- The winner of "RuPaul's
Drag Race Down Under"
will receive a year's
supply of cosmetics
from Anastasia Beverly Hills
and a cash prize of $50,000.
Tonight with Michelle
Visage, Rhys Nicholson,
and our extra-special
guest judge,
singer-songwriter Deva Mahal.
- [singing] RuPaul's Drag Race
May the best drag queen
win, best drag queen win.
[warm orchestral music]
- [gasps] How delightfully camp.
- I might be a sheep-f*ck
from New Zealand,
but at least I didn't have
to tie my kangaroo down.
Woo!
[screaming]
- None of you b*tches are ready!
- Lights, camera, action.
[brassy music]
- Everybody wants
to come to Hollywould.
Hi, I'm Hollywould
Star. I'm 28 years old,
and I'm from Sydney, Australia.
The Sydney drag scene...
It's good because I'm in it.
[laughs]
First girl here gets the
most screen time, honey.
[chuckles]
I've only been doing drag for
a year and a few months now,
but I know what I can do.
I know what I can bring.
You just have to wait and see.
[laughs]
[techno music]
- Oh. Well, don't
we love a g*y affair?
My name is Ashley
Madison. I am 25 years old,
and I'm from
Melbourne, Victoria.
My reputation on the
Melbourne drag scene...
I think that I've ruffled
feathers from time to time.
- [laughs]
- But I'm not someone
that's going to walk in
and be careful about my words.
Hi, doll.
- Hi.
- How are you?
- Oh, my God. So...
- Mwah, mwah.
- Good to see you.
- You too.
If I have to fight
tooth and nail, I will.
- I'm Hollywould Star.
- Ashley. Ashley Madison.
How do you spell Hollywould?
- H-O-L-L-Y-W-O-U-L-D.
- U-L-D.
- S-T...
- You had to think about that.
- I did, because I was like... - You
were gonna spell "Star" for me?
Was that what you were gonna do?
- I was gonna spell "Star." I didn't
know if you could spell, honey.
- Hollywould has, um,
an interesting reputation
because, um, I've
heard that she's a b*tch.
[sighs]
I think that there's some
drag queens in Sydney
that do not want to see
her here because she's fresh
and she's new.
So I am keen to see if
she's gonna be a b*tch.
- Only time will tell.
[upbeat music]
- [gasps]
- Yes, b*tch.
- [speaking Spanish]
- Wow.
- Hello.
My name is Flor.
I'm 25 years old.
I'm representing New Zealand,
and I'm representing
Guatemala, my culture.
- Have your moment.
Give it to us.
- I just like to represent
the very strong Latina woman
that's always, always,
always on point.
- Yes, mamacita. [fly buzzing]
- Ah!
Ah, there's a fly!
What the f*ck?
[clears throat]
[laughter]
- Oh, my God.
- That f*cking fly.
- Hi!
- Oh, my God!
Mwah, mwah.
- You look so gorgeous...
- Beautiful.
- Bonita.
- Wow.
- Gracias.
- Yes. You got the red memo.
Yeah.
- Yes. Yes, we did.
We did. We did.
- Not me.
- [giggles] Ashley?
She's fine.
She's... she looks pretty.
Her outfit is falling down.
Like, girl, your pants
are falling, darling.
It looks like a nappy.
I'm like, "Um..."
- Oh, my God.
Why didn't anyone wake me up?
Oh. [giggles]
Hi. I'm Ivory Glaze.
I'm 26 years old, and
I am Sydney's premier
cross-dressing giraffe.
[yawns]
- [laughs]
- Ivory Glaze... if I could
pick, like, one word,
I think the word would
be, like, polished.
- Least this will end... this.
- I like cohesion.
I like head-to-toe cohesion.
Nice. And hello.
Oh, my God, I'm so glad to see you.
- How are you?
- Oh, uh, the boss is here.
- Oh, sh*t.
- Wow.
- The boss?
- Yes.
- Ashley is the pretty
much only person
that books me
consistently, so...
[laughter]
- That's nice.
- Are you gonna fire her after this?
- Yeah.
She's out... if she beats
me, she's f*cking gone.
- I've never actually even
met Ashley in person before.
- Um...
[awkward music]
[laughs] Uh... uh...
Go pull your pants up, girl.
- [laughs] Oh.
- I mean, I was
sweating ba*ls in there.
But at least my pants
weren't falling down.
[funky music]
Listen up... f*ck,
what's the line?
[laughter]
- My name is Amyl,
and I have already forgotten
the rest of what I was gonna tell...
[take beeps] My name is Amyl.
I am 26.
f*ck. No, I'm not. [take beeps]
My name is...
I don't know... me
forgetting my own name.
[take beeps] My name is Amyl.
I am a very youthful
and I am from Sydney, Australia.
Listen up, assholes.
Amyl's here.
- Did she say assholes?
- What?
- Yeah, she said assholes.
- Oh.
- Amyl... she gives
Black excellence.
Oh, my God.
- I'm so happy you're here.
- She's always in her
beautiful, like, twisty braids
or, like, something cool
that represents our culture.
And for that, you
know, I love it.
- What... Amyl, you love proper?
- But, like...
- [laughs]
I went...
Gonna do it with
the noise, though.
- Yeah.
- Oh.
- You think it's find to just...
- I don't know those things.
[upbeat music]
- I don't know about you
girls, but Ivanna Drink.
- [gasps]
- My name's Ivanna Drink.
I'm 26 years old, and I live
in Auckland, New Zealand.
- Do you... does anyone
know who she is?
No? - Anita? Wigl'it?
- Partner.
- Partner?
- Yeah.
- Oh.
- Nice, yeah.
- I'm very proud of my heritage.
I'm a mixture of the Fijian,
Indian, Māori, and European.
I'm excited to showcase my drag.
- Are you Anita's partner?
- We're married, yes.
- Hey!
It's time to wiggle it!
- Are you nervous
because you're, you know,
gonna be compared to Anita?
- I think we're so
different, so it'll be fine.
I'll make it to the
end, obviously.
- Oh, okay.
- Well, we shall see.
- We shall see.
- We shall see.
- What can I say? If Spanky
Jackson can win, so can Ivanna.
So you can't
underestimate anyone.
- Oh, yes.
- Ooh!
- The goddess is here.
- Ooh.
[all gasping]
- Look at her hair!
- She got hair!
- Hi, I'm !sis Avis Loren.
I'm 33, from Naarm... Melbourne.
- Hair.
- I'm gonna scream! Ah!
Oh, my.
- Gags.
Gags!
!sis is renowned across
Australia for her reputation.
She is an incredible performer.
I am intimidated.
- The boots are
made for walking,
and that's just what they'll do.
Hi, girls!
[all cheering]
- How are you?
- Oh, mwah.
- Gorgeous.
- Where are you from?
- I'm from Melbourne.
- Melbourne.
Ooh. - Naarm, Melbourne.
- You know each other very well.
- We do. We've worked
together many a time,
Ashley and I.
Ashley's reputation in
the Melbourne scene...
She used to be known
to be quite the b*tch.
She's known to vocalize
her opinion without hesitation.
- Yeah, I'm excited
to see you here.
- I'm excited to
see you here, b*tch.
- Yeah, drama.
I think that there's
some drama here
that you guys
don't want to tell us.
- All the drama.
- Yeah, yeah. [laughs]
- Competition brings out
the best and the worst in us.
So let's see what Ashley
has to bring to this competition.
- This is tense. Oh, my God.
[upbeat music]
- Oh, my God.
- Oh, sh*t.
Oh, who's that? Who's that?
Oh, my God!
- Rita b*tch?
No. Rita Menu!
- [laughs]
- Yes!
- Who? [giggles]
- Who's that?
- I don't know.
- Does anyone know her?
- Oh, wow.
- Hello. My name is Rita Menu.
I am 24 years old, and I'm
the dancing diva of Hamilton.
- How long have
you been doing drag?
- I have been doing drag
for about a year now...
all: Oh.
- With Trish.
She's brand new.
- I thought she was fierce.
With that mug and that
hair, oh, you're doing it right.
Like...
- Um, I've never
worked with her.
I don't want to. [laughs]
I'm trying to find
what she's serving,
but I just can't find it.
What is it?
[upbeat music]
- There better be a bar in
this m*therf*cking place,
because mama needs
a sauvignon blanc.
Okurr? Hey!
Ah, mwah.
My name is Bumpa Love, and
I'm from Melbourne, Australia.
Up is good for me,
because she's got lines.
Whoo!
Am I well known
in the drag scene?
I think that would be yes.
And if any of these b*tches
call me grandmother,
I'll k*ll them.
- She fell on that jewelry
rack and took everything.
- Yes.
- This is the gag is
seeing my old boss here.
And she knows !sis too.
We've done shows together.
I haven't seen
Bumpa in a long time.
- Here's my crack.
- Oh!
- Ooh.
- She has been such
a big part of my career.
- Yay!
- I missed you!
How are you?
- Hello, my beautiful.
I'm great, thank you.
- I'd like to think
she's a bit intimidated.
But she is a
fabulous drag queen.
She's also, from time to
time, f*cking delusional.
So I'm very curious about this.
- Yes.
- Why?
- Who's next?
[screamer march playing]
- [gasps]
[Whoopee cushion deflates]
- Smells like fart in here.
- What the f*ck?
- What the heck is this?
- What is this, honey?
- What is this?
[laughter]
[plodding tuba music]
- My name is Gabriella Labucci.
I'm 31 years old, and
I'm from Ballarat, Victoria.
- I have literally no words.
- Gabriella is...
She's a dickhead.
No, actually scratch that.
She's a flaccid dickhead.
I take my drag
incredibly seriously
but also not seriously at all.
Like, I'm here for a good
time and a long time, hopefully.
- How are you?
- Hello. What was
your name, darling?
- Hollywould Star.
- Oh. Okay.
- The taste level
is questionable.
- What is this, honey?
- What do you mean,
what is this? It's fashion.
I'm quite clearly the
fashion queen of the season.
- Did you make that?
- I love it.
- And the brief was,
make it as ugly as possible,
and I think she's done very well.
- Accomplished.
- I think she did.
- Looking forward
to seeing more.
[laughs]
- I may or may not have
accidentally just made
a cheeky little friendship
bracelet for everyone.
[all exclaiming]
- That's so cute.
- So cute.
- Because we are the only
ones who get to have these.
So it's cute.
- That's very cute.
Thank you very much.
- That's all right.
[doorknob squeaks]
- G'day, g'day, g'day.
How are you?
- Oh, my God. It's
f*cking RuPaul!
Oh, my God.
- Condragulations, you've made it to
"RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under."
[all cheering]
I've chosen each of you
because you are
overflowing with charisma.
But this competition
is about to reveal
who has the additional
uniqueness, nerve, and talent
to go all the way and
snatch that crown.
The last queen
standing will walk away
with the title of "Down
Under's" Next Drag Superstar,
a year's supply of cosmetics
from Anastasia Beverly Hills,
and a cash prize of $50,000.
[all cheering]
Oh, you're excited about that.
- Yeah! [laughs]
- Do you know how
many human hair wigs
I can buy with $50,000?
Just kidding.
I won't have to buy them.
People will give
them to me if I win.
[laughs]
- Now, who's ready to kick
some big padded asses?
#DragRaceDownUnder.
To start this season right,
we're gonna celebrate the
biggest and queerest party
of the year, Mardi Gras Pride.
[all cheering]
Now for your first
Maxi Challenge,
you'll entertaint us
with a traffic-stopping
Mardi Gras float performance.
Each of you will write your own
verse to a mashup of my songs
"Super Queen" and
"Sissy That Walk."
- Yeah! Yes.
- As a group, you're
in charge of coming up
with your own choreography.
- We are all performing
at once, all ten of us,
on the main stage.
It's gonna be crazy.
I don't know how we're
gonna f*cking do it.
- Now remember, this is
your introduction to the world.
So don't f*ck it up.
- This challenge is
definitely gonna be
a lot more difficult than
any of us anticipated.
We don't know what
each other are capable of,
and I'm worried.
- So racers, start your engines,
and may the best drag queen win.
[all cheering]
- I'm following you,
Bumpa. Let's go.
- [laughs]
- There you go.
- Thank you.
- You're welcome.
- Now, Flor, who is your
biggest competition, do you think?
- Mm.
- Oh, there's my
nail I lost earlier.
- I think Hollywould.
- Mm.
- Keeping those cards
close to her chest.
- Who do you think is
gonna be in the bottom,
just judging by the entrance?
- Oh, gosh. I think...
- Just like this...
- [laughs]
- Be honest.
- I think Rita, because
she's a little green.
She's only been
doing drag a year, so...
- I mean, Hollywould has been
doing drag for a year as well.
- Just a year?
- Like, one year.
- I think that means
she's got a lot to prove.
- Uh-huh.
- I'm so happy to have a
Black sister in the house.
It is so good.
- It's iconic, honestly.
And like you said
before, I was like,
"Well, they have two of
us. Like, how amazing is it?"
- Yeah.
[both grunting]
- Seeing Hollywould,
my heart is full.
I am so excited.
There aren't many
Black queens in Sydney.
And so you have two of us in
the same room at the same time
is like absolutely beyond.
- Any trade?
- Any trade?
I feel like once Flor
takes his face off,
I feel like Flor's
gonna be gorgeous.
- Whoa, whoa, whoa.
- Yeah.
- I don't know.
What do you reckon?
- No.
- No?
- Whoa.
[upbeat electronic music]
[upbeat music]
- So what are you thinking that
you're gonna write for your verse?
- This is the first
introduction to the judges.
- Yeah.
- So I'm like...
I want to be very
clear of who I am.
But at the same time,
because it's a Mardi Gras thing...
- Do you make it Pride based?
- Do you make it Pride based?
This is, I think, the
biggest first challenge
in "Down Under" history.
And this is the first chance
that we're presenting ourselves
to the judges.
What you need to do is
encompass everything
that you are in this
really short verse.
- What you got?
- So I wasn't sure if it
needs to be about us.
I'm taking a risk and I wanted
to make a verse, 'cause it's Pride,
to encourage people
to, like, take a chance
and live your truth and
be authentically you.
I'm so excited
about this challenge.
I really like writing lyrics.
I think this challenge is
something that I could potentially do
really well in.
- What's the lyrics?
- So it's like, "Taking up
space for the Asians in the race.
"Stand up high,
shine like a star,
just live your truth
and you'll go far."
- Um...
- I wrote it initially
just to lift someone up,
because this is kind of my
experience at the same time.
- You have to remember
that RuPaul said
that it's the first
time that the world
is going to get to know you.
- Exactly.
- One of the most important
things about this challenge
is to show your brand.
Your experiences can
come, but that's later, girl.
That's after.
What's your brand?
At least your f*cking name.
- How's yours going, Holly?
- So I said, "Welcome
to the land down under,
Hollywould coming
in like thunder.
"If you want to see a star,
then stop where you are,
because you just met
the ninth world wonder."
- That's good.
- Wow.
- Yeah.
- Yeah.
- Um, okay.
I really need to think now,
because I just want to make it
more branded and about myself.
- I would just... yes.
- Add something that makes it more me.
- At least your
f*cking name, girl.
- I'll put my name in.
f*ck, okay.
- What about you?
- I guess the idea of
how I wanted to go,
like, playing on the
name Rita Menu,
kind of the whole food aspect,
like serving and like spicy.
Like those sort of
words. I wanted to...
- Do you think that's presenting
to the judges who you are?
I don't know Rita. I don't
know what she can bring.
I am ready to see
what's on the menu.
Are you a singer?
- I do sing.
But for this challenge,
I am going to rap.
- Okay.
- I did want to throw in
a bit of rhymes here and there.
- Are you rhyming
with your name at all?
Menu?
- Yes.
- What rhymes with menu?
- Um...
- If the menu is anything to
go by, she's serving us nothing.
If I was Rita, I might
be a little bit intimidated.
- How are you doing, ladies?
- Struggling a little.
- Struggling a little?
- I'm just trying to
make it more personal.
So I'm getting there.
- What do we got?
- I've got...
[singing] Ivory Glaze shone like a star
when I live my truth and I've gone far.
Taking up space for
the Asians in the race.
Fashion chick, dreamt a
bit, sissied it, I'm the sh*t.
- Oh, my God.
You are gonna have a
mouthful there, my love.
After hearing Ivory's lyrics,
I am a little concerned how
she's gonna do in the challenge.
It's a bit wordy.
If she's confident
that she can sell this,
she just needs to deliver.
I just hope that
you can get it out.
- Yeah. Well, it's
like ten words, ish.
- Girl, that is not ten words.
- [singing] Ivory
Glaze shone like a star
when I live my truth
and I've gone far.
Taking up space...
- No reading.
- [singing] For the
Asians in the race.
Fashion queen, dreamt a
bit, sissied it, I'm the sh*t.
[speaking] In this
moment, I start freaking out.
It made me doubt my
own gut and my instinct.
Some of the thoughts
that kind of went by
was, you know, "Why am I here?
Why was I chosen?"
It's a lot.
It's a lot.
[upbeat music]
- Oh.
- Ooh!
- Oh, my God.
- This is it.
- [screams]
- We walk onto the
main stage, all ten of us,
and we have no idea
what the f*ck we're doing.
- All right, kids, who's
the choreographer?
- Dead silence.
Absolute silence.
No one wants to be the leader.
- I can do that if anyone
else doesn't want to.
- Are we all happy
for Ivanna to do it?
- Yeah.
- I am, yeah.
- And what are our
levels of dancing?
Not good?
- I am not a dancer.
I have danced.
So there's that.
- We're all comfortable
with a box step?
- I do that, just.
- Okay, cool.
- If you show me what
that is... [laughs] I can...
- Ivory doesn't know
what a box step is?
We've got no hope.
- You could do like a...
[singing] She's a super queen,
rhythm on the beat.
She's a super queen.
Rhythm on the beat.
She a super queen.
Because you get the nice
movement of the costumes.
- Oh, yeah.
- Ivanna is taking the lead.
She's bringing
a lot of old steps.
- [scatting]
- [scatting] One,
two, three, four, five.
Da, da, da.
I'm like, "Oh, we need
something more than that.
- I think there could be a
more elegant way of doing it.
Yeah.
[scatting]
Wonderful, Bumpa, you go.
Da, da, da, da. Taking the lead.
Holly, you come back.
And then you'll move this way.
You move this way.
You move forward.
Or maybe this one.
- I'm not following.
I'm so confused.
Because I'm so confused
with what Ivanna was saying,
I didn't think I absorbed
anything that !sis said.
- Okay, so Gab, once
Ivanna has moved that way,
you'll come back here.
- Now you go over here.
Now you go over here.
Now you go over here.
And then you've
got to go back here.
Then you, you're
going back here.
And then after
that, you're here.
And then you're here.
- I have a feeling I'm here.
- Move this way. So
you'll be in the top...
Uh, the back middle.
I do see that maybe Gab
is struggling a little bit.
Ivory and definitely Amyl.
- She's a super...
- Amyl is just
dazed and confused.
Ivory's glazed and confused.
Gabriella is just confused.
- Okay, so who's got an idea for
what we're doing in the chorus?
- Eh.
- [sighs]
[tense music]
- Girl.
Welcome to f*cking "RuPaul's
Drag Race Down Under."
[steady percussive music]
- We finished with
the choreography,
and I start spiraling out.
That little inkling of
doubt on the first day
really tipped the scales.
I just... I had to
step out for a bit.
- What are you going
through? Tell me.
- I just want to
go home already.
Sorry.
[crying]
I definitely feel the
pressure to do well.
When I was younger, I did
a lot to be the perfect child,
I guess.
And so I was constantly
having to meet these goals.
And it was never like,
"Congratulations, you did it."
It was always like, "Oh, but why
haven't you done this as well?"
I just don't know why I'm here.
Like...
- You're here. You've
already made it.
You're an amazing,
amazing queen.
- My relationship with my
parents is an interesting one.
My mum knows I do drag.
My dad has no clue.
My mum... she wasn't
very, like, supportive.
She was like, "You know?
Maybe don't tell Dad."
She then just turned around,
and it didn't exist anymore.
- It's your time to shine.
It really is.
- I just need to prove it,
I think, to myself
more than anyone else.
- Yeah. Yeah.
- What drives me
in this competition
is that desire to do well so
that I can make them proud.
- You've set
yourself a challenge.
And we don't set ourselves
challenges we can't rise to.
- I've got a lot riding on this
competition and how I do here.
[upbeat electronic music]
- Whoo!
- We're here.
- So how's everyone feeling?
- Eeh!
[laughter]
I'm feeling eh.
I am stressed as hell.
I just want to get my makeup
on and get onto the main stage.
I'm just praying
for the best, really.
- I also was not in a
good place yesterday.
- Was there anything
specifically that, like,
knocked you out of place?
- It was my lyrics.
I was feeling really happy
and confident about it.
Flor and Holly, you guys
came and kind of said
that this wasn't
gonna be the tea.
And then Gabriella came
and just kind of sent me.
- I was trying to be helpful.
- I think Ivory is
a bit delusional.
I think what Flor and I said was
definitely constructive criticism.
I also... I don't
have time for this.
I don't care.
I have tunnel vision.
- We're here for
you, sweetheart.
- Thank you. I slept on it,
and I feel much better anyway,
so I'm ready to take
on the challenge.
- I'm hoping that the
late-night choreography
is gonna pay off and
we can f*ck sh*t up.
[all cheering]
Yes, yes, yes. Challenge.
[upbeat electronic music]
- Honestly, I just felt like I
was giving friendly advice.
- Same. I thought
we were helping her.
If you get into your
head, it's not my problem.
Like, I was trying
to be nice to you.
I think if you can't say who you
are or, like, what you represent
or, like, what your brand is,
it's because maybe you are not
ready or you don't know who you are.
I didn't know I was gonna
affect someone by helping.
- Yeah.
- So who's been to Mardi Gras?
Who's marched in the parade?
- I have marched.
- Yeah?
- Me too.
- It was the first Mardi
Gras that I'd ever been to.
And the experience of
walking down that road
with thousands upon thousands
of people, I could have cried.
It was so heartwarming.
- I mean, it really, I
guess, makes you think
about how much has
changed, obviously.
Because you know, it
wasn't always like that.
- Funny you say that, actually.
We were walking around Sydney,
and some guy pulled over
and yelled out his car, "f*ggots."
- Oh, my God.
- Like, during World Pride,
like rainbow stuff everywhere.
- What the f*ck?
- It reminds us that, like,
even though we've come so far,
there's still so much work to do.
- Yeah.
- Because, like, as much as we
take over Sydney for Mardi Gras
during that period of time,
that doesn't mean
that we're safe always.
- No.
- And then you have to think
about our regional people,
because they don't
have that visual impact
with thousands upon
thousands of people being proud
when, you know, in the country,
our poor sisters and
brothers and everyone else
are, you know,
committing suicide and sh*t.
- There's so many people
who would say that...
Why do we have Pride?
Why do we need it now?
We're safe.
But there's not every
place in the world that's safe.
There needs to be
safe spaces everywhere.
- Amen.
- I'm just gonna
be back in a minute.
I just want to go and
check in with Ivory.
I want to go and talk to Ivory
because when Ivory mentions
that she, you know,
was a bit in her head,
my heart just
hurts a little bit.
I want to make sure she knows
that my intentions were good
and I want her to do well.
- Hi.
- Can I pinch you for a second?
- Yeah, of course.
- Over here.
- All right, girl.
- I'm just feeling
a little bit guilty
about, like, you
being in your head,
because, like, I would feel so awful
if I was the thing that sent you home.
- I already knew that it wasn't
a personal direct attack at all.
It just got me
thinking about all, like,
oh, my God, the
inner saboteur stuff.
- Oh, my God. What
are they talking about?
- I think she's saying
sorry or something.
- I just wanted to check in,
because, like, I would feel so awful
if you really got in your head.
- No, you're totally fine.
- Can I hug it out quickly?
- Of course!
- I just feel so...
- I don't have to say
sorry for anything.
[upbeat music]
- Who do you think is
gonna be in the bottom?
- Let's say a name at
the same time together.
Both: One, two, three, Ivory.
- [laughs]
Stop.
No. We're going to hell.
[RuPaul's "Cover Girl" playing]
- [singing] Cover girl
Put the bass in your walk
Head to toe
Let your whole body talk
And what?
[speaking] Welcome to the main stage
of "RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under."
Michelle Visage,
now which came first?
The decriminalization of
h*m* in Australia
or Rhys Nicholson?
- Ru, that's a trick question,
because Rhys Nicholson
hasn't come in years.
- Oh...
- [laughs]
- Rhys Nicholson.
- Yes.
- Now, when's the last
time you tasted the rainbow?
- Tasted the rainbow?
Well, contrary to vicious rumors
being spread by unnamed cohosts,
I tasted the rainbow
just this morning.
- Really?
- We're talking
about Skittles, yeah?
[laughter]
- And welcome my buddy,
our extra special guest judge,
Deva Mahal.
Now Deva, which do you prefer,
Aussie Queens or Kiwi Queens?
- Let's just say I go both ways.
[laughter]
- This week, we challenged
our queens to show us
their pride, Mardi Gras style.
Racers, start your engines,
and may the best drag queen win.
They bring it to you
every Mardi Gras.
Introducing the queens of
"RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under."
[RuPaul's "Super Queen" playing]
[singing] She's a super queen
She's a super queen
- [singing] Welcome
to the land down under
Hollywould coming
in like thunder
If you want to see a star,
then stop where you are
'Cause you just met
the ninth world wonder
- [singing] G'day, it's Bumpa
Love and I'm your super queen
I ain't here to f*ck around
You wait and see
- [singing] G-A-B-R,
it's too long to spell
But I'm super
talented, can't you tell
I'm the regional queen
that deserves to be seen
By hundreds and
thousands I'm keen
- [singing] My name's
Ivanna, my tuck is tight
Don't look at my
knickers; you'll get a fright
Oh, I'm just here to party
- [singing] It's Ashley,
coming at you in 3D
Showgirl and my face on your TV
Business b*tch
making you do this
Educating these queens
like we're in school because
- [singing] She's a super queen
Never miss a beat
She's a super queen
Landing on her feet
Hey, she's a super queen
Turning up the heat
She's a super queen
Flawless victory, yeah
Fly, fly, fly, fly, uh-oh, uh-oh
Fly, fly, fly, fly, uh-oh, uh-oh
Fly, fly, fly, fly, uh-oh, uh-oh
Fly, fly, fly, fly
Walk, walk, walk,
walk, sissy that walk
- [singing] Guatemala
to Down Under
[sings in Spanish]
Giving you the full claw
La Latina named Flor
- [singing] You're
looking for a star
Let me step up to the plate
'Cause you're high in my
beauty you can't see straight
Dressed to the nines
and I'm getting my tens
I'm slaying the world,
you can say that again
- [singing] Rita
Menu is the name
Serving spicy looks
and curves for days
She loves to sing,
dance, and split
She's a full course meal,
entree, main, dessert
- [singing] !sis on the
runway singing my song
q*eer love showed
me where I belong
Wear my pride just like fashion
Full of love, heart, and passion
- [singing] Ivory
Glaze shone like a star
When I live my truth,
now I've gone far
Taking up space for
the Asians in the race
Fashion chick, dreamt a
bit, sissied it, I'm the sh*t
- [singing] And
if I fly or if I fall
Least I can say I gave it all
And if I fly or if I fall
I'm on my way
She's a super queen
Never miss a beat
Fly, fly, fly, fly, uh-oh, uh-oh
And if I fly or if I fall
She's a super queen
I gave it all
She's a super queen
And if I fly or if I fall
She's a super queen
Sissy that walk
[cheering]
- [singing] Stunting
all these b*tches
It's Miss Paul...
- With flags flying, category is
Somewhere Under The Rainbow.
Up first, !sis Avis Loren.
- I'm first on the runway.
My bodysuit is
rhinestoned for the gods,
and it is representing my
pride as a q*eer person
but also the darkness
that comes with it as well.
- I'm colorblind.
Is that a rainbow?
- [laughs]
- She's blooming right on stage.
- [laughs]
- It means so much to me
because I'm reclaiming
the pink triangle.
Death is silence.
I feel very proud
in this moment.
- Ivanna Drink.
- Waiter?
- I am serving you
rainbow parade chic.
And I am inspired by the fact
that even when there's darkness
all around, pride will prevail.
Just kidding, I
really like the outfit
and I thought it
was really cute.
So I just retrofitted the
description to match.
- Twister? I don't
even know her.
- Right hand, left hip.
- Amyl.
- This look is tie dye for.
Bye, everyone.
- Yes, good night.
- Yeah.
- Walking down the
runway for the first time
is mind blowing.
The message that I'm
bringing to the runway today
is a message of hope.
Lifetimes are not what
they used to be in the sense
that we've got whole new
ways to fight something
that had previously
devastated communities.
And I think that's
really powerful.
- Ashley Madison.
- On the runway, I am serving
Vivienne Westwood eleganza.
It's a little bit witchy,
it's a little bit edgy.
This is one of the best
looks I have ever presented.
I am so confident
walking this stage,
and I know that the
judges are gonna get this.
[smooth music playing]
- Are you a good
witch or a bad witch?
- I'm a sandwich. [laughter]
- Rita Menu.
- Today on the runway, I am
representing the g*y men flag,
greens, whites, and blues.
- That's a Greek wrap,
also known as a gyro.
[laughs]
- Three seasons in and
that's the stupidest one
I've ever heard.
- It's the first time they've
seen me walk the stage,
and I'm having
the time of my life.
- Bumpa Love.
- So my outfit is stunning.
It was made to fit my body
to a T. I am feeling amazing.
- Okay, yeah.
- I'm here for it.
- I own 51% of
this feather farm.
- 61.
[laughter]
- They call her the Thickarus.
[laughter]
Bye.
- Gabriella Labucci.
- What's gonna happen?
- I don't know.
Wonder what's under there.
- Ooh.
- On the runway tonight,
I am wearing a gown.
I came in wearing
that crochet number,
so I'm giving you
versatility from day one.
- Ooh, couture by Lifesavers.
[laughter]
- Walking the runway
feels so damn good.
I am just here to have a
good time, walk, I give glamour,
and I've got to throw in
a bit of dickhead as well.
- That reminds me, I
got to get my roots done.
[laughter]
- Ivory Glaze.
- Tonight on the
runway, I am serving you
my rainbow glaze
fantasy, darling.
Imagine if a sexy lady
got come on by a unicorn.
I wanted to give
rainbow drops of glaze.
- Well, I guess she didn't
see the wet paint sign.
- I feel gorgeous.
My hair matches.
My gloves match.
It's such a good look. I
hope the judges enjoy it.
- Hollywould Star.
Mm. Black Panther on the runway.
- Okay.
- Tonight I'm wearing
a couture garment
inspired by the Black
Lives Matter movement
and wanted to incorporate
the progressive flag.
- Black Velvet, if you please.
- I literally feel
like a black panther
ready to eat these
competitors alive, honey.
Hollywould Star is the runaway
queen of the season, hands down.
- That's my fister sister.
- [laughs]
- Now please welcome
to the floor Flor.
- [laughs]
- On the runway, I'm giving you
the f*cking full forest
of Guatemala, girl.
I'm giving you colors,
texture, volume,
animals, all the glamour.
- Note to self: do not go
to Bali to get work done.
- All that fierceness,
pride, living my fantasy.
- Kia ora, queens.
- Yeah!
- Aussie, Aussie, Aussie.
All: Oy, oy, oy.
- [laughs] When I say your name,
please step forward.
!sis.
Ivanna.
Rita.
Bumpa Love.
Ladies, you are all safe.
You may leave the stage.
Ladies, you represent the
tops and bottoms of the week.
Now it's time for
the judges' critiques.
Up first, Amyl.
- Hello.
- We're gonna start
with your performance.
Now, you were so nervous.
You were looking everywhere,
trying to find reassurance,
when really, the truth is,
you would have been just fine.
- You went to this
kind of other place
where it looked like you were thinking
a couple steps ahead the whole time.
And I think, like, I don't
know, your name's Amyl.
Loosen up.
- [laughs]
Amyl, you've got great style.
- Thank you.
- You've got a great look.
The thing that was
missing in the performance
was that star quality.
This is something
you have to figure out.
You're on the
world's biggest stage,
and this is your opportunity.
Why are you freezing up?
- I think in a nutshell, it is
that I just maybe don't trust
myself as much as I should.
- Well, thank you very much.
- Thank you.
- Up next, Ashley Madison.
- I think the biggest sin
that you committed was,
every time you raised your arm,
your n*pples popped out.
And you look amazing tonight.
Same crime was committed.
That's a big red X.
- Aside from your t*tties
hanging out, you were in it.
- Now, I know that you were
asked if you wanted to put on pasties,
and you declined.
Why did you decline?
- I thought that if I
put my arms up lower,
then they wouldn't come out.
- Sometimes the universe
has stage directions.
And when the
stage directors say,
"Would you like to do
something about your n*pples?"
that was the opportunity
to go, "Yes, I would."
Well, thank you so much, Ashley.
Up next, Gabriella Labucci.
- Hi.
- I actually really
enjoyed your performance.
I thought that you were present.
You had a point of view.
I love that sense of self
and sense of confidence.
That's what you need.
- I do feel like the outfit maybe
could have stepped up a little bit more,
but I really loved your energy.
- As soon as you hit the
stage, it was that stupid look.
It was like, "What
is she thinking?"
Where did you get your
sense of wacky style?
- Style is definitely a word
that people would use,
just not about me.
So, um... [laughter]
- You look stunning tonight.
Well done.
- Thank you.
- Thank you.
Up next, Ivory Glaze.
- Your performance,
you struggled a little bit.
But tonight, exquisite.
- Thank you.
- This is stunning.
The performance, you were
getting smaller and smaller.
You were so clearly
in your own head.
- You wanted to get
everything perfect.
And the beauty of
this show is letting go.
- You sort of dimmed away
in this, and it was unfortunate.
Do you have a nightclub act?
- No.
So I actually work full
time as a business analyst.
- As a business analyst?
- Yes, I work in
corporate at a bank.
- So why do you do drag?
- I feel like, you know,
maybe out of drag,
I'm not, like, the most
exceptional person.
Sorry.
I feel like when I'm in drag,
and I can do everything,
I feel exceptional.
- That's the power of drag.
That same confidence
you get from drag,
you have to apply that
to your performance.
Get into your power self
and do not diminish yourself.
- Thank you.
- Up next, Hollywould Star.
- Hollywould, you
had enough attitude
and star quality and confidence
to feed all the children.
And then of course, on the
runway, it sends a message.
And yet it's you and
it's done your way.
- I loved you
straight out the gate.
The outfit, the look,
every single detail
from head to toe.
I was living for you.
- You sold it.
It was so much fun.
What does Pride mean to you?
- Being able to
represent my culture,
infuse it with being q*eer, I
think, is so important to me.
- Thank you so much.
- Flor is up next.
Michelle.
- You were so much fun.
And your pride of the lyrics
that you wrote, I love that.
- You have this
confidence on stage
that you kind of became
the unannounced leader
of the pack, I guess.
The look tonight,
and I really love it.
- I do love the incorporation
of your Indigenous culture.
But I really wanted
to see your face,
because I feel like people
are just getting to meet Flor.
- You came here from Guatemala.
What brought you to New Zealand?
- I moved with my ex-partner,
and then we broke up.
He moved to the U.S.,
but I loved New Zealand.
So I was like, I think I can
call New Zealand home.
And that's why I'm here still.
[laughs]
- Can we see your
face real quick?
Can you take that off?
- I'd like to keep it on.
- You'd like to
leave it on. Yes.
There you are.
- Yeah.
[laughter]
- Surprise.
- Thank you, queens.
I think we've heard enough.
While you untuck
in the Werk Room,
the judges and
I will deliberate.
You may leave the stage.
[upbeat music]
- Congratulations!
- We're not going home first.
- No.
- Oh, my God, welcome back.
- Darlings.
- Right, who has an MP3 player?
- Oh, my God, what?
What happened? Tell us.
- They said that I
looked incredibly nervous.
I'm feeling veritably gutted.
I feel...
[groans]
I'm devastated.
I feel like I'm
letting myself down.
I feel like I'm letting everyone
who's cheering me on down.
It's literally heartbreaking.
I don't want to have to
be lip-synching already.
It's a terrible start.
- Who else do you
think is gonna lip-synch
for their life tonight?
- Basically, they were saying that
I didn't have enough confidence.
I'm just gonna give it
my all, hopefully convey
that I've got enough
presence on a stage
to justify being here.
- I think they loved you, Ivory.
I think with me, the
nervousness thing
was just so, so present.
- But I had the
same thing, girl.
Even though I got some
really great feedback
about my outfit, I
genuinely think that I will be
lip-synching against Amyl.
And that sucks, because she's
like my close Sydney sister.
- Do you want to talk yet, or...
- Not while my
lashes are like this.
- Poor little Ashley Madison.
She is just so upset.
- I'm so embarrassed.
- Why? Don't be.
- Don't be embarrassed.
- When it came to, like, the
choreography, it was fine.
My look, they loved
the showgirl look,
they loved this.
It's just my f*cking n*pples.
- What?
- What?
- That was it. That was
the only critique they had.
- [slurps]
- I'm so embarrassed.
- Don't feel embarrassed, honey.
- You know what?
We're so proud of you, darling.
- We are.
- We all let her
have her moment.
We are doing our best to
get her out of this mindset.
- You made it here,
and it wasn't easy,
and you came all
the way from Sydney.
Melbourne. Sorry.
- [laughs]
- In any case, I hope you
don't have to lip-synch.
If I had to choose,
though, I would choose
to lip-synch against Ashley.
I don't want to send
you home, Ivory.
- You want to send me home?
- Better you than Ivory, yes.
- There's so much weighing
on me in this moment.
I think I walked
into this competition
with so much confidence.
I feel so stupid.
All because of one
mistake that I've made.
It could send me home.
- May the best woman win.
- All right, now just
between us kangaroos,
what do you think?
Let's start with Amyl.
- Amyl is so beautiful.
She has style.
I was here for all of it, apart
from the performance itself.
- [laughs]
- The nerves got
the best of her.
But I also feel like maybe
there's something in there.
- Something's
standing in her way.
And listen, we can
shake her all we want,
but it's really up to
Amyl to make it work.
- Let's talk about
Ashley Madison.
- In the performance,
you know, she was there
in that blue showgirl outfit,
which, by the way, was gorgeous.
- Yes.
- But then nipplegate happened.
- It's not often I find myself
staring at a pair of t*ts.
- [laughs]
- And then she came out on
the runway and did it again.
- Also, to be honest, I
didn't love her runway look.
- She was at the head of the
lineup for the stage presentation,
and she looked like
she belonged there
until she raised her arms.
- [laughs]
- All right, let's talk
about Gabriella Labucci.
- Gabriella Labucci
is one that you look at
and you're like, "Huh."
[laughter]
- I live for the camp queen.
So when my eyes
caught Gabriella,
I was like, thank you.
- She's very funny.
And she knows who she
is, and she's delivering it.
Ivory.
- In the performance,
she was so lost.
But tonight on the
runway, she's so beautiful.
- She talked about the
freedom drag gives her.
And that is right on point.
It does give you freedom.
But that doesn't mean
that you are a performer.
Hollywould.
- What a way to start.
That's how you come out.
And she let us know she
was here to slay the game.
- I wanted to hold
onto her handlebars.
- She came with the charisma. She
came with the look and the attitude.
Hollywould is indeed a star.
Flor.
- Flor was so much fun
from the minute we saw her.
I love what she did, and I'm
excited about that one as well.
- Straight off the bat,
the energy was there.
The passion was there.
It's amazing that she
paid homage to Guatemala.
I just really wanted to
see at least part of her face.
- You know, the charisma
is just undeniable.
All right.
Silence.
I've made my decision.
Bring back my girls.
Welcome back, queens.
I've made some decisions.
Gabriella Labucci,
Flor,
this week, nobody
rained on your parade.
You are both safe.
- Thank you.
- Thank you.
- Hollywould Star, this
week, you floated our boat.
Condragulations, you're the
winner of this week's challenge.
[cheers and applause]
- Thank you.
- You've won custom
prosthetics valued at $3,500,
courtesy of BODYFX.
- Thank you so much.
Hollywould Star has
taken the first one home.
I feel amazing.
[dramatic music]
- Ivory Glaze.
I'm sorry, my dear, but
you are up for elimination.
Amyl.
I'm sorry, my dear, but
you are up for elimination.
Ashley, you are safe.
You may join the other girls.
- You will never
see my nips again.
- Two queens stand before me.
Ladies, this is your last
chance to impress me
and save yourself
from elimination.
The time has come
for you to Lip Sync...
for Your Life.
- So it's me and my girl Ivory,
which I am feeling
absolutely gutted about.
I hate to send her home,
but I'm gonna have to.
It's either me or her.
- There's a fire under
my a*s right now.
I am ready to win this lip sync.
I am not going home.
- Good luck, and
don't f*ck it up.
[Men At Work's
"Down Under" playing]
- [singing] Traveling
in a fried-out Kombi
On a hippie trail,
head full of zombie
I met a strange lady
She made me nervous
She took me in and
gave me breakfast
She said
Do you come from
a land down under
Where women glow and men plunder
- I'm watching this
lip sync, and honestly,
I can't tell you
who's going home.
They're both giving the
same amount of energy
and, to be honest with you,
the same choreo as well.
[laughs]
- [singing] Buying bread
from a man in Brussels
He was 6 foot 4
and full of muscle
I said, do you
speak-a my language
He just smiled and gave
me a Vegemite sandwich
He said do you come
from a land down under
Yeah, yeah
Where women glow and men plunder
Can't you hear, can't
you hear the thunder
Oh, yeah
You better run
You better take cover
'Cause we are living
in a land down under
Where women glow and men plunder
Can't you hear, can't
you hear the thunder
Ooh yeah
You better run
You better take cover
Oh, yeah
[cheers and applause]
- [laughs]
- Ladies, I've made my decision.
[dramatic music]
Ivory Glaze, shantay, you stay.
[soft pop nocturne music]
You may join the other girls.
- Thank you. Thank you so much.
- My queen, now that
the world's got a whiff,
everyone's gonna want more Amyl.
Now sashay away.
[applause]
- Well, I'm off to
ransack the Werk Room.
Bye, girls.
[laughter]
[soft pop nocturne music]
I am feeling embarrassed.
I'm feeling disappointed.
There were so many people
who had expectations and hopes,
and I've just let them down.
I feel like I'm letting
down that one girl
who came up to
me crying, saying,
"I never see people
like you on stage."
I just didn't want to go first.
Oh, my God, my shoes.
- Condragulations, queens.
And remember, if
you can't love yourself,
how in the hell you gonna
love somebody else?
Can I get an amen up in here?
All: Amen.
- All right.
Now let the music play.
- [singing] Playing
with the game of love
When you're playing, playing
When I'm playing, playing
Oh baby I'm a winner
- Next time on "RuPaul's
Drag Race Down Under"...
You need to create a
dress out of Muriel's bedding.
- The lingerie! I've got that.
- Ow!
- Now, you can be a bride, bridesmaid,
or even the flower girl.
- A little birdie may
have mentioned
you didn't change your outfit,
that !sis has
changed your outfit.
- Ooh.
- You came out, you gave
us drama, you gave us flowers.
- It's serving with energy.
- Your breasts seem like they're
in different hemispheres.
- You okay?
- Are you okay?
- Wait, some... somebody...
