like walking cash registers

and they only open up for one thing

the almighty buck.

I don't think everybody's like that.

You're not like that.

Well, keep going. Expand on that theme.

than just deals and contracts.

My husband and I base some of our most important decisions

on people.

How we felt about them and the relationships involved.

[Paige gasps]

-I'm so sorry. -That's all right.

It'll come out, it'll come out.

And if it doesn't, who cares?

My husband once told me

never worry about anything that's replaceable.

I was just a young thing then

and I had rinsed my wedding ring down the drain.

I called him at our very first drugstore,

jabbering and crying, literally hysterical.

He came rushing home because he thought

something had happened to one of our babies.

When he learned that this was all about a wedding ring

he said, "Lila Richfield

never worry about anything that's replaceable."

As a reminder, he never replaced it.

All these years I've worn my engagement ring

with no wedding ring.

I can't believe how my whole life has changed because of you.

-Your whole life? -My whole life.

Let's go buy a new microwave

and your wedding dress. What do you say?

How about a free cup of coffee instead?

Free cup of coffee instead? Okay.

You think Mack is going to give us his blessing?

Oh, I don't think he'll give us his blessings,

but he won't bother us.

[cheerful music]

Yeah, I need a little favor.

There's a police officer named Tom Ryan.

I want you to follow him.

I want you to find out everything there is

to be found out.

[Mack] Of course you're a free human being.

You think it's worth it?

I'm not going to let some oddball

scare me into giving up something I enjoy.

So now I'm an oddball.

Not you. Him.

The oddball oddball. My fan.

Your fan. You know, I'm starting to think

that you really enjoy all this celebrity stuff.

I enjoy my work.

What if this weirdo who sent you the underwear

starts following you around?

What if he wants to do more than give you underwear?

What if he knows where you live?

We'll take precautions.

Oh, come on.

The best precaution to take is to quit.

I don't believe this.

You would quit your job because someone was threatening you?

Never mind. I know the answer.

You would say you couldn't quit.

You would say that was exactly the reason

you would keep your job.

Now I know this is, this is creepy.

But it's not a threat.

-Not yet. -You're overreacting.

You're under reacting.

You have a family to think about.

-I... -[knock on the door]

Oh, hi, Sue. Sue, this is my husband Mack. Mack...

-Hi. -Hi.

I want to apologize for any trouble I might have caused

with the underwear.

They said it caused some problems.

What about the underwear?

It was mine.

-Yours? -Yours?

My husband sent it to me sort of as a joke

because we were going away for a long weekend.

I'm really sorry.

-There's no problem. -[Mack] No problem.

[Mack and Karen] Thanks for telling us.

Don't tell me I was overreacting.

I'm not saying anything.

Yeah, but you were thinking it.

Oh, so now you know what I'm thinking.

Yeah, I know what you're thinking.

And if you think I'm going to apologize

for being concerned about my wife, my family

I'm not going to apologize.

You can be concerned about me anytime you want.

Now you know what I'm thinking?

Shame on you.

[laughs]

Now I know what you're thinking.

You're thinking maybe your husband should send you

some underwear once in a while.

The bail's been posted.

Let's go.

You're going to tell her that she can be a doctor again.

Right?

Would you give me a break?

Your mother can barely talk.

Well, she can listen.

Okay.

-Alright. You happy? -Very.

Good, 'cause here's the room.

One, two, and three, and four, and five.

One, and two, and three, and four.

-We have a heartbeat? -Not yet.

Let's bring her back in two, and three, and four and five.

[nurse] I can't bring her back.

Paddle, one, and two, and three, and four, and five.

-Shock! -She's back.

-We got her. -We have a heartbeat.

What is going on?

She is hypoxic.

Well, what is that?

Move it. Move. Back to ICU.

-Come on. -Clear the hallway.

Her pupils are fixed and dilated.

Her brain was without oxygen.

How?

A blood clot broke loose

and got lodged in the heart.

She's in a coma.

Karen.

I heard whose underwear that was.

Thanks.
