SUGAR RUSH: THE BAKING POINT

Everybody ready
for the first challenge of Season 2?

-Ready!
-Ready!

This is gonna be "eshpeshial."

Our bakers need to brace themselves
because we're taking things up a level!

HOST

Sugar Rush: The Baking Point is back!

The baking competition where speed
is the most important ingredient.

Six new teams of bakers are here
to try to take home one million pesos

and the golden trophy
of this sweet race against time.

Why's it green? It turned green!

It's frozen. Really frozen.

I need to calm down.

The bakers will be under
even more pressure.

This season, they will have five hours
to face off in two rounds.

-How's it going?
-Winning, as always, babes.

In the first round,
now they will have to decide

what they'll make,

either cupcakes or confections.

But they won't be able to avoid
our delicious, beautiful,

and now more challenging cakes.

And the bottom team... is gone.

They will be eliminated.

Our teams must save and accumulate time,

episode after episode,
to compete in the grand finale.

That is, if they make it.

I am Capi Pérez,
but I'm not the only one returning.

LUIS ROBLEDO, GRIS VERDUZCO
JUDGES

Our judges are ready to taste
the best these teams have to offer

with our first challenge,
"My Favorite Series."

From the show Nothing to See Here,

we have the great actor
and comedian Kike Vázquez.

Gris is explaining the first challenge.

Remember that the bottom two teams
will have 30 minutes deducted

from their cake round.

That sound means
that we've officially started.

Come with me.

-Yes, finally!
-Yes!

Tudum!

-I am so glad to be back.
-Capi.

Have Zacatecas and Mérida come together
to make a cupcake or a confection?

-Cupcake.
-Our team from Aguascalientes!

-Yes!
-Yeah!

-What'll it be?
-A confection.

Great!

-Cupcake or confection?
-"Cuption."

-A fusion!
-A cupcake and a confection combined.

"Cuption," I like it.

-Come here.
-I don't want anyone to hear.

We're making two confections.

Hey, everybody! Over here...
No, I'm just joking. Trust me.

Judges! I'm so glad
to see your sweet faces again.

-How are you?
-How's it going, Gris?

Your hair is even more pink this season.

Dude! Your vests...

-We miss them.
-We'll miss them. You look great.

-Kike!
-Capi!

-Welcome! How are you?
-This is great.

I'm so excited.

What a sweet invitation. I'm a huge fan.

-Be very observant.
-Yes, sir.

So, what is
this first challenge about, Pastelitos?

Have you ever noticed that

when you're binge-watching
your favorite series,

like Sugar Rush: The Baking Point...

Yeah. Obviously.

...you eat snacks the whole time?

That's the theme.

The bakers have to take
their inspiration from the snack

that you eat while watching TV,
but make it as a cupcake or a confection.

-Whatever they want.
-They choose.

ROUND 1
CUPCAKES OR CONFECTIONS

-Like watching TV...
-Yeah.

-With potato chips, but it's a cake.
-But a little one.

A milk skin sponge cake.

-Soaked in yuzu because it's fresh.
-In yuzu.

CHOCOLATE BUCKET

We'll make an edible bucket.

It can be vegetables,
like jicamas, cucumbers, and carrots.

Popcorn.

-Let's make nachos and popcorn.
-Popcorn.

Let's put them in nitrogen
and make them with a foam from a siphon.

FRIENDS

We love the science of baking,
and we'll show it today.

I hope they can create
a realistic effect in time.

Like a 3D peanut.

I want it to look super realistic.

-Huge. You know what?
-What?

CHOCOLATE MOUSSE
JELLY

FRIENDS

Tamarind...

I know that most things are savory.

-Yes.
-But it has to be sweet.

-You know what you're weighing, right?
-Yes, honey.

We've been together 13 years.

COUPLE

We met on MySpace.

-I'll make chocolate and paint it.
-Okay, honey.

It's nice that they're partners
and make a good team.

I will make a soda-flavored sponge cake.

I've always thought that getting married
is sometimes unnecessary.

Because sometimes people get married
and separate after a year.

Do you need oil?

-Or not right now?
-No. Not right now.

We have a son, and we basically have
an informal marriage.

Not so informal.

Kike, do you have a partner, or...?

A significant other.

-Yes!
-It's the only significant thing I have.

-Is the cream ready?
-No.

-Just add the...
-No, I'm melting it.

Our cupcake looks like nachos and popcorn.

CHILI PEPPER GUMMIES
CORNBREAD

Is it ready?

No, a bit longer.

Andrés and Nadia
are the only ones making cupcakes.

"Cupcakeism."

It's a simple choice,
and it really allows you to shine.

-The chips are sticking.
-Move them with a spatula.

FRIENDS

We wanted to make it savory...

CUPTION: CHIP BOWL
CHIPS, CHOCOLATE, CHILE

...and sweet,
adding spice, like a good Mexican.

I'll add cocoa
to enhance the taste of the chocolate.

We'll give it our best. We'll win.

-The older gals.
-The fortysomethings.

I don't know how this works!

-What do you mean?
-I wish it was a gas cooktop.

I hate these stoves. I don't get them.

I don't understand how to use them.

This is the first time
they're baking in this kind of setting.

They're more likely to make a mistake.

-Forty minutes to complete this challenge.
-All right.

The communication between Elio and César
is almost genetic.

Elio and I have known each other
all our lives because we are siblings.

And it all began in our mom's kitchen.

-Do you like the chocolate buckets?
-Yeah. Nice job.

That tempered chocolate turned out great.

We're from a community
in the Sierra de Guerrero.

We always pretended
we were the town bakers.

So I think what destiny
had in store for us

was to become the bakers we are now.

We have one, two, three,
four, five, six, seven, eight.

We have it all planned out.
There's no success without a plan.

Daniel and Natalia, working hygienically.
They're wearing gloves.

-True. They're the only ones.
-It shows professionalism.

I'll add quite a bit of pistachio to it,

to give it flavor
and a delicious green color.

If you can, start the oil for the popcorn.

Put the mousse in the fridge
to let it harden.

We'll add the filling when it cools.

Dear bakers, just a reminder
that the bottom two teams

will lose half an hour!

-What?
-No!

-Half an hour?
-Yeah.

Hurry, honey. How awful.

This is the second season,
so we have to take it up a level.

We have less time.

-Last season, they had 24 hours. And now?
-Twenty.

FRIENDS

It won't be six hours per episode anymore.
It'll be five.

-Now it's only cupcakes or...
-Confections.

We only have one chance
to win over the judges.

Give me a bag.

Our son loves rolled tacos
with chili pepper

that are sold ready-made.

So it's inspired
by the time we spend with our son.

We want to include him
because he's a part of us.

We think that represents him
and makes us create even better things.

-How are the husband and wife? I see...
-Yeah.

They communicate well.

-They're organized.
-Yeah.

A soda sponge cake.

FRITTER BOWL: SPONGE CAKE, TACOS, DIP

-Soda sponge cake. And a dip.
-That's great!

I didn't think
I'd spend so much time on the letters.

But the popcorn
won't look nice without the N.

The brownie is in the oven.

I'll start the nachos.
I have the filo dough.

Daniel and Natalia took a risk
and are making two confections.

It's a double-edged sword.
If you succeed, it's great.

If not, it could work against them.

-How much longer until we're done?
-Twenty or 25 minutes.

I'll finish before that.
But I still have to make the bags.

I'll start on the popcorn mousse.

Great.

She's going fast. What's happening?

I'd rather do something
that is well done in less time.

-And save time.
-Save time.

Half baking powder.

It looks weird.

It has some lumps.

I'm panicking.

It's not done yet.

-Why does it look like this?
-Did it burn?

No.

I added it little by little.

What am I doing? What's going on?

-Did you add cream?
-Yeah.

It didn't need cream, just tempering.

The nachos aren't uniform.

-Is that okay?
-No, the dough isn't cut.

No, it's taking you too long.

We need ten.
It's the only way to cut them.

Lift them with this. Look.

Yeah, but...

Unfortunately, we're far away from them,
so, if they fight,

they have to let us know.

Grab another and start over.

On the other hand,
Ale and Emilia's ganache is too hard.

If they can't handle ganache,
their shot at victory will vanish.

They won't win the cash.

It's just a bit to dip the potato chips.

It's not mixing, my God.

I'll do it by hand.

I'll bake the sponge cake at 320
because you know that in Chilpancingo

we're closer to the oven.

Where we lived,
kids didn't get birthday cakes.

So my sister and I would make
these little confections with mud.

That's when I understood

that I had to work hard
to get what I wanted.

-Fifteen more minutes.
-I'm making popcorn.

Give me your hand.

Bacon and pistachio.

Semi-whipped cream.

-Oh!
-Is it good?

It's delicious,
but it's not the traditional flavor.

I like sweet things,
but I have this quirk.

I have anosmia,
which means I don't have a sense of smell.

-Really?
-Taste is important to me.

If I can't taste something,
I don't like it.

It melted. It's ready.

Cupcakes to the oven.

Holy Father!

Dude.

When my aunt hears me say "Holy Father,"
she'll be happy.

I have a very small family.

Small and very conservative.

I live with an aunt
who is like a second mother to me.

She's a fervent Catholic.

I said to my aunt, "Let's watch a series."

She thought we'd watch
some religious show.

-I can't use this one.
-I said, "No way!"

She's very close-minded
regarding the LGBTQ+ community...

She doesn't know
that I'm a big supporter of them.

-That I'll be...
-That I'm part of it.

But she'll find out.

-Andrés, how's it going?
-I'm winning, as always, babes.

Something is burning.

It smells like something is burning.
Can you smell it?

-Isn't it you?
-My milk skin.

-What are they doing?
-Something's burning.

It was this!

Burnt peanuts.

-Burning something makes it bitter, right?
-Yes.

The chocolate didn't melt.

-I don't know why.
-Did it melt?

Kike, let's go see the action up close.

-Sure!
-Come with me, please.

I was looking forward to this.

-It takes a while. You have to...
-Ale and Emilia.

-How's it going?
-Fine. The cupcakes are in the oven.

-Are you adding chocolate to the chips?
-I'm dipping them.

-Want a taste?
-Sure.

Of course. Yeah. I'm jealous. My turn.

It's promising.

-See? Told you so.
-Good.

Natalia, let's pick up the pace!

We have the popcorn, which is sweet.
The scent and the flavor.

We think it'll win over the judges.

Kike, this is César and Elio.

-How are you?
-How are you? That's what matters.

You fight with your siblings
from the moment you're born.

When we were kids,
she scratched me here and pulled my hair.

-Not true.
-It is.

-I didn't mean to.
-She admits it.

Do you get along,
or do you tattle on each other to Mom?

No, we get along well.
Sometimes there's a little friction.

-César is laser-focused, but it's fine.
-What's wrong with that?

-I get distracted.
-No, because we need to hurry.

It's a "rush."

Honey, this isn't really blended.

-We can beat it again.
-No, it's too late.

I'll fry it.

We decided to cut it
with those pieces and risk frying it.

-It's fine.
-Check to see if they're okay.

Let's see.

Come on. We should clean this.

-Let's put it in the freezer.
-Yeah.

They have to be frozen
so we can paste them.

-Yes.
-Yeah.

It's 18 minutes. Come on. Hurry up.

All done.

These guys are plating.

-Hey, the Netflix N.
-Is it upside down?

Do you think it's upside down?
Yeah, right? It is.

They're upside down.

-The Netflix N is upside down.
-No!

-Yeah, right?
-They'd just have to turn it like this.

We can take care of it.

It's for a selfie.
It'll show up the right way.

Kids always think about social media.

They're programmed that way.

Look, Nat.

Do you like the meat on the nachos?

-I do!
-Moist, right?

-Will we serve the mousse then?
-Yeah, it's a hot foam.

They're in the lead.

Watch out!

-Sorry.
-Okay. Look.

-It's not cooling.
-No.

If it's not lifted, it'll break.

So they'll have to cover it.
I hope it doesn't show.

-Should we change it?
-Yup.

-Can we borrow some space?
-Do you open it often?

-Use it.
-Thanks.

Bakers!

An hour has gone by.

Remember what's at stake.

One million pesos!

I'll use the million-peso prize
for a glow-up.

Done.

We should just make...

No, chili peppers have an irregular shape.

You want all vegetables to be perfect.

-I want it to look nice.
-It'll look pretty.

But don't be so methodical.

They can't break because I only have...

Oh my God.

Our chocolate sphere just broke.

-Be careful removing them.
-You do it. I'm not good at it.

-We're plating.
-So, that means...

-Hurry. We have to finish.
-Hurry.

Potato chips.

God, bless this food.

But first, this chocolate bowl.

-Yeah. Great!
-Nice. It came out.

We should have finished earlier,
but we're done.

This one won't come out.

-Really?
-Yeah. It's totally broken.

Let's see how they fix this.
They don't have much time.

ROUND ONE

-Hit it together.
-It should be the first one.

I think Daniel and Natalia
are going to hit the button.

-What? How?
-I think so.

-The first to finish, and they made two.
-Yeah.

-Three, two...
-One!

-Good luck.
-Yes!

The first team to finish this season.

TIME SAVED

-It's okay. It doesn't matter. We're okay.
-Let's go!

We want to hit the button

because, as it is,
we would be the second team to finish.

All done.

Now the coulis.

TIME SAVED

Hurry!

-No. How about underneath?
-Wait.

Done! Hit the button!

SAVED TIME

The best time has come.
We'll taste their confections.

-Yes!
-Come on!

Almost. It isn't what we wanted,
but it's done.

It looks like we fished it
out of the toilet bowl.

-One, two, three!
-Yes!

TIME SAVED

I'll plate this.
Take care of the chocolate that broke.

You'll see popcorn stuck together.

It's part of... When you're at...

Yeah, but not messy.

I want to do well.

-Hurry!
-Let's go!

We're the last ones! I told you so!

TIME SAVED

-Daniel, Natalia, you did it.
-Yes.

Dani and I decided
to make a popcorn mousse...

Hold on. Give me a second.

It's just that last time... I'm sorry.

There. Hold on. I need to get in the mood.

-Okay.
-Did you hear that? Tudum.

There. Okay, sorry.

The popcorn is ice cream
and should be eaten promptly.

We wanted it to look real,
so we used rice paper.

From the middle. Honey, present it.

Then we have some nachos.

We began by making the chips
with filo dough.

The cream is made
with pistachio and bacon.

It's like experiencing
so many things, that you're like...

-Chocolate, if needed. Come!
-Done!

Hit it for me.

TIME SAVED

They're all done.

-Perfect! We'll be right there.
-We're here with our nachos.

Why did you make two creations
when you only needed one?

Now we don't know
which one to base our rating on.

No risk, no reward.

If you're watching Netflix,
you don't have just one snack.

-You have a few.
-Different ones.

All right, the popcorn.

The bag is awesome.

-The texture isn't what I expected.
-Of course.

I would have liked
the nachos to be a bit sweeter,

but it's amazing that you made this
in so little time.

I'm a bit confused.

You're the only team that made cupcakes.

It was a strategy to save time.

It's a corn cupcake with chili powder.

-Okay.
-American cheese and cream cheese.

Basically, you're eating nachos
in a cupcake.

It's like eating nachos with cheese.

This is crazy. I love it.

The first thing I wanted to taste
was the poblano pepper

because the gummy was bland.

The chili pepper gummy
was really flavorful for me.

It's the first "cuption"
in Sugar Rush: The Baking Point.

It's a combination of chocolate cupcake
and ancho chili pepper.

There's a potato pie crust underneath.

-They look like potato chips.
-They are.

-That must be why.
-Yeah.

The chocolate, the chili pepper,
and the salt go well together.

-Yeah.
-I'm not sure about the potato.

Maybe if they were homemade,
that would have given it a special touch.

-I never thought of that.
-Yeah.

We wanted to add what we enjoy
when we watch movies.

-How should we eat this?
-Just like Capi.

Go on!

We wanted to make
a personalized popcorn bucket.

We added a yogurt cream,

a yuzu infusion, and salted caramel.

You almost lost a tooth there.

-Or was that just my imagination?
-Look.

Just what we needed!

When I explained the challenge,
I told you, I warned you,

that it needed to look realistic.

-Yes.
-And you...

did not forget!

I'm so happy we hit the mark.

It's a chocolate mousse
with raspberry bits

and pieces of caramelized tamarind candy.

It also has a raspberry jam
with another tamarind candy.

We made a crackling with roasted peanuts.

Rancho style.

This is already yummy.

-Okay.
-Okay.

-It's okay.
-It slipped...

I think hair color
gives desserts a certain touch.

-Right? Yeah.
-I think so.

Your Northern accent too.

It gives it a certain touch.

Exactly.

Siblings.

First, the peanut didn't have
a well-defined form.

But we don't have anything
against shapeless things, right?

Against something that looks shapeless
when walking, right?

He understood the abstract concept
really well.

But I loved it.

We were inspired by the snack we eat
with our son when watching movies.

We made some chili-seasoned
sweet potato chips.

Inside the little crown,
there is a soda sponge cake.

-Wow!
-I loved it!

And we added a dip
to make it look like nacho cheese.

It's made with mango.

You started.

It's made with love. It's our style.

I think that...

every second was worth it.

-Yeah!
-Great idea.

You combined it because, really,
who doesn't drink soda while snacking?

-Delicious.
-Thank you very much.

-It's great. Really yummy.
-Thank you.

Just hearing that...

-Give me five.
-It went great.

Dear bakers.

There's a team that,
thanks to their originality,

was the judges' favorite.

That team is...

Sandra and Efraín!

Congratulations!

Each minute of love that we invested
on our creation was worth it.

There are two teams that will lose
half an hour in the cake challenge.

I'm scared.

The first team

had an ingredient

that just didn't work well
with what they wanted to make.

That team is...

Ale and Emilia.

Well, yeah, I'm actually scared.

ROUND 1

I'm so nervous, dude.

The other team's creation looked great,

but our judges didn't quite like

the flavor combination.

I'm nervous now.

Daniel and Natalia.

We know we have another round,

and that's when we'll show
what we are capable of.

Now, bakers, my friend Kike will explain

what the second round is all about.

I was told
that I'd come here to watch TV series,

and that's what I want to see
in your cakes.

So, you have to make a cake

inspired by one of the following series.

It can be One Piece,

Stranger Things, or...

-Before you say the next one, hold on.
-Okay.

I think... okay.

You have to guess the other series.

It looks good on him.

-Pippi Longstocking!
-No.

-Oh...
-Do you know this series?

-Selena!
-Wednesday!

-That's right, Wednesday.
-Wednesday, of course.

You'll take inspiration
from one of these series

for your great,
and hopefully delicious, cake.

Okay.

I know I'm wearing a wig,
but take me seriously regarding time.

I will tell you
when you can start preparing your cakes,

according to the time you have left, okay?

The team starting now,
because they have more time,

are Andrés and Nadia,

who have 3 hours,
50 minutes, and 17 seconds.

And the ones starting last
will be Ale and Emilia,

with 3 hours, 18 minutes, and 36 seconds.

The winning team will have
an hour added to their final time.

TIME LEFT FOR CAKES

The runners-up will win half an hour.

But not it's not all that sweet.

The losing team

will leave Sugar Rush: The Baking Point

and lose their shot
at winning one million pesos!

There are a million pesos on the line,
and we have bills to pay.

Andrés and Nadia, grab your mixers!

-Your time starts now!
-Okay.

ROUND 2 - CAKES

-We'll make a Wednesday cake.
-So...

-A stained-glass window as the main cake.
-Yeah.

-The dresses will be here.
-Yes.

-Should we add movement?
-Yeah, so it turns.

And when do we start?

Eight minutes until the next team starts.

-I need to poop.
-It's exasperating.

I'll just put it in the pan
and then in the oven.

It's stressful not being able
to do anything, not even planning.

-Like drawing or something.
-Anything.

-Which series inspires you?
-Stranger Things.

Did you hear that? Stranger Things.

Three, two, one.

Grab your mixers! Your time starts now!

-Come on!
-I feel like doing a very '80s taste.

I want them to remember their childhood.

My mom's vanilla cake and strawberry jam.

-But with cream, like a milkshake.
-Okay. Lime, dude.

Is two cakes too much?

Sounds great.

Eleven is below, in the regular dimension,
and the Demogorgon is in the Upside Down.

-Okay, cool.
-Yeah?

Nadia, I added the chocolate
to the pastry cream.

Grab your mixers! Your time starts now!

We've worked a lot on realism,

so we can make a cake like a work of art.

-There's this epic scene.
-Yeah.

-When Max is like this.
-Yep.

Max will be floating,
and Vecna will hold her,

so it's a big challenge.

-Sponge cake first.
-Okay.

-I'll get started on the ganache.
-Okay.

Going to the oven!

The other teams are putting their cakes
in the oven, and we're lagging behind.

Check it out. Are they using marshmallows?

-It smells good.
-Chocolate...

It's too bad you can't smell it, Kike.

The sponge cake the face are key.

SPONGE CAKE

I need to do this right away.

He'll make a paste and shape it.

-If it doesn't spill over, it's fine.
-I know.

-I need to start saying what I want.
-I want to do this now.

-What series did you choose?
-One Piece.

-It's for our son.
-He's a fan.

-He's a One Piece fan.
-Great.

Three, two, one. Grab your mixers!

Your time starts now!

-Let's make a wave.
-A wave.

So it looks like they're going
on an adventure.

We'll make a purple vanilla sponge cake

with a whipped cream
and coconut milk syrup filling

with hints of rum.

-What about the sea?
-We'll use gelatin.

With that old technique
that used to be popular.

So far, we have one Wednesday.

-A Wednesday.
-A One Piece.

-Yeah.
-And two Stranger Things.

-Stranger Things is in the lead.
-We could add blood.

I love gore.
Blood, brains, all that stuff.

I think it's absolutely awesome.

He isn't clean. He eats people, right?

Just like someone I know.

Daniel and Natalia.

Hi.

Can you tell us a secret, like last time?

-Not happening.
-I didn't tell anyone.

I want to surprise you,
so my lips are sealed.

Okay. Three, two, one!

Grab your mixers! Your time starts now!

Let's pick Wednesday, okay?

We can do Morticia.

It should look like a mannequin,
like Morticia's dress.

EDIBLE FABRIC

A life-size one.

-The flavor of the cake...
-Chocolate, edible fabric.

We've got the drive to make this happen.

Three, two, one! Grab your mixers!

-Your time starts now!
-Wait!

Holy Father, I...

-Wednesday.
-Everybody's working now.

How nice.

Yeah, a cello...

We decide to add a cello

because we both love music
and listen to classical music.

We should take inspiration
from the ballroom gown.

Yeah, popcorn-flavored.

The popcorn flavor will dominate,

and we want to break it up
with a raspberry caramel.

I'll make a carbon-activated cake
to make it badass.

-We'll paint the sponge cake purple.
-To make it look like Luffy's fruit.

We chose that because fans love it.

Great! Morgan will love it.

Morgan was born
at eight and a half months.

Since we didn't have money,
I gave birth at a general hospital.

They charged us 500 pesos for a C-section.

It took them a long time to help me,
and Efraín wasn't with me.

He couldn't come in.

It was horrible not knowing
what was going on.

Just imagine when the kid sees this.

And sees his parents
making him a One Piece cake.

Let's hope it's ready
in 30 minutes or less.

That will help it look really black.

-Look.
-Like your soul.

I'm almost done with the sponge cake.

I only hope that Daniel and Natalia
aren't disappointed by the last round,

and that it doesn't leave them crushed
like my legs.

Bakers!

You have three hours
to present your cakes!

Remember to save time for the finale,
in case you make it that far.

More amaranth, right?

Why is it green? It turned green!

Oh my God. Yes, it's very green.

But we can't start over
because we're out of time.

It's the first time
it's the color of a pistachio.

Kike, do you want to go
to each work station and gossip a bit?

Please.

The green will fade a bit in the oven.

Why is the dough green? What happened?

We don't know.

It came out green.

Does it have pistachio,
matcha, or something?

-No.
-Literally.

How come?

We discovered how to make a green cake...

Without planning to!

-Can you make the amaranth?
-Coming.

We have to keep making amaranth
because we need to cover the whole body.

The volumes are...

Decisive.

We need to keep moving,
but we're a bit slow.

-What are you doing?
-We're starting to make One Piece.

And on the boat!

-No way!
-Yeah.

Making cakes for your children
is the best thing ever, right?

-Right?
-Yeah.

Elio, I'm making Vecna's face.

Realism is our strong suit,
so we hope we can deliver with this cake.

You're almost done. See?

-This ganache won't be enough.
-Make some more.

-What are you doing now?
-I'm making Eleven.

It's not much time for a realistic face.

Are you modeling?

-I'll model the face to begin.
-Model a bit.

-Sorry?
-Model a bit.

Where do I go? Here.

She's modeling.

I'm here. Go ahead, laugh. You're welcome.

It normally takes me two hours to do this.

Not... ten minutes!

I'm making Thing,
so I grab the modeling chocolate,

but it's too soft for me to shape it.

The hand has to be realistic,
so we have to spend more time on this.

I studied design and loved it.

When my daughter was born,
I couldn't keep up with the pace at work,

so baking gave me the freedom

to work from home
and be with her full-time.

-That's the cello. Like this.
-Yeah, but I don't want to overdo it.

I was an office worker for years.

I didn't feel
like it was my thing anymore.

That's when I decided
to do something more fun, like cakes.

-Relax. Breathe for two seconds.
-Not at this point.

I'm cutting the boat.

Great.

I like that the mannequin
includes the waltz.

It just needs music.

We just need to secure it here.

I know how people feel
when they see me walk like this.

They're like, "He's gonna fall, man!"

It's like me.
It looks yummy, but it'll fall.

Almost done with the stained glass.
Then we'll work on details.

We just need the rope.

-They're tying...
-They are.

It's so Mexican.

When something wrong,
my family says, "Tie it with a rope."

Maybe it's all the experience.

If they remove the rope,
you have to rescue her...

-"Mon amour." Like that.
-Like Gomez.

The ganache is hard.

I'm having a hard time with Max.

César has been modeling for a long time.

Yeah.

I need help,
and he wants to keep adding details.

You're being impatient,
but details will be important too

when they judge our work.

-How's it going?
-It's getting complicated.

Tensions are running high.
Especially at that workstation.

They're not having fun.

They're stressed.

-I have to put it in...
-Yeah?

-The freezer?
-Yeah.

I feel a bit defeated, actually.

No! Hold on.

Should I put
a chunk of chocolate under it?

We can't add more weight.

If they keep adding weight,
it'll collapse.

If we move it, it'll fall.

This is getting tough.

We need a plan B, C, and D.

The whole alphabet.

Come on, sis. We got this.

-We can put it in the microwave.
-No, we can't.

-Why?
-It'll overcook.

-Really?
-Yeah.

Elio and César clearly have a problem.

-The fat and the chocolate aren't mixing.
-No.

That's going to impact the texture.

-Okay.
-The chocolate curdled a bit.

Let's reinforce the structure, Dani.

-Okay.
-We'll put some rods underneath.

With the additional support,
it hopefully won't fall.

-Careful.
-Take it easy.

Ignore us. We just want to take a look.

-Sorry.
-We'll check out your engineering work.

It's a real headache

when things go sideways
just as the judges show up.

-If it's stable, we're fine.
-That's enough.

They still have an hour and 15 minutes.

-That's the good thing.
-Thanks!

They have time.

-It'll work out.
-It will.

-You need to add details to the hand?
-Yes. And make the cello.

Honey, pray that we have enough.

We used lots of techniques.

We used buttercream, gelatin...

-Fondant, chocolate.
-Fondant, chocolate.

When they use another technique,
you notice it right away, right?

Finish adding the moss
so you can start adding gelatin.

Okay.

I'll add it like this, César.

-It's pretty ugly.
-Yeah.

But we'll keep at it.

I'm sweating!

And you never sweat!

It means you're fully engaged.

They need to cover up the mess.

That's how the Stranger Things world is.

I know that
it doesn't have to look perfect, but...

-Look.
-I don't like it.

You know that the art of baking is also
knowing how to cover up mistakes.

We're adding the final details
to this crazy cake.

-One, two...
-Wait, Nadia!

-Is it centered?
-Yes.

-Andrés and Nadia are about to...
-Andrés and Nadia.

-I can't believe it.
-Did it turn on?

-Wow!
-They'll have extra time.

-Okay.
-I want to cry.

-They're hitting the button.
-Really?

Yes, Andrés.

-Ready?
-Okay. One, two, and...

Yes! Andrés and Nadia have finished!

TIME SAVED

The rest of the teams have half an hour.

So much pressure!

We have to finish.

-Her arm is falling off.
-Here in the...

-Hold it.
-This looks horrible.

I don't love how this paint looks.

What if I strip it?
What if I paint it and strip it?

You can tell Erick is not happy
with the paint on his Demogorgon.

-His Demogorgon.
-He won't have time to fix it.

I don't like it.
I'm not going to be happy with it.

I mean, it's a mess.
And I am at my wit's end, right?

We need to add something here.

I don't know if I'll like eating fabric.

They're using lace.

-Lace. Wow!
-It's lace, on top of it all.

It has a better shape. We've got it.

Once it's done, I'll touch it up.

We're seeing how Ale and Emilia
are hanging the cake.

We're turning it because...

They're about to hang the cake...

And they did it!

-Yes!
-Well done!

The cake is suspended in the air.
We have zero gravity.

-More what? Matcha with clay?
-Yes.

It's nerve-racking! Fifteen minutes left.

It's...

Lower it more, César.

-He k*lled it.
-Don't let it fall.

I'm so afraid that it'll fall, César.

It's too much fondant. It's too heavy.

-There...
-Why did they remove it? No.

-Careful, César.
-Push it towards me.

-I can't. The cake is behind it.
-Okay.

I'm so afraid.

-Careful. I don't want to poke you.
-No.

-No...
-Oh my God. It's moving too much.

You got it. Okay.

-I'll add the boat.
-Okay.

-Sandra and Efraín are about to add...
-The little boat.

Help me pick it up.

-It's nerve-racking.
-It is.

I'm not sure how long
the boat can stay on top of the wave.

On the wave.

-Oh my God.
-Done!

-Done!
-Sandra and Efraín...

Sandra and Efraín
are the second team to finish their cake.

TIME SAVED

No! They finished!

-Our detail should look good.
-Thing playing the cello.

-Nice detail!
-How about that? Nice.

-It's come together.
-Yeah. We have a shot now.

I'll move it over here. Hold on.

-Hold it here.
-No...

-I'll hold it here.
-Okay.

Oh no! They're moving the cake.

There it is.

-Lift it.
-No!

Bakers!

You have ten minutes left!

It doesn't matter
if you don't save time. Just finish.

There are only a few details left,
but we'll keep working.

-Go! I can't reach it. You do it!
-Hit it!

Ale and Emilia have finished.

TIME SAVED

The moment of truth.

Yeah.

-Ready.
-Yep.

It's upside down.

It's like the Upside Down!

-Surprise!
-Yeah.

What happened?

-Something fell off.
-What?

Dang!

If the cake doesn't get you,
the judges will.

An ear fell off.

There's a broken piece. He's fixing it.

Press there, César.

So much chocolate and fondant,
but we did it!

The Renterías are done!

TIME SAVED

Oh my God.

-Be careful.
-It's okay.

It's Eleven.

Done, Nat.

-Let's hit it together.
-Hit it!

-There!
-They hit the button!

TIME SAVED

-Yes!
-Well done, guys!

TIME SAVED

Almost at the same time!

Should we take a look up close?

-Let's go.
-Come on.

Andrés, Nadia, the first ones to finish.

-Congratulations.
-Thanks.

Tell us about your cake.

It's the show Wednesday
with the stained glass,

which we see throughout the series.

The fact that the cake moves
gives it a huge advantage.

-Yes, what's inside looks delicious.
-Yeah.

I'm sure it'll taste good.

Attention, One Piece fans.

The boat is the Going Merry

from when they all set sail
in the last episode.

-I haven't seen it yet.
-Spoiler alert!

I love that you didn't just use fondant
but several techniques.

So there are many effects going on.

The wave is a bit more matte

compared to the bright gelatin
in the foam.

-You used the sand very well.
-Thank you, chef.

-How gorgeous. Look at that.
-Exactly.

In the show Wednesday, at the dance,

there is a bit of fog,
so we wanted to showcase that.

The bottom is inspired
by the dress she wears at the dance.

The top is the instrument she plays,
the cello.

I think what I like the most

about the whole cake
is how detailed Thing is.

The paint is very skillfully used.

Though the fondant
on the cello isn't in great shape.

It's an old cello.

We used sculpture techniques
for the top part.

We also used modeling chocolate

and countless other methods
to make this cake.

I'm so impressed with the final product.

I thought it would crumble.

I was a nervous wreck the whole time.

I'm impressed with how impactful it is.

It's scary. When you see it, you go...

We're big fans of Stranger Things.

Elda said, "Let's do Eleven,"
one of the main characters.

We also have the other dimension
with the Demogorgon.

I wonder what would've happened
if instead of showcasing

both characters, you had chosen just one.

-It would've looked better.
-There's no point in wondering.

I hope it's as delicious as it looks.

-Let's hope so.
-Yeah.

This is the biggest cake ever featured
on Sugar Rush: The Baking Point.

It's even bigger than its creator.

-Yes.
-Yeah, true.

We were inspired by Morticia.

We aimed to combine
our techniques with fashion

to make something different.

To assess the cake with the back support,

or do you want to risk cutting it
and see what happens?

We didn't feel this project
was about gravity.

So we hope that doesn't affect our score.

I beg to differ. It's important.

In my opinion, it should stand on its own.

We have no choice.
It's the only way we can present it.

Visually, we are all blown away.
Congratulations.

We'll see what happens
when you cut four slices.

I don't know from where,
but we need them at the judges' table.

See you there.

Andrés and Nadia,
please bring us your four slices.

We'll find out if we nailed it.

We decided to make it
with a chocolate cake, with mayonnaise,

blackberry mousse,
and rum and nut sponge cake.

I would've liked the layers
to be more uniform.

My piece is a bit uneven.

This is the first time I've encountered
the texture of mayonnaise in chocolate.

It's a first for me.

Seeing our slices of cake
in front of them is blowing my mind.

We used purple to represent
the gum-gum fruit.

We wanted something tropical
and refreshing

that tasted like devil fruit.

We used coconut milk syrup

with a hint of rum
to give it that pirate-like flavor.

It's weird for me to eat
a refreshing bread.

I felt it.

The only issue is
that the sponge cake is a bit dry.

But look at this!

I hope they like it.

That they find it interesting.

It's a popcorn sponge cake
with a blonde chocolate ganache

and a lyophilized raspberry caramel.

Why is it green?

So it stands out.

-There you go.
-The red fruit could be more tart.

The cake is a bit too sweet.

It felt like yogurt in my mouth,
and I liked that.

I think we made the Renterías very proud.

We made a moist chocolate sponge cake,

a fried almond mousse,

and a hazelnut crunch
with chocolate and coffee toffee.

Maybe if it was fluffier,
and not compact, like a brownie,

that would have brought it up a level.

Chocolate and almond
is a timeless combination.

It's incredibly well-balanced.
I wouldn't change a thing.

I think we did something
incredibly risky and creative.

We have a sugar lace.

We blended the chef's dried fruits,

some caramel notes for Mis Pastelitos,

and some chocolate, thinking of Kike.

But we also added a subtle note of coffee.

I think it needs to be creamier,
and the sponge cake was a bit dry.

I felt like I ate Morticia.
But you know what?

It's hard to get a fabric to taste good.

And I took two bites of this one. Three.

-So, are we going for the million?
-Yes, the million and the prize.

And the trophy. Yes!

As an '80s kid,
what I like about the series

is that it's set in the '80s.

So we wanted to recreate
some of the things I ate as a kid.

We wanted to combine something very homey.

Like strawberry with lime, a smooth cream,

and the classic vanilla cake.

I think you nailed it.

Right now, my inner child is very happy.

-Great!
-Aren't we missing something crunchy?

If they had added something crunchy,

then it wouldn't be like a cake
from our childhood.

True. Luis is right.

-Are we going home?
-I'm not sure.

This is close. I don't know.

Bakers, let me remind you
that the first place team

will gain an hour for the finale.

And the second place team

will gain half an hour,
if they make it that far.

My friend Kike will give you
the sweet news.

In second place are...

Elio and César!

Elio!

-Our first half an hour.
-For the finale.

If we make it that far.

-Thank you very much.
-Thanks.

There was a cake
that completely blew our minds.

It met all our expectations
and tasted absolutely delicious.

The cake that takes the top spot is...

Oh dear Lord.

-Sandra and Efraín's!
-No way!

-This is for our son.
-Yeah, for our son.

Two teams didn't quite hit the mark

and didn't meet the judges' expectations.

One of them will be sent home
from this competition

and miss out on a million pesos.

The first team up for elimination is...

Emilia and Ale.

Come to the front, please.

Dang.

We're really nervous, but well,

there's always hope.

You are up for elimination.

But so is another team.

That team is...

My eye is twitching.

I'm gonna have a heart attack.

I'm shaking.

The team that is also up for elimination

in Sugar Rush: The Baking Point is...

THIS SEASON

Grab your mixers! Your time starts now!

This second season
is packed with surprises.

You will replicate reality.

Which is which?

My son!

The most impressive and spectacular cake.

-Antigravity.
-Come on!

I came here to bark and judge.

-The cake is thick.
-I got cut.

-Turning the heart.
-We have visitors!

They won't cooperate.

Are you okay, bro?

-It's like a workout.
-Mom!

There is a mystery fourth team.

-Who can it be?
-I can't.

-I'm such a crybaby.
-I didn't like it.

-Stress!
-Baking is an extreme sport.

A million-peso prize is at stake!

And the trophy too!
