[Heidi] The winner of Project Runway

My review from the judges was scathing

during the couture show.

But I'm just so proud to have made it

Are you ready for your next challenge?

You're not going to get it on the runway.

L'Oréal Paris is hosting a little party for you tonight.

And I'll tell you about your challenge there.

The only thing I'll say is that I've invited some very...

special guests.

And they will be an important part

of this challenge.

[Jeffrey] I have mixed emotions about the L'Oréal party

because it's gonna be a trap.

It's not gonna be a party.

At all.

It's never a [bleep] party.

I'll see you there.

[Uli] All righty.

[Kayne] We ended up showing up

at this really kind of chic club

called the Pink Elephant.

And it was very, very cool on the inside.

Kids, we have to have a toast.

You know, just livin' it up,

waitin' to receive our next challenge.

We thought maybe it'd be some celebrity

that needed an outfit designed.

Can I have you guys gather around?

All right, before I tell you

about your next challenge,

I want to introduce our special guests.

And there are two of them.

[suspenseful music playing]

[Heidi] Okay, so let's welcome our first guest.

[laughter]

[Vincent] Oh, you guys are so nice. All right.

[Heidi] We told you from the beginning of the competition

that there were other benefits

to winning challenges.

This is it.

Angela won the Macy's challenge.

And Vincent won the everyday woman challenge.

So we're giving them a chance to come back.

[Heidi] We decided to give everyone who won a challenge

a second chance.

Kayne. Uli.

Michael. Jeffrey.

Each of you won a challenge

and would've been given this same opportunity

if you had been sent home.

[Heidi] I said it was getting harder, no?

that her team members carried a hell of a lot of weight

in that challenge for her.

[Angela] Everybody's gonna be thinking that.

Because I know that people like Jeffrey don't like me.

[Jeffrey] Let's go.

[Tim] Good morning, designers.

[designers] Morning, Tim.

[Tim] May I ask you to gather round, please?

I want to welcome back Angela and Vincent.

We want to insure

that the right three people

are those who are standing for the final three.

So you're just going to have to each prove

how capable you are of going

to Olympus Fashion Week.

Okay?

For this challenge, you will be designing

a c*ck party outfit, using black and white fabric.

Because you're each using the same color palette,

this challenge is really about the design

and silhouette of your look.

This challenge is also about the makeup and styling

of your model.

You will have 15 minutes to sketch.

You have a budget of $100.

And you have one day to pull this together.

Angela.

Do we have to use black and white,

or can we choose one or the other?

[Tim] You have to use black and white.

-[Angela] Okay. -[Tim] All right?

I'll be back in 15 minutes.

[upbeat music playing]

[Kayne] My design for this challenge

is going to be a very edited c*ck dress.

Very simple in the front.

And then crazy sexy in the back.

I was trying to come up with sort of

a youthful silhouette.

So I did sort of a baby-doll dress, with a--

a low, square neckline.

I'm definitely not feeling as sure

as I have in the past

that I can get to the final three.

I'm definitely starting to doubt myself

a little more now.

[Tim] Okay.

Designers, are you ready?

Before we leave, there is one other criterion

to this challenge.

The fabric that you purchase at Mood--

you must use all of it.

[Vincent] Right before we went shopping,

and he said to us that we have to use

every piece of fabric we buy, which is insane.

[Tim] All of it must go into this look.

You mean even the scraps?

Mm-hmm.

[Laura] It's gonna be crucial

that we not buy an extra inch of fabric.

'Cause that's just gonna be more fabric

that somehow you have to work into the design.

What the [bleep]?

[Heidi] Coming up on Project Runway...

[Jeffrey] Probably more than anyone,

I never, ever wanted to see Angela again.

[Vincent] The more that things progress,

the more you see the true nature of people.

It's getting a little too ugly.

[upbeat music playing]

[Kayne] You know what, let's just keep this.

I think I love this.

We have to make a c*ck outfit.

And we could only use black or white fabric.

Let's just say 30, and I'll eat the rest.

[laughs]

We have to use all of our fabric for the challenge.

And it's a little bit stressful to hear that,

because we want to buy a little extra

in case we make any mistakes,

to make sure we don't run out of fabric, and--

Just it was gonna mean that we had to be really smart

about how much fabric we were buying.

Yeah, and a yard of this. Do this first.

I looked at all the sketches,

and I picked the fabric

and figured in between there

and coming back that I would come up

with something that I could put together.

How wide is this?

I need to change this to ivory.

[Uli] I found a great print.

I'm gonna do a hippie,

beach party c*ck dress.

[Tim] Okay, everybody, let's go.

[Kayne] Buenos días.

Let's get busy.

Heidi said it was gonna get hard,

and boy, was she not kidding.

Because we've allowed two h*ifers to come back.

Three designers will go home.

[Michael Knight] It was a simple, um, c*ck dress.

Off-the-shoulder, asymmetrical deal

with a cummerbund belt to it.

A matte jersey 'cause it's easy to work with.

And I know I can make a great dress out of it.

[Angela] I'm doing a leather shrug

with an Edwardian collar,

lined in off-white charmeuse.

I think that I'm taking some risks

that are admirable.

But I'm still retaining my fingerprint.

[Jeffrey] I had this idea for a dress

that was a longer dress.

So I-- I turned it into a mini

to make it hot and sexy, you know,

for a little c*ck party.

I wanna have a third win

just to be able to say, "I've got a third win."

And also because I know

that my winning the last challenge

[bleep] pissed everybody off.

-How much did they give you? -A yard and a half.

Oh, oh, my God.

That's not cool.

When I got back in, I realized

I overbought fabric.

And I'm like, "Oh, great."

There's no way-- no way I can eat this up.

That's not right.

It's not good.

Wow, I'm screwed on this one.

So it kinda bummed me big.

I hope I can get it together.

Come up with something else to do

with that excessive fabric.

But we're gonna have to wait and see.

[driving techno music playing]

[Kayne] Okay.

[Jeffrey] Probably more than anyone,

never, ever,

ever, ever, ever, ever, ever

wanted to see Angela again.

[Jeffrey laughs]

[Uli] Jeffrey and Uli, you're out.

[laughter]

[Vincent] The more that things progress,

[Laura] Yeah.

[Vincent] And it's-- it's getting a little too ugly,

uh, for my taste.

But you don't feel like we're treating you badly

because you're back, do you?

I'm seeing people's colors as the thing goes on,

It's startin' to look like something else.

When I started looking at Kayne's garment,

it just started to look a little...

And I didn't even have to say that's what it looked like.

He just knew what I meant.

Actually, if you take that belt off,

and all this--

This looks really designer and clean.

[Kayne] Just look at this for a second

and tell me your honest opinion.

[Michael Knight] It cheapens your dress.

I'm really trying to just make sure

that he's not going overboard.

[Kayne] Okay. I got it under control.

-[Michael Knight] You got it? -No.

[laughs]

Designers, can I have your attention

for just a moment, please?

You are going to have half an hour

with your models for a preliminary fitting.

And I'm going to be sending the models in right away.

Okay.

Put your hand on your waist like that for me.

And it'll be flowy and loose on the body.

-Okay. -This is for the whole dress.

I'd call it more of a shrug because it's backless.

It goes up like that.

Those can come off.

I'm, like, exhausted.

I thought I'd gotten to a certain point

in the competition,

and then they brought people back.

Yeah.

-Like? -Like the...

[Laura] My model seemed a little unsure

about what I was doing.

I think she was as shocked as I was,

you know, to get slammed

on the runway during the couture challenge.

And she was trying to be helpful

about designing a more youthful look.

-I know, but we ha-- -I mean, instead of white.

I know, I know. I had to use the white.

I'm just gonna, um, do what I do best

from here on out and see how far that gets me.

I have no idea how it's gonna be received

by the judges.

I'm worried about what's gonna happen tomorrow.

[Tim] Hi, everybody.

I am delighted to welcome Collier Strong,

consulting makeup artist for L'Oréal Paris.

Collier is here to talk about your makeup

and styling for this challenge.

Collier?

So, as you know,

since it's, um, a black-and-white challenge,

the only use of color can be

on the skin and with the makeup.

We can really create the perfect accessory

for the look that you're designing.

Be thinking about it, and then I'll meet with you

so we can, um, kind of brainstorm

and come up with a great look.

And we're going to begin with Jeffrey.

All right.

-Smoky and dramatic in the eyes. -[Collier] Okay.

All right, make her face

kind of luminescent,

and then you just have these dark eyes

that are just really sexy.

I kind of love this.

Isn't that beautiful? Look at that.

-It's like baby-doll. -And look--exactly.

[Laura] Yeah, 'cause it's a baby-doll shape dress.

Love that. Create, like, this graphic shape

coming from underneath the eye,

instead of on top of it.

I like it.

What we could do is actually

line her eyes

with a color instead of with black.

So modern. So hip, so hip.

What about doing the smoky eye

in a dark purple, as opposed to black?

I'm all about it.

Very kind of '70s, beach chic.

[Uli] Because the whole feeling of the dress

will be kind of '70s.

First thing that came to my mind

is, like, this Chinese opera,

which is, like, you know,

like a little lip right there.

[Angela] You nailed it. I'm very happy.

And I'm making some tights out of this.

It looks kinda like leather,

just sorta rock-n-roll, shiny.

[Tim] Oh, Jesus.

I'd call it a trim.

for this challenge, this is really ambitious.

I'm a little, uh--

bit of a broken spirit after the last challenge.

You know, I can't exhaust myself

trying to design for the Olsen twins.

-No, I know. -I think what I've decided

is I have to just be happy with what I send out.

[Tim] Yeah.

I guess my self-doubt has come about

because I was so positive

going into that last challenge.

And I just got blind-sided out of nowhere.

So that really sort of shook me up.

I wanted to make a change in my life,

a big career change.

But now I'm just too tired.

It's just--it's just getting exhausting.

I trust you're gonna figure this out.

-Yeah. -And you will.

[sighs]

I do like the dress I'm making.

And hopefully, I'll be successful.

But now I'm just trying to get through tomorrow.

Maybe if two challenges seems too far to go,

if I can get through this one,

maybe one challenge.

[Uli] I think today is the biggest,

the most exciting elimination day.

And three of us are gonna go home,

so it's gonna be crazy.

[Kayne] I think I definitely dropped the ball

a little bit on this challenge.

But I still rocked it out, and I love the dress.

[Tim] I will be sending in the models soon.

I feel I definitely had one of the stronger pieces

I would wear to a c*ck party.

[Laura] I definitely designed the silhouette

for a different person completely.

I know I like my dress,

but I have no idea how it's gonna be received

by the judges.

We managed to get the dress on her,

but she's a lot bigger in the hip.

We were gonna go with sort of a fresh, young pink

to sort of counteract the fact that my dresses

on the dress, you know, 'cause I didn't have much time.

But in fashion,

sometimes you get a second chance.

Each of you once won a challenge.

So we brought you back.

The only way for you to avoid elimination again

is to win this challenge.

But either way, three of you will be going home tonight.

Your challenge was to design an outfit

for a c*ck party,

using only black and white fabric.

We asked you to use all of the fabric

that you purchased in the final look.

We gave you $100,

one day to put it together,

and the services of Collier Strong,

[designers] Hi, Michael.

Nina Garcia, fashion director of ELLE magazine.

[designers] Hello.

And our very special guest, designer Zac Posen.

-Thank you for having me. -Hello.

We'll score your designs as they come down the runway.

One of you will be named the winner.

And three of you will be out.

Let's start the show.

[upbeat music playing]

[Angela] I loved the shrug.

I just absolutely love that silhouette.

And the dress-- I felt good about it.

I thought that there might be a chance that I could win.

I was very happy with how everything turned out.

[Kayne] It was a lot of black,

but I thought Amanda rocked it out

and looked so good.

I felt pretty strong that, uh, you know,

having a little bit of white was enough.

[Laura] It was just so Josephine Baker.

I could just see it, you know.

Paris, 1920s, with the silhouette

of the feathers and the little dress.

I loved the dress.

But I was just never sure what the judges

are gonna say anymore.

[Michael Knight] My dress definitely looked good

on the runway, because it was the only

white dress basically there.

Black people just look good in white.

It just looks great off our skin. I loved it.

It looked exactly what I wanted it to look.

[Jeffrey] I was really happy with the dress

and the thigh-high leggings

and thought the entire outfit

looked really sexy on Marilinda.

It's edgy, it's young.

It's totally hip.

[Uli] The dress showed that it was moving,

it was floaty, it was fun,

it was young, it was sexy.

And that's what I wanted to show.

And I was pretty happy with it.

[Vincent] Javi, she over-pumped the dress.

Which also made it look shorter.

But this was a golden opportunity for me

and I took advantage of it.

[suspenseful music playing]

[Heidi] We've scored your designs.

We want to ask all of you some questions.

So let's bring out your models.

Michael, I want to start with you.

I chose white.

Because it was a little simple,

I wanted to do a cummerbund-type belt.

And I cut out different floral shapes of it.

I really wanted something really edgy,

sexy, and sensual.

Zac.

I think it's incredibly, um, chic.

And--and simple.

The asymmetry is really nice. It's very flattering.

I think you did an excellent job.

[Nina] As always, I like your total look.

The earrings, the bag,

everything is helping your design.

It looks cool. It looks very modern.

I'm curious. Is that exactly--

You had the right amount of fabric?

I just lined the inside of the purse.

I just kept lining and kept lining it.

-What do you mean? -Oh, really?

[Michael Knight] On the inside of the purse,

it's lined with the white.

Really impeccable.

-Thank you. -Vincent,

tell us about your dress.

Okay, we worked with cottons.

Basically, matte and shine.

It's a polished sateen with a soft eyelet.

I did all this by hand, so it took

quite a lot of time.

I don't like this.

I think the proportion is wrong.

The length of that dress makes it look--

-Cheapish. -Cheap.

When it should be a c*ck dress

and look chic.

The cape...

is really problematic with the dress to me.

It was the-- the extra material.

Can you hold up the cape

over the black skirt?

And lengthen it? Like, extend the skirt down

right above her knee.

[Heidi] It just would've been a bit more elegant.

[Zac] And so much chicer.

I love short clothes, but this is better.

It's--it's elegant.

Uli, tell us about your dress.

As I couldn't choose crazy colors,

I went for the print.

And I made a dress which is kind of

a fun c*ck party dress.

Probably goes more in the warmer environment,

like Miami

or St. Tropez.

And I stuffed all the extra fabric

basically in a stocking

and made a necklace out of it.

I think it's cute.

Is the necklace attached to the dress?

No, it's extra, so I can take it off.

[Michael Kors] The necklace drives me crazy.

I know. I had to do something.

They look like pool floats.

[Nina] I think the sleeves are a little long.

And I think there's--

The thing is, I just wanted them to kind of end

-on the same level, but-- -[Nina] Yeah.

But I find that heavy when it ends on the same level.

[Michael Kors] I want it taller, leaner, longer.

-More delicate. -Yeah, fragile.

Angela. Tell us about your dress.

Well, I just really loved the high neckline

and the grace of the proportion.

And I think it's very, very modern.

But very, very Edwardian.

I made the dress a little bit shorter

and made it bare in the back.

And usually, when I'm merchandising handbags,

I always put muslin in there.

So the extra is in the handbag.

You know, you want to make it inspirational,

but also, you need to make it realistic.

-It's a little overwhelming. -[Michael Kors] Costumey.

[judges] Costumey.

And the fabrication I-- to me--

and the back fabrication didn't feel rich.

-Did you make that bag? -No, I didn't.

Let's have a look in there.

[Nina] It's just a frame bag.

You don't really need to stuff this.

It was going to look fine without.

[Heidi] That to me is just like,

"Let me just shove it in there,

and hopefully, no one sees it," kind of thing.

Oh.

-Jeffrey. -Yes.

Tell us about your outfit.

When I heard c*ck party,

the first thing I thought of

were the last couple that I had gone to in L.A.

I just wanted to capture that spirit

with--with my dress.

I made the leggings,

and then all my extra fabric went into the belt.

[Michael Kors] I think young and edgy can still be chic.

And there's something about this

that doesn't look expensive.

It looks... a little cheap to me.

I did decidedly dress it down.

I think it can go more rock-n-roll

and more elegant.

-It can be both. -[Zac] Yeah.

You can turn up the volume, I guess.

[Zac] I think it can be edgier.

It would be interesting to see you

do something else, Jeffrey, besides this, you know,

hard rock, kind of L.A. look.

Laura.

Tell us about your c*ck dress.

I used the c*ck aspect to, um,

add this detail to the bottom.

I had to make a little bag.

I was able to use all my fabric.

I have nothing--

nothing left over.

This was absolutely it.

I think it's fun, but youthful.

Michael.

It's chic. It's perfectly made.

But so much more youthful

than where you've been going.

And also nice to see a young silhouette from you.

How great.

I mean, I think that's terrific.

I worked really hard on this.

[Zac] It shows. You can bring this to a store,

and a store would pick this up

and sell this.

I love the sparkles, too,

and I like that it's not all over the place.

-[Zac] It works. -[Michael Kors] It works.

It's another point of view that we had not seen from you.

Tell us about your dress.

I wanted to show you guys that I can edit

and give you something to be a versatile designer.

And, um, I really wanted to do kind of all black

with just little touches of white.

The front is so elegant,

and it's like Jekyll and Hyde for me

in the back because when I--

Can you turn?

You're highlighting it with this white ribbon

that doesn't look

sophisticated to me or sexy.

Why did you choose this white fabric?

Because my other trims and things just didn't work.

[Nina] I think it's great that you tried to do something

moving away from what you usually do.

But, um, I'm not crazy about it.

That you didn't use black and white.

Your white is so minimal.

[Heidi] Okay, we've heard what you had to say.

nice-looking boleros out there.

[Zac] Sure, that are romantic and antique-feeling.

when they do them.

And what did you think of Michael's dress?

I've gotta say, every time,

this guy really knows about head-to-toe presentation.

The right hair, the right shoe, the right bag,

the cool belt, the right proportion.

What about Vincent?

No sense of proportion.

They all have a little extra fabric.

He had that whole shawl, where he could have

just extended it.

[Michael Kors] I would've rather seen that

than that wacky--

Yeah, there was no excuse for that length.

He had the fabric, clearly.

Jeffrey.

When I first saw this walking down the runway,

I was like, "Wow, this is loud."

[Nina] I didn't--you know,

maybe bringing a luxury element

might be interesting.

I keep getting Gwen Stefani

over and over and over from him.

I'd like to see him stretch it.

How 'bout Uli?

I like the ease of the dress.

I like the ease of the construction of it.

What else are we gonna see from her?

So far, that's just the dress,

and the dress in different-- you know, versions.

[Michael Kors] Always. Every time, she's said,

"I live in hot weather.

I love hot weather." I got it, you know?
