on the bus across Costa Rica.

going to get to see again.
I'm just soaking it all in

It says "Witch's Rock Surf Camp,"
and it looks just like the picture.

We're supposed to get
surfing lessons today.
[Joe] We do all
of our surf lessons right out in front.
And, uh, this is kind of the main
surf section for all of Tamarindo.
-Um. Has anyone surfed before?
-[Danny] No.
Unless you're ready
to change your life, don't go surfing.

I feel like an idiot.
I can't swim well, if at all.
As pretty as I think the ocean is,
it absolutely terrifies me to think of me
up to my chin in water when I can't swim.
Make sure your hands
and toes... and then push.
twist and bend your knees.
Our instructors are hard core.
Both of your feet are in the middle.
And then you're looking where you're
going to go. Keep the knees nice and bent.
[Wes] I'm paying attention.
I'm doing what they ask.
But it's a lot harder
than they made it sound. [chuckles]

[Nehemiah] In the beginning,
surfing is a little difficult.
But after the couple of minutes
of learning how to do things, you know,
it's absolutely beautiful.
I mean, I love it.
[Lacey] I'm on it for four seconds
and then I roll under,
I get smacked in the face
by it, and it's not fun.
Everyone else looks like
what they're doing's fun,
but I'm eating dirt
and water and salt and board.
-[adventurous music concludes]

-[Danny] Oh, yeah.
-[Lacey] I would totally believe that.
And everyone knows who that is.

-It totally just hit me.

to come up with this big scheme.

And then, I'll introduce myself
as Prince Harry the whole night.
It ends up being a pretty bad idea,
but we try it anyway.

The guys are getting really into it.
Nehemiah and Danny
are checking their fake earpieces.
-[indistinct chatter]

The river is called Rio Arenal.
It's a class three river.
We have a total of 35 rapids.
[Lacey] My first thought when I hear
about white-water kayaking
is like, "Can I wear two life jackets?"
[instructor] Okay, the river
doesn't go in a straight line.
It takes a lot of turns like this.
So, you need to be able to turn the kayak.
If you fall into the water,
put your feet downstream,
start swimming over to the side.
[Lacey]
No. We have soft rocks in Costa Rica.
[all laugh]
I'm really relieved that I get
to go kayaking with one of the guides.
It completely erases all the fears I have,
'cause I know he's not
going to let me get hurt.

It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience
you get to go kayaking in Costa Rica.
I'm proud that I wasn't wussy
and whined about it.
