TEXT: Episode

KAGAMI: How...

CRKuro: ,How did this happen?

KAGAMI: Please, somebody...

KAGAMI: Somebody answer me!

Earlier,TEXT: Hours Earlier

RIKO: Okay. Everyone's ready, right?

RIKO: Let's go.

HYUGA: Crap.

HYUGA: I can't believe I fell asleep in a locker room in the middle of winter.

IZUKI: Winter can be so uncool.

HYUGA: You're the one who's uncool.

KIYOSHI: We'd better make sure we don't catch colds.

KOGANEI: Hold on, aren't you forgetting something important?

KIYOSHI: What?

KOGANEI: Let's celebrate our victory!

HYUGA: We can't do that!

KOGANEI: What?

HYUGA: Our second game is the day after tomorrow!

HYUGA: From the third game on, we've got matches every day!

HYUGA: Even if we win, there's no time to celebrate!

RIKO: That sounds like a good idea.

RIKO: Let's go get dinner together.

ALL: What?

RIKO: Your recovery is important, too.

RIKO: For that, you need to eat properly and get plenty of sleep.

KIYOSHI: Either way, we intended to research our next opponent.

HYUGA: Where, though? Eating out is expensive.

RIKO: My place is so far.

KAGAMI: Excuse me...

KAGAMI: My place is actually nearby.

HYUGA: What?

KOGANEI: It's...

KOGANEI: It's huge!

KAGAMI: Come on in.

TSUCHIDA: Kagami, do you live here by yourself?

KAGAMI: I was supposed to live here with my dad.

KUROKO: Kagami-kun, you're a despicable guy after all.

KUROKO: I'm not going to be your shadow anymore.

KUROKO: Why would you say that?!

HYUGA: The decor's simple, though.

IZUKI: Minimal furniture, a basketball, and magazines.

HYUGA: You really only think about eating, sleeping, and basketball.

KIYOSHI: Huh? Where's Riko?

FUKUDA: She headed to the kitchen with our ingredients.

HYUGA: You can't be serious!

IZUKI: Did you already forget what happened this summer?!

HYUGA: We're not going to recover, we're going to die!

RIKO: It's ready!

RIKO: Highly nutritious.

RIKO: It's my special hot pot.

ALL: It's ready...

ALL: It looks normal?

RIKO: What's wrong with you guys?!

RIKO: Can't you say it looks good or something?!

IZUKI: Sorry, I'm just so surprised.

IZUKI: Well, thanks for the...

HYUGA: Wait!

HYUGA: Kuroko-kun, you try a bite first.

KUROKO: The way you're talking is really shady.

KUROKO: In that case...

KUROKO: Thanks for the food, then.

KUROKO: Huh?

KOGANEI: Why is there banana in there?

RIKO: It was in the plastic bag.

HYUGA: Those were for dessert!

HYUGA: You put them in whole, too!

RIKO: But bananas... Yummy...

IZUKI: Why are you speaking like that?!

RIKO: Sorry, sorry.

HYUGA: When did you start acting like that?!

KIYOSHI: Don't worry about it, Hyuga.

KIYOSHI: The rest seems to be normal.

CRKuro: ,You can just eat around the bananas.

KOGANEI: Why are there strawberries in here?

RIKO: Because they were in the bag.

HYUGA: I told you, those were for dessert!

RIKO: Take vitamins...

IZUKI: You're giving us orders in broken Japanese now?!

KUROKO: Wait a minute.

KUROKO: This might actually be good.

ALL: He's eating it?!

KIYOSHI: It's not bad.

ALL: Seriously?!

KOGANEI: Huh?

KOGANEI: The fruitiness kinda works.

IZUKI: This really isn't too bad.

HYUGA: Th-Then...

RIKO: Ahem!

HYUGA: It's good.

FUKUDA: Tangerines!

KAWAHARA: P-Peaches?!

FURIHATA: Cherries?!

KUROKO: Hello.

KAGAMI: H-How long have you been there?!

KUROKO: A while.

KAGAMI: Damn it. I haven't felt that in a while.

KUROKO: Kagami-kun.

KAGAMI: What?

KUROKO: Thank you for today.

KAGAMI: What?! Where did that come from?

KUROKO: I don't know.

KUROKO: After the game ended and eating with the guys...

KUROKO: The thought just came into my head.

KUROKO: I'm really glad I met you, Kagami-kun.

KAGAMI: Sheesh!

KAGAMI: You're always saying such embarrassing things.

KUROKO: You think so?

KAGAMI: Besides, you can't be so carefree forever.

KAGAMI: The Winter Cup is only just starting,

KAGAMI: but we've already shown everyone almost all our cards.

KAGAMI: Our future battles will only be more difficult.

KUROKO: In that case,

KUROKO: we'll have to become stronger.

KAGAMI: Yeah.

KAGAMI: You're right.

KAGAMI: Kuroko?!

KAGAMI: What's wrong? Hey!

KAGAMI: Guys...

KAGAMI: No...

KAGAMI: What's going on?!

KAGAMI: Could it be?

KAGAMI: Is that even possible?

KAGAMI: It's like they've fallen victim to a slow-acting poison.

KAGAMI: Did the foulness of the hot pot have a delayed effect?!

Death: ,Death

KAGAMI: How did she make this with only vegetables and fruits?

KAGAMI: Seriously?

KAGAMI: Why did she put supplements in there?

HYUGA: Go to sleep as soon as you get home.

IZUKI: I thought I was going to die.

KOGANEI: Kagami, let me use your bathroom.

KAGAMI: It's out the door and to the right.

KOGANEI: Whoops, wrong room.

HYUGA: Koga?

KAGAMI: You...

ALL: Who the hell are you?!

RIKO: Alex? Isn't that...

RIKO: You're training in America until right before the Winter Cup?!

KAGAMI: I have a master who taught me to play basketball.

KAGAMI: Their name is Alex.

ALL: That's Kagami's master?!

ALEX: Japanese is fine, then.

ALEX: I majored in it at college, and Taiga taught some to me, too.

IZUKI: It's her.

IZUKI: Alexandra Garcia.

IZUKI: She was a college state champion.

IZUKI: She later played in the WNBA.

KAWAHARA: The WNBA? She's a pro?

FUKUDA: Seriously?

ALEX: I already retired, though.

ALEX: My eyesight was ruined by an illness.

ALEX: Now I just coach a little club team.

RIKO: What are you doing in Japan, though?

KAGAMI: Coach, don't get so close!

RIKO: What?

ALEX: Japanese girls are so cute.

RIKO: What?!

KAGAMI: She's got a kissing bug!

KAGAMI: I told you.

KAGAMI: Don't do that to everyone!

ALEX: What are you talking about?!

ALEX: I only kiss girls and children!

KAGAMI: I'm not asking about your kissing policy!

KUROKO: So, why did you come to Japan?

ALEX: Huh? Oh...

ALEX: How long have you been sitting there?!

KUROKO: I was here all along.

ALEX: Seriously?

ALEX: Oh, you're that guy Taiga mentioned.

ALEX: I see.

ALEX: Taiga and Tatsuya.

ALEX: I came to see my two apprentices play basketball.

IZUKI: By Tatsuya, do you mean...

KAWAHARA: That guy from Yosen you met at the street ball tournament?

FURIHATA: Did he learn to play basketball from you, too?

ALEX: After I retired, I couldn't accept my reality and was acting out.

ALEX: I played on street courts to vent my frustration.

ALEX: One day

ALEX: this guy and Tatsuya asked me to take them on as apprentices out of nowhere.

ALEX: As first, I was reluctant.

ALEX: But...

ALEX: Before I knew it,

ALEX: I was playing basketball with a smile.

ALEX: Those two have grown up and are facing each other again here in Japan.

ALEX: Of course I'm curious.

HYUGA: Actually, we don't know that they'll face each other yet.

TSUCHIDA: On top of that, we don't have a game tomorrow, so we're just watching.

ALEX: Really?

ALEX: I'll go with you, then! Take me with you!

ALEX: Hey, not bad.

ALEX: Honestly, I wasn't expecting much from Japanese basketball.

ALEX: I'd better apologize for that one.

ALEX: They're lacking in size and power,

CRKuro: ,but their speed and strategies are impressive.

ALEX: Furthermore, every player is excellent, too.

ALEX: Especially that No. guy who just came onto the court.

IZUKI: They made it to the top four in the Inter-High last year.

IZUKI: That's Kobayashi Keisuke of Onita High.

HYUGA: At centimeters, he's an unusually tall point guard for Japan.

HYUGA: He's an all-rounder who can pass and score.

HYUGA: He's one of the best players in the country.

ALEX: He's got something special.

ALEX: He's pretty good.

KAGAMI: But...

KAGAMI: His opponent today is...

ScoreboardL,SCORE: Shutoku

ScoreboardR,SCORE: Onita

HYUGA: I can never get used to seeing the Generation of Miracles play.

HYUGA: Honestly, it's depressing.

KIYOSHI: Every school was chosen from its prefecture for its strength.

KIYOSHI: None of them are weak.

KIYOSHI: However, teams with members from the Generation of Miracles are exceptional.

KIYOSHI: They make veterans indistinguishable from ordinary players.

RIKO: We know that.

RIKO: Besides, the most important thing is our next game.

RIKO: Let's head home and review the data on Nakamiya South.

ALL: Yeah!

ALEX: About that...

KAGAMI: Hey!

ALEX: Sorry, but could I borrow this guy for a while?

HYUGA: What?

ALEX: I'll make sure he's back in time for your next game.

ALEX: Please.

KAGAMI: What was that about, Alex?

ALEX: The Generation of Miracles you mentioned...

ALEX: I didn't expect them to be that good.

ALEX: They're monsters.

ALEX: Since you've beaten one, as long as you don't

CRKuro: ,underestimate your opponents, you should easily win your second and third games.

ALEX: However, it's unfortunate you'll have to face Yosen after that.

ALEX: Not only do they have one monster,

CRKuro: ,but after you returned to Japan,

CRKuro: ,Tatsuya polished his street ball skills under my tutelage.

ALEX: You could say he's on par with one of those monsters now.

ALEX: As a result of his training,

CRKuro: ,your matchup with Tatsuya couldn't be worse.

ALEX: I wasn't going to say anything, but it's not quite fair.

ALEX: I don't know how much you can do in a couple of days,

CRKuro: ,but there's something I haven't taught you yet.

TSUCHIDA: Huh? Where's Kuroko?

KOGANEI: Now that you mention it...

KUROKO: Hello.

AOMINE: Don't give me that.

AOMINE: Why'd you suddenly call me out here, Tetsu?

KUROKO: Let me be direct.

KUROKO: Aomine-kun...

KUROKO: Teach me to sh**t.

AOMINE: What?

IZUKI: He went to have Aomine teach him to sh**t?

KUROKO: As far as I know, he's the best.

TSUCHIDA: As far as he knows?

TSUCHIDA: It's plain to see he is, but...

TSUCHIDA: Is he going to be okay?

HYUGA: Even if he does teach him, can he really

CRKuro: ,learn anything in a couple of days?

RIKO: It's not a couple of days.

RIKO: He's been practicing his sh**ting with my dad coaching him

CRKuro: ,since after the preliminaries.

KAGETORA: I told him about the wall he's likely to hit soon.

RIKO: He must have been referring to his sh**ting.

KIYOSHI: If he doesn't learn to sh**t,

CRKuro: ,his Vanishing Drive will eventually lose its usefulness.

KOGANEI: What? Why?

KIYOSHI: Actually, if you think about it, it's pretty obvious. {did you just call Catface stupid?}

KIYOSHI: After Kuroko penetrates the defense with his drive,

CRKuro: ,someone comes to stop him, creating an opening for a pass.

KIYOSHI: That's how it's worked until now.

KIYOSHI: However, if no one comes to stop him,

CRKuro: ,Kuroko has to make the shot himself.

KIYOSHI: In other words, breaking through with a drive

CRKuro: ,becomes truly threatening when you can make the shot yourself.

RIKO: Against Shutoku and Kirisaki, we only used it a few times, so it worked.

RIKO: Against Touou, Aomine-kun defeated the drive itself.

RIKO: However, if anyone should discover Kuroko-kun's awful sh**ting percentage,

CRKuro: ,our opponents would do what Teppei just said.

RIKO: On top of that, his Overflow is our trump card.

RIKO: It won't work twice against the same opponent,

CRKuro: ,and it loses its effectiveness against teams who have seen it.

RIKO: If we use it too much, we'll be digging our own graves.

RIKO: Things have gotten out of order, but either way,

CRKuro: ,Kuroko-kun needs to improve his sh**ting for future battles.

KUROKO: How was that?

AOMINE: You can't be serious!

AOMINE: What am I supposed to feel after you

CRKuro: ,drag me out here to show off your crappy sh**ting?!

AOMINE: I never said I'd teach you to sh**t!

KUROKO: Why not?

AOMINE: There's something wrong with someone who beats a guy

CRKuro: ,and makes him teach him how to sh**t the next day!

AOMINE: I haven't slept since then.

KUROKO: What?

AOMINE: I went home, ate, took a bath,

AOMINE: then I went to lie down.

AOMINE: But I couldn't sleep.

AOMINE: My body was exhausted,

CRKuro: ,but when I closed my eyes, I saw scenes from the game.

AOMINE: I had forgotten how that felt.

AOMINE: My chest feels tight, I feel nauseous like I'm going to puke,

CRKuro: ,and my head is pounding.

AOMINE: Since I forgot about it, I kind of missed it,

CRKuro: ,but now that I've experienced it again, I don't miss it at all.

AOMINE: It still just sucks.

AOMINE: It was an awful night.

AOMINE: But

AOMINE: that's why I want to play basketball again so soon.

KUROKO: Aomine-kun...

AOMINE: Oh, man.

AOMINE: Talking about it made me want to play.

AOMINE: I can't help myself, so I'll play with you.

AOMINE: I'm saying I'll teach you to sh**t.

AOMINE: What are you smiling about?

KUROKO: We used to practice like this a lot in middle school.

AOMINE: Just hurry up and sh**t!

AOMINE: You said you don't have much time!

KAGAMI: I still feel a little tired.

KAGAMI: I was up late training with Alex.

KAGAMI: But in order keep winning, I need to become stronger.

KAGAMI: I have to do it.

ALEX: Morning. Did you sleep well?

KAGAMI: I told you to put on some clothes!

ALEX: Yeah, but don't throw clothes at me!

KAGAMI: Sheesh...

ALEX: I guess we trained a little hard between his games.

ALEX: Our time is limited, though.

ALEX: How much he'll learn depends not on Taiga's stamina,

CRKuro: ,but on his mental strength.

RIKO: The third day of the Winter Cup.

RIKO: Over the first and second days, every first-round game was completed.

RIKO: The participating schools were reduced by nearly half, to .

HYUGA: Let's go!

ALL: Yeah!

RIKO: The second round of games.

RIKO: Along with seeded schools, the remaining schools gather on the court.

RIKO: On this day, in games, all the teams will clash.

RIKO: Our opponent's strength is a slow-half court game.

RIKO: It's not a good matchup for a fast-paced team like ours,

CRKuro: ,so we'll change our starting lineup and see how things go.

RIKO: Hyuga-kun!

RIKO: Izuki-kun!

RIKO: Teppei!

RIKO: Mitobe-kun!

RIKO: Tsuchida-kun!

RIKO: These five will be our starters!

KAGAMI: I'm not worried.

IMAYOSHI: Seirin, huh?

IMAYOSHI: Well, they probably won't hit their stride.

SUSA: What do you mean?

IMAYOSHI: If they let it get to their heads, it's over.

IMAYOSHI: If they let their guard down, they'll lose.
