- I've been working with tools my whole fring-dinglin' life

And I've always been careful.

I don't know how much more of this I can take!

- I'll tell you one thing, my trusty sidekick:

Making sure everyone is super-careful is super-tiring.

- [Beeps]

It gets dark at night. - Hmm?

- And darkness is the enemy of carefulness and safety!

Someone could bump into something or trip.

Only one thing to do!

- [Murmuring]

- It's sunny out, but it's nighttime?!

Now, this is surprising!

- I wonder what's going on?

- This is kind of scary, you guys.

- Ah, I've got a pretty good idea.

- Funshine. Except now he's wearing a towel

And calling it a cape... And ruining everyone's fun.

- [Beeping and clicking]

- Care-ful bear doesn't want anyone to have any accidents at night,

So he's making sure it's light out all the time.

- [Yawns]

But if it's always daytime, when will there be a bedtime?

- Yeah!

- [Sighs] I'd better go have a talk with care-ful bear.

- Um, maybe you could talk to him in the morning?

Right now it's bright as day and we haven't been able to have any fun,

So why don't we do something fun now?

- Ah, we could have a picnic!

- Oh, I love picnics! - Great idea!

- [Laughter]

- What's this?

The sound of careless laughter?!

This is a job for care-ful bear!

- [Cheering, laughing]

- What are you doing?!

- Having a picnic, funshine. Why don't you join us?

- The name is care-ful bear, and--marshmallows?!

Sure they're yummy, but do you have any idea how many injuries

They caused last year?!

- No.

- And that's not even counting the ones that were toasted!

- [Grunts]

- [Sigh] so much for the picnic.

The kind of bear who always wanted everyone to have fun!

- What's so great about fun? If it wasn't for me...

The old me...pushing everyone to have so much fun,

Share wouldn't have gotten hurt.

It was just an accident, and sometimes accidents

- Hmm. - [Beeping and clicking]

- Wingnut says like when you stubbed your toe.

That was an accident, too!

- Hmph, if care-ful bear can't avoid having a little accident,

What makes you think you can keep everybody else

From having them?

- Well, you know what I think?

I think it's time for care-ful bear

To go back to being funshine bear again.

- Yay! - Funshine's back!

- I can tell that what I was doing as care-ful bear

Was starting to get everyone annoyed and upset with me.

- [Giggles] maybe a little.

- A little? He took my marshmallow!

I'll bring a fresh bag to the next picnic.

- [Cheering]

- [Cheering, laughing]

- Uh, anybody want to help me out of this stuff?

[Crashing, clattering]

- Whoa!

Everyone gets a little grumpy sometimes. It's normal.

- Well, maybe grumpy is grumpier than usual.

And we're just the care bears to do it!

- I'm not sure that's such a good idea.

I'm gonna ungrump the grumpster! I'm sure I can do it!

He's probably just got a case of the indoor bluesies

From being cooped up working in this garage all the time.

I'll get him out for a while, and he'll be good as new!

- Wait! - For what?

- So we can have a chance to get clear of the grumpy zone!

- Cowards.

- What do you want?

- I have a surprise for you!

- I don't have time for any yim yammin' surprises!

H-hey! Wh-what's going on?

- This is something you really need!

- This isn't something I can just give you.

But what I do need is to finish my work!

- I called this emergency meeting because it's our duty

As care bears to look out for others,

And grumpy's in need of some caring!

- Even if it means facing some of his grumpiness first-hand?

- [All gasp] - yes!

Together, with my leadership, we can do this!

First wave: my special yummy-tummy pudding,

Which always brings a smile.

[Giggles] second wave: a surprise gift.

Everyone likes surprises!

And, if all else fails, a happy hot-air balloon trip

To cheer up grumpy!

Now, let's get out there and de-grumpify the grumpster!

- Ok!

- Now what? I'm busy!

- Ugh! [Spits] what is this?!

- Uh, pudding. [Nervous laugh]

- Pudding. Mimics laugh]

Well, next time try putting it in a bowl and not on me!

Geh! - Aah!

- What-what-what?!

Huh?

Oh, good. These must be the new parts I ordered.

- Surprise! - [Gasps]

Jumping jibble-fritters!

- Ha ha. This special surprise is just for you, grumpy!

- And this is for you!

- You know, it kinda seems like grumpy might be busy

Working on something.

- Well, I'm pulling out the big cheer!

Funshine, you and share go get the balloon ready!

- But...

- Grumpy's going for a ride, and I'm gonna make certain

It cheers him up!

It has to be perfect!

- There's no way grumpy will be in a bad mood

After a ride through the clouds around care-a-lot.

Take it away, love-a-lot!

- I love balloons!

- But how are we gonna get grumpy into the balloon?

- Easy. I've got it all worked out.

First, we use this duck call and this gps triangulator

To locate the best place to send the balloon.

- [Gasps]

- The sound of the duck call will get grumpy's attention--

- Uh, cheer... I think you should...

- Um, please don't interrupt, oopsy.

- But, cheer...

- When grumpy comes out of his garage,

Funshine will distract him by juggling these pinwheels.

That will give me and share time to move the balloon

Into position...

- Ugh! How'd the trash can get over here?

Aah!

- And that's how we'll get--[gasps]--

Grumpy into the air?!

- Aah! Help!

No! Not my roof! Bumpin' tum-bumblers, get me down now!

- What we need is a new plan...

- He seems awful grumpy.

I don't think I want to do any more.

- Me, either.

- Maybe grumpy doesn't want to be cheered up.

Maybe he's not even being grumpy.

Maybe something else is going on.

Did you ever think of that?

- Hmm, I think we just need to try something more simple!

- [All sigh]

- Huh? Whew. Uh, come on, wingnut.

We're gonna have to go downtown to pick up some more parts.

- This little greeting card will let grumpy know that his friends

Are thinking of him and lighten up his dark mood.

[Gasps] oh, grumpy?

I never noticed how dirty, dingy, dark, and depressing this garage is.

No wonder grump's been in a bad mood.

No one could be happy here!

I am gonna undarken, unclutter, and de-icky oily

This gloomy garage!

Ew!

- [Grunts] I hope these new parts are the answer.

This project's really been a puzzler.

And so many interruptions!

[Gasps]

- Don't you love it?

Aren't these curtains darling?

And these throw pillows are to die for!

You've just gotta be in a better mood!

- [Sniffing] wh-what's that smell?

- Potpourri!

It smelled too oily in here. Isn't this better?

- My garage was just how I liked it!

You had no business changing things!

- I was only trying to help.

- I don't want your help. Or anyone else's!

Ooh, this doesn't even feel like my garage!

I never had curtains or pillows

Or a fancy-smelling potty tree!

- Uh, that's "potpourri."

- Well, they both stink!

- [Gasps]

- Hmm, maybe we've been kinda doing things

That would cheer us up.

- Yeah, not things that would cheer you up, grumpy.

- Hmm, I guess funshine and share are right.

The things I like aren't the same as the things you like.

- We never asked you what you've been working on

Or why you seemed extra grumpy.

- Well, I appreciate what you all tried to do,

But I haven't been grumpy-- at least not more than usual.

- [Sighs]

- Hey, what's wrong with wingnut?

- That's what I've been working on!

He's been sluggish and rundown.

I tried everything to perk up the little guy,

But nothing seems to help.

I haven't been grumpy. I've been frustrated.

I--i just can't figure it out.

- What did you do?

- Well, I installed a special spring for bouncing,

Some fancy lights, a fun fan for cooling himself...

Even an mp3 player!

- I'm sorry I didn't take the time to find out

What was really going on with you...

But do you think maybe you're doing the same thing with wingnut?

- Hoppin' hamcakes! You're right!

Wingnut, I'm sorry I got so wrapped up in thinking about

What I should do to fix you, I didn't bother to ask...

So, so what do you need?

- [Beeps]

- [Chuckles] of course! He's low on oil!

- [Rapid beeps] - yay!

Wingnut feels better!

- And you know what? I'm not frustrated anymore!

Just grumpy as usual!

- Do you mean grumpy grumpy? Or grumpy back to normal?

- All back to normal!

- Me, too! - [Beeping]

- Everyone's less grumpy!

- Now...heh. What about the hole in my roof?

- Oh, sorry about that.

- We'll all work together to patch it right away!
