It definitely is a wake-up call
that Ari's gone.

I really didn't think
she was gonna go home,

and it definitely woke everyone up.

on any challenge.

Getting kicked off
in the first challenge

is the nightmare of coming
onto Project Runway, I think.

I did not expect to see
the six people up there

that we saw up there.

Initially, I'm thinking,

Because she kept saying, you know,

"She's a supermodel,
and she has a TV show."

And I kept thinking,
Are we gonna make an outfit for Heidi?

And she has a big surprise for you.

She is a mommy-to-be.

Pregnancy challenge.

I have never done a pregnancy outfit
before in my life.

I would like to introduce to you

Rebecca Romijn.

Hi, Heidi.

Hello, everyone.

And she's having twins.

- Congratulations.

So far, being pregnant

has been a wonderful,
wonderful experience,

but finding fashionable
clothing while pregnant

has been very, very difficult.

You do look fabulous,
I have to say, though.

First I thought she should
come out in a bathing suit.

- Sports Illustrated style.

So guess what.
Your challenge will be to design

a pregnancy chic look for Rebecca.

My life definitely doesn't stop
just because I'm pregnant,

so the good news for you all

is that you get to create an outfit
for any type of event.

It might be something
for me to wear to a lunch

or to a business meeting

or to a party. It's up to you.

As a woman, you still want
to celebrate your shape,

so I'm looking for something
that has a beautiful silhouette.

everyone sees these
giant half-circle pillows,

and these are the bellies
for our models to wear,

which I love. I think it's so great.

why she was so wide.

I have immunity going
into the second challenge,

and I am not letting that deter me

from still doing something
that's appropriate for the challenge.

I want all those
winning dresses to be mine.

I want to know where,
since you're a mom,

where does the belly start?

Usually right under the boob area.

I was pregnant twice,

and when I had the big belly,

it was important to me
to show more shape

to my arms and my legs.

So that's what I'm trying to portray
with my outfit for Rebecca.

She looks like she's in
her early second semester...

As you know, for this challenge,

you are designing a pregnancy look.

This must be beautiful.

It must be chic.

And Rebecca has given you
one specific criterion.

She wants this look to be form-fitting.

shopping at Mood,

where you will have a budget of $100.

You have two days,

and the winner of this challenge

Designing for someone that's pregnant

is definitely a challenge for me.

I've never really had
a lot of pregnant women in my life.

That's not really my deal.

Babies kind of scare me, I guess.

Having seen the first round,

I know what the judges want now.

I think what they really want from me

is to combine concept
with construction

that is very wearable
and fashion-forward.

Being in the top three
for the first challenge

is an amazing experience.

I think, in this competition,
every challenge,

I have to push myself to go further,

and not do the expected.

I'm ready for fabrics.

All right, designers,
your sketching time is up.

I don't really have
many doubts in my mind.

It's just finding the right fabric
and executing it.

I'm gonna make
a dress and a coat,

so, hopefully, that'll step it up

because most people
are just making dresses.

I have made
one maternity dress before,

but it was a bridesmaid's dress,

and that's a whole 'nother can of worms

that you don't want to open.

I definitely don't think
designing maternity for me

is that far of a stretch.

There shouldn't be
such a drastic sort of gap

between regular clothes
and maternity clothes.

I'm not gonna do what
everyone else is gonna do.

I'm gonna keep it really to my aesthetic

of, like, tailored and refined.

I anticipate
everyone else is gonna be

all about drape and flowy and goddessy
and Pea in the Pod.

- All right, I'm done.

My concept is that
I want to use ribbon

and create a bodice,

but I have kept the bottom jersey,

so she'd be comfortable
while still looking great.

You know what?
My original plan changed.

Going in a different direction here,

but I'm really liking
what I've got going on.

It doesn't matter what,

you always want to produce
something you are proud of.

I'm working on a 1920s
negligee-inspired c*ck dress.

It's something
that I'm kind of known for,

and it has a lace appliquéd top
that I hand-dyed.

My concept revolves around
the idea of fertility.

I'm playing around with
images of eggs, birds' nests.

Basically, this look
is called The Mother Hen.

In the back of my head,
I keep hearing Nina say

"Don't play it safe."

'Cause that's what she said to me.

"It feels like you played it a little safe."

The nerves are here.

The nerves definitely are here.

For me, it's almost like
I need to continue that momentum

from the first challenge.

It's really important to remain on top,

so this is a challenge
I have to bring in.

Like, I have to win this.

I don't know what to do
with the top of this.

It's driving me crazy.

I'm gonna do a pair of jodhpurs.

Like chicken thighs.

Oh, Malvin.

There is definitely
some dresses in that room

that are neither fitted nor chic.

I don't think Rebecca will, like,
wear any of that anywhere.

This challenge is to design
an outfit for Rebecca Romijn,

the supermodel, television actress.

And the curve ball
is that she is pregnant.

I do think that it's difficul
t to design for somebody

who's pregnant,
especially someone with twins,

who is very pregnant.

The only problem is it takes a while.

I think there's a lot
of really cool designs.

I love Malvin's design,

the idea that it's like this egg.

I think that's super-cool.

So he's definitely someone
that I'm really looking forward

to seeing the end result.

I love the idea of a sweater,
'cause that's so cozy.

Yeah, because the sweater fabric
may be a tiny bit sheer,

I bought T-shirt fabric.

You can just make a cute tank top.

I'm like, I'm not doing...

I'm not looking to go out on a limb
and win this challenge.

I want to stick with being safe.

They sit very low and are pretty short.

I put the dress on her,

and it fits pretty much perfectly.

The color looks gorgeous on her.

I know we had a fitting
and I measured it,

but then when I put it
on the mannequin,

I didn't know if it would lay flat.

Tanisha, she looks good in it.

However, the cups
seem to be smaller on her

than they did the last fitting.

Oh, my God, we're in big trouble.

In trying to create a balanced look,

I gathered too much,

and the shorts,

instead of looking
feminine and fun

and with great movement,
they are looking sloppy.

Very simple with the hair.
Nothing big and froufy.

Her hair's gonna be in a big 'fro.

She asked for something
that is stylish

and that shows off
her pregnancy curves.

You had two days and $100
to put it together.

She's known for her gorgeous gowns
and celebrity clientele.

- Hi, everyone.

The beautiful and pregnant

TV star Rebecca Romijn.

[Applause]

Hi, guys.

And just so you guys know,

we all have been pregnant, okay?

So we know
what we're talking about,

especially today.

Let's start the show.

My look is definitely
more ready-to-wear.

I chose kind of a gold foil leather,

which I think makes it more elegant
and more expensive.

My design came out exactly
like I wanted it to.

She looks beautiful
in the coat and the dress,

and she pulls it off perfectly.

My model's walking down the runway,
and as she comes out,

I noticed something very strange.

Her skirt keeps going up and up.

And she still looks amazing,

but I see Heidi
writing something frantically.

And I'm really nervous.

I feel like my point of view
really came across in this piece.

It has volume to it, it has texture,

and it lets me show
who I am as a designer.

I think my model looks like a very,
very hip girl coming down the runway.

She looks like she's ready

to go out on the town
with her girl friends.

She's happy with her overall look,

and I think it really shows
when she walks on the runway.

My model is working the dress.

I mean, she's walking, it's flowing,

the color looks great on her.

I mean, she looks extremely trendy
in style and silhouette.

It's sexy.

I'm watching her walk,

but at the same time,
I'm watching the judges.

So I do a jumpsuit
that's not way off,

it's not tacky. It was really elegant.

It was totally different
from everybody else's.

It looked so fantastic.

It's just something
that I would totally wear.

That was my baby,
and I put so much work into it.

My design is so elegant

and so well put together.

She looks a little bit like Rebecca Romijn
with her hair,

so I'm very happy.

The look portrayed everything
I wanted it to portray.

It was calm and serene and easy.

It just flows. The styling is perfect.

She looks the way
I want her to look.

I love the pants, I love the top.

It doesn't look exactly like an egg.

I feel that the pieces are flattering
towards a woman's body.

What I see before me

is a very chic, elegant,
pregnant young woman

who is wearing
a very artistic creation.

Looking at the judges' expressions,

they are, like, stone-cold.

I love my little reveille jacket.

I want to take that thing

off my model
and wear it out the door.

I really like the color

and the way that I've
draped the bottom of it.

I'm feeling pretty good.

There's things that I'm not certain of

that could go really wrong,

so I'm not feeling relaxed.

I'm watching my model
come down the runway,

and she's glowing,

and I asked her to have a big smile,

and she did. And that's
exactly what I wanted.

It's just a fun little dress.

First of all, I have to say
our models look heavily pregnant.

They're all about to give birth.

They must be all, like, a week away.

I would like to start with Ra'mon.

So tell us about your look.

I created a c*ck dress for Rebecca.

I thought, What would I design for her

if she was not pregnant,

and then reinterpret that
for an actual maternity piece.

I think the dress is
a little too busy for my taste,

and I think the construction
is also a little sloppy.

- It almost looks like here is the baby.
- Arrows.

She's pointing to here is the baby.

- It's like arrows. It's like, whoa.
- Racing stripes.

I've never been pregnant,

but I tried to imagine
myself pregnant,

and I thought this really was

like a evening dress for you.

It kept it in, like, a jersey

because I wanted you
to be comfortable.

And, like you said,

you wanted to show off

your beautiful pregnancy curves.

I love the way that it
accentuates the back.

You know, the lines of her body
look beautiful in it.

It's appropriate
for many different types

of evening occasions.

is I would add more room

in the cups of the bust

I drew reference
to a mother hen and her egg,

that almost embracing
cocoon-like nest

over an egg,

I loved how you draped
