01x07 - Bares All

Post by bunniefuu »

I wish they had pain-o-vision

So you could feel
what we went through.

My greatest fear was dying.

Narrator: 12 survival experts,
all complete strangers...

I see you're naked.
I know.

...took on the toughest
challenges of their lives.

One man and one woman
were paired up

With the sole aim to survive
21 days

In some of the harshest
environments on the planet.

They had no water, no food,
and no clothes.

Just follow
the white butt cheeks.

In six countries
around the globe,

They faced
physical and mental traumas

That none could have
ever anticipated.

I can't take this.

Now, for the first time,

With previously unseen footage
from the 21-day challenges...

c*ck. Mmm.

...the survivors
and their loved ones reveal

A unique perspective

On the everest
of survival challenges.

So, you were bad-mouthing me?
I was pissed.

Narrator:
this special episode sheds
new light on the highs...

Got him.
...and lows

Of the most demanding
and authentic

Survival series ever created
as "naked and afraid" bares all.

Laura: there was
nothing romantic about it.

Narrator: surviving in the wild,
in the harshest conditions,

With no protection from clothing

Was the toughest challenge
these experts ever faced.

Laura:
this was hands down the most
unique experience I've ever had.

Being naked out in the wild
with a strange man was crazy.

Yep. The weirdest thing
I've ever done.

Puma:
I took my clothes off.

I'm standing there naked,
staring at the jungle.

And it occurred to me
that I'm a bit of a dummy.

"What the hell am I doing here?"

Here we go.

Narrator: but the first problem
to overcome

Was when two total strangers

Met for the first time
completely naked.

Well, there's my partner.

This is not awkward
at all.

I see you're naked.

Billy: yeah, I know.

Billy: to meet this woman
for the first time,

And she's naked,

That's when it really hit home.

This was as real
as it was gonna get.

Should we and just, like,
check each other out now?

We might as well do it right now
just to get it out of the way.

Get it all out.

Hello.
Aloha.

David: when we heard
that alison was gonna be

In a discovery
survival show

Without clothes
with a strange man,

As a father,

There's always
this brief impulse of, "what?"

Just follow
the white butt cheeks.

It made me nervous,

The idea
that she's gonna be out there

With this naked dude.

The one piece of advice
I said is,

If it gets cold,
she's the big spoon.

We're naked.
We might as well, uh, hug here.

E.j.:
There's no romance here.

We're two people --
first time in africa.

You do what you have to do.

This is serious.
It's no joke.

It's not, you know,

"Oh, look at those two out there
naked, running around."

This could be life-threatening.

You better at least have
the will to survive.

Otherwise, you won't make it.

I think it's just --
he's crazy.

I didn't perceive it as
them being naked together.

I didn't perceive it
as this couple.

I perceived it
as teammates

Working together
to try to survive.

Awesome!

Maybe get something
to cover our bodies

So we're not getting thorns all
in our a*s because this bush --

Actually, I have one in my a*s
that I can't get out.

So, I don't know
if you feel like...

I don't.
...doing the honors.

There it is right there.
Hold on.

Aah.

Hold on.
I almost got it.

I think it's good. Okay.

Awesome. Thank you.

I don't think
either one of us realized

What we were
really signing on for

As far as what a real,
serious challenge this is.

People can say what they want.

You're not doing it.
We're doing it.

And just sit there on your couch
and enjoy the show.

Isn't that true?

I think we should
test our bed out.

Yeah, we should do that.

Yep. Definitely.

Here we are
in our orangutan nest.

Yeah.

It's definitely what it is.

Julie: it was cold, and we had
to huddle together to keep warm.

It was definitely
a little weird for me.

Here I am laying naked next
to a man that I don't even know.

I thought it was gonna be a huge
issue sexually, but it wasn't.

You know,
jonathan's not exactly my type.

Shane: we're dirty and sweaty
and smelly,

And both me and kim
were pretty raunchy.

Yeah, there was no way we were
gonna have sex together.

There was no way.

I'm all tucked into bed.

I'm ready to hopefully get
a good night's sleep.

I know you're thinking,

"Naked guy,
naked girl out in the wild.

Romantic situation."

Just laying out in the open

Waiting for mother nature
to take a *bleep* on me.

No.

There was nothing romantic
about it.

Clint: I'm a really,
really light sleeper,

So if anything does
come in camp,

I'll probably be
the first one to wake up.

I really like a lot of space
when I sleep.

Like, sleeping is my alone time.

I don't like
sleeping next to someone,

Like, near someone.

So, what do you think?

Clint:
yeah, laura woke up
on the wrong side

Of the palm leaf this morning,
so...

Don't tell her I said that.

Puma:
something's out there.

Hello?

Narrator: while the survivors
got to know each other

Huddling together
in their shelters...

...they all quickly became aware

That they were not
the only ones in their camp.

Billy: that first night,
the swamp's coming to life...

Just heard something
walking on land over there.

...was really scary.

E.j.: I heard hyenas.
Kellie: there he is.

I got to get
*bleep* out of here.

Kellie?
Clint: what is that?

Got my eyes peeled.

A caiman! Oh *bleep*

There's a little one
right there.

Holy crap!

Julie: there's something
moving around down there.

I'm gonna check it out.

Billy: hey, don't move.
There's a snake over here.

Ky: I think my biggest concern
out there was the snakes.

They were everywhere.

Got him.

Ouch!

Oh, did he bite you?

Or is that a cut --
no, he bit me.

I was really fortunate
'cause I had billy,

Who's great at chasing them away

Or k*lling them
if we needed to eat.

I promise,
you will not go to waste.

I promise I'll make it quick.

I really think the only time
billy was happy out there

Was when he was k*lling
those snakes.

Got him.

Wow.

It really brought out
the man, maleness in him.

Every time he bites me,
he's...

He's drawing blood.

He's got -- they've got teeth.

So, you can see he just hit me
a couple of times.

He got me.
He got me right there.

You can see his --
that's where his top jaw hit,

And I guess
that's his bottom jaw.

It's, like, perfect mouth shape.

They're not venomous obviously,
but they do hurt.

When you are out there,

You got to do what you go to do
to survive.

Have you ever eaten snake
before?

Yep.

I haven't.

You haven't?
No.

Just like chicken?

Everything tastes
like chicken.

At least,
that's what they say.

I didn't know that these guys
ate other snakes,

But apparently they do.

We'll see it.

It looks like
it's a garter snake.

Ky: so, we've got
a snake in a snake.

I've never seen a garter --

And he's got
a tadpole in him, too.

Well, he had a fully belly,
that one.

So, this will be good.
We'll feast tonight on snake.

Narrator:
dealing with dangerous predators
was a constant threat.

But starvation quickly set in...

My whole body almost feels
shaky, you know?

...making them
desperate for food,

No matter how repulsive.

Here you go.

No, I'll pass on that.
Thanks.

These are edible, right?

I mean a lobster is nothing but
a c*ck of the ocean,

So probably.

c*ck. Mmm.

Jonathan: we cut open
the palm trees, you know?

We found coconut grubs.

Perfect.
Alison: yeah, baby.

They're ugly, big-looking worms.

They're fat.
They're full of guts.

I mean, it's just crunchy,

And you could feel the pooper

And the eyeballs go down
and everything.

It's just crunchy and nasty.

Bon appétit.

It's egg. It's good.

It's a good find.

You have egg on your face.

All right.

Well, I was gonna chicken out
and not eat this earthworm,

And then, I decided actually
I am gonna eat the earthworm.

There and being hungry --

I mean, I was able to eat things
that I didn't think I could eat.

You know, I kind of, like,
put it next to my lips.

I'm like,
"I'm not sure about this."

Aah!

Ew, its poop is coming out.

Ew.

Aah!

It's kind of wiggling still.

I'm totally eating
more of those.

Kind of crunchy with the dirt.

Narrator:
subsisting on grubs and bugs

Is not enough to survive
the 21-day challenge.

Alison:
so many hunger pains

That we actually
sat there one night

And did a diagram
and had a discussion

Of who on the crew we were gonna
eat if it came down to it.

Narrator: needing at least
2,000 calories a day,

They all had
to step up their game

In the quest for protein.

Oh, look, look over there.
Zebra.

Yeah, and wildebeest.

Don't k*ll anything
we can't carry,

That's like bigger
than an elephant.

Kellie:
we didn't care what it was.

If we could hunt it --

We ate anything
we could get our hands on.

Ooh, I hear him.
*Bleep*

We're eye to eye to a mongoose.

It means potential for food.

Here he is. Here he is.
He's on my right.

Come up from behind him.
Back up and go behind him.

E.j.:
I'm coming under the rock.

He's in here, so get him.

I see him. I see him.
He's right there.

Ohh!
You hit him.

But you didn't hit him good.

He's under the rock.
He's coming under the rock.

Here we are,
me with stick and stones,

And e.j. With his clubs

And literally like cave man,
cave woman,

Chasing around
this little mongoose

Like a predator.

And that's what I became.

I don't know where he went.

He's right there.
We got him surrounded.

Right down here.
He's right in there.

Coming back up.

Yeah! Whoo!

You got him.

Yeah!

Whoo!

I don't think the jungle
wants me here anymore.

Narrator: "naked and afraid"
continues to bare all

With new,
never-before-seen footage.

My health and my well-being

Is more important
than this challenge.

It was my
son's 18th birthday yesterday.

Shane:
I just k*lled the world's

Deadliest *bleep* snake
butt-a*s naked,

And it's not big enough for her?

Are you *bleep* man?

Kim: I feel like *bleep*

Shane: all I'm trying to do
is survive.

Narrator: six couples
of complete strangers,

All experts in survival,

Took on the toughest survival
challenge of their lives.

None of them were prepared

For the overwhelming
physical traumas they faced.

And no one was left unscathed

By an experience
they would never forget.

So cold.
I'm, like, physically shaking.

Damn it!

The one thing I'll say
that's hard to imagine

While you're sitting back home
watching this --

I wish they had pain-o-vision

So you could feel
what we went through.

Aah!

Yeah, this is
so much *bleep* fun!

Hungry, tired, cold, hot,
dehydrated.

Aah!

It is just unexplainable.

Naked sliding.

Oh, my god.

Ow! Mud up the a*s.
Vine to the *bleep*

Ky: I don't think
you can ever understand

The physicality that's required

To complete 21 days
in this sort of environment.

Narrator: every pair had to face
an unknown environment

That quickly became their enemy.

They endured conditions so tough

That each expert was pushed
to the limit of their endurance.

Every moment captured

By a small crew
documenting the challenge.

Julie: it was raw out there.
I mean, it was real.

And people can't really see that
just from a camera.

Moving through this jungle
is impossible.

My body took a huge beating
out there for 21 days.

I mean, I broke three toes.

One was fractured significantly
on my right foot.

It caused extreme pain.

I broke it on day four.

See for yourself.

I hope you like that one

'Cause I will not
be doing that again.

That was *bleep* gnarly.

Yep.

Aah!

Oh, my god.

That is one *bleep* drop.

Holy *bleep*

There was nothing
to hold on to.

I tried to grab roots,
and they just broke.

I got a nice video of it.

Out here,
nobody would even find you.

It would be hours and hours
and hours

Before you guys found out
where I fell.

And that's pretty scary.

Laura:
blood. Oh, my god.

That's really bleeding.

This show is the real deal.

Like, we are subjected

To whatever the environment
throws at you,

And you can never predict

Whether it's gonna be wildlife,
the weather,

Cutting yourself, or --
our feet rotted off.

Oh, my god.

I mean, you are out there 24/7,
and there is no button

That you can press
to get out of it.

*Bleep* bugs.

This sucks.

They're so painful.

Of all the physical things
we had to deal with,

Absolutely the worst
was the bugs.

This is the worst itching
I've ever experienced,

And it's all over my body.

Ky:
it's the little things that your
senses are just inundated with

That become
the big battle to get through.

It'll take me a couple days

To clean all the ticks
out of my genitalia area.

Narrator:
as the hours turned into days,

The grim reality
of the situation

Made everyone question

Whether they had enough
to complete the challenge.

Heat exhaustion has already
definitely set in.

I'm burnt and miserable.

100% Humidity and 100 degrees.

We're only 20 miles
from the equator.

It's ridiculous.

Oh, my god.

Being in the sun, you know,
almost 12 hours

And walking around the island --
being burnt that bad

Was one of the most
miserable things I ever
put myself through.

Oh, my god.

I don't want to be here no more.
I just want to go home.

I was this close to quitting.

I don't want to stay there

And continue being burned
for another 20-something days.

I was pretty much
telling producers

That I wanted to quit.

The second I'm in the sun,
it just feels like I'm in hell.

It's ridiculous.

This heat
is really, really hot.

It's excruciatingly hot.
It's ridiculous.

My fear is I don't want
to go to the hospital,

And I don't want
to leave my partner alone.

But my health
and my well-being

Is more important
than this challenge.

Oh, my. What a day.

Oh-h*-h*.

A lot of heat.

Some interesting drama.

Poor jonathan.

Man, he is fried.

I definitely don't think

That jonathan was overreacting
to the sunburn.

If it doesn't
get any better tomorrow,

And I get more sun

Just by fixing this
or looking for food,

It's gonna k*ll me.

It did start to make me question

Whether his skill level
in primitive survival

Was gonna be up to snuff.

Jonathan: I don't care
how badass and big you are.

You put yourself
with a sunburn like I had,

You're gonna puss out
and want to quit.

I pretty much reconsidered

'Cause I don't want
to disappoint my daughter.

I want to be a positive example
for her,

And I don't want her dad
to be a quitter.

Billy: you've got
so many unpredictable things

That are gonna happen
when you're out there.

The weather can turn on you.

It's really hard to stay warm

When it's wet and cold
and you have no clothes.

E.j.: That is the hardest thing
to imagine,

Going from 96 degrees
heat of the day,

And you know, it would drop

Close to hypothermic
most every night.

Ooh!

That storm that came,

The crew couldn't make it
to the island.

So, guess who was filming it
and trying to survive?

Ah, it's taken the roof
right off of our other shack.

Holy gnarly out there.

Man, it's wild.

Pretty brutal.

This is not
the island of luxury.

This is not the paradise
you always think at home.

This is the dead center
of death.

The heat during the day

And now these monsoon-,
typhoon-type winds

And cold, cold, chilly rain --

This is definitely not the place
to be stranded on.

Of course,
now the hard part begins.

Hunger sets in.

E.j.: The effects
of sleep deprivation,

Food deprivation,
dehydration --

I know what that can do
to a person's body.

There was, I think,
a stretch of five or six days

Where we had no food.

Now I've lost some muscle.
I've lost fat.

And I know we're at the point

Where our bodies are starting
to consume themselves.

My greatest fear was dying.

I feel sick.

I don't know
what's wrong.

Somebody told me that there's,
like a green bile in turtles.

I had never heard of that.

I might have eaten it.

I don't think the jungle
wants me here anymore.

I'm not listening.

Puma: a million ways to die
in the jungle.

I was looking out
for snakes and boars

And trees falling on my head,

And it was the invisible world
of the microbes

That took me down.

I don't know what it is.

I've got a gnarly fever.

Body aches.

That was probably
the sickest I've ever been,

Pretty dang close.

The worst fever
I've ever had for sure.

I had hallucinations
during those fevers.

It was pretty harsh.

I really -- I can't believe

That puma actually drank
that water.

He never told me
anything about that.

Puma: I spent a week
in a hospital in borneo.

To this day, two months later,
I'm still not 100%.

I'm still feeling it.

I've been watching
some of the other episodes,

And I think the one thing
that I feel I've been robbed of

Is the elation
of completing the challenge.

I really wish I could have
experienced that.

Overall,
this experience was dangerous.

Every day, there was something

We had to concern ourselves with
to protect ourselves.

Really convinces you that you
ain't that badass out there.

Any minute,
anything can take you out.

Watch it!
Aah!

These are the things that people
don't even comprehend.

They look
at the survival situation

And see the big picture like,
"yeah, I could just sit there

For 21 days and
get out of it."

As tough as this challenge was,

As physically demanding,
I don't tap out.

I don't give up. I never quit.

I'm not gonna give up
on my partner,

Let alone this challenge.

I just would not do it.

Yeah, I'll give you
a survival challenge.

He's going on
to your next one.

That one looks pretty good.

Next one? What?
There's not another one!

Aah!

If we don't find water
within the next two hours,

We're gonna have to come up
with a "b" plan,

And I'm not sure
what that is.

Narrator: every expert was given
a primitive survival rating

Or psr.

The psr was based
on three categories --

Skill, experience, and mental.

But applying those skills
successfully

Over 21 days
in the harsh environments

Was a formidable task.

Alison:
there's no faking it out here.

You have to be a survivalist.

Jonathan:
you do what's important,
I'll do what's important,

And we'll survive.

Regardless of what it is,
we need to find food.

We need it bad.

The materials out here suck.

The things you need to make
a good fire are just not here.

We had skills,
and it was that tough on us.

Think about it.

If you didn't have
a single skill,

What would you do?

You want to go out
and test your skills.

Mother nature
spanks you back down again.

Son of a...

It's a humbling experience.

Fire's gonna be a trick
in this environment.

I think getting off the ground
is gonna be really important.

Kim: let's find pieces
with y's in the top.

Then we don't
have to worry about

Lashing it insanely
to keep it elevated.

Do you know
what I'm talking about?

Okay. That's fine.

Narrator:
although forced to overcome
these challenges together,

Team members often had

Different approaches
to getting the job done.

But they don't work
worth a *bleep*

You let me know
if you have another idea,

And we can work on it
tomorrow.

No, I don't have an idea now.
No idea's gonna work.

I can't do it
like that.

It's okay.

It's either the right way or
it's -- I can't do it like that.

Laura: having clint
out there with me --

Our approaches to survival
were really different.

I'm more of a risk-taker,

And clint was
a lot more cautious.

Clint:
survival is all about knowing

When to exert yourself
and when not to.

I simply had
a realistic approach,

And, you know,
I wasn't out there

To show off for the cameras.

Laura: to me, the very word
"survival" is like living.

Right? I'm surviving.
I'm existing. I'm living here.

Yeah, there's a lot of stuff
out here

That can put a hurt on you,
so it's good to be cautious.

Laura:
I don't do this 'cause I want
to live a boring life.

I do it because it brings me
to places like this

That are so amazing.

But one day,
clint really surprised me.

We were standing under

The water apple trees
setting traps,

And all of a sudden,
out of nowhere,

Behind me, I hear this, "thwap!"

And clint had just knocked

A tiny, little bird
out of the tree with his gig.

It may look *bleep*
I don't care.

I'm hungry.

You're only gonna
feel like a *bleep*

When you open it up

And you see how little meat
there is in there.

Well, you know what?

I know.
It's something.

Yeah.

I couldn't believe he had
that kind of reaction time

And that he had
that kind of aim.

I was really proud of him.

I haven't even tried
fishing with it yet.

Don't need to.

Don't need to
when you got skills.

Man.

I wish we had
some wild carrots or something.

So, of course, we cooked it up,

And it made a really tasty,
if not small, dinner.

Wow.

Bob is awesome.

Wow.

I made fun of you,
but nice work.

There is a method
to my madness.

Building one big shelter,

We can both fit on one bed
that's elevated off the ground

So we can use each other as body
heat to keep each other warm.

How's it going,
shelter man?

Looking good.

Well, it's interesting because
in survival,

They say the number-one thing
is to build your shelter.

Well, clothing
is your number-one shelter.

Yes.

And, you know, I'm not a nudist.

I'm like macgyver.

I can weave a hat
or make a blanket

Just using
the elements of the island.

Jonathan:
alison definitely had talent

For making the baskets
and knitting hats.

Items of necessity --
shoes, hat, blanket, baskets.

Don't want to make
a coconut bra.

If I take coconut husks,

We can make ourselves
some shoes.

It's a meditation for me,

And it's, at the same time,
an essential.

I think the challenge is

That there's so many things
I want to do

And that I'm capable of doing

And things that would
be so cool.

Jonathan:
I told her -- I was like,
"why are you wasting your time

On all this knitting baskets
and stupid hats

When we should be hunting
for food and looking for water?

This is a samoan mat,
a samoan blanket.

But you could also use this
for fishing.

Blah. A blanket.

Or you could flip it
and carry things in it.

Very handy
for carrying things in

Like coconuts, a dead body,
in case jonathan dies on us.

A lot of people
have been questioning,

"Well, girl, why didn't you make
him a hat if he was so lobster?"

Actually, I made
that first hat for jonathan.

I need to get you a hat --
a big one.

And he refused to wear it.

I tried.

You're not
a basket weaver?

Jonathan: once we have food,
shelter, water,

Then we can joke around.

Then we can weave baskets.
Then we can relax.

Nothing.

Coconut jockstrap.

I cannot believe
you just said that.

I'm not gonna put up
with this *bleep* anymore.

You ready?
I'm mad.

Come on, e.j.

You know, when you get thrown
into a survival situation,

Teamwork's important.

Go past what you've been doing
and stop.

Just give it everything.

Definitely is.
Yeah.

Yeah!

Blow on it.
There you go.

You ready?
Yeah.

We found ways,
while we were out there,

Slowly but surely, to adapt

To what mother nature
was doing to us.

Fire! Yeah!

The trick is, heat them up...
Awesome.

...and then put them
on your ankles.

Cool.

The noni leaves are working.

My swelling in my foot's
going down.

It's pretty awesome.
It feels amazing.

There's the confidence factor
when you do have success.

Help hold this
and tie it around here.

And then, you just put
one of these at the bottom.

Drink, drink!

Look how fast
it filled up.

Oh, my god.

We got two lobster!

No kidding?
Yeah.

Can you believe it?
High five!

Go out into the woods,

Give mother nature
a little kiss,

And you will feel like

A human being on planet earth
for the first time in your life.

I guarantee it.

There is a god.

Whoo!
Come get a drink.

Yeah!

Billy, that is dry land.

We're gonna make
this swamp our b*tch!

Narrator:
coming up, survivalists battle

With their emotions
and each other.

I wish I would've known

What I was getting into
before I started this.

For a girl that never even
asked me one *bleep* question --

She never even asked
my *bleep* damn last name.

I'll be
by my *bleep* self.

Kiss my *bleep* a*s.

Yeah.

He's kind of like --
that's crazy.

Ky: I don't think
many people realize

How long three weeks really is.

Narrator:
all of the survivalists
had to face up

To incredible
physical challenges,

But as time wore on,
what surprised them all

Was the psychological toll

Of the constant,
daily struggle to survive.

I'm just scared, you know?

Like, I'm out here in the middle
of the *bleep* jungle.

I think mentally is the part

Where this challenge
was the most extreme.

I'm scared.

I know
that the most important thing

To keep control of
is your own mind.

Shane: because my brain
just wouldn't function.

I couldn't get it to focus
on anything

Other than primal,
survival stuff.

See, I couldn't focus on words,
sentences, anything.

My brain was gone.

Without food and water,

Your mind is probably one of
the first things to go.

Hoo.

Hoo.

Hoo.

Hmm.

It was my son's

18Th birthday yesterday, and...

I really wish I could have
been there for him.

I mean, I know he gets --

He understands why I'm out here
with this challenge,

But personally,
I'm sad that I'm not there.

But, ty,
I know when I get back there,

You and me, we're gonna go
to your favorite spot

Where you and me go
all the time.

I just want to cry.
I just want a fish.

I'll make a deal with you.

If you come in
and let me eat you,

I'll basically
do anything you want.

Just bite my hook.

I'll make little fish pompons,
and I'll do fish cheerleads.

I wish I would've known

What I was getting into
before I started this,

'Cause I wouldn't have done it.

There's no way.

I can't stay in this damn swamp.

It was really difficult for me
to maintain a positive attitude

Considering the difficulties

And how the odds
were stacked against us.

Billy:
*bleep* man.

Honestly,
I mean, I'm done.

I'm done with
this freaking place.

I don't want
to be here anymore.

Ky: we're gonna get
through this, billy.

So, billy has an amazing set
of survival skills,

But sometimes, I worried

That mentally he wasn't ready
for this challenge.

*Bleep*

This ain't gonna work.

This is when I get pissed
and start breaking *bleep*

Honestly,
I mean, I'm done.

*Bleep* man.

I mean, this place sucks.

Tonight, my morale
is at an all-time low,

The lowest it's ever been
since I've been on this show.

I just want to get through this
and get home.

I'm tired of starving,

Mosquitos eating me alive
like they are right now.

God dang.
They feel like bees.

Ky: I mean, I feel like billy
found the nights the hardest.

There was one time
when he's like,

"I wish I had someone
to talk to!"

And I'm like, "wow.
What am i?"

I figured tonight was gonna
be a mother.

He definitely struggled
with the nights,

And that made them a little bit
harder for me, as well.

It's not good.

I'm not
naked and afraid now.

Now I'm naked
and pissed off.

But then,
the daybreak would come,

And the billy blues
would get shook off,

And he would face another day.

I don't want to give up,
and I'm not gonna give up

'Cause I don't want people
to say,

"Well, hell,
you came this far.

Why did you give up?"

You know,
they don't know.

They've never done
anything like this before.

I've never done
anything like this before.

When you're surviving,
it's a roller coaster.

You can have an...

Whoo-hoo!

...overwhelming success,

And then, 20 minutes later,
a crushing defeat.

I mean, I --

I gave up
my girlfriend's 40th birthday

To come out here
and suffer like this.

And I've got some big apologies
to make when I go home.

That's the way I feel.

Come on, billy.

If you're not going
to throw in the towel,

We got to get moving.

I got to make dinner.

This is not gonna
get us anywhere.

I got mud on my a*s now.

E.j.:
It just doesn't click.

We're from two different worlds,
and it's frustrating.

I'd be better off out here
by myself.

Narrator: in their depleted
mental and physical state,

It was only a matter of time
before the survivalists

Took their frustrations out
on each other.

Clint! Hey!

I finally see
the effects

Of a lot
of food deprivation.

We're starting to kind of get
at each other a little bit

Because these things just start
to wear on you.

When you're with somebody
that long,

You're gonna get sick
of seeing them.

Can we, I don't know,

Explore some other options
of ways to get some food?

Well, you're the one
with all the answers,

Let's see.

Am i?
That's what it seems like.

Kellie: he's telling me
how to walk on thorns,

As if he's an expert.

You act like
you're miss know-it-all,

And I give you that respect.

You do know a lot.
Do i?

Yeah,
you come off that way.

And you're gonna come off
that way on the show.

Trying to *bleep* k*ll me.

I know he's really frustrated,
but I'm really frustrated, too,

I definitely had a little
attitude towards clint.

There was tension.

We need to do a realistic
attempt at food, so...

Well, there's food
just sitting in the ocean.

Clint:
it was like we were married...

I said, "so,
what's the deal, you know?

"Do you think
I'm incompetent?

Do you think I'm lazy?"
And she's like, "no."

And I was like, "then, what's
this, like, body language?"

...without the relations.

I want to stress that.
It was completely professional.

What'd you say
you've been up to?

That's a lot of *bleep* work
to cut that firewood.

It's just that
it's getting really old

With the *bleep* "what have you
done all day *bleep*"

At least one of us
was productive today.

When you are sitting in
the middle of the raining jungle

With somebody
that really bothers you,

Then 21 days feels like forever.

I want to be
by my *bleep* self.

Kiss my *bleep* a*s.

The toughest part, for me,

Had nothing to do with
anything physical.

It was mentally taxing
being out there with shane.

He had a lot of personal issues

That he had not dealt with
in his life.

When you're in
a tough situation,

All of your demons
will come out.

Whatever you want.

'Cause you'll just
make me miserable

Until we don't do
what you want.

That's not true.

It was already a hard enough
environment as it was.

And then, to be put with someone
that I did not get along with

And had nothing in common with
and was not communicating with,

It was very frustrating.

And to watch the show
and see her bad-mouthing me?

I was pissed, man.

For a girl that never even
asked me one *bleep* question --

She never even asked
my *bleep* last name.

I would like us to treat
each other as human beings.

Over time, I was very frustrated
and annoyed

With her criticizing
everything that I was doing.

I mean, she criticized
the building of the lodge.

She criticized
the size of the snake.

I just k*lled

The world's deadliest *bleep*
snake butt-a*s naked,

And it's not big enough for her?

Are you *bleep* man?

I'm talking
to a *bleep* kid

Who thinks she's playing
boy scout and it's all fun.

Yeah.

He's kind of, like,
crazy.

Billy:
keep your eyes out, ky.

Alison: I have to say

That watching
the other episodes --

The locations are wild.

Holy moley.

Please, don't send me to africa.

It's right there.
Hold on.

Aah.

That just looked intense.

I can't do it like that.

I think that all of the guys

Other than myself
were *bleep*

Oh, that's freezing.

I mean, seriously,
you have one item to bring,

And you bring a pair
of *bleep* swimming goggles,

And you're afraid
to go in the water?

Are you joking me?

Well...

I mean, come on.

...yeah, I'm not gonna get
into all the smack talk.

Hello.
Aloha.

If I was to do
another challenge,

I'd definitely want to be

In a different country
and a different partner...

...hopefully,
with a partner like laura,

Who I believe
we have more things in common,

And we can definitely get along
and work together.

And also snuggle.

It sounds dirty.

She probably has a boyfriend.

My girlfriend's
gonna get pissed.

Narrator: 21 days surviving
in the harshest environments

Was a physical
and emotional journey

That brought all survivors
to rock bottom.

Struggling to make it through
the challenge,

They all had to find some last
reserve of strength and will

They never knew they had.

Ky: honestly,

At the end of my rope.

I don't want
to stay out here anymore.

There's a thorn in there.

Aah!

E.j.: When you're getting
grinded down so bad,

Your emotions just start
to snowball.

The thing with this place
is it keeps changing.

So, just when you think

You've got a handle
on what's going on,

It kicks you in the teeth.

I just want a drink of water.

Narrator:
for some, the overwhelming
reality of the situation

Proved to be too much.

Julie:
I just -- I'm scared, you know?

Like, I'm out here in the middle
of the *bleep* jungle.

You know, I never planned

On this being
a trip of suffering.

Don't even want to be here.

I'm signing out now.

Narrator:
18 days into the most difficult
challenge of her life,

Julie tapped out.

E.j.: I've been through
a lot of hard events.

This is one of
the harshest things

I've ever attempted to do.

This was tough.

This was tough.

Just never quitting --
that's the thing.

That's what
our survival story is.

We were down several times,
but weren't out.

I know I'm a changed man.

I'll never forget this.

Billy: we've had some really
rough times out here.

I mean, victory, defeat,
victory, defeat.

And when I go home and say,

"We just engaged ourselves

"In the most insane
survival experience

That's ever been devised,"

I can hold my head high.

Through it all, we kept going.
We didn't give up.

We went all the way through.

It's gonna be good to go home.

It is beautiful.

I don't know of many places
on earth

That are quite as beautiful as
what I'm looking at right now.

And believe me,
I've seen most of planet earth.

I set out on this adventure
to find out what I was made of.

Because I knew
what it was gonna take.

This is the hardest thing
I've ever done in my life.

It took everything I had.

And I still feel like I failed,
like I just didn't do enough.

What'd we eat?

Two snakes, a couple lizards?

I missed that bird
at two feet distance

When I had him dead to rights.

It would have been nice to eat
a nice bird one night.

It just took everything I had.

I'm marking myself.

This mark represents...

All of the emotional
hard times.

My motivation
is just that we're so close.

I'm really, really grateful
for this experience,

But I'm exhausted,
and I'm done with it.

For my tears.

So close.

The 21st notch --

Very long-awaited
day of departure.

I feel like
the king of africa, baby! Yeah!

It's our way out of here!
It's our extraction!

Yeah!

Clint:
that's where we're heading.

Time to get out in the water.

This is our
extraction point.

Billy:
keep your eyes out, ky.

There's a path
for us to take

Up to the extraction point.

Let's go.
Lead the way.

Start going out that way.

I can't tell you
what it feels like.

Joy, sorrow, pain, starvation.

I am so ready
to get the heck off of here.

Doing good, kellie.

We're almost there.

Clint:
I've never felt more alive

Than when I was starving
and thirsty and dirty and tired.

...proportion to the map.

This should be
about the spot.

I can see a clearing.

Let's walk together.

We're over here!

I see them.

There it is!

Yeah!
Yeah!

Yeah! He's coming!

He's coming!

Ky: we did it.

I know exactly who I am now.

I know what I got.

Whoo!

Laura:
I'm really proud of the fact

That even when things were bad,

We pushed through them.

Clint:
it was honestly one of the most
exciting moments in my life.

We totally did it.

Oh!
We *bleep* rock.

When I strapped in,

And I realized
what I had achieved...

Yeah!
Yeah!

...i mean,
I don't think there's words

That can explain the joy
of getting out of that swamp.

Shane: bye, jungle.
Bye-bye, jungle.

Goodbye, costa rica.

This is for all you
who watched us suffer.

Hope you enjoyed
that big wet one.

E.j. And kellie
survived 21 days.

Kellie:
goodbye, africa!

Whoo-hoo-hoo!

Narrator: do you think
you've got what it takes

To survive
21 days in the wilderness

Naked and afraid?

There's a four-foot snake
right there.
