have
three looks on the rack.
Three looks, yeah.
- Which is going to look very bare.
- Empty, Tim.
It's just gonna look like,
you know, the shoplifters came in.
[♪ musical impact]
You either have to have
more in the collection,
or you need to reconceive the space.
Yeah?
Oh, my God,
what I will put in this store?
- Georgia, hi.
- Hi!
This is the most beautiful space
I've seen.
What inspired this?
I kind of wanted to make it
like a museum space to elevate the pieces.
I'm crazy mad about the space
that you've designed...
Mm-hmm.
What does it have to do with your brand?
It's sculptural. It's curved.
It has all the elements of, like,
the edges that I do within my collection.
But if I were to match you
with a sculptor...
Mm-hmm.
I don't think it would be someone
who's this minimal.
I thought I nailed it initially.
I thought this would show...
- It is beautiful.
- ...my sculptural aesthetic.
But...
it is what it is.
Do you think I should be scared?
- There's going to be an elimination.
- I know.
- So...
- I'm slightly worried.
Well...
Sorry.
I don't mean to bring you to tears.
No, no, no. Sorry.
I just don't want to be eliminated.
Own it. Own the austerity.
I like ownership of existing conditions
as opposed to making excuses for them.
Yeah.
How do you own it?
[troubled sigh]
[sniffles]
It's just tough, you know?
I might be going.
[Rafael]
What's happened?
[Georgia]
The space wasn't good enough.
- Oh, you.
- No, it's gonna be good.
It's one opinion, it's one opinion.
It's very sculptural, like your pieces.
It's good.
He thinks it's too minimal,
and maybe not my style, but I think it is.
- You wanna cry. It's... it's good cry.
- Yeah.
Re-re-renew our inner...
You need to sell it.
If you love it, you can sell it.
- All gonna be okay.
- Yes.
I was gonna do one runway piece
to show there is something coming.
- Yeah, show... show...
- I think the blue, the blue is so strong.
[Georgia sighs dramatically]
[Georgia]
The hardest thing is being judged
and then, if it doesn't go well,
you're like, your whole soul
is on the floor.
[Yannik] It's your art
going to be judged.
- It's not easy.
- No.
You're not leavin'.
[♪ beat-driven music plays]
[Rafael] After I talked to Tim,
I decided I want to put
three looks from the runway
in the concept store.
You can runway for me, please?
Yes.
Bom bom. No, I love this.
[♪ beat-driven music plays]
- [taps surface]
- Love it.
This piece is gonna fit perfectly
in the concept store
because everything is raw and imperfect.
[singing]
Love it!
It's cool, no?
- Yeah, you think it's better?
- Yeah.
With my Tim Talk,
he didn't love my store, I guess.
But it's not finished yet,
and I already like it,
so... I think I'm okay.
Ow!
Say goodbye to Georgia Harding!
[Yannik]
Don't be so dramatic!
[Georgia] We're in the end.
There's no room for f*ck-ups!
I just have to pull my sh*t together.
We've been away from our families,
fighting to be here
and working towards a goal.
Just the idea of not showing
your final collection
and being here for so long
would just be heart-wrenching.
[sighs]
[♪ vocalist sings sultry song]
[Georgia]
Yeah, cool.
So, we can do the arms first.
Tim thought my concept store
was too minimal.
Even though I love the minimal art space,
I get what Tim is saying,
so I'm plaster-casting a piece of art
for the concept store.
Having something like this will really
bring the pieces to life, I think.
Such grace.
- Good morning.
- Buenos dias, amorcita.
Did you rest?
- Not really.
- Not really?
Okay. That looks cool.
I quite like it.
This plaster sculpture shows
how the garment comes from art.
Can you tilt it to one side just, uh...
yeah, a bit more?
I put something together
that I'm proud of.
There. That's perfect.
[Rafael]
Cover up those top.
I feel very tranquil now, and...
I just need to finish some details,
but I want that they can feel my energy,
my vibes, and my DNA.
Oh, my God, we are so close
to be a millionaire,
and that is incredible.
[♪ beat-driven music plays]
This time I want to show more
easy-to-wear clothes because I have
been doing a lot of gowns,
a lot of nightwear.
So, this time,
I wanted to challenge myself
and do very simple,
beautiful dresses.
I want the judges to feel
that it is so recognizable
that this is me,
and the beauty
that comes with imperfection.
But it's perhaps not
pretty enough for them.
Not everybody likes that,
and that's a little concerning.
I worked really hard
in doing the finishing touches.
I think Tim was right
in giving me that push
to elevate it a little bit more,
and I think I've done
a good color palette.
Let's just see.
Well, hello, Final Four.
It's a very critical juncture
in this journey
to find the next great
global fashion brand.
And I have to say,
you've really pulled the stops out.
I was a little nervous,
and I'm feeling very placated now,
and actually quite excited.
Be secure in what you've done
and what you've achieved,
and feel very proud because I do.
- Okay?
- Okay.
I love you all.
- [Rafael] Thank you, Tim.
- Thank you, Tim.
- [Rafael] Thank you.
- [Georgia] Bye, Tim.
[♪ funky music plays]
[Heidi giggles]
Ah, it's so fun! Here we are
all back together again!
Welcome back, Christine.
It's so good to see all of you again.
I'm so excited that you find the time
to actually come here and help us
make a decision together.
I can't wait to see
the beautiful fashion.
Thank you so much. All right.
Let's go check it out.
I'll bet their little knees are shaking
like little leaves.
- They better be!
- Ah.
[♪ expectant music playing]
[Heidi] Ooh-la-la
La la la la la la.
Hi, everyone.
[Yannik] Hello, guys.
Hi, Heidi, love your look, in white!
- [Jeremy] A Rafa store.
- [Rafael] Oh, my God.
[Jeremy] How are you?
I'm good. I can't believe
I'm having you here.
- This is amazing.
- I know! We're in your store.
- Yes.
- This, we have to discuss.
Really, do you know Chowie?
- He's my mascot.
- Yes!
Hi, Yannik, I'm Christine from Amazon.
- Nice to meet you.
- Nice to meet you as well.
I really need to impress
Christine Beauchamp.
She likes pretty and beautiful,
and I'm not sure if my concept store
will match with her taste.
It is a concept store.
Um...
[nervous chuckle]
I can see how Yannik--
I have to give you a little hug.
I can see you shaking like
a little leaf when you're talking.
- I can feel it.
- Always when I see you!
I can see your little mouth, it's like...
[imitates rapid vibration]
Which I think is so sweet
because you look at Yannik
and you think, like, he's this strong guy.
But it's humbling to see
when I see you being so nervous
- because I know how much...
- It's important, though.
- ...it means to you.
- Yeah.
I love this fabric.
The hand feel is amazing.
I think you could do so many things
with this fabric:
colors, printing on it. It's great.
You know, when I look at this,
I feel like Yannik is right now.
Thank you.
And I want to have
a little bit of that too.
Maybe I can't be head to toe
like you, but I can find
one or two pieces from you,
work it within what I have,
and then I feel like I could be
a little cooler, too. You know?
Saying that...
I mean, a pop-up store
without a goodie bag
wouldn't be a pop-up store opening.
And that is, like, a nice, big goodie bag.
- It's a part of the collection event.
- Thank you.
Yeah.
What emotions are you
trying to evoke from customers
when they walk in your store?
I like if people think, have to think why.
So, you get, like, a relationship
with something.
It's not just pretty, you have to think.
And... yeah.
I'm very impressed.
And this is actually the invitation
for tomorrow's runway.
- [gasps]
- It's engraved with the date.
- I love the idea!
- That is so cool!
It's right here.
Yes.
That is creative and fun,
and really relevant.
I heard maybe you had a few of your
runway pieces here today. Is that right?
- I don't.
- Why?
Because my idea was, if you want
to see it, you know what to do.
That's ballsy!
I know!
- I love that little smirk.
- Yeah.
Being here in L.A. really inspired me,
and I really worked to do
something really accessible
for this store.
This is like the moment,
a little Malibu after the beach,
and this is my loungewear
for during the morning.
I wake up.
I have, like, drink with my friends.
You will receive your friends
for a breakfast.
Yes! I also think morning loungewear
is so important.
- It's crazy that you said that.
- Yes!
You could also do this
with nothing underneath,
this morning loungewear,
depending on who's coming over.
To me, I'm like, say no more, I got it.
- Aw, thank you, Nicole.
- Yeah, I really feel it.
It's very smart to actually have
real models in your store.
You know, I need it
because my clothes is so drapey,
that it looks better on the model.
So, if I really wanted to show it,
I have to bring them here.
- Yeah.
- Most of the time...
I always present, like, nightwear,
like more sophisticated, like,
gowns and stuff like that.
But this time, I wanted to do
a very simple dress
you can go and buy in Amazon.
It has a beautiful print.
Let's check it out.
I love the mirror cut out like that.
- Thank you.
- It's very cute.
I wanted to see
how Jeanette Limas looks in men's.
And I also made bags.
Any fashion designer
wants to be able to...
Yeah, of course. Have your own purse.
- No, it's good.
- In one day.
It's fun to do a red bag,
because a red bag, look--
[Christine]
It really pops.
I mean, it would go on you too.
It's like a red bag is always great.
I love your use of color and print.
How do you decide how many colors to use
and how do you pick your color palette?
So, one day the sun was in my face...
and it woke me up, and I said,
"This is the inspiration
for the collection. That's it."
All the colors just came from there.
I knew that when people
walked in my store,
I wanted them to look up.
That's why I put the mannequins hanging.
I wanted them to go in and say...
wow.
I can feel the emotion
and the heart in it.
Yeah.
So, I wanted to create
an art gallery space,
so I created these walls,
and then I made a plaster sculpture
to create my own art, and then have
a shoppable piece as well.
Oh, my God. By the way, obsessed.
- [Georgia laughs]
- I love this.
[Georgia]
Thank you!
I love the concept of
the actual sculpture and this.
You also have something people
tangibly could take, wear,
have, own, purchase,
all of those aspects.
And you're doing it,
and that to me is where you become
a really successful designer.
Thank you.
So, is this piece part of a preview?
- This is a preview, absolutely!
- I'm so curious, I have to tell you.
This is so exciting.
[Nicole]
It really is.
- I love this. I love the color.
- This is beautiful and new and cool.
- I love the shape.
- Yeah.
And, as avant-garde as it is,
I could see you doing this
for her proportions
and it being like,
"Yeah, here comes Nicole."
Well, because you've managed
to still accentuate the body.
- I'm so into this.
- Yeah.
I'm so grateful
for your kind words, honestly.
[laughs]
- Hi, Rafael!
- Hi!
- I love this. What is this?
- Yes, sit, please.
- Did you make-- did you make this too?
- Yes, I made it. [chuckles]
- I want this at home!
- [Rafael chuckles]
So, here I arrived in Hollywood Boulevard.
And I saw in this fabric
the stars of the street.
Ohh!
This is go to the street.
Mm.
Oh, my God, I can't believe it--
Heidi wearing my piece!
Ah, but it's good.
It goes with my outfit.
And here, the red carpet moment.
- [Christine chuckles] Wow!
- That took a lot of work, that dress!
- Yes.
- Yes.
- Wow! I love this.
- Yeah.
It match with the bag, you can see.
- I think it goes with my outfit.
- Yes!
It's stunning!
This is a little piece of my runway.
- It's beautiful.
- Oh, my God, thank you.
What I like about what I see
in your store
is it's definitely
clearly your point of view.
- Yeah.
- But you have a nice mix of looks,
from maybe more casual to more dressed.
- Well done.
- Thank you.
Thank you.
It's a beautiful color palette.
I love the way it looks on you.
It is, it's a beautiful color palette.
Which is a great testament to show
when people say that Maison Blanche
can only be blanc.
[speaking French]
It's not true!
We can have a little bit of green,
a little blue.
No, it's really smart. This was
your way of bringing in color,
which I think is so great.
Very cool, how you play with color.
- It's very uniquely you.
- Yes, yes, it is.
Thank you.
Can I go look in the dressing room?
- Sure.
- Okay.
We're gonna take a little private photo.
[camera shutter snaps]
Tell us the vision for the store,
to start.
So, the idea was to create
an art gallery space,
and I wanted to make sure
that my pieces pop.
And then, I've made a print
which is made out of cutouts,
and obviously this is a kind of
a flattering shape.
- Is this your own print?
- Yes.
I always think of the customer
at the forefront,
so I do size-diverse pieces
that have a lot of elastic,
so it can fit lots of different sizes
within the size range.
For example, this.
This is your signature.
I mean, I recognize it immediately
that, you know, that is you.
It's all machine washable.
Well, I think you're hitting on a number
of things that customers love:
a machine-washable,
casual but chic style is really relevant.
It's really important
to impress Christine, obviously.
She seemed really into the store.
It went better than I thought.
Okay, so what's the concept
of your store? Tell us about it.
I wanted the store to be elegant...
- Yes.
- ...clean...
minimal, sophisticated.
I wanted to make more casual,
wearable pieces
that you can find in Amazon.
Okay.
But before I-I keep talking,
I have some piña coladas for you guys,
all the way from the Dominican Republic.
[Nicole] Whoa!
- Oh, guys, salute.
- Thank you.
- Cheers.
- Cheers.
I have been known
to spend money when I'm drunk.
- Oh, really? Okay. Now let's spend!
- So, it's smart. I like that.
You know how much I love
to sell dreams and drama,
but it's very, like, sophisticated drama.
Yes.
And I make men's pieces, like...
[Jeremy]
Oh, wow.
Now, this red is what I think of
when I think of you.
By the way, I love these.
- Yeah.
- Love these pants.
So, I put it on my husband.
He came to visit me. He looked hot.
Ooh!
But I took it, and I did my best
to just pop out in the clothes.
Well, you did a wonderful job,
you really have.
[♪ dramatic music plays]
I'm giving everything I have.
Emotionally,
when you're giving so much,
everything is on the clothes.
So, I think that I have shown
that I want this
not just by talking, but...
my clothes, I think my clothes is yelling,
"I want to stay."
[Yannik]
All four of us worked so hard
one month to show our final collection,
and someone is going home.
Someone is not able to show
what we worked for a whole month,
so I'm nervous.
[♪ dramatic music]
Isn't it so amazing?
When you come to the concept store,
it gives you, like,
an overall point of view.
There was a lot of range,
which was exciting to see.
Let's talk about Yannik.
I love how he has the cracks
with the light coming through.
I love that store the most.
[Jeremy] The collection looked great.
The print looked great.
It was definitely a beautiful store,
excellent execution.
But there were only a couple of pieces
that were really wearable.
Some of the silhouettes were very boxy
and not necessarily
going to be flattering.
What about Rafael?
Rafael is my favorite.
I was just down for the ride
and the lifestyle.
- I loved it.
- [Heidi] I love his joy.
I love all the new and different things
that he creates.
It's really him.
I felt like this environment was the one
that really wrapped you
into his personality.
- It was bold...
- Yes!
...it was exuberant, it was luminous.
And here there were
a lot of wearable pieces
where he was thinking about
the woman inside the clothes.
This store's very fun, but it
doesn't feel exactly new to me.
But it's almost so retro in a way
that it is new again.
I don't think it's bad,
I just don't think it's the best boutique.
I think both Rafael and Yannik
created environments
that framed their clothes,
their personalities,
and then a lot of interesting pieces
and modern interpretations.
Jeanette, I was a little bit surprised.
I feel like it was hard for her to hone in
what it is supposed to be in a way,
you know?
She kind of did a little bit
of everything.
And also not enough.
When you've got this square of space,
every inch should feel like something,
and I didn't get that from her.
The piece is not now, also.
She's trying to give a range
'cause she's given us things
that are unbelievable.
She's shown us some silhouettes
where I'm like...
I think that should be on the hangar,
and the red should be on the mannequin.
- Yeah, it's just hanging there.
- Like, that's what it feels like to me.
- Choices. It's all about choices.
- You know? It's just choices of like...
I agree with you that there are some
beautiful pieces, really wearable pieces,
I just didn't get the whole thing
pulled together until she described it.
- Yeah.
- But I felt such potential in her.
She's such a talent.
Let's talk about Georgia.
I love this store.
I felt the shape,
she did it so beautifully.
And I love the shape of the walls,
that she didn't do straight walls.
Okay, so she loves art. Fine.
- But so do I.
- She loves art and she loves movement.
But let's talk about the gloves!
Who are they for?
You have a very valid point
in what you're saying there.
Those gold dresses that...
hanging on the...
I agree. Those were beautiful.
But I don't see any of that in here.
You wouldn't wear the white tee-shirt
with a pair of high-waisted
black men's trousers?
I mean, uh, yeah,
but I'm not excited about it.
Would you wear the look on the mannequin?
[Heidi] That's the only thing
that was exciting for me.
I was like...
[exaggerated vocal effects]
But then maybe she should be
doing that more
because wearable clothes,
I don't know who's wearing this,
I don't know what era we're in.
She seems to shine
when she's doing this more dressed,
theatrical, beautiful look,
but I do like that she could be
appealing to customers
of many different body types.
I prefer Jeanette's store.
The clothes feel more special.
I do think that, uh, the two stores
that were maybe less evocative
and complete,
you probably have to think about
their full body of work...
Yeah.
...and the potential inherent in the ideas
that they were talking about
in their stores.
[Jeremy sighs]
[♪ dramatic music plays]
I think I'm gonna leave it
to you all to debate.
It's gonna be tough to make a decision.
- [Tim] Hi.
- [overlapping greetings]
[Heidi]
All right, our final four.
How are you all feeling?
- Nervous.
- Nervous. Anxious.
Excited and nervous.
It was really fun for us,
seeing your design aesthetic
and turning it into a concept store.
Some of you nailed it.
Some, maybe not so much.
The winner of Making the Cut
will receive a mentorship
with Amazon Fashion,
a chance to sell a collection
in the Making the Cut store,
and one million dollars!
Ooh!
[giggles]
To take your brand to the next level.
And it's so close, guys.
So close.
One out of the four of you
will be the winner.
We discussed each of your stores,
and based on this,
we made some decisions.
But they're not necessarily final.
Yannik, we're gonna talk to you first.
Hey, guys.
I wanted to showcase
that my concept store,
that it's different from everyone else.
I think you are cutting edge.
I think you are "right now."
I think you're even into the future.
That is what excites me.
And I love that you're open-minded
to not just be in this white universe,
and I think also that is very important
to Amazon and to Christine
that you also understand
people also want other colors.
As a designer, you have to evolve,
so, yes, I wanted to show
that I have been growing in this process.
I really love the way that you use color.
You were able to bring this other
element into it,
without losing yourself.
I thought that it was really beautiful.
Thank you.
I think your store
completely reflects the vision
you've been showing us
of who you are as a designer.
The mannequins. The cracks.
It was a perfect showcase
for your designs.
Across the board,
a success for you today.
Thank you.
I really appreciate it.
Yannik, congratulations,
you are moving forward to the finale.
I'm really excited.
Ohh.
We want to talk to one more designer
to decide who will win.
- Thank you.
- Thank you, guys.
Rafael, can we talk to you next?
For the concept store, I want to bring
just white and black,
and...
I'm nervous, sorry.
I loved your store.
You were taking me on a journey.
Okay, here's your glittered
morning loungewear look.
And I was like, Okay!
And then we're gonna go on a red carpet.
I thought the pieces that you showcased
were just the right pieces.
It was so you.
[voice breaking]
Thank you, Nicole.
You had all your lifestyles going,
even pets.
The dog k*lled me.
I like this kind of '70s,
'80s funky boutique
that I would have seen in Paris.
The boutique that we all love
to spend hours in
because there's always
something else you're gonna see.
Rafael, congratulations,
you are moving forward to the big finale.
- Thank you.
- [Heidi] Congratulations.
Yannik, will you come forward again.
Thank you.
Nicole, who do you think should win today?
[sighs]
Rafael.
He... made me dream.
[soft chuckle]
Thank you.
I love both of you.
I really do. And I love your clothes,
I love what you're all about.
I'm gonna pick Yannik.
[softly]
Thank you.
Jeremy, it's one to one.
Who do you choose?
Taking in the whole package of the store
and the collection, today...
I'm gonna choose Yannik.
[Rafael]
Yahh!
[Georgia]
Yay!
- [Heidi] Congratulations.
- [Jeanette] That's amazing.
Thank you.
- You deserve it.
- Thank you.
You do deserve it.
Congratulations to both of you.
And Yannik, you will have
a winning look and companion pieces
in the Making the Cut store on Amazon.
- Yay!
- [Heidi] Congrats.
Congratulations.
[Rafael chuckles]
Georgia.
I presented to you my concept store
which was inspired by an art gallery.
I very much enjoyed your store.
You do have a very specific eye.
You really do show the body
in a very specific way,
and it's very specific to you.
And I can see women going
to your store for that.
Sometimes I wonder if it it's
a little too one-note,
but I will speak to the store--
I thought the store was beautiful,
and I loved your little sneak peek piece.
It made me excited to see what you
could potentially put out
on the runway.
Love the sneak peek!
[soft laughter]
Thank you.
[Jeremy] Thought that piece
was elegant but radical.
It was like, Whoa, what's going on?
My curiosity is completely baited.
That means the world to me,
Jeremy, thank you.
[soft laughter]
I did not love your store that much.
I think I was probably
the most quiet in your store.
I just didn't find enough things
to say, I guess.
To me, the store is not,
for me, a million-dollar brand.
Right.
Georgia, before we make
our final decision,
we're gonna talk to Jeanette.
Yeah. Thank you.
I wanted to do something very elegant,
sophisticated, something different.
I want my customers to buy
everything from me.
I want them to go to bed,
maybe in the future, using my pajamas,
and waking up in the morning
and-- and drying their faces
with my towel that I will design as well.
I want all of that.
You have a lot of energy
and a lot of enthusiasm
around what you're doing,
but if you want people to go to you
not only for the gowns,
for a tee-shirt and a towel,
I don't think you should put
an accessible look
on your mannequin.
The jacket and that whole menswear look,
it was the brightest color in the store,
and it was, like, shoved in a corner.
[Jeanette]
Mm-hmm.
I wanted it to be out there
on those mannequins
to pull me into the store...
- Mm-hmm.
- ...but I didn't get that.
Okay.
[Heidi] You know, yes,
you make beautiful dresses,
but when I go in there, I'm like...
I don't feel the brand in there.
Okay.
You love making women look beautiful,
and customers do love that,
and I understand that.
But you need to give us
a clear vision of who you are
and what your brand is all about,
and I have a hard time feeling that.
I think you're an outrageous talent.
The store was...
I think you-- it could have had more.
Even those-- the shapes you had,
what if they were more 3-dimensional,
still having your draping.
I think it could have still been more.
But... I'm a great designer.
- You are, you are.
- And I have a lot to offer.
I'm gonna get it done,
if that's the problem.
You know? Like, I got done
when I didn't know how to sew,
when I didn't know how to cut,
when I didn't know English.
I got it done.
So, I can do the same thing
if you give me the... opportunity.
[Heidi]
Thank you, Jeanette.
Georgia, will you please
step forward again.
[♪ dramatic music plays]
Before we tell you who we would
like to see moving forward,
I'd just like to say that...
all of us think that you
are extremely talented
and that this is not very easy for us
because we know that
this is a game-changer
for your career,
so we don't take this lightly.
Each of us has to choose one person
we want to move forward.
The person that I would like
to see moving forward is Jeanette.
[Jeanette, softly]
Thank you.
[Heidi]
Nicole...
[Nicole sighs] I don't want
to make this decision at all.
Georgia.
And, I'm sorry, Jeremy, but we are three,
and someone has to be last.
I think you both are really special,
I think you both have a unique voice.
And... this tears me apart.
I'm doing this thinking really
about this assignment
and thinking about the store
because it's hard to...
[sighs]
...separate all the things I know
about you both.
I'm going to go with Georgia.
[Georgia sighs]
- [softly] I'm sorry.
- It's okay.
[♪ poignant music plays]
I love you.
[♪ music continues]
Jeanette... I think the world of you.
You're so talented
and such a beautiful voice.
I just want you to know that this
doesn't mean I don't believe in you.
This doesn't mean that your future
is not bright.
I understand.
And I can feel it.
That's the more important thing,
I can feel it.
And this is just the start.
This is not the end.
This has been the best thing
that happened to my career,
so thank you for the opportunity.
Thank you.
Thank you.
All the best to you.
Thank you, guys.
[Rafael] Thank you.
Give me a hug, please.
- [Yannik] We are all going for a hug!
- [Jeanette laughs]
[Jeanette]
I love Making the Cut.
This is a family.
I feel like I'm gonna have
you all guys forever.
And it changed my life.
It changed everything for me.
[Tim]
I'm the president of your fan club.
[Jeanette]
Ohh.
We love you.
And we're gonna hear tons from you.
I'm gonna make my husband proud,
and my family, my family so proud.
[Heidi]
Bye, Jeanette!
[Jeanette chuckles]
Bye-bye!
[Nicole]
Bye, Jeanette.
[Jeanette chuckles]
Bye.
[Jeanette]
I gave my all to everything I did,
and that's why I am leaving,
but I'm leaving very happy and very proud.
Georgia, that means
you're making the cut.
Congratulations.
- Thank you so much.
- I'm very happy for you.
I really appreciate it.
I can't wait to show you
what I have in store.
- Thank you, Georgia.
- Thank you.
[♪ hopeful music plays]
[Heidi]
Well, here we are--
the final three.
Yes!
Oh, my God, I need a stiff drink.
I'm sorry that you were
in the hot seat at the end.
Whoof!
[laughter]
[♪ end music plays]
