01x18 - Mickey Page

Post by bunniefuu »

Joe Connolly
has written a poem.

"A Lily blows in the wind.
Gone!

He isn't concerned that Lily
broke up with him last week.

Best friend.

No friend.
What friend?

Nor is he upset
about falling out with Frisbo

and spending
a whole week on his own.

A thief! A liar!

A betrayer!

So much rage.

It was MY Mickey Page.

Eh... card.

A week ago, they had
returned each other's things.

Here's your
permanent marker back.

Nice.

Can I have my Mickey Page
footie card back?

YOUR Mickey Page footie card?

That's mine!

GIVE IT BACK!!

Everything's fine.

I don't need a best mate.

And you won't have one either

if you carry on at this rate."

Thank you, Joe.

The assignment was
for poems about nature

but I suppose
you did get a lily in there.

Joe doesn't need lilies.

He doesn't need anyone.

[ Emm...

[ Last but not least, Aisha.

-I know that was about me.
- No, not everything's about you!

It's about no one in particular,

for your information,
especially YOU!

So the bit about the football
card, that's about someone else?

Well, you shouldn't have nicked
my Mickey Page card, you thief!

I didn't nick it! It's mine!

Technically,
it's both of yours.

You paid exactly 75p ea--

Don't worry, Pete.
I've got this.

Joe Connolly had always known

this time would come,
when he'd stand up.

- Joe, sit down.
- Yeah, Joe.

Break free
from childish behaviour.

- No!
- Oooh!

And walk his own path.

I won't ask again.

Yes, Sir. Sorry, Sir.

- Nice one, DODO.
- Numpty.

Joe Connolly doesn't need
best friends at all.

He's totally fine on his own.

I'm wiv you, mate.
Total numpty.

The Mickey Page football card.

Steve Malek, stands
two inches taller than Frisbo,

is an orange belt in Karate,
and always smells like chips.

He is about to be
Joe Connolly's best friend,

and together they will do all
the things that best friends do.

- Ooh! That's a big one.
- Aghh! Too big!

Have each other's backs.

- Hiii-ya!
- Quack!

Tell each other secrets.

No one knows this, so you
have to swear not to tell.

I can move things with my mind.

Woahhh!

Push each other
to achieve greatness.

- Oh, I love moon juice!
- I know you do!

Together, they would
always feel like they belong.

Now, standing with Steve, Joe
can begin his new friendship.

Oh, and this other time,

Frisbo had a sip of my squash
and backwashed it.

Rank!
He's such a muppet.

- And he was your best mate?
- I know.

- But now you are.
- Me?

Cool.

Ummm...

Umm...

I thought you didn't need
a stupid girlfriend.

- Yeah, I don't!
- Alright, don't get mad at me.

Actually, maybe you
should get mad.

Follow me.

Joe...

Meet Dave.

I didn't know this existed!

They teach self-defence
in this room on Sundays.

My mum goes.
Box-ercise on Tuesdays too.

Cool!

With every punch,
Joe grows in strength.

Yeah! Uhh!

Nnn! Phew!

I come here when
I feel like beating someone up.

All thanks to Steve Malek.

Have another go.
Pretend it's Frisbo this time.

Aagh!

Get off, Dave!

The time is 12:45,

and Joe Connolly has lunch
with best friend Steve Malek.

- Let's go back there later.
- Definitely.

Finally, all is right and Joe
can close the book on--

- Frisbo!
- Give it back, it's mine!

Pfft! No idea what
you're talking about, mate.

Joe knows EXACTLY
what he's talking about.

The Mickey Page footie card, I
know you took it, give it back.

But he's chosen his side.

Maybe you lost it when
you were being a plonker.

- I didn't lose it!
- But you were being a plonker?

No! I... shut up, Steve!

Hey guys, it's just
a footie card, right?

Pete, it's not
just a footie card.

Turning on Pete too?
Some mate you are!

Frisbo was right.
This isn't just a football card.

Just give it!

This is about much more.

He doesn't know
what you're on about.

He can speak for himself,
can't he?

- No!!
- What is going on?

Frisbo's got Joe's bag, Miss.

Is that right?
Is that Joe's bag?

But Miss, Joe's stolen
my Mickey Page footie card and--

Joe? Did you take this?

No, Miss!
I would never do that.

He just stole my bag.

Right, is that your bag, or not?

Give it back, Frizzy.

Yes, it's his bag but he--

If it's not yours,
then give it back.

But... but... Look!
I can prove it.

See?

I DON'T have it.

No card there.
Bit embarrassing, Frizzy.

ENOUGH!
Outside my classroom, right now.

But he has it! I know it.
I just--

NOW! And wait there
until I come and get you.

Oh, wait!

Did he mean
THIS Mickey Page footie card?

Can't steal what's already mine.

- That is SO funny!
- Hmm.

Ooh! My footie card!

Bye-bye, Frizzy!

For the first time, Joes sees
Steve, his best friend.

Wait! What's going on here?

He can see Steve
for who he TRULY is.

What we've
always planned, Nibbles.

Prime the lasers.

Wait... what?!

And he can also see himself.

Fire!

We're the BAD guys.

Hey Steve, I was thinking,

maybe we should
actually give the card back.

- It was a bit mean.
- That wasn't mean.

Don't worry, mate.
We can do better than that.

In an instant, Joe realises...

Can you believe
that pleb almost CRIED

over some STUPID football card?!

Steve, it's not
a stupid football card.

Wot?

It's Mickey Page.

He can't
continue this friendship.

Sorry Steve, I need to go.

And Frisbo's not a pleb.

He's... he's my best friend.

As Joe looks down at his list,
he realises something.

They had spent time together.

Doing the important things.

- Look! I found a woodlouse.
- Woah!

- They had each other's backs.
- Aaaagh!

Told each other secrets.

It was me.

Pushed each other
to achieve greatness.

- Sixty-four.
- You did it!!

Woo-hoo!

Shared everything.

- Raisins?
- Raisins.

- Yogurt?
- Yogurt.

Together, they always
felt like they belonged.

Joe Connolly already
had the best best friend.

He had let him down.

Oh no!

And not for the first time.

No! You stay here.

- Woo-hoo!
- Woo!

Yeah, fantastic.

May I please have a volunteer?

Now Joe could see this clearly.

He had been in the wrong
but he would set it right.

Miss, I've got something to say.

- I'm not talkin' to you.
- That's okay.

I just wanted to say...

..sorry, really.

- For being a bad mate.
- Wot?

I thought you
weren't talking to me?

- I'm not!
- Oh.

Not that it matters,

but this is yours... again.

Sorry.

Mickey Page?

Yeah, Mickey Page.
