[theme music]

[narrator] Previously on Knots Landing.

Detective, this is an official investigation.

Everything you say goes on to the record.

Put this down on your record.

I did not skim any money off the drug bust.

Looks like somebody got caught

with their hand in the cookie jar.

[Paige] What?

You have a balance of $103,000?

I thought you might want to know about my purchase.

This here is a bold action. 30-06 r*fle.

I wanted a.357 Magnum.

You know, like Dirty Harry, but you know in this state,

the waiting period for a handgun.

I didn't want to wait.

Great country, isn't it?

There's no brain activity at all Mr. Williams, I'm sorry.

Your wife is clinically dead.

[Karen screaming]

I'm alone, I just need someone here with me

until Mack gets home.

I'll be right there.

[theme music]

[eerie music]

[knocking]

[whispering] Karen.

[telephone ringing]

[Karen]... and we'll return your call as soon as we can.

[Mack] Karen, I found out who's been writing those letters.

He's the security guard at the studio. Wayne Wilson.

Of all people, right?

He's got, I don't know, a shrine to you in his bedroom.

I've already called the police and I'll try you at the studio.

-Hang in there, kid. -Look here.

-Where did you get this? -It was on his night stand.

All right, don't touch anything else.

Let the police handle it.

Did you see what he put at the bottom?

Yeah, I saw it. Karen MacKenzie, please.

I think that's incredibly cheeky,

"My love always."

[scoffs] "My love always."

Can you imagine?

Give me Diane, the producer of the show.

Well, tell her it's Mack MacKenzie.

I hope all these calls you're making are local?

Yes, Mack, what can I do for you?

You got a security guard there named Wayne Wilson?

-Yes. -[Mack] Is he there now?

I don't know. Did you ask the front desk?

I'm asking you.

Hold on just a minute.

Is Wayne Wilson here?

Yeah, he doesn't clock out for another half hour.

-He's here. -Well, keep him there.

He's the guy who's been writing the letters to Karen.

I see...

Hold on just a minute.

Everybody,

why don't we take a break? All right?

We'll continue this meeting later.

Make sure that Wayne does not clock out.

Why?

Tell him that I've got some

extra work for him to do.

Okay?

Wayne is our letter writer.

[chuckling] What?

Oh, my God.

-Okay, Mack. -[Mack] Don't let him know

you found him out. He might panic.

I'll call the police. Thanks, Dianne.

[Owner] Police are here.

-Where is he? -He's working over the studio.

Can you send the unit over there to pick him up?

They said they'd stall him until your people got there.

-Where's the phone? -Here. Now.

I'll make a statement over the studio if it's alright with you.

-Go. -Oh, excuse me, Dianne.

Jeff said that you were looking for Wayne.

-Yes. -[Sue] He left early.

He said he had to take care of Karen.

-Take care of-- -He said he something came up

and he had to go to her house.

-I can't find him anywhere. -He's at Karen's house.

Sue, Wayne is the letter writer.

Get the police on the phone

and tell them to get over to Karen's house.

Then start calling Karen

and don't stop until you reach her.

-Come on. -What if Wayne answers.

[voicemail reversed rapidly]

[Mack] Karen, I found out who's been writing those letters.

It's the security guard at the studio, Wayne Wilson.

Of all people, right?

He's got, I don't know, a shrine to you in his bedroom.

I've already called the police and I'll try you at the studio.

Hang in there, kid.

[eerie music]

[telephone ringing]

[Karen] We can't come to phone right now,

but please leave a message after the tone

and we'll return your call as soon as we can.

[Sue] Karen, this is Sue. You there?

If you are, could you please pick up the phone?

[eerie music]

If your screening calls and you don't pick up the phone,

I'm going to take it very personally.

[Sue] Well, when you get in,

could you give me a call at the studio?

We have a bit of an emergency.

Oh, nothing that a simple phone call won't take care of.

It's just a question I need you to answer for me, okay?

Okay. Talk to you later.

[eerie music]

[Karen] Please leave a message after the tone

and we'll return your call as soon as we can.

[phone beep]

[Sue] It's me again.

I really we do need to hear from you

as soon as possible, Karen.

We have a major scheduling problem

that needs to be taken care of right now.

It's just a couple of questions,

but we can't put the schedule to bed

until I hear from you.

Call me as soon as you get in, okay?

Did he ever discuss Karen MacKenzie with you?

Well, I knew he admired her.

He said that often enough. But...

He never said he was in love with her,

anything like that.

I mean, who could have guessed, right?

I mean, I just figured he was a fan.

Wayne has always been a very polite person.

He's very quiet.

He, uh, pays his rent on time

and, uh, he's never any trouble.

I mean, there's no noise,

no late parties, nothing like that.

Actually, Wayne is the kind of tenant

every landlord wants.

I can't imagine Wayne hurting a fly.

[eerie music]

Wait.

-Turn on the light. -No.

Why not?

Because I'm ashamed.

Of what?

Of what people think of me.

I know what people think

because they found this stuff in my apartment.

What's in your apartment, Wayne?

My things.

My souvenirs.

My photos of you.

What do they think, Wayne?

I'm your biggest fan.

[eerie music]

Thank you, Wayne.

I wish I could end this a different way.

Could I sit up? This is not comfortable.

There's there's no way out of this.

[tense music]

[whispering] Go around the back.

-Oh, hi, Meg and... -Barbara.

Yes, that's right. Um...

Meg, would you excuse us for just a minute? Okay?

I need to talk to Barbara.

Do you have the keys?

-Yes, but-- -I need them.

-I'm sorry, I can't-- -Karen's inside

with a very dangerous man.

I've already called the police, but I don't want to wait

until they get here.

[tense music]

All I ever did was try to help.

Like telling you to wear the scarf?

It was a lovely scarf.

I should've worn it.

I really should've worn it.

[tense music]

-Where's Karen? -I don't know yet.

[telephone ringing]

[Karen] We can't come to the phone right now

but please leave message after the tone,

and we'll return your call as soon as we can.

[phone beep]

[Sue] Karen, I really wish you'd check in with us.

Sue. Sue, it's Jeff. Where the hell are the police?

I don't know. Is Karen all right?

I don't know. Will you call them again?

Get them over here.

[eerie tense music]

[Wayne] He never did listen to me.

[tense music]

[Karen] I know, we'll take care of you.

But none of it matters anymore now.

[Wayne] I wanted to protect you.

That's why I got this job.

[Wayne sobs] It was the greatest thing that ever happened to me?

-But now it's all spoiled. -Damn right.

[Wayne grunts]

[grunting]

[Karen sobbing]

Are you okay?

[Wayne grunting]

[Julie] I brought you something special, Mom.

I bet you won't remember it.

You know, I forgot we even had this tape.

I found it behind the stereo.

That's because I was cleaning up

and I remembered to dust behind all of the furniture myself.

[Julie] Can you believe that?

Well, the house looks great.

Wait till you see it though.

Hi.

Hi, Julie.

Mr. Williams...

I think we should discuss removing--

Can we talk about this outside?

Be right back, baby.

Mommy.

At this point there is nothing to be gained

by continuing life support.

I would like to take her off the respirator.

No.

Mr. Williams, her body won't continue

to function indefinitely, even on life support.

Her heart will fail within two weeks.

Miracles happen.

I wish I could tell you that were true.

There has never been a single case

of a brain dead patient reviving.

Perhaps it would be less stressful for you

and your daughter if we proceed quickly.

No.

-Mr. Williams. -I said no.

[door shut]

[Attorney] The case against you is strong.

But we can present mitigating circumstances.

Parts-experts to examine your car for faulty equipment

and I've got a man checking Seaview Circle

to determine there was adequate street lighting.

So there are a lot of doubts we can inject

in the minds of the jury

bringing some character witnesses.

So I'm going to need a list from you of people

who might be willing to testify on your behalf.

I'm afraid you're not going to find

very many of them in this town.

It's the most hateful group of people I've ever known.

I'm still being hounded by two detectives

hired by my wife's ex-husband.

Even bought a r*fle to try and scare 'em off.

It didn't work.

That's not going to help your image in court.

I'm afraid my... my image is shot to hell anyway.

The only person that was nice to me in this town...

the woman I hit.

I doubt she's gonna have anything nice to say about me

when she gets out of the hospital.

Well, maybe that's the key to the case.

And Pat would understand an accident.

She might even drop the charges.

What if I went to the hospital

and I brought some flowers maybe, and...

I would advise you to avoid all contact for the family.

This is the most awful,

terrible thing that could ever happen.

And I know you don't want to remove the respirator.

But you have to realize...

...it's inevitable.

No.

Then let the doctor make the decision for you.

No.

Frank.

[telephone ringing]

I think that it's harder...

for you to sit by her bed every day...

expecting a miracle.

[emotional music]

When no miracles could happen.

I'm not being stubborn.

Or irrational.

And I'm not unrealistic.

And I'm not in denial.

You don't think I know my wife is dead?

But I'm not.

I cannot... take her off life support.

Until I can figure out how to tell my baby.

[Dianne] You should pamper yourself.

Read junk magazines, take bubble baths,

eat mints and lie in bed for a week.

That's what I would do.

Well, thanks for the offer,

but I think the best way for me to get over this is...

to get back to work first thing in the morning.

You want to work tomorrow?

I can't wait to have a normal nine to five day.

Suit yourself. I'd go for the mints.

Oh.

-[Val] Sorry. -Hi.

-[whispering] Hi. -Where you've been?

At the hospital.

I wish you wouldn't go out alone.

I know, Gary.

I just wanted to be with Frank.

[exhales deeply] How is he?

[sobbing] Awful.

[Val sobbing] Oh, God, Gary.

If I hadn't married Danny,

Pat would still be alive.

Don't.

I feel like I-- I drove that car myself.

You didn't.

You know, if I could take back everything I've done this year,

I would do it in a second.

[emotional music]

-Listen to me. -[sobbing] What?

You cannot change the past,

it can only go forward.

I know.

God, you've changed so much, Gary.

[chuckling] God, I hope so.

You have.

I want...

to be with Frank when they take her off.

Look, um...

I don't...

I don't think you should leave the ranch anymore.

Why not?

I didn't want to tell you this before, but...

What?

Danny bought a g*n.

[indistinct chatter on PA]

[dramatic tense music]

Excuse me. I'd like to leave this for Patricia Williams.

Oh, you can go ahead and take it in.

I-- I don't want to disturb the family.

-Thanks. -Okay.

[woman 1] It's their choice.

Doctor. Carroll shouldn't have even given

the Williams family an option. She should have said,

"I'm pulling the plug. That's it."

You cannot ignore the family's feelings.

I'm not. Let the doctor make the decision.

And then there's no guilt. It's quicker. It's cleaner.

The family has the right to determine

when life support should be terminated.

Great. In the meantime, we wait for them to decide.

And I need that bed.

[eerie music]

-I can't get a break on this. -Did you get the records?

Yes, my accountants had 11

separate cash deposits during the week,

All in the amounts of under $10,000.

-All different branches. -Why under $10,000?

So the deposit doesn't have to fill out a federal report.

Well, Internal Affairs has to be smart enough

to know that this is a setup.

Why should they believe me?

Because nobody would be stupid enough

to run that amount of cash with their own account.

That's great. I'll just tell them that I'm smart enough

to hide my stolen money where they can't find it.

I didn't say that.

Paige, even if I convinced them I didn't do this,

something else will turn up.

I can't clear myself until I find out

who it is that's trying to set me up.

Do you think it could be Mack?

Mack wouldn't do this, and even if he wanted to,

he doesn't have that kind of money.

Look, did you run through everyone that you put away?

Yes. Nothing.

And what about the guys that you used to... you know?

Scam for, break arms for? Oakman's out of business.

Well, someone's doing this to you,

and whoever it is,

they are willing to sink a fortune into doing this.

I need a volunteer from the Sumner group

to work as a liaison

with the West Coast conservationists.

Greg, I'm getting married next week.

I have a lot to do.

I haven't asked for any time off,

but I can't take on any more responsibilities.

Gee, I'd love to do this, sir.

I'm a passionate conservationist,

but the WCC meets on Thursday.

I have a standing date

at the Round Table Society Thursdays.

All in all, I think they're much more profitable contacts

at the Round Table Society

than at the Tree Hugger meetings, sir.

I'm honored that you would ask,

but I did the cost projections

for the firm that's building the Barton Mall

that the WCC is opposing.

So I'm afraid that any work

I did for the conservationists would be considered

a conflict of interest,

not that I wouldn't do my best.

Let me get this straight.

Everybody wants to dump this on some defenseless underling?

I want to introduce you to our new Sumner Group appointee.

Good. Excuse me.

Karen MacKenzie. Excuse me. Linda Fairgate.

-Linda. -Karen.

Hi.

Gosh, I'm so relieved. Everything is all right.

I mean, you're finally free from that madman.

-I just wanted to help her. -You unplugged the phone.

-Karen was exhausted-- -You locked all the doors Wayne.

You lock the windows. You're supposed

to lock the windows and secure the house.

That's what I learned at security guard training school.

[Wayne] I know I probably should've listened

to the answering machine,

but I thought it might be whoever was scaring Karen.

I thought I could find a clue and catch the guy.

-You want to be a hero? -I wanted to help.

Maybe you want to be a hero so much

that you scared my wife half out of a wit

so you could pretend to rescue her.

-No. -You weren't gonna rescue her?

That's not what I meant.

What were you planning to do Wayne?

Nothing. I mean, my job protecting her.

You've gotten me confused.

We saw the apartment, Wayne.

-We found the letter. -That's not my letter.

-What letter is in your letter? -You know...

You guys are trying to trick me again.

The one signed "my love always."

-Yeah, your letter. -Stop saying that.

Where do you get the letter if it isn't yours Wayne?

From the studio.

I took it so Karen wouldn't be upset.

You know how those letters upset her.

-You took it from the mail room? -No, from a box of fan mail.

Sure.

And all the pictures of Karen you have plastered on the wall.

There's nothing wrong with collecting pictures.

Everybody does it.

Karen signed a picture for me.

She gave it to me herself.

If she hadn't wanted me to have it,

she wouldn't have signed it.

I love Karen.

I love Joan Endicott last year.

You know the the anchorwoman on Channel 16.

But this year, it's Karen.

That's why I put all my Joan Endicott stuff in the closet.

Besides, I never hurt Joan.

That proves I wouldn't hurt Karen.

-Michael? -He went down to accounting.

-He'll be right back. -Oh, thanks, Harvey.

Karen, hi again.

You work in here?

Uh-huh. Michael and I share an office.

Why are you doing this?

-Doing what? -Going after Michael.

-That's ridiculous. -First you get a job here.

Then you move in with Michael.

How many coincidences can there be?

Karen, I think you're bringing too much past history to this.

I was lucky enough to get a position at this company,

and I'm certainly not going to jeopardize it

by letting my personal life interfere

with my job performance.

Are you implying Michael's part of your personal life?

-I didn't say that. -But you want me to think it?

At this point, Karen,

I'm beginning not to care what you think.

[Karen] Well, you're going to hear it anyway.

My sons never fought until you came along.

[chuckling] Eric and Michael didn't fight over me.

Yes, they did.

You upset Eric so much he hit Michael.

Well, I didn't know that.

But even if he did,

that kind of behavior reflects

much more on your parenting skills

than it does on me.

Stay away from my family.

Excuse me, but I have some work to do.

Hi, mom.

Oh, hi, honey.

I just wanted to come by and say hello.

I'm glad you did. Can I buy you some lunch?

-Great. -Great.

[eerie music]

[Hanson] Just like he said, Joan Endicott, Channel 16.

They were in the closet,

So he didn't hurt some newscaster.

That doesn't mean he's not gonna hurt Karen.

The guy's deranged.

I can only hold him if he makes a direct threat.

-He wrote those letters. -He denies it.

-There's no fingerprint. -You can't let this man go.

I can't keep him locked up without proof.

Give me time to get some. Get a psychiatric evaluation.

Do something.

Don't make me tell Karen he's getting out.

[Michael] I'll talk to you later about it.

Well, have you found these another space yet?

Well, keep trying. Okay? Thanks.

What space?

I'm going to move to another office.

You just moved in here.

Michael, it's just not working.

Your mother was just in here and we started fighting and...

I just can't keep going up against your family.

It's just too hard on me.

I thought that we were going to keep our relationship

on a professional level.

Well, I try.

But your mother won't let me forget anything.

She says that I destroyed her family.

And I keep letting her say these awful things to me

because I don't want to tell her the truth about Eric.

Wait, what do you mean "The truth about Eric"?

You wouldn't even believe me if I told you.

-No. What? -No.

I promised myself I wasn't going to tell you.

What?

[telephone ringing]

You probably think that Eric is as gentle as a lamb.

You probably couldn't even ever think of him hitting anyone.

Well, neither could I.

That's why I stayed with him after he hit me the first time.

-He hit you? -[Linda] Yes.

I mean, I thought it was a mistake,

just an awful aberration.

But it just got worse and worse.

My God.

Oh, Michael, you can't ever tell your mother.

It would just break her heart if she knew.

Karen now, I don't want to worry you,

but they may not have enough evidence to hold Wayne.

-Hi. -Hi.

We know you're not hungry, but...

I thought you might like a little something

for your fridge, just in case.

Yeah, there we go.

Did you tell Julie yet?

-Hi. -Hi, honey.

We brought a little food.

Oh, thanks, you've brought practically everything.

I, um, I've got mom's gown, so I'm ready to go.

Why don't you wait in the car? I'll be right with you.

Okay. Bye, bye.

Do you want me to talk to her?

No. Got a whole speech worked out.

I'm about to take her to church.

I just didn't want to tell her at the hospital.

-[Danny] Julie. Hi. -[screaming] Daddy.

-[Julie screaming] Daddy! -Julie. What's the matter?

Stay away from my child.

I just want to tell her not to give up.

Just get away from here.

[Danny] I told you all, I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

But if you pull the plug on your wife,

you're the one that's going to be k*lling it, man.

-[Danny] Not me. -What?

[Frank grunts]

[Mack screaming] Frank. Frank.

Go ahead and hit me. If it make you feel better.

But don't k*ll your wife.

Don't take away her life support.

What's he talking about? Daddy?

[Julie breathing heavily]

I've ordered cut lilacs for the tables.

But neither of these napkins are going to go with them.

Do you like lilacs?

-Sure. -Because if you don't,

we could go with a fridja maybe.

I just don't want one of those stuffy basket arrangements.

Whatever you want.

Then again, lilacs are very expensive.

They have to be flown in.

That's no problem.

I've got plenty of money, haven't you heard?

Over $100,000?

Tom, I know this is tough on you.

It's tough on me too,

but I thought that going over

the wedding arrangements would...

get your mind off things.

You know, this wedding is beginning to sound

a little silly to me.

Silly?

Yes. Not every day you have a groom

walking down the aisle in handcuffs.

[scoffs]

So what are we supposed to do?

Call off the wedding because you're under investigation?

Maybe that's a good idea.

So what's Internal Affairs going to think if we cancel?

They're going to think that I walked out on you.

Oh, that's a great reason to get married.

So I look good for the department

and you've done your job and stuck by your man.

-I didn't say that. -[Tom] You didn't have to.

I don't want anybody to marry me out of obligation.

[scoffs]

[door shut]

You know, mother would never do it, not in a million years.

She would want to live.

It isn't a question of whether or not

she's going to live, Julie.

Yes, it is.

Would you like to talk to the doctor?

No. No.

I don't have any money. Give me some money.

-Are you hungry? -I didn't say I was hungry.

I said I wanted money.

No, I need change. Give me your change.

This is all I have, I could get you more at the cafeteria.

No, this is enough. I am going to call a lawyer

and I'm going to stop all of this right now.

I'm going to stop you and I'm gonna stop that doctor.

And don't you touch my mother while I'm gone.

[Linda] I have held this in for so long.

But I feel disloyal talking about Eric even now.

Why don't you ever tell me about this before?

I didn't want your sympathy.

I wanted you to like me for who I am,

not for what I've been through.

I guess that's why I pushed myself on you.

-You didn't. -Yes, I did.

I never should have come to the apartment that night

and... I'm embarrassed and ashamed.

You don't have to be.

This feels so good, getting all this off my chest.

Maybe now we can really be friends. Real friends.

I gotta go. Can I use your phone to call a cab?

[woman #2] Sure.

There you go. You need the phone book?

Yeah. My car is in the shop again.

-I can give you a ride home. -No, that's okay.

Come on. Cabs are expensive.

Well. Are you sure you don't mind?

I've done everything all wrong.

[emotional music]

Julie needs you, baby.

So much.

You always knew exactly what to say to her.

I-- I hardly ever did.

You tried to help me understand her.

Tried to help me know what to say to her.

Now when I need your advice...

more than ever...

you're gone.

[emotional music]

[sobs]

I hope our colors aren't going to clash.

We're sitting in the same row, you know,

I haven't picked out a dress yet.

I've shopped day and night for weeks

and you haven't done anything.

-Mother. -She's had a problem at work.

Oh, that's right.

Well, I hope your crazed admirer isn't planning

to crash the wedding.

There may not even be a wedding.

-Tom wants to postpone it. -What?

He wants to wait until after the investigation?

Darling...

Everybody gets the jitters before a wedding.

I'm not taking the dress back.

Maybe waiting isn't such a bad idea.

-Yeah, then he'll be in jail. -Mack.

-You'd like that, wouldn't you? -I'd like to see justice done.

Well, then help us If you want to see justice done.

Call Internal Affairs and see what they found out.

That's why you came over here. To get me to help Tom.

Maybe they already know it's a setup.

We just don't know anything.

You want me to help a crooked cop

when the department finally has enough evidence to nail him?

It's phony evidence.

-[Mack] Says Tom. -Says me.

Hey, look, you know,

I have a hell of a lot more important things to do

with my wife being terrorized

than to stand around helping some lowlife boyfriend

out of a legitimate investigation.

Not only don't I want you to give me away,

I don't even want you at the church.

Mack... Uh, Paige!

You are going to help, aren't you?

No.

Anne.

You are going to help her, aren't you?

Yes.

I mean, isn't it a law?

I'm supposed to help my daughter, no matter how stup--

No matter how innocent she may be? Yes.

I'm going to help her? Yes.

Thank you for the ride. I-- I don't want to ask you in.

I hope you don't mind. It's just...

I don't want it to ever feel uncomfortable between us again.

You mean too much to me for that.

And first thing tomorrow morning,

I'm going to ask for an office transfer.

Ah, you don't have to do that.

Michael, I don't want you or your mother

to feel uncomfortable.

And I don't want to keep creating these situations

that could hurt either one of you.

-Good night. -Good night.

Someone framed my fiance.

He says he's innocent.

I believe him.

You always were a trusting soul.

Greg...

I've never asked you for a favor.

Please can you can you say that he worked for you?

That you paid him in cash?

That he was a private investigator?

Just give him an alibi for the money.

You always thought I was a dope

for some of the things I've done.

I think that's because you didn't understand

why I did them.

Not that I need to explain myself to you.

It doesn't matter, I don't mind being thought of as a dope.

It does matter that I do the right thing though.

But this is the right thing.

Tom's life is being destroyed.

I'm gonna do you a favor.

Thank you.

The favor is I'm going to say no.

[instrumental music]

I love you so much.

I'll never let anything break us apart.

[romantic music]

[Tom whispering] I love you too.

[telephone ringing]

You are late and Dianne wants to wrap early

so she can get her roots done.

-Oh, well. -[Dianne] Karen.

You have eight PSAs to sh**t today

with a wardrobe change for each of them.

The wardrobe mistress has been waiting for you since dawn.

I got stuck in a traffic jam.

A flat tire always sounds good too.

It was a traffic jam.

-Karen. -Boy.

Why does everything have to get back to normal so quickly?

Is Wayne still in jail?

Yeah, so far, but Mack says

that they can't hold him much longer.

Well, at least we know who to watch out for.

-That's some consolation. -That's true.

Well, let's get the show on the road.

[man #2] Got it.

[eerie music]

-You're free to go. -[sighing] Thank you.

Hey, you bother Mrs. MacKenzie in any way,

we'll charge you with harassment.

I would never bother her.

My job is to protect her.

I married your mother...

because I knew as long as I lived...

I would always look forward to coming home to her.

I knew that she would make my home safe and warm.

That life would always be fun and entertaining.

She did that.

And now...

we can remember...

how lucky we were to have had that.

Most people never had that.

[emotional music]

I would like to call the doctor

to make the final arrangements.

[crying]

I want you to get a court order and stop them.

You can't get it.

Look, as long as she's breathing, she's alive.

She's not breathing.

The equipment is pumping oxygen

through her body.

Breathing is breathing.

-She is dead. -She's not dead.

All right.

[Danny] All right, she's dead.

But she died of a heart attack.

It wasn't because of the accident.

She died of a blood clot to the brain,

which happened as the direct result

of the injuries sustained in the accident.

Look, what if the doctor screwed up?

What if-- what if we got a report from the doctor?

You know, I don't think I'm getting through to you.

No one is going after a doctor.

No one is going after a hospital.

They are coming after you.

[Attorney] They're coming after you with both barrels.

The charges have been changed,

causing bodily injury to vehicular manslaughter.

And they may go for homicide.

Homicide?

Yeah.

[dramatic music]

Th-- this is some sort of joke, isn't it?

I'm not pleading guilty to homicide.

It was an accident.

Accidents are--

You got a back door to this place.

I I don't want to deal with Gary Ewing's detectives.

I need to get some fresh air.

I have...

Take the third door to the left. Go down the stairwell.

Thank you.

[dramatic emotional music]

[eerie music]

[g*n c*ck]

Oh, my God.

Everybody's talking about how you bought a r*fle.

And that we should watch out for you.

-You shouldn't be-- -[Julie stomping]

We're taking my mother off life support tomorrow.

But you're going to quit breathing

before my mother does.

[dramatic tense music]

[narrator] Next on Knots land.

You're not getting away with k*lling my mom.

I never loaded that g*n.

[g*n shot]

"You have a black heart.

"and I will rip your black heart

from your decaying body."

"My love always."

What do you think?

I think you're marrying the wrong guy.

If you disappear before this corny little ceremony,

I'll get the charges dropped against you.

[theme music]
