Here we are, the final three.
This is the big one.

This is where all that hard work,

sweat, tears, sacrifice

are gonna come to pay off.

I'm so close I can taste it.

Everybody's pulling out their stuff.

I'm excited to see what they've done.

Sizing up the comp.

I still see Seth Aaron's collection

as a glamorous Hot Topic.

It's just got so much going on.

[Emilio] I think Mila's garments
are beautifully made,

but it's very severe and very demure.

[Mila]
First impression of Emilio's collection:

I'm in a boutique in Harlem...

in 1994.

[Seth Aaron]
His collection as an overall collection...

you know, it's definitely older.

Now that I've seen what they've done,

I'm feeling like I could win.

I'm here just to check in with you,
see how you're doing.

Seth Aaron, so how are you
feeling about things?

Let's start with...

This is one of my favorites.
It's red wool.

- How many actual looks do you have?
- 24.

- Yeah.

You know, this was the first vision.
I had to get that out.

- With your advice, I can move forward.

You know, based on Tim's advice,

I really wanted to create

a more clean sophistication to my line

and have them look at it and say,

"Wow, he grew.
He took it to the next level."

- Emilio.

The last time we did a critique,

it was a tough critique.

Haven't we seen this before?

- I'm not saying this in a barb, hostile way.
- Okay. I know.

I'm trying to help you
get prepared for the runway

Sometimes what Tim thinks

and what the judges think
are two different things,

so I'm hedging all my bets
on the judges.

Mila, I'm so eager
to see what you're up to.

So this is a mohair top

with patent leather.

- Again, quite '60s in shape,
- Mm-hmm.

But I'm styling it

- with this mini.
- Hmm.

The one word that has resonated in me

from the judges
about the styling of your work

- has been "rough."
- Mm-hmm.

- Roughen it up.
- Absolutely.

more rock and roll.

- Right.

I wanted to represent the world,

and the world is a multicultural world.

The right vibe, the right look,

the right walk...
it's a make-or-break.

The notes from the judges
were a little grungier,

a little grittier, a little edgier.

The liner... it's just this
gritty, dirty kind of eye.

- [Mila] That looks like it feels really nice.
- Yeah, it does, actually.

- I was, like, this is a new thing.
- It's like a magic wand.

- Do you like it?
- I love it.

An Uptown New York girl.

Let's start with this
Magic Perfecting Base

and add a beautiful shimmer
to the skin.

This is amazing.
It gets every single lash.

Metallic black shadow.

- Happy?
- Yeah.

It looks great.

So I wanted to go really black.

I'm envisioning this big, dark eye.

- That looks amazing.

gives a fuller, longer look.

And then a lip.
I think it's a beautiful complement

- to you how strong the eye is.

- I'm very excited.

I'm putting Kristina
in the red wool dress with leather detail

because it represents
my point of view at the next level.

They'll stretch out a little

Just because you designed a collection
at home for two months...

When you actually put a girl
in a piece of garment

and she walks,
everything changes.

There's some pieces
that I designed that are not working,

so I'm condensing
a lot of technical work

in a very short amount of time.

I'll let it out on the side seam.

I really only have one shot

to get the clothes on them,
pick a look.

- It's pretty intense.
- Oh, it's crazy.

I mean, I've never experienced
anything like this in my entire life.

I'm going to have
my hair consultation now

with Garnier.

Based on the judges' critique,

I need to make my collection
look a little bit edgier.

- A rock and roll...
- More rock and roll in a less-controlled way.

I think it's great.

This is a defining moment in my life.

This is for all those people
who knew I could do it

before I even believed I could do it.

In this process,
I asked my family

to make sacrifices for me
to pursue my dream.

This year was a fantastic season

because we had amazing designers.

Hi. I'm Seth Aaron.

And first of all,
I'd like to thank everybody

for this opportunity.

I'd like to thank my family.
They've been through quite a bit.

My collection was inspired
by 1940s German-Russian military.

My girls are strong,
and they're gonna kick a*s.

All the pain, all the disappointment,

everything went into this.

And in the end, there's peace.

It's like something I never thought
I would see of mine.

I mean, as soon as I start to see

which was inspired by shadows.

a big shout-out to my parents.

They've always been incredibly
creatively nurturing to me,

and I really appreciate that.

but also surprise the judges.

I put my soul into this,

We've worked so hard,

The collection is called "Color Me Bad,"

and it was inspired
by my mom and her sisters.

I thought my collection
was an amazing mix

of wearable clothing

that's also exciting to look at

and want to own.

This collection says a lot

about who I am as a designer
and as a person, as a artist,

so I'm happy with that.

I thought Mila's collection
with the shadows was very interesting.

I liked the idea
of being inspired by shadows.

Well, Seth Aaron's collection I liked a lot.

- It was sexy and cool.
- Was it rad?

Emilio presented a collection that was
very sophisticated. It was very fresh.

I really have to say I would go with Mila.

Hey, girl.

Emilio's outerwear
was actually quite fantastic.

Because I liked the dresses
with the word prints on them.

I liked that.
It reminded me of the '90s.

And I'm totally
bringing back the '90s.

[Spanish]

I loved Seth's collection.

The military-inspired look
is definitely a home run for me.

I loved Mila's collection.
That first coat was gorgeous.

I want it.

Seth Aaron's collection
was a little more whimsical,

and I think Emilio and Mila's collections

could be bought right off the runway.

So I think it's really gonna come down
to what the judges are looking for.

I was very happy today.

I thought it was
an absolutely amazing show.

I thought it was a great show.
I was very impressed.

I think these were,
without a question,

three very talented designers,

and they were consistent
throughout the entire season.

[Michael]
They all had this distinct point of view,

and I was really
kind of blown away by it.

Okay, let's bring out the designers.

Before we begin, I want to tell you

that we could not be more impressed

with what you showed us today.

Congratulations, guys.

Fantastic show, guys.

Great job today. I really enjoyed it.

Let's bring out your models.

Let's start with Seth Aaron.

Well, basically, my inspiration

was 1940s German and Russian military.

From color palette to my structure,

I wanted to show innovation,

have it remain me, just polished.

Well, first off, you really know how
to craft clothes beautifully.

I thought that, you know,
just the kaboom, the pow

of what you sent out was exhilarating,

powerful.

And you did step up the luxury,

and at the same time,
it still stayed young.

I mean, the dress that she's wearing...

if she just had on black pumps
and a ponytail,

it's actually a commercial,
wearable dress.

- Mm-hmm. Absolutely.
- So that's a great sleight of hand

to have a powerful show
filled with clothes that people can wear.

Thank you so much.

I congratulate you,

because, yes, you have grown up.

Your clothes do look more sophisticated.

There are some favorites.

I love that silk black and white

kind of parachute dress.

I thought to myself,
"I would totally rock that."

I would wear that in a heartbeat.

- I just figured I'd put something there...
- It was really great.

...flowy, just to, like,
make people go "What?"

[Nina]
And then I loved your combination

of the polka dot with the tweed
and the stripe.

You still have a heavy hand
in some outfits,

but I like that you have many ideas.

It was a great show.

- Thank you.
- You put on a fantastic show,

and it was a very editorial collection.

- I wasn't sure about the purple.
- [Nina] The purple...

[Michael]
I would have to agree on the purple.

But I really thought
it was a very exciting show.

- Cool.
- Really, really exciting.

Emilio, tell us about
your inspiration and your collection.

I wanted to create a collection

rooted on great American sportswear,

tweaked through color
and proportion.

And I wanted to create pieces

that a woman can actually wear

and feel comfortable
and beautiful in.

Why "Color Me Bad"?

Because I think color is a way
to amp up a collection.

You can look very polished
and sophisticated,

but you have a little badness in you,

so maybe you want to put on
a red dress,

and so I just liked
the idea of it called "Color Me Bad."

- I was knocked out.
- Oh, thank you.

- I was.
- Thank you so much.

The coats in your collection
just blew me away.

The coat here that you're wearing...

the length of the sleeve
is so flattering on a woman.

And then the turquoise coat
that came out...

- just the way it was fitted was impeccable.
- Thank you.

Just gorgeous.

I liked your collection, too.

I especially liked your print.

- Thank you.
- Because that is your last name, right?

- That is the ESOSA brand.
- Oh.

You actually sent out the most
commercial of the three.

That being said,

my favorite thing
was your least commercial thing.

- I thought the gown was...
- [Emilio] The gown.

...absolutely gorgeous.

- I really enjoyed the collection a lot.

I thought the jump, though,

from this very daytime
sportswear attitude

to that very glamorous gown...

- I was kind of missing the step in between.
- Okay.

But overall, I have to say,

you could roll that rack
into any fabulous store in America,

and everyone would say
"Sign me up."

Nina, what did you think?

I think it was
an extremely sophisticated...

quiet but sophisticated collection.

The drama and the beauty

of that gold dress was fantastic.

I wish we would've had
a little more of that.

I thought this collection
was a little heavy on the suitings.

- Okay.
- Too much tailoring, maybe,

too many coats,
when you do feminine so well.

- So I wish I would've seen more of that.
- Right.

I missed more of that Emilio.

Something I hadn't
done in the collection

was sportswear, was tailoring,

and I wanted to showcase that

so you can see that I am
a versatile designer.

Mila, tell us about your inspiration
and your collection.

I was really, for some reason,

paying a lot of attention
to shadows that I would see

around town, on the ground,

creating layers,

creating texture, dimension,

and, you know,
interesting graphic shapes,

but also illusions.

I wanted to create
some interesting signature pieces

that were wearable yet still unique.

I really liked your show.

- [Mouths words]
- I liked the changes that you've made.

Especially what Michael
and Nina said last time,

and really think about
the hair and makeup again

and not making it
maybe so literal of the '60s.

You k*lled the girl
in the cage doing the Frug.

You took her out of the '60s.

You made it look totally contemporary.

I think the styling
really helped you tremendously,

because the clothes
were already there.

You know? It was just,
how do you take this

and make it look now?

I loved the shiny skirt...
the little sequined skirt

with the strip
down the front of that top.

I thought that mixed-media piece

that was kind of a tunic dress
with the leggings...

Wherever you played with shine,
it really turned me on...

- Mm-hmm.
...because I thought there was

something about it that was,

you know, a little nasty,
but in a good way.

I had a lot of pieces in there that I
really loved that I would like to have.

I loved, for example,
this very simple white T-shirt

with the stripes going
all different angles.

I thought that was really great
with the sweater over it.

Well, I thought it was a great show.

The dress that I would wear
in a heartbeat... [laughs]...

is the one with
the black and white scarf

that you had...

very graphic.

I loved that you had
the white and the black glove

- and the way you did the leggings with the...
- The leggings.

- Loved it. Yeah.
- Loved the leggings.

[Nina]
I think this runway show

was very successful.

I think the changes that you made

in the hair and makeup
helped tremendously.

And I agree,

when you loosen up,

it becomes a lot cooler.

I think you're very buttoned up,

and I think when it loosens up,
I think it helps.

I really do think it helps.

Well, we have a lot to talk about.

It's gonna be a tough decision.

We heard what you had to say.

or maybe big one... and then

I have to say,
I like all three of them.

I think the three of them

really had this real...
I don't know...

sense of accomplishment and pride.

This time around,
they've really... very mature.

Yeah. Let's start with Mila.

[Michael]
She really showed us,

I think, the culmination

of what she's been saying
for the whole season.

Listen, she had two looks
that I really loved.

Mila really turned it out.
You know why?

- Yeah, both...
- They're both modern,

contemporary, softer.

And I think that she's great
at mixing textiles.

The sheerness on the leggings.

- [Nina] The leggings were pretty terrific.
- [Faith] The leggings were great.

- [Michael] The leggings are great.
- [Heidi] Yeah.

So she has that potential there

when she doesn't get caught up
in her geometry lessons.

I thought it all looked great,

but I thought it wasn't surprising.

So, but then,
you were really surprised at Seth?

I mean, I was surprised in terms of

- excitement about each piece that he did.
- Mm-hmm.

But I wasn't surprised about

the kind of things that he made,

because that, to me,
showed Seth Aaron.

The same way this showed Mila.

I was surprised about one thing...

And I think this is a big thing
to be surprised about with Seth Aaron.

It was so much more sophisticated...

- Grown-up.
...than where he has been.

I mean, this was polished
and expensive-Iooking

but still with his flavor.

My issue, once again,
with him, though...

I mean, it does get overwrought.

It can borderline on costumey...

- [Michael] Jokey.
...very easily.

He's gotta be very careful on that.

But look when he goes chic.

- Oh, yeah.
- Look when he goes chic.

[Heidi]
These dresses in a department store,

the would even have hanger appeal.

- Oh, absolutely. Yes.
- We would go over there.

You know, the interesting thing also,
he understood

that today, what he was putting on
was a fashion show,

- show, show.
- Mm-hmm. Show.

And here's the other thing
I think about...

Seth Aaron has, in a way,

a little more guts.

He's more fearless,
and you need a little bit of that.

Okay, let's talk about Emilio.

I was really knocked out by him.

He was so clever.

And then comes that dress

that was so beautifully crafted.

I mean, it was so feminine and sexy

and strong and confident.

It was, um...
I was knocked out by this guy.

Emilio, today,

went the opposite route
of the other two designers.

- He went more quiet.
- Yeah.

He was like, "Well, I've wowed you
through the season,

and now I'm gonna show you
that I'm commercial."

Emilio was really thinking
more business-wise.

I mean, he did develop that print

- with his last name...
- [Michael] Which is priceless.

The fact that I don't
have to tone it down for real life

makes me think that he was

kind of showing a line, not a collection.

There's a difference.

I don't know.
Where was the drama?

So what are we judging on today?

- On business sense?
- [Nina] No.

- On who is willing to learn?
- I think we're judging...

- Or who do we know what they're good at?
- Who is the most creative.

- Who had the most creative...
- Who has the most to say?

But just on the show today?

Or are we thinking about
this season on Project Runway?

[Michael]
Well, when you think about it,

they got to show us more today

than they did in the whole season.

Well, today is the ultimate challenge,

which is their runway show.

Well, Emilio,

he's got that kind of really
analytical eye...

that he's looking at the littlest detail.

But I don't know that there was
a lot of showmanship today.

You know, turn the volume knob
up a touch.

But, that being said,

hands down, out of all
the clothes we saw today,

- the most flattering,
- Mm-hmm.

Easiest to wear...

The most sophisticated.

Wow, this is really tough.

Not an easy one.

No.

So have we made our decision?

- Mmm.
- [No audible dialogue]

Okay, let's bring them back out.

Congratulations to all three of you.

All of your collections
were polished and professional.

And I have to tell you that
you made our decision today

really, really tough.

Emilio, Seth Aaron, Mila,

only one of you can be
the winner of Project Runway.

Seth Aaron,

you maintained your signature style,

but you took it to the next level today.

You really accomplished your goal

of amping up the sophistication
and elegance.

You still have to watch the boundary

between chic and costumey.

But you certainly do know how
to put on a show.

Emilio,

your taste and craftsmanship
have always impressed us,

and today was no exception.

We loved your evening gown

and wished we could've seen
a couple of more showstoppers.

However, your point of view

has a real place in fashion.

Mila,

you proved that you could take
the '60s aesthetic

that you love so much

and put your unique spin on it.

We really loved the softer looks
that you showed today.

As always,
your point of view was clear.

But we wished you would've stepped

a little bit more out of
your comfort zone to surprise us.

Mila,

I'm sorry.

I really think that it's never too late

to follow your dream.

I lost my way a little bit

on my path to being
a fashion designer.

But having the opportunity
to compete on Project Runway

has made me realize

that I'm really meant
to be a fashion designer.

I mean, I would be lying if I wasn't.

But I think that lots of great
opportunities lie ahead for me,

and I am so grateful
to have had this experience.
