the funeral of a police officer

the next day in Hong Kong.
- I felt terrible.

is that, the next day,
she offered me her fabulous

- We all felt bad for Eileen.
- I just sat there
just going, "Wow."
- It was, yeah, the kind of
reaction didn't, you know,
fit the crime.
- I mean, not my finest moment
for sure.
- Erika, you told the ladies
that you purposefully don't
discuss your son with them.
- Yeah.
- Why?
- Because he prefers it
that way.
He...he needs to remain
in his private space.
- It's about safety.
I mean, if he wasn't
a police officer, maybe it would
be different, but I completely
understand the situation and
wanting to protect your child.
- I'm interested
in your own experience
as the mom of a police officer.
Talk to me about the emotion
that you carry around
with you all day.
- Well, it's not just me.
I think that anyone whose son,
daughter, or husband/wife
that's in law enforcement,
you know, you worry.
You know that
anything is possible.
That is my greatest fear.
I don't want to overstate it
and make it more dramatic
than it should be.
And this child has wanted
to be a police officer
since the time
he could walk and talk.
I knew this was his life path.
I mean, that's just
the way it is, and I'm very
proud of him, but it is scary
at nighttime; that's why,
you know, I'm happy
he lives with me 'cause,
you know, I hear him pull up,
I'm like, "Whew," you know?
It's a little...
it's a little weight off my...
- He lives with you?
- Yeah, it's a little
weight off my shoulders.
- What does he think
of the show?
- He's proud of his mom,
you know?
He says he doesn't watch,
but somehow or another
he tends to know...
- Oh, my God.

and he gets it at work,
you know?
They know his mom's on the show.
- Erika, Julie from Memphis

"Do you not wanna show emotion,
or is it just hard for
you to show it?"
There is a difference.

very sensitive, and I choose
to reveal myself slowly.
So it's not that
I don't want to.
It's just a slower process
for me, yeah.

I just...I never felt
that she was cold.

- But I think that sometimes
you connect with people,
certain people, like
Kyle and I connect, you know?

with certain personalities

very hard, but I think she was
trying to toughen me up
and raise me the best way
she knew how.
- When you were little,
when you wanted to audition
for something, I had you
make the phone call.

When you got a part, you spoke
with the people on the phone,
and back when $25 was a lot,
I would let you go
into the store
and cash the check and come out
so you knew
how to talk to people.
- Yeah, you did, for sure.

so, you know, when you
raised your son,
did you kind of change that?

- Because I know, like,
my parents never told me
they loved me, so I went

often my family say,

I love my children more
than anything in this world,
but I have a lifestyle where I
depend immensely on the nannies.
Currently, my staff includes
Peggy, who's baby nurse,
Neila, Jagger's main nanny,
and then I've got a few nannies
for Jagger and Phoenix,
to fill in,
three full-time housekeepers,
and Tiffany,
who's my husband's assistant.

and extra room, and it just
makes things easier.

- Well, you have to understand
my husband and I travel
a lot for work or I have
events in the evening,
so I need coverage around
the clock, so it's...they're
kind of on hand, but even
when the nannies are there,
if I'm present,
they're not necessarily...
it's not like
I'm not choosing to
spend the time
with my children.
- I did not...I've never had
a nanny, but I also think
it's different when...
I had my baby at 19,
and I just kind of got
thrown into that,
and all of a sudden I was a mom,
and that's just what I did,
you know, every single second.
I think it's also
very different, you know,
when you have your kids later,
and they're working,
so I don't judge and know
what works for everybody.

when you had your son?
- 20.

how you got so rich.
Is there a short answer?
- I started richer.

real estate and hedge funds.
I started in business in '95,
and I spent the first 25 years
in my career in real estate.
- You've taken some heat online
for getting so involved
with Dorit and her friends.
Were you sticking your nose
where it didn't belong,
or is it the natural part
of being a husband?
- I think the answer to that
is a bit of both.
Certainly, if I look back now,
maybe I did get involved where
I shouldn't have got involved.
