MC: We have kept you waiting far too long.

MC: Today's finally the day the super-luxury express Silver Star debuts.

MC: The Goldstruck Republic's multimillionaire with a deep love for Japan and railways,

MC: Avery Richman, poured his personal funds into creating a dream private railway.

MC: That is the Silver Star.

MC: Unfortunately, Mr. Richman couldn't be here with us today,

MC: but regardless, we shall be departing very shortly.

Maya: Isn't this amazing?

Maya: They made it a choo-choo train on purpose.

Maya: How nostalchic.

PW: You mean nostalgic.

Maya: All right.

Maya: Let's go, Nick.

Gum: Huh? It's you two!

PW: Detective Gumshoe?

Maya: And the judge, too!

J: Hello there.

Gum: We entered the postcard contest and won.

J: I'm going on a tour of the hot springs in the north aboard a retro train.

Maya: Ta-dah!

Maya: We were invited!

MC: We depart!

Sign: : PM — Departure

PW: Cutting off our fun journey aboard the luxury express Silver Star,

PW: Maya calls Detective Gumshoe for help,

PW: but it turns out the car we're in has vanished without a trace.

PW: And now, the Silver Star has transformed into a court on wheels,

Title: Northward, Turnabout Express — nd Trial

J: Court is now in session for the trialof fugitive Avery Richman!

PW: Are you okay, Maya?

Maya: Yeah, I let Detective Gumshoe knowwhat was going on.

J: Prosecutor Turnbull, your opening statement, please.

Sai: Let me be perfectly clear.

Sai: America's justice system is perfect.

Sai: This retrial is nothing but a waste of time.

Rich: If that were true,

Rich: I wouldn't have had to resort to such drastic measures.

PW: Here's the thing. We know absolutely nothing about the case.

J: That is certainly true.

Sai: I didn't prosecute the case,

Sai: but as a member of the United States Attorney's Office,

Sai: I have a database of notable cases on me at all times.

Sai: Let me fill you in.

Sai: One year ago, at the All-American Trade Federation's year-end ceremony,

Sai: its secretary-general,Benjamin Cashanova, was m*rder*d.

Sai: Mr. Cashanova saw the Goldstruck Republic's financial might as a threat

Sai: and was trying to boot it out of America's economy.

Sai: The accused, Avery Richman, wouldn't stand for that,

Sai: leading to the incident during the ceremony.

Sai: This is a map of the ceremony venue.

Sai: Here's where the victim was standing.

Sai: He was giving a year-end speech.

Sai: And this is where the shot was fired from.

Sai: Upon hearing the g*nsh*t, everyone in attendance looked in that direction

Sai: and found the defendant, Avery Richman, standing there.

Sai: Nearby policemen restrained him.

Sai: When they frisked him, they found the m*rder weapon, a p*stol.

Sai: The barrel was hot, as though it had just been fired,

Sai: and only his fingerprints were found on it.

Rich: I didn't have a g*n on me back then!

Sai: A p*stol was found in the defendant's inner coat pocket.

Sai: That is the undeniable truth.

J: Everything does seem to indicate the defendant's guilt.

Sai: Of course.

PW: No wonder an American court declared him guilty.

J: Defense? What do you say?

PW: I have my doubts about that p*stol.

Maya: Yeah! Mr. Richman says he wasn't carrying one!

Rich: I wasn't. There was no way to sneak one into the venue, anyway.

Sai: As the ceremony's guest of honor,

Sai: you had been exempted from the body search.

Sai: Besides...

Sai: There is no doubt that the m*rder weapon belonged to the defendant.

Sai: The p*stol's registration proves that.

Rich: True, that was my g*n.

Rich: However... I know! Someone must have stolen it!

Rich: To frame me for m*rder!

Sai: Do you have proof?

Rich: Th...

Rich: That's...

Maya: Ugh... He's leaving no openings at all!

J: It appears there is no need to overturn the verdict after all.

PW: Please wait.

PW: We should hear what the witnesses have to say first!

Sai: Good grief.

Sai: You attorneys don't know when to give up.

PW: Uh, you're an attorney yourself!

PW: You were in attendance for that ceremony, yes?

Sign: Witness — Edgar Piston

Pist: Indeed.

Pist: I'm Edgar Piston of the All-American CRY Foundation.

PW: Even the smallest detail will do.

PW: Did you notice something, anything when the incident occurred?

Pist: I mentioned this a year ago too,

Pist: but right before Mr. Cashanova was shot, he halted his speech.

Pist: He seemed taken aback by something.

PW: His speech? But why?

Cyl: The tray.

Cyl: It must've been the tray.

PW: You are?

Sign: Witness — Allan Cylinder

Cyl: I'm Allan Cylinder of the Council.

Cyl: You see, a waiter loudly dropped a tray to the floor.

Maya: A tray?

Cyl: Mr. Cashanova was distracted by the sound,

Cyl: and the very next moment...

Rich: Yes, a waiter did drop a tray right in front of me.

Rich: The g*nsh*t rang out right after that.

PW: Where did you hear the g*nsh*t come from?

Rich: It was very close to me,but I don't know where exactly.

Cyl: Yes, I was nearby, too.

Pist: Who drops a tray in a moment like that?

Pist: Some five-star hotel waiter he was.

Cyl: Well, it's understandable. He was hurt.

PW: He was hurt?

Cyl: His right hand was bandaged. That's why I...

Sai: That's enough.

Sai: It has nothing to do with the m*rder.

J: Well, I fail to see any problems with their testimonies.

Sai: Looks like this retrial will end long before dawn.

Maya: Nick...

PW: Um, Mr. Richman...

Rich: Yes?

PW: You were the ceremony's guest of honor, yes?

Rich: Yes, that's right.

PW: Then why were you all the way over in a corner?

Rich: Oh, that was because...

Sai: This is pointless. Quit trying to stall.

Jam: He was there for me.

Cyl: Madame Mytonbred?

Jam: I still remember.

Sign: Mara Mytonbred

Jam: Mr. Richman was such a gentleman.

PW: What do you mean?

Jam: Back then,

Jam: I was listening to the speech.

Rich: Oh no!

Rich: I'll bring you some napkins at once.

Rich: The napkins were on the table at the very end of the banquet hall.

Rich: That's why I was there back then.

PW: And that's when the g*nsh*t rang out?

Jam: Yes. The terrible sound made me faint.

Cyl: Who spills champagne on a guest?

Cyl: Some five-star hotel waiter he was.

Jam: Well, it was understandable.

PW: How do you mean?

Jam: That waiter had an injured hand, after all.

Maya: Injured in what way, madam?

Jam: He was wearing a bandage...

Jam: On his right hand.

PW: A waiter with his right hand bandaged?

Cyl: Just like I saw.

Sai: Cease this pointless questioning at once!

Sign: Objection!

PW: Objection!

PW: The same bandaged right hand...

PW: Which means the two of them must have seen the same waiter.

J: That would be the natural assumption.

PW: That makes his behavior highly suspicious!

PW: Right after he spilled champagne on Missus Mytonbred,

PW: he dropped a tray in front of Richman, who'd gone to get napkins.

PW: It's almost like he followed him there.

J: He has a point.

PW: And immediately after he dropped the tray and drew everyone's attention,

PW: the g*n was fired from the same vicinity.

J: What is this waiter's name?

Sai: According to the records, it's Gale.

PW: Mr. Gale!

PW: Does anyone here knowwhere Mr. Gale might be?

Butter: Come to think of it, there was an unoccupied table during dinner.

Jam: Oh, now that you mention it...

Sai: Wait! Nobody move!

PW: What's going on?

Sai: The Chrysanthemum Room.

Sai: No doubt about it...

PW: Fire extinguisher!

Maya: I'll get it!

PW: Man...

PW: Lots of fires tonight.

PW: What's that?

Rich: What's the matter?

Maya: It's on fire!

Sai: Give me that!

Maya: A kn-knife?!

PW: Could it be...

Sai: Stay away!

Sai: He's already dead.

Sai: We have to preserve the crime scene.

Rich: Who's that inside?

Sai: Gale. I'm sure of it.

Sai: It seems he was m*rder*d by someone.

Rich: What?!

Sai: Tell the people in the dining car what's going on.

Sai: Keep watch and make sure none of them leave!

G: U-Understood!

Rich: How could this be? He was an important witness.

PW: Maybe he was m*rder*d because he was an important witness.

Rich: Who was it? Who did it?!

PW: I have no idea.

PW: But I do know the k*ller is on this train!

Reg: I'm truly sorry.

Reg: I didn't mean to sh**t.

Gum: Forget that. Where'd the dining car go?

Gum: Don't tell me...

Gum: Did you people k*ll them?!

Gum: If anything happens to them, I swear I'll make you pay!

Reg: Y-You're wrong!

Reg: We promised our king we wouldn't hurt anyone!

Gum: Your king?

Reg: I mean King Richman!

Gum: O-Ow!

Reg: I'm sorry.

Gum: If you're truly sorry,

Gum: you'll help me out.

Reg: H-Help you? With what?

Gum: I want to contact the outside.

Reg: No! We can't let the Japanese police know!

Reg: King's orders, and we have to obey.

Gum: Then I promise I won't tip off the Japanese police.

Gum: I'll keep it a secret.

Gum: I give you my word as a man!

Gum: Hurry!

Reg: The king's trial is currently being broadcast to a certain location.

Reg: If you use that channel, you can communicate with the outside.

Gum: I owe you one, pal.

Gum: Done!

Gum: Please! You're our only hope!

Gum: Enter!

Sai: In a m*rder case, preserving the crime scene is vital.

Rich: I remember that waiter's face very well.

Rich: I must confirm if it's him at once.

Sai: Have you forgotten the position you're in?

Sai: You're a fugitive. I can't have youmessing with the crime scene.

Rich: You seem to have forgotten something as well.

Rich: I'm the one who holds all the cards here.

Rich: The body...

Sai: What?

Sai: I-It can't be!

Rich: Didn't we see it here with our own eyes?

Rich: Where is the body?

Maya: Where did it go?!

Maya: Huh? This window doesn't open.

Rich: The door's the only way out.

PW: And we were standing right beside it.

PW: The body couldn't have been taken outside.

Rich: Where on earth did it go?

Maya: Oh, is this one of those locked-room m*rder mysteries?

PW: I don't think that's quite right.

Sai: Look, an ID.

Rich: There's no doubting it. That's the waiter.

Maya: Oh, this guy...

Gale: Where is the Chrysanthemum Room?

PW: Yeah.

PW: It was only for a moment, but we did see him.

PW: Rick?

Rick: I was wondering if there was anything I could do to help.

Rich: No, I'll be right back as well.

Rich: As for the trial...

Rich: We must put it off for now.

ME: It was him?

MIB: Cease and desist.

MIB: You will accompany us to the chief prosecutor's office right now.

ME: What did this redacted testimony say?

MIB: You are not allowed to ask questions.

MIB: Quietly come with us,

PW: Ah...

PW: So you've been working in America.

Sai: I mainly work with major international cases,

Sai: I never stand in court myself.

PW: So that's your role in the Attorney's Office?

Sai: I took a vacation and returned to Japan for the first time in ages.

Sai: That's when I received this invitation.

Maya: But, man, I'm kinda disappointed in America's courts.

PW: Maya...

Maya: I mean, they totally overlooked Gale.

Sai: We didn't overlook him.

Sai: We just concluded a year ago thathe had nothing to do with the m*rder.

Maya: But Edgeworth definitely wouldn't havelet the bandage thing go.

Sai: Edgeworth?

PW: Yes. He's a prosecutor and my friend.

Maya: He's Nick's rival.

Sai: Rival...

Sai: That argument doesn't explain the contradiction in the witness's testimony.

G: Th-That's...

Sai: You must consider any and all possibilities.

Sai: You lack insight, my friend.

Sai: I was in my third year of law school back then.

Sai: My name had become famous among students and professors alike.

Sai: They called me the most brilliant pupil to ever grace the school.

ME: You're overlooking a very real possibility.

Sai: What do you mean?

ME: The possibility that the witness is lying.

Sai: What? Don't be stupid, newbie!

ME: Among all the testimonies, this one sticks out like a sore thumb.

ME: You should consider it a trap set by the defense.

Sai: A-A trap?

Sai: That'd break the rules of a mock trial!

ME: A court debate must consider any and all possibilities.

ME: There are no rules to break.

ME: It seems you lack insight, my friend.

Sai: I felt like I'd caught a glimpse of what real talent was like.

Sai: After graduating law school,

ME: It's hidden very well,

ME: I don't want to believe it,

ME: but that trial shows signs of organizational malpractice.

GuyB: M-Malpractice?

GuyC: You dare doubt America's justice system?!

Chief: Sure, Avery Richman was a massive threat to our economy.

Chief: However, that doesn't mean we would ever manipulate our courts to get rid of him.

ME: Then...

ME: Why was I summoned here?!

ME: Declared guilty in a sham trial,Richman will have to cry himself to death!

Chief: Apparently, he's not much of a crier.

ME: What is this?

ME: Wright?!

ME: Is this the court on wheels Detective Gumshoe mentioned in his message?

ME: Turnbull?
