[male narrator] Previously on "The Real World.."

[Jon] David being a comedian I think he's always trying

to crack jokes and be funny.

My people that I'm around, I can joke with them

and tease them about anything.

You're trying to hurt my feelings

and I don't appreciate it.

I've never heard that word "Please".

Come back here in my face and talk to me.

If everyone's got a problem, you can't just sit

and let it fester inside of you 'cause you'll just go nuts.

[Tami] Every time somebody says something you take offense.

- That's pretty damn ignorant. - I'm not upset. Talk about it!

[Dominic] This is the true story..

[Tami] Of seven strangers..

[Jon] Picked to live in a house..

[Beth] And have their lives taped..

[Aaron] To find out what happens..

[Irene] When people stop being polite..

[David] And start getting real.

[thunder rumbling]

[Jon] The tension in this house is

is really getting to everybody. It really is.

[Tami] We can't all be walking around

mad at each other and arguing all the time.

[Irene] You have little arguments but you don't have fights

like we seem to be having all the time.

[Dominic] Arguing is fine.

Fighting I don't like. Any type of violence.

[rain spattering]

I will admit that at first it started out

a playful type of thing

where everybody was joking, everybody was playing.

- Goodnight. - Goodnight.

- Goodnight all. - Goodnight.

Me, Aaron and Dominic and Jon stayed downstairs in the kitchen

while the rest of the girls went upstairs.

Are we still gonna overthrow the girls from their room?

[Aaron] 'All four of us are gonna live in that big room.'

Yeah, don't you think that'd be great?

Yeah, it's huge.

This has been a joke from the beginning

as far as taking the girls' room

'cause, you know, we know Irene's leaving

and we know that someone else will be moving in

and that'd be a perfect opportunity to take advantage.

Okay, there's a wedding?

There's a wedding? Are we going to the wedding?

[Aaron] 'That's gonna be an insane party.'

Okay, alright then.

Well, I've been thinking about this

'cause I love a good wedding too.

But if we left a little early..

Tami is gonna go ballistic.

We'd better hide the cutlery set.

[Jon] 'Why do you say that?'

Because I don't want Norman Bates-Tami

in the middle of the night coming in

trying to slit my throat.

[Tami on announcer] 'I see everything you're doing'

'and I hear everything you're saying.'

'I'm watching y'all stupid asses on the monitor.'

[laughing]

Evidently Tami heard us and she got kinda upset.

I don't like people trying to sneak

and do [beep] behind my back.

And I know you came up with that..

Tami got that head a-shaking

and was ready to, uh, kick some booty.

Why do you keep looking at me?

I mean it, that's all I'm saying, whoever it was.

- Jon. - Jon did it.

[instrumental music]

I knew somebody's listening.

Dominic said, "Well, maybe it's best

if we go upstairs and apologize."

So, I went upstairs and laid beside Tami in her bed.

[Tami] 'Stop, stop!'

- 'David! - 'David, stop!'

- Behave yourself. - I wasn't looking.'

[Tami] 'You was just looking.'

Tami made it plain, you know

she didn't have any clothes on.

And I think everybody in the house

was in the girls' bedroom except for Dominic.

- Get away. Phone's ringing. - The phone's ringing.

[Aaron] 'There go the phone trolls.'

It's for me!

[David] 'Tami.'

It's for me? It really is for me.

[Jon] 'Come on, you're naked under there.'

Stop Jon! Jon!

I swear before holy God!

Don't do that!

- Are you naked? - I swear to God!

D-o-o-o-on't!

[screaming]

Stop, I swear!

[whistling]

Move it, go.

- Hot momma! - Stop it!

Tell you the truth, I really cannot remember

but it was, I know it started out as a joke.

[Tami screaming]

No, David!

David!

[Tami screaming]

Oh, my God, are you crazy? David!

[screaming]

She was just like, "Beth, do not move.

Stay on top of me, do not move."

So I'm just, like, trying to cover her up.

- Put something on that Tami! - Get out of here!

[indistinct shouting]

[Tami] 'Stay here.'

[Tami screaming]

[laughing]

[Tami screaming]

[Aaron] 'You're disgusting!'

[laughing]

[Tami] 'I can't believe it!'

'Oh, my God!'

'I can't believe you'd do that to me!'

I'm bringing you something, Tami, okay?

[Tami] 'I'm all shaking.'

I'm gonna bring you something right now. Hold on.

When she was laying there on the floor

she didn't

you know, she didn't have time to think about all that.

But when she was in the bathroom trying to find something

to put on it, it really

I think she really had time to think

about how much it bothered her.

[Beth] She just started getting really upset and then

when she was finally in her room

it was just, it was just really bad.

They dragged me across the floor!

In front of the camera crew!

The people in the production room!

b*stard, I'mma kick his a*s!

[Jon] 'Oh, my God, she's pouring it all over his bed!'

- Where did he go? - I don't know where he went.

How could you do that to me?

It sounded like they were

messing around, then it sounded serious.

Then it sounded like they were messing around.

Um, it was just a really fine line

whether or not I should step in.

Y'all are going too far now.

[Irene] 'David, no!'

You ain't throwing on my bed!

You stripped me naked!

We'll go head-up in this mother..

[Irene] 'He is not allowed in here.'

I can't even believe that you think

that what you did to her is nothing!

And it just escalated, you know, one thing led to another.

It seemed like Beth kept instigating.

It's like a hot air balloon.

She kept putting more hot air into the balloon.

Making Tami more madder and madder.

[David] 'You guys were laughing and giggling when I did it.'

No, I wasn't I was trying to cover her.

I was telling you to leave me the hell alone!

It was not funny, David, it was not funny!

You guys were laughing and giggling.

You can take off your pants, I am not like that, okay!

And you totally disrespected me!

You don't have any respect for yourself.

[Irene] 'I'll call the police and scream "r*pe."'

You should file charges against him.

She's filing charges and stuff now.

- She should! - That was a joke.

She had on her bra and underwear on!

You guys knew what I was doing. I was playing.

I was trying to cover her.

[Dominic] 'Hey, there's no violence in our bedroom here, babies.'

I don't know what you did in there

but she's filing charges.

I pulled the cover off of her.

You did not just pull the covers off of me, I told you to stop!

My underwears are coming down

but you laughin', 'cause it's funny.

And it was not funny, okay!

[Beth] 'I will press charges in an instant.'

- Yes, Beth, press charges. - You r*ped her.

I will go to jail for both of you, alright?

It's all the rap music and just violence

and tension that builds up and this is what happens.

I'll tell you what, I'll leave the house, alright.

We'd be very happy, we'd feel much safer.

I was really upset that nobody else

stuck-up for Tami except me.

And David tried to turn around and say that it was all my fault

because I'm the instigator.

I'm the instigator because nobody else stuck up for Tami

and he thought that he did nothing wrong.

[dialing]

He's going to get it, that's the bottom line.

[male #] 'Yeah, was it a joke?'

He said it was. I didn't find the humor.

[laughing]

[Aaron] 'You know what, I got some, uh'

'I got some mink oil you can put on them.'

What do I do to dry 'em off?

[Aaron] 'Yeah, put 'em and let 'em dry off.'

Lucky these are waterproof.

I know, but they were playing too.

They were laughing. Then happened to get mad.

[Dominic] I heard the laughing too.

[David] You heard them laughing hysterically?

- I thought they were. - 'That's why I kept playing.'

That's, that's..

I'm not getting involved at all.

I'm pulling the cover, they turning laughing.

So I was playing, they playing, I just pulled it off.

The thing was like a two-piece bathing suit!

Alright, fine.

[Dominic] 'So we've learned a new boundary then again tonight.'

I really am glad that you guys

find the humor in humiliating me.

[Aaron] We're not even talking about that.

[Dominic] 'Don't point your finger at me, Tami.'

'I didn't find it funny and I wasn't even there.'

But you guys don't understand my side.

I wasn't even there. Do not start with me.

You went on looking around the corner, I saw you.

- Holler at me, Tami. - Tami, I was in bed.

I looked up and saw you, Dominic, since you guys--

I walked out and he says, "You gotta see this."

[David] Tami, it's me.

- Tami, you know what I saw? - You're going to get yours.

They weren't, uh, supporting David.

They weren't, uh, telling him everything was okay

but I think Tami thought we were all getting a big kick out of it

just because we were in the room together.

- 'Tami!' - What Dominic?

'Remember you got other people that live here.'

Deal with it here or deal with it outside

but don't bring someone else in, please.

Dominic, don't worry about it, okay?

Since nobody came to my aid while he was stripping

the covers off of me, don't you worry about it.

- I thought you was playing! - It was not funny!

- Why were you laughing? - 'I was not laughing.'

'I can't understand how you can't understand that.'

When Tami said that, it struck a real chord with me

like, God, if I had sat on my bed

bitchin' about trying to get to sleep

while some serious incident was going on

I'd find it hard to live with myself.

I was there the whole time and I really

now that I look back, I really wish

that I'd stepped in and done something

uh, because it had been better off for David

Tami and everybody if that just had never happened.

Sue me for pulling a cover off of her, playing. You guys on..

Oh, yeah, and that's what a r*pist says too.

r*pe, it's got nothing to do with--

She's crying, okay. She's really upset.

You were right there on the floor laughing!

She was over-reacting, you know what I'm saying?

She says, "You violated her, her privacy" da-da-da-da-da.

"It's just like r*pe. You don't know when to stop."

And that freaked me out, because, you know

when you mention the word "r*pe"

women shouldn't play with that word.

They think it's just the funniest thing

that could happen.

And "No" meant "Yes," right?

Yeah, I guess "No" meant "Yes".

[David] I'd never been put in a position before of being

called "r*pe" you know? That word thrown at me like that.

It was very uncomfortable, I couldn't take it no more.

I didn't leave the house because of Tami's threats.

I left the house because

Beth made me uncomfortable by saying that.

[Jon] 'What is the issue?'

The issue is that he should not get away with it

just like a r*pist should not get away with raping a girl.

You cannot violate another human being like that.

Don't you understand that that's wrong?

I do understand that.

And I'm telling you what would make you feel better?

Now that it's happened and you can't go back and change it.

That he is punished in some way shape or form

no matter what it is.

That he is punished.

[Jon] I didn't know if we'd ever see Tami again.

Uh, the way she left the house

you know, she was just totally humiliated and, um

you know, I didn't know if she'd ever come back.

I went to the beach and I just analyzed

the whole thing in my head what exactly did I do wrong

to cause that and I could not find

what I did wrong to cause that.

That night when I left I drove to Mulholland Drive

and I sat there, till like four o'clock

in the morning and just..

I cried for a while.

I really didn't say anything to her at first

when she came home because I didn't know

if she wanted to be left alone or how she was feeling.

I just thought that maybe she would come up and approach me.

If she wanted to do something about it

of course I would be there and I would be her witness.

And, um, I would be on her side

and I'd, I'd have to, because what he did was wrong.

It was kinda uncomfortable situation

'cause I knew something was going to happen.

And I didn't know when, I didn't know what

and I was just kind of sitting around waiting.

[Irene] During the two days before we had our talk with David

what went through my mind was..

...um, how I was feeling.

I had this unsafe feeling, I had this threatening feeling.

[Dominic] The girls wanted to meet with me.

Jon and Aaron separately without David

and David was in the house.

I didn't.. Still wasn't sure what was going on.

I had an idea it was about the night before

but I thought it was kinda not rude but kinda like..

When he's right there, you know, it's kinda like..

Almost has a kangaroo court style to it.

I was there and, and I guess at the very beginning

I kinda felt like, you know

I was the part of the joke, part of it.

And then, of course the joke went too far

and I wasn't involved in what I thought, you know..

After it went too far, I don't think I was part of it

but I think that I should have stepped in and done something.

[Aaron] 'And that's something, honestly, I felt bad about.'

I mean, if I would have known it was that extreme

I would have done something--

It wasn't until later that night when you said to me

"Well, if you'd have helped me when I needed it."

It was like..

'It was only then I thought, "Oh.."'

Because I didn't know what lead up to..

...what happened, I really didn't.

I felt the whole incident was immature and there had to be..

I would have thought there would have been, uh, some way

to resolve that before it escalated to that.

But you see the thing that pisses me off is

when it all started I said..

First of all, I told him to get off my bed because I was naked.

I said "I'm naked, get off my bed."

'Aaron pulled him off the bed.'

It was.. It should have stopped right there.

- 'He should have.' - When I..

You know, his intentions were

that I was gonna be naked

he was going to snatch the covers..

- Ha-ha, big joke. - Yeah, very funny.

Everybody laugh.

Of course Tami was playing, but I felt, I analyzed

and I felt, okay, she was embarrassed.

This is like the girl who doesn't want to get thrown

in the swimming pool at the party.

She's laughing, but she got thrown in the pool

now she's embarrassed.

I don't think she would even have acted like that

if Beth didn't kept instigating it

and it just kept leveling, leveling, leveling.

Whether we were laughing or whether we were screaming

I know that Tami was screaming "No."

We were both saying, "No, stop it."

I would not have been rolling around on the ground

trying to cover her up, if it was a game

because it wasn't a game.

I actually thought Beth was..

'cause I didn't hear you say it.

I thought you were trying to cause trouble.

That's what I thought.

Okay, we all realize that though

that you hearing everything that did happen

how her feelings were affected in this

'and how, um, humiliating it was'

and it shouldn't have gone to that point.

- 'I agree there.' - Okay.

Before this, didn't we have our meeting

where we all became friends?

- Said we'd try to be ourselves. - Just an hour before.

And that this wasn't gonna be a stage for something.

- Right. - Right.

Obviously someone didn't learn by that and listen to that--

[Tami] 'How every time he always crosses the line'

and "Okay guys, I understand point taken, point granted."

He went through that whole scenario.

'Turned right around..'

...to get over the line again.

I started the game, I initiated the game

so I'm responsible for the consequences of the game.

I do not deny that, but I did not mean

to demean her in any way

or to, uh, you know

take advantage of her in any way.

I like David, I've talked to him on a different level

but it's just..

I've seen how he's treated you and then after that, it's like--

And you were there when he beat up Jon.

[Irene] 'He's got something up inside of him'

'that's building and building and building.'

I mean, he, he attacked him the first week.

[Aaron] 'Well, I mean--'

- 'The third day.' - Or third day.

That should, that should never happen.

I just don't think I have the right to judge someone

as far as I have no right to judge any human being

and say that, that person is a bad person.

But at the same time when you told me the other night

that you felt unsafe.

- That, I mean, that's just-- - 'Maybe because what I see--'

There's no way you should be in your own house

'with your roommates and feel unsafe.'

It was late, you know, we ate cheesecake

everybody was hyper, you know, it was late.

It was two o'clock in the morning and we was playing

and I was used to playing with people like that.

And I gotta learn to be more observant

and stop trying to be forceful

and trying to be friends with the six other people.

When he did that to me, do you know how hard it was

for me not to k*ll him?

God, if I had a wish right now

it's that this thing never happened.

Tami, you know, I didn't mean any harm.

I was playing and I thought you were playing.

It was my bad judgment.

Um, I didn't mean to demean you in any way.

You know I respect you.

I don't want you to feel dangerous around me

because I'm not that type of guy.

It was a silly game.

You know I'm a playful person.

But I'm sorry, it'll never happen again.

Will you accept my apology?

You know, and I respect you.

That's the only thing I can say.

Regardless of whether he hurt somebody's feelings or not

there's a, there's a fine line between, you know

not getting along and not feeling safe.

There's a difference and we don't feel safe.

Well, I'll.. I know. Put it out to ignorance.

What don't you feel safe about?

Goin' in and ripping bed sheets off?

- He gets physical. - He takes off his boxer shorts.

He gets psychical.

I'm telling you, he thought I was naked.

He tried to rip.. You know what I mean?

He ripped the blanket off of me

with the hopes that maybe I would have been.

Have you spoken to David yet?

No, and what we want to do is talk to you

because we want him to leave.

We don't want him here.

You've all come to that decision?

- 'Yes.' - All of you feel that way?

Yes, we don't feel safe with him here.

Who knows what else he's gonna do next?

We don't wanna take that chance.

[Dominic] 'That's a really big decision.'

[Beth] 'It is a big decision.'

And if he doesn't leave, I want to leave.

[Jon] 'You've all really thought it through?'

- Mm-hmm. - Yeah.

[Aaron] 'Well, I don't agree.'

'I mean, to my personal.. I understand.'

I have total respect to all your opinions

but I just think that's..

Well, we're gonna call him down here

and tell him that we want him to leave.

[instrumental music]

[David] I'm not going to sit there by myself

like I'm a convicted criminal, because I'm not.

They all want to talk to you.

I am not a perverted, dangerous, psychomaniac.

And a "r*pist" is what you called me.

My position stands.
