04x14 - Fantasy Land

Post by bunniefuu »

Narrator: deep in the jungles
of guyana...

We're still in the game,
and we're still running dirt.

Narrator: ...it's time for
the hoffman crew to put up...

Not getting the gold has got us
in a freaking corner.

Narrator: ...or shut up.
Wait!

With their claim owners
on their backs,

They have one more chance
to prove themselves.

And just when they need it most,

Dave makes a find
that could save their season.

Whoo-hoo!

That's what we're here for,
tony.

At scribner creek...

At the rate we're going,
we will not make it.

...parker and his crew battle
over which side of the river

Will get them
to their 800-ounce goal.

Parker: there's not even a flake
in it.

I think
that's [bleep] fantasyland.

Fantasyland might just be
our next cut.

Narrator:
and after a timely visit

From his beloved

Hey!

...he ends up on dirt so hot,

He can pull gold
right out of the ground.

All right, gene, have fun mining
with the crew.

I'm picking gold.

And down in alaska...

What the [bleep]
is going on?

...dustin kicks
his mountain-mining operation

Into high gear.

Dustin: we're getting closer
to the bottom.

Narrator: after just a few feet
of digging,

He hits bedrock
and what could be

The best ground the dakota boys
have ever seen.

Come on, gold.
Make a believer out of me.

At scribner creek
in the klondike,

Teenage mine-boss,
parker schnabel...

Am I loaded?
Yeah.

...is pushing his crew and
his machines harder than ever

To find 800 ounces of gold,
worth $1.1 million,

Before winter shuts down
his operation.

Parker: I mean, we just got to
keep the plant fed --

And that's fighting
for survival.

You do what you have to do,
right?

The door's closing [bleep] fast.

We got to work
as hard as we can.

Right now the plant is running
real good,

And it's running a lot of dirt,

And that's the problem --
we're just running dirt.

This material, at best,
is marginal.

Narrator: so far this season,

The klondike rookie has found
544 ounces

Worth three quarters
of a million dollars.

A little one there, huh?
That's a nice chunk of gold.

But at last week's clean-up,
his gold take was down 20%.

Parker: 140.
140. 112.

If his pay streak runs out,
parker has no chance

Of hitting his ambitious

He pans samples from the cut

To see how much gold is left
in the ground.

Parker:
we just need to make sure that

What we take to the plant
has gold in it.

This is not the very best stuff.

There's not even a [bleep] flake
in it.

All right.
I'm done.

Three zeroes -- I'm out.

Narrator:
with nothing in his pan,

Parker fears his cut may be
out of gold.

[Bleep] [bleep]

Just when he needs help most,

A wise, old miner arrives
at scribner creek.

This is the first time

John schnabel has seen his
grandson's klondike operation.

[ Chuckles ]
how you doing, grandpa?

Oh, it's good
to be out here.

[ Chuckles ]
it's nice to have you.

I'd love to show you around.
Okay.

Whatever. Let's go.

Oh, yeah.
I've got a ride over here.

Don't fall out.

I won't.
I'm not gonna fall out.

I'll hang on.
[ Chuckles ]

I'm amazed.

How many yards a day
you running?

Parker:
just over 1,000.

Wow.
Yeah, probably around 1,200.

Well, that's pretty nice.

I'm really impressed.

Narrator:
john taught parker everything
he knows about mining.

With his klondike ground
running out of gold,

Parker desperately needs
his grandpa's advice.

This ground
isn't that great.

What do you get in a yard?
$5?

Probably.
A little better.

We'll get a little bit
more yardage out of the plant,

But not a whole lot.
Right.

I'm not sure
what to do about it.

John has been mining
since before parker was born.

If there's better gold
on parker's claim,

His grandpa will know
where to look.

Did you drill over there,
though?

No.
We didn't drill this far up.

Well, then maybe there's
a good pay streak over here.

There must be gold
down under it.

Parker: well, I mean, we've got
a choice between, you know,

Playing it safe
where we're at right now

Or taking a risk and going
to the other side of the creek.

I think you should
at least investigate

Before you quit
this season.

That's 'cause you think
like a gold miner.

[ Laughing ]

Back to work.

John: I don't make
any prediction to him.

I just merely comment,
"it's worth investigating".

If he thinks going
to the other side of the creek

Might be a good idea, then...

You know, I might just go over
there and prospect something

Because, I mean,
he's trusted me a lot.

There's no reason I shouldn't
trust his opinion.

Narrator: south in guyana...

Todd hoffman has one last shot
to keep his jungle claim.

We're still in the game,
and we're still running dirt.

Start her up.

Narrator: the crew runs dirt
through the lavador,

Searching for the diamonds

That will buy them more time
from claim owner tony mekdeci.

Tony -- he wants us to get

At least 30 diamonds
by the end of the week.

If it works out
that we don't make it,

It isn't because we didn't try.

Narrator: last week,

The hoffman crew failed to meet
tony's demands for gold.

We can't even get two ounces
out of the ground.

You got to be kidding me!

They found 15 diamonds,

But tony demanded 30 more
within seven days.

If they fail, he will throw them
off of the claim.

I think we can get 30 diamonds.
I really do.

Narrator: now, dave and local
mining expert tony melville

Head up hope creek two miles
into the jungle.

Yeah.

They are searching
for pay gravels

That hold enough diamonds
to keep them in the game.

What do you got, tony?

Yeah.

Gravel is sinking
way down there.

Way down.
Way down.

Is that good?
That is good.

Ah.

A what?

That is a shout.

A shout would be like

"I'm gonna be so excited
that I'm gonna go 'whoo-hoo!'"

Narrator:
what tony calls a shout

Is a natural depression
in the bedrock

That traps gravel
as it flows downstream.

This mineral-rich deposit

Could hold millions of dollars
in diamonds.

[ Chuckles ]

That's what we're here for,
tony.

This is the first
really good news I've heard.

This could be something
really, really special.

That's virgin ground.

This is why we came here.

This is why we're mining, and
now we've got to get to work.

Narrator: the shout
is surrounded by dense jungle

Two miles upstream
of the existing hope creek cut.

Before he can get to the pay,

Dave needs to clear ground
and dig a test hole.

Dave calls in andy
and the 290 excavator.

Spinks: I'm ready to dig here,
I think,

So I'll wait for you guys
to get up here.

We got our work cut out
for us now. Okay?

Let's get her done.
Let's do it.

Flooding during the rainy season

Has left the ground next to
hope creek dangerously unstable.

That's deep,
and that's a lot of water.

It's a lot of work to get
that much water

Out of there in that deep.

Narrator:
as andy starts digging...

This is
a bunch of crap.

...water quickly overwhelms
the site.

What the frick.

If they can't get the creek
under control,

There's no chance they'll be
able to get down to the shout,

No chance of 30 diamonds.

Turin: if we've moved down here
too soon,

We've got nothing but problems.

I don't like it.

Look at how much water's
down here.

Lookit -- that's all water
and mud.

Narrator:
in the frozen wilds of alaska,

Dustin hurt and his crew are
breaking ground at cahoon creek.

We're getting closer
to the bottom.

This mountain claim was
once locked under a glacier.

Until now, getting to its gold
was thought to be impossible.

If things were too easy,
it wouldn't be a challenge.

Narrator: five weeks ago,

Dustin finally found great gold
up at cahoon creek.

We need to start mining
up there.

"Dakota" fred bought into
dustin's plan,

Investing tens of thousands

To get portable equipment
up the mountain.

We've got a wash plant and two
running excavators on cahoon.

Now we just got to find
the gold.

Narrator: now, dustin's crew
has to prove

That cahoon can make
them all rich,

But he only has enough fuel
and supplies to last one week.

I think we're ready to find
some gold now, for sure.

Narrator:
dustin feeds the wash plant

With the mini ec20 excavator.

This close to the source
of all porcupine creek gold,

Every yard could be worth
thousands.

We got it flowing good now.

But within minutes...

[ Clanking ]

...there's a problem with
their makeshift wash plant.

It's shaking the motor
too much.

It's creating air.

She died.

Its engine has stalled,
and they can't run dirt.

That's a violent vibration
going on there.

[Bleep] [bleep]

Narrator: in alaska, dustin's
new cahoon creek wash plant died

Just minutes into running
its first pay dirt.

Dustin: the shaker is
shaking the engine area,

And it makes
the gasoline cavitate

To where there's air
in the gasoline,

And it stalls out.

Narrator: the shaker
is vibrating so violently

That air bubbles are forming
in the fuel --

A process known as "cavitating."

With the air bubbles hit the
carburetor, the engine stalls.

[ Engine shuts off ]

Wes: we've already been
through that [bleep]

We've got to have clean fuel
flowing in there.

Narrator:
help is a day's hike

Or an expensive helicopter ride
away.

Dustin's only option is
to find a solution on-site.

It looks like
there's only a couple bolts

Holding on that tank.

I'd like to make
a separate wooden stand

That comes up right here
somewhere --

Somewhere...

Just to move that
off to the side.

...just take it off
and set it on something

That's not attached to this.
We can do that.

Dustin's plan is to build
a stand

That isolates the fuel tank
from the shaker's engine.

They need wood, but at this
altitude, there are no trees.

We got one pallet left from when
we brought everything up here.

Narrator: if this fix fails,

Dustin will have to head back
down to porcupine for parts,

Losing valuable time
and thousands of dollars.

Dustin, I think we have
our stand built.

All right, man.

Fire it up,
and let's see what you got.

[ Engine sputters ]

[ Engine turns over ]

It's working.

There's no vibration
in the fuel tank whatsoever now.

We have success over here.
Our fuel tank's not moving.

The engine's running good.

Good job, guys.
I knew you could do it.

Well, let's hook our water
back up, get the pump going,

Turn the trommel on,
and run the plant.

Yee-haw!

Up in the klondike,
parker's crew is hauling dirt,

But the cut looks like
it's running out of gold.

At the rate we're going,
we will not make it.

We don't have the ground
that's providing

The amount of gold we need
to reach our goal.

Narrator: parker takes
his grandpa's advice

And heads across the creek
to hunt for richer ground.

This ground we're on isn't
quite doing what we need.

See, the valley comes up
this way,

And then it bends down
and makes a big turn in here.

You know, we're mining up
on the outside of the turn,

But heavy materials deposit
on the inside of the turn.

We're possibly mining
an area that, you know,

Is a lot less rich than
this side of the creek.

We could have the best
wash plant in the world,

But a wash plant doesn't
make gold -- good ground does.

Narrator: when a river bends,

The water flows slower
on the inside bank,

Causing heavy material --
like gold --

To fall and build up
on the bottom.

Parker's existing cut is on
the outside of the indian river.

Richer ground could be just a
stone's throw across the water.

We're not very far away from
where we're sluicing right now,

But, you know,
that small of a distance

Can make a lot of difference
in the gold.

Narrator:
to mine across the creek,

Parker will have to abandon the
ground he's worked all season.

It's a high-risk plan,

And he needs his foreman, gene,
to buy in.

I've been really thinking about
the other side of the creek.

I really think
that we should get over there

And do some prospecting

And, you know, see what's
in this ground here.

You want me to keep pay
to the plant,

I got to try and keep pay
to the plant,

So something's
better than nothing.

Well, I think the gold's
over there.

You want my honest opinion
about it --

I think, you know,
we need to stick over here.

We know what's here,
and it's getting kind of late

To be over there
chasing things around,

Prospecting,
and treasure hunting.

It's just we need to find
some better ground, so...

I think that's
[bleep] fantasyland, parker.

It's getting so late
in the year

To try and go change
and move around, so...

Then, well,
we've got to do something,

And fantasyland might just be
our next cut

Because if there's good gold
over there,

I'm not afraid to move
this whole show over there.

I hope your fantasies
come true then.

[ Engine turns over ]

Narrator: in guyana,
the hoffman crew has just days

To get 30 more diamonds

Or the claim owner will shut
down their jungle operation.

Your options are you quit
or you change with it.

You know,
as frustrating as it is,

It's just what you got to do.

Narrator: dave turin found
promising gravel

In what locals call a "shout".

But he was forced to change
his plan to mine it

Because the ground is
too waterlogged.

Now, he is starting
at the bottom on the hill

And slowly digging upstream
towards the shout.

Turin: the reason
we didn't start at the shout

Is it's almost 20 feet deep,
and it would fill up with water.

Narrator: if they dig this shout
without a drainage system,

The pit will fill with water,
making it unminable.

Dave's plan is to dig
from the bottom of the hill,

Working his way
towards the shout.

As he digs,
the channel he creates

Will allow water to drain away
downstream.

If you start at the upper end,

You end up with a big hole
full of water,

And it's
completely unmanageable.

Narrator: unannounced,

Tony mekdeci's man,
stuart gonsalves, arrives

To make sure the hoffman's
are still on track

To deliver the 30 diamonds
they promised tony.

Yeah. Yeah. I'll take you over
to the trommel.

Over at the trommel,

Dave is running gravel from
the cut downstream of the shout.

Well, that looks like
mekdeci's guy.

He's here to check us out.

I guarantee you if the
gold was in the ground,
we're gonna be catching it.

Want to take a look?
Yeah. Let's go.

I'm really not willing to listen
to those guys

Tell us how we're gonna mine,

So I don't know
what's gonna happen.

This is it right here.

We're almost over here,
working our way through here.

We'll get on it,

And I'll see you
at the clean-up.

Todd: when you're in a position
that I'm in,

You don't make the rules.

It's easy being a leader
when you're successful.

It's very hard when
you're getting your a*s kicked.

Hey, guys.

Turin: hi, todd.
Spinks: hi, todd.

He wants to mine the shout.

He said, "get on it,
and get on it now".

Turin:
we can't get there now.

Skip up there right now?
Yeah.

Waste the whole plan
that we have right now
to go up the creek?

We've got a plan.
We're working up the creek.

We've got to keep letting
the water run downhill,

But there's a certain way that
andy and I got it figured out.

I don't like it any more
than you guys do, okay?

But he says do it,
we've got to do it.

We've got no choice.

Not getting the gold has got us
in a freaking corner.

I'm telling you.
You guys figure it out.

We're gonna go run the shout.
End of story.

I'm done going backwards.

You can't just come in here
and say,

"Go to the shout".
Wait!

Narrator: in alaska,

The dakota boys are
finally mining

Their new cahoon creek claim.

Dustin:
the more bedrock I uncover,

The bigger my chances are
to find gold.

Narrator: dustin now needs
to get to bedrock

To see if he's on the gold.

Dustin:
that's got to be bedrock.

Man, please, be bedrock.

He's hit something hard
on this side.

I don't know if we've hit
bedrock yet or not,

But the gravel has
definitely changed.

The bedrock's at eight foot.

If that's bedrock --
I hope it is --

I want eyes on it.

We've got to get that thing
pumped down

To make sure it's not
just a big rock.

Narrator: dustin can't tell
if he has hit bedrock

Without pumping out the pit.

And his only pump is in use,

Supplying water from the creek
to run the wash plant.

Dustin: I need another pump.

We're gonna move our suction
back over here

To dustin's hole over here

To see if we can't suck
some of that water down,

See if we can't see the bedrock.

Narrator:
dustin decides to pump

The water from the pit
straight into the wash plant.

If it works, he can keep running
dirt without losing time.

Yeah, I like this. We're k*lling
two birds with one stone here.

Yeah, that water's
not that dirty.

No.

Hey, this is kind
of like dredging.

[Bleep]

Narrator: suddenly, there's
a blowout at the wash plant.

Shut it off!

There's only
three spraying!

Oh, it stopped up
everything.

Dustin's plan has backfired.

The dirty pit water has
blocked up the spray bars.

I've plugged up
almost every spray nozzle.

Without clean water,

The plant can't process dirt
or catch gold.

This one's more solid
than the other one.

Oh, good.

Silt and dirt and grass.

Let's run some fresh
water through it and see
if we can open it up.

[ Sighs ]

Dustin moves the pump back
into the creek

To clear the wash plant's
spray bars with clean water.

Hold on. Hold on.

But now the pump won't work.

Dustin:
I don't know what's happening.

I might have k*lled this thing.

What the [bleep] is going on?
Did I k*ll it or what?

If they can't fix it,
they can't mine.

Something's wrong, dude.

[ Grunts ]

I might have put too much mud
through it.

Go ahead and crank her up.
See what the [bleep] happens.

[ Engine turns over ]

Come on, [bleep]
come on.

I k*lled it.

It's not pumping, huh?

Narrator: paul tries to prime
the pump with clean creek water.

Let it pump.

Hold on. Hold on.
Let it pump.

That's it.
We got it.

That's all it took.
[ Engine turns over ]

Heads up! Water!

Now we're getting somewhere.

Okay, we've got clear water
coming out.

Okay, we've got it?
Wes: yeah, they're clear.

All of them?
Yeah.

That is awesome.
Yeah, that worked great.

Beautiful.

Narrator: the pump is fixed.

Clean water is running
through the wash plant.

Dustin and crew are mining
once again.

Dustin: we're on bedrock.
It's eight feet down.

Whether there's gold on it
or not, is to be determined.

Narrator:
at hope creek in guyana,

Dave turin has been forced
to abandon his plan.

Despite the water issues,
he is digging the shout.

As soon as he digs
below the level of the creek,

The shout starts to fill up.

Turin: this is hard --
managing our water.

It's so muddy.

You can't just take your
excavator wherever you want.

I know there's good pay
in there,

So I'm relieving the water.

Narrator: to divert water
away from the shout,

Dave digs a drainage ditch.

This ground is just so slippery.
It's just so unstable.

Narrator: andy and kevin
clear ground

And lay sand to prepare a road
for the rock trucks.

Hiatt:
if we're gonna have any chance

Of getting to that dirt
in the shout,

We're gonna have to sand
all this.

[Bleep]

Narrator: before he can even get
to the shout,

Dave has slipped
into the drainage ditch.

[Bleep]
dang it.

And his 290 excavator is sinking
in the mud.

Get out of here. Let's go.
We've got [bleep] to do.

Narrator: in guyana,

The hoffman crew desperately
needs to find 30 diamonds

Before the claim-owner's man
returns,

But their hope creek operation
is at a standstill

Until they can get dave's

Spinks: what you thinking?
Try to lift it?

We've got to get
the other excavator down here

And dig this [bleep] out.

This track sucked in the mud.

It's just gonna take
a bunch of screwing around.

Turin: we're wasting time.
We're losing time.

Todd's on my a*s.
He's pushing really hard.

I don't know
if I'm gonna get it out or not.

I've never stuck one this bad.

Narrator: dave plans to pull
the excavator out,

But it weighs 65,000 pounds

And has sunk
up to its engine hatch.

Turin:
I got to hook this chain up.

Let me get a little closer
to you

So we've got
a little more pull.

You ready, dave?

Narrator:
if the chain snaps,

It could damage the equipment
beyond repair.

Hey!
Easy! Easy! Easy!

Turin: come on! Come on!
Come on! Come on!

Don't stop now.
Hold up.

We're not going
anywhere.

Narrator:
the jungle mud has formed a seal
around dave's machine.

I'm just stuck in the mud.

The suction is too big,
too great.

I can't believe this
doesn't have enough
power to lift itself.

Let me try something.

Narrator:
mitch has one more idea.

He uses the arm of the 290
as a jack,

Pushing down in an attempt
to break the suction.

We almost got her.
Take another bite.

Take another bite.

Little bit more.

Come on.
Little bit more.

Yeah, you got her
going the right way now.

Whoo! Yeah!

Blaschke:
come on, girl.

Come on.

Come on.

The excavator is safely back
on the bank.

Whoo!
That's what I'm talking about.

Good job, buddy.
That was close.

The hoffman crew can finally
find out

If their shout
holds enough diamonds

To keep their season alive.

We finally made it to the shout.
We're hauling the pay out.

Now it's just a matter to see
what's in the ground.

Hopefully we get a nice pile
of diamonds out of it.

Narrator: north in the klondike,
parker's rolling the dice.

He's going to hunt
for better gold across the creek

With or without his foreman,
gene cheeseman.

Gene and I are kind of split
as far as what to do.

But where we're at
and what we've been doing

Hasn't been getting us
where we need to be.

Let's go!

Greg is still in the cut

Hauling dirt
to feed the wash plant.

Rick, if we had a choice to go
upstream with gene

Or across the river with parker,
where would you go?

Across the river seems
like a lot of work

For not a whole lot
of time.

Hey, welcome to the team,
brother.

Like the rest of the crew,

Gene is convinced parker's
fantasyland is a waste of time.

It's a little bit late
in the season

To be out on a treasure hunt.

I think we just need to keep
working this side of the river

And stay in the reality here
and keep the plant running.

Narrator: there's only one way
to find out who's right.

Parker drives the d10 across
the creek towards fantasyland.

Parker: right now I'm heading
across the river

To go explore some of the ground

That my grandpa and I were
talking about while he was here.

Narrator: he uses
the 170,000-pound dirt mover

To strip back enough trees
and overburden

To see what lies beneath
the surface.

Parker: I mean, I've looked
at a lot of tailings piles,

And this looks
a lot like a tailings pile.

Narrator: tailings are the waste
product of wash plants.

Parker:
see how sandy it looks?

That's how tailings look,
usually.

Narrator: parker's fantasyland
could be mined out.

South at cahoon creek,

Dustin's week-long dig
in the mountains is over.

After running 10 yards
of bedrock dirt,

He's returning to porcupine

With two buckets
of precious concentrate.

The contents will reveal

If the dakota boys' new claim
can make them rich.

Welcome back.

Tallis:
welcome back, guys.

If there is gold
in the cahoon concentrate,

It'll quickly appear
on the finishing table.

Come on, gold.
Show me something.

Make a believer out of me.

Come on.

Are we seeing
anything at all?

Nothing.

I mean, nothing?
What the [bleep]

What the [bleep]
does that mean?

This is insane.

Dustin's back-breaking week
running cahoon dirt

Has produced no gold.

Just feel like
I just had my butt kicked.

Spending all this effort
and time,

And now I feel like...
That was just worthless.

[Bleep]

So much time and effort
and money...

And to come back with nothing.

[ Sniffles ]

Damn.

Right here's our shout.

We're gonna bring another
excavator in and start digging.

Blaschke: dave!
What's up?

There's a snake eating something
right here.

He looks pretty mean.

Look at him.
He's got a frog in his mouth.

There's the frog's legs.

And the frog, I think,
is just about done.

He's having frog
for breakfast.

Narrator: in the klondike,

Parker has taken
his grandpa's advice

And is prospecting
across the creek.

So far, he's only found a pile
of tailings.

Parker: this ground I want to
mine has been mined before.

Narrator: parker's not ready
to give up on fantasyland.

Parker: wherever
those deciduous trees are

Is where they pushed overburden
up out of the cuts.

So, like,
this cut they did here --

They pushed it uphill
over there.

Narrator:
he has one more theory to test.

Parker:
this is what I was looking for.

[ Grunts ]

This area where they pushed up
all the overburden,

They didn't mine under it.

They just pushed it up
onto virgin ground,

And that's the virgin ground
I want to mine.

Narrator: parker's hoping

That the miner's who made
the first cuts

On this side of the valley
pushed overburden

And dumped tailings
on top of virgin ground.

If parker's right,
then underneath this waste dirt,

There could still be
gold-rich virgin pay.

Parker:
we can't let this stop us.

I mean, the gold's here.
We just got to get it.

Narrator: parker digs down
beneath the tailings.

I'm gonna grab a pan
and do a test here

And see what it looks like.

Narrator: with his existing cut
not producing gold,

Parker's chance of hitting

[ Chuckles ]

Oh, god.

That flake in here is probably
the biggest one I've panned out.

I don't know
exactly what that means, but...

...could be
pretty game-changing.

I mean, this is promising,
though.

It's not too often
that you can come over

Into a completely new area
and, within two hours, have,

You know, a bunch of gold
in your pan.

Narrator:
fantasyland is so rich...

Parker:
nice little flake popped out.

That's never happened to me
before.

Narrator: ...parker can pull
gold right out of the ground.

Parker: all right, gene,
have fun mining with the crew.

I'm picking gold.

Narrator: south in guyana,

It's judgment day
for the hoffman crew.

To keep their claim,
they need 30 diamonds

When stuart,
the claim-owner's man, returns.

It might be just the dirt
we need

To secure our future down here
in south america.

Narrator: their only hope

Is what the local's call
a "shout" --

A pit of river gravel

That could hold
millions of dollars in diamonds.

Turin: I'm seeing good gravel
out of this shout.

Now, is it enough?
I don't know.

Are we gonna be successful?
I don't know.

So that's it.

That's the last of the dirt
from the shout.

Narrator: todd calls his entire
crew to the gold room.

Let's make sure we run
everything nice and slow.

Let's catch every diamond
we can, huh?

Okay.
Okay.

And we're gonna try to,
obviously,

Do everything we can
to stay in the game.

Narrator:
they run the concentrate

From both the trommel and
the lavador through their jigs.

Let's hope and pray,
thurb.

Oh, I'm praying,
and I'm hoping.

One good diamond

Can take care of a whole season
of gold mining.

Narrator: the last stage of
the clean-up is grading by hand.

They need at least 30 diamonds
out of this gravel and sand

Or they're going home.

Todd:
how are we doing, boys?

Uh.

You see that one, right?
Yep.

That's a freaking diamond,
right?

You got it?
Yeah, it is one.

Todd:
well, we're finding them.

Narrator:
the miners are on a roll,

Just as stuart,
the claim-owner's man, arrives.

As of right now, we're at --
we've got 28 diamonds.

We're not setting any records.
We know that.

I think it's just
a matter of time.

We're gonna hit something,
and we're gonna hit
something pretty big.

We want to put
everything we've got into it.

We want to keep going.

We don't want to leave here
like this.

Awesome.
Right on.

Good.
All right.

Todd:
now we're still in the game.

We're not setting records,
but we are moving forward.

We still have a chance to make
our money.

Yeah, we can make millions.
