It's crazy.
There's people everywhere.
It's frantic.
Ooh, girl.
I'm getting really anxious,
seeing all the people that are
lined up.
It's pretty intimidating.
I'm just going to have to do the
best I can.
Designers, I need you to put
your kits away.

This is our tenth anniversary of
Project Runway, and we're here
with all the fans, and we're
very, very excited.
We've had more seasons than I
Love Lucy.
Pretty amazing.
Ten years of fabulous
fashion.
We thank all of you for
helping make the careers of so
many incredibly talented
designers.
And now...
We have a big moment.
16 designers with shaking
knees back there.
It's true.
They're very, very talented, and
they're very nervous.

I'm half-Indian,
half-Australian, but I grew up
in Dubai.
The person who I'm trying to
dress, the Buffi girl, is
somebody who is always dressed
up for the party, even if she's
not going to one.
It's colorful, bold, and a
little bit eccentric.
Buffi, is it?
Yes.
Uh, how do you say your name?
Gunnar.
Gunnar, okay.
This is my second time,
coming to Project Runway.
I did audition last year and
made it to the top 20.
Gunnar, I'm sorry, you're
out.
I think what went wrong last
time was that I didn't know who
I was as a designer, and now,
coming back, it's a whole
different light.
You know, I have a point of
view.
I know who I am, and this year,
coming back, is definitely a
chance for redemption.
[Both laughing]
Oh, my--oh, my God.
Walking into Parsons for the
first time...
I can't believe we're finally in
here.
This is mental.
This is me.
We had a homework assignment
before we came on the show this
time.
We were to make an outfit that
describes our design aesthetic.
Simple chic.
I always like to picture Cruella
de Vil in my outfits, dragging
a fur behind her.

My name is Lantie Foster.
I'm 38, and I'm from Northern
California.
I'm sorry, did I say 38?
I did.

I just recently opened up my own
design studio in New York City,
in the garment center.
I love it.
Oh, my dress.

It's my favorite.
I design for the edgy girl
that is not scared to experiment
with her style.
A very avant-garde kind of
feel.

Mine is this one.
Some people consider my outfit
as very costume design, but it's
not.
It's a lot of, like, Japanese
street fashion.
Yeah?
I think clothing for everybody
is a little bit different.
Some people wear to have a, "I'm
a little more richer than what
you think," or something like
that, you know what I mean?
But my thing about clothing is,
I do make clothing because of
"love."
I like making a lot of "love."
Yeah.

When I went to college, I
wanted to be a lawyer, and I
took one political science
class, and I looked around, and
I was like, "these are not my
people."
It took me ten years to go back
to school to finally pursue my
Masters in fashion design.
So, what's your style?
Like, what do you like to
design?
Um, I design a lot in black,
kind of more gothic-inspired.
I love black.
I love using black.
I love black and white films.
I love black and white
photography.
It's just how I see--see life.

How long have you had 'em?
Almost nine years.
I really like the white

huge, like, fashion crush on
him.

Well, I want to welcome all of
you to Parsons, the new school
for design.
Adjoining this room is the
Brother sewing room, outfitted
with Brother sewing machines.
And, as you all know, fashion
and technology are inextricable,
so we are thrilled to be
partnering once again with HP,
and you each have an HP tablet
on which to draw and execute
your design ideas.
And we have our Lord & Taylor
accessory wall.
Bravo, Lord & Taylor.
Now, we asked you each to send
us a look, and that is the look
that is on your dress form.
And for your first challenge,
you will be creating a second
look, a companion piece, and by
that, I mean, it should look as
though it belongs with this
piece.
So, you'll have one day for the
challenge.
You'll have a $100 budget.
We're going shopping at Mood.
Now, you are our tenth
anniversary season of designers.
I'm thrilled to tell you, this
first challenge is going to be
the biggest runway presentation
in the history of Project
Runway.
You are going to be presenting
your work to a huge audience,
probably thousands of people,
tons of press, in the center of
the universe--Times Square.
All: Oh!
I've never showcased in a
venue that big.
All eyes will be on you.
Now I'm even more nervous.
So, how excited are you?
Oh, my God, this is crazy.
That's awesome.
All right, so I'm going to
give you 30 minutes to sketch,
and then we're going to Mood.
I wouldn't be Tim Gunn without
saying, "make it work."

[Sighs]
Oh, I'm so nervous.
It hasn't even hit me yet that
I'm a part of Project Runway.
I am so excited.
I live at home with my two
sisters and my parents in
Massapequa.
Yeah, I dropped out of college,
but you know what?
Talent is talent.
I have a portfolio.
I can sew like a mother[bleep].
It's gonna be great.
I'm really confident.
I'm really confident.
For the past few years, I've
been making clothes for tomboys,
basically.
Being a l*sbian designer sets me
apart because it gives me a
different point of view.
I like menswear and I also like
womenswear.
My natural inclination is to mix
the two.
[Upbeat music]

Design and concept comes
naturally to me.
Sewing, not so much.
The first look, I took about
four days to create.
Now I have one day, so I'm a
little freaked out.

The design I'm making for my
second piece, my companion
piece, is somewhat of an
asymmetrical dress.
I really have a distinct vision
and personality with my designs.
Designers, we have ten
minutes left.
[Groans]
Okay, I'm gonna go there now.
I'm a knit designer.
I love knits.
Too t-shirty.
I grew up in the industry.
My parents had manufacturing
plants for, like, 20 years, but
then, as the industry moved
overseas, then it was a struggle
for us.
I had to work my way through
college.
How much?
I'll take a yard.
I basically have had to lift
myself up with my own
bootstraps throughout my life.
Oh, my God.
Okay, 1/2 yard of that and
[Upbeat music]

Most people know that I'm a
menswear designer, but I also
have passion for womenswear.
What I design for a woman is
extremely feminine.
I like to drape.
I like to make dramatic colors.
I love to play with lace.
This is the ugliest lace I have
seen.
It's my favorite fabric to work
with.
I need more money.
I can't buy this cheap [bleep].
No one is gonna tell me, "this
is the new trend," or "do you
know this is very in right now?"
'Cause I don't care.
This is perfect.

MFA in art.
I'm a Professor.
I also teach fashion.

I started to gather the fabric,
but the sewing machine is not
taking it.

and I can't figure it out.
I'm not even, like, near to be
done with this stupid skirt.
If I don't make this happen, I'm

I've never been diagnosed
with A.D.D., but I'm almost 100%
positive that I have it.
I have had a career in retail,
as, like, retail management, but
now I'm putting myself out there
as a fashion designer.
Like, I can't mess it up.
I have to make it, 'cause I
don't know if there's gonna be
another opportunity like this.
I feel like everybody's so nice
to each other now.
Like, I wonder how--
It's the first day.
Everyone should love
everyone.
Exactly.
I grew up in Brazil with my
grandmother, and she was the
seamstress of the neighborhood.
Her sewing machine was in my
room, and I used to go to bed,
listening to the machine, and to
me, that was like a lullaby.
I really enjoy Fabio.
I don't shop.
I'm a freegan.
You're a what?
A freegan.
He is just different and kind
of quirky.
Do you know what that means?
No, I don't.
[Laughs]
It means that I get my food out
of the dumpsters.
For real?
Mm-hmm.
It's like, big supermarkets
throw a bunch of food out every
day.
What?
Mm-hmm.
I'll take you out sometime.
Let's all go dumpster-diving.
I'm a little dubious about
having dinner at his house, but
I understand where it's coming
from, and I think it's pretty
terrific.
]Um, 'cause I invented a diet.
It's called "fegan."
It's fake vegan, so you can eat
whatever you want.
[Laughs]
How good is that diet?
Even when it gets really
stressful in the workroom, it's
just kind of in my nature to
kind of keep talking to
everybody and make everybody
laugh.
[Laughs] Shut up.
Buffi, she drives me nuts.
She's so loud, like her look.
We're the quiet workers.
Yeah, we are, like, workers,
and that's, like, you do your
best work when you're quiet.
Dmitry, he's very quiet in
the corner, and I can't decide
if it's just full-focused or if
it's complete panic.
I really hope it all comes
together, because I do not want
to send something down the
runway...that's a mess.
Is your machine like crazy?
It's working okay for now.
I have no time for this, and
I'm freaking out.
I am going to lose my [bleep].
It's a surreal moment, to
look at these photos and know
that I'm here now.
It feels like I'm supposed to be
here.
Don't you think he should be
an actor?
Not a designer, an actor, with
this face.
I used to be a professional
ballroom dancer.
You did?
So, where did you perform?
Belarus.
I used to travel, like, all over
Europe.
Oh, what a riot.
That's how I kind of got into
fashion.
I started sketching because--
Your costumes?
Seeing all these costumes,
and they're just glitter and
feathers.
I don't really miss designing
ballroom dancing costumes,
because now I am more into real
fashion--jackets and coats and
evening gowns.
My design aesthetic is clean,
architectural, but soft at the
same time.
I have passion for fashion.
Lantie's second look, it
looked a little tacky to me and,
you know, I don't mind things
that are tacky, but it looked
cheap and the colors were quite
bland.
I'm gonna try to ignore the
pain I'm feeling inside.
[Moans]
It's very quiet in here.
[Laughter]
You all are intensely working,
which is good.
We will get started.
Well, you're working away,
Melissa.
Good.
I want to know as much as I can
about who you are as a designer.
I love to work with leather.
I'd like to do a little bit
more, I would say, avant-garde
looks.
So, what are you creating?
I wanted to show a little bit
more skin in this look.
I'm still using black and
wrapping it around.
I'm intrigued.
Intrigued?
Intriguing's good.
Okay, intriguing means
something good.
And I like kind of mixing the
soft with the hard.
This piece is supposed to be
more so about the jacket.
As positively as I respond to
the jacket, I really don't get
it, with the dress underneath.
Okay, well, now I have to
think about whether or not I
need to use the jacket or not.
These are my colors, and
then I did the pants with the
cut-out holes.
Mm-hmm.
Just on one leg, 'cause I
thought that wasn't, like, as
trashy, and I like things
asymmetric.
Buffi--a lot of colors, all
the colors together, all the
trends, everything.
It's just--just like diarrhea.
So, I was trying to be
sophisticated, 'cause I was
scared that the judges might,
like, go down a route, saying I
was, like, a bit too, you know,
much or something.
It's not a bit not too much.
[Laughs] Okay.
Kooan, hi.

Is this a dress?
Uh, this is actually, you can
wear it as a dress as well.
Kooan's look kind of looks
like Liberace threw up.
So, what are you creating
now?
It's like a, how do you say?
A coat dress.
So, I made it, this sleeve--

I'm thoroughly confused.
Kooan tried to explain to him
his point of view, but nothing
is making any sense.
Where's the dress part of it?
This is it.

I think he really didn't get
what I was saying, but I'm
sticking to my original plan.

Yes, absolutely.
My second look, and I think it's
close to what I'm working with,
and then I picked this light
fabric, so what I want to do,
it's basically a sweater dress.
What would happen if you
played with this over it?
Just play with it and try to
experiment with it.

I'd love to hear about the
look that you sent in.
Yeah, so this is the look
that I made at home.
Fabio, you've kept it all in
a single palette, and it's
something that's dark and matte.
Mm-hmm.
I really believe it works.

your new look?
Um, I took this little piece
of it and, um, zoomed in and
made a full skirt out of it.
I'm gonna come clean with

In the company of that piece
and this piece, that the skirt
is like a throwaway.
I'm questioning the design of
the skirt, and I'm questioning
the textile.
My heart just sinks into my
chest.
I just want to just crawl into a
corner and start crying, because
you don't want your critique to
go bad, and you don't want to go
home, and especially, you don't
want to be the first one going
home.

that you sent ahead.
Okay, so, uh, one of the
things that I was supposed to
work on upon leaving last time
was to find my client, and I
kind of like designing for
older, southern women.
Listen, there's a market.
There is, and I'm surrounded
by them, so I might as well sew
for them.
[Laughs]
I decided to use an old
antique dress from the '60s, and
that's this, so I did my own
adaptation of it.
Oh, God, I don't get it.
It's like...prom dresses.
So I'm incorporating the
snakeskin over to here, and I
believe I'm gonna use, like,
nude underneath.
You said, "I'm pretty sure
I'm gonna use that"?
This is the time to commit.
Yeah.
I kind of figure it out as I go.
I wasn't quite ready for you.

No one ever is.

My last collection was
inspired by fencing uniforms.

And, um--

What was really worrying me
is this color.
Is it too much?

My aesthetic is really, like,
romanticism mixed with modern
sophistication.
I'm incredibly impressed with
the execution of this.
The quality of his work is

It's old-school, like, bad.

What's happening with the
companion piece?
This is a c*ck dress
that's above the knee.
I really wanted to balance it by
putting a high neckline.

How long will this take you?
I think that's my only
concern is definitely the time
but, uh--

I thought for this challenge,
especially since we're having
young models and we're gonna be
in Times Square, that I wanted
something that was really punchy
and perhaps a little more
youthful and a little bit
shorter.

I was just not attracted to
either of the pieces.
It's a little sad.
It's like, oh, my God.
It is horrifying.

Designers, welcome to the
runway.
As you know, in fashion, one day
you're in, and the next day,
you're out.
Your challenge this week was to
design an outfit at home, at
your leisure, and one outfit
here at Parsons--two looks that
were supposed to look like they
belong on the runway together.
Let's meet the judges.
[Cheering]
First, we have CFDA lifetime
achievement award winner Michael
Kors.
[Cheering]
Fashion director of Marie Claire
magazine, Nina Garcia.

And our guest judges for today,
actress Lauren Graham...

Welcome.
Okay, New York City, let's start
the show!

I see my looks come down the
runway.
The pants look beautiful, with
the movement.
♪ ♪
Oh, my God.
I'm in complete awe.
♪ ♪
My models are walking great.
I think that, for the time
factor, they look good, but of
course, I wish I had more time
to have made it better.

I was so happy with my first
look.
She looks beautiful in the
dress, and it looks amazing.
As the second look walks down
the runway, I actually am kind
of looking at it, and it doesn't
look as horrifying as I thought
in the workroom, but it's still
not great.

I feel very excited about my
work.
I stayed true to my aesthetic.
♪ ♪
It is well put together and
presents really beautifully, and
that's what I was really going
for.
♪ ♪
When I see my c*ck dress,
I love the feeling that you get
from it.
It's so pretty and so feminine.
But I'm just really concerned
about that zipper warping.
My gown coming down the runway,
it's moving, it's flowy.
I would have never guessed it
would look that good.

When I see my first look come
down the runway, all the noise,
everything, it all gets quiet,
and I just focus on her.
♪ ♪
I did reach out and try to do
something new with this
ensemble, but at the same time,
it's very me, so I hope that
it's enough.

I'm really pleased with how
they came out.
I love how they look.
They're very out there.
It's probably nothing like
they're used to.
I really hope they don't find my
looks atrocious.

Everything looks like it's
working great.
I love the colors together.
My second look wasn't as much of
a statement piece as the first
one, so I was rather concerned
that I could be in the bottom
three.

My sequined gown looks
great, and I think it's a great
piece.
It shows me really well as a
designer.
My girls look beautiful.
♪ ♪
Oh, my gosh.
It looks good.
I'm very happy.
People are screaming just for my
outfit, nobody else but
my outfit.

I have absolutely no regrets.
I am 100% happy with my looks.
Last season, I may have been one
of the first ones to fall, but
this time, I'm gonna be one of
the last ones standing.

She is just totally k*lling
it and working the runway, and
I'm like, oh, this looks good.
I'm jumping up and down,
even though I'm sitting there,
looking all calm and collected.
I am just thinking, you got
this, you've got this one.

I'm looking at that jacket
and I'm saying, wow.
Everything that I wanted to
accomplish, I feel like I
accomplished it.
I feel like the whole look comes
together and it just complements
the first look so well.

Seeing my first look come
down the runway is just
unbelievable.
I am just blown away, because
it's exactly how I wanted to see
her.
I'm very happy with my looks.

I love my first look.
She looks amazing.
Everything looks great.
When my second look comes on the
runway, I was second-guessing
myself still.
Then I see my model just rocking
this dress, and everything makes
sense.

I am absolutely, 100% behind
my garment.
It's unusual, it's
unconventional, but it's
wearable, and it's functional,
and it has me in it.

The black dress has every
element of my design, and she
looks amazing and she fills my
garment the way that I need it
to be filled, and I feel so
proud of that.

Kooan, we're gonna speak to you
first.
Let's bring out your models.
Okay, Kooan, tell us about your
looks.
This first look represent
more, like, the one that I
started when I was 16.
This represent more, um, my
recent work that I did.
I mean, I definitely have a
lot of question marks.
Mm-hmm, yes.
It's odd, it's strange.
At the same time, it is
intriguing, in a way, so there's
the next question mark in my
head: Do I want to see more?
I want to show you more
stuff.
Well, obviously, you know,
you have a look, and it's
certainly not something that
will go unnoticed.
Uh, my reaction, though, is,
even if cartoon is your thing,
you don't want it to be a joke.
You know, when I look at the
romper, I mean, she's borderline
Teletubby.
But realistically, you know, do
you know how to sew?
Yes, you absolutely know how to
sew.
You know, you want to have your
own point of view, you want it
to be different, but it can
still look expensive, polished.
It's just, I-I want to be sure
that we're not gonna see a joke.
Thank you so much.
My concern is that you're not
being outrageous just for the
sake of being outrageous.
I think that choice of fabric
might have been a little
dangerous, because while it's
got a great visual, it doesn't
tailor up very easily, because
it has, uh, you know, that
stiffness to it.
I mean, I think he has a very
strong point of view, actually.

I mean, you're so inventive.
You're obviously not
forgettable, and I don't know.
It could be really interesting
to see, if you have to produce
something a little more
restrained or sophisticated,
what that does to you, you know?

Melissa, tell us about your
looks.
The dress was inspired by the
Bauhaus art movement as well as
the band, I wanted to
continue with the geometric
angles and the asymmetry and
show off her fabulous body.
The minute they turned the
corner, I know your vibe, you
know?
And today, that was an important
part of this.
Hopefully there's more than just
black, as much as we like black,
but I like seeing a point of
view.
I really like this.
I happen to prefer your second
look more than your first look,
but the girls connect.
I-I liked it very much.
It's definitely current.
It's something that a lot of
girls would want to wear.
They're both sexy girls.
I mean, that is nice.
I would want to wear that, both
of these looks.
Thank you.
It fits her beautifully, and
she walked out, and I was like,
ooh, you know?
And the three of you together
tell a story of coolness and,
um, that's hard to do with
black, 'cause we've all seen a
lot of blacks, but they look
great.
Thank you.
Beatrice, tell us about your
looks.
I like mixing it, and I
started out, I just like to have
something that's easy to throw
on, easy to wear, and making a
knit that looks special, and I
wanted to give her something to
reveal and cover her with, so I
made kind of like a cape.
So this is, um, a sweater-type
knit, and then I used this
fabric to go with it.
I have to tell you, I was not
very attracted to both of the
looks.
One, it's kind of like this
T-shirt meets sack dress, and
here, the same.
I'm not loving these two fabrics
together.
I was just not attracted to--to
either of the pieces.
They just looked, in my eyes,
too sad.
I get it that you like knits.
Then you have this other look
that--it's interesting.
It's a nice skirt.
And you have a simple dress that
actually looks much better if
you take the cape off, 'cause at
least you can appreciate that
you have spent some time in its
simplicity.
I mean, the shape in itself is
quite beautiful.
Right.
Everyone loves comfort,
everyone loves easiness, but
that's not enough.
It doesn't really tell me who
you are as a designer, and I
don't really know who your girl
is.
Right.
And that really is what--what
it's all about today.
This dress is so pretty, it
just gives me ideas of what else
I wish you did.
Like, I wish you'd done--be the
knit jersey person, you know,
and do it in a different length.
But, you know, there are
designers out there who just
make T-shirts and things that
are comfortable and--and--
But they also will not win on
Project Runway if they just
make T-shirts.
Yeah.
The comfort part, I get it.
The thing is, though, it's not
catching my eye in any special
way.

Christopher, we're gonna talk to
you next.
Tell us about your looks.
Well, my design aesthetic is
chic, sophisticated.
And I picked this fabric here,
and I knew I wanted to use this
technique, sewing lines parallel
to each other, as you see here.
I really tried hard to make some
material that you've never seen
before.
I love this gown.
Thank you.
I think it's exquisite.
I mean, this is a gown that can
be on a red carpet with a major
star.
I mean, for all the people at
home, you have to show this
again, like when you lift this
fabric up, how it peekaboos.
I mean, it is so awesome the way
you did that.
This is also very nice.
To tell you the truth, when you
guys do these black dresses, it
doesn't really translate that
well.
It's so hard to see, and there's
so much work, but I love them
both.
Thank you very much.
I think you did a fantastic
job.
The fabric manipulation is
really, really, really well
done.
And the toughest thing is to do
something that is, in fact, very
labor intensive but make it look
effortless.
But what did not work for me,
quite honestly, is the way these
girls are styled.
Really?
I think they are not modern.
I think they are a little
wedding party in the styling.
Yeah.
Initially, I saw a lot of
problems with this little black
dress, but then came this
beauty, and it was striking
because it looks so light and it
looks so fragile.
And you took a fabric that is
okay.
It's tacky, and I hate it.
And you made it look
remarkable.
You know, it completely changed
my perspective on you
immediately, when I saw this.
I have watched every episode
of this show for nine years, and
I can't believe how much you
can't tell what the detail of
something is in black.
Again, as a fan of the show, you
want that moment when something
comes out, and you're like,
[gasps]
You know, I've never seen that
before, and that dress
definitely had that.
It was that delicate, um,
quality of the '30s, and it
really shows specialness.
Christopher, thank you.
Lantie, tell us about your
looks.
For the at-home challenge,
um, I had a '60s vintage dress.
This is real snakeskin, and the
little bolero jacket, so I
called it "snakes in a flower
garden."
So I took the tulle idea and did
the snake in the front.
I just don't think it's
flattering to have this piece of
fabric right here in the front.
It looks stuck-on.
Is that something that you do in
all of your clothes?
No, not at all.
These pieces in the front?
No, no, no.
Just those three.
I mean, they obviously look
like they belong together, I
think.
I don't know what you're
trying to say other than
"vintagey-looking textiles."
It looks like it's made out of
kind of muddy mosquito netting.
It's a little sad.
I don't know what the story is
other than a textile story, and
I don't think the textiles are
so great.
Okay.
There's something happy about
the white dress.
You know, it's a really pretty
dress, and I almost wish you'd
brought more of the flower
element or some of that
happiness, you know, into this
one.
I don't think this is a
disaster.
I think you were just trying too
hard, and I thought it was
pretty.
And then I saw the second one,
and I was like, oh, my God, it
is horrifying.
[Laughs]
It was kind of like, is this
the same designer?
You reworked vintage clothes.
It's somewhere in between
stylist and designer.
It's one step below design.
Thank you, Lantie.
Ven, tell us about your looks.
For my first look, I really
worked on a creative draping
for the top, and I wanted the
suit to be designed but still
clean.
For the second look, I really
just wanted to mimic an idea of
the top, but something that was
easy and wearable.
Ven, what I really liked
about your two designs was the
way they worked with each other.
You know, I can totally see the
relation.
You tailored fabric that is
really tough to tailor.
It took a long time.
But you managed to take this
crepe fabric, with those pleats,
and you really did think about
her body.
These had a really nice, elegant
flow to them.
The flower construction on the
bustier is fantastic.
Thank you.
When I first saw this, my
first instinct was to, uh,
think, wow, he is technically
very good, because this bustier
looks phenomenal.
It looks expensive, and it
looks very well done.
It's beautiful.
I love a white suit, and it was
just so fresh and happy when it
came out.
I just love the choice of that
pink, so it was really lovely.

Out of the three designers that
had the highest scores, there
were two that we really, really
loved.
Yeah, that was really clear.
We also had high scores for
Melissa.
We liked it but it wasn't as
special as Ven's or
Christopher's, right?
Melissa's clothes, a young
woman in today's world, I mean,
those are the clothes that she's
gonna grab for, because they've
got edge.
The hair and makeup was
great.
It looked dramatic, it looked
modern, it looked now.
The customer is gonna go for
it.
Oh--
it's easy to understand.
You know it.
You know the girl.
I would want all of those
pieces.
I thought it was very nice.
I mean, Christopher, the
gown, to do that, not only to
create the textile, to keep it
as light.
When you saw that the strips
were not all the same size, I
mean, that was all gradated out.
And something so fragile
about that dress, so light.
He took an old-lady fabric
and he made it young.
That's the twist.
I just wish the black dress
had been some other color.
Like, any other color, so you
could have seen--
What was in there, yeah.
When I saw that black dress,
I was like, oh.
Then I see the second--
You were blown away.
Yes, I was like, wow.
We would all wear that,
right?
I mean, that was--
Not me.
Special.
[Laughter]
Why not?
Well, maybe, maybe.
No, I think he really did, uh, a
brilliant job there.
We also loved Ven, whose
bustier was beautiful.
I mean, it did look like a--like
a rose.
That sculpting was fabulous.
I mean, he actually had too many
ideas today.
Yeah.
I think, in the long run, Ven
could step out because he's got
that craft.
Ven, everything he did--
Was perfect.
Was made perfectly, fit
beautifully--
And, I think, looked
expensive.
Let's talk about the
designers that we didn't like so
much today.
Kooan, he's a little goofy,
right?
But I just want to make sure,
though, that it's got charm and
humor, but it's not a joke.
It's almost more cause for
concern, the second look.
His kooky look had so much going
on.
It was the second one that--
When he tries for restraint,
what's gonna happen?
Yeah, it was sort of--
Maybe it'll just go zoom.
Not--didn't do anything.
The souffle will fall.
Yeah.
What worries me is his
behavior, because he also acts
really funny, and so I don't--
that's what--
Is he just--
I think he was nervous.
Well, or no.
No, no, he acts a little--
Is he an attention magnet?
Yes.
Let's give him the benefit of
the doubt first.
Let's see how he is next week.
All right, let's talk about
Beatrice.
The knits.
She had no story to tell.
Like, she was really trying
really hard to sell the clothes
to us.
She thought that that ugly
Aztec cape was gonna be, like, a
dramatic moment?
I mean, if anything, the only
possible good thing she had was
the gray dress.
So now I'm wondering if
Beatrice should have another
shot at making some cool, like,
knits.
So she's a Snuggie designer?
I love my Snuggie.
[Laughter]
Let's talk about Lantie.
You know what I, uh, loved, what
you said, Patricia?
You said Lantie is more of a
stylist--
Well--
Than a designer.
I was like, you know what?
I feel like you're right.
I mean, I looked at Lantie,
and I think to myself, so she's
kind of reworking vintage
clothes, then has no idea
about proportion.
But bad vintage clothes.
And badly done, at that.
Well, when she tried to
design it, it was a disaster.
And then, in terms of, like,
her look completing the picture,
in the way that Melissa's did in
the positive, she had the same
bib thing here.
She took a granny dress from
the '70s.
You know, that's what that was.
And then she recreated, for
the new millennium, more dumpy.
Beatrice, I felt like, was
saying she didn't feel she
represented herself and she
should have done better, I
guess, but Lantie was a little
more like, yes, this is--this is
what I do, and I'm proud of it.
I believe in python bibs.
Yes, the--yes.
At least she is a fighter.
Or delusional.
