03x06 - Magma Comes to the Surface

Post by bunniefuu »

Ah-ha!

Fire!

Not a scratch.

So far, seems like this
sucker will hold up

to any dragon attack.

- Pretty cool.

-Come to think of it, we
could all use something

to defend ourselves against
those Flamethrowers.

What do you think?
Am I a shield guy?

Yeah. Check it out!

- Or that. K'chow!

-Sweet moves, Kullersen.

-I'm unstoppable.

- Oh, man, that was priceless!

Did you see the look on
his face? He was all...

Come on, lighten
up! It's just a joke.

-You want to get off
Provisional Rider status,

but then you act this way.

-Someone could have been hurt.

Like me!

-Don't sweat them, Webmaster.

They don't understand
our awesomeness.

-Thanks, Jun.

Maybe the shield isn't my thing.

-What about that
lightning rod you have?

It's kind of clunky.

It would be nice to have
something cooler. Like a sword.

Yeah!

- You could turn it into one.
- Or...

you could make a
lightning battle ax!

Or a lightning mace!
Or a lightning helmet

where lightning shoots out
of the eyes! And the mouth!

Oh, yeah!

Or, you know, a-a lightning
sword sounds good.

Great idea.

Let's just stroll on
down to the local forge.

-Well, we might
not need a forge.

All we need is heat. Lots of it.

And I think I know someone
that can help us out.

Not exactly a forge,

but I think he pumps
out enough red-hot magma

to get the job done.

-You want this guy's help?

No.Nope! No thanks.

Last time we saw him,
I got used as bait.

It looks at me the way my dad

looks at a double
bacon cheeseburger.

-Aw, he was just hungry.

And you were the biggest meal.

-That dude's gonna
help you make a sword?

Not likely.

- Something's off with him.

-Yeah. Last time we were here,

this guy wouldn't
stop belching up lava.

And now...

- Nothing.
- Good!

Less a*mo for him to
barbecue my flanks.

-Something's definitely
not right with him.

-What do you think, D?

-Can't believe I'm saying this,

but I better look him over.

Easy, boy.

Just a quick exam.

-You're good. I doubt
he even remembers you.

-He definitely remembers me!

-You want me to do it?
I've got the golden touch.

-No, Eugene. This
is too important.

- How am I supposed
to get off provisional status

-if you never let
me do anything?

- Guys, come on. We
gotta help the dragon.

- I'll do it.

-Place the thermometer
under his tongue.

More in the center, if you can.

Medical science
requires precision!

-Don't worry. This won't hurt.

Ah!

Whoa. He's hot. Real hot.

-That sounds like a blockage.

Could be preventing him
from expelling his magma.

That might be causing
him to overheat.

- What do we do?
- I'd have to see inside him.

-Well, we can't just look
at a dragon's insides.

Unless we cut him open.

Yo! That'd be gnarly!

But seriously, don't do that.
I faint at the sight of guts.

-Eugene's right, unfortunately.

- Totally nailed it.

-Wait. There's an ultrasound
machine in the infirmary.

If I had that down here,
I could see inside of it.

-Great idea! We'll just
plug the machine into...

Oh wait. The Dragon Realm
doesn't have power outlets.

-Guys! What if we took
the Magma Breather

up to the infirmary?

I'm serious!

-How would we get him
up there unseen, Tom?

He's huge and sick and...

- Constantly trying to eat me.

- And if we leave him here?

What are the chances
he'll get better?

-Probably not good.

-So, infirmary's
our only option.

-Mm, mm, mmm!

Alright, riders. Nice.
Let's take a break.

Good progress on that last push.

-Wow. We've gone a whole
five feet!

Epic fail.

-Why did I let him
on the team again?

-Extortion.

-Okay. Okay. Um...

D? It might be time to try

the only thing that's
worked with this dragon.

-Oh, man.

Guess I smell like a
double bacon cheeseburger!

-Not too fast! We need to
keep him on your scent.

Here we are.

-So, does anyone have any idea

how we get a dragon this big

all the way up out
of the fissure?

-Yep! Leave it to me
and Webs. We got this.

-Or how about you two fly up

and scout the surface instead?

-Mm, like recon?

-Actually, I just disabled
the security systems,

- so Eugene doesn't need to...

Oh...

Sorry. I'm so good at my job.

-Maybe next time, Eugene,

when you're off
provisional status.

You think he can fly?

-In his current
state? I don't know.

-Oh no. No, no, no, no, no!

-Looks like he can
fly. Problem solved!

-Somebody catch him!

-We've got him.

- Look at them!

Bet they wish they
had our help now.

Hey, dorks! Coast
is clear up top!

-Thanks for the update,
but we're kind of busy.

- Like I said, nobody
appreciates our awesomeness.

-We have a problem here!

Get underneath him!

-One more leap,
and you're there!

- Going...

Going...

Yes!

Phew! We-we did it.

What took you so long?

Cheesy loop?

-Alright, look.

By now, most personnel
have gone home.

We should be able to
sneak the Magma Breather

into the infirmary
without any trouble.

-What if our parents
come looking for us?

-That is why our parents
just got an email

reminding them we have a class
stargazing project tonight.

No need to thank me.

I'm just saving us,
one butt at a time.

-We gotta move.

-Time to take command.

Alright! Listen up, Wranglers.

-Riders.

- Alex,

you flank the perimeter. Jun,

-you're gonna run
interference. Clarence...

-D'Angelo!

-Whatever. You
watch the lava face.

-Uh, Eugene?

Why don't you hang back
and, uh, guard the dragons?

-You mean babysit? Come on!

You're just blowing
me off again!

-No way. It's a
real important job.

-Important enough to get
off provisional status.

-So, I'm... in charge
of the dragons?

-Yep! That's a great
way to think of it!

You have to make sure
that nobody sees them.

We're entrusting the secret of

the entire dragon
world with you.

-Told you they'd come around.

-We'll be back soon.

But until then, you
do what Eugene says.

- Got it?
- Hear that?

Gene-man's in charge! Oh.

- And Webmaster, too.

-We're just going
to go. Let's move.

-Best get your acts together!

- Hurry. The
infirmary's just inside.

- Alright, move it!

-Shh!

- Seriously? He doesn't fit?

-How did I not see
this coming? Any ideas?

-We could... widen the doorway?

-Or abandon all hope.

-Got 'em!

-Sticks of butter?

-It's time to
grease up a dragon.

-Don't worry. It's unsalted.

-Alright, Riders. Push!

Yeah! Up top!

-Ha! Nice one, Kullers...

-Sit tight, Webs.
I got your back.

As your boss and
authority figure,

I find this lying around on
the mission unacceptable!

Let's put you to work, shall we?

You! Light a fire
to keep me warm.

- And you, feathery one.

- Yeah, you look soft-ish.

Come over here and be my couch.

And you, Webmaster.
You are awesome!

- Just keep being that.

Ah! Ow.

- You sure you're good?

-He's pretty out of it.

Should be safe to examine him.

-I'll stay and
help. Just in case.

- Hey.

So, I know we've
had our differences,

but I'm gonna do whatever
it takes to fix you. Okay?

It's okay. It's okay!

Not okay! Not okay!

Can we get a hand?
Minor complic...

Calm down...
- You stay here and keep watch.

-You guys gotta hide!
Someone's coming!

Hide, horn face!

You, uh, do that
invisible thing!

Webmaster, you gotta
hide from people!

Except me. And the team.

Okay, it is confusing,
but just go!

-You...

-Buzzsaw! Hey!

-You're that weird
kid who thought

the lightning bird was a dragon.

What are you doing out here?

-Oh! Uh, you know,

just a beautiful
evening for a stroll.

I assume you're
out doing the same.

-Buzzsaw doesn't stroll.

He st*lks and hacks!

I heard some
nonhuman-type sounds.

You wouldn't know anything
about that, would you?

-Me? Uh, no!

-I've been out here so long.

Nobody to talk to but myself.

Nothing to think about
but my thirst for revenge!

No matter how keen and
perceptive my eyes are,

I haven't found a thing!

No lightning bird, no nothing!

Starting to think
I might be going...

crazy.

-Crazy? Um,

sounds like you need to talk
to somebody, besides yourself.

-I'd like that.

No! Stop that!

- I'm sure they're fine.

- Maybe I should take a peek.

- Look...

-There's a crystal
blocking his, uh,

magma maker?
Yeah, makes sense.

He doesn't belong in the Crystal
Realm in the first place.

- Yeah. Now,

can you unplug the machine?

-I need you to hold
his mouth open.

-You sure about this?

-I'm the doc. Comes
with the territory.

Hm...

-All of this obsessive
searching, alone in the woods,

it's not good for
the psyche, you know?

-Hm. Prolonged solitude

can have lasting effects.

But you're not mad.

You're complex.

Which tells me it's
deeper than that,

isn't it? Hm?

-For years, I've been toiling
to build this logging company

to make my mother proud.

But just when I start
to make real progress

in this isolated stump-land,

that lightning bird comes
along and ruins it! Ah!

-Ahem. I'm sensing some
deep-rooted anger, Buzzy.

So, um...

I'm hearing that
you're searching

for your mother's approval.

Ah, I have some
experience in that.

-Your mother dressed
you head-to-toe

in a cashmere jumper on
the first day of school?

- No!

I mean, yeah.

And here I thought
I was the only one.

I get you, man.

-And I've always prided myself
on being wildly misunderstood!

Oh, what a breakthrough!

-What can I say? I'm a pro.

- Ew...

Oh! There! That
oughta do it. Alex.

-Feels like his
temperature's dropping.

- That's good.

-So, why does he seem worse?

-Wait. Now, he's actually
starting to feel cold.

-I'm not seeing any magma.

-The crystal didn't
just block the magma.

It-it also stopped
him from producing it!

Dragons are cold-blooded,
like lizards,

so without producing more magma,

he can't keep himself
warm. Which means...

- He's freezing to death!

-We need to increase his
body temperature and fast!

Blankets! Anything!

- Come on, come on!

-It-it's not working!

-He needs to be heated
up, not just kept warm!

-We got to get him to the Fire
Realm. It's our only hope.

-How do we keep him hot
enough to make it back there?

-I got it! But
we have to hurry.

You're searching
for... yourself.

-Wow.

So that untamed life
of a wild stallion

is really just me

trying to tame... me.

-Buzzsaw has been to every
square inch of this forest,

but Buzzsaw has never been...

to Buzzsaw.

-To think I was about
to waste my youth

searching for some
lightning bird

that probably
doesn't even exist.

-Yes! And today is
the day, Buzz-man,

you forget about that search
and begin a new search.

The search for the real Leonard.

-Buzzsaw! It took me years
to establish that nickname.

-Now, you can build

the greatest logging
company of all time!

-Yes! Buzzsaw's empire!

Hyah!

Lightning b...

Bird...

-So, I know this seems

like the kind of thing we
should tell the others,

but considering my provisional
dragon rider status...

this... never... happened.

- Oh, hi! Ready to go?

-Did something happen here?

-Nope!

-Something definitely happened.

But we don't have time for this.

Wei, bring the heat.
Steam blast him!

-Good thinking, Jun.

-We gotta get the Magma
Breather down the fissure.

-Stay with us, big guy.

-The Magma Breather's
not just heavy.

He's unconscious.

-And he's slippery!
And covered in butter.

-Point is, we're gonna need

all the dragons
to pull this off.

- Ready and willing.

-And the provisional
team can watch our six.

-Wei! Keep those
heat blasts coming!

-Aw. I don't know, Webs.

We're watching their six,

and I-I don't
wanna mess them up.

-We gotta descend faster.
Wei is running out of steam.

-We can't go any
faster and balance him!

- He's crashing!
- We got to steady him!

-We're trying!

-Pull him up!

-Ah! Stupid buttery dragon.

No!

Eugene?

-Just bringing up the rear!

Totally nailed it.

Everyone! Spread
out! Grab a tether!

-Listen to Eugene!

-Hear that? They're
listening to us!

- Back it up!

Further! Come on.

Further!

Looking good!

That should do it!

Come on!

-Woo! Fire Realm, here we come!

-Aw, we totally
crushed it, Webs!

-Good work back there.

-Huh!

See? Told you we were awesome.

- I think he was
talking to Webmaster.

Just kidding. You
were both great.

Even I was impressed.

-Well, am I off
provisional status?

- Yeah. You're in.
- Oh! Yeah!

Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

- Guess now I have
to build Eugene a fire suit.

-Feel free to take your time.

- Doing better already!

Nice work, doc.

-So, are you and me
gonna be friends now?

Guess not, but at least
you're feeling better.

-Now, for some
unfinished business.

One silver lightning
sword coming up.
