You'll know a witch
when you find one.
[bell dings]
She said we had a hex
put on us by this girl.
[suspenseful music continues]
[Sarah] All these coven members
feel like, if someone's sending
all this bad magic to us,
then we have
to put a stop to this.
She was using witchcraft
to get people to do
what she wanted them to.
There had been no inkling
that there was gonna be trouble.
Nobody had any idea that any
of this was gonna happen.
[electric guitar playing]
[phone ringing]
The Richland County Sheriff's
Department received a call
a little after 3 a.m.
About stabbings and a sh**ting,
and they needed help.
[suspenseful music playing]
[Kelly] I asked the captain
where he wanted me to go,
and he said,
"Go to the hospital and talk
to the guy that's been shot."
I said, "I sure will."
No one knew if he was a suspect
or a victim at that time.
I walked into the hospital
emergency room.
[machines beeping and whirring]
I pulled his oxygen mask off,
and I said,
"Now, you're hurt really bad."
So, if you want to tell me
something, tell me now.
[suspenseful music playing]
[Kelly] He said that...
[suspenseful music builds]
she put a hex on us.
[insects and birds chirping]
Olney is definitely
a small town. It's quiet.
It's like the movie
Pleasantville, just over
and over again.
There's just not a lot to do
other than maybe hanging out
in the high school parking lot
and going to the grocery store.
I think young women in towns
like this spend a lot of time
trying to connect with other
people, trying to find deeper
meaning or stand out
in an interesting way.
And if I'm being honest,
sometimes for women living
in a small town with nothing
else to do, that level
of boredom can breed bitchiness.
And there are definitely things
that go on in the dark
that we don't always see.
[narrator] Olney might not be
Las Vegas, but there is
one place young women
like to hang out --
the 24-hour Walmart.
My name is
Misty Gangloff.
I started working at Walmart
in 2000.
I'm wearing the glasses
due to migraines.
I started having migraines
when I was around 18 years old.
The red helps tone
everything down.
Olney Walmart, you would have
the strange people come out
when it came in dark,
middle of the night.
[Courtney] If you think about,
like, "The Lost Boys"
or "Buffy," you know, sort
of things feel a little off,
or maybe you're hearing
or seeing things in a small town
that you're not quite sure
if they're there.
And it's easy to make
the leap to think,
"We live in a place where
there's something bigger,
and darker and more
mysterious going on."
[light buzzing rhythmically]
Walmart isn't Misty's dream
job, but it'll do for now.
[rock music playing]
[Misty]
I didn't know what I wanted
to do, who I wanted to be.
I just felt out
of place anywhere.
But working at Walmart, I felt
like I had a couple friends.
I became friends with Oscar Eck
and Jenny Wolfe.
I became friends with Oscar
because of his energy.
It seemed positive.
And then Oscar and I were
living together as roommates.
And then I met Jenny
through Oscar.
[Courtney] Jenny Wolfe was
in her early 20s.
Jenny was a bit of a troubled
soul, didn't have the best
home life, was a little lost
and trying to find herself,
trying to find
family or community.
I thought she was a good kid
because she was younger
than I was.
And I just thought we'd
be good friends too.
We would hang out together,
talk, learn more
about each other,
about our pasts,
what we did,
and everything seemed good.
Misty and Jenny grow closer
and soon discover they have
something else in common
besides Walmart.
I became interested in Wicca
around 2000, 2001.
Somewhere in there.
And it was mainly Earth
and nature and positive.
[Sarah] Wicca is a form
of Paganism.
It's keeping in mind
that everything is connected
in the universe.
[Misty] I talked with Jenny
about the herbs,
the flowers, the crystals,
the stuff that is
supposed to help ward
away the negative.
Misty, and Jenny's mystical
bond over Wicca elevates
their friendship into
a whole new realm.
[Sarah] Witches are everywhere.
You'll know a witch
when you find one.
The thing I love
about witchcraft is
that no one gives you
your power.
You already have it,
and you wield it yourself.
But I think anything that's
about self-possessed power
for women incites fear
in others.
[Misty] Some people relate Wicca
to witchcraft, which are like
two different things,
at least in my mind.
Anything I would do
would be Wicca.
It was never witchcraft.
Wicca is the good, positive.
Witchcraft, depending on
the person, can either be
positive or negative.
[birds chirping]
[music playing over
store speaker]
But there's another witch
walking the streets
of Olney, Illinois.
And she's about to turn this
innocent dabbling
into something much darker.
So Jenny and I worked
third shift together at Walmart.
So we were overnight,
middle of the night.
I had taken Jenny home a few
times in the morning.
And she wanted to know if
I wanted to come in and visit
for a little bit.
And I went in there
and met Irenia.
[Courtney] Irenia was a single
woman in her mid-30s.
She was living with Jenny,
who she had sort of taken
under her wing.
[Misty] Jenny didn't have
any family.
She had told me that Irenia had
taken her in when
she was young.
For Jenny and myself to be
friends, Irenia had
to be involved.
That way, Irenia could keep
an eye on Jenny.
Irenia didn't seem like too big
a presence, but something didn't
sit right to begin with.
I just couldn't pinpoint
what it was.
Irenia seemed like she was dumb
as a box of rocks.
Not only does Irenia seem dense
to Misty, but she comes
off a little desperate, too.
[Misty] I would go to hang out
with Jenny, try to be able to do
something, and Irenia was
just there.
and she was always complaining
about something.
It was always some problem
here or there.
[Courtney] Irenia is always just
sort of there being this weird
kind of "pick me" character
in their lives.
And Misty is not so sure about
this older woman who always
seems to be there.
I believe Irenia was hanging
around with younger people such
as Jenny and myself because
she didn't have anybody her age
to hang around.
It doesn't take long for Irenia
to figure out the perfect
in with the two younger women.
Irenia definitely thought
she was a witch.
She was very much into candle
reading and tarot cards.
Jenny told Irenia about
their shared interest
in the occult, and there was a
bit of a, like, "jackpot moment"
for Irenia.
She immediately pitches that
they should form a coven.
I think when a lot of people
hear the word "coven,"
they immediately think of like
broomsticks and cauldrons
and women in tall hats
and chanting in circles
in the moonlight.
But there's a more modern
version, which is just women
who want to be a part
of something, women who have
interest in things that are
more supernatural or more
adjacent to the occult.
But I was never
coven-comfortable, I guess.
I was more of a loner.
I'd rather go with my Wicca on
my own, that way I know it's not
going to be muddled in any way.
Misty may have no interest
in joining Irenia's coven
but if she wants to keep
hanging out with Jenny,
she'll have to play along.
[Misty] Jenny felt like she owed
Irenia for taking her in.
She didn't have anybody else.
She was afraid she was going
to be thrown out
and on the street.
I felt like she needed a way
out and needed help
to get there.
[Courtney] The three of them
started doing, kind of,
light witchcraft, sort of
things together, like,
saging their home, and casting
light spells, and things.
It makes people feel powerful,
especially people
who previously didn't feel
powerful at all.
Plagued with excruciating
migraines, Misty turns to these
newfound powers to try and get
some relief.
[Misty] I had a voodoo doll.
I would use a needle in
the voodoo doll to try to
release the tension or the pain.
I never used a voodoo doll as
somebody else.
I never envisioned it as
anybody but me.
Migraines are so painful,
and I feel like anyone in pain,
it's understandable to become
desperate to stop the pain.
But the voodoo doesn't work,
and Irenia sees an opportunity.
Irenia tells her that she can
use her magic to take away
this migraine pain.
She made up some bags
of some sort
that were supposed to help.
I think she called those
protection bags.
The protection bags were made
with different
herbs and everything.
We were supposed to have
the protection bags on us
at all times.
[Courtney] She had already
brought Jenny in a way
that Jenny was very much relying
on Irenia for a lot of things in
her life at that point.
And I think Irenia thought
taking away this migraine pain
was a way to bring Misty in
just as close.
Irenia presents herself as
someone who absolutely believes
in the truth
of this power saying,
"I have the answers for you."
I can really see how
everyone aligned with her
and said,
"Okay, guide us, protect us."
Despite almost a year of
casting healing spells,
life for the witches of Olney
has gone from bad to worse.
I still had the migraines.
I still had the issues.
The protection bags never
helped relieve anything.
And if Misty's migraines
weren't bad enough,
Irenia's dogs started
mysteriously falling ill.
That's when Irenia
has a revelation.
These bad things are happening
for a reason.
Irenia told Misty and Jenny
that she had traveled
to Northern Indiana and spoken
to a much more powerful witch
who had told her that a hex
had been placed upon them
and very bad things, potentially
death, is going to occur
if they don't break this spell.
There's this very powerful
witch, who has hexed them,
named Lindsey.
And Misty and Jenny
are sort of like...
"Who is Lindsey?"
[mysterious tones playing]
Irenia said we had a hex put
on us by this girl who I had
never met called Lindsey.
And Lindsey ain't some
no-name witch.
She's been on Irenia's radar
for months.
[Courtney] Irenia had had
a relationship with a man
named Jackie, and they'd had
this passionate affair for,
I think, around four years.
Lindsey Kaysinger happened to
be the woman who Jackie left
Irenia to start
a relationship with.
And at this point, Lindsey is
also pregnant.
I went to school
with Lindsey Kaysinger.
When you look at pictures of
Lindsey, she was a beautiful
girl and just a very sweet,
gentle person.
But Irenia saw Lindsey as
the cause of all
of her problems in the world.
Irenia tells her witches
that Lindsey put a hex on them
because Jackie is still in love
with her.
Lindsey wants to destroy
their coven so she can have
Jackie all to herself...
forever.
In order to survive,
they must find a way
to break the hex.
So it was, "Okay, so this one
put a hex on us, so how can
we reverse it and put it back
on her?"
Did I truly believe it?
I don't know.
[Sarah] Witchcraft
is about power.
Irenia is making sure that
everyone knows how powerful
of a witch she is.
According to Irenia,
the only way to fight a witch
and break the hex is with
more witchcraft.
She said that we needed to jump
over this broomstick.
It was laying on the ground.
And we just walked in a line
and jumped over it.
Then I went through
my Wicca books.
Chamomile was supposed to help
keep the negative away,
so I did go around the yard
and sprinkle chamomile around
the whole yard just as
a protective measure.
They consulted a candle to see
if the flame told them
that the hex was still present.
The flame affirmed
that the hex was still there.
They had not yet broken it.
[insects chirping]
With nothing to show for
their efforts, Irenia tells
Jenny that the dark forces have
spoken to her once again.
The hex cannot be broken unless
Lindsey dies.
But Irenia and Jenny
decide to keep this particular
detail to themselves.
[Misty] Irenia had
suggested going
and watching the house
from a cornfield.
So we went and sat
in the cornfield.
I'm like, "Why are we supposed
to be watching a house?"
That's when Irenia told Jenny to
go put firecrackers
in the gas tank
in one of the vehicles.
The idea is that the car will
explode while Lindsey's
driving it.
And when you think
about it logically,
it actually cannot work.
They are cutting off
the oxygen supply,
meaning the fireworks
just kind of fizzle out,
and nothing happens.
[Courtney]
Jenny believes a hex has
been put on her guardian mentor,
but has also been convinced
that she is at risk,
her friend misty is at risk,
if they don't put an end
to this hex.
But Misty has seen enough.
I thought that this is
a bunch of BS.
Irenia pretty much would tell
you what she thought you needed
to hear to do what she wanted
you to do.
Irenia is losing her patience.
Every day Lindsey is not
destroyed is another day
for the hex to wreak havoc
on their lives.
So she tasks the girls
with an even more direct
and dangerous mission.
Irenia sends Jenny and Misty to
Lindsey's house, and Jenny then
pours gasoline, I believe,
on multiple corners
of the home, sets the gasoline
on fire.
It ignites, and then,
in about five minutes,
it just burnt itself out.
The match does ignite,
but then the fire
extinguishes itself.
Now, Irenia is saying,
"You tried to set her house
"on fire, and the flames
extinguished themselves.
"We're dealing with someone very
powerful here.
We've tried everything else.
Nothing is working."
So the next attempt to m*rder
Lindsey is going
to involve a g*n.
When the indirect attempts to
k*ll Lindsey don't work,
Irenia gives Jenny a g*n,
and she tells her she needs
to just go up to the house,
knock on the door,
and sh**t and k*ll Lindsey.
Jenny's only 20 years old
and feeling fearful
of this act.
[Courtney] Once they get there,
Jenny approaches the home.
And she's just too scared.
She can't go through with it.
Jenny has defied the head witch
in charge.
There will be punishment.
Irenia is so upset with Jenny
that she takes away this magic
salt that she had
gifted Jenny --
the salt from one of her
patented medicine satchels.
Salt is a crucial element
in witchcraft.
It's very protective.
It's cleansing.
[Courtney]
It was probably humiliating,
very upsetting to Jenny,
who is obviously very dedicated
to Irenia and dedicated
to the coven.
Meanwhile, Misty has had enough
of Irenia's power plays.
She decides to distance herself
from the coven.
I stopped going over
and hanging around them.
I stopped being anywhere
near Irenia.
And the only time I would come
in contact with Jenny was
at work.
I was better by myself
than around Irenia.
and Jenny.
But the so-called hex remains,
and Lindsey, growing more
pregnant every day,
still seems untouchable.
Misty's out, and Jenny doesn't
seem to have the guts to do
what Irenia wants.
Irenia needs new minions.
Fortunately, there are people
out there who are even easier
to control than young women.
Young men.
[Misty] She had pulled my friend
Oscar in the mix.
It had to have happened when
Oscar was giving Jenny rides
home from work.
He was also Misty's platonic
roommate and also had interest
in the occult.
After he met Irenia,
he was convinced that she was
very powerful,
somebody who could teach him
the ways of
the occult and witchcraft.
And having two new henchmen
under your command
is better than one.
[Courtney]
So, enter David Linder,
who Irenia met when he traveled
with his roommate to visit
Irenia and Jenny in Illinois.
David seemed like he was a bit
of a big talker, and I do
believe he had some interest
in the occult.
David Linder gave
the impression he was
a bad guy.
Whether it was true or not,
he just put the impression
out there.
[Courtney] He either said he was
in the military or had been
in the military.
I think Irenia immediately knew
that this was somebody who was
potentially going to be able to
hurt or k*ll her target.
And it does seem that Irenia
was able to convince David
that she was a very
powerful witch.
Irenia tells Oscar and David
about the hex and how the only
way to break it is
to k*ll Lindsey.
Oscar has an interest in
the occult, and David is
especially excited to help.
He claims he's a warlock
and has broken hexes before.
[Courtney]
I do believe that Oscar
and David were also seduced
by this idea of power,
that she was somebody who was
very powerful and could imbue
them with the same power.
[owl hooting]
Irenia waits until Jenny
leaves for work.
Then she gathers her new
henchmen for a seance.
[haunting chanting]
[Sarah] They started
by casting a circle.
A circle has no
beginning or end.
That's creating a protective
space to do whatever it is
you intend to do
with your ritual.
Irenia carved Lindsey's name
in one candle and "baby"
on the other candle.
Now, if you're using candles in
your ritual, the intention can
be carved into the candle to be
very direct with what you are
sending your energy towards.
The dark forces warn Irenia.
Their window is closing,
and Lindsey and her baby must
be gone before these candles
burn out.
I believe that added in this
element of time, this speed,
where how can you really think
about anything if it needs to
happen so fast?
With the flames lit and
the clock ticking, Irenia turns
up the heat.
[evocative whispering]
[Sarah] They were calling
in demons to assist them.
[whispering continues]
[Courtney]
She wanted to open the gates
of hell and receive messages
and protection from these,
I believe, seven sub-demons.
[whispering becomes
growling chants]
[Courtney]
Then she very dramatically
presents Oscar with the m*rder
weapon, which is a knife that
needs to be used to stab
Lindsey and her unborn baby.
The men set out into the night,
headed over to where Lindsey
was staying that night.
It was dark.
Lindsey's sound asleep.
There had been no inkling that
there was gonna be trouble.
Nobody had any idea that any of
this was gonna happen.
Oscar borrows his roommate,
Misty's car, which runs quieter
than his old Mustang.
But first, he and David make
a stop at a familiar location.
David and Oscar drove
to Walmart in Olney,
and they bought leather gloves
and ski masks.
They then headed to Jackie's
house because they had been
following Lindsey's movements
enough that they knew
she would be staying at Jackie's
house instead of her own.
[Kelly] They'd already ran
surveillance on that.
So they knew what they were
going to try to go in and get
through an unlocked door.
[Courtney]
They initially entered the home
to sort of case it out and get
a sense of who exactly was
there and where they were
in the home.
But the second they entered --
-[dog barking]
A dog started barking.
[Sarah] It's dark.
They can't see exactly
what's going on.
Then all of a sudden,
they look down the hall,
and there's a woman.
She had a larger midsection.
Lindsey's eight months pregnant
at the time.
They attack her and stab
her three times.
A man rushes in,
and they stab him, too.
They stabbed him right in
the chest, right in the heart.
And that's when another man
runs up from the basement
with a shotgun.
[Kelly] He points the shotgun up
in the air, and he clubs Oscar
in the face with it.
And then David grabs the barrel
of the shotgun to help Oscar,
and the trigger's pulled.
David is shot in his abdomen.
And then the man picked
up the knife,
and he just swung the knife at
Oscar Eck,
and he stabbed him in the leg.
And Oscar runs out the door.
The dispatch called and said
that they had evidently had
a man shot and another man
stabbed in Claremont.
I'm less than a minute away.
So I just went straight to it.
-[sirens wailing]
-[indistinct radio chatter]
As I got to the house,
they were screaming.
Somebody got shot, somebody got
stabbed, there's
blood everywhere.
That's when Deputy Sheriff
Blythe sees someone he knows,
Lindsey's boyfriend,
and Jackie, alive but in shock.
Jackie was afraid
that I was gonna arrest him
for sh**ting David.
And I said, "I'm not arresting
you. You know, we got to get
to the bottom of this."
I went in the door and noticed
a guy laying on the floor
on his back.
And he's trying to push himself
backwards towards the door.
At that point, nobody had
a clue who the guy on the floor
was that had been shot.
Even when he told he told us
his name, "David."
Nobody had ever heard of him.
And then they took him away
in the ambulance.
Then I saw what appeared to be
a young man that had
been stabbed.
There was also a woman.
She had been stabbed, too.
But it wasn't Lindsey.
Lindsey didn't get stabbed.
Instead, Lindsey is
unharmed and outside.
[Robert] Lindsey was just
in a panic.
She was just shaking
and crying, and she just
couldn't believe what was
going on.
Deputy Sheriff Blythe learns
that the stabbing victims are
Jackie's father's live-in
girlfriend, Jacqueline Bennett,
and her 20-year-old son, Josh.
I am Josh Bennett's aunt.
Josh grew up in Illinois.
He went directly from
high school into the army.
and did his basic training
and then was in Louisiana where
he was working in a kitchen.
He liked to cook.
Josh's dad, Jerry,
was everything to him.
In July, Jerry had a heart
attack and had passed.
So Josh came home to Illinois
from Louisiana to attend
his dad's funeral.
Jacqueline, Josh's mom,
kept calling Josh and asking
him to come visit with
her before he went back
to Louisiana.
Josh, when he was younger,
was close to his mom,
so he said he would go,
and he went there.
And that night, he was in
the wrong place
at the wrong time.
I got a call early in
the morning from Jake,
Josh's older brother,
telling me that his mom had
been stabbed.
She was in the hospital.
She went through a couple of
surgeries to repair her damage
that was done to her.
She made it through
the surgeries okay.
Jacqueline eventually recovers
completely from the attack,
but her beloved son,
Josh, isn't so lucky.
Josh died on the scene.
Josh didn't deserve that...
at all.
Josh was a good kid.
He had a lot of good friends.
His dad, Jerry, would have been
very proud of Josh.
When I first heard what
happened, I couldn't make sense
of things.
Why were they breaking in?
[indistinct radio chatter]
Deputy Sheriff Blythe tries
to piece together the chaos
and confusion of the scene.
It was, "Why is this
happening here?"
Because we didn't know
these guys.
I did see a knife laid
on the floor.
I asked, "Where's the g*n?"
Jackie told me,
"It's over there."
And he said,
"But there's somebody else.
There's another guy."
And Jackie said,
"I stabbed him."
And I said,
"Where is he?"
And he said,
"Well, he went out
the front door."
I looked all
around the exterior.
We couldn't find anything there.
I was pretty certain he was
gonna have to seek medical
attention somewhere.
I had my dispatcher call all
the hospitals around and tell
them, "Be on the lookout for
a white male that has been
stabbed in the leg."
But what police don't know is
that Oscar's first stop
isn't the hospital.
Rather than going to have
his wounds treated, Oscar went
straight to Irenia's house to
tell her that the plan had gone
very sideways.
She is absolutely furious that
they botched the plan so badly
and that Lindsey has not
been k*lled.
Irenia and Oscar head
to Misty's to return
the getaway car Oscar borrowed
from her for the evening.
[Misty] They came back
to my house.
I had no clue what was going on.
They went to the bathroom,
grabbed some band A*DS,
went out into the garage.
I just sat on the couch.
Oscar and Irenia drive off in
Oscar's Mustang, leaving Misty
with a very bad feeling.
I was scared.
I was nervous.
And I was wondering what I had
gotten myself into.
[indistinct radio chatter]
[Kelly] The captain on the
sheriff's department had called
me and he said, "Go to
the hospital and talk to the guy
that's been shot."
I said, "I sure will."
I walked into the hospital
emergency room and I saw him.
[machines beeping and whirring]
He had a severe injury.
I pulled his oxygen mask off
and asked him what happened.
And David looked at me and
he said, "She put a hex on us."
I was in shock from him saying
"hex," because I'd never had
that happen before.
After that, I did believe that
people were targeted instead
of just a robbery.
Obviously, it was
a targeted attack.
He then made remarks
that Oscar Eck was with him
in the early
morning hours at the scene
before they got shot
and stabbed at that house.
Oscar Eck is wounded,
armed, and at large.
We put out a BOLO of
"Be on the lookout for anyone
with an injury from
a stab wound."
And Lawrence County,
Illinois hospital made the call
to the sheriff's department
that an individual had been
stabbed and was treated.
Once the state trooper starts
asking questions,
Oscar realizes he has no way
out and tells them everything
about the m*rder plot.
After police spoke to David
and Oscar in the hospital,
they traveled to Oscar's
residence to provide and see
if they could find any
other evidence.
We found witchcraft material,
books, and candles.
I was amazed.
From David Linder,
early in the morning --
"She put a hex on us," too.
Now we have witchcraft books
in the house.
And we start tying
the case together.
Then they encountered Misty,
who is Oscar's roommate
at the time.
I was taken in
to the police station.
And my parents told me,
I need to tell them the truth.
I need to tell them what
happened when I was around.
[Kelly]
She said that Lindsey had put
a hex on 'em, and the only way
to break that hex would be to
m*rder her or k*ll her.
But Lindsey had no knowledge
about witchcraft, nor education
about witchcraft,
and she denied knowing anything
about witchcraft.
It came from Irenia.
She's the boss.
Irenia was jealous
of Lindsey because Lindsey was
the girlfriend to Jackie.
That kind of straightened
things out a little bit.
Police bring Irenia
to the station,
where Detective Henby finally
comes face to face
with the wickedest witch
in all of Illinois.
[Kelly] She was not cooperative
in the first interview or two.
I think she thought she had
manipulated the other officers
and avoided making
any admissions.
And when I came in,
I wasn't nice.
You know, I was to the point.
I said, "Did you want to k*ll
the young lady that was
pregnant?"
And she said,
"Yes, I did."
Misty, along with Irenia,
Oscar, and Jenny, are all
charged in connection
with Josh's m*rder.
I was dumbfounded.
I did not understand it at all.
My brain just would not process.
My charge was conspiracy of
first degree m*rder,
and my bond was set
at $3 million.
[Courtney] Even though Misty had
completely exited before Oscar
and David entered the picture,
she was treated very harshly
based on the accountability
theory, meaning she knew about
the crime before it was
committed, had opportunity
to stop it or do something
about it, and didn't.
Instead of just being a player,
she should have just stayed
away from it.
Misty should have made
better choices.
I thought Irenia was full of it.
Irenia did not seem like she was
that smart of a person,
but I believe that Irenia's
playing dumb to continue
with the manipulation.
Because if you look at it now,
she couldn't have been that
dumb to get people to do what
she got them to do.
She was playing games
that she was far superior at
than us stupid kids.
David was in a care unit in
Missouri, and he passed away
from the g*nsh*t wound to
his stomach from infection.
But there was a lot of physical
evidence recovered.
And the cooperation of
the suspects also helped create
more evidence.
I was quite confident there
would've been convictions.
Over the next year,
Misty and Oscar plead guilty
to their charges
and avoid trial.

in the Illinois Department
of Corrections.
Irenia and Jenny take
their chances at trial.
It did not go well for them.
Jenny Wolfe was found guilty of
m*rder and sentenced to
Irenia Cotner was found guilty
of m*rder and sentenced
to 50 years for the m*rder and
seven years for conspiracy to be
served consecutively.
But sentencing Irenia was just
completely checked out,
and on her way out,
she essentially told the judge
to kiss her a*s.
[Patti] The judge told her,
with her age, she would be
in prison the rest of her life.
That was the most
important thing.
She took Josh's life.
She should not have a life,
and she won't.
In the end, the true power
Irenia wielded over her coven
was never magic.
it was manipulation.
Irenia hid behind the power
of witchcraft, something that is
meant to bring good and balance
into the world, and used it in
such a destructive,
horrible way.
[Misty] That poor guy
didn't deserve to die.
David, that came from
St. Louis, he didn't deserve to
die because of her manipulation.

Josh was a very caring person,
a lovable person.
I really could have seen him
with a wife and kids.
He would have succeeded in life.
But he never will.
Irenia took that away.
Lindsey stayed in town,
even after everything
that happened.
She did have her baby,
who is an adult now.
I don't think she has ever
talked about what happened.
She probably is still haunted
by everything that happened.
Even though it was almost
would be very, very deep,
and she just doesn't want
to open that wound again.
[Misty] Irenia was just evil.
Instead of her being a witch,
it started with a "b."
All it takes is one bad egg.

being in danger.
When you are such
a good athlete
a lot of people don't like
to see you succeed.
Jealousy, envy,
it was tumultuous.
