And it's a '34 ford,
so it had fenders,

kind of original looking,
But we wanted to build
a period-correct,
'70S show-drag car.
This is all original?

We chopped.

We chopped it.
We ripped off all the fenders.
We rebuilt everything on it.
There's not a nut or bolt
on this car
That we didn't make
and do here.
So this is a complete overhaul
on this thing.
How long does that take?
Believe it or not, we built
this car in about 30 days.
So while we're taking a look
at the different cars,
I'm asking richard how long
it took for the car to transform
From when he got it
to the condition
I'm looking at now,
which is finished,
And he's kicking back,
you know, like 6 weeks,
Fit into our time frame.
Sounds kind of fun.

To get some rumble
and that '70s hot-rod look.
Brown is the staple color

And it's very '70s,
So we're going to stick
with the brown paint
But a more modern,
glossy version.
The wood paneling, well,
that's going to go.
It's a sticker anyways.
The interior is in great shape
and, well, avocado green
Was another staple color
in the '70s,
So we'll save some money
and keep it the same color
As the brady's refrigerator.
I bought this car for 15 grand,

The problem is there's
no teflon tape on the fitting.
Yeah, there's no sealer.

did you ever call a plumber
to hook up the water line
To a refrigerator or possibly
to your dishwasher?
They always tell you don't
overtighten the threads
Because if you do,
you're going to strip them.
It's the fitting.
We can stop.

plumber's tape.
Same thing here.
The lines running off the fuel
pump can't be overtight,
And you need to use
gas-proof teflon tape
To make a good seal
over the threads.
But it turns out,
somehow we forgot the tape.
-And...
-And take two.
Go for it.[ Engine starts ]
-Whoo.
-Like gold.
Yeah.[ Chatter ]
-Groovy.
-Sounds great.
-Let's top off the transmission.
-Check the fluids?
Make sure we go through
all the gears.
-Yeah.
-And then wheels and tires.
Wheels and tires.
[ Chatter ]so good, let's do it.
Josh:
now we only have 3 hours left
to give the brady bunch wagon
On the intercity lines
transport truck
And on its way to los angeles.
So, besides topping off
all the fluids,
We need to get the weather
stripping on all five doors.
Then we'll need to pop
on the wheels
And install the freshly
reupholstered third-row seat,
Which should be here any minute,
So that we can make peter
and jan brady proud.
Is that the seat?

I don't know anything else
that would be this lovely shade

to recreate
The "brady bunch" station wagon
as part of hgtv's brady
House renovation,
I said, "hell yeah."
Far out.
I paid 15 grand for this
'69 plymouth satellite wagon
And gave the monkeys
another 15 grand
And 25 days to get it done.
The side paneling
is all vinyl?
It is.ugh.
The paint and body crew
yanked off
The wood panel decal and chrome,
and mike worked his magic
With the brady brown body color,
Adding a splash
of gas monkey attitude.
Are we there yet?
I got to pee.
All right.
You kids be quiet.
I need to
concentrate on the road.
We upped the cool factor
by blacking out the hood
And ultimately decided to add
a streamlined vinyl graphic
With the gas monkey logo.
Now everyone will know who
created this kick-a*s beast.
For big muscle appeal,
we threw on side exhaust pipes
To give the 318 v8 engine
a deep, throaty growl.
And to make this the most
intimidating grocery grabber
Ever, we gave it
a forward-leaning stance
With air shocks
to complete the dragster look,
Along with classic rims
and tires.
For the interior,
we kept the original
Avocado green upholstery,
But added an impossible-to-find
third-row seat wayback
In the back
so the whole family can fit in.
And to keep everybody
comfortable
And dry on road trips,
we fitted the wagon with custom
Weather stripping from
steele weather products.
So, with the souped-up
brady-mobile ready for hair
And makeup,

We're handing it over to our
friends at intercity lines,
Who will ship it off to
hollywood for its big premiere.
♪♪
♪♪
So, today is a big day
because we're bringing
Our "brady bunch" wagon to
the brady bunch house.
Hey, richard,

That would be nice.
This is totally sleeker, meaner,
faster than the brady original.

Without that third seat,
A couple of people
have to be on the roof.
It was a fun project.
We had a blast.
Very good.
Now the only thing left to find
do is take it for a ride.
-Yeah.
