in this daunting wilderness.

massive 12-foot alligators,

The deadly diamondback
rattlesnake,

The largest in the world,

And 500-pound black bears

That ferociously attack anything
that threatens their domain.

The rainy season has begun.

And stifling humidity has spiked

The population
of huge mosquitoes

20 Times the size
of a typical mosquito.

And the forest is crawling
with venomous spiders,

Including
the golden silk orb-weaver,

Which quickly strikes
with a painfully toxic bite.

If I see something
that you shouldn't step on.

If a spider jumps on me.

Tawny: the spiders are literally
in your face, like, every turn.

And I'm terrified of spiders.
