12x11 - Asked to Rise

Post by bunniefuu »

[narrator] Previously on Knots Landing...

We could what?

Get married.

You never get any credit for your work.

I mean, you work weekends, you do all the research

and then when a deal comes through

people call to congratulate Paige and Greg.

Nobody ever calls you.

Nobody knows you're alive.

I don't need a PR person.

Fine.

I won't mention your name in the future.

-Fine. -That's a beautiful ring.

Are you engaged?

Oh, it was my mother's.

If I ever hear about you cutting classes again,

then your friends will really have something to laugh about

because I'll be coming to your classes myself.

and I will sit in the back of your classroom

until the damn bell rings.

How are the chances for liver transplant?

It's a long shot.

I'm a rare vintage, you know.

My brother has the power to save many lives.

Using his money we could build a burn center

that's so desperately needed in this city

and the number of lives that that could save,

I feel, tips the scales of justice

ever so slightly in his favor.

We have good news.

The hospital found a liver for you.

[man] It'll be a miracle

if he makes it through the operation.

[theme music]

[Kate] They're supposed to be taking him to post op

right about now.

It's a strange feeling, isn't it?

-That he could die? -[woman] Nurse on call...

Does it bother you for me to say it?

Well, you'd fit in well with my family.

Why?

Because they think they hide things by not saying them.

So, in that way,

you're a lot like my parents generation.

Maybe that's why he proposed to me.

Who proposed to you?

-Your uncle. -My uncle?

That's great.

Gosh, I didn't think he had it in him.

Well, you said yeah, didn't you?

-No. -Why not?

He wasn't serious.

Just because you don't know the code.

-The code? -Yeah.

You see, in my family

they don't exactly say what they mean.

Right? So, like, for example

if you're miserable, you say, "I'm fine,"

and if you need help, you say "I don't need anything."

And if you really enjoy somebody's company,

then you say "Get out of my face."

See, it's, it's just the way they talk.

This is beyond me.

Katie.

The operation went well

but they won't know for some time

whether his body will accept the transplant.

Paige, you look exhausted.

Why don't you go home?

No, I'd rather stay.

You know, you really don't have to.

I'll call you the minute there's any change.

I know I don't have to. I want to.

Mom, let her stay.

I mean, after all, she's your future sister-in-law.

-What? -He's her fiance.

-He's not my fiance. -No, not yet.

But Uncle Greg did propose to you, didn't he?

-Yes. -See, I told you.

-Isn't that great? -It's...

[chuckles]

I'm speechless.

[knock on the door]

[knock on the door]

[harder knocks on the door] Alright.

-Hi. -Hi?

That's it? Hi?

Gary, I'm too tired for one of your moods

if you're in one of your moods.

I'm not in a mood. I am furious.

I get back to the ranch.

You're gone. The kids are gone.

The clothes are gone.

And you just disappear into thin air.

We didn't disappear into thin air.

We came home.

Look.

Do we discuss this? Do we talk about our children?

Or do we just do whatever you want to do?

I'm not going to argue with you, Gary, I'm busy.

-Where are the kids? -Upstairs.

[movie on TV] Have they found Sandy?

They're bringing him over now.

[Gary] Hey guys. What's up?

[indistinct chatter]

Lewis, look out.

I didn't speak.

Were you, son of a b*tch?

Glad you can join us.

Time for the chair.

No, please, no no, please! No no!

I don't think this is a movie we want.

-Daddy don't do that! -Hey, don't do that!

[twins complaining]

Mummy let us watch it--

Hey, hey, calm down. Calm down.

Would you guys get the candy and soda?

-[both twins] Mommy. -Mommy?

She said we can choose what we wanted for dinner.

-For dinner? -Yeah.

Mommy's nice and you're stupid.

Yeah, you're like a son of a b*tch daddy.

[laughs]

[voice on the speaker] Nurses on call to ICU ten.

So, when she told me to go home

she really wanted me to stay?

Well, she might want you to stay

but she doesn't want you feel obligated to

so she said to go home.

But on the other hand

she might really want you to go home.

But that's the opposite of how you said the code works.

No, no, I know, but.

But my mom isn't herself.

I mean, she's

she's the most upset I've ever seen her.

But she and Greg weren't very close, were they?

No. No, they sort of

hated from afar

Wait, did they actually hate each other?

They say they do

but remember the code.

Anyway, he's still her brother

and you can't really

lose a member of your family without...

Without, you know

like being reminded of your own mortality.

Yes, I wouldn't have called this late if it weren't important.

I need some information on California law.

What if a man dies shortly after getting married

and he didn't have time to rewrite his will?

Yes.

But what if there is no mention of the new wife in his will?

[eerie music]

Good heavens.

Have a good day.

-Oh, how about fish tonight? -Great.

Make some, will you?

Knock them dead.

Karen!

Jason!

Hey.

[eerie music]

Good morning, Mr. McKenzie.

Something happened to your tire?

You little piece of garbage. Didn't I tell you?

You are gonna what? Smack me? Make you feel better.

You could get jailed Mr. McKenzie.

You can report me. But to whom? For what?

I was standing here waiting for the bus

so I can go to school

so I won't be reported to a true officer, Mr. McKenzie.

I believe this is my bus, Sir.

[bus driver] Come on,

We got to get going, we're late.

[voice on the speaker] Nurse, phone call.

Nurse, please pick up 57.

-Hi.

-Oh, Paige. -How is he?

About the same, which is good

because his body shows no signs of rejecting the transplant.

-Wait, is he conscious? -He's asleep.

But you can see him in a minute. Katie's in there now.

They say that he has to have as much rest as possible.

Paige, I wonder if you'd do me a favor.

What is it?

Kate is unbearably depressed.

And don't tell her I told you so.

Oh, I won't.

This situation is bringing back all the memories

of her father's death.

The hanging around the hospital...

She was crying all night long.

Would you, and I know this is a big favor to ask

Could you help take her mind off of it?

It's not good for her to be here for so long.

Maybe you could, I don't know

go Christmas shopping or something.

-Okay, yeah. -I'm so grateful.

-Hi. -Hi. How is he?

He's still sleeping.

Why don't you go in and see him?

Yeah, yeah.

Do you want some coffee?

Oh, no, thank you honey, I have some.

Okay.

Honey.

I have a big favor to ask of you

but it has to be our secret.

Paige was so eager to see Greg,

I I didn't have the heart to tell her

that he didn't want to see her.

He what?

Yeah, don't make a big thing out of this.

And for heaven's sakes, don't tell her, I told you.

Okay, but I, why doesn't he want to see her?

Oh, is just that male pride thing

where he can't stand anyone seeing him weak and helpless.

He told you this?

Well, he told me he didn't want Paige to see him

and I know him well enough to know why.

I also know that it would just break Paige's heart

if I told her so, in so many words.

Well, Mom you could just explain it to her

like you just explained it to me.

No, I couldn't explain it to her

and it'll sound as if I'm covering up.

Please just help me distract her for a few days

just until Greg is his old self again.

I don't know, maybe

maybe you could do your Christmas shopping

or something, would you?

-Okay. -That a girl.

-Thanks, honey. -Sure.

You are a gem.

Thanks, Mom.

The revolving wheel that Emily Dickinson talks about

is not a wheel at all.

But what? Anyone?

Julie?

-I don't know. -Wings.

Wings that move so fast they seem like wheels spinning.

Every blossom on the bush adjusts its tumbled head.

Some flying creature goes from flower to flower.

A bee, a bumblebee.

Good suggestion, excellent suggestion.

A bee does sip nectar

so that every blossom on the bush

would have to adjust its tumbled head.

But the key here is the colors.

Emerald and cochineal.

It's a rich scarlet.

She seems to be describing iridescence.

Iridescent wings.

Jason.

A hummingbird?

Exactly, exactly. Good. So...

So, why didn't the poet just say hummingbird?

Because nothing rhymes with hummingbird.

-And because she thought... -[school bell rings]

...she'd make it harder for us to understand her.

Okay, think about it.

Oh, and don't forget, essays are due tomorrow.

Who's the old student?

He was held like 17 years in a row.

-Mr. Williams. -Thank you.

I think you're doing the right thing.

I wish more parents took the time.

I'm trying.

Isn't Julie lucky to have her old man

go through all the trouble of coming to school

to embarrass her?

Hey, so do you know the answer

about the Hummingbird Mr. Williams?

Give me the truth.

Hey, so if you have any problems with your homework tonight

make sure you give me a call, alright?

[upbeat music]

Oh, geez, I'm sorry.

Jason.

You get a mop and clean up that coffee.

Now, please.

Are you a Dickinson fan, Mr. Williams?

"We never know how high we are

till we are asked to rise.

And then, if we are true to plan

Our statures touch the skies."

Thanks.

[medical machine beeping]

Hey.

How do you feel?

I feel like roadkill.

I got the picture.

You want anything?

How about a new life?

I think you just got one.

I think I just got a used liver.

It'll work.

Where's Paige?

Katie went to get her.

I figured they'd be here by now.

Just won't take a minute.

I just have to get my messages

and pick something up in my office.

Paige, where would you like me to put these?

What are they?

Everything you ask for

on Callaway Industries competitors.

Price to earnings, market shares, projections.

Foreign competitors, domestic subcontractors.

Look, you're too busy to go Christmas shopping.

No, no, I'm not too busy to go Christmas shopping.

Okay, well, I'll just wait over here.

By default you should get

a pretty good profile out of this.

Maybe even more accurate than what we've got

using the figures that Callaway people gave us.

Make sure it's readable.

You want me to put this together?

Yeah, yeah, I need it yesterday.

Well, I'll get right on it, and I.

What else?

I just wanted to say that I've been waiting

for something like this project for a long time and.

Well, I've been looking forward to working with you.

But you're not working with me. You're working for me.

But I appreciate your enthusiasm.

Katie, come on, come on.

Now, none of this data is directly relevant

to your company's products and services

but I think it should give you a handle

on how our research targets similar markets

and where our strengths are.

Would be immensely helpful

to have the revenue projections for next year.

It would have also been helpful to the Germans

to know the day and hour of the Allied invasion.

Calloway is being acquired by the Sumner Group.

We're not invading.

Those revenue projections are confidential.

So is the research and development budget

which I suspect is hiding

a big fat pile of investment money

Are you listed in here?

-I beg your pardon? -Under assets.

I consider you

one of the Sumner Group invaluable assets.

Well, it's great to be appreciated.

Try them all. I beg your pardon?

You'll have more luck finding

Little Miss Junior Executive at the shopping mall.

Tis the season and all that.

I don't want to be the Grinch.

Excuse me?

I was looking for Paige. You see, I have some ideas--

You have some ideas?

Yes on the Callaway acquisition, but she's not here.

Well?

Well, suggestions based on my research.

See, analyzing what Callaway's competitors are doing

might show us whether their profit figures are bogus

or if they just got lucky.

I admire initiative in a woman.

You bring those suggestions by my office

and I'll go over them with you personally.

I might even have a few

suggestions of my own?

I really need to work on them for just a little bit longer.

[in Spanish] Mi oficina es su oficina.

Uh-uh... Did you notice?

Last week, Arne Becker wore one exactly like this.

Oh.

I don't want to sound presumptuous

but because you came to me for advice

I'll tell you that I found that things work best

when you go through proper channels.

Put your suggestions in writing

and submit them to your immediate supervisor

who will bring them to the attention

of his or her division manager

who will put them on the agenda for the weekly staff meeting.

-Thank you, Bob. -You're welcome.

-Where do you want to eat? -I can't. Michael.

I've got too much work to do tonight.

I thought we were going Christmas shopping.

Oh, I know. Can you handle it? Please.

Please? I'll make it up to you.

You never like what I buy.

Oh, I love it. I promise.

You have the list of everyone at the office, right?

-Yes. -Take Mort's name off the list.

[voice on the speaker] Doctor Kelso Doctor Ring Kelso.

please report to Psychiatric web.

Hi. How is he?

He's asleep.

-Well, can I go and see him? -Oh, sure.

Honey, you were supposed to keep her away.

Mom, look, I did my best, okay?

I mean, if he's asleep he's not gonna know

the difference anyway, will he?

You're right. You are right.

It's just, well, I'm sorry, I'm tense.

I'm just a little, little tense.

A little?

[nervous laughs]

[Claudia sighs]

[dramatic music]

You better wake up, you son of a b*tch.

-1885. -Here's what I'm looking for.

No, it's not it.

This is a precedent that's relevant.

Now, where's the rest of the brief?

Well, I can have it to you by 9:00.

The hearing starts at 8:00.

-I have it to you by 6:00. -6:00?

-6:00. -In the morning.

-6:00. -6:00.

Hi Julie, night Julie. 6:00.

[Frank sighs]

You know you're always breathing down my neck

about not finishing my homework. Look at you.

I'll finish it.

But it's late.

Well, I didn't get a chance

to spend as much time at the office today

as I usually do.

So you're going to be up all night?

Yeah, it's worth it.

-Little babe? -What?

I'm not going to die.

-Why did you say that? -Because I miss your Mom too.

I know how much you miss her.

I know, believe me.

I also know that you're worried about me.

Don't.

I'm going to stick around.

I'll be here for you, baby.

I'm gonna be there when you graduate

from high school.

I'll be there when you graduate from college.

When you get married.

Your dusty old Daddy is gonna be right here.

Alive and kicking.

And I'm gonna keep bugging the hell out of you, too.

That's a promise.

-Listen, I'll make a deal. -What?

If you stay out of my classes

I'll stay in school.

[Frank chuckles] Deal.

I love you.

-What? -I love you.

[emotional music]

[machines beeping]

[emotional music continues]

Yeah, I'm just afraid that if Kate

spends another night here she'll get physically I'll.

Could you take her home for me?

Okay, I'll take her home.

Thank you, I really appreciate that.

I'll let you know if there's any change.

-Okay, bye. -Bye, bye.

-Paige? -What?

Paige.

No, Paige isn't here.

It's me, Claudia.

I'll take care of you.

I could lose my job for giving you

the figures you asked for.

I could end my career before it even starts.

Callaway Industries

is the Sumner Group's latest acquisition

and it's most profitable subsidiaries.

Always looking for qualified personnel.

-Is that a firm job offer? -You have my word.

I'll take your word and Mr. Callaway's signature.

These aren't the figures I asked for.

This is a contingency contract

guaranteeing my employment with Callaway Industry

if I should I be terminated here for any reason.

I've also included fees for a defense attorney

should the need arise.

This is a freelance contract.

For my services to your company

while I'm still employed in my present position.

I'll be paid as a consultant FSO through my loan out company

which doesn't have my name on it.

This contract also includes legal indemnification.

Kiss on the hand may be quite continental

but contracts are girl's best friend.

I like your style.

Let me know when Mr. Callaway has signed them.

[eerie music]

Hey Carla, can we get back?

Because my next class starts in 20 minutes.

Let's wait a bit, we're five minutes for school.

Yeah, no, I know.

Hey, how long are your parents gonna be out of town?

Oh, just till tonight.

But I've to return the car in mint condition

so watch the food, okay?

-Oh, watch it man. -I mean it Jason.

-I didn't do anything. -The hell you didn't.

You're kidding?

-You guys, quit it, so I can-- -Come on! Come on!

-Ow, what are you doing man? -Stop it!

Stop! Stop! Get off now! Jason, you're hurting me, man.

-Jason, get off me. -Stop!

Jason quit it, stop it right now!

Jason, come on--

[police officer] Pull over the car please.

Now you'll see, idiot.

Oh, way to go, guys.

Everybody just relax, it's only a ticket.

Shut up everybody. I don't have a driver's license.

Oh, great.

[police siren wailing]

And what happened to our deal?

We didn't plan to cut classes.

We would have been back in time if the police hadn't stopped us.

You're trying to tell me that you didn't know

this young lady did not have a driver's license.

-No, I didn't. -Thank you.

-Dad, can we take Jason home? -No.

Is just his father's out of town

and he's going to have to stay here all night.

Unless you say that he's with us.

-Where does he live? -Give me a second, I'll ask him.

I'm glad you're here. I'm going to k*ll that kid.

That kid got some mouth.

Like you.

I appreciate the ride home, Mr. Williams.

-Damn. -What?

What?

I just forgot about a class.

I got a 4:00 class. I'm going to miss it.

You can drop me off anywhere, Sir.

Right by your house is fine. Matt.

Mack?

-Mack? -What?

-Yeah, I'll take him. -Thanks.

You don't have to take me home Sir.

I'll take you home.

[radio playing loud music]

[Val] Karen, it's Gary with you?

Here? Why he'd be here?

I was just.

Just guessing, hoping that he might

have stopped by there for a visit.

You know, I've been racking my brains

trying to figure out where he might be.

I called the library.

I even had him paged to the zoo.

-I'm just so worried. -Why?

-He has the kids. -And?

Karen, I said he has the kids.

-Well, what's wrong with that? -Everything.

See, they had half day school today

and we agreed that he'd pick them up but.

-They're not here yet. -Well, they supposed to be?

Well, Val, maybe they stayed in after school care.

No, no, no, I've already called.

Then he took them for ice cream.

-It is not a big deal. -It is a big deal Karen

I should never have let him pick them up.

Something awful is going to happen to them

and I'm going to blame myself.

Val.

Wait a minute, I haven't tried

the frozen yogurt place.

Val, I don't think...

-Thanks. -Sure enough.

Look, so you really don't have to give me a ride.

You know, you high school dropouts don't realize

is that 10 years from now you'll be working

for your classmates who stayed in school.

-I'm not a dropout. -No? What are you?

Playing Royals screwed up a low-rent JD.

Look, kid.

Are you really big

in the sermon department, aren't you?

Fights for every occasion.

You could probably make a living at it.

You got a mouth.

Yeah, so what?

I didn't ask for you to give me a ride.

I, no sermons. Let's go.

Let me ask you something.

-Sermon? -Not a sermon, a question.

Isn't it worth it sometimes to, I don't know, just to go along.

Be nice. Is nice so hard?

I mean in the long run, Jason, isn't it?

Isn't it less trouble to stay out of trouble

than to be in trouble?

That wasn't a question. That was three questions.

And you made it sound like a sermon.

Don't even think a light man.

What's your father going to say

when he finds out you miss classes today?

My father's dead.

[eerie music]

Val, you're making too much of this.

I'm making too much of losing my children.

Meg, oh, boy, I really love the colors in your drawing.

Val, let's discuss this in the kitchen.

Karen, they should have been home hours ago.

-Val. -What?

Don't.

Bobby and Betsy are having so much fun with Gary.

They probably don't want to rush home.

Karen, I can't help the way I--

Hey guys, okay, watch out.

Sweeties where have you been?

Gary, hi.

Where have you been?

We stopped for hamburgers and a movie.

How did you keep them out this long?

I have been worried sick.

The hamburger only took maybe an extra 5 minutes.

I am not talking about the hamburger

I am talking about the movie.

Movies take as long as movies take.

Don't you talk to me like that.

-Val. -Wait a minute.

What am I being accused of here?

Scaring me to death?

You took the kids without my knowledge.

Without my permission.

Without your permission. Wait a minute.

We discussed this yesterday.

The kids wanted to see the film. I said I'd take them. We agreed.

This is the first that I have ever heard of that.

That's not true.

See I told you that he called me a liar the other day.

You didn't believe me, did you?

Val, I don't think--

Gary I am not going to put up with this kind of behavior.

I'm not going to put myself through this anymore.

[eerie music]

I did tell. I'm not making this up.

It's strange the way it happened.

Dad was watching the windshield with a tank filled self-serve.

Some jerk just threw a cigarette butt on the ground

and drove away.

And the automatic shut off didn't work.

So...

Grab the nozzle.

Gas ignited.

I probably would have been k*lled too

but I was inside the station.

Dad wanted me to get some sodas.

Watch the whole thing through the window.

Until I attended, pulled me out back.

He was running around like one of those Vietnam guys

you know, in those movies covered with napalm and stuff.

I always filled the tank.

It was like kind of my job, you know?

Dad liked me to do it.

But for some stupid reason,

that-that day I couldn't get that stupid cap

off that gas tank and so he had to do it for me.

And, I got the sodas.

Thanks for the ride.

Is anyone home?

I got my own key.

Mr. McKenzie.

Please don't tell my foster parents

about what happened today.

I mean, none of us knew

that Carla didn't have her license.

And if they find out

they'll have to tell my social worker.

I'll go back to juvenile hall.

So there I am, Mr. High and Mighty

telling this kid after I've prejudged it

telling him how to live his life.

No kid should go through what this kids been through.

Amen.

But it explains so much.

Now I understand why he's so angry.

People think foster child

means there's something wrong with the child

when most foster children are foster children

because of something the adults did.

You know, those baseball tickets we have

The answer is no, I don't mind.

You can give him to Jason.

How'd you know?

-Because I know you. -Thanks.

Oh boy.

All this talk about Jason

just gets me all more concerned about Val and Gary

and what they're doing to their kids.

You mean, getting married, Not getting married.

Yeah.

I've never seen them like this before

especially Val.

She's just, so unreasonable.

She's so extreme.

Extreme? Val's always been extreme.

I mean, I love her, but call Val extreme

is like calling Magic Johnson

a basketball player.

This is different Mac.

Maybe there's something wrong?

She's not telling anyone.

Maybe there's just something wrong.

Period.

-Goodnight, honey. -Goodnight.

Excuse me. Hi, I'm Mac McKenzie.

-How you doing? -Hello Mack.

Is Jason in?

-Is who in? -Jason.

You've got the wrong house. There's no Jason living here.

No Jason, not here.

Oh, well, I'm sorry to bother you.

-Thank you. -You're welcome.

Well, I'm about all shopped out.

Here's the profile.

Oh good. What does it say?

Well, in a nutshell, the figures that Callaway

been reporting seem accurate.

Good news. Thanks.

Paige, thanks for going shopping with me.

I had a lot of fun.

It was my pleasure.

Let's go to the hospital.

I, no, no, I mean, not right away.

I have class to go to.

I've missed about a week since he's been sick, so.

Well, I'm going to the hospital.

Okay. Oh, do you mind if I use your phone?

-No, be my guest. -Okay. Thanks.

[Kate] Hi. Uh, Mom?

-Hi. -Oh, Mort.

Here's the profile on Callaway's competitor.

Oh, yeah, what do they say?

Well, the figures that they've been using

seem to be accurate.

How did you get these done so quick?

Lost supplies don't work.

Yeah, Mom, listen

she's on her way over to the hospital right now.

Honey, you are not helping this situation.

Mom, listen, I did my best.

I mean, anyway, this thing is is so stupid.

I mean, she loves him

and if she loves him what does she care

what he looks like when he's sick?

You're right, honey. You're absolutely right.

What could I have been thinking of?

He's sick. Have no right to pride or privacy.

-Mom, listen. Goodbye, okay? -Goodbye.

My little romantic.

Thanks for nothing.

[eerie music]

Northside Hospital, how may I help you?

Yes, West Wing please. Nurses station.

West Wing, nurses station.

This is Claudia Whitaker, my brother Greg Sumner.

Well he's been complaining of intense pain

can't seem to sleep well the for any length of time.

Could you please ask the doctor if he would consider

increasing either or both medications.

It's just awful to seem him like this.

I'll check with his doctor, Mrs Whitaker

Thank you very much.

[eerie music]

[pleasant music]

[eerie music]

Leave me alone. Cut it out. Stop it.

Ow, that hurts.

Ow,

Cut it out.

Stop it.

[glass breaking]

Ow.

Hey, Jason, how you doing? Hey, wait a minute.

You okay?

Yeah, yeah, I was just playing with Randy.

-Your brother? -No, my german shepherd.

Sometimes doesn't stop when I tell him to.

Well, I heard all that yelling I was worried.

-You're okay? -Yeah.

Wait a minute, Jason. I gotta

I gotta a pair of Laker tickets for Saturday night.

I can't use them. They're yours if you want.

-No, that's okay. -Come on, you are afraid.

You sure you're okay?

Yeah, I'm fine.

How you feeling?

The same old Greg.

Where you been?

I've been Christmas shopping.

Everything's fine at the office.

The Callaway Acquisitions is on track.

Life goes on without me.

I want to marry you.

You heard me. I'll marry you.

-Why? -For your money.

That's the right answer.

Call up the preacher.

Do you, Paige

take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband

to having to hold from this day forward,

for better or worse

for richer, for poorer

in sickness and in health

until parted by death?

I do.

Nick, Paige.

With the power invested in me by the state of Nevada

I pronounce you husband and wife.

Kiss the bride if you want to.

I agree, Greg Sumner

do hereby revoke all wills and codicils

that I have previously made.

I appoint Claudia Sumner Whitaker

as executive to serve without bond.

I give all my property to--

Sign, sealed and delivered,

should I have had them notarized?

[eerie music]

I feel like I've just won World w*r Two.

-How about a drink? -No thanks.

You don't mix business and pleasure.

What's the difference?

I've got to get back to class.

Well, do you know anything about his homeless?

Such as?

Well, do you know anything about

his foster parents?

Foster parents? He's not a foster child.

He lives with his parents, his father.

I know for a fact

that Jason Lochner lives with his father.

He's active in the PTA.

Look got around.

Thank you.

You do understand I can't diagnose anything

without seeing the patient in person

-Yeah. -Of course.

Well, what you've described

it's a number of types of brain damage.

My God,

it doesn't have to be fatal.

It doesn't have to be permanent.

Now you said she exhibits a sense of dread or doom.

She smells smoke when there is none

taste metal in her drinking water when no one else does.

She forgets things she said or did

especially what happened when she was

for lack of a better phrase, not herself.

She has periods of intense mood swings

and equally telling periods of return to her old self.

This behavior can result from a number of causes

including a mild stroke.

You said she had a bad fall.

Yeah, she hit her head.

Well, that fits something as simple

as a temporal lobe seizure.

Now, that's treatable, reversible

may even disappear on its own

But it also could be permanent.

I presume the worst.

Until we have a chance to examine her.

Bring her in, and let us check her out

Do we have anything to worry about?

I mean, like with the kids.

A person with a temporal lobe seizure

is not violent, if that's the question.

Bring her in.

I mean he wanted me to see some doctor.

And my neighbor you know my closest friend.

She went right along with him.

Could you believe that?

I mean, I don't need to see any doctor.

I've never felt better in my life

and you've never looked better.

Well, Gary's the one that needs to see a doctor.

I love it. It looks great.

Yeah, it's perfect.

-Barbara! -[Betsy] Come on.

We're going to get in trouble.

[Betsy] No, we won't.

We'll go back inside before Mommy comes home.

-Come on! -No!

-You're a big chicken. -No, I'm not.

-Yes, you are. -No, I'm not.

-Yes, you are. -No, I'm not.

Chicken. Come on.

Yay.

Oh, no. I dropped Maxine.

-[narrator] Next on Knots Landing... -What's that?

These are CDs for Jason, Julie said he likes music

and he's not going to have much of a Christmas, you know.

Now I realize I can lose my job for doing this.

There is so much money at stake.

I felt I had to take the risk.

[man on phone] Paige Matheson got married.

Any comment from your brother?

-Can you turn around? -No.

Mommy!
