Newly promoted DI Rachita Ray takes on a case that forces her to face a lifelong personal conflict.

02x02 - Rivals

Post by bunniefuu »

[Breathing heavily]

[Door bursts open] Clive: What
the hell was that about, ma'am?

It's the ladies', Clive.

But you coulda k*lled us.

Rachita: I didn't, though.
Clive: We're meant

to leave it for marked cars
to intercept.

Yeah, but they didn't,
and we lost them.

If you want to drive
your career over a cliff,

that's fine, but don't take
the rest of us with you.

This isn't bloody
"Thelma & Louise."

I'm sorry if I drove a bit fast.

[Clive scoffs,
footsteps approach]

Needs his eyes checked.

[Phone rings,
overlapping chatter]

Liam: Ma'am?

The vehicle did a U-turn
just as you lost it

and then was next picked up
approaching Sparkbrook

before they lost it again.

Any luck identifying
the assailants?

Faces were covered
by guerilla masks, ma'am,

but from what
DS Edmunds witnessed,

two IC1 males,
six-foot-plus, well-built.

Tell them the Superintendent
is due to... one sec.

Kerry: Ray. Patrick.

DI Ray,
this is DI Patrick Holden.

He's our kidnapping specialist.

Rachita: Hi.
Patrick: Hi.

Kerry: He and his team
will be working closely

with you and your team
on the case.

I wasn't aware I was
being supervised.

Kerry: This is
a high-profile case.

It's standard procedure.

This isn't about you, Ray.

That's not how it seems, ma'am.

Rachita, my team are
setting up an incident room

to assist
with intelligence and...

Kerry: Yeah, just tell them
to manage it until I get there.

Oh, I have to go.
Got press to deal with.

Kerry: Ray.

[Quietly] I think we should
clarify who will be doing what

so there's no misunderstandings.
Patrick: Absolutely.

I can assure you we're here
to support your investigation.

We'll gather and monitor
whatever intelligence we can

regarding the kidnap,
so you can crack on

with your investigation
into the m*rder

of Frank Chapman
and Megan Parks.

But we should keep lines
of communication open.

Of course, the priority
being to preserve life.

Looking forward to working
with you, Rachita.

Rachita: OK, so we've
already been looking

at his movements just before
Frank Chapman's m*rder,

and we were watching the Mochani
shop at the point of the abduction.

I've sent uniform and forensics

to secure the scene
and collect any CCTV.

And now we need to build up
a comprehensive picture

of his lifestyle, finances,
business associates,

his movements and communications

over the past six months.

Our focus should be on
the nature of his connection

to the Chapmans, however,
we can't rule anything out at this stage.

The Mochanis are
relatively new in town,

so it's possible
this may be part

of a pre-existing feud
from Leicester.

We also need to consider
this could be to do

with Rav's time inside,
so potentially,

it could be somebody he's upset,

seeking revenge.

He's been Deaf since childhood
and wears a hearing aid.

Wasn't aware of that.
Can I suggest one

of your team be seconded
to us as a conduit,

make sure nothing falls between
the cracks of the two teams?

Rachita: DC Ellis?
Charlene: Hmm. Happy to, ma'am.

Rachita: Liam, we need
to trace the kidnap vehicle.

Liam: Er, there are registered owner
details, a builder in Dudley.

Uniform are headed
to the address now,

but it looks like they've
cloned the plate, ma'am.

OK, well, keep on with ANPR
and see if we can track

where it went beyond Sparkbrook.
Liam: Will do.

Rachita: OK, we already know
a fair amount about Rav Mochani

as a m*rder suspect
in the Chapman case,

but now he's a hostage,
and it's possible

he's been taken to be ex*cuted.

Either way, I believe there's
an imminent threat to life.

[Muffled groaning]

[Panting]

[Sound amplifies]

[Vehicle engine humming,
car horn honks]

[Theme music playing]

Who's she?

DC Ellis.

Charlene.
I'm from Homicide.

Anyone could have seen you.

It's OK, Tyler.
We've been careful.

Yeah.
I did a sweep before.

[Scoffs]

They're always watching.

Chapmans?

No. Ant & Dec.

Patrick: Listen, Tyler,
no one's forcing you to do anything,

but you know how it works.
You help us...

We just do the jobs.

You know, they don't talk about
stuff like that in front of us.

But you hear things.

Give us a location,
you can get back

to your PlayStation,
keep your head down.

Tyler: There's a warehouse.
Patrick: Where?

Tyler: Sparkbrook. Charlene: Do you
know where exactly in Sparkbrook?

[Sighs]

How's your mum?

What about her?

Patrick: I hope she's
behaving herself.

Be a shame if she
ended up back inside,

just when she's got you home.

Kwesi: Nobody's been in touch
with any demands or threats?

No.

I want to know everything
that's being taken.

Why are you wasting
your time here?

You should be out there,
looking for him.

Mrs. Mochani, we're doing
everything we can to find your son.

We've got specialist officers
dealing with it.

Rachita: Is there anyone
that you can think of

that might want to take him
for whatever reason?

If I knew that,
don't you think I'd get him back myself?

Do you think
Frank Chapman's m*rder

could have anything
to do with it?

My brother's a fighter,

not a m*rder*r.
Kwesi: But maybe others

think he could
be involved in some way?

Every second you're here
harassing us

is putting my son's life
in danger.

Forensics officer:
Wrapped up, ma'am.

Rachita: Can you bag it for DS Edmund,
please? Sharan: Absolutely not.

You're not taking this!
Rachita: It was at the scene at the time

of your son's kidnap,
and therefore it's pertinent

to our investigation and we're
well within our rights to seize it

and it might have something on
there that might help us find him.

Sharan: You won't find anything.

Rachita: Regardless of
what you think of us, Mrs. Mochani,

my number-one priority
right now is to find your son,

alive.

My son had nothing to do
with Frank Chapman's sh**ting.

I'm absolutely certain.

[Breathing heavily]

[Pigeons coo]

What you reckon?
Do you believe her?

I believe she's a mother
worried sick,

but I don't believe she wants
us to find him before she does.

That's why she doesn't want us going
through her stuff. [Mobile phone rings]

DI Ray.

Patrick: My source came through.
We're heading there now.

Rachita: Can you send us the location?
Patrick: Yep. Text it to you.

Hey, can you jump in a squad
car back to the station and get

that laptop to Liam ASAP?
I need to join DI Holden.

They have a tip-off about
Rav's possible location.

Ma'am.

[Police radio, indistinct]

Reckon this kid is reliable?

He's terrified,
and he's always delivered in the past.

He's looking at five years.

His mum's already been inside.

Rachita: Boys and their mums.
Patrick: Hmm.

[Gate creaking open]

Officers: Armed police!

Armed police! Armed police!

Armed police!
Armed police!

Armed police! Armed police!

Officer: Clear!

Officers: Armed police!
Armed police!

Armed police!
- Armed police!

Vehicle safety!
- Vehicle safety!

Show yourself!

Show yourself!
Driver's side clear!

Passenger door clear!

Vehicle empty!
- Vehicle empty!

Clear! All clear!
- Clear!

[Police radio, indistinct]

Charlene, get Forensics here

and make sure there's a clear path for them.
Charlene: Ma'am.

This is fresh.
He's been moved recently.

Can your team
supervise a search?

Patrick: Sure.
[Mobile phone ringing]

[Line rings]
Rachita: Kwesi?

Kwesi: Ma'am.
Rachita: Can you liaise with the team

in the kidnap incident room
and see if they can recover

any CCTV footage around
the Haverhill Industrial Estate?

We need to track down the vehicle that
was used to move Rav Mochani ASAP.

Kwesi: Will do, ma'am.
Rachita: Thanks.

It's got to be the Chapmans.

Any chance your mummy's boy
tipped 'em off?

[Sighs]

[Door clicking]

[Doors opening]

[Muffled yelling]

[All grunting]
Man: God! His hands are untied!

[Rav yelling]

[Grunting continues]

[Rav panting]

[Distant phone ringing]

Kwesi: Ma'am, I've hit a wall
with the second vehicle.

It's a CCTV blackspot
all around the area.

They knew what they were doing.
Rachita: Well, ask the press office...

[Computer notification chimes] to put a
call out on social media for sightings

of any vehicles entering or
leaving the industrial estate.

Ma'am, something's been found
on Rav Mochani's laptop.

Rachita: Well, who is she?
Is she a relative?

Liam: This image was sent
to Rav by Frank Chapman

via an encrypted
messaging service

three days before his m*rder.

[Typing]

Tech have retrieved
four other images of children

that have been deleted.

They all appear to be
around the same age.

Rachita: Same race,
by the looks of it.

This is the same girl.

Liam: But only this image
was sent to Rav by Frank.

Charlene, can you contact the
Child Sexual Exploitation team

and get them to start investigating
the other images? Charlene: Mm-hmm.

Rachita: We need
to prioritise this girl.

Liam, is there location-tagging
on the picture?

Disabled, ma'am.

Well, something was going on

between Frank Chapman
and Rav Mochani.

We need to figure out
what the hell it was.

Right, OK.
Yeah, no problem.

[Hangs up phone]
Rachita: What did they say?

Charlene: They said their
team are already busy dealing

with thousands of images
of unclothed children,

so our images are
low-priority in comparison.

I just got off the phone
with the Super.

Can I see the images, please?

They were pretty firm, ma'am,
said, "We have to investigate it"

and only get back to them
when we know it's a problem.

We need to speak to the Mochanis
and find out about this girl.

Do you think she
could be a relative?

Rachita: Whoever she is,
it's the first concrete evidence

we have that Frank Chapman and Rav
Mochani have been in communication

and that there have been
some conflict and bargaining

going on that could constitute
a motive for m*rder.

This looks like Birmingham.
Can you zoom in a little, Liam?

That's the BT Tower.

Kerry:
And the Library.

Rachita: I'm pretty sure this is
taken south of the City Centre.

Kerry: It's pretty distinctive.
Any idea where it is?

Charlene: Could be somewhere around
the Selly Bank Estate, I reckon, ma'am.

Liam: Yeah, that's a good shot.
Rachita: Right.

You two narrow down the location

and then prioritise
a door-knock for tomorrow.

Kwesi, can you go and speak
to the Chapmans?

Clive, can you liaise with SOC
and secure a building

near to the Chapman
and Mochani residences

so we can set up
an observation post?

Everyone slips up, and we need
to be there when they do.

Kerry: Ahem.

[Sighs]

[Footsteps approach]

Kerry: Rachita?

It's been a long day, I know.

I don't suppose you fancy
a quick drink?

[Liquid pours]

[Overlapping chatter
and laughter]

Thank you.

[Kerry sighing]

The press are really
going after us,

just waiting
for the next...- up.

It's why I think Beardsmore's
sweating a little.

He never usually takes this much interest.
Rachita: Hmm.

[Sighs]
Anyway... cheers.

Cheers, ma'am.

Know what?

I always thought we
could make a difference,

but it feels like nothing's
moved on since my dad's time.

He's retired now,
but he served for 30 years.

Oh, really?
- Public order offences.

Doesn't have the resilience
for homicide, but...

[Sighs] he would never
let you believe that.

He's ever so proud, is my dad.

Sounds like my mum.

She's a university lecturer
who's not teaching

at Oxford and Cambridge,
out of choice, of course.

[Both chuckle]

Were your parents supportive of
you becoming a police officer?

I mean, they...
- I don't mean

from a cultural point of
view, I just mean that, well,

well, parents worry about their
children's future, don't they?

Yeah, I mean, they had their
reservations about me going

into policing,
but I went from college to uniform,

so they got used to it pretty quickly.
Heh! Kerry: Hmm.

Mm...
[Gulps]

Rachita, um...

I know I've not always handled
things brilliantly in the past, so...

on this occasion, I thought
that maybe I should just

come straight to you,
off the record.

OK.

One of your team came to me.

They are worried

about the way in which
you're handling

some of the investigation.
Rachita: Who came to you, ma'am?

Kerry: I'm not gonna say. Rachita: I mean, my
team should feel like they can all speak...

It's irrelevant
who it is, Rachita.

Look, I know you said
you were ready,

but perhaps we should
consider whether this

is the right...
Nick: Hey, love.

We were just round the corner having a
beer, thought we'd pop in and say hi.

Same again?

Uh, yeah.
Sure, why not?

Um, another large red, please.

[Rachita and Ethan laughing
and chatting indistinctly]

Rachita: That was really bad.
Ha ha ha ha!

Uh, any... any chance
I can jump in with you?

You're on my way home.

[Car door closes]
Rachita: Uh, yeah, sure.

See you tomorrow.

[Sighs]

I've had a great night.

Me, too.

So, uh...

should we... do
the numbers thing?

Charlene: Can I ask you
a question about DI Ray?

Yeah.

I heard she took down
a corrupt DCI... Hunter?

She did, yeah.

So what's Henderson's and
Beardsmore's beef with her?

What do you mean?

They just seem to be
on her, constantly.

[Scoffs] I really don't know
where this is.

[Sighs]

We could be knocking
on a lot of doors.

Good.

Gives you time
to answer my question.

Hiroka: You have a really strong
discrimination case against 'em.

Rachita: I know, but I need more time.
Hiroka: Right.

I'm just not sure
what I want to do yet.

You're not seriously falling for this
fast-track promotion talk, are you?

Wait, it's not about
being fast-tracked.

It's a job I would have already have
gotten had I not been passed over.

Just look at
the hypocrisy, though.

They have all these targets

and quotas,
but it's all for show.

They don't want things
to change.

Launching race
discrimination proceedings is

the only way to make
that change happen.

I... I know.
I... I know, I get it.

I just don't want to lose the
trust and respect of my team.

Rachita, the institution tokenised
and took advantage of you,

then tried to make you the
scapegoat for its problems.

And when that didn't work, they came
with their tails between their legs

and begged you to come back,
and you're choosing to do nothing.

No, no, I'm choosing to do my job.
I want to be left alone to do it.

Rachita: Mrs. Mochani,
are you aware that your son was having

email correspondence with
Frank Chapman before he died?

No.

Your brother never mentioned it?

No, he didn't.

Do you know this child?

Sharan: What is all this?
Patrick: This image was sent

to your son by Frank Chapman.

We think she might be
connected to his disappearance.

Mrs. Mochani, is it
possible this could be

your granddaughter?
Sharan: Absolutely not.

Patrick: Perhaps she was born when
your son was serving his sentence?

He might not have
known about her,

he might not have
wanted you to know?

We're not from the villages.

It's bad enough sending your th*gs
to turn his room upside down.

Now you two come here, flinging
your backward assumptions!

Mrs. Mochani, if you do know
anything, you need to tell us now.

Not only could there be a child at risk
of harm, but every second we delay,

the threat to your son's life
becomes more imminent.

This is bigger than you.

You need to work with us.

Well done.
I think you got to her.

Email from Forensics.
I'm afraid there's no DNA

from the warehouse,
apart from Rav Mochani's.

Thanks. I'll go and meet
Kwesi at the Chapmans',

see what they don't say.
[Car door closes]

[Chuckles]

Charlene:
Remember that game?

Knock-a-door-run.

Yeah.
I always got caught.

[Scoffs]

[Knocks on door]

Hi there. DC Ellis.

Hi, my name's DC Payne.
I was wondering

if you might have seen
this child?

Who is she?

Rachita: Your father was
in possession of this photo.

I don't think so.

We've never seen her before.

What exactly are you
suggestin' here?

He sent this photo to a man
called Ravinder Mochani.

Do you know why he
might have sent it?

Well, Dad didn't run
everything by us.

And he never mentioned
this contact?

I've never heard
of him. You?

No.

Kwesi:
So you've no idea

why your dad
and Ravinder Mochani

were communicating with each
other prior to his death?

Suzie: Like I said,
I've never heard

of anybody called Ravinder.

You know, it's not conventional
to hold a wake without a body.

What was the rush with Frank?

Oh. It's what Dad
would have wanted,

us all there...

together.

[Knock on door]

[Door opens]

Hi there. DC Ellis.

Police?

Yes, from West Central.

Just here to ask
a few questions.

Do you mind
telling me your name?

Mrs. Donata Malek.

Mrs. Malek, do you
recognise this child?

Hmm.

Very sweet.

Yes.

I seen her.

Who with?

Liam: The occupant
is a Dawn Hughes.

Apparently it's a one-bed,
and she's the only listed occupant.

We've been watching the flat.
No one's come or gone.

There's definitely someone in
there, though, ma'am.

Rachita: Hi.

I'm a police officer.
My name is DI Rachita Ray.

We're making enquiries and
speaking to residents in the area.

I was wondering if I
could speak to you?

[Running footsteps]

You can either open the door
now, or my colleagues

will wait here while I go
and get a warrant, Dawn.

[Lock clicks]

Rachita: Hi.

I'm DI Rachita Ray.
You must be Dawn Hughes?

Do you mind if we come
and have a chat?

I'm sure you don't want your
neighbours hearing your business.

Why didn't you answer
the door, Dawn?

What's this about?

[Door creaks]
Do you have any children?

No.

Do you know this little girl?

N-no.

We believe this photo was taken
somewhere around this location.

We also have an eyewitness who
claims they saw you with this child.

Can you give us a minute?

[Door creaks]

[Object bounces, rustling]

Do you mind if I take
a look in there?

I can't help you.
Sorry. Can you go now?

I said I want you to leave!

[Breathing heavily]

Dawn: Please?

[Speaks Punjabi]

[Camera shutter clicks]

[Police radio beeps,
indistinct chatter]

[Radio chatter continues]

[Distant train passing]

[Distant clank]

[Grunting]

[Groaning]

[Chair creaks]

[Grunting]

[Exhales]

[Sighs]

[Distant phone rings]

[Distant chatter]

I saw the email from Social Services.
Well done.

I trust you'll inform me when
they've completed their assessment.

Yeah, will do, ma'am.

And, uh...

Ethan.

I saw you leave
in the taxi together.

I wouldn't go there
if I were you.

Why not?

Just trust me.

Let's just say that
his attitude can be casual,

especially when it
comes to women.

Oh, I'll cancel
my wedding plans then.

Kwesi: Ma'am, there's been
a development from Ballistics.

Man: Images of the two b*ll*ts
extracted from Frank Chapman.

Now, as you can see,
when we go in close,

the striation marks are
significantly different.

b*llet A has markings suggesting
a semi-automatic Taurus,

and b*llet B has the markings
of a 9mm semi-automatic GL*CK.

So we're talking about two
completely different weapons?

Not only that,

the weapon that fired
the first b*llet

has been out
of circulation for years.

It's practically vintage
in the g*n world.

So the delay from the first,
clumsy shot to the second

more targeted one isn't
one person's delay.

They're different shooters.

Rachita:
So we have two g*ns

from two different K*llers.

[Camera shutter clicks]

[Camera shutter clicks]

[Camera shutter clicks]

[Typing]

Liam: Great.
Thank you. Of course.

I'll let her know.
Thanks.

[Hangs up phone] Ma'am,
that was Social Services.

The little girl's been
checked over by a doctor.

There doesn't appear to be
any signs of physical trauma,

and she's eating
and drinking well.

Rachita: Where is she now?
Liam: She's been taken

to a secure
Social Services facility.

Thank you, Liam.

I've, um, got some docs
for you here, ma'am.

Now, this is a health check

of an unnamed
seven-year-old girl

performed by a clinic in India.

It was one of the attachments
in a deleted email chain

I managed to recover
between Rav Mochani

and a contact I traced to an
orphanage just south of Delhi.

[Typing]
Also attached was this.

Rachita: It's her.

Sajna.

I ran it through checks with the
passport office, and it's fake.

So it looks like she's
been trafficked.

In one of the emails,
the contact

at the orphanage asks
where the child will

be residing, and this
was Rav's reply.

Would you mind reading out the
address highlighted in the email?

[Sighs]

Edgbaston, Birmingham, B156CC.

Liam: And can you confirm it is your
address, Dawn? Dawn: You know it is.

My colleague, DC Payne,
has been looking

into Ravinder Mochani's laptop.

He's found some
correspondence between Rav

and an orphanage in India.

I'm going to ask you now,

have you and Ravinder Mochani
been involved

in bringing this girl over
from India illegally?

How do you explain
the fact that your address,

the one that you just read out,

the one where we
discovered the child,

was declared as being the address
that this child would be staying at?

Do you know what happens
to children that are trafficked?

Often, they are sold

into domestic servitude,

used as sl*ves, but more often

than not, they're used
by paedophiles.

I'm guessing you know what paedophiles
do to children, right, Dawn?

Rachita: And do you know what
happens to people involved

in trafficking them?

At least 14 years.

Can you imagine how frightened
this little girl must be,

not knowing why she's been brought
here to a country she doesn't know,

not knowing who's going
to take care of her?

She's seven years old, Dawn.

Seven!

And she's all alone!

Dawn: He wouldn't be involved
in something like that.

Liam: Who are you
referencing, Dawn?

Rav.

What's his full name?

Ravinder Mochani.

And what's the nature of the
relationship between you two?

Dawn: He was my boyfriend.
Rachita: Was?

Dawn: We broke up.
Liam: So you're not together.

Did Rav Mochani bring
this child to your flat?

Rachita: This photo
was clearly taken outside your house,

so do you have any idea how Frank
Chapman would have got hold of it?

[Breath trembling]

Rachita: You do know Frank
Chapman was m*rder*d a few days

after this photo was taken,
so come on, tell me. Who is she?

Dawn: Rav's cousin.
Rachita: His cousin?

Dawn: Mm.
Rachita: What's her name?

She's not his cousin,
is she, Dawn?

He asked me to look
after her for a bit,

but then he disappeared on me,
and I didn't know what was happenin'.

And I felt bad, but I didn't
want her there!

I didn't know what to do with the kid!
[Breathing heavily]

Liam: Dawn, when was the last
time you saw Rav Mochani?

Came round last Sunday.

Liam: What time?

Late, like around...

He said he'd be there at 8:00.
I gave him... 'cause I thought

he was with someone else,
but he said he was at some family dinner.

Rav Mochani has a potential
alibi for the murders

of Frank Chapman and Megan Parks.
[Mobile phone rings]

What is it?

[Distant siren wails]

Someone's here
to see you, ma'am.

Patrick: Take your time, Mrs.
Mochani. Sharan: Someone called me.

Rachita: Who?
Sharan: One of the Chapman monkeys.

They gave me this.

They want information about Rav's
business dealings with Frank.

But I don't know anything.

They said if I don't tell them
what Frank and my son

were talking about,
they're gonna k*ll him.

[Distant train passing]

[Distant door clangs shut]

[Muffled]
Hey!

[Distant footsteps]
Hey!

[Footsteps approaching]

[Clang]

[Wire cutters clank]

[Grunting]

[Clanking]

[Rav screaming]

[Distant siren wailing]

[Door opens]

[Footsteps approaching]

Dave: He gets a bit
carried away.

Leave us.

[Distant train passing]

Let's get this all cleared up, shall we?
So we can move on.

I hate loose ends, me.

[Groans]

What were you and my dad in
talks about before he died?

Did he not tell you?
Shame.

Wonder what else he thought
you were too dumb to handle.

[Coughs, gags]

Dave: He piss you off, did he?
[Rav groans]

Is that why you did him over?

'Cause you did, didn't ya?

Just... admit it.
It's your only option right now.

Get...!

Yeah.

[g*n c*ck]

Patrick: What have you got?
Liam: Sir, this cyclist

was checking his footage 'cause some
guy cut him up and he wanted to see

if he'd recorded the reg,
then he noticed it.

Patrick: Go ahead.
[Liam types]

[Typing]

Charlene: He's the only person who
has willingly come forward to help us.

Everyone else is too scared.

He said his mum was a nurse.

He uses an app
to track his bike rides.

You can see here is where
he nearly came off.

Patrick: Can you get me
an exact location?

[Distant siren wailing]

[Siren fades out]

How is she?

A little confused

with everything that's going on,

but seems happy enough.

Woman: She'll be rehoused
with a foster family

as soon as somewhere
suitable is found.

She can understand more
English than she speaks,

so we've been communicating partly
in English and partly in Punjabi.

The calmness when we found her.

That child is used
to being alone.

Sajna?

Hi. Do you remember me?

[Speaks Punjabi]

[Whispers]
Yeah.

[Speaks Punjabi]

Man:
She made it for you.

Oh, it's so lovely.
Thank you.

Um, can you ask her...

if she recognises
the person in this photo?

Ravinder.

Did you ever meet
any of his friends?

[Man speaks Punjabi]

[Speaks Punjabi]

[Phone rings and vibrates]

Rachita: Liam?
Liam: Ma'am, a member

of the public brought in
footage from his helmet camera

which shows
two individuals in masks

with what looks
like Rav Mochani.

We got the location off
his cycling app and we think

we've worked out
his exact location.

A disused gym.
DI Holden's making arrangements

for a specialist firearms unit
and a hostage negotiator.

Rachita: What's the address?
Liam: It's Chorlton Way, but...

OK. I'm close.
I'll head there now.

Charlene: What's up?
Liam: She reckons she's nearby.

She gonna head there.
Clive: Oh,...

Get DI Holden, ASAP.

We need to get her on the radio.

Then everyone else will know
she's gone without backup.

[Brakes squeak]

[Engine turns off]

[Distant train passing]

[Phone rings and vibrates]

Liam: Ma'am?
Rachita: I'm here.

There's no sign of a van
or any other occupants.

Liam: OK. Rachita: They
might have moved him again.

What's the ETA
on the firearm unit?

Liam: Nine minutes, I think,

Please, just wait for backup.

[Three beeps]

[Car doors lock]

[Keys jingle]

[Distant dog barks]

[Distant siren wailing]

[Distant train passing]

[Inhales deeply]

[g*nsh*t within, Rachita gasps]

[Distant clang,
running footsteps]

[Footsteps trailing off]

[Door closes]

[Rachita breathing heavily]

[Distant clatter]

[Distant train passing]

[Distant clang]

[Distant door clangs,
Rachita gasps]

[Running footsteps approaching]

[Door clangs, g*n c*ck]
