[female #] Nineteen weeks and we have one week left.

When I first walked in, I was definitely overwhelmed.

The whole period of time has had its ups and downs.

[screaming]

You guys are accusing me of saying all this [beep]

that I did not say.

I feel like, I've gotten to know

a really good group of people.

Coming to Africa has been really

the perfect, perfect ending.

[Mike] I know that this last week we have together

is gonna be really neat.

[Kat] This is the true story..

[Neil] Of seven strangers..

[Jacinda] Picked to live in a house..

[Jay] And have their lives taped..

[Lars] To find out what happens..

[Mike] When people stop being polite..

[Sharon] And start getting real.

I can't believe there's only a week left

not even a week left.

I remember just five months ago when we

first walked in that door..

...scared to death.

You think we're ever gonna talk to each other again?

[Jay] 'Hell yes, why do you ask that?'

I don't know what it's gonna be like leaving these people.

It's hard for me to imagine, like, getting together

um, seven months from now and having coffee.

I have a feeling we're gonna see each other

like a fair amount, more than we--

- You think so ? - More than we think we are.

You know, it's like, we've lived together for six months.

Whether or not you feel close to the person

it's silly to go someplace and not call.

[Mike] 'Are you crazy, you're gonna eat this?'

- Yes. - What the hell!

I mean, you have ketchup on your potatoes.

Do you want some sausage or mash?

Do you have some sort of problem?

I don't have a problem with it. I'm just..

I couldn't do it.

Takes years of English training.

[Neil] People haven't really embraced English culture

as much as they like.

I mean, Mike still goes to McDonalds.

But on the other hand you know

Mike uses the word "Bollocks" and "w*nk*r" now.

- I'm a w*nk*r. - We already know that.

[Mike] 'I would like to go somewhere and get a couple drinks.'

[Neil] 'Pub time, they're open.'

Living with these six people has changed me.

And one of the things that this thing has taught me

is to be more acceptable to change and try new things.

Just to see what kind of a man you are.

I'd realize that the least time I'd spent with anybody

was probably Neil, so I'm like, you know

"How about you and I just go out one night

and get a couple pints at the pub or whatever?"

It's all on the table right now, come on.

What happened? You and Kat, let's hear it.

Kat kind of appealed to my, uh..

...fatherly instincts, let's say.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, me too, me too.

Kind of like Jay does to me.

Well, you know, I kind of like, well, you know

"Kat, I'll look after you," blah, blah, blah.

Yeah, kind of sexual element comes into it.

'I really like Kat, and I'd like her to be my friend'

but there's a big sexual element

that's in there that I never really expected.

Did you tell Chris about any of it?

- 'Chris knows everything.' - Really?

She knows that deep down it's trivial, so..

- 'Yeah.' - She'll deal with it.

- 'That's cool.' - But, you know..

You, you have so many get-out-of-jail-free cards

'And I've kind of used one up by being so stupid.'

So what's the relationship with you and Chris?

She's like one of my best friends.

[Mike] 'Is it-is it like a love thing?'

- Um, it is, sometimes, yeah. - 'Really?'

- Goes up and down, definitely. - But not marriage?

I'd maybe get married if I was gonna have kids

but, not something I'm thinking about just yet.

'You think you're gonna make it as a rock and roll star

or is it just something to do?'

I don't know, I'd like to.

Ideally, I'd like to be in a position where I can

make the music and do the other things that I like doing.

people are paying me enough money to make noise

I wanna make and hang out.

you know, all I wanna do is drive Indy

I just wanna go around that oval a couple times.

I hope that racing becomes a career.

Back in the States, I'll be able to do lot more

and get a lot more experience under my belt.

And hopefully in the next two years do a bunch of

uh, Indy Lights or Toyota Atlantic Series

then move on to Indy cars in three years.

Of the seven of us, you think any of us are gonna make it?

Lars is gonna be years old in years

and still chasing the, the beat.

[Lars] I'll be somewhere there in the music of the club scene.

It could be a DJ, it could be promoter

it could be a producer, it could be something like that.

What do you think of Jay?

He has, he has got some talent.

I reckon Jay's gonna make it.

[Lars] Jay will be doing something with acting and dancing

and still not quite knowing

if that's the big thing now or not.

[Jay] If I could have things my way

I'd, I-d just entertain.

[Jay] I've got no, like, road, road map as far as

exactly how it's, how it's gonna happen.

- Jacinda. Alright! - Okay, you start.

[Mike] I think it'd be funniest to see Jacinda

just, like, you know, with a nice little family

picket fence, you know, doing nothing.

- Ouch. - Move your head.

I don't know, I definitely don't have any set-plan.

I don't think, I ever want to.

I don't have one big goal

that I want to do one thing for the rest of my life.

I always keep wanting to do different things.

The one thing Neil and I have in common

is that we live with six total strangers.

If there's anyone in the house that I'd miss

it's probably gonna be you.

But you hated me when I got here.

I mean, I am very much a pure American frat boy

that likes sex and beer

and the sort of person everybody hates, but..

But like, once you get to know me, you know..

I actually kinda like you now.

I was saying to the people in the house

that I'd missed you while you were away.

- 'Did you really?' - I did.

But you and I never really did anything though.

'I know, but you were always there, you know'

'you were taking the piss out of each other.'

I feel I've got a sparring partner.

We can sit down and take the piss..

- You know, it'll be fun. - Out of anything.

[Mike] Neil and I are obviously very different, but..

...over five months we have grown

to get along with each other.

And he's always said, you know, from the first day

[Sharon] Katie and I went to a poetry reading.

It was a very interesting experience.

I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Tiny little room, full of sort of hippie-types.

The kind of people that don't use deodorant on principle.

But they were a lovely bunch of people.

[Kat] I'm really missing my family.

When I go home, I'll kind of stay for two months

at home with my mom.

Looks a lot more when you're standing up here.

Then I'll fly back to New York and NYU

around the end of August.

I'm from a really small town in the States, it's called Yelm.

And the summer I was

my mother got surprisingly pregnant.

My oldest brother is .

And, um, I spent the whole summer with her alone

stranded, an hour away from any grocery store even.

And that same summer we had a drought.

"How furious you were, throwing your body against the heat.

"Railing against the mid-life baby

"that swelled, stretched and ached in your stomach.

"Pressing our wills cheek-to-jaw

'"till the dry air snapped and bit between us.'

"Even then, I was almost your equal, your eldest daughter.

"The skin and tension, pulled taut between us.

"The stretch marks growing thinner and terrifyingly white

as the bond we shared somehow dried up and burned away."

[Sharon] And I was damn proud of her for doing it

'cause she was really nervous.

[Kat] Coming to London was difficult for me.

I feel like I've changed

and I won't know how much till I get home.

At least I've gotten a little bit more self-assurance.

[bell tolling]

And I got to see London.

Yeah, it's overwhelming.

I really, really enjoyed living in London.

There's enormous amounts of history here

and the pub phenomenon..

There are more pubs here than there are people.

[male #] 'Bye, bye, girl power.'

[Mike] When I first came to live in England

I had no idea what to expect.

I'm not a city-living person at all.

[Mike ] "."

Columbus arrived in America in .

So this is even before anything.

Now, I feel, you know, maybe not

as intimidated by the city so much.

I feel more at one with it, more at home in it.

[instrumental music]

[Jay] There isn't a better city for me to be in.

I'm, I'm definitely in love with so much of London.

And there's so much to be gotten that isn't smack-bang

on the surface for you to have.

- I'm gonna tickle his bum, too. - Get off my a*s.

[Neil] I think I'm gonna miss the whole thing.

Strange though it is, it's been my life

for this past four-and-a-half months and it's gonna stop.

I'm gonna be back to whatever I was in before.

- Like it? - Yeah, wow.

I'm gonna re-apply to university.

I mean, I miss the intellectual vigors

of hard study and research.

Once I leave, I'm going back to Oxford to write a thesis

on the acquisition of language.

And after that, I don't know, it's all a bit of a mystery.

- 'It's Kat's birthday?' - 'Yeah.'

- 'Shh!' - Happy birthday!

- Do you feel older? - No.

[Kat] It started out kind of slow.

It didn't feel very good because we'd just been in Kenya

and everyone's tired, and I was kind of like

"Oh well, you know, it's gonna be low-key."

And then things just started happening.

This is like the best present.

[Sharon] 'That is really disgusting.'

[Neil] Now, that's what you call a birthday present.

"Who was a terror on the fencing mat.

From Tacoma she came to make herself a name--"

And she's ..

[Jay] '"And-and her kitty's named Pucky Ro."'

[laughing] Kitty named..

[laughing] I like that.

We are rhymin' fools.

Turned out to be a really good day.

I was upstairs getting ready in my bedroom

and then Lars came in with a package.

And it was from all the boys.

Oh, my God.

[Sharon] 'Isn't it beautiful?'

[Sharon] She was just so happy about that

'cause she just didn't think that

you know, they were capable of being nice.

I know it sounds surprising

but she really wasn't expecting it.

[laughter]

[Mike] Read it.

"And her kitten is called Hey Cat".

[Jay] Kat was the only one in our house

who had a birthday the whole time.

Kat was so happy towards the evening

as we were walking towards dinner.

She was as happy as I've ever seen her be.

And she added this gorgeous dress

and she added her boyfriend

and Kat was just in love with life there.

And it was, it was, it was something special

to see, it was really nice.

On my birthday I felt very, very cared for.

That's the only way I can put it.

I cared about each of those people.

You know and just kinda wrapping things up

in a way I'm really ready to go home

and in a another way, I'd kinda like to stay.

I'm in a real sarcastic mood right now.

[Lars] 'Well, I hope that, um'

besides all the fun we've had

in the past five months

some people have also learned something.

That's my toast.

[Sharon] To knowledge.

[Mike] That was a bit funny from Lars.

[Jacinda] 'Oh, and Mike still has Ranch.'

I'm glad to see you still have something to squirt

after all this time.

[Sharon] 'It's the worst lasagna I've ever made.'

[Mike] 'Sharon, it does look really good.'

[Sharon] 'This is such a disaster.'

I've never made such a..

'We can't eat like this!'

[laughter]

How does he do that with the fork?

'This is crazy.'

[Neil] 'Sharon, I genuinely appreciate the fact'

that you've cooked tonight.

[Jacinda] 'Cause we had absolutely no cutlery left'

we decided to eat

the dessert with our mouth.

- Get set.. - Go!

Ahh!

[laughter]

[Sharon] 'Stop chucking food.'

[Lars] It was so silly.

I just stood by the fireplace

and watched the whole scene

and didn't get involved.

[gasping]

Aah!

Oh, God, I can't be..

Mike, you're cleaning that up.

[laughter]

[Jacinda] We had food from one end of the house to the other.

It's just a huge mess.

There's dried up lasagna downstairs

chocolate strawberries all over the floor.

Legend and the kitten had a ball.
