and maybe some frenemies.

to feel connected.
We want it to feel inclusive.
We want it to feel like a team.
But when you see somebody else
who's younger and prettier,
that's gonna
bring you jealousy.
-There's gonna be cliques.
-[Fernanda] She saw her
as a threat.
She wanted to be her.
There is this woman
just staring at me.
I had to ask, "Do I know you?"
[woman speaking over phone]
And I'm like, oh my god.
Just an absolute nightmare.
She's evil.
No question whatsoever.
[suspenseful rock music]
[sprinkler hissing]
[phone rings]
[Ruby] A 911 call comes in.
The person that called 911
said that she did not know
who the victim was.
She did not know
whose car it was.
[sirens wailing]
[Ruby] When the officers
arrived, they see the victim's
body was on the ground.
Blood was flowing
from the driveway to the street,
and the victim's foot was still
inside the vehicle, even though
the victim's body
was on the ground.
And they found that the victim
died of a single g*nsh*t wound
to the head.
[Frank] I've never had
a homicide like this before.
This is a suburb, a place that
you want to raise your family.
I remember thinking
how disturbing that was.
[hazy EDM music playing]
Coral Springs is just
north of Miami.
It is a beautiful town
full of beautiful people.
[narrator]
In the Sunshine State,
everyone's job is beach.
So if you want to compete,
you know that every morning
is another chance
to rise and grind.
Fitness is a big thing
in South Florida.
[Jessie] There are about
footage area.
So fitness, beauty, wellbeing,
this is a huge priority for
the women of Coral Springs.
[EDM music continues]
called Training for Warriors.
So you come in here
for an hour, you work
your a*s off, you talk
to people, you have fun.
-[man yelling] I got your back!
-[group] I got your back!
[man yelling] You got my back!
-[group] You got my back!
[group cheers]
Whoo!
[Carolina]
When it was heavy lifting,
you will do that inside,
but cardio, you will run
around the parking lot.
[group] Eight. Nine. Ten.
[instructor] Beautiful, got
one more round of that to do.
Jumping Jacks!
[Carolina] It was an amazing
place, it was more than a gym.
We found friendship,
we found a group,
we found familia.
[Rick] We want people
to be a part of something bigger
than themselves.
In 2019, it was
our best year ever.
We had 300 members, and every
class was full to capacity.
[crowd] Eight. Nine. Ten.
[Nick] We had eight classes
running a day.
The first class
would start at five.
Then we would have
Like, each class
had kind of a distinct...
personality.
[Rick] The 9 AM group
was, like, the most fun.
There was great energy always.
[Nick] 9 o'clock, it was a lot
of people that either started
work late in the day
or house moms.
[Jessie] The 9 AM group
reigns supreme.
They're fun-loving.
They're the party group.
They're the ones that you just
wonder how you can be
like that girl.
And this is the group
that everyone aspires
to be like.
[narrator] For these 9-AM-ers,
it's all about the glamour shot
on the Insta.
["Eyes on Me" by

They start their workout by
going through the Instagram
account of the gym, saying,
oh, this is a great picture
of you, laughing
and talking about
what they did that weekend.
[Carolina] They came
to have a good time, socialize,
say hello, laugh.
In my opinion, the 9 AM
class was the best.
[narrator] Every morning
at the crack of dawn, another
group rolls into the gym at 5 AM
while the 9-AM-ers are still
getting their beauty sleep.
[rock music playing]
You can call it
a special breed.
[laughs]
The trash talkers,
they were a rough crowd.
It was
like, expletive,
expletive, expletive,
get that [bleep] up.
The 5-AM-ers are proud
to be harder, to be a little
tougher, to be a little louder,
to maybe lift a little heavier.
They don't have to be perfect,
they're gonna be strong.
I don't know if waking up
at 5 o'clock in the morning
made you, like,
a little rude or angry.
[narrator] Of course,
some 5-AM-ers come early,
so they don't have to deal
with 9 AM snaps and socializing.
Who needs the distraction
or the comparison?
They didn't come to be social.
They didn't want to be nice.
There is a chance
that they didn't like 9 AM
because we were the ones close
to the coaches, but I didn't
honestly like them.
[narrator] The reigning
queen bee of the 9 AM class
is 21-year-old college
student, Daniela Tabares.
She is the "It Girl" of the gym.
Daniela was absolutely
gorgeous, and she definitely
garnered some looks
wherever she went.
She was very
competitive in nature.
[Fernanda] She was in
great shape.
I think in the best shape
that she has ever been in.
She went to the gym
Monday through Friday.
[camera shutter snapping]
[narrator] Whether fresh
from a sesh at the gym or
out on the town, Daniela's got
a glow that turns heads
and incites jealousy.
[funky music playing]
She and her mother migrated
here from Colombia and they
lived in the Coral Springs area.
She had just finished two years
at Broward County College.
Then she was going off
to FIU to pursue a degree
in criminal justice.
She has great,
meaningful friendships.
[singing "Scars to Your
Beautiful" by Alessia Cara]
-She has it all.
-[trainer] Daniela,
good work.
[crowd clapping and cheering]
I met Daniela at the gym.
Daniela and I were
I mean, she could have been my
daughter, and she used to
call me "BFF."
Daniela's nickname, PR,
meant for personal record.
♪ It's a glow up,
you can hashtag that ♪
♪ upgrade, new style,
glow up ♪
She was always doing her best
to break her previous personal
record, and she
took pride in that.
Daniela was also known
as the queen of the eye roll
at the gym.
She would definitely
roll her eyes.
She had that little
spice to her.
[Carolina] She didn't
need to say much.
She would just give you
the attitude, like, [sighs]
and she would do something
like you knew she was
giving you sassiness.
[Jessie] Now, if you're a part
of the 9 AM group
and she's your buddy, that is
just a facet of who Daniela is.
But if you're maybe not
in the in-group, that eye roll
can seem like an insult.
Gyms can bring a jealousy
mindset to somebody.
You see somebody else
who's younger and prettier,
that's gonna
bring you jealousy.
[narrator] In the summer
of 2019, the growing tensions
between these two very different
groups descends to a new low
of cattiness.
♪she's so iconic,
she's so iconic♪
[Jessie] The 9-AM-ers loved
competing, and they loved being
the best, and they
weren't afraid to step
on a few toes if they had to.
One day the 9 AM
was like, "We should
make a T-shirt,"
and so, yeah,
one day I just walked in,
and everybody's wearing
their "9 AM Best AM" T-shirts.
And I was like,
"This is great. I love this.
I love the connection
that everybody has."
But the 5-AM-ers aren't
over the whole "9 AM
is the best class" thing.
They're the ones getting their
butts up at five in the morning
and doing the hardest class.
So why shouldn't they get
a little appreciation?
Then word got around
that, like, oh, the 9 AM
crew has a T-shirt.
So we want our T-shirts.
So the 5 AM group
got together,
and the logo they came up with
was "Setting
the Bar for the Day."
It was the first class of
the day, and they're saying,
"We're the example
for the rest of you."
[narrator] It's petty,
it's pointless,
and it's about
to become a problem.
[suspenseful strings]
[Carolina] The 5 AM class
felt that they were
competing with the 9 AM class.
Oh, they think the 9 AM
feel that they are the best?
OK, no, we are the best.
[Jessie] And despite
the coaches' best efforts
to make the gym
a positive place,
this feud is about
to spiral completely
out of control.
At TFW, we want
people to feel connected.
We want it to feel inclusive.
We want it to feel like a team.
But there became a division.
At this point, the 5 AM
class really wants to
differentiate themselves.
They want to show that
the 5 AM class
is actually
the best class.
And one of the 5-AM-ers
is a 51-year-old woman named
Yvonne Serrano.
Yvonne joined
the gym in May of 2019.
[woman] One, two, three! Hit it!
♪Ooh, yeah♪
[Nick] When Yvonne joined
the gym, it was like
she was hooked.
She jumped right in and made
a lot of connections.
[Rick] She was enthusiastic,
throwing high-fives.
Her energy was infectious.
[Nick] She'd be right there,
be like, "Hey, come on,
you can do this, let's go."
She was a good part and
a good mix in that 5 AM class.
[narrator] These high-octane,
early morning workouts turn out
to be a great outlet
for this recent empty nester.
Yvonne's children
were basically grown,
her husband was
a retiree from the military,
he was out traveling
a lot, she was lonely.
The gym did
become her life at some point.
Yvonne has really found a great
place with the 5 AM group,
but she can't help
but notice that the 9 AM group
is the group
everyone wants to be like.
It's not just
that she sees them at the gym.
She's also following
them on social media.
Nothing could make it
more obvious that you're not
in the in crowd than searching
the socials after
a long weekend, and seeing
everyone else having
a great time without you.
I think there was a part of
Yvonne that yearned to be part
of the in crowd,
the fun crowd.
She needed those vibes,
that energy in her life
at this time.
[narrator] And unlike most
of her 5 AM counterparts,
Yvonne has nothing but time.
No kids to wrangle, no job
waiting after her workout.
So with her free time,
she concocts a plan to get
herself into
the 9 AM social circle.
Yvonne and one
of her other 5 AM
friends started lingering
in the parking lot after
their workout
was over.
So the 6 AM group would come,
and go, 7, 8, 9,
some of the 9 AM group
even noticed
that they were still
in the parking lot when
they got out of their class.
I knew they were
from 5 AM, and it will be 9, 10.
Will still be outside
at 10:30, and they will still
be talking out there.
We used to feel
like it's kind of odd.
I'm sure at one point we were
questioning, like, these two
women don't
have anything to do.
[narrator] Determined to prove
herself among this gym elite,
Yvonne signs up
for a 9 AM class.
She's ready to show
everyone she belongs with
the best of them.
Yvonne went to
the 9 AM class
to scout and see
what was going on
in the other classes,
trying to see if maybe
she could be part
of a already
committed group.
[Nick] And when she
walked in, everybody else
is talking
amongst themselves.
I don't want to say a clique,
but they didn't know her.
[Rick] And so
in the 9 AM group,
everybody's having fun,
everybody's joking,
and it's a fun atmosphere,
except for Yvonne being
way over the top.
She was trying
to come in and show off
what she was all about.
Like, "I'm gonna
show you what's up.
I'm the best, and look
how much better I am than you."
[music awkwardly ceases]
It's just, like,
over-the-top, awkward,
making everybody uncomfortable,
bringing down
the vibe of the group.
I think Yvonne's
attitude in that 9 AM group
that day just got
underneath Daniela's skin.
[narrator] Yvonne feels
the chill and gets the message
loud and clear.
The 9AMers want
nothing to do with her.
[Jessie] I think
Yvonne's feelings were hurt.
After she was rejected
from the 9 AM group,
maybe this just
isn't the place for her.
[Rick] So after...
joining our community in May of
like, every single day,
Yvonne just very abruptly
froze her membership.
She did not give a reason.
You know, I didn't
think anything of it.
I was like, oh, all right,
she's got something going on.
You know, it is what it is.
[narrator] Sensing tension
in the rings, the coaches
decide it's time
to blow off some steam.
[Rick] This was very close
to the time there was this
negative group of people
that were causing a problem,
and I wanted
to soften that a little bit,
uplift people,
whoever wants to come,
let's have a good time.
[Carolina] Something
that was meant to be a fun night
with friends
brought out a nightmare.
I don't think anybody
could have ever predicted
what was about
to happen that night.
[suspenseful music increases]
This weekend we planned
to go see a movie at
Silver Spot Cinemas in
Coconut Creek.
After the movie,
handful of us decided to walk
across the street, hang out.
[Rick] So it was a pretty
large group that showed up.
I was excited to see everyone.
Daniela was super excited
about going out that night.
[Carolina] Everybody was there.
We were just
laughing with everybody.
We were having fun.
Everybody is welcome.
Like, you know, we all
just want to have a good time.
[intense pop music playing]
[Rick] And then
I noticed Yvonne.
I was like, you know, cool.
I'm so glad that she came.
You know, her account
is frozen right now,
but she's still part
of the familia.
[Jessie] I think that
this night meant a lot
to Yvonne.
This is a chance
to really let her hair down
and show them
who she was.
So she picked out
the perfect outfit.
She wore a lace tank top.
She got her best
Louis Vuitton purse.
And, hey, it would
be nice to be featured
on the gym Instagram.
[narrator]
But 9 AM versus 5 AM,
it's not just a gym thing.
Daniela and I are just trying
to find our places, not knowing
where we're going, and
there is this woman, Yvonne,
just staring at me,
and I had to ask.
I said, "Do I know you?"
At that point, she goes,
"Yeah, I go to the gym."
And I was like, "Oh, wow."
Like, I couldn't
recall at that moment.
And she said,
"But, I do know you.
"I know what time
you work out.
"I know what time you run.
"I have seen you
running outside many times.
I know you go to 9 AM."
And at that point, I was like,
"Wow, I guess you do know me."
I was totally oblivious
about who she was.
Daniela was right there
with me and we looked
at each other quickly like,
"What the hell is this?"
And then we walked
away from her, she said,
"That's the lady
from the --
that is always in
the 5 AM class."
I didn't know
who she was honestly.
[narrator] The slight from
the younger woman stings,
but instead of taking a hint,
Yvonne doubles down
on desperation and liquor.
[Nick] Yvonne seemed like
she was trying to fit in
with the people
that were there that night.
She was trying
to hang out with everybody.
We were outside,
and she came to sit down,
started raining a little bit.
Carolina's a little prima-donna.
If her hair gets wet,
the night's ruined, OK?
So she starts running inside,
everybody follows her, OK?
Yvonne's still
outside, she's like, OK,
well, everyone's going inside
now, so I'm gonna go inside.
She would follow them in,
people would come out.
It was just a constant back
and forth where it looked like
people were
running away from her.
Daniela comes to me
at one point and says,
"Hey, there is that Yvonne
asking me to sit outside
with her."
She says, like, "I don't
know how to tell her that
we don't want to sit out there."
So I, like,
"You want me to tell her?"
And she goes, "Yeah."
So I went outside,
and sure thing, she was sitting
on a table by herself.
And she goes, "I told you,
I got a table for us, and you
[bleep] leave me there alone,
and you never came back."
Something along those lines.
And I said, "I told you,
it's going to rain,
and we didn't want
to sit out there with you."
And I walked away.
[Nick] You could tell Yvonne
was starting to get irritated.
I basically stopped her,
talked to her a little bit.
"Don't worry about it.
It's raining, blah,
blah, blah," here and there.
[narrator]
But the 9 AM diss hits hard.
So Yvonne decides it's time
to show everyone
she's still got it.
Yvonne is talking to every
single person that's coming in.
She turns to this rowdy
bunch of regulars, young men.
They're in their 20s,
and she starts joking
with them.
She's buying drinks.
[Carolina] I see Yvonne
like grabbing this young guy,
and they are talking.
I can tell
that Daniela is uncomfortable.
[Jessie] One of these young guys
starts hitting on Daniela
with full force.
[music awkwardly halts]
[Jessie] Daniela is
not into it.
This is not her scene.
She does not want
to be picked up.
Daniela's friends are noticing
that this guy is very focused
on Daniela.
And it's not just making
Daniela uncomfortable,
it's starting to make
her friends uncomfortable
and feel a bit
protective towards her.
[Carolina]
Daniela said, "I'm not
going anywhere with anybody."
So I'm looking at Daniela,
and I ask, "Are you OK?"
And she just rolled her eyes
without saying nothing,
and she turned her back
and started facing that way.
Like she already
gave me the answer.
Like, I'm not approving this.
I don't want to be here.
That was Daniela.
She could talk to you just
rolling her eyes, and you knew
she was disappointed.
[narrator] For Yvonne,
there's only one solution
to a party
that's rapidly going south,
more drinks.
You could tell that she was
trying to keep the party going
because she kept ordering
drinks and shots, and just
handing them off to everybody.
[Carolina] I felt
a little uneasy
leaving the bar,
leaving Daniela that night
because she
was so innocent.
I was concerned about people
around her and all that.
When I was leaving,
Daniela was sitting there still
in one of the bar stools.
And I looked at her.
She gave me
the look like, "I'm OK."
I gave her the look, OK.
And I walked away, and I left.
It's really weird,
the way that night worked out.
So I left around midnight.
I kind of gave it like a,
"Hey, see you later, guys."
[suspenseful music]
The next morning, I get
a text saying, "We don't know
where Daniela is."
And I'm like, oh my god,
what the hell is going on?
I remember, like,
I'm freaking out,
Just an absolute nightmare.
[Fernanda] I woke up to a call
from Daniela's mom, Isa.
I knew something was wrong.
[phone buzzing]
She had asked me if Daniela had
just accidentally slept over
my house and we just
forgot to tell her.
I told her no.
The last time I had heard
from her was the night before
with her gym friends.
I became super scared
when I found out that
Daniela had not gotten home.
[speaking Spanish]
[narrator] Desperate to locate
her daughter, Daniela's mother
next calls Carolina.
When she said that Daniela
didn't make it home, I knew it
was something just
really bad had happened.
And immediately the only thing
I could think of was that kid
that Yvonne was talking to
that night because it was
the only person that was an
outsider and he did something.
He followed Daniela,
he took her, he kidnapped her.
I started making phone calls
to every person that I could.
Nobody knew anything.
[narrator] Meanwhile, Fernanda
suddenly remembers that she can
track Daniela's location
through her phone.
Daniela and I shared locations
just kind of to keep an eye
on each other.
Daniela's location
had pinged in Coral Springs.
About 15 minutes away,
the ride seemed
like an eternity.
[engine revving]
As I pulled up to the pinged
location, ping location, it was
a parking lot close to
the Training for Warriors gym.
My immediate thought
was she was OK.
[narrator] But the parking lot
is completely empty, and there
is no sign of Daniela.
So I got out the car,
and I started looking around
the bushes, I started looking
around the trees
that were in the area,
thinking, OK,
maybe she dropped her phone.
But I didn't find anything
with Daniela or anything of any
of her belongings.
I refreshed the app, and
it re-pinged at a different
location not too far away.
I felt better.
It meant
that her phone was moving.
So I believe that she
was moving with her phone.
So, Fernanda now is driving
around and looking for Daniela,
and she finds an address that
Fernanda is not familiar with.
[narrator] By now,
a local resident has called
the Coral Springs
[sprinkler hissing]
[Frank] The 911 caller said
that she woke up this morning,
and walked out and saw the body
of an unidentified female lying
on the driveway.
One of her legs
was still inside the vehicle.
There were no other
injuries other than a single
g*nsh*t wound.
There was a lot of blood
surrounding her body.
There was a lot of blood
on her clothing and actually
streaming down the driveway.
And I observed that she had
been there for quite some time.
We did run the license plate
on that vehicle and saw that it
was registered
to a Daniela Tabares Maya.
[Fernanda] When I pulled up
to the neighborhood, I had seen
that there was a lot of cops,
and the streets were blocked
off by the police tape.
I had seen a car
in the driveway, but I was OK
because her car
was a black Versa.
I had gotten to talk to one
of the police officers there.
I told him that
I was looking for my friend,
that I had her location,
and that the location had taken
me to that neighborhood.
Can you help me?
The officer...
gave me a really strange energy
and he told me, "OK, let's go
to my car and speak
a little bit more."
We got into the car
and he locked the doors
and immediately started
blasting cold air, which
I found extremely strange.
The detective then,
he took a second, and...
[sniffles]
he was the one
to break the news to me
that they were investigating
the death of Daniela.
[somber piano playing]
[Fernanda] And when I turned
to look at the driveway,
it really hit me
that it was Daniela.
Because in that moment,
I had remembered that she had
just gotten a brand new car.
And that was her car.
I had no idea
whose house this was.
I had no idea why Daniela's
car was in the driveway.
I didn't know
what was going on.
I did a cursory check
of the vehicle and observed
that there was no g*n
anywhere near the vehicle.
So my first thought was
that we had a homicide.
It looked to us like
she was shot in the car and then
somebody opened the door
and then someone had attempted
to pull the victim's body
out of the vehicle.
[camera snapping]
[Nick]
Within the gym, word spread.
Everybody knew kind of
what was going on.
[Carolina] I remember
when I got the phone call,
and he said,
that body was Daniela.
My head was spinning.
I don't know
what happened after that.
[Rick] Who did this
to her?
Was she attacked?
Like, you know,
what happened?
[Nick] Then I got
a call from a friend.
And then that's when
the [bleep] show started.
He's freaking out.
And I tell him, like,
"Listen, send me your pin,
wherever you're at."
I finally get there,
and the street was blocked off.
The body bag on the driveway,
I knew what house that was.
[camera snapping]
I was at Yvonne's house.
[suspenseful chord strike]
Looking down the street,
there were probably
at least five cop cars,
crime scene unit.
I was just shocked.
Right then, I got a pit in
my stomach because I knew
Dani gave Yvonne a ride home.
I kind of figured
what happened.
You put two and two together.
You watch enough crime dramas.
My knees gave out.
I just lost it.
The police started
asking Yvonne some questions.
So Yvonne told the officer that
she went out the night before.
She was hanging out
with a group
from Training for Warriors gym.
She had a few drinks that night,
she blacked out,
and she didn't remember how
she got home.
She just woke up in her bed,
was about to go to the gym,
and that, you know,
she saw a dead body
in her driveway.
When asked if she knew
who the person was, she said
that she did
not know who it was.
We observed
that there was a ring camera.
So naturally, we wanted to find
out if any of the footage
on that camera could
help us to solve this m*rder.
Yvonne stated that
she deleted all the footage.
What do you mean
you deleted it?
You have a dead body in
your driveway
and you're deleting
your footage?
At that point,
we decided it was time to
escort Yvonne back to the
Coral Springs Police Department.
So when Yvonne first
gets to the police station,
she stuck
with her initial story.
She woke up in her bed.
She was on her way to the gym.
She didn't know
who Daniela was.
She looked right
to my eyes the entire time.
Nothing seemed to faze Yvonne.
But it wasn't long before
her story drastically changed.
During the interrogation,
there were detectives over
at World of Beer
that were continuously sending
video and pictures.
On the video, I could see
that Yvonne and Daniela were
communicating with each other.
And then
the officers confronted Yvonne
with the videos of her and
Daniela at the World of Beer.
All of a sudden,
she now knows who Daniela is.
[narrator] While Yvonne's
story keeps changing,
the physical evidence
doesn't lie.
[Frank] As Detective Young
and I continued to interrogate
Yvonne, a SIG 365 was located
in a purse in Yvonne's bedroom.
[Ruby] The g*n had
blood spatter on it.
It was found in a rocking
chair next to her bed
underneath a pillow.
They searched the victim's car
and they found a shell casing
to a 365.
They discovered that the white
tank top that she had had
was hanging in her laundry
room, and it was freshly washed.
It was damp, and it had
the victim's blood on it.
[narrator]
Yet when pressed to explain
what really happened
that night and why,
Yvonne sticks to her story.
-I will repeat myself,
I don't remember.
-We don't believe that.
I don't remember
getting out of World of Beers.
I don't remember
getting in her car.
I don't remember
getting into the house.
She had the presence of mind
to delete her ring footage,
to wash her tank top,
to hide the g*n.
I never did believe her, that
she didn't remember anything.
We were not sure if maybe
this was just a tragic accident.
So at that point
in time, our goal was motive.
Why?
Why did you sh**t Daniela?
What happened in that car?
[narrator] Investigators speak
with witnesses and review
surveillance
footage from the bar.
A story of a bruised
ego soon emerges.
At some point,
a gentleman comes
over to Daniela.
He likes her, and
he wants to get her number,
but Daniela
kind of brushes him off.
But Yvonne was
very handsy with him.
Yvonne was trying to convince
him to go home with her.
He wanted no part of that.
There was a huge age
difference between the gentleman
at the bar from Yvonne,
about 25 years.
So his response
to Yvonne's offer was that
"You could be my mom."
[Jessie] When she was
passed over by this young man
for Daniela, Yvonne
was seething with jealousy.
The drinking unleashed
a monstrous rage in her.
[narrator] Despite Yvonne's
irritating behavior throughout
the night, Daniela
is concerned about her.
Seeing she is drunk and alone,
Daniela wants to make sure
she gets home safely
and offers her a ride.
This act of kindness
turns out to be a grave mistake.
There was a lot of video
footage that was recovered
from the World of Beer.
You can see that Daniela is
giving everyone a hug goodbye.
Yvonne points a g*n
motion and pulls the trigger
at the same time as Daniela
is walking towards her,
and then they leave the bar.
I think it's foreshadowing
because Yvonne was carrying
that night a 365.
It was in her purse.
[narrator] Around 2 AM
that morning, a nearby
security camera captures
Daniela's vehicle
entering

When Daniela pulls
into the driveway, she has
no idea of the danger she's in.
[car door opens]
Yvonne Serrano would
have had to have gotten
out of the passenger side of
the vehicle, then gone directly
behind her and opened that door
to the rear passenger seat.
[suspenseful music increases]
[g*nsh*t blasts]
[Ruby]
And after firing that shot,
she tried to clean up the scene,
and move the victim
out of the vehicle because
she did have something to drink,
she wasn't able to do it.
It wasn't until
later she called 911.
After the interview,
Yvonne was charged
with second degree m*rder.
And then it was like, oh my
god, Yvonne's been arrested.
How could this have happened?
[Carolina]
What do you mean she did it?
Well, this had to be
an explanation why she did it.
I think that Yvonne
was very insecure.
I think that she
saw Daniela as a threat.
Daniela was
prettier and younger,
stronger.
I believe that she
wanted to be what Daniela was.
You never think that someone
that evil can be right there
next to you
and with your group.
She's evil,
no question whatsoever.
On June 18, 2024,
Yvonne was convicted
of second degree m*rder
and tampering
with physical evidence,
and sentenced to
life in prison.
[somber music]

Although Daniela's mother
takes a small measure of comfort
that Yvonne will never get out
of prison, Isa Tabares mourns
the loss of her only child
and a life that could have been.
[speaking Spanish]
Daniela gave love
to every person she met.
She touched everybody's
life in different ways.
Even if we can't
see her, we can feel her.
I feel her presence everywhere.
I painted a wall-sized
mural of her
and dedicated
the PR bell to her.
She was the biggest part
of the community
when she was alive,
and she's gonna continue to be
the biggest part of
our community.

having someone to help us
escape was a big thing.
You're not supposed to break
these girl code rules.
If you got on her bad side
she made sure that you knew it.
Don't be fooled by their age.
They knew exactly what
they were doing.
