09x24 - Mother Knows Best

Post by bunniefuu »

You know where Olivia and Harold are?

I told him to stop seeing her.

Well, you did a swell job of telling him.

They've eloped.

-Do you think I have a problem? -I don't know. You tell me.

You're the one who's been sitting around here all day

drinking, alone.

I don't want to drink alone, Gary.

I'm not going to tell my uncle you found me, are you?

A wedding ring is not going to be very comfortable

if your uncle has all your fingers broke.

We're getting married.

I promise you, next time it'll be strictly business.

[dramatic music]

[theme music]

[mysterious music]

Do you know where Olivia and Harold are?

I told him to stop seeing her.

Well, you did a swell job of telling him.

-They've eloped. -What?

Oh, Abby.

My housekeeper found a note from Olivia

saying that she and Harold had run off to get married.

We've got to stop them.

We don't even know where they are.

-At least I don't. -I'll find out.

[sighing] She's only 17.

[Paige] Mmm, I forgot how great a vacation could be.

[Johnny] It all depends on where you are,

who you're with, and what you're doing.

I like where I am,

and I love what we're doing...

and I couldn't imagine being here with anyone else.

Nobody?

-Not even the old man? -Oh, who's he?

[romantic music]

[phone ringing]

-Hello. -Where's Harold?

Um, he's not in his room?

If he were, would I be calling you?

Well, uh,

he must be down at the beach or out shopping or something.

-Are they married yet? -Married?

Would you like me to find out?

Find him and get him on the phone to me.

-Yes, sir. -Now, understand?

Yes, sir.

[Manny] Of all the stupid things to do,

if he marries that kid, it'll be the sorriest day of his life.

Make sure he understands that.

[Paige] Who was that?

Harold's uncle.

He found out about the wedding, and he's not too pleased.

I have to go out and find Harold.

-Right now? -Right now.

Will you do me the favor of sitting downstairs at the bar?

You can see who comes in and out of the hotel from there.

If Harold and Livvy come back before I find them,

tell them to stay there until I get back, okay?

[scoffs] Great, just how I like to spend my vacation.

In a bar, by myself.

Ah.

I'll make it up to you tonight.

I promise.

Oh, come on, give me a kiss.

[sighs]

[guitar music]

[Olivia chuckling]

Can you catch one?

-[Olivia] Wait, no, I'm sorry. -Oh.

Look.

What do you think?

-Try it on. -Yeah?

[instrumental music]

[whistling] You look beautiful. I love it.

[Olivia chuckling]

Senora?

Uh, h-how much?

[speaking in Spanish]

-Pesos? -Dollars.

Aren't you supposed to bargain with her?

I wouldn't be any good. I'm too much in love.

[instrumental music]

[both speaking Spanish]

[phone ringing]

Hello.

[sighing] No, I haven't heard anything yet.

Sure, I will.

Bye.

[sighing]

[indistinct chatter]

[Johnny speaking Spanish]

[woman speaking Spanish]

[Johnny chuckles]

[both speaking Spanish]

[woman on PA] Now boarding rows 29-40 at Gate 83.

[woman on PA] We'd like to continue our boarding of Flight 63,

service to Honduras,

by boarding rows 17 through 28.

To help speed up the boarding process,

we ask that you have your passport and ticket...

Excuse me, sir.

Are you on this flight to Honduras?

-Yes, are you traveling there? -Uh, no, I'm not.

It's very important

that I get this letter mailed from Honduras.

It's kind of difficult to explain why,

but if I were to give you $20,

do you think you could get a postage stamp

and mail it for me?

Yes, I would be happy to mail your letter.

It isn't necessary to pay me for the honor

of being trusted to do this important task.

-Such a lovely lady. -Well, thank you.

I can't tell you how much it means to me.

-Have a safe flight. -Thank you.

[woman on PA] Thank you, and have a nice day.

-[Bobby] Gary, Gary! -Hiya!

Say, alright, so what's it gonna be, park or zoo?

-[both] Park. -Park?

-You sure? -[Betsy] Yeah.

-Okay. -[Valene] Okay, but it's cold,

so you're gonna need your jacket, so run upstairs and get them.

Come on.

Can you have them back by 5:30 dinner time?

Sure.

Any more news about Ben?

Uh, not yet.

Come on, don't do that look.

I know that look.

[chuckles] Your worry lines are showing.

[sighing] This is not that look. You don't know this look.

It's alright, Gary. I understand.

There's nothing to understand.

Look, I want you to know that when Ben gets back,

I'm gonna tell him how wonderful you've been with the kids

and how you've stood by them, and no matter what happens,

-you're still gonna be able to see them. -Whatever happens will happen

when he gets back, and I'll deal with it then.

Until then,

I want to spend as much time as I can with these kids.

[Valene] Okay, put the sweater on.

-[Gary] Come on. -[Valene] Alright.

-[Gary] Out you go. -[Valene] Alright.

Oh, yeah, good, on your head, that's good.

[kids giggling]

[Valene] See you later! Bye-bye.

[upbeat music]

Have you seen them? Did they get back yet?

Not unless they went up the fire escape.

Oh, terrific. I've looked everywhere.

See what I mean? A great vacation.

-I'm sorry. Johnny Rourke. -Debbie Stevens.

Hi.

She's working on an archaeological dig in the area.

The three of us should go out there.

They're shut down today, and we could have a look around.

Great idea, but I can't. I have to wait for Harold.

It's been three hours.

Um, it's just as well, I have some things to do.

-It was nice meeting you. -Oh, thanks for the company.

-Sure. Bye-bye. -[Johnny] Bye.

It's so nice to have someone to talk to.

I'm sorry.

Look, if you want to go out sightseeing

or shopping by yourself, go ahead.

But I can't leave until... Ah, hey, guys!

Let's hope they didn't do anything stupid.

I wouldn't count on it.

We've been looking everywhere for you.

-Well, he has, anyway. -Yeah.

We were afraid you went off and got married without us.

No, but, uh, all the arrangements have been made.

The wedding's at 4:00.

[chuckles] Well, that's-- that's great.

It-it calls for a toast. Let's go get some champagne.

[instrumental music]

Bottle of champagne, four glasses, please.

You're in a world of trouble, friend.

Your uncle called, and he's steamed.

That's why I've been looking for you.

-Manny? -Yeah.

You can forget about the wedding.

There's no way he's gonna let it happen.

He wants you to call him right now.

As far as my uncle's concerned, you didn't find me.

-I didn't get the message. -Look, friend...

I don't want to get in trouble with your uncle.

I'm not gonna tell my uncle you found me, are you?

A wedding ring is not gonna be very comfortable

if your uncle has all your fingers broke.

We're getting married.

Stupid kid.

Come in.

I thought you could use some tea.

Thanks.

I talked to Mack.

They could be anywhere.

But he thinks the most likely place would be Las Vegas.

He's making some phone calls.

And, uh...

have you called any of Olivia's friends?

No one has any idea.

[Harold speaking Spanish]

[grunts] What does this say, honey?

Well, I think they want my mother's name.

-Yeah, her maiden name. -Abby Fairgate.

This is tough. Huh.

Uh, I, uh--

You keep going, okay?

I'm gonna find the little boy's room, alright?

-Okay. -Okay.

[bell ringing]

What are you doing here?

It was 20 centavos, kid.

Call your uncle.

Now.

[Harold] Please, please don't ask me to do this.

I'm not asking you, I'm telling you.

But I love her.

Let me make something clear to you.

You know why Arnie is down there?

To make sure I come back.

[Manny] To make sure Olivia comes back.

You can rot down there.

And when Arnie comes back,

she's either single or a widow.

Alright.

And don't use me as an excuse.

What is that supposed to mean?

If you tell her I stopped the wedding,

she's gonna make my life hell

trying to get back together with you.

Oh, so what am I supposed to tell her?

I don't care what you tell her.

Tell her you don't love her.

Tell her that you got a wife and kids in New Jersey.

Tell her you like guys.

Just end it. Understand?

Yes.

[somber music]

It's all finished. All we have to do is sign it.

-You know what is so funny? -What?

I wanted to take French in school,

but it was my mother who talked me into taking Spanish.

Let's, uh, take a walk.

Hmm?

[Harold] This is such a big step.

[Olivia] I know.

[Harold] There's a lot of things we haven't considered yet.

Like, where are we gonna live?

[Olivia] Harold, I don't care where we live.

I don't think we should go through with this.

What?

But I thought you said you loved me.

I know. I do.

But not as much as I thought, I guess.

Just an hour ago, you said

that this is the happiest day of your life.

What happened?

Nothing happened. I've just been thinking.

About what?

I can't believe this is happening.

Everything was so wonderful.

It's not wonderful.

We shouldn't be doing it like this, running away and all.

So you-so you don't want to get married in Mexico?

No.

Do you want to get married?

No, I don't.

[Olivia sighing]

[Olivia grunts]

Hmm. Don't tell me.

Let me guess. I know the face.

Gary Ewing.

-I'm sorry I'm late, but-- -I was out with the twins.

Gee, what a surprise.

You hungry? You had dinner?

I mean, you didn't have pizza with the kids?

-No. -Oh.

You know, I was wondering.

Now, you like pepperoni.

And Bobby likes mushrooms.

And Betsy likes olives.

And old Val just loves those green peppers.

I wonder what Ben takes on his pizza.

Gary, when Ben comes back,

are you gonna have to order the deluxe?

I don't know.

You don't think that things are going to stay

the way they are, do you?

I mean,

I thought that when you found out that Ben was coming back,

you would taper off your visits.

But now you're there night and day.

Val's having a hard time.

Oh, Gary, Val is always having a hard time.

She was born having a hard time.

First of all, you told me that she needed you

to be with her because her husband left her.

And now you tell me she needs you to be with her

because her husband's coming back.

Come on.

You know, you seem to think

this has something to do with my ex-wife.

It has nothing to do with her.

It has everything to do with my children.

And you see, I think that you have a problem

separating Val and the kids.

Uh-huh.

How much have you had tonight?

-Not enough. -Fine.

But don't blame me for your drinking.

That's what somebody does who has a problem with alcohol.

Do you think I have a problem?

I don't know. You tell me.

You're the one who's been sitting around here all day

drinking, alone.

I don't want to drink alone.

Here.

Let's do something together.

We don't do anything together anymore.

That's an incredibly sick, stupid way

of trying to get my attention.

What do you want, Gary?

Do you want somebody like Val, with lots of problems?

I've got plenty.

Do you want someone who can fall apart?

I can go to pieces with the best of them.

I'm sorry if I've been neglecting you.

But how you decide to live your life is up to you.

It's your choice.

[tense music]

[car approaching]

Honey.

Honey, I know how awful you must feel.

[Olivia sobbing]

-I'm so sorry. -It's alright.

It's okay. I'm just so glad you're home.

What is wrong with me?

What do you mean what's...

Nothing is wrong with you.

He said he loved me.

But then he didn't marry me.

You probably just misjudged him.

No.

I know, I know that he loves me.

It must be something that I did.

I must have done something wrong.

Honey.

I'm sure it's nothing you did.

Sometimes people just...

aren't what they seem at first.

That's why you have to get to know someone

really well before you marry them.

This is different.

Everything was so perfect.

And then he started all of a sudden acting strangely.

Something happened.

I know something happened.

I've got to find out what.

-I do. -[Abby] Shh.

[Olivia sobbing]

[Mack] Now, come on out of there, pal.

Come on. Whoa! Whoa!

[laughing] Perfect. Did you see that?

Can I cook or what?

-Morning. Ooh. -Morning.

Morning.

Morning.

What's the occasion?

Does there need to be an occasion?

They look beautiful.

Well, they taste better than they look.

-And that's the second course. -Mmm, I wish I could stay.

What?

I have a breakfast meeting, didn't I tell you?

No, you think I made all this stuff for Meg?

I'm so sorry, honey.

I was so distracted yesterday

with what was going on with Olivia,

I forgot to tell you.

With whom were you having a meeting?

-Manny Vasquez. -Ah, the Latin lover.

This is a business meeting, not a rendezvous.

And I'm late.

Who gets romantic at breakfast anyway?

I do.

-[Karen] Cream or sugar? -Oh, black is fine.

I hope family matters have settled down

since your niece's return.

Yes, they have.

Thank you so much for finding them.

How did you ever talk them out of it?

Oh, he's a good kid, really, just impulsive.

He makes me so crazy.

[chuckling] I know what you mean.

My mother used to say,

"It's alright to hate your brother

from time to time,

as long as you love him with all your heart."

[both chuckle]

And after Sid died, I felt I-I couldn't go on.

I had three kids.

I-I was all alone.

Along came this smiling Irishman,

who made terrific blueberry pancakes.

Food.

The universal remedy for heartache.

Then I said to myself, "You're too old for this."

[Manny] Hardly.

[sighs] Well, babies are a lot of work.

But, oh... [laughs]

She is just...

she's beautiful.

And I do love her.

I love her as if she were my own.

I can see that.

I'm so easy to read.

That's what makes you so lovely.

Oh.

My goodness, it's so late.

I-I've just been talking so much,

we haven't said a word about the marina.

Uh...

and I have another meeting.

Oh, I-I really feel stupid.

You shouldn't.

This was more fun.

Well, I promise you,

next time it'll be strictly business.

Not too strictly.

[knocking on door]

Olivia, you awake?

Honey...

you don't have to go to school today.

You can just kind of take it easy.

Okay?

You want anything else?

No, thanks.

Um...

Olivia, when you were in Mexico, uh...

where did you spend the night?

In a hotel.

There's only one in Santa Tecla.

Did you have a room together?

Of course we were together.

[sighs] I see.

We didn't sleep together,

if that's what you're worried about.

But it wasn't by my choice.

Harold wanted to wait until we were married.

[scoffs] Yeah.

But now I never will get married.

Oh, honey.

I know it hurts now, but you will get over it.

Sure.

When I'm dead.

[Johnny] Oh, what'll it be today?

Snorkeling, windsurfing, exploring,

or just lying around on the beach?

[Paige] Yes, yes, yes, and yes.

[Johnny] That's a pretty full day.

[Paige] Oh, making up for lost time.

[Johnny] Well, your wish is my command.

And to let you know

my heart is in the right place...

What is this?

The idea is you open it up and find out.

[gentle music]

Where did you get this?

From a guy I bumped into down on the street.

He said it was pre-Columbian.

How much did you pay for this?

You're not supposed to ask.

Do you have any idea how much this is worth,

if it's really pre-Columbian?

More than $10?

[chuckles] It can't be real.

[Debbie] Looks real to me.

[Paige] Are you sure?

Well, I can't be 100% without tests.

You'd be amazed at how well the locals can fake these things.

It sure looks authentic.

Well, why would he sell it to me so cheaply?

$10 is a lot here.

Ah, we're going to make a fortune.

[Debbie] Hardly.

This is a national treasure.

There are Mexican laws and international laws

against removing it from the country.

I would like to talk to the fellow you bought this from,

to find out if it actually came from this area.

-Does it make a difference? -Are you kidding?

We've been busting our butts out at the dig,

trying to prove there was a pre-Columbian settlement

around here, and we haven't found zip.

Well, what makes you think there was one

in the first place?

I'm going by the diary

of a 17th-century Jesuit missionary

who said he unearthed Mayan pots around here.

Well, how long do you think it would take

to find out if this piece is authentic?

[Debbie] I don't know.

I don't even know if it would do any good.

The problem for us is,

we're running out of time and money.

I may be able to help.

[scoffs] How can you help?

You flew all the way up here to tell me

about a bunch of second-hand pots that nobody can find,

and on whose credit card?

Yours. You never would have bought

this story over the phone.

Who says I'm buying it now?

I'm not in the good Samaritan business, you know.

Why should I fund this dig?

There's no guarantees that we can get any pots

out of the country once we find them.

But that's what's so perfect about the deal.

-You can. -I can?

Look, there's a highway coming through the excavation site.

Now, if the road isn't stopped,

the whole place will be plowed under,

and nothing will ever be found.

Are you telling me that we can get this stuff

out of the country?

Well, we can negotiate.

They don't want to lose these things any more than we do.

But you need money for the dig.

For the dig and for whoever I need to talk to

to get the highway crew to slow down.

[doorbell ringing]

Well, I won't be the last one

to tell the shark who to bite,

but I'd be very careful

of who I gave any money to down there.

I didn't know you cared.

Of course I care. It's my money.

Am I early?

Actually, you're right on time.

I was just finishing a meeting

with my ambassador from Santa Tecla.

Santa Tecla?

Were you in Santa Tecla?

-Yes. -With Olivia?

No, I was with Johnny. Harold was with Olivia.

But you knew she was getting married.

Everyone seems to know she was getting married.

Nobody bothered to tell me.

I'm not her keeper.

[scoffs]

Besides, I know what it's like to have an overbearing mother.

I got away from mine. Olivia hasn't been as lucky.

Harold.

What are you doing here?

I don't want anyone to see.

Why haven't you called me back?

It's not a good idea.

I don't believe that you don't love me.

Something happened down there.

Why won't you tell me?

Nothing I could say could change anything.

Is it me?

Did I do something?

No, of course not.

Oh, God, I've missed you so much.

Then why are you doing this?

-I mean, really, why? -It's my uncle.

So it's your uncle that doesn't want you to marry me?

So what?

He does not own you.

Maybe I can talk to him.

You know, maybe I can convince him.

No! No. Don't even think about it.

He's a very dangerous person. He could do anything.

There's got to be something that we can do.

Not as long as he's opposed to the wedding.

-[Olivia] Mom. -[Abby] Mm?

I know that it was wrong for us to run off like we did.

I know you were worried.

[scoffs]

I'm sorry, I apologize.

Apology accepted.

[gentle string music]

[sighing] Mom, but it just doesn't seem fair

that I can't see Harold at all.

Well, I thought Harold didn't want to see you.

It's not Harold, it's his uncle.

His uncle's the one that broke off our marriage.

How do you know that?

I just know.

You saw Harold, didn't you?

[sighs] We just talked.

Well, how do you know that Harold is telling you the truth?

[Olivia sighs]

Mother.

Look, I happen to think

that Harold's uncle did the right thing.

And you are too young to be married.

I have heard that a thousand times,

in the movies and on television.

Why am I too young?

When do I magically become old enough?

You know, I really don't think age matters.

You were divorced twice.

Weren't you old enough?

That's different.

No, it is not different.

I love Harold.

He's what Charles was to you when you were young.

Well, it seems to me that makes my case

more than yours.

I promise you, we will not run off.

We won't go out on school nights.

If my grades start dropping,

I will not see him at all until I bring them up.

If you want me to go to college, I'll go.

Whatever you want me to do, I will do.

But please, help me see Harold.

Talk to his uncle.

I know that you can convince him.

Please.

Harold means that much to you?

Without Harold...

I don't have anything.

[sighing]

I'll talk to his uncle.

Yeah?

Oh, God.

Thanks.

[mysterious music]

Olivia is obsessed with him.

She can't think about anything else.

He's an important part of my organization.

There won't be any organization if he stays.

Consider him gone.

[music continues]

[gentle music]

Honey, I got everything--

I thought you said...

Paige.

Hmm, boy!

Are we having a party I don't know about?

No, I just wanted to make something special.

Oh, wonderful.

-Uh-huh. -[Mack sniffs]

Guilt is a beautiful thing, isn't it?

I mean, it moves mountains.

It can lift houses off its foundations.

Probably cook bacon all by itself.

That's not it.

I'm just in the mood.

Oh, just in the mood.

If this is what I get

after having breakfast with this guy,

you ought to have dinner with him.

Then I could end up with champagne and caviar.

Anything you want to tell me about?

Don't be silly.

No!

I'm sorry, senorita.

Some things are just not possible.

Well, I'm prepared to sign a traveler's check for you.

A check?

If the highway goes through,

it will destroy the excavation site.

I'm only trying to make a deal with you.

A deal?

Senorita, I should have you arrested.

[sighs] Look.

If it's the check that bothers you...

take this cash

and I'll get you some more when the bank's open.

[speaking Spanish]

Por favor, senorita.

Senorita, por favor.

[speaking Spanish]

[speaking Spanish]

I don't remember asking for an interpreter.

Shut up or go to prison.

[Johnny speaking Spanish]

I told him you weren't trying to bribe him,

that you were only interested in making a donation

to the preservation of Mexico's national treasures,

and that those treasures could be preserved

if the highway construction were delayed.

[Paige] Well, it's still a bribe.

[Johnny] It's all in the way you say it.

Don't I at least get a "thank you"?

Thank you.

Thank you for waiting for me to get back from the States.

And thank you for sleeping with the first woman

you laid eyes on after I left.

Well, thanks for taking off the way you did.

I foolishly expected

that since you came down here to Mexico with me,

you might stay here with me,

instead of running back to Greg Sumner

the first chance you got.

Did you ever think of that side of the coin?

I'm sorry about Debbie.

I-I didn't think you were coming back,

and I don't mean just to Mexico.

So why'd you help me out with the official?

'Cause you were in trouble in there.

And because you did come back.

And I felt like a jerk.

Because...

Well, just because.

[romantic music]

God. We stopped the highway.

[both laughing]

[Pat] Looks like someone's been celebrating around here.

Not celebrating. More like atoning.

I made these for you.

I guess I can freeze them.

-[both laughing] -Thanks.

So what are you atoning for?

Oh, I can't. It's too awful.

What's so awful?

Well, I can't tell Mack,

and I'm too embarrassed to tell Val.

You can tell me.

There's a...

a man I'm working with.

He's...

Well, he's gorgeous. [chuckles]

And he's nice.

And, um...

he pays so much attention to me.

-And-- -You've got a crush on him.

[Karen sighing]

It's okay, Karen.

Everyone does. I've had crushes.

-Have you seen Dirty Dancing? -Pat!

Well, I don't think that you should feel guilty

because you're attracted to someone.

-How cute is he? -Pat!

We had this business conference yesterday

and at the end, we were standing kind of...

close, and...

he-he sort of...

kissed me.

Was it sort of a kiss,

or was it a real kiss?

A real kiss.

Sort of.

What'd you do?

I shot him.

[laughing]

Oh, Karen.

I didn't do anything, I just...

stood there.

-What'd he say? -Nothing.

He turned around and walked out.

Oh, God.

I know.

Well...

I don't think that you should feel guilty.

It's not like you kissed him.

That's not what I feel guilty about.

What I feel guilty about...

is...

I liked it.

Oh, God.

I know.

[car door clicks]

I know I should have called first,

but it was hard enough for me to come over here at all.

Have you heard anything else from Ben?

No. Nothing yet.

I hope you get something else soon.

I just wanted to tell you how happy I am for you

that Ben is coming home.

Thanks.

Jill, what are you doing here?

For a long time,

I have looked at you as the enemy. I was wrong.

We both love Gary.

Whoa, oh-oh-oh! That's not the problem.

That's not the problem.

The point is that you went to court

-to help Gary get my children. -No.

I was doing a job for Gary.

I was trying to get justice for him,

just as your lawyer was trying to get justice for you.

You and Gary have made up.

Don't you think that we should?

Val, I am tired of it seeming like World w*r II

every time we lay eyes on each other.

I'm not saying I think that we could ever be friends...

but I would really like to try to stop being enemies.

I hope we can.

Truce?

Alright.

Okay. Truce.

[instrumental music]

Who knows, maybe when Ben gets back,

we can all go for pizza.

Maybe. Who knows?

[knocking on door]

[gentle music]

[knocking continues]

-Hi. -Hi.

You shouldn't have come here.

I just talked to my mother.

She said she's going to try and convince your uncle

to let us see each other again.

-You're kidding. -No.

Well, if she thinks it's okay, maybe.

I don't know. You just don't know what he's like.

You don't know what my mother is like.

If she wants something badly enough, she'll get it.

What if she can't convince him?

She will.

Harold.

I don't want to wait any longer.

[Olivia chuckles]

[knocking on door]

[Manny] Harold!

-Harold! -It's Manny.

[knocking continues] Just a minute! Just a minute!

The closet.

[Manny] Harold!

[knocking continues] Just a second!

[Manny] Come on!

[Harold coughing]

What's going on? It's almost noon.

I'm feeling kind of sick. I think I have the-the flu.

This ought to help.

-Ticket to Miami? -You're being transferred.

-Transferred? -You're going to love Miami.

It's a great town. I'm setting you up at the Revis.

-Wait a minute. -You don't have a minute.

You need to be packed and ready to go in an hour.

And for your own sake, don't try anything stupid.

Manny...

Look, if it were up to me, you could stay here

and marry the woman.

Have ten kids. But this is business.

And Abby Ewing's been all over me about this thing

with you and her daughter.

Look, Olivia told me that Mrs. Ewing was going to

speak to you about us seeing each other again.

She did talk to me.

But not so you two could carry on.

She said if I don't send you packing...

I could kiss my deal at Lotus Point goodbye.

[somber music]

[narrator] Next on Knots Landing...

It's my mother who's making him do this.

I can talk to her.

If your mother talks to my uncle...

I'm a dead man.

If you leave, I might as well be dead.

You didn't tell him that you and I have talked?

Of course not.

She'll be fine. He'll be fine.

[Mack] I just want to know why he was unloading boats

in the middle of the night.

I don't believe this.

A guy pays me a little bit of attention

and all of a sudden he's a dope dealer or something.

[answering machine] Hi. It's Ben.

[theme music]
