02x03 - Soft Launch

Post by bunniefuu »

[Marjorie] Um, oh, a package came in for us.

"Dear Oak Canyon staff and guests,

it has come to our attention
that Malibu Realtor Cole Shulman

has returned to your property

and harassed both guests and staff about a personal item

"he had left behind." Facts.

"While the item in question is indeed
deeply important to all

of the Malibu Realtors, - Ugh.

This does not excuse his behavior.

This kind of confirms, like, they really use it together.

Like, this is nasty.

That's filthy.

- Yeah, yeah.
- Wait, so you said in the creek?

Yeah, he said that if it's not in his room,

then it would be in the computer lab

- or it would be down by the creek.
- Ew!

"Rest assured that our organization

has officially censured Mr. Shulman

and put him on paid administrative leave

at our Miami Beach offices.

- That doesn't sound like punishment.
- Right.

"Please accept this basket of luxury gifts."

- [Amy] Okay.
- "Fondly, Malibu Realtors."

All right, well, what are the gifts?

- We might want to disinfect it before we...
- [Helen] No kidding.

- Okay, this looks awesome.
- [Amy] Okay.

It's like a converter for your Tesla charger.

Anybody got a Tesla?

[Claire] I can't drive.

Ozempic travel kit.

That's another thermos.

- Oh, careful. Careful.
- Oh, yeah.

I'll take it, I mean...

Other Anthony wants it.

South Africa, $500 off Pilates atop of Table Mountain.

I'm guessing that's a mountain in South Africa.

Why is Pilates $500?

It's more than that, because it's $500 off.

You're making a lot of assumptions about what we have.

It says property value must be over $5 million.

[chuckles] Save you a couple hundred thousand.

Discount applies only to the Realtor Commission.

- [Kate] What? How is that helpful?
- Oh, whatever.

We don't live like that.

Free veneers from Michael Weiss, DDS.

- Anybody want new teeth?
- Oh!

It's free? Free?

Yeah, free veneers.

Free, I don't got to pay nothing?

You got to go to New York, though.

I'll pay for that plane ticket to get some new teeth.

But Anthony, you have such a beautiful smile.

- [Jackie] I know.
- You got great teeth.

- [Anthony] Is that everything?
- That's everything.

It says good for three composite veneers.

So I get three of them?

- [Jackie] Stop playing with people.
- No.

- Do you get three teeth?
- Three teeth?

Does not cover any medical expenses.

- Other fees apply.
- No.

[contemplative music]

Will you marry me?

No. Kevin!

- [pops]
- [all gasp]

Amy, are you okay?

[Helen] Oh, Jimmy the ally.

It's just grinding my a*s into a stub.

I got to admit, I don't know what to do.

And that's a man in charge.

[applause]

I'm retiring, so my son is gonna be the new CEO,

and he is gonna be great.

We have got the client cookout.

[cheering]

I have my first presentation to our clients as future CEO.

We're Rockin' Grandma's.

I feel like she should be, like, rocking out.

- You know what I mean?
- Okay.

If I go home and tell my parents about this stuff,

they're gonna be like, you're lying.

[Claire] Meeting everyone in person

has really made me feel comfortable opening up.

I shared about, like, a past dating experience I had.

I actually told Jimmy about it yesterday,

and it was my first time telling him that I'm g*y.

And then, today, he wore that shirt.

I wanted to make sure that I showed you I supported you.

[PJ] When Jimmy found out that I was q*eer,

he kept bringing me, like, different flags

to, like, show his support.

He brought me a bunch of, like, rainbow flags.

And then he kept giving me, like, the Nigerian flag

- a couple of times.
- Oh.

You can say it. I can't.

Jimmy, again, Nigeria is a country.

You can say Nigeria.

I'd rather just be safe.

It's a country.

I'll just stick to the countries

that I feel safe saying, like, Chad.

It couldn't be a whiter country name than Chad.

Yeah, but it's in Africa.

I know. The irony.

Yeah, you're... thank you, Jimmy.

How's that step count coming?

[bleep] stupid.

What are you doing, Helen?

- I'm trying to get steps in.
- Oh, okay.

My stupid stepson, Paul, gave me this Fitbit.

I'm supposed to get, like, 10,000 steps in a day.

What is 10,000 steps a day?

It's like, what, 80 miles or something?

Fifty? I don't know what it is. It's too much.

[Doug] Good morning, everybody.

- How are you?
- Good morning.

First of all, it's client cookout time.

[Kate] Today is one of the most important days

of the year for our company.

The client cookout is an annual luncheon

that Rockin' Grandma's throws for our vendors

and our retailers to thank them for their support.

And we all know that Dougie Jr. will be addressing

the clients for the first time.

[cheering]

Well, it's my first client cookout,

so I am cooking up something pretty special.

Mm. I really wish Dougie would tell us
what he's planning for the clients.

So, I just wanted to say that we have some other issues...

something very important that we just got to get to.

And that is that someone has filed an anonymous complaint

with HR about Kevin's proposal to Amy.

- Oh.
- Yes, so evidently, it made somebody

feel very uncomfortable.

It wasn't... No, my gosh. No, it wasn't me. I promise, I...

[Doug] No, it doesn't matter.

Amy, it doesn't matter who it was.

That's why there is a system in for anonymous complaints.

It's brave, though, whoever did do it, though,

because I mean, that's not easy to do.

Uh, okay.

Can we not say who it is?

No, it's anonymous.

That's what anonymous means, you know, so...

I applaud him, because...

Wait, Jimmy, was it you?

It's supposed to be anonymous, but yes, it was me. Yeah.

Basically, Jimmy anonymously complained to Kevin

about his proposal to Amy to Kevin.

And Kevin filed the report.

- On Kevin.
- On Kevin.

I promise, like, I'm actually, like, better. Yeah.

[Doug] Okay.

I wish I could file a compliment.

Okay, well, in light of these developments,

there are now some changes to today's plans.

This report requires us to attend

a mandatory sexual harassment seminar today.

So, let's all just head over to the seminar room right now.

Well, Dad, I actually need this time
to prep for my presentation.

Sorry.

Okay, the sexual harassment seminar
can gargle on my b*ll s*ck.

[Amy] What'd you say?

[Dougie] Oh, dope. They already got the stage up, dog.

We're at three and a half, right?

Yeah, and we'll just make sure
we're getting it nice and level.

All right, sick, you guys are the best.

I got to go to this dumb-a*s seminar,
and then I'll be back.

Are you sure that's three and a half?

The levels are all off.

[Doug] Buddy, it's okay. You'll fix it. You will have time.

[Teri] Yay, well, I'm so glad to be here.

I'm Teri Braun from Braun and Peterson Consulting,

and we're gonna be talking about workplace

sexual harassment.

I know that this presentation was incident-triggered.

Is there someone from HR who can walk me
through why I'm here today?

I work with HR, so I guess that'd be me.

Great, and what's your name?

- Anthony.
- Anthony, hi.

There was an incident where there was a co-worker who

proposed to another co-worker,
and it was, I guess, unwarranted.

I guess he kind of jumped the g*n,

and that made some people feel uncomfortable

about what was allowed in the workplace and what wasn't.

And that's kind of just the gist of it.

So just to be clear, there's two people who are

- in a relationship in this workplace?
- They are not.

- They're not.
- They never dated.

Kevin is our HR person.

And I just want it to be really clear

that I was not the one that filed the complaint.

Um, but yes, I was proposed to. Yes, I said no.

And yes, I'm feeling empowered.

So, the head of HR is who did the HR violation?

- [all] Yes.
- [Teri] Okey-dokey.

Yeah, I anonymously made the complaint.

It's not anonymous anymore.

[Teri] Okay, yeah, you did not have
to share, but I'm glad you did.

So, what is sexual harassment?

Often, it's in a relationship where

there is a power imbalance,
and there are serious consequences

that affect the harasser and the employer.

- I'm sorry, yes?
- No, yeah, just it's funny,

because last night, we watched an episode of this TV show

where it's like two co-workers were told to kiss by a boss.

- Oh, yeah.
- What was the show?

- Bones.
- Bones.

- Yeah.
- I don't know that specific scenario,

but if you're dating in the workplace,
you do want to report it.

They were not dating, but they have chemistry.

Yeah, so the worker was trying
to get a favor from the boss,

and the boss was like, well, you got to kiss your co-worker

if you want me to do this favor for you.

And her gum actually ended up in his mouth

when they were kissing.

Oh, my God, that's her gum.

What?

Oh, my God!

But then the boss was weirded out when they kissed.

Like, you got what you wanted.

No, she was just getting worked up.

That's what that means, you know what I'm saying?

Oh, you think she was into it?

Yeah, that's why she told him to do it.

That was the whole purpose.

I thought she was weirded out.

I didn't even clock that, but you know what?

- She was getting into it, I guess.
- It makes sense, right?

Obviously, this is a TV show.

I understand it's not real, but I do just want

to use this as an example to point out

sexual harassment's tough, because
there's a lot of gray area around it.

Um, so sorry, um...

If we could not use the term "gray area," 'cause...

- I'm sorry?
- You know.

- Why? Uh...
- Gray area.

Gray area is another word for taint.

- What?
- Jimmy!

Wait, sorry, what is "taint"?

Oh, Amy, you know what a taint is.

It's the area between your an*s and your junk.

- Oh, snap.
- [Teri] Thank you for that.

I don't even know where I was.

Dad, can I go now?

You can't leave yet, no, not yet.

Well, I gotta pee.

[Teri] ...and there's like a relaxed vibe, but I, uh...

I'm just gonna go to the bathroom.

Uh, it's okay, it's all right.

It's just a big day, that's all.

Just the biggest day of my life.

If I can have a look at how are we rigged here.

[man] Yep.

I guess I'm getting some ambient, because, yeah,

I'm picking up the ambient from here.

Yeah, that's it, like three and a half.

Really good job, really crushed that. Crushed that.

[Teri] Okay, dive back in?

[PJ] Yes, please.

So, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, I'm sorry.

- What was that?
- Look.

[Teri] Hold on, I'm sorry.

[Helen] It just says gray area.

[Teri] Uh, let's get back on track.

I'm sorry.

An exercise we do that I really enjoy

is I want you guys as a group to come up with a safe word.

So, if at any point you are uncomfortable,

you say this word, and all your co-workers

know you're feeling like something inappropriate

is happening, you need help.

So, I don't know if anyone wants
to get us started by brainstorming.

How about banana?

Banana?

Um, banana's kind of phallic, isn't it?

I just knew he was gonna say something...

Oh, what about hairdryer?

[Jackie] Oh, that's a good one.

I just think of blowing.

[Amy] Oh, my gosh.

What about bongo?

Yeah, bongos are like the breasts

of the percussion section.

Oh, uh, what about paprika?

What?

- God, no.
- No, no, no.

No.

Hold on, what's sexual about paprika?

Nothing, it's just a common ingredient in hot sauce.

- Right.
- It'd be confusing.

I'm down with it, man.

I'm down with it either, right?

Steve, it doesn't matter.

But it's just, it's passive.

It's in the recipe.

Porcupine.

[gasps]

- Porcupine.
- [Amy] That's cute.

- I like that.
- I like porcupine. I like that.

- [PJ] Well, what Jimmy got to say?
- Jimmy?

Porcupine has quills, means stay away.

I think porcupine works.

[Teri] Okay.

- [all] Okay.
- Porcupine works.

- Porcupine?
- Porcupine.

Yay, good job. We got a word.

There's an old saying that, you know,

in the end, we will not remember the words of our enemies,

but the silence of our friends. So...

Who said that, Jimmy?

I'm gonna guess it was said by a strong woman.

That was Dr. King.

Oh, the GOAT.

The goat of what?

The greatest of all time.
He's like the Tom Brady of civil rights.

I've never heard that. I've never heard that in my life.

- We can't sell that.
- It's ill*gal.

We can lose our licensing, and they can sue us.

[Doug] [bleep] Taco Bell.

[Dougie] People love Taco Bell.

[Doug] People are taking orders
for a sauce that we can't sell.

You get that?

[Dougie] Yeah, I guess.

[Doug] You risked everybody's jobs!

[Dougie] I wasn't trying to risk anyone's job.

[Doug] Well, you know what? You let 'em down, man.

You let them down.

And now we've got to figure something out,

because now we have got a problem.

Oh, my God.

[Doug] Did you at least use manzano peppers?

[Dougie] What is a manzano?

[Helen] Oh, you guys, we shouldn't listen to this.

We should go.

[Amy] Oh, God.

[Jimmy] I feel like I've been on that side of the argument

so many times in my life.

[Steve] No question.

[Doug] I can't trust you.

And this changes everything.

[contemplative music]

[Helen] I finally figured out how to get steps on my Fitbit

without having to wear it.

[laughs]

[Anthony laughs] Okay, okay.

Just put it on her wrist., ,

Turn her on.

So, Granny's getting the steps in, huh?

Turn her on.

Yes!

Let's see if it's actually working.

Is it working?

Yeah, it's working.

Okay, let's go.

[Anthony laughs]

[narrator] On the next episode of Company Retreat....

God, k*ll me!

All right, dude, I get it.

You're a failure, I'm a failure. I understand.

- Thank you.
- Hey.

Hey, you had me working this hard,

- and you had a pump the whole time?
- My bad.

Have you seen Dougie?

- Uh-uh.
- No.

Dougie!

[Anthony] There's the golf cart.

Looks like he tried to cover it up or something.

Dang. I would've missed that.

For your own mental health, you need to handle this, man.

- Who's that?
- Oh, [bleep]

[plucky music]
